Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
Please remember that the purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Our New Moon of Aug 30, 2008 resides in sidereal Leo. It lies between Alpha and Beta Sextans, and conjoins the Vela X-1 neutron star in Argo Navis; Thuban of Draco; and Alioth of the Great Bear (Ursa Major).
Thuban, in the far northern heavens, was Earth’s pole star circa 2600 BC near the "tear of the Bear," a point in Earth’s ~25,920-year "evolutionary cycle of the soul" at which a turning and fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the Earth with their antics to do so.
The 180° point in the "Cycle of the Holy Cross," which occurred about 4880 BC, marked the epitome of darkness in the last temporal 12,000-year period in the precessionally driven, evolutionary cycle of the soul. Dark manipulative forces were specifically dominant from around 4800 BC to 2600 BC in Earth's evolutionary cycle of the soul.
Alignments with Thuban indicate a responsibility for having altered the direction of evolutionary affairs for life on Earth in a negative way with repercussions incurred at soul level, and with responsibility to ensure evolutionary fulfillment now. Thuban is not about the punctual moment, but more about the backdrop, the durative time-stream in which we find ourselves. Thuban's eminence in our celestial sphere demands we take responsibility for our past-future experience throughout our sojourn on Earth, especially for the destructive or disrupting use of force.
Conjoining Thuban from the southern heavens is Vela X-1, a potent neutron star in the sail of the Argo, that creates a relentless wind driving us to respond to life. It engages us to participate in creating our long-term evolutionary destiny. In typical black hole fashion, this is an all or nothing deal, as that which we set in course affects the nature of our evolutionary future. If we take no stance we are merely destined to chance.

Also conjoining Thuban is Alioth of the Great Bear, the star of personal will. Alignments with Alioth teach us that our personal actions can alter the evolutionary currents that create our souls' evolutionary destiny. Alioth stimulates the use of personal will and our need to initiate personal action. Alioth is one of the classical seven rays of the Great Bear teaching incarnating souls the ramifications of the use of personal power. Alioth can express as forceful and manipulative use of power merely for personal gain, or when mastered, it can express as personal will attuned to Divine Will in phenomenal accomplishment that responsibly steers our evolutionary course. Curiously, Bear teaches us to be a caring and nurturing force, to have respect for all life--lessons global powers have yet to learn.
The theme of the Sextant is about navigation. It reveals our need to determine our present position / situation, and to set our bearings to the direction we wish to move with conscious consideration for the current evolutionary winds and currents upon which we ride.
This lunar cycle is about conscious and responsible use of personal will. A dilemma sometimes arises as when to use personal will and when to allow Divine Will to have its way. These however are like breathing yang and yin, a graceful dance. To set our intent and to take action with conscious deliberation is our responsibility as conscious co-creators. This is the out-breath, the expressive. However, we must surrender, allow and accept the response to our actions provided by the universe around us--the in-breath, the perceptive. Based upon that response, we adjust our course and act again in what becomes a continual, intimate and interactive dance through life. This is how we grow and learn how to steer our evolutionary destiny. It is only when we ignore our need to surrender, allow and accept in this dance, that personal will becomes forceful use of power. We then come to battle life like a raging storm rather than to masterfully sail through it. In the extreme, we seek to place blame outside of self, believing that which occurs in our lives is either a blessing or a curse. In contrast, if we abandon our responsibility to set our intent and to act, we live in a sate of ambiguity. In doing so, the universe, quite naturally, responds with ambiguity, leaving us mercilessly floating to be tossed to and fro in whatever weather may be occurring around us, never really growing or learning much at all about the art of will, this dance, the breath of life.
Several hours after New Moon, the Moon conjoins somber Saturn, bringing a bit of attention to the theme of responsibility, the need to ground and concretize, and the need to confront our fears.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, The Aug 30 New Moon is an ideal time to work with the Saturn and Earth audio meditations in tandum. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the Lunar Cycle Timing Chart, found under "Resources" on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.
On September 1 and 2, the Moon conjoins Venus Mercury and Mars all of which reside in early sidereal Virgo. This threesome will continue to play a significant role throughout this lunar cycle as they all conjoin, and with Mercury beginning its retrograde later in the lunar cycle.
After this kick-off, as the Moon conjoins all three just after New Moon, Mercury will then conjoin Mars after First Quarter Moon; Venus will then conjoin Mars just after Gibbous Moon; then as Mercury slows to its station, Venus and Mercury conjoin just before Full Moon; then Mars and Mercury conjoin just after the Equinox Last Quarter Moon of Sept 21-22. Finally Mercury begins its retrograde on Sept 24.
The theme here is the synthesis of mind, heart, and action; and establishing synergy within our inner biological environment. A simple question to ask ourselves is if all three are in harmony. If not, we are not participating from personal integrity. The integrated union of our Mercury, Venus and Mars bio-energy centers is an accomplishment of the highest order in our evolutionary sojourn on Earth. These are of the intellect, mind speech and communication; of the heart, the intuitive, our passion, sensual and erotic nature; and of creative action, our sexuality, and the use of raw primal force. Do we understand, do we feel, and do we respond?

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
This Crescent Moon occurs on Sept 3 on the cusp of sidereal Virgo-Libra and conjoins Spica, the base chakra of Virgo; and Archturus, the loins of Boötes. This is the interface point in the ecliptic between our inner environment and our outer environment; a place of creating a harmonious portal for the expression of new life, for the birth and evolutionary fulfillment of the soul.
Although the constellation of Virgo begins at start of the sidereal sign of Virgo, it extends through the first half of the sidereal sign of Libra. The constellation of Virgo embraces ~46° of the zodiak. The Virgin lies supine with her head at the beginning of Virgo--with Coma Berenices, the Halo of the Virgin just above. The Virgin’s base chakra (Spica, Alpha Virgo) marks the cusp of Virgo / Libra, while the Virgin’s legs extend well into Libra, with the "feet of the Virgin" marking the center (15°) of sidereal Libra. The image here is of the Virgin giving birth of a new soul into the reincarnational clutches of the Scorpion. To learn more about this imagery, see the Astronomical Truth of the Virgin.
Archturus, the primary star of Boötes, is the administrative seat responsible for the safe evolutionary unfoldment and ascension of Earth and humanity--supporting the pure birth and healthy and harmonious incarnate life of the soul. Archturus marks the genitals in the figuring and embodies the essence or seed of Boötes, the provider for and protector of the Virgin principle. Archturus lies directly over, and conjoins Spica, the base chakra (Vesica Pisces) of the Virgin. This conjunction indicates a destined, sanctified, and perfect Divine Union. This ecliptical location is also about creating the proper and harmonious environmental resonance for such a union and its eloquent creative manifestation and expression.
Archturus stands against the fallen corrupt (Benatnasch) totalitarian world powers that have demonstrated the inability over and again to ensure evolutionary fulfillment, with the continual destruction of the peoples of the Earth and typical catastrophic outcomes. The body of Boötes stands between the pure lucida of the Virgin (Spica) blocking the attempted manipulations of the corrupt (Benatnasch) world powers. Boötes ensures the proper use of creative and reproductive powers and all that is involved in creating the proper environment for our harmonious evolutionary unfoldment.
Spica, Alpha Virgo, (a rotating binary star with a period of 4.015 days), is the Virgin's base chakra / Vesica Pisces. Spica is of "loyalty & fidelity"--to Boötes, her divine compliment, to the Archturian directive, to the divinely intended seed / soul designed for their alchemical union--to see to the safe ascension of Earth and Humanity. Spica embodies knowledge about the use of body fluids, of herbs and elixirs, and of our sexual and reproductive energies; and their proper use in the art of lovemaking and sacred sex.
This Divine couple, "Boötes and the Virgin," exemplify the truly intended soul couple, the twin flamed soul made manifest, two in compatibility, in harmony and balance, and able to express, birth, and manifest Divine Will. This image also exemplifies the creative process of properly birthing a soul into the reincarnational process due to a compatible and harmonious inner relationship and a proper and harmonious external environment ideal for the new birth to attain its evolutionary freedom from the Scorpion's re-incarnational clutches, claiming its own Christhood--to attain the Northern Crown, which lies north, above the feet of the Virgin.
With the Mercury-Venus-Mars dynamic and our Spica-Archturus Crescent Moon, our lunar theme about the "Art of Personal Will" starts to expand with need to establish integrated harmony within self, compatibility and balance in our relations, and harmony in the environments in which we participate.
The Sun conjoins Saturn just after Crescent Moon on Sept 3-4 in sidereal Leo. This means the Earth, the Sun and Saturn align. This marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the current 378-day Earth-Saturn synodic cycle that began on Feb 24, 2008. The theme of this synodic cycle was presented in the Feb 6, 2008 Lunar Planner. Curiously, in the serendipity of heavenly events, this Earth-Saturn synodic theme is one and same as this month's lunar theme. We can say that this lunar cycle demonstrably articulates the revelation we have today about this underlying Earth-Saturn cycle.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, The Sept 3-4 is an ideal time to work with the Saturn and Earth audio meditations in tandum. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the Lunar Cycle Timing Chart, found under "Resources" on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.
Synodic cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in thier orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.
This First Quarter Moon occurs on Sep 7 in sidereal Scorpio and conjoins Juno, asteroid of covenant relations. Thus our external stimulus to action is very much catalized by and associated with our personal and significant relations; and also with any compatibility issues and/or any superiority/inferiority and self-worth issues. More about Juno.
The Moon and Juno conjoin Ras Algethi, the principal star and head of Hercules; and Sarin, one of the shoulders of Hercules. Both stars lie over and align with the left leg of Ophiuchus, the illumined one who stands in self mastery upon the Scorpion.
Ras Algethi, the head of Hercules, is the lucida (brightest star) of this constellation. Ras Algethi embodies the wisdom of Hercules (derived partly from his heavenly heritage and partly from his challenging Earthian experience) and contributes significantly to the Ophiuchus / Scorpio theme. Hercules is one seeded from another realm but who is intimately aware of the human dilemma, the struggle and its cause (the alchemical amalgamation of those from the heavens with those of the Earth). His beauty and intelligence he gains from Alcmene his mother and his wisdom of evolutionary matters along with his shrewd sagacity he gains from Zeus is father. The motivation behind his undaunted and bold actions expresses from experiencing the human struggle and knowing the heavenly freedom possible. His presence upon the incarnational plane is of a service capacity, a mission of evolutionary proportion--to ensure our evolutionary freedom both personally and for all souls on Earth. Hercules helps and teaches others to claim their freedom from the dominion of others and from false beliefs they may hold. Sarin is of strength and responsibility to aid others in their struggle for freedom.
Thus our Juno First Quarter Moon's stimulus to action can emerge from our most personal realtions. It may motivate us to take steps in our relations that support personal freedom and well being for all parties, rather than sustaining a condition of dependency, struggle, unbalance, and control.
Jupiter completes its retrograde in mid-sidereal Sag on Sept 7-8 bringing a mobilizing and expansive force to our lunar month. This marks the full commencement for the current Earth-Jupiter 400-day synodic cycle that recently began under the auspices of Lyra during Jupiter's retrograde on July 9, 2008. In summary: "This new 400-day Jupiter cycle opens a multiplicity of opportunity on Earth and in our lives. The path is not narrow, ridged, pre-defined or destined, but now becomes vast and expansive. Tremendous mobilizing currents of visionary inspiration and high ideals are at hand for those willing to move with this Jovian force." The full text about the theme of this Jupiter cycle was presented in the July 2, 2008 Lunar Planner.
Pluto follows Jupiter, completing its retrograde on Sept 8-9, providing an opening to move from the antiquated and through new doors for those who made the personal changes demanded by the very significant Pluto Full Moon Solstice Portal that occurred in June of 2008--presented in the June 3, 2008 Lunar Planner.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, Sept 7-9 is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter and Pluto audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the Lunar Cycle Timing Chart, found under "Resources" on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
This Gibbous Moon occurs on Sept 11 in early sidereal Capricorn and conjoins Algedi, Alpha and Dabih, Beta of Capricorn; and lies under the auspices of Aquila the Eagle, and over Indus, the indigenous native.
Algedi is of covert and secret places: caves, spiritual retreats, sanctuaries and sacred sites. Algedi is also of places of unique purpose: scientific or medical centers, even military outposts. Although such places may seem to be isolated, lying helter-skelter upon the Earth, they are strategically and naturally distributed upon Earth’s energy grid. That which occurs at these locations is of significance in the greater evolutionary process for all souls and for the Earth herself because the energy at these points radiates throughout the Earth's energy matrix. Algedi can also be of covert operations, manipulative maneuvers, and all that is secret or hidden behind the scenes.
Indus is the native indigenous person, much like the Native American, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab, or the Mountain Shaman--sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Indus can be the steward of a special place, a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways. This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, and passionate. It can even be of fanaticism and obsession. Although seemingly driven from personal motive, it is often of those with a broad global vision and special interest. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery. Indus has respect for the land, for life, and is sensitive to a place's power and purpose.
Aquila, perched high, is of equilibrium and poise, with global vision and local purpose. This point in the ecliptic brings our attention to the importance of the places in which we reside or sojourn to, special places strategic to our purpose. Different places on the Earth resonate in unique ways with our bio-harmonic makeup. The unique resonances occurring when we are at different places on Earth's energy grid can be supportive or debilitating in very unique ways. Conscious choice of, with sensitivity and respect for, the places we reside are essential to our life purpose.
Our magnetic Gibbous Moon may draw us to the secretive, the hidden, to special places of power for a specific purpose, or to people with unique expertise.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
Several hours before the Full Moon on Sept 12-13, Earth and Uranus begin a new 370-day synodic cycle in late Aquarius. This is the second to last of the Uranus synodic cycles occurring in sidereal Aquarius. Near the completion through its home sign, Uranus conjoins the mouth of the fish, which peaks over into sidereal Aquarius from Pisces articulating humanity's anticipation to receive the humanitarian-focused gifts Aquarius has to offer. Earth and Uranus prominently conjoin the very southern star Beta Reticuli; nearby and north is Markab of Pegasus, which the Full Moon will align with hours later.

(cosmic recursive fractal flames image)
Markab, Alpha Pegasus, is the saddle or the physical vehicle upon which soul rides or through which soul expresses: literally the corporeal physical body. Markab brings attention to the physical condition of one's body at the genetic and cellular level. Markab is the vehicle through which soul accomplishes its greater mission--the physical cellular aspect of the Merkabah, one's body of light. Markab not only brings attention to our physical body and its health--the body being the temple / vessel of the soul--but to the physical aspects of our lives and of our relations, how we interrelate in our human physicality. This includes the physical means or forms through which we participate in life from the professional structures that make our nourishment possible, especially the functional aspects of humanitarian-focused organizations, to the physical logistics of our personal lives. Markab asks us to honor the palpable, the basic physical needs of the human body.
Conjoining Markab and the head of the fish is Beta Reticuli. Alpha and Beta Reticuli embody the purer aspects of the reticuli--the ability to see things where they truly are in the greater evolutionary context--providing holographic awareness literally in the DNA--to allow the soul to manifest and express in its undistorted perfection. Alpha is the foci of the reticuli and is the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity. Beta Reticuli embodies the science of genetics and the administration of genetic refinement.
This next year may produce unexpected but hoped for breakthroughs after a long exploratory research process regarding the human body and the genetic vessel (DNA) through which soul consciousness expresses. This cycle may continue to produce more technological advances supporting the illumination of the DNA and our ability to live and communicate as one healthy global consciousness. This new 730-day cycle brings us to question how we are using our physical bodies and our physical resources for the expression of our souls, for a healthy expression and experrience on Earth. It brings us to explore new, radically different ways of using our human vessel, and to make spontaneous, unexpected and radical changes in the very material aspects of our lives. It is about making radical change regarding our fundamental material needs required to support life.
Our Full Moon occurs on Sept 13 a bit past but still imbuing the conjoining influence of Uranus. This can produce the radical, spontaneous or unexpected, and even radical flashes of illumination or revelation. It may also be exactly this type of impulse, to do something entirely different at a very physical level, that may be a part of our realization regarding the use of personal will and actualizing this month's lunar theme. Here we are inspired to get out of head and into "the motion of body."
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, Sep 12-13 is an ideal time to work with the Uranus and Earth audio meditations in tandum. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the Lunar Cycle Timing Chart, found under "Resources" on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.
The Sun moves into sidereal Virgo on September 17.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift.
Tycho's Supernova Remnant
NASA/CXC/Rutgers/J.Warren & J.Hughes et al.
Our Manifesting Moon of Sept 18 resides in mid-sidereal Aries and conjoins Achird, Eta of Cassiopia. Influncencing is southern Kaffaljidhma, the brain of the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness; and Beta Triangulum, which lies just north of the Ram. Also in Cassiopia is Tycho's Supernova Remnant.
The brain of Cetus? Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is "human consciousness." This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in--the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.
Achird asks us to realize that we create and perpetuate the very things that we perceive as trying to detour or devour us. Achird brings attention to the fact that the monsters and the entrapments in which we find ourselves become manifest by our own righteous and arrogant attitudes of self-importance.
In the story of the Royal Family, Perseus set his sight on Triangulum as he flew over Cetus to free his beloved Andromeda. Triangulum asks us to see beyond the paradox of the apparent monster of the human condition trying to entrap us--an image upheld by the fear we buy into.
Alignments with Tycho's supernova support the expansion from egoic / victim consciousness, where we believe we are victims of other beings, ones that are responsible for our condition and ones that must come to save us from it (or devour us as food as some people believe), to realizing that we must stand on our own, responsible for self, rather than giving our power to those who wish to control. Here in the "Initiatory Gate of sidereal Aries," we learn to realize our role: to become responsible for our human condition as well as to claim our freedom from its bondage.
This manifesting moon may require a step through what appears as forces beyond our control; but to make the step is to surrender fear, to trust, to dissolve the paradox, and ultimately find our way.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter.
Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on Sept 21-22 on the Gate of Man in early sidereal Gemini. Opposite is Pluto on the Gate of God in early sidereal Sag. The Equinox occurs a few hours later as the Sun arrives to the anit-Vernal Point at 5° sidereal Virgo. Much like the last quarter Moon marks the time for change in the lunar cycle, this equinox marks a time of change in the annual solar cycle.
Our Equinox Last Quarter Moon creates an extra-potent inner need to intiate change in our lives that truly support our paths and roles in life. It may prove to create an emotional challenge to do so as well. Here we have the need to relinquish any attempts to control how another may feel due to our choices to change. There can be tremendous emotional forces to exert personal will in a controlling way--perhaps somewhat of test about what we may have learned in this lunar cycle. It is helpful to remember that making the changes that are right for self provide others the opportunity to make the changes they need to make for themselves.
Mercury starts its retrograde on Sept 24 just as it conjoins Mars. This begins a re-defining period for the logistical aspects of our lives and begins a time when we disengage from the previous 116-day Mercury synodic cycle, presented in the June 3, 2008 Lunar Planner. Mercury will begin its new 116-day synodic cycle in the following lunar cycle in the midst of its retrograde. It will return direct on Oct 15, 2008.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on Sept 25 in sidereal Cancer and on the south lunar node and conjoins Ceres. The North lunar Node nests between and conjoins Chiron and Neptune. Motivation to move from that which was once nourishing but no long is or old patterns of comfort or those easy to fall into, and to cross a bridge yet to emerge from the swirling mist of our dreams and visions.
This defines the nature of our coalescing seed of this lunar cycle that will sprout anew on the New Moon to come. Our next lunar cycle occurs in sidereal Virgo, which starts on the New Moon of September 29, 2008. More to come then.
