Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
Please remember that the purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your unique new lunar month theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life.
New Moon Phase Characteristics
Due to the recent death of my computer and the setbacks that has set in motion, I did not write about this lunar cycle on its outset. Below is however a brief version of this month cycle which I assembled just after the Crescent Moon of June 1.
This month's Lunar Calendar PDF is also available here or via the calendar link at the bottom of the page.
In Brief: This Month's New Moon lies in sidereal Taurus, a couple of degrees before Aldebaran, conjoining Hyades ! In a nut shell Hyades articulates the potential of being diverted by or getting consumend or lost in the humaness of life, in its beauties as well as it trials. Thus, persistence and perseverance are required in our daily physical lives while not losing site of the greater visions we hold.
Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
Our Crescent Moon of May 30 conjoins Pollux, the ambassador in the last degree of the Gemini twins emphasizing communication. linking and liaison with others to achieve something we could not achieve alone.
First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on June 3 in sidereal Leo conjoining, Chort, the hind of the Lion, the Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151 in of the Barking Dogs, and Mizar of Ursa Major. Creative energy that must express, however, discernment is required to see behind the possible diverting dramatic commotion it may cause.
Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction. Our Gibbous Moon occurs on June 7-8 in sidereal Libra conjoining Miaplacidus of Argo Navis. Miaplacidus is of navigational mapping, travel and pilgrimage, of finding those environments that nourishing and harmonizing for our purposes at hand.
Full Moon Phase Characteristics
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
Our Full Moon occurs on June 11 in the last decan of sidereal Scorpio. Under the tail of the Scorpion lies the Ara Black Hole. Ara is the altar of the Centaur, the teacher of self-mastery. From the sting of the Scoprpion (life's lessons) drips the transmutaionl elixer upon the altar where we may be transformed if we are willing to embrace lise's lessons as the gift that they are. Here lies opportunity to cast out the accumulation of judgments that bind us to that which is degenerative and serves us not. To embrace in uconditional acceptance (love) all of our experrience as our co-creations designed to serve our greater growth, self-mastery, and spiritual awakening, is to allow the Centaur's pyre to transmute our souls.
Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle.
Our Disseminating Moon of June 14 occurs in mid-sidereal Capricorn conjoining retrograde Chiron. The issue of TRUST arises at this location in sidereal Capricorn. Here is the need to participate by trusting in the paths of our souls, in the spirit force guiding us rather than participating merely from decisions made from our limited egoic selves that think they know better but that only see the deceiving physical facades we ware upon the incarnate stage of life. To surrender our need to control based on our limiting beliefs is to open to possibilities that serve all parties in ways that serve the greater growth of all. An opportunity for healing through surrender may open new paths previously unseen.
Pluto, in the midst of its retrograde, begnis its new 357-day synodic cycle, the first ocurring in sidereal Sag. See: Pluto's First Synode in Sidereal Sagittarius. (Added June 8)
Pluto's last synodic cycle, which began in the last degrees of sidereal Scorpio, occured over the sting of the Scorpion. See the First Quarter Moon section, "Initiate Action," in the June 2005 lunar planner. Also see the "Uranus, Pluto, and Hurricane Katrina" snippet.
Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics
The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon of June 18 occurs in early sidereal Pisces conjoining the circlet of stars creating the head of the fish. Also conjoining Matar, on the left forearm of Pegasus, which is from Al Sa‘d al Matar, meaning the Fortunate Rain. Matar marks the wet emotional gush point in the zodiak that provides a release from psychic-emotional tension.
Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn from looking back over the past cycle and look toward the future cycle to come.
This Balsamic Moon of June 21 resides in sidereal Aries. Just prior to the Balsamic Moon, from June 19 through June 21, Mars conjoins Vesta inspiring us to get clear and focused in our use of creative power and in our capacity to act; Uranus begins its retrograde; Ceres begins its retrograde; the solstice occurs, which means the Sun resides on the "Gate of Man" (at 5° sidereal Gemini) of the Holy Cross. Bu the Sun also squares the lunar nodes (creating what is called a "moon wobble"). This sometimes produces a bit of emotional instability or disorientation. This particular Moon Wobble is particularly potent because the Sun and Lunar Nodes "T-Square" activates the Holy Cross.
The Balsamic Moon conjoins Almach of Andromeda and Menkar of Cetus. Almach is Andromeda’s beautiful but snagged foot about to be bitten off by conjoining Menkar, the jaws of thrashing Cetus, the fear-instilling technobureaucratic monster "created by" humanities collective fear-based consciousness. This brings to our attention that inattentive, arrogant, or stupid moves will only entrap us more than we already are, Patience and gentleness are required to escape from danger. Radical movement only exhausts us and tightens the chain of human bondage. With all that said, we also have Alpha Horologium in the mix, the lucida of the Pendulum Clock, bringing awareness to the reality that there is a finite time ticking away and more than is humanly possible must be done. Seemingly a miracle is required and often at the last minute one arrives, usually provided by some other party.
