December 11-12, 2004 New Moon
Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
Although in the sidereal sign of Scorpio, our New Moon resides in the constellation of Ophiuchus, nesting under Pluto and lying just next to retrograde Mercury (which will return direct in this lunar cycle). The Solstice also occurs in this lunar cycle.
Pluto plays a significant role in this lunar month's theme.
Pluto ensures Soul Integrity prevails: Pluto will destruct personality alliances and personality driven motivations to ensure soul's mission is attained, even at the cost of the personality life. This implies a need for letting go. The nature of the alliances destructed is a function of the location of Pluto in the astrological chart. Pluto is independent, individual, autonomous, the revolutionist, and the extremist. Pluto is of isolation and aloneness. Pluto fears not battle, war, or death. Pluto is also where, generationally, unacceptability occurs, where the antiquated must be destroyed--in the genetic / cellular patterns carried in ourselves and so in those expressed in the world.
Pluto works at a cellular and primordial level, with pre-birth and past lifetime issues. Pluto can invoke cellular level stored fear regarding death, transmutation, and survival issues; as well as all early childhood programming. Pluto is an "opener" and a "deprogrammer" that provides doorways for new growth and unfoldment. Pluto-type experiences (those seemingly destructive) when worked with from this perspective can support tremendous spiritual growth.
Pluto is actually a dual planet: the Pluto-Charon System, two bodies rotating around a common point (barrycenter), in spin orbit synchronicity. Pluto has an extreme eccentric orbit and an ecliptic (orbital inclination) that is tilted 17.2° with respect to Earth's--partly why it cuts through the incarnational issues. Its rotational tilt is ~122°. The diameters of Pluto and Charon (not to be confused with Chiron) create a very slow beat frequency--part of its multifaceted astrophysical parameters responsible for undermining cellular patterning.
Ophiuchus lies above and on the ecliptic, standing over the Scorpion, which swings quite south of the ecliptic under the feet of Ophiuchus. Antares, heart of the Scorpion, defines the center of the sidereal sign of Scorpio, the Serpent Point, and embodies the essence of the Scorpio constellation. Antares lies below the ecliptic as well, in the body of the Scorpion. Because Ophiuchus actually crosses the ecliptic, it is the thirteenth ecliptical constellation, but it lies in the sidereal sign of Scorpio.
In our stellar image, Ophiuchus stands confidently holding the serpent (Serpentis) coiled around his body. The neck and head of the serpent point toward the Northern Crown (Corona Borealis), which lies above the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion. In Greek myth, Aesculapius, the mediciner of the ship Argo, is also imaged as Ophiuchus, knowledgeable of advanced healing processes beyond the cycle of life and death. Ophiuchus also articulates the theme embodied by the Christian resurrected Jesus (Jeshu).
Ophiuchus is knowledge holder over the raw creative forces governing life and death--one who has attained ascension from the lower-order forces that perpetuate our scenarios of (re-incarnational) entrapment. Ophiuchus is exemplar of one who has mastered the initiatory forces of life and who has brought the interplay of these forces to a greater spiritual fulfillment. The neck (Unukalhai) and head of the snake embody the essence and wisdom of living true to soul, in one's true self-mastery--as a Christed (soul infused) being of light.
The astronomical symbol of Ophiuchus is the caduceus--the entwined double serpent upon a staff--the double helix of the DNA. Ophiuchus and the sidereal sign of Scorpio are associated with our education regarding the use of primal creative forces and raw creative power. The entire image of Ophiuchus standing upon the scorpion with this magnificent snake reaching for the North Crown represents claiming our self-mastery to attain evolutionary fulfillment beyond of the karmic-dharmic based reincarnational process of soul growth, the balancing of human experience in the polarity of duality. This is to become ascended in vibration, an illumined being free from perpetuated entrapment--literally the illumination of the double-banned lattice of the DNA (the urn of the soul) into the one radiant spiral of light. This is to live in a unified awareness beyond the entrapments inherent to a limited perception of a dualistic world.
Our New Moon lies along the right leg of Ophiuchus, which stands over the sting of the Scorpion. Further below is Ara, Altar of the Centaur. On the low altar, the Centaur places Lupus the Beast (our lower-order personality-based patterns of self-importance, and associated emotional baggage) with conscious deliberation to be consumed in the Centaur's transmutational pyre. Venom from Lesath, the sting of the Scorpion, dripping on the altar, provides the required transmutational elixir--the often harsh but required lessons incurred while incarnate.
Conjoining the New Moon is the Ara Black Hole (V821) catalyzing the Ara Initiation, a process that demands we release all guilt, grief, judgment, fear, anger, and pain associated with our experiential past. Only from this mature and humble act can we claim the wisdom available from our entire incarnational experience and step into our evolutionary fulfillment and live our greater truths. If we do not, we continue to burn in the alchemical process. Here lies our New Moon-Pluto theme of Dec 11-12, 2004. This is also a part of the current Pluto 367-day synodic cycle, which began in May of 2004.
As with all black holes, Ara's V821 black hole provides us the opportunity to relinquish a lesser aspect of self for a greater, but requires an act that is all or nothing, with no in-between, a feat we must do within our selves. V821 opens a transmutational portal where the entire holographic record of soul's historical incarnational journey can transmute provided we are willing to learn of and embrace the transmutational process. The Ara black hole reveals the need to create a proper environment or space for advanced healing processes and procedures, where environmental and biological forces can properly amalgamate for the transmutation of elements to occur.
The secret of healing is revealed in the all or nothing nature of the V821 black hole. To allow this level of transmutation requires total surrender of the tension held within our cellular structure, that is, to consciously embrace in unconditional love, in total non-judgmental acceptance, all emotion we hold within that has been created from suppressed (denied) experience. E-motion is the result of the unwillingness to allow the motion of experience to pass through us. Thus the suppressed emotion from denying (resisting the motion of) experience molds our cellular patterning. To relinquish this lower-order mold or form is the essence conveyed by the mythical image of the Centaur placing Lupus upon the altar. This is the key that frees the cellular patterning that perpetuates repetitive experience, emotional discord, and degenerative disease, to allow a transmutation of elements to occur. Learning to unconditionally embrace all experience in love as our normal mode of living precedes illumination of the molecular structure of the DNA into one radiant spiral of light. The bio-illumined mode of the DNA allows us to live in unified awareness--beyond making duality-based judgments, which is common to the bio-logical mode of the unillumined DNA.
Simply, this initiatory process requires we surrender our lower-order mental-emotional patterns with conscious deliberation, to let them be consumed and extinguished, and to then re-emerge with the purity we have gained from the transmutational process in a new demonstrable expression.
Expanding on the Theme
The hours before the Crescent Moon provides a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The crescent moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past, and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins and we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
Our Crescent Moon occurs on Dec 14-15 in the midst of sidereal Capricorn. Here at mid-Capricorn, the issue of trust arises, in essence to participate openly from soul awareness and in the greater interest of all rather than covertly from the deceiving personality facades inherent to the incarnate stage.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon of Dec 18 conjoins the asteroid Vesta upon the cusp of sidereal Aquarius-Pisces. BL Lacerta, a nuclear galaxy at the cusp of sidereal Pisces, can manifest as psychic manipulative forces that are invisible to the unsuspecting, unaware, naïve, or innocent. Alignments here can also indicate psychic congestion in consciousness with the need to emerge from entangling psychic web-work created from past emotional involvements.
Our Quarter Moon-Vesta asks us to initiate action with inner clarity, with focus, dedication, and commitment to emerge from these stirring and confusing psych-emotional forces. To learn more of Vesta, please see The Asteroids#Vesta.
Mercury Direct - Taking a Stand
Mercury completes its retrograde on Dec 19-20 under the legs of Ophiuchus and over Antares, Heart of the Scorpion, just after the First Quarter Moon, which fully marks the commencement of the new "enterprising" Mercury 116-day synodic cycle theme presented in last month's lunar text.
In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, (meaning anti-Mars), and with further meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with a tenacious willingness to fight and even destroy. Antares demands we take a stand for our truth against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting or evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.
Directly opposite Antares in the sidereal center of Taurus is Aldebaran, eye if the Bull. The Aldebaran / Antares axis is indicative of political systems, their people, and their opposing politics. Aldebaran holds and radiates vision for ideal physical logistics for authorities to put in place so as to aid the peoples of the Earth through evolutionary process and transition. Antares ensures that the current and accepted approaches and visions do not become static or antiquated. Antares ensures growth, evolution and change. If the Scorpion meets those bullheaded and stuck in their antiquated modality of life, the Scorpion's sting is not far off--hence its classical association with rebellious and destructive forces. Antares keeps the vision of Aldebaran up-to-date by challenging authoritarian powers. When there are rebellious or terrorizing forces assaulting the established order, this reflects the need to realize that the established order is no longer supporting in ways truly nourishing to the needs of the people, and requires some type of reform--reform that if denied, may result in some level of, otherwise unneeded, destruction.
From an embracing transcendent perspective, Antares is the administrate seat directing the education of the incarnate souls regarding application of raw creative power. Antares oversees and stimulates the use of raw creative forces and use of power so that we can learn what is required for our true incarnational freedom and to become responsible creators of it. Antares is not a negative force or evil star, nor does it harbor any negative extraterrestrial faction, as is sometimes erroneously believed.
Mercury's station to return direct over Antares supports us to communicate and live our naked honesty even when it does not conform with that which is established in our lives.
Solstice, the true "New Birth" of the Sun on Earth, occurs on Dec 21, 12:42 GMT, just before the Gibbous Moon of Dec 22.
Attraction & Involvement
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the magnetic pollinating phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time.
Our Gibbous Moon in sidereal Aries conjoins Alpha Horologium (the pendulum clock), which embodies the characteristic of "impending time." Here there is a relentless and underlying sense that there is a finite period with time ticking away, and that more than is humanly possible must be done with need "to go back before going forward." Seemingly, a miracle is required, and often time, at the last minute, one arrives--usually provided by another party. But here, we must be willing to release the pressure we are applying in attempt to free ourselves, as it really creates the tension that keeps us entrapped. Only then can we make our passage.
Vision, Enthusiasm, and Realization
Our Full Moon occurs on Dec 25 in communicative sidereal Gemini. Dec 24 marks the enthusiastic time leading up to the Full Moon, while the 26th will be our day of rest and realization in this lunar cycle.
The foot of Castor is composed of Tejat, Eta Gemini, IC 444--a bright refection nebula, and Dirah (Tejat Posterior) Mu Gemini. Tejat and IC 444 portend eminence and renown, and will make that which they align with stand out in a unique fashion. Tejat will make visible that which has been suppressed, oppressed, hidden, in the closet, but destined to be seen.
Alignments with the foot of Castor can also indicate the need to emerge from our own mental obscurations and illusions. Tejat indicates that it is time to come out of hiding, to become visible, to stand forth in the limelight, and to make self visible, available, and approachable. Tejat may indicate it is time to claim one's role in the physical world, and to take the steps required for physical unfoldment and participation in the world. It is time to do what is required. Tejat can also indicate those who are physically marked in some way: including birth marks, genetic marks, or other unique features including tattoos, and especially jewels.
As Tejat brings to the surface that which has been suppressed, we may draw experiences that reflect parts of our selves that seem rather dark and opposing to our unfoldment. Forces of the mortal world may indeed be out for our demise, but they are our worthy opponents, for they reflect the fears, hesitancies, and blockages within our selves to step through into our paths of fulfillment in the world. Tejat asks that we be willing to walk through the shadows of self to claim our power and place in the physical world.
DEC, 27, 2004 - Cosmic Explosion Among the Brightest in Recorded History from SGR 1806-20 near Galactic Center. (An SGR object is a Soft Gamma-ray Repeater.)
"Scientists have detected a flash of light from across the Galaxy so powerful that it bounced off the Moon and lit up the Earth's upper atmosphere." "In the first 200 milliseconds of the event the star released energy equivalent to what our Sun produces in 250,000 years."

In the crescendo of this galactic explosion, hours before on Dec 26, the 9.1 Indian Ocean Earthquake occurred that produced the Asian tsunami responsible for tremendous devastation.
Just as any seismic or other event occurs just before the main planetary triggers (in this case in the crescendo leading into the Full Moon), we also have this Earthquake occurring in the crescendo of the stellar explosion, Considering the coinciding astrological alignments of these two events nesting upon the Full Moon, it seems likely that this stellar explosion was also a key trigger to the seismicity that caused the tsunami (even though the star's explosion was seen to occur after the Earthquake):
SGR 1806-20, lying along the galactic equator, 3° north of the ecliptic, conjoins Al Nasl, tip of the Zen Archer's arrow (by 0° 40') and the Gate of God (the GEN at 5° sidereal Sag)--the primary node of the Holy Cross. At the time of the star's explosion (Dec 27, 2004, 21:36 GMT), the Sun was just 4° 30' further in Sag, conjoining Kaus Bor (the bow). At the time of the quake (Dec 26, 2004, 00:58:53 GMT), which occured in the crescendo leading into the Full Moon, the Moon (at 3° Gemini) was approaching the Gate of Man (at 5° Gemini), opposite the location of SGR 1806-20. Durring the entire time, the Lunar Nodes (at 5° Aries / 5° Libra) were in a primary aspect to the GENs and SGR 1806-20. Durring the quake, the Lunar Nodes were on the meridian of the quake's location (retrograde Saturn setting on the horizon plane (on the DSC) directly opposite Chiron rising (on the ASC)--astronomical Earthgrid alignments typical to significant seismicity.
The first time the ionization of Earth's atmosphere by gamma and x-rays was traced to a stellar explosion was on Aug 27, 1998. In this case it was from SGR 1900+14 in Aquila. SGR 1900+14 lies along the galactic equator conjoining Zeta Aquila.

Manifestation & Demonstration
Our Disseminating Moon occurs on Dec 30 and marks the time when the gift of the lunar cycle becomes tangible. The manifestation moon resides on the cusp of sidereal Cancer-Leo, under the head of the Lion. The front of the Lion--marked by the stars Algenubi, the eye of the lion; Ras alas, the crown; and Subra, the paws of the Lion in the desert sand--leans into the last few degrees of sidereal Cancer. These stars inspire us to discover obscured paths and explore new ideas, to allow new pictures to emerge, and to break new trail in our lives.
Time for Change
Our Last Quarter Moon of Jan 3, 2005 nests between Pallas and Jupiter in sidereal Virgo stimulating our inner need to initiate change. All conjoin the stars of Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us.
Moon-Pallas residing at the Mercury's exalted location asks us to not withdraw from communication when it is required the most, but to articulate creatively without making judgment that validates one side and invalidates the other. Here creative communication with wisdom and intuitive foresight can create solution beyond the paradox presented by the duality in which we may find ourselves. Moon-Jupiter supports movement and expansion as we relinquish the stage setting of the past and prepared for the new year to come.
A conjunction of Mercury and Venus with Pluto, also occurring at this time, supports wide-open communication from the heart. Embracing the transmutational elixir this communication provides is the key to unwrap the gift that this rather intense lunar cycle offers. Pluto ensures mind and heart, logistics and love synthesize as one - the opening door.
Focus to the Future
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon is our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn from looking back over the past cycle and look toward the future cycle to come.
Our Balsamic Moon occurs on Jan 7, on the Head of the Scorpion--asking us to take responsibility for our life experience and change rather then falling prey to repetitive scenarios of entrapment based on beliefs that we are helpless.
Our next New Moon occurs on January 10 in late sidereal Sag, under the highly inspiring auspices of Lyra, Harp of the Angels--more to come then.
