Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
Our New Moon of March 26, 2009 occurs in sidereal Pisces and conjoins retrograde Venus. This lunar cycle also embodies the start of a new Earth-Venus cycle, a new Earth-Haumea cycle, and a new Venus-Haumea cycle. The Earth-Venus-Haumea theme is thus of special significance. Haumea is one of our newly discovered Dwarf Planets. This lunar cycle supports an emotional and physical clearing so we may return to or re-engage upon our true heart's path. It is about the power of an opened heart. It brings clarity about the radical changes required in our lives or that we are in the midst of making (if we do our required clearing), and a sense of optimism to continue forth from what may have seemed to have been a diversionary leg along our life journeys.
Our New Moon in sidereal Pisces conjoins Alpha Lacerta in the far northern heavens and Alpha Reticuli in the far southern heavens. Venus, less than two degrees from the New Moon, lies just north of the moon and conjoins Algenib of Great Square of Pegasus. These three stars (along with Venus) reveal the theme of this lunar cycle.
The stars of this few degree band of side sidereal Pisces invite us to get emotionally clear; to refine the emotional-physical aspects of self to be able to rise above the swirling emotional fear-based turbulence commonly found in the waters of collective human consciousness. This lunar cycle is an ideal time for any clearing work; i.e. juice cleanses, physical-emotional clearing, etc. Physical-emotional clarity underlies our ability to embrace and express a new birth of the heart, which is an opportunity presenting itself in this lunar cycle.
Lacerta, the Lizard, which lies north of the Pegasus Great Square and along the Galactic Equator, is gate-keeper to the most northern point of the Galactic Equator, which I dub as the "Primordial Origin" of Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle (at 5° sidereal Pisces). Lacerta embodies the primordial origins of the Earthian race. Our New Moon, at about 11° sidereal Pisces, conjoins the alpha star of this constellation. Alpha and Beta Lacerta mark the head of the Lizard and articulate our capacity to live in mastery over any manipulating or diverting psychic forces, those which are inherent in world, but which only have power over us due to our own psychic-emotional toxicity. The nature of the psychic-emotional resonance that we embody and naturally radiate is that which draws to us, in perfect reflection, the nature of our psychic-emotional experience. This is not a mind-over-matter issue, but is one of very basic primordial forces native to the physical world--specifically regarding the emotional web-work or patterns we hold in our cellular makeup. This emotional overlay upon our cellular structure augments and distorts our neurology, both that of our personal health and in the nature of our expression and experience in the world.
Reticuli, the rhomboid or diamond, a very southern constellation, embodies the essence of our DNA, that of carbon based-life forms, which we are. Reticuli is sometimes referred to as "the net"--which I tend to think of as our neural-net. Alpha Reticuli articulates the purer aspects of our DNA in its primal, pure, unadulterated form, the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity--like carbon can become a diamond--our potential. This refinement makes it possible to see things as they truly are, providing holographic awareness literally in our DNA, which in turn makes it possible to live in a refined state of being above the psychic-emotional entrapments articulated by Cetus submerged in the Piscian waters of life.
Reticulum in the Southern Heavens
Nick Anthony Fiorenza
The four primary stars that form this constellation, (Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Epsilon) should not be mistaken with the Zetas of Reticuli, which are actually of an entirely different realm, outsiders. The Zetas are two remote star systems with respect to the main body of the Reticuli constellation. The Zeta stars are plural (the Zetas) because there are two Zeta stars, Zeta 1 and Zeta 2, separated by ~5 minutes of arc, and ~2 light-years from each other in distance.
The Great Square of Pegasus reveals the mysteries (knowledge / teachings) about refining self, the physical vehicle or vessel through which soul expresses--to become capable of expressing our true essence above and beyond the fear-instilling emotional dramatics common to the world of human affairs.
Algenib, gamma Pegasus, tip of the horse's wing is one of the four stars of the Great Square of Pegasus, and a fortuitous star. Algenib and adjoining Quasar 3C9 also of Pegasus articulates our need / capacity to lift ourselves above Cetus, the techno bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, that is, above the psychic-emotional fear-based realm of life. This does not mean in denial of it, but in the personal clarity so as to not be entangled or caught in it. Algenib asks us to refine our capacities and our physical bodies (along with the themes of Markab and Scheat) so as to become light enough to work with refined energies, to lift ourselves above the dramatics common to human experience.
Algenib brings attention to the subtleties of working with our personal energies and how fine tuning our psycho-emotional capacities, especially in the dream state and working with the dream body or Ka double, is essential to become able to fly beyond human limitation. Algenib asks us to look at our density and to lighten up physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Algenib can indicate issues with air and issues pertaining to breath or the purity of what is brought into the lungs. Living in smog and smoke will keep a fog upon the aura maintaining self-delusion, the inability to see clearly. Oxygen deprivation to the cells will keep the nutrients within the cells of the body from igniting into the refined forces of light necessary to bring illumination into the structure of consciousness, the DNA. Algenib is of the breath, of oxygenating the waters of life, of the life giving air necessary for us to breathe in the thrashing emotional waters around us.
Algenib can indicate the need to physically lift ourselves above our human experience to see the way clearly, to remove ourselves from the reaches of any entrapping human dramatics. Algenib may simply indicate the need to lift self up and out of a situation to gain a clearer view--what ever it takes to get above it all--to fly.
Thus, this lunar cycle invites us to become clear vessels (as the DNA is the urn of the soul, that through which our soul expresses) to become crystal clear, to refine ourselves, so we are not lost in our own psychic-emotional entrappings. With Venus in the mix, this is so we can live true to heart, rather than from emotional congestion that can obscure that truth, to lift ourselves above the psychic-emotional tormenting forces of the human world. This lunar cycle invites us to take that leap and fly upon our heart-light.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, March 25 (New Moon) through March 27 is an ideal time to work with the Venus and Earth audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
Synodic cycles begin when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun, which is called a planetary synod. Synod means place of meeting. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.
Venus is the Roman name for the Greek Aphrodite, goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Venus has also been called the "jewel of the sky"; "Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus as the evening star"; from a modern day astronomer's view, "Earth's sister planet"; and from an astrologer's view, the "compliment to Mars."
Other cultural names for Venus include: the Babylonian Ishtar; the Syro-Palestinian goddess Ashtart; the Aztec: Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli (meaning "Lord of the House of Dawn."), an apparition of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent; the Maya: Kukulcan (Venus was the Mayan patron of warfare, with several battles coinciding with significant Venus alignments); and the Norse Sif, noted for her "conjugal fidelity."

A new 584-day Earth-Venus synodic cycle begins on March 27, 2009, just after the New Moon and in the midst of the Venus retrograde. This is when the Sun, Venus and Earth align. The theme of this cycle is defined looking from the Sun toward Venus and Earth. Thus, it lies in sidereal Virgo, opposite our Piscean New Moon. Several primary stars reveal the theme of this area of the zodiak. They are: Zaniah of Virgo; Turais of Carnia, Argo Navis; Phi Velorum and the Pulsar P 0950, both of which reside exactly on the Galactic Equator in the sail (Velorum) of the Argo; The Antennae (of the Ark) Spiral Galaxy NGC 4039 in Corvus the Raven; and Diadem of Coma Berenices.
Zaniah, Eta Virgo, is an ecliptical star, less than 2° north in ecliptical latitude. Zaniah inspires the "right use of will" directed by soul-level impulses and unadulterated by personality or egoic-level influences. Zaniah is also the Chinese "Left-hand Maintainer of Law" (Allen). Zaniah is of Virgin purity--being a clear vessel to know right action--also a feminine quality.
In the southern heavens and conjoining Zaniah lies Turais Carina and Phi Velorum, both of Argo Navis, which lies along the galactic equator, and thus is more associated with our longer-term soul-level sojourn and our evolutionary course.
Turais (Aspidiske) of the Argo is a rather rare white supergiant star that shines with a luminosity of 4900 of our suns, with a radius estimated to be about 43 times that of our sun. This Arabian name has led to some confusion regarding the nature of this star, even confused to be part of Puppis the stern of the Argo, but it lies along the gunwale in Carina, the hull of the Argo, under Velorum the sail (Allen).
Phi Velorum and the adjoining Pulsar P 0950 reside exactly on the Galactic Equator in the Sail (Velorum) of the Argo. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, and in this case, inspiring our attunement to the evolutionary currents beyond our incarnational moment, those of the greater evolutionary process itself. P-0950 has a pulse rate of 1.436551 seconds, which is a frequency of 0.696111729 Hz. Raised a few octaves, this translates to an Alpha brain wave frequency of 11.1377...Hz; and this translates both to infrared and violet wavelengths in the light spectrum. Thus, P-0950 links energy currents occurring in the spiritual realm (crown chakra) with the very root / earth primordial response (Earth Chakra--about a foot below our feet). This pulsar reminds us that to receive our spiritual guidance we must be grounded--like any good antenna.
Galactic Turais and Phi Velorum puts ecliptical Zaniah's "right use of will" into a greater evolutionary context, one with cosmic ramifications that extend throughout spacetime. Our acts of will are not isolated, cut off and limited to the moment itself, but extend into the past-future time-stream of the soul influencing the continuous cosmic currents in soul's greater evolutionary journey in ways that are unseen in the action moment.
Turais asks us to extend our awareness into this time-stream, while Zaniah inspires clear action in the moment from soul's and nature's guiding influence. Thus each action moment is one punctual droplet of many composing a continuous time-stream that formulates the path or wave upon which soul travels. Turais invites us to recognize our actions extend into and influence not only the nature of our own lives, but also the lives of others, effecting the meandering currents in an ocean of being. They set up resonances in spacetime that define the nature of experiences yet to come for our selves and in the evolutionary journey of all involved.
This is not to be confused with attempting to be responsible for others or to define their experience--which is a miss-use of will. The responsibility is for our active and conscious participation from the clarity of our spiritual soul-level guidance expressed in action. Turais demands we act from the awareness of our greater evolutionary journey and adds a sense of "cosmic responsibility" for what is "put into motion" through Zaniah's "right use of will."
As far south as Turais, Ioto Argo is (~67° south ecliptical latitude), we find the Draconian Ed Asich, an Ioto designation as well just as far north (~71° north ecliptical latitude). Ed Asich, in the Dragon, is a fainter star and of far less significance, but none the less colouring the Zaniah / Turais theme. Ed Asich holds the quality of the male Hyaena--a carnivorous nocturne waiting around to eat what has been already killed by other means--laughing as it were, in this case about one's stupidity from not heeding their inner guidance. It is this stellar quality that can also taint this zodiakal longitude with a bit of a cowardice character--influencing one to ignore the messages expressing from the world around them--thus something to be attentive to.
Also worth mentioning is Quasar 3C273 of Virgo due it being the brightest of the quasars visually at ~12.9 magnitude, although the optical range of the electromagnetic spectrum is not what defines a quasar's influence. Quasars (Quasi-Stellar-Radio-Source) emit energy over a broad range of the electromagnetic spectrum, from the far-infrared up through human's visible range of light and into the X-ray range of the spectrum, peaking in the ultraviolet.
Quasars can be thought of as the signatures of distant active galaxies, alien realities outside of our local realm of consciousness that have evolved under a different evolutionary premise. Their foreign and wide-spectral emanations can stimulate an exploratory process of detailed or abstract imagery that extends beyond our rather narrow band of visual capacities and that may not seem to fit into our current experience, thereby offering new non-conforming possibilities of conceptual thought, which subsequently motivates alternative behavior and alternative solution.
Quasar 3C273 lies just above Zaniah and Porrima by 2 degrees in latitude and below Vindemiatrix by about 11 degrees. Quasar 3C273 principally expresses through Zaniah (right use of will), Porrima (fore-vision), and Vindemiatrix (attentiveness to timing), augmenting their qualities. This synthesis creates a perceptual time-warp that embraces more of spacetime than the current moment, in essence stretching our perception to embrace past-future time with the capacity to sense our distant past, and to see forward (as previews or fore-visions) to potentialities already precipitating in spacetime but which we have not yet arrived to in time. This Quasar's emanations can activate imagery and phenomena in the natural world--such as though birds flying or in other animal behavior, through sounds or sights in the world, through synchronicities in meetings with people and events, or through any other natural phenomena occurring in our daily lives.
The Antennae Galaxies - NGC4038/9
"One of the first images from the new VIMOS facility, obtained right after the moment of "first light" on Ferbruary 26, 2002. It shows the famous "Antennae Galaxies" (NGC 4038/9), the result of a recent collision between two galaxies. As an immediate outcome of this dramatic event, stars are born within massive complexes that appear blue in this composite photo, based on exposures through green, orange and red optical filters."

We must be perceptually attentive to such imagery or messages and have implicit trust to act upon our impulses or the for-visions we see so we can meet opportunities already precipitating into manifestation that we may otherwise miss. The purpose of future vision or telepathic awareness is so we initiate action beforehand, in present time to ensure that we meet or are prepared for the precipitating events in timely fashion; or act in the present so we help may arrive to meeting in a timely fashion.
Diadem of the Virgin (Alpha Coma Berenices), which lies just north of the Virgin's head, and the Antennae (of the Ark), the Spiral Galaxy NGC 4038-9, in Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird, which lies just south of the Virgin on the back of Hydra, work intimately together. Diadem is the jeweled crown in the Virgin's hair. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Diadem accentuates our capacity to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance which communicates through the magnetic forces of nature, through the world around us, as articulated by the stars of southern Corvus the messenger bird. Diadem and the Antennae of Corvus reveal the importance of being attuned to the natural world to receive our guiding impulses.
Corvus, combined with Crateris, has also been imaged as the "Ark of the Covenant." Although the Ark can be considered a technological transceiver for extraterrestrial communication, or a measure of arc in precessional (God's) time, it also has to do with our personal attunement. Our spinal columns are vertically arrayed antenna systems, the most sensitive of all, which receives gravitational waves encoded with cosmic intelligence that the Earth receives and expresses from Earth's core outward. These waves of guidance culminate in our cranial structures where they are then refocused to our pineal glands, neuro-endocrine transducers that translates this information into that which the pituitary, the master control center of the brain, can use. Being a clear, open and grounded vessel is required for perception of these subtle energies. Following them is yet more important.
Back to Venus: We can see the complimentary nature of our Piscean / Lacerta / Reticuli New Moon theme and this new Earth-Venus synodic cycle theme: our requirement to clear out any psychic and emotional cobwebs that would otherwise distort the reception of our true magnetic impulses of the heart and our ability to act upon them. This new 584-day Earth-Venus cycle will fully engage as Venus returns direct later in this lunar cycle. More about Venus.
Just before the Crescent Moon, on March 29, Mars and Chiron begin a new 700-day synodic cycle in late sidereal Capricorn in the overlap area of the constellations Capricorn and Aquarius, creating a fusion of both zodiakal themes. Mars and Chiron (looking from the Sun) conjoin Nashira of Capricorn and Beta Gruis, which set the theme of this cycle.
For those who would like to correlate the Mars-Chiron cycles in history: the last Mars-Chiron cycle began on April 25, 2007 in mid sidereal Capricorn (transition from personal focus to the interest of a larger family / issues of trust arise / but also a lot of talk but little action). The cycle before that began on May 19, 2005 in early sidereal Capricorn (covert maneuvers / war machine / secret strategies and disguises). Our new cycle starting on March 29, 2009 will continue through February 28, 2011, at which time the next cycle will begin in early sidereal Aquarius.
The synthesis of Mars and Chiron in general can motivate action to cross a bridge; perhaps aggressive action in the name of spiritual principles; or perhaps motivation to address and heal issues surrounding inappropriate use of power. Each Mars-Chiron cycle however offers an opportunity to evolve how we use our creative power, to shift into a new octave creative action. This synod occurs in a more fortuitous area of sidereal Capricorn and inspires a cycle of articulate, intelligent and solution oriented action.
Although the stars in the overlap of late sidereal Capricorn are generally fortuitous, Sadalsuud, Beta Aquarius conjoining Deneb Algedi, Delta Capricorn, the tail of the goat-fish, can produce a mixed environment of people. Some are genuinely wise, articulate, and beneficent, and some merely self-proclaimed teachers or counselors on an illusory high horse due to their own self-deception, illusion, and self-importance. Many of these self-proclaimed have group followings and many are cons merely teaching their own ignorance, judgments and illusions of personality to the sleeping or naive ones they lure into their court. They often communicate ideas and concepts of others or learned buzz words and principles learned in schools, or even from personality-based experience, just information they are learning to apply themselves. They often think they know more than everyone else, and that they need to educate, counsel, or give advice to everyone they meet. These individuals can be quite insistent and think of themselves as the world's saving grace, some even using slight-of-hand magic tricks to wow and woo the naïve, not out of arrogance but out of self-deception and illusion. These individuals are found both in the legal system of courts and in the political-religious arena of established followings.
True teachers and genuine guides can also be found here. They generally are more humble and genuine, with little need for a masquerade of advertising antics, guruistic titles, or followings. These individuals are guides with true wisdom--having the embodiment and purpose of the northern Dolphin star system, and with capacity to articulate the wisdom of Aaron--(Alpha and Beta Gruis) the stars of the high priest-scientist.
Nashira and Beta Gruis have higher octave, fortuitous and mature stellar qualities. This is an expressive and articulate area of the zodiak, with gregarious and loquacious qualities. It is of libraries, courts, congresses, publishing houses, literary agencies, or where any legalities are formulated, agreed upon and concretized. Nashira is of good news, especially regarding legalities, business dealings, and constitutional matters, as well as sanctioned matters of the soul. Beta Gruis inspires the verbal expression of related wisdom, that of business and politics. As the stork, Gruis is carrier of bodies of knowledge, information, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. Prominent alignments with Beta Gruis and Nashira are exemplary of carriers of good tidings associated with legalities.
This cycle is a welcomed addition to our Saturn-Uranus opposition occurring over these couple of years and should promote solution-oriented action, helping us to build and cross the bridge at hand. Mars and Neptune will also begin a new synodic cycle a bit later in this lunar cycle, discussed below.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, March 29 (pre-Crescent Moon) is an ideal time to work with the Mars audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in its new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon occurs on March 29-30, 2009, on the cusp of sidereal Aries-Taurus and conjoins the asteroid Vesta. The Taurian cusp lies under the auspices of the Gorgons, a small grouping of stars marking the hand of Perseus (Gorgonea Secunda, Tertia and Quarta). The principle Gorgon is Algol, the slain head of Medusa. Also conjoining is Zaurak of Eridanus; and further south is Alpha Caelum, the chisel.

In the story of the Royal Family, crossing this cusp is where Perseus slays Medusa (his inner fears), lest he would have turned to stone (have become frozen in his fear). Here Perseus completes his intiatory journey and claims his self-mastery, the prerequisite of being able to step into his intended and greater life destiny.
Algol, Beta Persei, marking the cusp of sidereal Taurus, is the head of slain Medusa held in the hand of Perseus, also the Arabic Demon Star. Of the Gorgons, Medusa, who is crowned with seven snakes for hair, represents the chaotic and aberated self-defeating forces within self, driven by fear. It is fear that freezes us in our tracks, the force that turns us to stone. Perseus can not look at Medusa directly lest he turn to stone. He instead uses his shield to see her reflection. This mythically articulates our need to look at that which we hide behind to see the demon apparently outside of self, created by our own fear.
Algol indicates an initiatory and experiential process is required or is at hand. This process begins by slaying our deepest fears to claim our true personal power, or be forever frozen in our tracks unable to claim our fulfillment and complete our greater purpose on Earth. Alignments with Algol can draw a relentless assault of experience that can block or divert us from our purpose until we realize the monster is within--the fear based reflection of self. Algol forces us to look at self rather than at the apparent monsters in the outer world--to recognize they are of our own projection, to own and embrace the demon within. Slaying our fear establishes an inner neurological order that in turn allows us to take empowered action in the physical world. Perseus, the hero, embodies the essence of establishing order.
Zaurak of Eridanus is a point along the river of life where we must claim and trust our own inner light because our path in the world may not be entirely visible. Here we are motivated to trust the inner light we have cultivated through our past intiatory trials (Aries) and step forth into the Earthy world of Taurus (physical action) regardless of any residual fears we may hold.
Conjoining Algol from the south and also contributing to the cusp of sidereal Taurus is Caelum, the sculptor's chisel. Caelum articulates our need to forge through matter, the laborious methodical experiential process required in the physical world to overcome our trials and manifest our visions. Caelum articulates our need to sculpt our lives, chiseled away at a bit at a time just as the sculptor chisels rock to reveal the sculpture waiting to emerge.
Vesta is the asteroid of focus, dedication and commitment; of physical, emotional, and mental clarity; of self-respect; and of sexual openness and of its mysteries. Vesta brings a capacity to be pure within self at all levels for the expression of one's highest potential and true essence. Vesta is of strength, purity, and perfection--of total dedication to purpose. Vesta brings attention to that which is of true importance and will ignite and burn away that which is not. More about Vesta.
Cuspal Taurus is of will power, strength, and stamina, of trusting our inner knowing, and it is this that our Crescent Moon invites along with Vesta's clarity, focus and conviction of purpose.
Haumea with her two moons
Haumea, believed to be composed of pure rock with a pure ice shell, has an ellipsoidal shape, is about the size of Pluto in length, and has an orbital period of 285 Earth years. It spins extremely rapid end-over-end at a rate of 3.9 Earth hours. Haumea maintains a state of equilibrium due to its rapid rotation. Although not round, this why it is classified as a Dwarf Planet.
Illustration: Ann Feild/STScI/ESA/NASA
The Sun, Venus and the Dwarf Planet Haumea align on April 1, 2009, which marks the start of a new Venus-Haumea synodic cycle. Although we have little verified information on Haumea's astrological influence, I present an in-depth exploration of Haumea in the article "Haumea and Makemake." In brief this exploration suggests that Haumea's propensity is to intercede with dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise to support a new birth in consciousness about the fundamental primordial forces of life. Haumea also appears to motivate action to reorient world powers' militaristic destructive use of power and resources into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family; and that aids humanity's emergence into a spiritually and primordial aware state of being. At a personal level, Haumea inspires the application of our personal attributes and resources for the same principles.
Haumea and Venus, which also provides a harmonizing and balancing force, would seem to synthesize well. Their combined qualities suggest a new birth of the heart. Venus is also of art, abundance and finance; inspires trust in self, courage, self-confidence and intuitive knowing. Venus is also magnetic and sensuous, of openness in intimacy.
Venus lies in sidereal Virgo and Haumea is north of the ecliptic, having passed through Coma Berenices, and is now approaching Muphrid, the left foot of Bootes. Specifically conjoining is Seginus, the left shoulder of Bootes; and Beta Volans; and the essence of Corvus--our messenger bird discussed above under the Venus Synodic theme.
The Sombrero Galaxy lies just north of Corvus in Virgo. This ESO Photo of the Sombrero Galaxy (Messier 104) was obtained with FORS1 multi-mode instrument at VLT ANTU on January 30, 2000. It is a composite of three exposures in different wavebands." Image Credit: ESO
Seginus, the left shoulder of Bootes, the Virgin's consort and protector, is of strength and responsibility; and conjoining Muphrid, the left foot of Bootes, is facilitator that makes way for a new birth from the Virgin. Seginus and Muphrid inspire responsible action to provide personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments and physical conditions are created so an unadulterated birth can occur--so a spiritual (conceptual) to physical transformation can occur.
Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with navigational mapping, and transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression--the capacity to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into new life expression or realm of consciousness.
Earth and Haumea will also begin a new 366-day synodic cycle with the same alignments on April 4-5, thus integrating the new 584-day Earth-Venus synodic cycle, the 225-day Venus-Haumea synodic cycle, and the 366-day Earth-Haumea synodic cycle--adding significantly to this lunar cycle's dynamic: the Intercession of a Pure Heart, A New Birth in Consciousness. In other worlds, Haumea's influence and theme is integral with our New Earth-Venus synodic cycle.
Due to the slow motion of Haumea, the Venus-Haumea theme and the Earth-Haumea theme are one's that repeat (shifting slightly) over several cycles and thus provides a consistent current over the years ahead. The primary conjoining star at this time of Bootes is Seginus (recognizing our responsibility to establish a proper environment to ensure our new birth. By 2013, Haumea will lie just one quarter of a degree south of Muphrid--at which demanding demonstrable action of Bootes' theme, and marking a significant step forward in supporting a new birth in consciousness.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, April 1 is an ideal time to work with the Venus audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Veil (Lacework) Nebula NGC6960 in Cygnus
This image of the Veil (Lacework) Nebula was taken with the Mosaic camera on the WIYN 0.9-meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. "The Veil Nebula (NGC 6960) is part of a supernova remnant known as the Cygnus Loop. It is the shattered remains of one, and possibly two, supernovae that exploded more than 15,000 years ago at a distance of 2,500 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation of Cygnus, the Swan. At the time of the explosion, it would have been seen as a very bright star, rivaling the crescent Moon. The bright star near the center of the image, known as 52 Cygnus, is not associated with the supernova."

The Sun, Mars and Neptune align on April 2, just after the Venus-Haumea synod and just one hour before First Quarter Moon. The First Quarter Moon also trines Mars, adding to our stimulus to action in this lunar cycle. The Sun-Mars-Neptune alignment marks the start of a new 693-day Mars-Neptune Synodic Cycle.
The synod occurs in the last degree of sidereal Capricorn, on the cusp of Capricorn-Aquarius. Mars is exalted in later Capricorn, adding an empowered and mature dynamic to Mars' assertive use of creative power.
The Mars-Neptune synod conjoins very fortuitous stars: Sadalsuud, Beta Aquarius; Deneb Algedi, the tail of what now turns into the fish-goat; and Sadr, the heart of Cygnus, which marks the Aquarian cusp.
Sadalsuud of Aquarius is the luckiest in the kingdom of worldly affairs, and is said to be the Fortune of the Fortunate. Sadalsuud, along with Deneb Algedi, produce genuinely wise, articulate, unique, and beneficent leadership.
The cusp of sidereal Aquarius is marked by the wing of Cygnus the Swan, which extends from Sadr, the heart of the Swan, to Gienah, the tip of the wing. We also have the Veil (Lacework) Nebula residing on the wing near Gienah as well.
This point in the ecliptic is where we are motivated to strip off the cloaks of personality-based facades and shenanigans to reveal true heart-level self and to live from our deeper hearts' truth for the greater nourishment of all. Sadr, the heart, and the wing of Cygnus lifts us from a self-centered exclusive focus to a more embracing and inclusive level of participation. This marks the start of the true humanitarian facet of the zodiak, which is of vision and creativity, and is innovative for "the future well being of humanity," especially in the arts and sciences.
Mars along with Neptune's dissolving and inspiration force at this location in the elliptic can excite dynamic action-oriented visionary leadership. It inspires use of creative power with humanitarian interest. In addition it can also dissolve veils and illusions regarding the appropriate use of power. This clearly is an invited cycle in our continuing evolutionary symphony.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, April 1 through the First Quarter Moon of April 2 is an ideal time to work with the Mars and Neptune audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" link on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.
Our First Quarter Moon occurs on April 2, immediately following the Mars-Neptune synod. The Moon resides in mid-sidereal Gemini and conjoins Sirius of Canis Major and Canopus of Argo Navis. This ecliptical longitude is also one of the two ecliptical longitudes where Earth's equatorial plane intersects the galactic plane (the anti-GE-CE Node) (this point moves with Earth's precession). This node currently resides in Monoceros, the Unicorn, which brings the magical unexpected experience
Sirius, Alpha Canis Major, is the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher, knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom. Significant alignments with Sirius can bring teachings, lessons, or events of a global or profound proportion, those that can catalyze tremendous evolutionary change. Although Sirius is not of a malevolent nature, such events or lessons can seemingly be imposed upon us without the compassion we might otherwise prefer. Sirius, due to its head strong and authoritarian nature, can also indicate the need to set things free so they can take their own evolutionary course rather than forcefully manipulating a scenario or the experience of others for some specific outcome based on a sense of righteousness or self-importance--thinking we know what is right for another or that we are responsible to define another's life experience--a miss-placed sense of responsibility. Here lies need to learn about boundaries and to guide but release our offspring, siblings, partners, or creations to their own destinies. Expressing through sidereal Genini, Sirius' influence is often experienced in the world of commerce, along with high intensity intellectual communication, information, and the exchange of it.
Conjoining Sirius from the southern heavens is Canopus, Alpha Carina of Argo Navis, lying along the galactic plane. Argo Navis classically is the ship in the story of Jason and the Argonauts, a version of Gilgamesh and his fifty Sirian warriors. The Argo lies reverse in the heavens, stern to the east, bow to the west, along the galactic equator, thus associated with that which moves retrograde in the heavens, the greater precessional process on Earth, the evolutionary cycle of the soul. The stars of the Argo generally are associated with evolutionary matters for the entire planetary system, and for all souls evolutionary growth and fulfillment.
Canopus is the second brightest star in the heavens after Sirius. Sirius is relatively close to us at 8.6 light years. Canopus, of another galactic sector altogether, is over 312 light years distant. As a galactic equatorial star, and as director / navigator of the Argo (Jason and the Argonauts), of greater evolutionary matters for our solar system, Canopus sets the subtle cosmic currents that guide our lives and support us to change and grow, seeing to the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all souls and ensuring proper evolutionary outcomes. Canopus also brings awareness to the repercussions of global events and how they affect the greater surrounding cosmology. An older derivation of Canopus is the Egyptian Kahi Nub, meaning "Golden Earth"--representative of the vision held for our beloved Earth by this helmsman. Sirius and Canopus are both significantly associated with evolutionary affairs of Earth and humanity, and so can herald potent global experience.
Our First Quarter Moon trine Mars can bring unexpected motivation to initiate sweeping action that drastically alters our courses in life.
Pluto begins its retrograde in sidereal Sagittarius on April 4, just before the Earth-Haumea synod. Pluto's location in the ecliptic currently conjoins the Solar Apex (the current direction of our Solar System's movement in our galaxy). This begins the transition period in our current Earth-Pluto synodic cycle hallmarked by Pluto's primary alignment over the Gate of God, presented in the June 2008 Lunar Planner. The next Earth-Pluto cycle will begin in the midst of Pluto's retrograde on Aug 28, 2009 conjoining the Solar Apex. Pluto's station helps to provide an openning in this lunar cycle. Generally Pluto's station can be felt throughout the week or two leading into it.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
This computer model shows Regulus (left) and the Sun as they would appear side by side. Here, Regulus is tilted so that its axis, denoted by the dotted line, is near horizontal. Credit: CHARA/GSU/H.McAllister.
Regulus is shaped like an egg due to its rapid spin (curiously similar to the Dwarf Planet Haumea). At five times the diameter of our own Sun, Regulus completes a rotation in only 15.9 hours, where as our Sun takes 24 days to rotate once). This extreme rotational speed gives Regulus a bulge. Regulus is spinning at 86% of its breakup speed. Any faster, the star would rip apart. Our sun's equatorial spin speed is roughly 4,500 miles per hour. Regulus' equatorial spin speed is nearly 700,000 miles per hour at its diameter, about five times greater than our sun's. Regulus is also traveling through the galaxy at a direction along it polar axis.
Technical info: Hal McAlister et al. (2005, astro-ph/0501261), director of Georgia State University's Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy, using the CHARA array.
This Gibbous Moon occurs on April 5-6 in sidereal Leo conjoining retrograde Ceres; Regulus, the Heart of the Lion; and Megrez of the Great Bear. The asteroid Ceres, about to complete its retrograde, is the mother of the main asteroids and is now appropriately classified as a Dwarf Planet. Ceres brings awareness to how we nurture and to that which is truly nurturing to us. Ceres embodies mothering and agricultural qualities and brings attention to our relation with the Earth, the land, and the seasons. Due to Ceres association with the land and the environment, Ceres is of particular interest in charts associated with environmental changes or events. Ceres reveals our ability to be in universal flow--the unification of giving and receiving as one flow of energy through ourselves. Ceres asks us to acknowledge our fundamental human needs, and to have self love. Ceres is of concern and caring for others as well as for the Earth. More about Ceres.
Regulus, Alpha Leo, at 5° sidereal Leo, is "Chief or King of the Four Royal Stars" (Regulus, Fomalhaut, Aldebaran, and Antares). Throughout antiquity Regulus was associated with royalty and kings (the colors royal blue and gold). Its name is given as "the Regulus" or "the Rex," meaning the "Law Giver." Regulus is considered the governing king of the four royals for several reasons. It lies almost exactly upon the ecliptic, thus, once a year around Aug 22-23, during Earth's orbit around the sun, the sun occults Regulus. Residing at about 5 degrees sidereal Leo, Regulus is the only one of the four royal stars prominently aspecting the Holy Cross (the Gate of God at 5° Sag and the Gate of Man at 5° Gemini), both in longitude and in latitude. The Rex is therefore an administrative seat, a foundational star insuring integrity and order.
On the personal level, Regulus is about our inner "vertical integrity," that is, living true to self. This means walking in confidence and with self-respect, aligned with the truth in our hearts, in thought, word, and deed. Our personal integrity, our inner vertical attunement, must precede any horizontal, humanitarian participation in the world (Leo's opposite Aquarian pole). Without this inner integrity we become self-sacrificing, entrapped in a sympathetic resonance of dance, giving self away at the cost of our hearts' truth. This perpetuates discord and dysfunction for self and for others because we are simply living a lie. Only by living our hearts' truths do we provide opportunity for others to also stand in integrity and live theirs.
North of Regulus is Megrez of Ursa Major. Megrez (and Phecda) inspire us to look at things from a different, alternative, or askew perspective to see what is otherwise not see--to see that which is behind the scene or creating the appearance. It teaches us discernment, to not be naïve, accepting things from their surface appearance alone. Megrez and Phecda also invite us to look at our selves from an askew perspective to re-examine what drives our persona and the image we project into the world, if it is truly an expression of who we really are, or a mere egoic facade.
Strong Winds over the Keel of the Argo
The Carina Nebula shown in colourful detail
The latest ESO image reveals amazing detail in the intricate structures of one of the largest and brightest nebulae in the sky, the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), where strong winds and powerful radiation from an armada of massive stars are creating havoc in the large cloud of dust and gas from which the stars were born.
The large and beautiful image displays the full variety of this impressive skyscape, spattered with clusters of young stars, large nebulae of dust and gas, dust pillars, globules, and adorned by one of the Universe's most impressive binary stars. It was produced by combining exposures through six different filters from the Wide Field Imager (WFI), attached to the 2.2 m ESO/MPG telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory, in Chile.
The Carina Nebula is located about 7500 light-years away in the constellation of the same name (Carina; the Keel). Spanning about 100 light-years, it is four times larger than the famous Orion Nebula and far brighter. It is an intensive star-forming region with dark lanes of cool dust splitting up the glowing nebula gas that surrounds its many clusters of stars.
The glow of the Carina Nebula comes mainly from hot hydrogen basking in the strong radiation of monster baby stars. The interaction between the hydrogen and the ultraviolet light results in its characteristic red and purple colour. The immense nebula contains over a dozen stars with at least 50 to 100 times the mass of our Sun. Such stars have a very short lifespan, a few million years at most, the blink of an eye compared with the Sun's expected lifetime of ten billion years.

In celebration of the 17th anniversary of the launch and deployment of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, a team of astronomers is releasing one of the largest panoramic images ever taken with Hubble's cameras. It is a 50-light-year-wide view of the central region of the Carina Nebula where a maelstrom of star birth - and death - is taking place. The immense nebula contains at least a dozen brilliant stars that are roughly estimated to be at least 50 to 100 times the mass of our Sun. The most unique and opulent inhabitant is the star Eta Carinae, at far left. Eta Carinae is in the final stages of its brief and eruptive lifespan, as evidenced by two billowing lobes of gas and dust that presage its upcoming explosion as a titanic supernova. The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
Our Full Moon occurs on April 9, 2009 in sidereal Virgo just a few degrees past Haumea. The Moon conjoins Haumea on the festive Full Moon eve (Aug 8). Again our Earth-Venus-Haumea theme becomes prominent. Here we have enthusiasm and realizations about what this new birth in consciousness means to each of us and why it is of such importance.
The Full Moon conjoins Muphrid, the left foot of Bootes; Alpha Volans of the flying fish; and influencing is the magnificent star Eta Carina and the Eta Carina Nebula in Argo Navis.
Bootes functions not by outward force but by spiritual awareness and intellectual prowess in the application of the knowledge about such environmental issues and transcendent subtle forces. Bootes' action is based from a place of receptivity and sensitivity to the situation at hand, action associated with planning, preparation, and strategy. Muphrid and Seginus lie over the lower spinal sacrum (sanctum) of the Virgin and the Virgin's womb--protecting these principles and those of sacred sex, its purity, and the secrets behind gestation, birth, and life itself.
Eta Carina is Lord of the Waves (the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu--he who warned Noah), generally is considered the foreteller of impending catastrophe, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man "Oannes," who taught the Chaldaeans, both esoteric science and that which would civilize their lives, from building cities and temples to agricultural technique. (Robert Temple, "The Sirius Mystery" / Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled") Eta embodies the esoteric Theosophical Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Oannes is the emblem of priestly, esoteric wisdom; he comes out from the sea, because the 'great deep', the water, typifies...the secret doctrine." (Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled")
From an Earthian perspective, Eta Carina is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy--estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in 1842 A.D., then making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 to 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carina theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998--perhaps Eta's warnings. Because of Eta’s strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level--stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth's safe evolutionary outcome. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift.
Our Manifesting Moon of April 13 lies in mid-sidereal Scorpio, and just before Antares of Scorpio. Also conjoining are: Al Niyat of Scorpio, which is considered to be the arteries of the Scorpion, or neurology, that connects Antares, the Heart of the Scorpion, with the Scorpion's head; and Han, the knee of Ophiuchus, he who has claimed his self-mastery over the forces governing life and death and stands over the Scorpion. Han, the knee of Ophiuchus and Al Niyat, the neurology of the Scorpion (both conjoining Antares) articulate the transformational process occurring as we rise from being lost in the forces of life, having been stung by them, to standing in our self-mastery while immersed within those forces.
The Bright Reflection Nebula IC4603 Rho Ophiuchus
Antares, Alpha Scorpio, the Heart of the Scorpion, marks the center of sidereal Scorpio. Antares is one of the "Four Royal Architects" along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Fomalhaut, each in their respective quadrants of the sky. Antares, the 15th brightest star, is about 700 times the size of our sun, and is one of the largest stars. It is quite elongated with a polar diameter about 63% of its equatorial diameter, red in color, said to rival Mars in brightness when they are seen together.
In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, and with expounded meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (an arena common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with tenacious adamancy. This is especially in regard to taking a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.
However, It is only the less aware whom mistake this power point in the ecliptic to mean fight or destroy what one still perceives as forces outside of self required to combat. Antares marks a point of empowerment in sidereal Scorpio, a point of immanation. Those who have embraced their initiations and claimed their self-empowerment, who have graduated from playing victim in the entrapments common to the claws of the Scorpion, and who have learned to take responsibility for their reality, which occurs at the head of the Scorpion, this is place of self-empowerment. Here at the Heart of the Scorpion, one claims their immanace, the inseparable nature of life, having reconciled the forces within and without, who knows of their oneness and of the inseparable permeability of the Creation Force--as is exemplified by Ophiuchus, who demonstrably stands over the Scorpion, the exemplar of this wisdom.
Either way, Our Antares Gibbous Moon is about our personal transformation, and motivates us to take responsibility for our reality, for the lives we create, and to "take a stand" for our truth and live it.
The Sun moves into sidereal Pisces on April 14.
Ceres and Saturn begin a new 5.3-year synodic cycle in late sidereal Leo as the Sun, Ceres and Saturn align on April 15. This cycle continues through mid-August of the 2014.This cycle nests in the context of the few year long Saturn-Uranus Opposition; and in the context of the recent Earth-Saturn synodic theme, which began on March 8, 2009.
This Creres-Saturn cycle brings attention to our responsibility regarding environmental and agricultural concerns, to our relation with the Earth, and regarding the general nurturing of the human populous. Considering the star alignments at the hind of the Lion, this demands we address the neglect and / or cover-ups regarding these issues; as well as addressing toxic conditions of our land, water and food. In the context of the Saturn-Uranus opposition currently underway, this topic is one that must be addressed as we continue to identify the radical changes required in our lives as a global community.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on April 17.
Venus completes its retrograde just hours after Last Quarter Moon. The new 584-day Earth-Venus synodic cycle fully engages and its theme (present above) becomes a significant aspect to our "inner need to initiate change" arising within ourselves--and motivating us to make changes in our lives based upon the clarity we (hopefully) have claimed regarding "living true to heart" in this lunar cycle.
One of our closest neighbors, the irregular shaped galaxy NGC-6822
Resembling curling flames from a campfire, this magnificent nebula in a neighboring galaxy is giving astronomers new insight into the fierce birth of stars as it may have more commonly happened in the early universe. The glowing gas cloud, called Hubble-V, has a diameter of about 200 light-years. A faint tail of nebulosity trailing off the top of the image sits opposite a dense cluster of bright stars at the bottom of the irregularly shaped nebula. NASA's Hubble Space Telescope's resolution and ultraviolet sensitivity reveals a dense knot of dozens of ultra-hot stars nestled in the nebula, each glowing 100,000 times brighter than our Sun. These youthful 4-million-year-old stars are too distant and crowded together to be resolved from ground-based telescopes. The small, irregular host galaxy, called NGC 6822, is one of the Milky Way's closest neighbors and is considered prototypical of the earliest fragmentary galaxies that inhabited the young universe. The galaxy is 1.6 million light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius." --and on the cusp of sidereal Sag-Capricorn.

Our Last Quarter Moon occurs in the first few degrees of sidereal Capricorn and conjoins Alpha and Beta Indus; also influencing are two pulsars in Vulpecula.
The first couple degrees of Capricorn inspires the manifestation of our high spiritual ideals and the beauty of late Sagittarius / Lyra into practical and applicable concretized form. Significantly influencing this transition are the supernova remnant Pulsar CP1919 (the first discovered) and the pulsar PSR1929, both in northern Vulpecula, the fox. The supernova remnant / pulsar has a pulse rate of 1.33730115212 seconds, which translates to the extremes in the color spectrum (at 3560Å Near Ultra-Violet and at 7120Å Deep Red) inspiring integration of the high spiritual and deep emotionally passionate material plane, a resonance with our star chakra and Earth-root chakra. The other pulsar has a pulse rate of 0.2265170380 sec, which translates to a perfect turquoise (at 4824Å). Turquoise is an ideal balancing color, one used in color therapy for sexual imbalances, dyslexia, vertigo, perceptual problems and other related conditions associated with the equilibrium and balance centre of the brain.
Here we have inspiration to manifest and live our higher ideals and visions; to appreciate the inherent beauty of nature and integrate that beauty into form. It inspires us to create equipoise between the spiritual and material aspects of our lives. This few degree band of the zodiak especially brings attention to our living environments and our need to establish harmony between the structures in which we live, the land, and the locations at which we live.
Indus, classically the desert Persian, is the native indigenous person, much like the Native American, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab, or the Mountain Shaman--sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Indus articulates the steward of a special place, a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways. This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, and passionate. It can even be of fanaticism and obsession. Although seemingly driven from personal motive, it is often of those with a broad global vision and special interest. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery. Indus has a deep respect for the land, for life, and is intimately sensitive to a place's power and purpose.
This first few degree area of sidereal Capricorn is of our personal motive and privacy. It is of esoteric knowledge as well as the secret places and orders associated with such, or merely places of our personal retreat and seclusion--but places strategic to our purpose. It is of all that is indigenous. It is of hermitages, exclusive retreats, or isolated places with a spiritual focus or specific purpose--including sacred sites or places of power under the care of their mysterious stewards. It is also of sacred architecture and geometry.
In this stellar light, our Last Quarter Moon's inner need to change inspires the integration of the truth in our hearts, art, natural beauty, and the places in which we live; and it brings attention to the importance of fundamental harmony of the environments and structures in which we live.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon of April 21 resides in sidereal Aquarius and conjoins Achernar, Alpha Eridanus; Ankaa, Alpha Phoenix; Delta Sculptor; Homam of Pegasus; and Beta Horologium.

Eridanus is the River of Life, and Achernar, Alpha Eridanus is the end of the river. Achernar indicates fulfillment, completion, integration, and rewards from what has been gained from the long and winding incarnational journey of life. Achernar reveals we have paid our dues, we have arrived from the winding tumultuous river of life to the ocean of being.
Ankaa, Alpha Phoenix, is the lucida of the Thunderbird. Ankaa embodies the essence conveyed in the symbol of the phoenix rising from the ashes of the trials of the long and winding road in full illuminated glory. In another mythical imaging, Ankaa is the talisman upon the staff of the high priest-scientist Aaron, brother of Miriam and Moses. The Ankh / Ankaa is emblematic of the fulfillment of a journey, a mission begun long ago. It is Aaron’s amulet of power--having claimed the wisdom and fulfillment from the journey. Ankaa is also the emblem of Universal (Uranian) Love.
Homam, Zeta Pegasus, a fortuitous star, is "lucky star of the hero," also "lucky star of the high-minded man." Homam embodies the essence of the Pegasus theme in completion. Homan inspires the inner drive to find a solution to our physical needs. It is of achievement and success.
Beta Horologium, of the pendulum clock, conjoins Homam and adds an additional element to Homam's quality--of now being able or in a position to return to reclaim what is rightfully ours or to re-engage to achieve our original goal after what was a long but prerequisite journey.
A sense of completion about what may have seemed to have been a diversionary leg along our life journeys, and the ability to re-engage upon our underlying focus and purpose hallmarks the finish of this Lunar Cycle.
Mars and Venus conjoin just hours after the Balsamic Moon of April 21, and the Moon then conjoins Uranus, Venus and Mars a day later, appropriately stimulating spontaneity and action from the heart--a new birth in consciousness.
Our next New Moon occurs on April 24 (MST) / 25 (GMT) in sidereal Aries. More to come then.
