October 3, 2005 New Moon
Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
This Lunar Cycle
This lunar month is an eclipse lunar cycle. Our October 3 New Moon creates a Annular Solar Eclipse and our Oct 17 Full Moon creates a Partial Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses occur when the Sun, Earth and Moon align with the lunar nodes, either the south lunar node or the north lunar node, thus placing the moon on the ecliptic plane. Astrologically, the south node has more to do with our past and old patterns, those easy to fall into, while the north node has more to do with our future, the new way or direction for us to move toward from our south node patterns. This solar eclipse occurs on the Moon's south node and the lunar eclipse occurs on the Moon's north node. Eclipse lunar cycles tend to create doorways of opportunity, openings, like shifting gears in a car--as we put the clutch in, we temporarily disengage one gear so we can re-engage in another. In the case here, we are disengaging from one ocatve of participation in our lives so we can engage in another--generally with the new octave beginning to unfold in the following lunar cycle.
This Solar Eclipse is visible across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Maps of the eclipse path and technical info can be found here:
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/SEmono/ASE2005/ASE2005.html
During the Solar Eclipse, the moon lies between the Sun and Earth, emblazoned by the Sun's rays, thus intensifying the lunar aspect of the cycle--the magnetic / emotional aspect. The Moon also temporally disrupts the sun / solar aspect of the New Moon, supporting us to relinquish our personas or roles in life, that is, how we see ourselves, what we identify ourselves with.
The Lunar Eclipse of course occurs when the Moon has moved half way around the Earth such that the Earth lies between the Sun and Moon, shadowing the Sun's rays upon the Moon and thus disrupting the reflected (moon) light showering upon the Earth. The Lunar Eclipse allows us to relinquish those things associated with magnetic bonds--emotional aspects of our selves and of our realtions, aspects of our palpable experiential worlds.
This south-node solar eclipse (and this lunar cycle) is about freeing us from the past, our past life scenarios, our roles in life, or how we see and present ourselves in the world, thus bringing a sense of freedom from what we identify ourselves with and the hold those identities can have upon our lives. Our Full Moon lunar eclipse is about relinquishing the emotional patterns (perhaps fears) we may hold that keep us from stepping forward into the new octaves unfolding in our lives.
Our New Moon eclipse occurs in mid-sidereal Virgo conjoining Vindemiatrix and Porrima, which mark the centre of sidereal Virgo. This is also the exalted seat for Mercury, our winged messenger, placing extra significance on the Mercurial aspects of our lives: logistics, details, communications, etc. Mercury recently began its new 116-day synodic cycle. The theme of our current 116-day Mercury cycle was presented in the August 5 lunar month's text.
Vindemiatrix and Porrima mark the centre of sidereal Virgo and embody the essence of sidereal Virgo. They indicate a time of harvest / change is at hand and they bring us the capacity to have forevision so we may act accordingly on the signs being presented in the natural world around us. Mercury's exaltation residing here significantly adds perspective and understanding to the nature of the stars at this ecliptical longitude. Mercury is the vessel by which these stars function in their highest expression, that is, through the neurology of communication and logistics, and all that Mercury characterizes.
Mercury is a significant indicator used in astrological forecasting for agricultural commodities. Its exalted location lying in the midst of sidereal Virgo, sign of wheat and the harvest, explains why--something that is missed in tropical astrology, which places this ecliptical location in the tropical sign of Libra.
Porrima, just two degrees north of the ecliptic expresses through the higher nature of the Mercurial mind--our higher brain centres that activate our capacity for clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima opens our ability to have foresight to see future probabilities.
Vindemiatrix, just north of Porrima, classically the Harvester, tells us it is time, that it is in the timing. "This star is said to confer great powers of thought and an exacting, severe nature" (siderealist Andrés Takra). Both stars lie over Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us.
None of us are forsaken or deprived of guidance, nor even need intermediaries like those found in religions or those of the astrological arts (this text). All of us are merely learning to see, feel, and listen to the guidance of the divine expressing in the everyday affairs of our lives, palpable guidance which is continually around us, moment to moment, communicating through everything, the simple things occurring in our lives, thoughts in our minds, feelings we have--its nature's way, the voice of God expressing through everything. We need only to trust in them and act upon them to find our passage.
The essence of this zodiakal area, comprised by all of these conjoining entities expresses through the higher mental capacities associated with the ability to for-sense future probabilities, which includes clairvoyant and telepathic awareness. This prophetic ability is with specific purpose, not only for communication, but action. This is much more than receiving simple impulses of premonition, and is not limitted to ill-fated events, but is about how our attentiveness "extends" or reaches from the present into the future. This implies the ability to sense future unfoldment. The purpose of such eves-dropping into the future provides advantage in how to use our will (Zaniah of Virgo) in the present. The purpose of such future-seeing is so that we can prepare and create what is needed "to meet" the potential future to come. The events seen are already precipitating from the realm of probabilities, which then precipitate in the unfoldment of our spacetiming.
This few degree band of Virgo is about divine communication through the natural world, attunement systems for such communication, extended spacetime perceptual capacities, all to serve us in our capacity to make safe passage in harmony through the diverse and sometimes tremulous currents ahead.
Thus, this Solar Eclipse in the midst of the Virgin can yield passionate and intensely focused or detailed premonitions or images of foresight that would be wise to heed. To act upon the insights realized in this lunar cycle is essential to catch the wave of our idealized destinies (our paths of desire), that which we have already mobilized on the eterhic plane.
Mercury and Jupiter conjoin on the cusp of sidereal Virgo-Libra a couple of days after the New Moon inspiring movement with logistics and expansive communication, to live an expansive truth.
Expanding on the Theme
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past, and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
Our Crescent Moon of Oct 6-7 conjoins Venus in early Scorpio (the twosome can be seen in the western sky at sunset). Here is impetus to relinquish anything that could be getting in the way of living the passion of our hearts' desire.
Initiate Action
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our external stimulus occurs on Oct 9-10, in the 24 hours before the First Quarter Moon, which occurs on Oct 10 in sidereal Sag conjoining Alrami, Alpha Sag, the knee of the Zen Archer. North lies Sheliak of Lyra, the strings of the Angelic harp. Alrami brings inspiration for transformation, to let one aspect of our lives die so a greater can reign, to live our greater truth and a greater self-expression. Sheliak, the strings of the harp, inspires artistic expression in the art-sciences. A remarkable and spectacular optical show of brilliantly changing color emanates from this extremely fast rotating binary star.
Attraction & Involvement
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the pollinating phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction. Our Gibbous Moon occurs on Oct 13-14 in refreshing sidereal Aquarius. The Moon conjoins Uranus and Sadachbia of Aquarius, lucky star of hidden things. Fortuitous Sadachbia inspires exploration and discovery, finding something buried, something of value.
In the northern heavens, conjoining Sadachbia, is Deneb, the tail of Cygnus the swan. Cygnus is also the "Messianic Needle of the Heavens" (dubbed by Andres Takra) and more commonly is the top (head) of the galactic cross, which lies upon the galactic equator. Deneb, is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters in Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle, it thus is the messianic head of the precessional Cycle of the Holy Cross--embodying the God-Essence in our evolutionary unfoldment. Deneb asks us to stand in the awareness of our pure soul essence and inner truth, in our God-self wholeness and to participate from the maturity of our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence, from beyond the separations and categorizations of race, sex, and creed. Deneb asks us to live the true and pure essence of our beings--minor concept!
Within the pollinating phase of the lunar cycle, Venus conjoins Ceres in passionate Scorpio and Mercury conjoins Pallas in Libra. Reminders to consider that which is truly nourishing to heart! Shall we stuff it and spitefully withdraw or shall we communicate our hearts' truth and find a creative solution to fulfill it.
Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization
The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration (Our festive Full Moon eve occurs on Oct 16). The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax to allow our realizations to surface in our consciousness.
Our Full Moon of Oct 17 occurs on the cusp of sidereal Pisces-Aries, conjoining Acamar of Eridanus, a dam on the long and winding river of life, also of the intestines. Acamar conjoins Al Pherg of Pisces, the psycho-emotional aspect of this dam. Acamar and Al Pherg indicate a breakthrough is required through a psychic-emotional blockade. Here we must realize that although the dam we face originates in the psychic-emotional realm of self, it has solidified in the physical realm of our lives as well. Thus, action to clear out the physical manifestation is required to move the entire energetic.
Manifestation & Demonstration
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle. Our Disseminating Moon of Oct 20-21 occurs in sidereal Taurus conjoining The Shield, a sub-constellation of Orion. The theme of this few degree band of Taurus, over the shield, is about protection and caring for; preparation before embarking upon new journeys.
Time for Change
Our Last Quarter Moon of Oct 24/25 brings our inner need to initiate change in the lunar cycle as we move into its last quarter.
The moon lies in early sidereal Cancer, under the forefoot of the Great Bear, coloring our inner need to change. The forefoot is marked by Talitha (Iota) and Kappa of Ursa Major, which I dub as protectress, guardian, and nurturer of humanity, this duo is the Chinese "High Dignitary." Although minor stars they should not be taken lightly as these stars lie in principal stellar orientation within the Bear. Of the Great Bear they are associated with the global scene and world powers. They inspire us to become a caring and nurturing force for each other, an enabling force that responsibility supports our emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion, emergence from the limits and bounds created by selfish, fearful or controlling beliefs, a force that supports us to move into freedom and greater personal fulfillment.
Also conjoining Talitha is a pulsar (APO 0823+26) in Cancer that provides a constant reminder to emerge from psycho-emotional issues common to the collective consciousness of the group of people with whom we associate. It inspires us to be independent and free thinkers rather than co-dependant followers of dogmatic belief structures that limit our ability to initiate creative action that supports the manifestation of our greater fulfillment.
Focus to the Future
Venus and Pluto conjoin on Oct 28-29 in late sidereal Scorpio on the Balsamic Moon--hearts wide open.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn from looking back over the past cycle and look toward the future cycle to come. This Balsamic Moon of Oct 28-29 lies in later Leo, at the hind of the Lion. From the last lunar cycle: are we following our own transcendent currents leading to our great fulfillment or getting diverted by the hot air breezes spouted by others.
Juno, asteroid of covenant relations, begins its retrograde on Nov 1, just before the next New Moon. Our New Moon of Nov 1-2 occurs in mid-sidereal Libra, at the feet of the Virgin--more to come then.
