Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

Events of a Global Proportion

Our July 6 New Moon lies in late sidereal Gemini and conjoins Sirius of Canis Major and Canopus of Argo Navis. Sirius, Alpha Canis Major, is the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher, knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom. Significant alignments with Sirius can bring teachings / lessons / or events of a global proportion that can catalyze tremendous evolutionary change. The Sirian type Gemini can carry a tremendous sense of responsibility to see to the evolutionary fulfillment of others. However, they can be so head-strong in their need for accomplishment that they can ignore the rights of others and the need to allow others to be self-responsible. Being a knowledge-holder and teacher of ancient wisdom, the Sirian sometimes thinks they know what is right for others, but a Sirian lesson is to release their siblings and creations to their own destinies. This can be a (Gemini) paradox of grand proportion--but the need is to set things free so they can take their own course rather than forcefully manipulating a scenario for some mentalized evolutionary outcome from a sense of righteousness or self-importance--a miss-placed sense of responsibility.

Thus, our Sirian lunar month may bring catalyst to learn about boundaries and the right use of will--how we must live true to self and allow others to do the same. This is to set things free rather than trying to manipulate and control our life scenarios or the experience of others, confusingly thinking we are responsible to define another's life experience. Doing so allows all parties to live in a greater integrity that is true to each, to mature, grow, change, and to move onward in what ever way is right for each.

Conjoining Sirius from the southern heavens is Canopus, Alpha Carina of Argo Navis, lying along the galactic plane. Classically, Argo Navis is the ship in the story of Jason and the Argonauts, a version of Gilgamesh and his fifty Sirian warriors. The Argo lies reverse in the heavens, stern to the east, bow to the west, along the galactic equator, thus associated with that which moves retrograde in the heavens, the greater precessional process on Earth, the evolutionary cycle of the soul. The stars of the Argo generally are associated with evolutionary matters for the entire planetary system, and for all souls evolutionary growth and fulfillment.

Canopus is the second brightest star in the heavens after Sirius. Sirius is relatively close to us at 8.6 light years. Canopus, of another galactic sector altogether, is over 312 light years distant. As a galactic equatorial star, and as director / navigator of the Argo (Jason and the Argonauts), of greater evolutionary matters for our solar system, Canopus sets the subtle cosmic currents that guide our lives and support us to change and grow, seeing to the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all souls and ensuring proper evolutionary outcomes. Canopus also brings awareness to the repercussions of global events and how they affect the greater surrounding cosmology. An older derivation of Canopus is the Egyptian Kahi Nub, meaning "Golden Earth"--representative of the vision held for our beloved Earth by this helmsman.

Sirius and Canopus are both significantly associated with the evolutionary affairs of Earth and humanity, and so can herald potent global experience. For an example see the Snippet: Jupiter & Sirius, The Great World Teacher (their role in the World Trade Tower event).

Canopus (along with Miaplacidus, Beta Carina) is director / guide of all astronomical-Earthgrid spacetime matters--including all interdimensional, intraterrestrial, and intraoceanic Earthgrid portal work. Because of its brightness and southern strategic location, Canopus is also a principal stellar reference commonly used for navigating interplanetary spacecraft.

From Allen (Star Names, Their Lore and Meaning: "Our name for it (Canopus) is that of the chief pilot of the fleet of Menelaos, who, on his return form the destruction of Troy, 1183 B.C., touched at Egypt, where, twelve miles to the northeastward from Alexandria, Canopus died and was honored, according to Scylax, by a monument raised by his grateful master, giving his name to the city and to this splendid star... Ancient Canopus (the city) is now in ruins ...it was here from the terraced walls of Serapeum, the temple of Serapis, that Ptolemy made his observations." Canopus is associated with Gilgamesh, Noah, and Jason. Canopus in older planispheres is generally illustrated on one of the rudders on the stern of the Argo.

From friend, colleague, and siderealist, KHM9 Andrés Takra: "Since Canopus lies near Columba, the Dove, the Holy Spirit, the symbol of the Future, according to D.H. Lawrence, the great and visionary English writer and painter, I predict that in the next human era, which will be a Golden Age, Argo Navis--and especially Carina--will play a role of extraordinary relevance. Moreover, being close to Crux Australis and to the South Pole, Argo Navis is another allusion to the future rebirth of spirituality on our planet, the resurrection of sunken lands, the future development of the SOUTH, the changes in climate and environment in that part of the globe (Tierra del Fuego,--the southern most land of Chile--and the South Pole / Lake Vostok) and to the landing on Earth of interplanetary spaceships, as well as of intraoceanic and intraterrestrial flying saucers and their strange occupants!!!"

Expanding on the Theme

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past, and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

Our Crescent Moon of July 10 lies just past Regulus, heart the Leo the Lion, and conjoins Alpha Sextans and the Vela Pulsar, which lies on Velorum, the sail of the Argo. Here our lunar theme expands with the stars of the Sextant inspiring us to plot a new course, to take a new tack on journeys in life. On a greater scale, this is in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth. On a mundane level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life, to take a new tack toward our goals.

The stars of the sail of the Argo, Velorum, are of subtle evolutionary currents, forces, and portals transcendent to the stage of the temporal world. The Vela Pulsar, an extremely old Super Nova remnant conjoining Alpha and Gamma Sextans and expressing through the Sextant's theme, has a fundamental frequency of 11.2084065685 Hz., which translates to a color harmonic of 3800 Angstroms--a high spiritual violet, bordering near UV. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, constantly providing an inner message or reminder for those attentive to such subtleties. Although the Vela Pulsar can create somewhat of a spiritual serenity, much like we might have relaxing on a sailing ship in a light breeze, there demands the preparedness and alertness to leap into action as the increasing gales and changing currents require. The Vela Pulsar reminds us to remain serene but alert and preserving along our journey, to continually plot our position and adjust our course so we can arrive to the sanctum we seek. The Vela Pulsar reminds us to set our direction based on the underlying evolutionary currents rather than on the winds of the moment, the diversionary and transitory surface breezes, to plot the path on our long-term (soul's) direction. If there is any pulsar equated more to the maturity of the old soul (old salt), the Vela Pulsar is it.

Initiate Action

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our external stimulus occurs on July 13, the day before First Quarter Moon of July 14. Conjoining Jupiter and the South Lunar Node, our external stimulus may be to mobilize, to move and expand from the past, or from past patterns or scenarios, those that had been easy to fall back into or stay stuck in.

Our First Quarter action Moon of July 14 lies in the last few degrees of sidereal Virgo (just before Spica, the base chakra of the Virgin) and conjoins potent Eta Carina, also of the Argo. Eta Carina is Lord of the Waves (the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu--who warned Noah), foreteller of impending catastrophe, and instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man "Oannes," who taught the Chaldaeans, both esoteric science and that which would civilize their lives, from building cities and temples to agricultural technique. (Robert Temple, "The Sirius Mystery" / Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled") Eta embodies the esoteric Theosophical Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Here at the lower spinal sacrum (sanctum) of the Virgin are founf the secrets behind life itself.

Eta Carina is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy--estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in 1840 A.D., then making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 and 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carina theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998--perhaps Eta's warnings. Because of Eta's strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level--stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth's safe evolutionary outcome. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time!

Deep Impact-Comet Temple Lunar Activation

On July 15, just after First Quarter Moon and just before the Moon-Ceres conjunction, the Moon directly aligns with Comet Temple creating an activation of the Deep Impact-Comet Temple theme presented in the "Deep Impact" snippet of July 4. The Moon and Comet Temple reside in sidereal Libra but lie under the skirt of the Virgin (in the Virgo constellation) and conjoin Syrma, star of Atlantis, the knee of the Virgin.

Syrma, star of Atlantis, lies under the skirt of the Virgin. Syrma embodies issues relating to the transmutation of frozen DNA coding. Syrma holds a resonance that brings to surface emotional pattering / grief incurred due to devastating ramifications of past cataclysmic events on Earth, or due to genetic manipulations incurred in the distant past or in this life. Syrma supports use of the artsciences to unlock crystallized patterns held within our cellular makeup so we may free ourselves from biological conditions and behavioral patterns that keep us frozen in past time, and so we may continue our evolutionary awakening and attain our original pure soul intent. Here we find the purpose of properly tuned environments, and the importance of the right place in time.

Here again is an affirmation of the beneficent nature of the Deep Impact-Comet Temple event--an impact designed to free up an energetic in our lives and on Earth that had been frozen in time.

The Moon-Ceres alignment just after the Moon-Comet Temple activation brings our attention to (acting on that which is truly nourishing in our lives). Perhaps the energetic that had kept us from doing exactly that in our lives is now free to move. To learn more of Ceres please visit The Asteroids#Ceres.

Attraction & Involvement

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the pollinating phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on July 17/18 in the center of sidereal Scorpio, conjoining Antares, heart of the Scorpion, creating a passionate pollinating lunar phase. Antares, however, asks us to rise to the occasion, to take responsibility and "take a stand" for our truth, live it, and be responsible for the lives we create, especially to take a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and greatest fulfillment.

Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization

The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme." This is a time to kick back and relax to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

Our Full Moon occurs on July 21 residing in the first few degrees of sidereal Capricorn, which reveal the reality of translating and applying our high visionary ideals (of earlier Sagittarius) into concretized practical form in the physical world. Here we have the support to do so but also experience the aberrations or distortions of those ideals when doing so. These first few degrees of Capricorn can also involve areas of all esoteric sciences, as well as the secret places and orders associated with those artsciences--places of personal retreat, seclusion, hermitages--places strategic to one's purpose. Here we find support to identify and move into such places as well. Siderealist Andrés Takra adds that the first few degrees of Capricorn are also of magic, hermetism, esoterism, and religion. Here is where the pure spiritual essence and principles common to sidereal Sagittarius can get converted into monotonous or lost into empty dogmatic doctrine.

An energetic may have been freed up, but it is up to us to move into the new era opening in our lives.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury begins its retrograde period on July 22/23. This marks the time when we begin to shift from the last Mercury 116-day synodic cycle theme into the next. The first half of a planetary retrograde provides the time when we disengage from the current synodic theme. The second half of the retrograde period provides the time when we engage in the next synodic cycle theme--like putting in the clutch as we shift gears in a car. Our new Mercury synodic theme will begin on the following New Moon, making the next Mercury theme extra-significant (discussed then). We will move fully into that new theme when Mercury completes is retrograde on August 15. To learn more about synodic cycles and those of Mercury see the Synodic Cycle web page.

Mercury's last 116-day cycle (discussed in the March 10, 2005 lunar month's theme) was about functioning from higher-mind, that is, listening to and following the guidance of the divine expressing in the everyday affairs of our lives, sort of getting out of our own way and living in the palpable guidance that continually expresses around us moment-to-moment through the affairs of our daily lives.

Mercury's current retrograde occurs in sidereal Cancer, thus our shifting gears, in general, has to do with emergence from the darkness of the past into the light of the future, emergence from old states of consciousness and ways of living. This is the essence of the Egyptian Scarab (sidereal Cancer) theme: emergence out of darkness, dogma, and delusion, out of the antiquated entrapments we had been living in, and our transmutation from darkness into light. This is of new beginnings, migration, shedding old skins, skeletons, and cocoons. It is of emerging out of the frenetic confusion of mass consciousness; finding our new paths and directions; leaving behind antiquated dwellings we had been living in and the structures of consciousness they represent and finding those new, those nurturing to our new awareness or our new life phases now unfolding.

Manifestation & Demonstration

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle. Our Disseminating Moon of July 25 conjoins Homam, Zeta Pegasus, a fortuitous star, lucky star of the hero. Homam embodies the essence of the Pegasus theme--refining ourselves to rise in vibrational resonance, above the entrapping dramatics of the human psycho-emotional world. Homam conjoins Beta Horologium, the pendulum clock, which inspires us to go back and reclaim what is rightfully ours.

Time for Change

Our Last Quarter Moon of July 27/28 brings our inner need to initiate change as we move into the last quarter of the lunar cycle. Our Last Quarter Moon lies in sidereal Aries and conjoining Caph of Cassiopeia. Although there are stars in Cassiopeia and Cepheus that embody the human aspects of arrogance and denial (as presented in the story of the Royal Family), there also are stars in these constellations that are of a refined quality. These are Caph, the palm of Queen Cassiopeia's hand, and Alphirk, the truly wise essence of the King.

Caph, the palm of Queen Cassiopeia's hand, expresses a gentle and tender ability to be a true guiding and stabilizing force. Caph provides an in-between or holding place, and indicates the need for arbitration, meeting, and compromise in the midst of our conflicts and struggles in life. Caph offers a truce, even honoring what appear to be irreconcilable differences. Caph provides a calming force, bringing the composure, level-headedness, and emotional balance that are required to come to this place in-between. Most always, some type of conflict is a necessary prerequisite to come to this receptive place of the heart.

Focus to the Future

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn from looking back over the past cycle and look toward the future cycle to come. The Balsamic Moon occurs on July 31/Aug1 in the last couple degree of sidereal Taurus conjoining the Crab Nebula M1 and Crab Nebula Pulsar 3C144 in the horns of the bull.

An expanding cloud of stellar dust, the Crab Nebula is the result of a Super Nova (star explosion) that became visible on Earth on July 4, 1054 AD. Recorded by the Chinese to have lit up the daytime sky for 23 days-nearly an entire Lunar Cycle. The result of this Super Nova explosion not only left this nebulous cloud of stellar dust but also one of the fastest spinning pulsars, a collapsed neutron star with an X-ray and radio pulse rate of 33 times per second. Only one beacon from this star nucleus sweeps the Earth. To get an idea of the rotating beam of energy emitted from this pulsar imagine a lighthouse beacon spinning as fast as an aircraft propeller. Super Novas are a part of the cosmic events that support a renaissance in consciousness, this one had inspired the separation of Church and State. Here we are supported to separate ourselves from perpetually fighting antiquated crusades based on dogmatic beliefs held from the past and to have the tenacious perseverance to move forward into the future, free from the binding thought patterns we hold from our past.

Our next New Moon occurs on Aug 4/5 in mid-sidereal Cancer along with the new Mercury synodic cycle--more to come then.
