Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
Please remember that the purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your unique new lunar month theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life.
Our New Moon of July 25 lies in the midst of sidereal Cancer but conjoins the forefoot of the Great Bear, Ursa Major.
The forefoot of the Great Bear is marked by Talitha (Iota) and Kappa of Ursa Major, which I dub as protectress, guardian, and nurturer of humanity. This duo is the Chinese "High Dignitary." Although minor stars they should not be taken lightly as these stars lie in principal stellar orientation within the Bear. Of the Great Bear they are associated with the global scene and world powers. They inspire us to become a caring and nurturing force for each other, a force that responsibility supports our emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion, emergence from the limits and bounds created by our structured beliefs, a force that supports our reawakening to light, to live in freedom, in a greater fulfillment.
Also conjoining Talitha is a pulsar (APO 0823+26) in Cancer that provides a constant reminder to emerge from the psycho-emotional issues common to the collective consciousness of the group of people with whom we associate. For the less aware it may merely reinforce behavior driven from such consciousness, creating monotonous drone-like creatures of habit.
This lunar cycle inspires us to be independent and free thinkers rather than co-dependant followers of dogmatic belief structures of mass-consciousness or the groups we have been participating with that limit our ability to initiate creative action--action that supports the manifestation of our personal and collective fulfillment.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
Mercury returns direct from its retrograde on July 28, just a few hours before the Crescent Moon. This marks the full commencement of Mercury's new 116-day synodic cycle discussed in last month's lunar theme. Here lies opportunity to emerge from patterns of the past, from the old ways we may have participated, and to move forth with a new consciousness.
Our Crescent Moon of July 28 in late sidereal Leo conjoins Denebola, the tail of the lion, and Alpha Antilia, the air pump. Antilia fuels the fire created by the tail wagging diversionists associated with Denebola and its cohorts. Here we find the hot-air dramatic antics of others who fear change and need to control the lives of those around them. The result is a swirling smoke screen designed to divert us from seeing and acting upon our unique paths. Discernment is of issue here, to recognize any diversionary limiting concepts we may buy into and to simply step through them.
On July 30 retrograde Chiron (opposite the Sun) begins its new synodic cycle in the midst of sidereal Capricorn. It conjoins Alpha Microscopium and Gamma Sagitta, the tip of the missile. Seeing that which seems invisible sometimes requires a magnifying eyepiece to look through before we can address the issue and apply our arsenal of expertise to address it. This next Chiron synodic cycle inspires the diligence to examine and address the crux of that which needs healing in our lives so we can cross the bridges we face in our lives.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon of Aug 2 conjoins Jupiter in mid-sidereal Libra, at the foot of the Virgin, also aligning with the Southern Cross. Here we find dynamic stimulus for expansive and liberating movement based upon our pure intent, unencumbered by any adulterative attitudes we may have placed upon that intent in the past.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction. Our Gibbous Moon occurs on Aug 5-6 nested between Pluto and Pallas in early sidereal Sag. A parting of the waters may sum this up. The Moon, between Galactic Center and the Gate of God, lies under the auspices of Etamin, eye of the Dragon. If we have done our initiatory work, relinquishing lesser involvements and modes of being, those that no longer serve us, we may find a passage of greater value opening amongst those we now communicate with from the heart.
The Sun-Saturn conjunction ocurring on Aug 6-7 marks the mid-way point in Saturn's 378-day synodic cycle. The characteristic of the midway point of any synodic cycle is much like the Full Moon point in the lunar cycle, a potentized climax of realization regarding the synodic cycle theme. At this time, Saturn is on the far side of the Sun. That is, Earth, the Sun and Saturn align, but with the Sun in between. In this orbital configuration (during a planet-sun conjunction), Saturn is said to be combust in conventional astrological terms, a time where the planet's essence becomes emblazoned in our lives, often bringing issues related to the planetary resonance to a head (conscious awareness), igniting the planet's theme (actually the current synodic theme).
Saturn's current synodic cycle began when Earth and Saturn aligned on the same side of the Sun, on Jan 27, 2006. Saturn's current synodic cycle theme was presented in the Dec 31, 2005 lunar planner. Saturn's theme was set in mid-sidereal Cancer by Praesepe, the crib, or beehive star cluster, which has much to do with "emergence from dogma" and emerging from old dwellings and states of consciousness. (The dwellings we live in represent our structures of consciousness.) In the case of Saturn, we may find long established and solidified patterns of belief, those held within, and organized structures of thought, those created by man, and that we may belong to, especially the religious dogmas of the world, coming to a crisis point. As the vision and realization point in the synodic cycle, we may have realizations surfacing to conscious awareness about the ramifications of anything we have initiated at the beginning of the year that is related to our current Saturn's synodic theme--the structures we have placed ourselves in. Saturn still resides in sidereal Cancer, and with this Sun-Saturn mid-way point occurring in a Cancer lunar cycle, makes the theme of sidereal Cancer quite significant. Cancer, commonly the crab today, is also the Egyptian Scarabaeus, an image that articulates the theme of humanity's emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion and the reawakening back to light. The Scarab is an appropriate mythical figure, as no one knows the exact time of the emergence of the beetle from its snuggle in its own dung because it does not seem to follow any natural cycle in nature. This theme also applies to our individual emergence from the family nest or from the collective consciousness that we co-create.
Saturn and the Sun, now conjoin Dubhe of Ursa Major. Context for Dubhe is found in the backdrop stellar themes of Acubens and Zeta Hydra. Acubens, Alpha Cancer, indicates entrapment in dogma. This can be the current political / religious beliefs of the times, as well as that created by our personal belief structures--the ideas we have about our lives and experiences we have in our lives. Acubens indicates a tenacious hold and stubborn resistance to release the patterns we hold that keep us entrapped in our limiting life scenarios.
Zeta Hydra lies immediately south of Acubens. Delta through Zeta Hydra and Pulsar CP0834 (which conjoins Gianfar of Draco, the poisoned heart) create Hydra's head. Zeta Hydra and surrounding stars indicate a multifarious undermining source of destruction (every time Hercules took off one the Hydra's heads, it immediately grew another). The conjunction of Acubens and Zeta Hydra reveals that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures.
Associated Quasar 3C206 of Hydra, one of the brightest & closest quasars, suggest that although our dogmatic beliefs can take rather strange and unexplainable forms, they are not outside the realm of our own creation. They are however laser-like in their power. Quasar 3C206 reminds us to not be naïve to the powerful momentum of our beliefs and the undermining behavioral patterns they can create. This quasar tells us to not turn our backs on that momentum, to know it may take more than one attempt to overcome our dogma's hideous tenacity.
Dubhe, Alpha Ursa Major and Merak, Beta Ursa Major, are the two brightest stars of Ursa Major. At this time in Earth's precessional cycle, a line drawn from Dubhe through Merak leads directly to Earth's current North Celestial Pole (near the star, Polaris, of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor). Merak and Dubhe represent the alignment of personal will and divine will in allegiance to the evolutionary fulfillment of Earth's polar precessional cycle--to the fulfillment of evolutionary cycle of the soul.
The stars of the Great Bear also represent the world powers. The theme of the great Bear is torn. Part of the Bear is of the fallen world powers, those of a totalitarian, controlling oppressive rule. Dubhe and Merak are of the integrous part of the Great Bear, that which is oriented toward a greater vision, for that which is truly nourishing for humanity, for that which is focused toward our evolutionary fulfillment.
Dubhe embodies the willingness to fight for a greater vision beyond the accepted political-religious dogmas of the human world that keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe asks us to do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for the unfoldment of our lives--for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek. Dubhe asks us to emerge from our own personal dogmas (our belief structures) and our limiting life patterns that keep us bound in life scenarios that are less than those we truly want. Dubhe supports us to create a new and better future rather than merely staying reactive to the limitations we have already created and reinforce with our existing beliefs.
Dubhe is the star of the Hor-she-shu, the worshipers of Horus--referring to the moving vernal point in the ~25,000 year precessional cycle of the Holy Cross (See the Holy Cross WEB page). The vernal point is also called the Birthplace (of the Sun-Sol-Soul), the Christ Point, and Office of the Christ because it governs the evolutionary cycle of the soul--the timing of the re-awakening of soul (Christ) consciousness on Earth. The precessional movement of Earth's pole, also called the Godhead, governs the movement and placement of the Birthplace through the signs of the zodiak. Thus, in this context, Dubhe holds the vision for when Earth's pole aligns with Dubhe and Merak--marking the time of our emergence, when our reawakening begins, for the return of Christ Consciousness (soul awareness) within Earth's collective, for an epistemological illumination beyond our mentalized concepts of God and soul.
Dubhe conjoins Zeta Hydra, a multifarious undermining source of destruction, and Acubens of Cancer, the tenacious hold of our psycho-dogma. This indicates that to overcome the undermining and relentless manifestations created by our very sticky behavioral patterns requires perseverance to destroy (cut off heads of Hydra) the very beliefs we hold that crystallize our monstrous reality. Ultimately, Dubhe asks us to fight to achieve a greater vision for the evolutionary freedom and fulfillment of humanity--freedom from the dogmas that keep humanity entrapped.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon occurs on Aug 9 in latter sidereal Capricorn conjoining Neptune, which is about to start its new synodic cycle, emphasizing our dreams and visions. Later Capricorn is composed of an overlay of the beneficent stellar qualities of sidereal Aquarius. Here we have fortuitous Sualocin of the angelic Dolphin star system. Sualocin, Alpha Delphinus, and Rotanev, Beta Delphinus, express through the last decan of sidereal Capricorn, merging the primary essence of these heavenly angelic guides with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence.
To trust in the serendipity of life is merely to surrender our personal righteous reasoning mind that needs to define and control, and to allow our selves to move with the Divine Intelligence that permeates and fluidly guides our lives. Here is the art of getting out of our own way to allow a creative solution that leads us from the conforming bounds of logistical mind. Neptune helps to dissolve the limits of lower mind.
The oracular angelic guides of Delphi merge and meander with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence through the rock-hard conforming stoic past of Capricorn and spring from the ground as prophetic life carrying waters--a flow of guiding wisdom not otherwise available by mortal efforts alone, a flow that leads us from the crystallized into the unbounded future to become. As any old salt knows, when wayward at sea, trust and let the dolphins take the lead.
Neptune and Ceres, both in their retrogrades, conjoining in later sidereal Capricorn, begin their new synodic cycles only a couple of days apart--Neptune on Aug 10-11 and Ceres on the Disseminating Moon of Aug 12. (The alignment is: Sun-Earth-Ceres-Neptune.) Here we have a combined synodic theme unfolding over this next year, so think of these two synthesized working hand-in-hand together--also under the auspices of the Dolphin Star System. Trusting in the synchronistic, the mystical and magical, in a higher intelligence, is the way that leads to making our dreams and visions real, those that result in our fundamental nourishment, to be truly cared for. Ceres is of the environment, of agriculture, of the womb, embodying the love of a mother carrying for her children. Neptune is of our ideals, dreams and visions. In Qabalistic numerology, Neptune is 13, which is "Mem," also the prime mother number, also which arithmetically reduces to 4, Daled, the Sun, number of the multiplication of abundance. The message here? Trust in and follow our dreams and visions, and we will find the nourishment we seek.
Neptune is of ideals, dreams, soul wisdom and vision, but can also be of veils and illusions to the naïve. Neptune is of mysticism and the transcendental. Neptune's ever-shifting and swirling atmospheric surface (changing within days) makes Neptune a dissolver into universal awareness. Neptune teaches us to relinquish the need to control. Neptune also inspires a propensity toward image, media, and the arts; is of movies, performances, and the glamorous.
Neptune's qualities aid to dissolve the veils of egoic personality and to express our true soul intelligence and purpose. Neptune produces universalism and idealism that inspires others, also the ability to see the true meaning imparted beyond the semantics of words and language, the ability to read mythical (picture) language. It also stimulates transcendental awareness, para-perceptual abilities, and clairvoyance.
Like Uranus, the transcendental resonances of Neptune are only active in advanced stages of conscious evolution. In its lower resonance, drugs, specifically synthetic chemicals and smoke, which block the higher aspects of clear Neptunian consciousness, become attractive. Although when used consciously, they can serve to open such awareness, perpetuated, drugs only create delusion and a false sense of empowered awareness rather than opening the higher neurological vision centers in the brain in a permanent and empowered way. Thus, in its lower resonance, Neptune can lead us to project our own illusions and a false personality, a shallow façade or mask often hiding something we do not want to look at in self--a form of our own denials and self-delusion. This lower resonance can also create an inability to discern (kidney/bladder), perceptual problems, and eyes problems such as cataracts, myopia, etc. Here there is avoidance to look within to realize a greater universal truth, our soul intelligence, purpose, and incarnational mission. Instead there is an impressionable attraction to followings, gurus, religions beliefs, the phenomenology of the paranormal, martyrdom / savior complexes, and drugs, anything to give our power away to. There can also be strong mental fixations and neurotic behavior associated with hiding, running, and escaping; an obsession with mirrors, looks, and image accompanied with a fear of nakedness or to show real self.
Trusting in the unseen ever-changing Universal Intelligence at work in our lives is the hallmark of Neptune. Relinquish the need to dissect and define as way to understand, and let the unknowable take the lead if you dare.
Primary associated bio-energy centres: Pineal, Pituitary and Hypothalamus, neurology in general; advanced intuitive and perceptual centres; subtle body energy; solar plexus, pancreas, kidneys, adrenals and bladder.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle. Our Disseminating Moon of Aug 12 occurs in wet sensual psycho-emotional sidereal Pisces. Over the trashing tail of Cetus, the technobureaucratic monster of fear-based human consciousness, and under the Great square of Pegasus. Here again is opportunity to either buy into the entrapping drama or transform self to lift ourselves above it in demonstrable action.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycles last quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon of Aug 15-16 occurs in the last couple degrees of sidereal Aries and conjoins Zaurak of Eridanus, the River of Life, and the double star cluster NGC 869 / 884 in Perseus. The Sun and Moon significantly aspect Pluto (the opener) as well.
This part of the heavens lies under the auspices of the story of the Royal Family. This point (as we cross the cusp of sidereal Aries / Taurus) is where Andromeda's fate is now out of the hands of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia and is being transferred to her beloved Perseus. Perseus is about to slay Medusa to claim his self-mastery prior to being able to step into his intended soul destiny to be capable of helping anyone else. Zaurak is a point along the initiatory river of life where we must hold our own light because the path is dark. Tension and anticipation mounts. Perseus must slay Medusa (his inner fears), lest he will turn to stone (become frozen in fear). Here we must trust our inner heart light and follow through despite any fear that the way is not entirely clear.
See a cool picture of the Persei double star cluster NGC 869 / 884
The Sun moves into sidereal Leo on August 17-18.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn from looking back over the past cycle and look toward the future cycle to come.
This Balsamic Moon of August 19 resides in mid-sidereal Gemini conjoining Alzirr, part of the foot of Pollux (with Alhena), a future oriented point of what is yet to become. The seed? Participation and commencement.
Our next New Moon occurs on August 23 lies in early sidereal Leo conjoining the Heart of the Lion. More to come then.
