The Lunar Theme for the
October 28, 2008 New Moon

The Equipoise of Pure Intent
A New Birth in Consciousness

The Lunar Month of
October 28, 2008 - November 27, 2008

Nick Anthony Fiorenza

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

New Moon Phase Characteristics

The New Moon

Our New Moon of October 28, 2008 resides in early sidereal Libra, but nests "Under the Skirt of the Virgin," in the constellation of Virgo.

After what was a whirlwind lunar cycle, and the impetus to stand in our uniqueness of being, not getting distracted by the psycho-emotional turbulence of frenetic collective consciousness, this lunar cycle invites us to return to a place of centeredness and balance, and to access our original pure intent, undaunted by the dramatic affairs common to daily life.

New Moon Star Chart

The stars of early sidereal Libra, Under the Skirt of the Virgin, are of the arts and sciences regarding proper and harmonious environments, processes, and procedures applied in our personal lives that ensure the safe birth, healthy and harmonious incarnate experience, and evolutionary fulfillment for souls on Earth. This includes ensuring harmony in the design of the art and architecture that create our environment as well as their placement in time and space.

The over all image of sidereal Libra is of the Virgin giving birth into the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion, an image that articulates the reincarnational birthing of the soul into a process of soul growth gained through the balance of human experience while in the forces of duality. This mythical articulation was destroyed in recent (Chaldaean / Roman) times: The Scorpion's Chelae and the Virgin's legs were severed from our stellar mythos, and so too its profound significance. This is why our modern image of Libra is considered to be the scales of justice--implying the need to experience both sides (a balance) of human experience in order to gain self-mastery as an incarnating soul. It does not imply the guilt trip laden idea of paying for misdeeds deemed by a mediating and governing church-state that pretends to stand between an incarnate soul and God--a ploy used by the church-state puppet-masters to control and manipulate the masses. Nor does it refer to paying for past deeds done in a prior incarnation. Here, in the reincarnational clutches of the Scorpion, the incarnating soul learns self-responsibility and self-mastery, to claim the true freedom that the scales of Libra stand for, by choice, by choosing to move from the patterns and scenarios of the past and to participate in a new way, to step into a new way of being, upon a new path of experience--in essence to complete one's destiny or incarnational purpose of soul growth. To learn more of this mythical astronomical imagery, see the "Astronomical Truth of the Virgin."

Our New Moon conjoins Delta and Gamma of the Southern Cross; and the nearby active super-massive black hole galaxy Centaurus-A, the Temple of the Centaur. Also influencing our New Moon theme are: Syrma or Virgo, the Star of Atlantis, which lies "Under the Skirt of the Virgin"; the Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes, which lies just above the Virgin's feet; and the Beta star of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown.

The Southern Cross lies under the protection of the benevolent and wise Centaur, the teacher of true principles and the right way to live to attain self-mastery and evolutionary freedom. The Centaur stands beneath the legs of the Virgin and the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion.

The Southern Cross (Cruces) embodies the original cardinality (pure intent) of the soul (also the four cardinal virtues seemly lost to most of humanity)--embodied by the Kappa Crucis Cluster, the Jewel Box. This is the purity of the soul before the aberrations and attitudes incurred by the soul throughout the incarnational process. The Centaur teaches that it is essential to seek the original cardinality of the soul and to live it. To claim the cardinality of the soul, our point of pure intent, is that which provides us a balanced foundation, the personal inner equipoise required to reach beyond the diversions and challenges of life, and any entrapments that we may find ourselves in, so as to have the proper stance and confidence to reach for and claim the Northern Crown--our evolutionary freedom and personal fulfillment.

The Northern Crown lies north, above the feet and Chelae of the Scorpion, and represents the freedom attainable beyond the entrapping behavioral patterns and karmic scenarios articulated by the outstretched Scorpion's claws reaching for the soul birthing from the Virgin.

Centaurs-A is the "Temple of the Centaur," a place so unique that it seems oblivious to and undaunted by its surrounding cosmology. It nests within a very unusual galaxy (NGC 5128) not fitting into any galactic class, thus, unique as the Centaur is, it is unclassified. It is the closest active galaxy to Earth.

The Purple Rose of Virgo

Centaurs-A invites us to create a contemplative meditative harmonious sacred space or environment from which to access our inner cardinal soul wisdom, our original and unique purpose and intent before the aberrations, false beliefs, and restricting concepts we have placed upon ourselves.

Centaurs-A fits into what some astrophysicists call the Black Hole model. This can be thought of as a very deep pool of consciousness, a place we can enter if we dare, and return (or not) forever changed. There is an all or nothing nature to this excursion that requires relinquishment of lesser modes of being, of the attachments associated with our existing lives. It requires the willingness and personal integrity to go deep within our consciousness and allow a disintegration of the constructs of self we hold, of what we think ourselves to be, and to emerge with a far deeper sense of our true selves, the inner knowing of our souls. We then must then bring that pure intent back into our life expression. The successful feat can result in an inversion or flip in consciousness--with a revelation of great magnitude, one that may change our lives forever.

Centaurs-A is the essence of pure consciousness, it is of quality, beauty, harmony, and perfection. Centaurs-A along with conjoining Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes, which lies just over the feet of the Virgin, inspires unique artistic vision and imagination to create a portal of beauty and purity in art and architecture designed to facilitate this enlightening process.

The Purple Rose of Virgo

The Purple Rose of Virgo
Conjoining Syrma is the Supernova SN 2007af, a recent and stunning revelation found "under the skirt of the Virgin: in The Purple Rose of Virgo, a barred spiral galaxy (slightly smaller than our Galaxy). The supernova is the bright object seen slightly below and to the right of the galaxy's centre. Image Cerdit: ESO PR Photo 16/07

Centaurs-A also conjoins the Beta star of the Northern Crown, and Quasar 3C 351 of northern Draco. This quasar inspires access to ancient time, when soul was pristine in its intent and purpose, and to pull this awareness into the present expression with passion, enthusiasm, art, and beauty to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.

Also adding to our New Moon theme is Syrma, Star of Atlantis, which lies under the skirt of the Virgin and marks the knee of the Virgin. Syrma embodies issues relating to frozen genetic coding and the resultant crystalized emotional patterning incurred due to devastating or cataclysmic events of the past. Syrma provides inspiration for personal change and transformation, and articulates our need to unlock our frozen genetic coding and crystalized cellular makeup. Syrma alignments can bring emotional patterning, especially suppressed grief, to surface awareness so we may clear it. Syrma also inspires the application of art-sciences that can help in this process, freeing ourselves from biological conditions and behavioral patterns that keep us frozen in past time so we may step forth into our evolutionary fulfillment.

To Access the Power of Pure Intent

This New Moon and this lunar cycle provides an ideal time to find or create a peaceful place for meditation; to sit comfortably, breath and release all worries and thoughts, to become empty. Allow yourself the time, twenty minutes is ideal, to simply submerge into the jewel box of your soul and to allow this essence to emerge into your awareness. Seek nothing, just allow. This is an ideal meditative technique for any New Moon, but also a great daily practice.

When seeking to become clear about a specific issue, a more active meditation can be helpful. In this case, sum up in a sentence a question that you may have, or even write it down. Then let the thought completely go. Meditate as suggested above and allow whatever feelings or revelations to emerge by their own accord. This meditative technique is best done after the Lunar Cycle has begun, on or after the Crescent Moon.

Sometimes when we want to set our intent on something specific, to achieve something or to change something in our lives for example, another type of meditation can be helpful. In this case, follow the first meditative technique above, but toward the end of the meditation, when clear, empty and peaceful, allow yourself to "feel" what it would be like to have what you wish. The feeling is what is important, not the thought patterns or the picture of what you want. After you establish this feeling, simply let it go and continue with your day.

If we want something specific, we can focus upon the exact thing we may want, however this can be limiting. For example if you want a specific house or car, you can focus on the exact specific item, however, this can limit the type of house or car you may find, when the world around you may offer a house or car that is even nicer or more ideal that what you were envisioning. This is why focusing on the "feeling" of what it would be like to have a new house or new car can be a better meditative approach.

The Earth-Vesta Synodic Cycle

Barred Spiral Galaxy in the Fornax Galaxy Cluster

South of Triangulum and conjoining Apin is the Fornax Galaxy Cluster. The NGC 1365 Spiral Galaxy marks the center of the Fornax cluster of galaxies. Fornax, the funace, provides the initiatory fire while in the whale (Cetus) of human experience; while passing through sidereal Aries.

Between the New Moon and Crescent Moon, while the Moon conjoins Mars, a new Earth-Vesta synodic cycle begins in sidereal Aries; and Juno and Pluto conjoin on the Gate of God in sidereal Sag.

Synodic cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in thier orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

Learn the basics about Synodic Cycles & Synodic Astrology

The new Earth-Vesta synod occurs in sidereal Aries on October 30, 2008 and conjoins Apin of Triangulum, which lies just north of the Ram. Vesta is the asteroid of focus, dedication & commitment; of physical, emotional, and mental clarity; and of self-respect. Vesta brings a capacity to be pure within self at all levels for the expression of one's highest potential and true essence. Vesta is of strength, purity, and perfection--of total dedication to purpose. Vesta brings attention to that which is of true importance and will ignite and burn away that which is not. More about Vesta.

Triangulum, also called the Holy Trinity, a golden triangular channel embodies the essence of seeing unity beyond duality of opposing forces. Perseus, while flying upon Pegasus over Cetus, the technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, holds his sight upon guiding Triangulum so as to not be pulled into the dramatics of the fear-based drama of human world. Triangulum is the gate of ascension through the initiation of the fire of sidereal Aries. Beta Triangulum's message is "Let Thine Eye be Single," and asks us to see that the primary issue to overcome is our judgment of this side verses that side, or right and wrong, of white and black. As long as we function from a place of judgment, we are easily lured into the fear-based dramatics of the human world. Only by surrendering our judgment can we see solution beyond the apparently impossible and act beyond the entrapment of the fear instilling, opposing, and tormenting forces comprising collective human consciousness (Cetus).

Also conjoining is Hamal, Alpha Aries, the butting head of the Ram; and Schedar, Alpha Cassiopeia, the head of the Queen.

Hamal reveals that the struggle in the physical world is due to forceful attempts to direct our lives or those of others. Attempts to force our way through the experiences of the physical world based in our separatist, judgmental, and righteous me-against-them attitudes is our own folly that leads deeper into the fire in which we may already find ourselves.

Schedar, Alpha Cassiopeia, the head of the Queen, tightly conjoining Hamal, is of "pride and arrogance." Schedar is the head-trip of the emotionally immature Queen lost in the glitter of her place of power upon the human stage. Immature challenge and boast expresses here with ramifications only accentuating the drama of the tightening jaws of fear-based collective consciousness (Cetus) and the butting response provided by the head of the Ram.

These stars have a forceful, even violent nature, while Apin reveals the solution. Our new 468-day Earth-Vesta synodic cycle provides a cycle of growth to get clear about these issues, to hold focus above and beyond the opposing forces of the dualistic world. This cycle of growth will fully engage as Vesta completes is retrograde in sidereal Aries, in mid-December of 2008 and will continue through February of 2010.

Juno & Pluto

Although Juno and Pluto conjoin on October 30, 2008, the actual Sun-Juno-Pluto alignment, which marked the start of the very significant 4.5-year Juno-Pluto synodic cycle on the Gate of God, began in early August of 2008. The theme of this cycle is extremely significant for relationships and was presented in the Aug 1, 2008 Lunar Planner. The Juno-Pluto conjunction occurring now brings this theme into palpable form and marks a significant sorting and openning for relationships of all sorts.

Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, Oct 29-30 is an ideal time to work with the Pluto audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.

Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Moon, Venus and the Dwarf Planet Quaoar conjoin just before the Crescent Moon bringing attention to releasing limits placed upon the heart. (Venus and Quaoar are about to conjoin, which will occur just after the Crescent Moon.)

The Crescent Moon occurs on Nov 1-2 on the cusp of sidereal Scorpio-Sag. The Moon is also at its apogee (at its furthest distance from Earth during its orbit). Some astrologers call the Moon's apogee "Black Lilith" (not to be confused with the asteroid Lilith). Thus the Crescent Moon will appear to be extra small as seen just after sunset. The astrological influence of the Moon's apogee is said to emphasize our instinctual and emotional sensitivities, as well as bringing greater access to our soul-level desires and our heart-felt passions.

The Crescent Moon lies just past the potent sting of the Scorpion and slightly before Galactic Center. The Moon conjoins several cuspal entries: Shaula and Sargas of Scorpio; Alpha Mensa, which marks the start of Table Mountain; Alpha and Delta Ara, of the Altar of the Centaur; and Cebalrai, the Beta star and right shoulder of Ophiuchus.

This is where, after having claimed the wisdom from the transmutational experience provided by the Scorpion's sting, the often-time harsh life lessons, we now find soul-level support (Mensa) to graduate into a higher octave of participation.

As we now enter the second phase of the lunar cycle and start to amalgamate our creative process with the original lunar theme, we find impetus to pull forth and live from a deeper level of inner soul intent and our true heart's sensuality and passion, and with this comes a new level of responsibility to use our new found awareness.

Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, the 24 hours leading into to the Crescent Moon (Nov 1-2) is an ideal time to work with the Venus and Neptune audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.

Neptune Venus & Quaoar

Just after the Crescent Moon, Neptune completes its retrograde, returning direct on Nov 1-2, while Venus and Quaoar conjoin in sidereal Scorpio.

Neptune

Neptune's direct station sets free our dreams and visions. It marks the full commencement of the recent Earth-Neptune 367-day synodic cycle that began on the Full Moon - Partial Lunar Eclipse of August 15, 2008. The theme of this event and the Neptune cycle conjoining fortuitous and loquacious Nashira of Capricorn, especially regarding good tidings associated with business dealings and legalities, was presented in the Aug 1, 2008 Lunar Planner.

Venus Quaoar

Venus and Quaoar's conjunction (which was triggered by the pre-Crescent Moon) occurs on Nov 2 in Ophiuchus (sidereal Scorpio). Orcus, one of our newly discovered Dwarf Planets, is currently north of the ecliptic crossing the star Sabik of Ophiuchus. Orcus is currently less than 1/2 degree from Sabik and will pass just 00° 08' north of Sabik in mid-November 2008.

Quaoar motivates our return to the "sacredness of life," to a way of life that is in harmony with the fundamental forces governing nature, to see the inter-connectivity in all things, to have respect for natural order and to live in harmony with this order, in wholeness and in the flow with the natural world.

Venus and Quaoar would seem to make a good paring in general, with Venus being of the heart, art, passion, natural beauty, and harmony.

Sabik, on the right thigh of Ophiuchus, closely conjoining Ras Algethi, the Head of Hercules, reveals a powerfully transformative location in sidereal Scorpio, one offering a significant transmutational experience due to the alchemical intermixing of elements, often of a sexual, genetic, biological or botanical nature. Sabik is also of medicine, healing, medical research and the art-science of alchemy.

Sabik of Ophiuchus also conjoins the Nova of 1977 (V2107) also in Ophiuchus, and the 3U1700-37 black hole, which lies just under the tail of the Scorpion along the galactic equator. Alignments here may stimulate new creative ideas or personal involvements that lead to our greater bio-logical well-being and illumination--especially regarding transmutation of our experience and our human condition from a lower-order to a more refined state of being. This level of transmutation in our lives requires full unconditional acceptance and integration of our past experience, so the bio-energetic patterning we hold within can be inverted to re-express its compliment--thus allowing a new expression that subsequently draws new fulfilling experience. This process in esoteric science and physics is called time-reversal or phase-conjugation. In advanced healing and meditative techniques, this is a means of producing the opposite but properly phased cellular pattern or signature within self that cancels (fulfills) the existing pattern we embody. In typical black hole fashion this is an all-or-nothing deal requiring our unconditional willingness embrace the healing process. The choice is ours, to live our heart's truth or live lies. One will create health and set us free, the other will perpetuate the symptoms of our inner discord.

The Venus Quaoar conjunction occurring the Crescent apogee Moon further motivates living in attunement to a natural order defined by the heart--especially regarding matters of heath.

Pallas, Venus & the Saturn Uranus Opposition

The Saturn Uranus Opposition

Saturn opposes retrograde Uranus on Nov 4 while retrograde Pallas opposing Venus create a Grand Square with the opposition. Because Venus is the faster mover, a potent Pallas-Uranus-Saturn T-square remains active for days surrounding the Uranus-Saturn opposition.

The new, radical, unconventional and higher-intelligence wanting to re-define what is established (Uranus) stands in opposition to the long-established, conventional, and stoic (Saturn). Uranus is empowered in this scenario residing in its domicile, humanitarian sidereal Aquarius, while Saturn resides in later sidereal Leo, at the hind of the Lion, in somewhat of a toxic area filled with hot air and foul breezes that could fuel a fire. Not to be fooled! Saturn has however just made a very significant encounter with Orcus, one of our new Dwarf Planets, together they started an entirely new 32-year cycle--producing a "new breed of leaders."

The real issue here is revealed by Pallas, the energetic of the T-square--that must express one way or another. Immature Pallas will fall into spiteful side-taking and lashing out, or will spitefully withdraw altogether--and while the Grand Square is active, Pallas opposing Venus challenges the feminine principle and those living from heart to stand strong. Mature Pallas expresses artistic creative intelligence beyond the righteous opposing forces and judgmental side-taking of the dualist world and will only provide solution by honoring both sides of the coin. More about the asteroid Pallas.

Pallas

Let us take a closer look at Pallas and what she is up to: Retrograde Pallas, currently in sidereal Taurus, is ending her previous synodic cycle with Earth that began in September of 2007 on the Last Quarter Moon of the lunar cycle at time. Pallas will begin a new synodic cycle in early December of 2008. The previous Pallas-Earth synod occurred in mid-sidereal Aquarius nesting between the North Lunar Node and Uranus. The theme of the Pallas cycle was defined by Urn of the humanitarian waterman--the arts, sciences and altruistic societal models that provide nourishment for humanity. So the Pallas synodic theme, which is of significance here, is about finding artistically creative and humanitarian solutions beyond the tendency for judgmental side-taking.

Barred Spiral Galaxy in the Fornax Galaxy Cluster

The Flaming Star Nebula C405 in Auriga

Pallas, at the time of this T-square with Uranus and Saturn, currently resides in later sidereal Taurus, the sign of home and business, and resides in the domain of enterprising and entrepreneurial Rigel of Orion, and Bellatrix, the female warrior, the strategic planner and administrator. Pallas is currently quite south of the ecliptic as it makes a rather large retrograde loop due to its extreme orbital inclination (~34.8°) and its close orbital proximity to Earth. Pallas lies just south of Nihal and Arneb of Lepus, the hare, which lies under the feet of Orion and is a totem of creativity and pro-creation. Although quite south, Pallas specifically conjoins Haedus, Al Anz, and the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula, both of Auriga the charioteer, which lie just north of the horns of the Bull. These stars of Auriga are of camaraderie and mutual support amongst colleagues.

An interesting observation about the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula is that it came from the same location as Mu of Columba the Dove, emblem of divine dispensation--both from the Great Orion Nebula. It appears as if the two stars had a very close encounter only to be expelled from the Orion Nebula, and now reside in different parts of the heavens. This suggests a renegade or outcast quality, one who lives outside the beliefs and conventions of its group, a free and highly creative thinker moving on its own, even with its own agenda, which is quite fitting to this longitude of Taurus, and typical to impious but highly creative and enterprising Orion.

All of this suggests a highly creative force expressing though Pallas during this T-square, one that motivates unique and unconventional solution that serve the very physical and generative Taurian world of the physical body, home, sustenance, commerce, business, and accomplishment through tenacity.

Uranus

Uranus, currently retrograde in sidereal Aquarius is about to station and return direct on Nov 27, 2008, at which time the new Earth-Uranus synodic cycle which started in the midst of its retrograde on the Full Moon of Sept 13, 2008 will fully engage. The theme of this new 370-day Earth-Uranus synodic cycle was defined by the Mouth of the Fish; Markab of the great Pegasus Square and Beta Reticuli. In short this cycle is about our very physical needs being met.

"Markab of Pegasus not only brings attention to our physical body and its health--the body being the temple / vessel of the soul--but to the physical aspects of our lives and of our relations, how we interrelate in our human physicality. This includes the physical means or forms through which we participate in life from the professional structures that make our nourishment possible, especially the functional aspects of humanitarian-focused organizations, to the physical logistics of our personal lives. Markab asks us to honor the palpable, the physical needs of the human body."

The Earth-Uranus synodic cycle theme can be found in full in the Aug 30, 2008 Lunar Planner.

Saturn

Saturn, presently moving through sidereal Leo, began its current synodic cycle in earlier Leo on February 24, 2008. The Earth-Saturn synod occurred along with the Earth-Orcus synod, linking these two cycles much like conjunction of planets. In addition, these two synodic cycles nest in the very significant 32-year Saturn-Orcus synodic cycle that began in August of 2007.

• The New Earth-Orcus Synodic Cycle: A New Breed of Leaders

"Orcus, moving much slower than Saturn, resides south of the ecliptic in the constellation Hydra. Because of its slow movement, the Earth-Orcus star alignments, which define this Earth-Orcus synodic cycle, are the same as those defining the original Orcus-Saturn synodic cycle that began in Aug of 2007.

The passage of Orcus through Hydra, the underwater snake, suggests that powerful transcendent currents are stirring and awakening the human family from its slumber, and as well those stepping into leadership positions (under the Head of the Lion).

The association of Orcus with living our "soul oaths" and its power being equivalent to that of Pluto, although perhaps working in a more subtle way, suggest the emergence of those destined as the trail-breakers and leaders to emerge on the global stage, however, those who are aligned, or shall we say more aware at a soul-level of their roles on Earth, and who are in tune with the accelerating evolutionary currents awakening humanity.

Earth and Orcus also reside on the Lunar South Node while the Sun and Vesta conjoin on the Lunar North Node in Aquarius indicating a humanitarian soul-level purpose of those breaking trail and of this new breed of leaders. Here is impetus to clearly focus, dedicate and commit their leadership capacities in the interest of humanitarian freedom. This alignment initiates the same motivation within ourselves--to break trail new in our lives for the benefit of our freedom of being and the freedom of others."

• The New Earth-Saturn Synodic Cycle

"Conjoining Thuban from the southern heavens is Vela X-1, a potent neutron star that creates a relentless drive to apply personal will responsibly to affect long-term evolutionary change, and to become responsible for the ramifications of using personal will. In typical black hole fashion, this is an all or nothing deal, as that which we set in course now, dramatically affects our evolutionary outcome....

This new 378-day Earth-Saturn theme starting now brings to conscious awareness our responsibility to navigate our evolutionary course with the understanding of the long-term ramifications involved. In addition, we find the need to shift what was perhaps a long-standing momentum established in the patriarchal-based bureaucratic structures governing our world, as well as our need to take a new approach regarding those long-standing but now out-dated established life scenarios or modalities of being within our own lives...."

The themes of the Saturn and Orcus synodic cycles can be found in the February 6, 2008 Lunar Planner, an eclipse lunar cycle.

The 32-year Saturn Orcus Synodic Cycle can be found in ""The New 32-year Saturn-Orcus Synodic Cycle & The New Earth-Venus Cycle."

The Pallas-Uranus-Saturn T-square Triggers

There are several strong triggers activating this Pallas-Uranus-Saturn T-square throughout this lunar cycle: The Moon creates a Grand square with the other three on November 1, just after its conjunction with Venus and before the apogee Crescent Moon. Venus takes over, creating the Grand Square on November 3-4. The Moon conjoins Uranus on November 8, just after the exact Uranus-Saturn opposition but still while the Pallas T-square is active. Then, as the T-square starts to dissipate, the Moon conjoins Pallas on November 14-15; and then Saturn on November 21 just as Jupiter and Saturn create their trine--the mobilizing force for the entire dynamic.

First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Initiate Action & The Moon Wobble

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.

This First Quarter Moon occurs on November 5 on the North Lunar Node conjoining Chiron in sidereal Capricorn, while the Sun squares the Lunar Nodes. The Sun square Nodes is an aspect commonly called a "Moon Wobble"--a term coined by astrological researcher Carl Payne Tobey. He chose this term not to refer to a physical wobble of the moon, but to people's questionable judgment during the aspect, which he noted to be notoriously poor, especially of those in leadership positions. Perhaps this is due to an emotional dominance occurring during the solar-lunar-node square. Either way, indecision is a part of our challenge to action.

The Moon and Chiron conjoin the Cygnus X-1 Black Hole; Al Nair, Alpha Gruis; and Rotanev, Beta Delphinus.

This ecliptical location marks a significant shift in sidereal Capricorn. Cygnus X-1, an eclipsing X-ray binary-star system, with an X-ray eclipse period of 5.6 days, lies in the northern heavens on the galactic equator, almost equidistant between Albireo and Sadr, in the neck of the Swan. Cyg X-1's placement on the galactic equator provides opportunity to express from an the intelligent maturity and truth of a soul-aware awakened being cognizant that we are not victims at the mercy of forces outside of self but that we co-create the dramatics in our lives as well as the outcome of our lives and must take responsibility for doing so.

This location marks a significant shift in sidereal Capricorn. Cygnus X-1, an eclipsing X-ray binary-star system, with an X-ray eclipse period of 5.6 days, lies in the northern heavens on the galactic equator, almost equidistant between Albireo and Sadr, in the neck of the Swan. Cyg X-1's placement on the galactic equator provides opportunity to participate and express from the intelligent maturity and truth of a self-realized conscious being rather than following whatever propaganda happens to be in vogue.

Gruis as the stork, is carrier of bodies of knowledge, information, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. The southern Toucan’s loquacious and gregarious qualities also underlie Gruis contributing to the expressive and articulate nature of this area of the zodiak. Al Nair of Gruis is also the head of Aaron the high-priest-scientist, brother of Miriam and Mosses (an imaging suggested by Julius Schiller), which I find succinct in articulating the energetic here. Aaron stands up against the Egyptian royal court with wisdom, eloquence and persuasive articulate speech. Al Nair, as the head of Aaron, embodies the principles of wisdom and intelligence in all areas of politics, business, negotiation and legalities.

Our Chiron North Lunar Node First Quarter Moon stimulus to action invites us to step away from the comfort of our established patterns based upon propaganda sold in the media and that of mass consensus, and to think for self--to cross a new bridge based upon our own personal intelligence and wisdom.

Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

This Gibbous Moon occurs on November 9 in early sidereal Pisces and conjoins Diphda (Beta) of Cetus the sea monster. Diphda is the thrashing tail of the technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, the Kraken in the story of Andromeda and the Royal family. Diphda creates a strong emotional turbulence, bringing the potential to get knocked down and thrashed around due to the inability to lift one's self (fly) above (Algenib-wing of Pegasus) the dramatics of the intense psycho-emotional forces of the human world. The stars of Cetus comprise a principal part of the theme of sidereal Pisces.

Our magnetic and social Gibbous Moon is one of high emotional absorption and psychic sensitivity, of shape-shifting seduction and speculation, but also of vivid dreams and imagination--perhaps a menagerie that gets us tossed to a fro a bit.

The Gibbous Moon also aspects a Grand Trine created by the asteroids Juno, Vesta, and Ceres. Relationships, self-worth, clarity of purpose, focus, commitment, and questions about what is really nurturing are all issues embodied in this emotional menagerie--all providing an opportunity for an emotional maturing.

Venus & Pluto

Aphrodite

Aphrodite

Venus and Pluto conjoin on November 11-12 on the Gate of God in sidereal Sagittarius. The actual Venus-Pluto synodic cycle (defined by the Sun Venus Pluto alignment) occurred in the last lunar cycle when Venus made its tri-fold progression of synods with Pluto, Juno and Jupiter, which began a several month cycle in the refinement of our passion and truth of the heart used as an applied force to steer and direct our future. It is a time supporting a significant maturing, transformation and expansion for relationships. The theme of these Venus synods can be found in the Sept 29, 2008 Lunar Planner.

The Venus-Pluto conjunction occurring now brings this Venus-Pluto synodic theme into our palpable experiential realm--a wide opening of the heart, one quite opportunistic for those free of fear to leave the past behind and walk through a new door. Venus will conjoin Juno, the asteroid of covenant relationships, a bit later in the lunar cycle; and then Jupiter in the following lunar cycle.

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, November 11-12, is an ideal time to use the Venus and Pluto audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.

Full Moon Phase Characteristics

Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization of the Theme
Sedna's Full Moon Anniversary

Full Moon

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

This Full Moon conjoins distant Sedna, a recently discovered dwarf planet, and occurs on November 12-13 in late sidereal Aries. The Moon and Sedna conjoin Botein of Aries and Rana of Eridanus.

Botein, although meaning the belly (of the Ram) actually marks the hind foot. At the hind of the Ram, Botein can also indicate those either lost and stranded, or simply left behind (the lost or following sheep), and thus can create a sense of frustration; but this is also a place for regeneration and preparation.

Rana of Eridanus is another stopping point along the river of life and articulates the theme of those lost or tired through their initiations stopping either in need of aid or regeneration in preparation for what is yet to come.

Overall, this location in the ecliptic asks us to trust instinct rather than reason. It is of a regenerative nature--primal, sexual, erotic, creative and inventive. It can also be volatile, quickly eruptive or explosive like a volcano, penetrating, sharp tongued, and competitive, even war like.

This Full Moon marks the fifth year anniversary of the Sedna's discovery, which occurred on November 14, 2003. Sedna, named for the Inuit goddess who lives at the bottom of the frigid Arctic ocean, is a Dwarf Planet, cold and removed, nearly double the distance from the Sun as is Pluto. Sedona approaches the Sun only briefly during its very long 10,500-year solar orbit.

Although astrologers are just beginning to gain appreciation for the astrological nature of Sedna, from my observations so far I suspect the following: Sedna, of the feminine principle, having drown in dramatic scenario of deceit and betrayal over eons of time, and having been deeply hurt, has unfortunately self-exiled into a deep sea of loneliness and simply refuses to commit to any participation in fear of being deeply hurt again. However, Sedan's discovery indicates she it ready to make her re-emergence. Humanity's must however recognize the truth about the suppression and persecution of the feminine principle, and although it is quite obvious about our need for the female's re-emergence and balanced reintegration with overly dominant masculine world, there is dire hesitancy for such participation due to man's continued and often awry and deceptive use of creative power.

The unfortunate truth is that any continued withdraw of the feminine, and subsequent refusal to participate, makes her re-emergence more difficult, creating further entrapment (Menkar) of the feminine principle; as well as perpetuating the blatent masculine-feminine imbalance. Now, as we cross the threshold in the Earth's ~25,000 year precessional "evolutionary cycle of the soul," and Earth's polar inclination leans back toward the plane of galactic light, where our re-unification in consciousness occurs, our sensitivity to, respect, and encouragement for the feminine is of utmost importance. See the Holy Cross web section to learn more about the "evolutionary cycle of the soul," Earth's polar re-orientation toward the galactic plane of light, and our re-unification in consciousness.

This Sedna Full Moon Anniversary conjoining Botein of the Ram and Rana of the River of Life provides another wonderful opportunity for astrologers to gain a deeper understanding of Sedna's astrological force--especially for women to note their behavioral tendency and feelings surrounding this Full Moon.

The Moon & Pallas

The Moon conjoins Pallas on November 14 activating the Pallas-Uranus-Saturn T-square (mentioned above), between the Full Moon's "realization of the theme" and the "manifestation and demonstration" point in the lunar cycle. The Pallas theme--either spiteful withdrawal, or the expression of artistic creative intelligence beyond the duality of side-taking--is very fitting with our Sedna feminine Full Moon theme.

Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift.

Our Manifesting Moon of November 16 lies exactly at the mid-point of sidereal Gemini (the twins) and primarily conjoins Alhena, the foot of Pollux and Mebsuta of Castor. Also conjoining are several entries from Monoceros the Unicorn: Beta Monoceros and the Rosetta Nebula; and the Cone Nebula and Star Cluster. North is the Quasar OH471 of Auriga.

Alhena is the brand, mark or seal and along with Alzirr marks the foot of Pollux the ambassador. Alhena represents "commencement" and inspires us to act on our greater truth and purpose. Alhena is a marking stone for the unfoldment of what lies ahead and indicates a milestone or a turning point has been reached. It reveals our need to get off of the fence of indecision, to drop any hesitation, as the "time is at hand" to go forth anew. As the brand, Alhena also indicates that the time, events, or relations are marked or destined. Alhena can also indicate the need to sign a document or legalize a project, involvement, or commitment. It is the consecration of our commitment through demonstrable action that anchors the etheric vision of our soul truth into the physical plane to become realized truth. This concretization prepares for a greater event yet to come. Alhena can also manifest simply as a unique sign, indicating an opportunity is at hand. As the dividing star of the sidereal sign of Gemini, Alhena indicates a separation, a leaving, a departure, even an exodus. Behaviorally, Alhena marks the leaving an older or less fulfilling way of participation or way of life, and the time of our transfiguration.

Conjoining Alhena is Quasar OH471 of Auriga. It, along with Beta Monoceros, inspires action upon opportunity marked in a unique or magical way that brings fragmented pieces into unified effort destined for fulfillment.

Venus & Juno

The Swan Nebula

M17 The Swan Nebula
This image is deep enough that the "swan-ness" of the nebula is lost in the convoluted turmoil of gas and dust. However if you squint at the screen, you will find that the brightest parts of the nebula make a convincing bird floating on the water with the head (dark area) on the left and the wings extending up and to the right. The body of the Swan is about twelve lightyears long, but that is only the brightest portion. There are fainter, irregular clumps of gas that stretch for forty lightyears or more.

Just hours after the Disseminating Moon, Venus conjoins Juno, the asteroid of covenant relations, mutual respect and compatablity. Thus the manifestation and demonstration phase of the fruit-bearing phase of this lunar cycle is very much related to relationships of the heart, art, passion, harmony and beauty. This conjunction brings the Venus-Juno synodic cycle of the tri-fold Venus synods with Pluto, Juno, and Jupiter, presented in the previous lunar planner, into palpable expression.

Venus and Juno, nesting in sidereal Sag, conjoin the hand and bow of the Zen Archer, along it Alpha Telescopium. Here we find undaunted strength, focus and purpose with a sure and stable stance that makes it possible to see and achieve our long term goals--a beautiful place in time and space for Juno and Venus to meet--and for those relationships, new or old, having made their passage--a birth.

Sun Scorpio

The Sun moves into sidereal Scorpio on November 16-17, just after the Disseminating Moon.

Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter.

Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on November 19 in early sidereal Leo just at the mane of the Lion and conjoining Suhail Al Muhlif on the sail of the Argo (Gamma Velorum); the Pup-A Super-Nova Remnant of the Argo; and Adhafera, the crest of the mane of the Lion, and Al Jabhah, the forehead of the Lion.

The Lion faces west, with its head looking over into sidereal Cancer with Algieba (the mane), Adhafera (on the crest of the mane), Rasalas (the crown), and Algenubi (the eye) all composing the Lion's head. This is a point of eloquence, beauty, self-confidence, and pride. These stars embody the wisdom of the Lion.

The Suhail stars of Velorum, on the sail of the Argo, are always indicative of refined subtle energies or currents at work that function at the level of the soul's greater evolutionary journey--those transcendent to the dramatics of the terrestrial incarnational world.

"Suhail, among the Persians, is synonymous for wisdom; as in the Al Anwar i Suhaili, the Lights of Canopus. Also a personal title taken in Arabia as a symbol for what is brilliant, glorious and beautiful." (R.H. Allen)

Suhail al Muhlif is Suhail of the Oath. Conjoining is the Pup-A Supernova Remnant of Puppis on the stern of the Argo, which enters the ecliptic just before Regulus. Both entries add a transcendent galactic (soul-level) context to the conjoining theme of Alphard of the Hydra, the solitary one, and the stars creating the head of the Lion.

Suhail al Muhlif and Pup-A are indicative of sacred oaths made and set in motion long ago, of soul level missions set out upon that transcend one's incarnational sojourn--missions to open doorways and portals which allow us to reach for and achieve soul's greater purpose. The soul oaths taken are to maintain our personal integrity to our souls' directives, to see to our evolutionary fulfillment in regard to our purposes in the world--to be of the Kahi Nub of Canopus, meaning the Golden Earth--to become what is beautiful and glorious. Pup-A also provides the inspiration and motivation to demonstrably live our soul oaths, to stand forth humble yet proud to achieve our purposes in life.

The Moon conjoins Orcus, which lies south of the ecliptic but conjoins Regulus, the heart of the Lion, just after Last Quarter Moon, as we begin to "initiate change" in the Lunar cycle. Orcus, recently discovered in this very part of the heavens seems to be in cahoots with Pluto. Orcus has a nearly identical orbit to that of Pluto, although its orbital plane is tilted in the opposite direction. Although Pluto like, Orcus seems to express a quiet profundity, almost unnoticed as it moves through our sub-conscious, serving to help us get in touch with our deeper soul essence and greater purpose on Earth--the secret oaths we made long ago now obscured by the sands of time. More on Orcus.

Jupiter Trine Saturn

Jupiter, empowered in sidereal Sagittarius, trines Saturn (sextile Uranus) on November 21, 2008 just as the Moon synchronistically conjoins Saturn and opposes Uranus. This is a mobilizing aspect setting free, in a sense, what may have seemed as somewhat of a stalemate created by the potent Pallas-Saturn-Uranus T-square.

Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, Nov 20-21 is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonic web page.

Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

Focus to the Future
& the Goddess Haumea

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon conjoins the newly discovered Dwarf Planet Haumea on November 23 in sidereal Virgo. To learn more about Haumea see the recent article " Haumea: Hawaiian Goddess of Childbirth and Fertility." Haumea, north of the ecliptic, is moving from Coma Berenices, the Halo of the Virgin, toward the left foot of Bootes, the consort and protector of the Virgin. Haumea supports our new birth in consciousness. This is an apropos alignment bringing our lunar cycle to completion.

The extremely luminous afterglow of GRB 080319B was imaged by Swift's X-ray Telescope and Optical/Ultraviolet Telescope (on Mar 19, 2008). This was by far the brightest gamma-ray burst afterglow ever seen. Credit: NASA/Swift/Stefan Immler, et al

Artist's Impression of GRB 080319B in Bootes

"The jets of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) were aimed almost directly at the Earth at almost the speed of light. GRB 080319B was so intense that, despite happening halfway across the Universe, it could have been seen briefly with the unaided eye." (ESO 08/08).

The Moon and Huamea conjoin Beta Volanits, the very southern flying fish; Kraz of Corvus the Raven messenger bird; Seginus of Bootes and the recent (Mar 19, 2008) and brightest explosion ever seen just south of Seginus, which brought and energetic illumination regarding the Seginus theme as well as bringing attention to the significant arrival of the goddess Haumea.

Seginus, the left shoulder of Bootes is of strength and responsibility, and conjoining Muphrid, the left foot of Bootes, is facilitator for a new birth from the Virgin. Seginus and Muphrid inspire responsible action to provide personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments are created so an unadulterated spiritual (conceptual) to physical transformation can occur.

Kraz, is the claw of "silvery Corvus" (for those who see), Corvus the Raven is of intelligence and ingenuity, and provides prophetic messages through the natural world. To heed the Raven's messages often averts potential danger or unnecessary mishaps; but such messages can also be omens, often indicating significant meetings or events about to occur.

Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with navigational mapping and transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression--the capacity to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into new life expression or realm of consciousness.

Haumea and these stars reveal the nature of seed coalescing from this lunar cycle that will birth into the next lunar theme starting on the New Moon of November 27, 2008 in sidereal Scorpio. More to come then.
