Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
Please remember that the purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
New Moon Phase Characteristics
Our New Moon of Dec 9, 2007 resides in Ophiuchus, the thirteenth ecliptical constellation, and in the sidereal sign of Scorpio. The Sun and Moon also conjoin Quaoar (pronounced kwah-whar), one of recently discovered new planets. Quaoar plays a significant role in this month's lunar theme. The Sun, Moon and Quaoar conjoin Ras Algethi, the head of Hercules, and Sabik of Ophiuchus.

Quaoar was discovered in 2002 in Ophiuchus over Antares, Heart of the Scorpion. It has since move a few degrees further in Ophiuchus (in sidereal Scorpio) and now resides between the longitudes of Ras Algethi and Sabik, the location of our New Moon. Quaoar is north of the ecliptic at the same ecliptical latitude as Sabik. Thus the Quaoar-Sabik synthesis is of extra significance due to Quaoar conjoining Sabik in both ecliptical longitude and latitude. (Quaoar is 0° 45' from Sabik. By Jan 8 Quaoar will be just 0° 05' north of Sabik.)
Quaoar was the name given to the "creation force" by the Native American Tongva tribe who were the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles basin in Southern California of North America. According to legend, Quaoar, "came down from heaven; and, after reducing chaos to order, laid out the world on the back of seven giants. He then created the lower animals, and then (or from them) humankind."
Although we are still just beginning to apprehend the astrological nature of Quaoar, Quaoar appears to motivate our return to a way of life that is in harmony with the fundamental forces governing the natural world; to live in attunement to natural order and the natural currents guiding our lives; this being in contrast to living attuned to the fabricated and ordered structure of man based in cultural political religious thought. Paradoxically, the laws based in the mentalized beliefs of man only lead to chaos and perpetuate our continued discord. In this light, Quaoar leads us back to natural ways of living, to trust in and allow our inate instinctual impulses to guide our lives. This requires we get out of our own ways, to relinguish the orthodox ways of life, and ride the natural waves attempting to lead us to our greater fulfilment. More on Quaoar.
Sabik, on the loins of Ophiuchus, closely conjoins Ras Algethi, the Head of Hercules. Sabik embodies the mysteries (knowledge) of the transmutational power of the alchemical process--the mixing of the primal and carnal forces in our lives as well as to the fundamental elements found in nature, such as botanically-derived elements applied in medicines. Sabik embodies the secrets of wholistic medicine. In contrast to allopathic medicine, which denies the emotional role of dis-ease and dis-cord in our lives and treats symptoms with synthetic chemicals that merely cause more chronic conditions to occur, a negative degenerating spiral downward; wholistic medicine honors all aspects of the body as an intimate and integral system. To address the cause of disease and discord rather than merely treating symptoms we must treate ourselves as a whole beings comprise of a soul with its own patterns, as well as the mental, emotional and physical aspects of self--aspects of self that are not exclusive but are one living integrated system.
Many people have learned to suppress emotions, and this is not exclusive to allopathic medicine but is based in our establish cultural ways of life passed on by our upbringing. Allopathic medicine is but a extension of this cultural mentality, that is why is sells. Learning to reveal and embrace our emotions is the key to true healing, as this is most often where the blocked energy lies that causes disease. Suppressed e-motion is the resistance to the "motion of experience" in our lives. Many people live in a mental mode and/or a physical mode, obsessed with changing mental beliefs and patterns of thought to over come discord; or conversely, obsessed with extreme physical exercise or nutrition alone to do so, only to find the same discord and disease in their lives. The key overlooked lies between these two aspects of self--unlocking emotion, where the tension, the resistance to life is held.
The suppression of emotion further extends to the denial of our primal and sexual desires, compounded by the zillions of reinforcing beliefs that isolate this innate beautiful sacred experience of carnal intimacy as being wrong--not spiritual, not of Love, not of God.
Sabik embodies the primal wisdom of life and its secrets, it inspires embracing the passionate, emotional, and carnal aspects of self; and it inspires the discovery of natural cures buy amalgamating the most fundamental and natural aspects of life, it holds the secrets of the "alchemy of self mastery."
Also conjoining Sabik are several potent entries: V2107, the Nova of 1977 also in Ophiuchus; a dynamic X-ray eclipsing binary star in the tail of the Scorpion, one of the brightest identified X-ray sources creating a substantial stellar wind; and the very significant Ara Black Hole, X-ray source V821 on the Altar of the Centaur; all inviting us to surrender our upheld beliefs and enter into the intimate depths of self, to allow the alchemical process, our spiritual transmutation, to occur.
Webster defines Alchemy as the "forerunner of chemistry based on the supposed transformation of matter; a process in which unique elements are combined that produce paradoxical results with no obvious rational explanation."
Consider also the previous Lunar Cycle regarding "relationships of purpose," those that can lead us forth into our evolutionary freedom from the entrapments, life scenarios, and patterns of the past. We are often brought together with each other for such alchemical reasons--the combining of elements that make possible powerful transformation in our lives--often time being unaware of this at the time of meeting, or worse yet denying those relations for one belief or another, perhaps due to the fear to change, to move on, or the fear of intimacy. In our current lunar cycle, we now begin to experience the transformative process such relations and the new directions we are taking together make possible.
The Dec 9, 2007 Quaoar New Moon
Conjoing Sabik is Ras Algethi of Hercules. There are two primary and administrative stars in the northern heavens residing in latter sidereal Scorpio: Ras Alhague, the head of Ophiuchus and Ras Algethi, the head of Hercules, the latter being one of our New Moon stars. Both stars are of wisdom and knowledge, and are of teachers of esoteric wisdom and self-mastery.
Hercules stands upside down in the northern Heavens, north above Ophiuchus, with his feet (foundation) in the celestial dome (seven Heavens), in the realm of the gods, and with his head and hands at work in the realm of humankind aiding those in the incarnate world struggling to claim their freedom from perpetuated mortal entrapment.
Ras Algethi, the head of Hercules, is the lucida (brightest star) of this constellation (~21° sidereal Scorpio). Ras Algethi embodies the wisdom of Hercules (derived partly from his heavenly heritage and partly from his challenging Earthian experience) and contributes significantly to the Ophiuchus / Scorpio theme. Hercules is one seeded from another realm, who is intimately aware of the human dilemma, the struggle and its cause (the alchemical amalgamation of those from the heavens with those of the Earth). His beauty and intelligence he gains from Alcmene his mother and his wisdom of evolutionary matters along with his shrewd sagacity he gains from Zeus is father. The motivation behind his undaunted and bold actions expresses from experiencing the human struggle and knowing the heavenly freedom possible. His presence upon the incarnational plane is of a service capacity, a mission of evolutionary proportion--driven to ensure the evolutionary freedom for all souls on the Earth.
Our Quaoar Lunar Theme is one of education regarding the innate carnal forces and elements of nature and their amalgamation to support our metamorphosis, our changes in life, and our spiritual evolution. It is about surrendering logistical mind and cultural beliefs that keep apart that which is naturally drawn together, and trusting in the natural currents and the mixing of elements those currents stir in our lives, knowing this magnetic force has a far greater purpose than is often apparent; to realize the secrets such amalgamation holds. It is an alchemical cycle, one about turning ordinary metal to gold, that is, illuminating ordinary mortal into an illumined golden soul in self-mastery on Earth. To embrace the carnal (our in-carnate experience) is to become spiritual. It is also about medicine and health care and our need to return to natural approaches in medicine and natural wholistic ways of living--honoring the sacredness of the natural forces guiding our lives.
The Sun's conjunction with Quaoar also marks the mid-point of realization in the current Earth-Quaoar synodic cycle, which may be summed up as the "return to nature." This annual cycle began in June 2007 at the start of the new 13-year Jupiter-Quaoar synodic cycle presented in "The Synods of 2007 - Expansive Mobilization" section of the article "The Synodic Cycles of Pluto, Ixion & Quaoar."
The Jupiter and Quaoar synod initiates an expansive movement to live by laws governed by nature rather than by man's manipulative and dogmatic beliefs.
This New Moon and this lunar cycle also offers us a wonderful opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of the astrological role of Quaoar in lives.
We will also arrive to the mid-points of realization in the Earth-Jupiter and Earth-Pluto synodic cycles in this lunar cycle as the Sun conjoins Jupiter and Pluto.
Saturn and Orcus recently began a new 32-year synodic cycle (Aug 2007) in early sidereal Leo, presented in "The New 32-year Saturn-Orcus Synodic Cycle." Saturn has since moved a bit further in its orbit, being the faster mover of the two. Now, Venus kicks off this prominent 32-year cycle as it initiates a new 225-day Venus-Orcus synodic on Dec 10, 2007; and then a new 230-day Venus-Saturn synodic cycle a couple of days later, on Dec 12, 2007.
The Venus Orcus Synod
Since Orcus moves quite slow, the Venus and Orcus synod looking from the Sun (heliocentric view) occurs nearly at the same ecliptical location (at 3° 43' Leo), as the Saturn-Orcus synod, which lies just before Regulus, Heart of the Lion. The theme of this cycle (similar to that of Saturn-Orcus) is set by Alphard of Hydra; and Adhafera, Al Jabha and Algieba, which create the head of the Lion.
Orcus brings attention to whether we are living true to our deeper internal desires, our souls' desire, to our "soul oaths." It's orbital plane being aligned with primary axis of the Holy Cross reveals "the time is now."
Is your heart torn? A good question to consider. There should be no difference between our souls' true intent and the feeling in our hearts. Trusting heart is to trust the soul. Choosing the path of the heart can sometimes be a lone path when we are breaking new trail, when we are upon a stage where all may see as we walk away from the comfort of all that has been--through the portal only opened by the passion in our hearts.
The Venus Saturn Synod
The Venus Saturn synod occurs just past Regulus (at about 7° 28' Leo). This 230-day synodic theme is defined by Phecda and Megrez of the Great Bear; the stars of the Sextant, Gamma and Alpha; and the Vela Pulsar upon the sail of Argo Navis.
Venus is the Roman name for the Greek Aphrodite, goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Venus has also been called the "jewel of the sky"; "Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus as the evening star"; from a modern day astronomer's view, "Earth's sister planet"; and from an astrologer's view, the "compliment to Mars."
Image: Aphrodite (circa 100 BC): Found on the Aegean island of Melos in 1820.
South of the Lion is the Sextant, a navigational instrument used to determine the "vertical" position of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon. The sextant reveals the need to reorient self so we know our position so we can plot our course, and take a new tack on our journeys in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner directive and truth. On a mundane level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life, to establish our position so we can plot or take a new tack toward our goals.
North of the Lion lies Ursa Major which extends west over sidereal Cancer as well as east through Leo and just into the cusp of sidereal Virgo. The variety of the Bear's stellar qualities fall into the ecliptic throughout these two signs, Cancer and Leo. The Stars of the Great Bear are associated with the global scene and world powers and of where we place our allegiance. The over-seeing stars of Ursa Major west of Regulus (Early Leo and Cancer) are those of the integrous side of the Bear--that which is oriented toward a Greater Vision: to be a caring and nurturing force for ourselves and for the peoples of the Earth, and they also imply this responsibility. Those to the east, which lie over the later “hind of the Lion” toward Benatnasch, the tail of the Bear, at the Leo-Virgo cusp, are of those focused in controlling and perpetuating the suppression of people through manipulation--indeed the Bear is torn.
Megrez and Phecda mark this transition point. Megrez invites us to look at things from a different or askew perspective so we may see what is otherwise obscured from our current position and perspective. Megrez invites us to gain a more embracing perspective as to where we ally our energies, with whom we have allegiance and participate with; and to reconsider our allegiances, our paths and approaches in life. Phecda provides support to due so, and it is this Megrez -Phecda line, almost parallel to the Regulus ecliptical meridian (vertical integrity to self), that asks for a decision.
In this case, with Venus, the question becomes: are we living truly to that which is in our hearts, or are we following a path not truly our passion, following the status quo, what appears to be "the right thing to do" in majority's eyes? Saturn demands we address this issue and to demonstrably concretize our heart's truth. If we do not set heart free to fly, a heavy burden may squelch its passionate fire forever.
The Vela Pulsar provides a relentless and constant reminder, like a persistent blowing wind, that a choice must be made to regain our bearings and readjust our course if we are to make it through the portal of the heart.
In the midst of the Venus-Orcus and Venus-Saturn synods is the conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto occurring in early sidereal Sag on Dec 11, 2007. The very significant Jupiter-Pluto 13-year synodic cycle just began marking the "Grand Opening" into a time of "expansive movement." The Juptier-Pluto synodic cycle was presented in the pervious lunar cycle and also in the "The Synodic Cycles of Pluto, Ixion & Quaoar." The conjunction occurring now grounds this very opportunistic event into our everyday lives--another affirmation that the doorway is at hand. The conjunction occurs between Galactic Center and the Gate of God, and lies under the auspices of Etamin, the overseeing Eye of the Dragon.
Jupiter and Pluto's bio-harmonic resonances synergize quite well together supporting success in the expansion of our pursuits. One example is: the "Diameter Harmonics" of Jupiter and Pluto are very close. Pluto's Diameter harmonic translated to the audio spectrum is 526.32 Hz while Jupiter's is 534.28 Hz. This is quite close to middle "C" (523 HZ). These frequencies (the average of the two) translate to 8.2859...Hz in the brain wave spectrum. This is also very close to Earth's "Perhelion Distance Harmonic" (when Earth is closest to the Sun), which is 8.3804 Hz. This cross-resonance between the three harmonics is significant and is one of many synergies in the art-science of planetary bio-harmonics. 8Hz is a stable and centering bio-resonance. The Diameter Harmonic frequencies of Pluto and Jupiter translate to 5179.4 Angstroms and 5102.3 Angstroms respectively, which is the color green in the visible light spectrum (the visible light spectrum is 40 octaves up from the middle audio spectrum). Perfect green is 5132 Angstroms. (The angstrom is a unit of measure for the wavelength of visible light.)
Each Planet has many harmonics resonances of which the "Diameter Harmonic" is merely one. Planetary diameter harmonics are base on a standing or fixed wave of the planetary sphere. The diameter harmonic relates with strength, centeredness and stability in regard to the specific planetary quality. I hope to be able to offer several light-sound bio-harmonic attunement tools as well as an in-depth publication regarding this art-science--a longer-term project of mine--when I have the resources to fully pursue this intriguing work. See Planetary Bio-Harmonics for a very brief introduction to this science behind the art of astrology.
Etamin, eye of the Dragon, opens the galactic portal for those making transition into this new era, for those who claimed the wisdom and empowerment by embracing the initiations of life, actually the initiations incurred by soul over the past 12,000 years of temporal darkness. The opening occurs for those who are now prepared for a greater mission to ensue, to participate from the expanded awareness of natural cosmic order, rather than from man's righteous and egoic structures of belief.
Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

Our Crescent Moon of Dec 11 in sidereal Capricorn conjoins Theta of Aquila the Eagle; Alpha Microscopium; and the 1987A Super Nova Remnant on the edge of the Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud in our very southern constellation Dorardo, the Gold Fish.
The Great Looped Nebula (Tarantula Nebula), a huge stellar nursery hosting some of the most massive stars known resides in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy near our own galaxy. The nebula extends about 1000 light years across, with streamers extending out to about 1800 light years, making the Tarantula Nebula the largest emission nebula in the sky--about 30 times larger than the Great Orion Nebula, which lies in our own galaxy. The Tarantula Nebula contains the fantastic Supernova SN 1987A, the result of a star that suddenly blew to bits in a spectacular supernova on February 23, 1987, then seen with the unaided eye, and one of the brightest supernovas since the Kepler supernova of 1604. Astrologically, supernovas explosions are one of the cosmic phenomena stimulating an expansion of consciousness. Fittingly, 1987 was the year of the Harmonic Convergence movement. Image credit: ESO
Theta Aquila is of equilibrium and poise; a place of removed stillness. As Eagle sits high upon its perch, with eyes capable of focusing on the most minute detail (Microscopium), it assesses, examines, and awaits its opportunity. Removed and alone, Eagle embodies the willingness to examine our deepest emotions and hidden but true feelings; and to then dive into the world with surety and boldness.
The Crescent Moon just about to conjoin the Centaurs, Chiron and Nessus, suggests a bridge or abyss to be crossed is at hand. See "Chiron & Nessus under the Eye of the Eagle" for the unfolding Chiron-Nessus theme.
First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.
The Sun moves into sidereal Sag on Dec 17, minutes before First Quarter Moon. This places the Quarter Moon exactly on the cusp of sidereal Pisces. Mercury also conjoins the Sun (in a superior conjunction) marking the midpoint of the current 116-day Earth-Mercury synodic cycle set by Alrisha, the knot of emotional attachment in the mortal world, and Mirach of Andromeda, the bonds of love--and to know the difference. The full Mercury synodic theme was presented in the Oct 11, 2007 lunar cycle.
On our First Quarter Moon we have realizations about the essence of this Mercury synodic cycle, our issues surrounding it, and draw experience, our external stimulus, to address it in demonstrable action. The action is however not one intellectually based, but is emotional based--appropriately stimulating our need to palpate this Mercurial theme at the gut-level and to act upon those deep inner feelings.
Cuspal Pisces is marked by the Zetas of Reticuli (Zeta 1 & Zeta 2); and the nuclear galaxy, BL Lacerta (marking the end of sidereal Aquarius); and Theta Pisces and Matar of Pegasus (marking the start sidereal Pisces).
This point in the ecliptic marks our movement from high mental activity and the vulnerability we may have due to psychic manipulation and emotional entrapment that living in the mind causes, exemplified by the Zetas of Reticuli, to the wet sensual emotional aquatic world of Pisces. Matar, on the left forearm of Pegasus, is from Al Sa‘d al Matar--the Fortunate Rain--the wet emotional gush point in the zodiak providing a release from built up psychic tension.
Saturn begins its retrograde in sidereal Leo while Mercury and Pluto conjoin in sidereal Sag on Dec 18-19 along with Jupiter and Sol. Time and space stretches providing an opening for extraordinarily truthful communication; even cosmic awareness as the limits of mind dissolve to reveal an unbounded truth. This event, which crescendos on the Solstice as the Moon grows to Full over the next few days, initiates the Grand Opening of the galactic portal at hand.
Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
Several events occur commencing on the Gibbous Moon of Dec 20 and run through the Full Moon of Dec 23-34. The Gibbous Moon and Ceres conjoin in sidereal Aries; Mercury conjoins Jupiter in sidereal Sag; the Sun and Pluto conjoin in sidereal Sag; the Solstice occurs on Dec 21-22 as the Sun conjoins the Gate of God in sidereal Sag; the Sun then conjoins Jupiter; and then the Full Moon occurs in sidereal Gemini.
Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant was discovered by Tycho Brache in 1572 AD in Denmark. Supernovas play a significant role in the awakening of human consciousness. Brache (Born: 5/16/1571; Died: 11/15/1630) revealed the nova was located beyond the moon and was also the first to produce a modern star guide, inspiring the movement from personality-egoic centered reality, one separate from Source (purported by the dark-age church to control the masses) to that of the durative soul consciousness which transcends the sphere of incarnate self (Earth). It certainly was a time requiring external catalyst to help awaken humanity from a dark period. For example: On August 23 and 24, 1572, 50,000 Huguenonts (French Protestants considered "heretics" by the Roman Catholic Church) in Paris and surrounding provinces were killed by Catholics in France. The massacre was called for by the queen mother Catherine de Medici and was applauded by Pope Gregory XIII--dubbed "St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre." This was during the time of the Renaissance, just after Copernicus published his heliocentric theory of the solar system in Poland (1543 AD), and just before Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar in Italy (1582). It was within one year of when Johannes Kepler was born (1571). Kepler later revealed the sacred geometry (Phi progression) natural to the organization of our solar system--the music of the spheres. Kepler played a significant role in bringing to light the long-lost art-sciences. Image Credit: NASA/CXC/Rutgers/J.Warren & J.Hughes, et. al.
The Gibbous Moon
Moon conjoins Ceres several hours before the Gibbous Moon as we push through into the pollinating phase of the lunar cycle bringing our attention to consider that which is truly nourishing in our lives,
Our Gibbous Moon conjoins the stars of Triangulum, Beta and Gamma; Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant of 1572 A.D., an xray source in Cassiopeia; Zibal of Eridanus; Almach of Andromeda; and Menkar of Cetus.
Zibal marks a pause, a point of consideration, along Eridanus, the river of life inviting an introspective moment while Triangulum invites us to look beyond the dramatics of those around us and of own life scenarios to realize any entrapping conditions manifest in our lives are but a reflection of the projection of our own fears--a key in the revelation found here along the river.
In classical astrology Almach is considered to be "honorable and eminent," however, Almach is the beautiful but snagged foot of Andromeda about to be snapped by the jaws (Menkar) of ole' Cetus, the fear-instilling technobureaucratic monster created by collective human consciousness. Although we may find ourselves in entrapping situations apparently caused by forces around us, Almach inspires us to take responsibility for our naiveté and to do the inner work to become self-reliant rather than dependent and thus continually at the mercy of any manipulative forces around us or entrapping situations we may find ourselves in.
Alignments with Tycho's supernova support the expansion from egoic / victim consciousness, where we believe we are victims of other beings, ones that are responsible for our condition and ones that must come to save us from it (or devour us as food as some people believe), to realizing that we must stand on our own, responsible for self, rather than giving our power to those who wish to control. Here in the "Initiatory Gate of sidereal Aries," we learn to realize our role: to become responsible for our human condition as well as to claim our freedom from its bondage.
Mercury-Jupiter & Sun-Pluto on the Solstice
This four-fold conjunction occurs on the "Gate of God" in sidereal Sag. Mercury and Jupiter stimulate expansive communication, as well as mobilizing the logistical aspects in our lives. As the Sun moves to conjoin Pluto and Jupiter surrounding the Solstice, it marks point of climatic realization regarding the current Earth-Jupiter synodic theme; the current Earth-Pluto synodic theme, and links these two annual synodic themes with the longer 13-year Jupiter-Pluto synodic theme. This also reveals the essence of the (astronomical) New Year, which begins on the Solstice. And, it all synchronizes with the Earth's precessional Holy Cross, now fully active--all revealing the Grand Opening of a vast and expansive portal in consciousness. 2008 - We now engage at warp speed.
The Earth-Jupiter 399-day synodic cycle began on June 5, 2007, presented in the May 16, 2007 Lunar Planner: Sculpting Our Lives.
The Earth-Pluto synodic cycle began on June 18, 2007 conjoining Galactic Center, presented in the June 14, 2007 Lunar Planner: Tenacity of the Heart.
The new 13-year Jupiter-Pluto Cycle was presented in the pervious lunar cycle and also in the "The Synodic Cycles of Pluto, Ixion & Quaoar."
Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon occurs in sidereal Gemini conjoined retrograde Mars on Dec 23-24.
The new Mars Synodic Cycle begins slightly after the Full Moon in the lunar cycle's "day of realization." Thus our Full Moon theme and the realization of this lunar cycle's theme is one and same as the new Mars 780-day synodic cycle theme starting now.
The alignment is: the Sun, Earth, Full Moon, Mars. This alignment occurs at the Foot of Castor, conjoining the principal star Tejat of Gemini.
"IC433 is a supernova remnant of a star that exploded about 35000 years ago. It is located approx. 5000 light years away. To the left is IC444, a large emission nebula, which also contains a small reflection nebula (the small bluish patch in the upper middle). The two bright stars are Eta (Tejat) and Mu (Dirah) of Gemini." Eta and Mu are less than 2° apart.
NASA Hubble Space Telescope
The foot of Castor is composed of Tejat, Eta Gemini, IC 444--a large emission nebula, and Dirah (Tejat Posterior) Mu Gemini. Tejat and IC 444 portend eminence and renown, and will make that which they align with stand out in a unique fashion. Tejat will make visible that which has been suppressed, oppressed, hidden in the closet, but destined to be seen.
Alignments with the foot of Castor indicate that it is time to come out of hiding, to become visible, to stand forth in the limelight, and to make self visible, available, and approachable. This can also indicate the need to emerge from our own mental obscurations and illusions. Tejat may indicate it is time to claim one's role in the physical world, and to take the steps at hand that are required for the physical unfoldment of what we want and for our participation in the world. It is time to do what is required. Tejat can also indicate those who are physically marked in some way: including birth marks, genetic marks, or other unique features including tattoos, and especially jewels; or it may reveal marks or signs indicating it is time for action.
As Tejat brings to the surface that which has been suppressed, we may draw experiences that reflect parts of our selves that seem rather dark and opposing to our unfoldment. Forces of the mortal world may indeed be out for our demise, but they are our worthy opponents, for they reflect the fears, hesitancies, and blockages within our selves to step through into our paths of fulfillment in the world. Tejat asks that we be willing to walk through the shadows of self to claim our power and place in the physical world. The more we express the truth of who we are openly in the world the less forces that may suppress that truth have any power.
The Tejat Mars-Full Moon brings vision, enthusiasm and realization about the purpose of the alchemical metamorphosis taking place in this lunar cycle as well as the role of Orcus to re-establish natural/divine order.
"Spirit Approaches "Methuselah" Outcrop on Mars
This false-color rendering shows the scene acquired by NASA's Spirit rover on martian day, or sol, 454 (April 13, 2005), using its panoramic camera filters at 750-, 530-, and 430-nanometer wavelengths. In the background is "Clark Hill," nicknamed for one of the Columbia astronauts. Spirit is looking down at the outcrop on the left, nicknamed "Methuselah," from a slightly higher position, and will spend some time studying the outcrop before searching for a different route." Image credit: NASA/JPL/Cornell
The new Tejat 780-day Mars synodic cycle (hallmarked by the Full Moon) initiates a creative and powerful movement by those making this metamorphosis and acting for the principles articulated in this lunar cycle's theme: especially by Ras Algethi and Orcus--those in service to educate and lead our return to living in harmony with natural law and the sacredness of life. It suggests a time may ensue in which the patriarchal governing forces may start to favorably shift by those who have been in the closet, but who have been preparing and making the inner metamorphosis required to now emerge in the world, who are even destined to emerge. A turning of priorities and the nature of leadership, it would seem to me, is at hand as we now move into the next level of acceleration of Global Change. Our new Mars synodic theme will fully engage as Mars returns direct on Jan 30, 2007 in the following lunar cycle.
Mars Video: Flight Into Mariner Valley (Valles Marineris, Mars) - March 13, 2006
"This video created by JPL's Solar System Visualization Team uses real scientific data from Odyssey's Thermal Emission Imaging System's Infrared Camera to simulate a flight from a few hundred feet above the largest canyon in the solar system, Valles Marineris on Mars. The image data was draped over topography information from the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter on the Mars Global Surveyor orbiter. Every canyon wall and curve in the animation is rendered from real data from Mars except for the simulated atmosphere, dust devils, and dust storms."
Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit in the cycle, of claiming its gift.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on Dec 27 in sidereal Cancer conjoining Naos of the Argo; Merak of Ursa Major; the hind foot of the Great Bear composed of Tania Bor and Tania Aus; and Algenubi, eye of the Lion.
This Disseminating Moon requires the courage of self-conviction, of belief in self, in our paths in life, to have the inner confidence to step way from the convention of mass consensus, beyond the boundaries of known self and our existing way in the world.
Algenubi, Eye of the Lion, best embodies the theme of this few degree band of the ecliptic. Algenubi is of "breaking trail." These are the explorers and adventurers with interest beyond mere egoic importance to fit in with those performing on the worldly stage. Algenubi provides an opening into the innerdimensional chambers of the "Heart of the Lion"--embodied by Regulus. To enter this entrance to the inner sanctuary of the Lion Path, and to find the hidden, golden treasures within, we must have integrity within--to live true to our hearts, to our soul purpose on Earth.
Dubhe, Alpha Ursa Major and Merak, Beta Ursa Major, are the two brightest stars of Ursa Major. At this time in Earth's precessional cycle, a line drawn from Dubhe through Merak leads directly to Earth's current North Celestial Pole (near the star, Polaris, of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor). Merak and Dubhe represent the alignment of personal will and divine will in allegiance to the evolutionary fulfillment of Earth's polar precessional cycle--to the fulfillment of evolutionary cycle of the soul. Merak provides the motivation to get on with it, to engage.
Also conjoining Algenubi and Merak is the hind-foot of the Great Bear composed of Tania Bor and Tania Aus, implying that the power of our convictions is what propels us beyond our current, accepted life. This is a power point in the zodiak; a place to leave the comforts of our existing reality behind and to confidently surge into new territory.
Naos, Zeta Puppis of the Argo, is one star of five creating the "Egyptian X." Naos is on the aplustre of the stern of the Argo, and is a star of power and purpose behind the mission of the soul. The stars of the Argo are associated with greater evolutionary matters of the soul and ensuring our evolutionary fulfillment. The five stars creating the "Egyptian X" are Procyon, Betelgeuse, Naos, and Phaet Alpha Columba the Dove; and the center star Sirius.
Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter.
Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on Dec 31 in center of sidereal Virgo conjoining Diadem, Alpha Coma Berenices, the Crown of the Virgin; Vindemiatrix and Porrima, both of the Virgin.
Diadem, Alpha Coma Berenices, is the jeweled crown in the Virgin's hair. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent spiritual realms. Diadem accentuates our capacity to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance which communicates through the magnetic forces of nature, through the world around us, as articulated by the stars of southern Corvus the messenger bird.
Vindemiatrix and Porrima mark the centre of sidereal Virgo and embody the essence of sidereal Virgo. This is also the exalted seat of our winged messenger Mercury, significantly adding perspective and understanding to the nature of the stars at this ecliptical longitude. Mercury is the vessel by which these stars function in their highest expression, that is, through the neurology of communication and logistics, and all that Mercury characterizes. (Mercury's exaltation in mid-Virgo lends a clue to why Mercury is a primary element in agricultural commodities market forecasting.)
Porrima, just two degrees north of the ecliptic expresses through the higher nature of the Mercurial mind--our higher brain centres that activate our capacity for clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima opens our ability to have foresight to see future probabilities. Vindemiatrix, just north of Porrima, classically the Harvester, indicates the time is at hand, that it is in the timing. "This star is said to confer great powers of thought and an exacting, severe nature" (siderealist Andrés Takra). Both stars lie over Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us. Porrima and Vindemiatrix offers this fore-vision so we may act accordingly to meet the future events to come already precipitating from the realm of probabilities.
Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon of Jan 4 resides in early sidereal Scorpio, just in front of the Scorpion's head and under the left foot of Ophiuchus. Venus and Juno (partnerships of the heart) are nearby. The Moon conjoins several entries: The Circini Spiral Galaxy, ZubenHakrabi of Libra, on the southern arm of the Scorpion; and south is Centuarus and its lucida, Alpha Centauri, the principle star at this longitude. Also conjoining is Eta Hercules and Alpha Chamaeleon.
Hubble Space Telescope records the beauty surrounding the black hole at the heart of the Circinus Galaxy.
The first few degrees of sidereal Scorpio, approaching the head of the Scorpion, resides in the domain the Centaur, teacher of self-mastery; also under the neck of the Serpent, held in the hand of Ophiuchus, that is reaching for the Northern Crown, symbol of attaining freedom from the clutches of the Scorpion, from being entrapped in cyclic patterns of growth. Here at cuspal Scorpio the theme of sacrifice and offerings arise, but sacrifice does not mean self-sacrifice, in the true sense of the word it means to give up a lower office for a higher office. When offering up the lesser, we are also faced with taking on a greater responsibility, moving from victim consciousness, where we merely acquiesce to the conditions of life in which we find ourselves--caught in the clutches of the Scorpion--to taking responsibility for creating our life scenarios and choosing a new path that supports our experiential growth, physical fulfillment, and spiritual maturity.
Alpha Centauri is another master teacher star. The benevolent Centaur teaches the right way to live to attain one's self-mastery in the physical world and subsequently to claim one's evolutionary freedom from entrapment in the karmic re-incarnational process of soul growth. Such mastery is exemplified by Ophiuchus who stands over the Scorpion and holds the serpent pointing to the Northern Crown, which lies north above the chelae of the Scorpion.
The Centaurian training is not merely an intellectual understanding of these principles but is learned through an experiential journey moment-by-moment that leads one to true inner wisdom and knowledge on an energetic neurological level, resulting in the inner realization that makes self-mastery of the primal forces of life actualized and right action crystal clear.
The near by Circini Spiral Galaxy embodies the principle of choosing the higher path of the soul, one's purpose on Earth.
Alpha Chamaeleon, generally a symbol of adaptability, change and new beginnings, lies in the southern heavens and articulates the ability to adjust to any situation, but not through subservience or acquiescence, but in mastery of self and with individuality and intuitive sensitivity to one's surroundings.
This describes the seed coalescing from this lunar cycle that will sprout anew into the next lunar cycle's theme. Our next lunar cycle begins on the New Moon of Jan 8, 2008 in sidereal Sag conjoining the two primary stars of the Zen Archer.
