Graphic Ephemeris
2011 - 2013

A Graphic Ephemeris is a great way to visually spot significant alignments by observing where the planetary lines cross. This is a 30° Graphic Ephemeris, thus the vertical scale is 0° to 30°, which is the number of degrees per astrological sign. Thus, each of the 12 signs are overlaid upon each other. The planetary lines in the chart reveal the location and movement of each planet in and through their respective signs. When a line turns upward, the planet is then in its retrograde. Wherever two or more lines cross indicates that aspects are occurring between those planets that are either 30° or a multiple of 30° (30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 150°, 180°, etc.) The aspects occurring are revealed by knowing which signs the planets are in. You can also see when planetary synods occur. They occur in the midst of a planetary retrograde--when the planet is opposite the Sun (except for Mercury and Venus which are conjunct the Sun). Learn more about planetary synods and retrogrades. Solar and Lunar Eclipses are highlighted in yellow. About Natal Graphic Ephemerides.

For example, in the 2012 graphic ephemeris, it is easy to see the Uranus-Pluto Square that begins in late June. This is the first exact square of several continuing through 2015. The second exact square occurs in mid-September 2013. You can see how the two planets maintain a close (~1° orb) throughout this time (creating a significant activation window). Notice how Jupiter and Mars act as triggers to the square in mid-July. Mercury's retrograde in sidereal Cancer also occurs during this time. It aspects and triggers the square as well. You can also see the Earth-Pluto and Earth-Uranus synods (Pluto opp Sun and Uranus opp Sun), which flank the June-September period. Notice that the Pluto synod occurs at the time of the first square, and that Venus stations, completing its retrograde, also in aspect. The asteroid Pallas also triggers this compounded event. All of this takes place just a few weeks after the Venus Synod (Transit), which occurs in early June, just after the Full Moon eclipse. If you create a basic astrological chart around any of these times, you will see the various aspects.
