Red Light Therapy (620nm to 700nm) is used to treat the surface of the skin. Deeper penetrating IR wavelengths of 850nm and 980nm are commonly used for the relief of deep muscle and joint pain (arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis).

Blue Light Therapy (400nm through 495nm) is used as antibacterial treatment; e.g., acne, staph, MRSA bacteria. Light closer to UV (400nm) is more anti-bacterial, while longer wavelength blue light is deeper penetrating.
