Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
This New Moon occurs in late sidereal Taurus, conjoining Bellatrix of Orion, the female warrior; Capella, the messenger of light of Auriga, the charioteer; the stars Alpha and Beta of the Camel, a constellation lying north of Taurus; the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula, also of the charioteer; and several others. This is an area of zodiak inspiring enterprising execution of grand physical projects, ventures, and strategies. It is of all that supports our physical well-being and sustenance. It produces an energetic not of the timid, but of those with purpose and headstrong desire for enterprising solution and which brings good through commerce and business affairs.
The First Quarter Moon, which brings "stimulus to action" in a lunar cycle, creates a powerful and dynamic Grand Square with the Jupiter-Uranus opposition to Saturn, and Ceres. Jupiter began its several month opposition to Saturn and its several month conjunction with Uranus in the previous lunar cycle. Jupiter's prominent arrival into the few-year timeline of aspects involving Saturn, Makemake, Uranus and Pluto, brings a tremendous shift in our current planetary timeline--in essence, mobilizing and expanding upon the radical changes already occurring in our lives. Jupiter's mobilizing influence is a welcomed occurrence. This stimulus to action First Quarter Moon Grand Square, nesting in our Taurus-Orion-Auriga lunar theme, brings tremendous impetus for ambitious, adventurous, radical, and dynamic all-embracing physical action.
The Full Moon Eclipse of June 25, brings another significant shift, as the Full Moon conjoins Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius, upon the hand and bow of the Zen Archer. The planetary alignment is Sun-Earth-Moon-Pluto, which also marks the start of the next Earth-Pluto 367-day (synodic) cycle. This is also the exalted location for radical and dynamic Uranus--all bringing revelation to the nature of this lunar cycle's theme.
This Pluto Full Moon Eclipse marks entry into a very potent turning point in our planetary cycles, created by upcoming Jupiter-Pluto-Saturn T-square, which starts to form and which will fully engage in following lunar cycle and peak in August 2010. This upcoming intensification will create a crisis point in the world and in our lives, much like a "healing crisis." However, as we emerge from it, and continue into early 2011, we should experience a welcomed and refreshing expansion in consciousness and positive turning in the events of our lives.
Venus and Mars begin a new 317-day (synodic) cycle in this lunar cycle in sidereal Virgo, bringing us good advice considering our current tumultuous ride and unpredictable experience over the months ahead.
These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more, based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

New Moon Phase Characteristics
The New Moon of June 12 resides in late sidereal Taurus and conjoins Bellatrix of Orion; Capella of Auriga; Alpha and Beta Camelopardalis (the Camel); Arneb, Alpha Leporis and Nihal, Beta Leporis (the Hare); AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula in Auriga, which lies near Capella; and Phaet, Alpha Columba (the Dove). Also of influence is El Nath, the North Horn of the Bull.

Bellatrix, Gamma Orion, is the Female Amazon Warrior, the conqueror, star of the Amazon. Bellatrix holds excellent capacities in "strategic planning," especially regarding enterprising pusuits (in contrast to Betelgeuse, the male warrior, whose capacity is more about response in the moment). Classically, Bellatrix is lucky in administrative accomplishment--in civil, political, and military office. Bellatrix is especially favorable for women, and brings a loquacious quality. This star announces the rising of the more brilliant enterprising star Rigel, the left foot of Orion. Orions in general are known for their architectural capacity. Prominent alignments with Rigel and Bellatrix bring the capacity to embody, direct and execute large, extravagant and grandiose projects; bringing good through commerce and business affairs.
South of Orion is Lepus, the hare, with Arneb, Alpha Lepus, and Nihal, Beta Lepus, conjoining Bellatrix. Lepus, muscular and larger than the rabbit, and with much larger feet, is considered a female totem. The hare, like the rabbit mythically articulates creativity, except this is one who is boldly pro-creative, and often is silently and perceptively scheming to outsmart and outrun its competition for the multiplication of abundance---another facet of the nature of Bellatrix and this few degree band of sidereal Taurus--a making for the managerial, administrative, and business-minded quality common to Bellatrix. The rabbit and the hare are both associated with the moon, the feminine and fertility, and let us note the Moon is exalted in sidereal Taurus.
Just north of Tarurus is Capella, Alpha Auriga. Capella is the messenger of light and the driver of the chariot. Capella can illuminate a situation and bring guidance from an un-biased spiritual perspective that can help to break a stronghold that might otherwise drag on endlessly. Capella is removed (lying north of the galactic equator) from the dramatics of the political-religious factions fighting military battles in the physical trenches of life (horns of the bull and Orion). Capella inspires courage, movement and a positive sense of adventure for achievement. Capella acts as a welcomed beacon of light that embraces and illuminates the paradox of duality and side-taking. Capella is a double-binary star system consisting of four stars: two yellow giants and two red dwarfs, with a 104.02-day eclipse period.
IC 405 is the red/blue nebula to the left of center. It is being illuminated by the energetic star AE Aurigae (embedded in the nebula). However AE Aurigae's story is inextricably linked to another star called Mu Columbae [now residing between Phaet and Wezen]. Around 2.7 million years ago these two stars were formed and had a close encounter with one another in the Great Orion Nebula. The encounter was so close (another star was certainly involved) that each of them was ejected from the Orion complex never to return again. Currently these stars are 66 degrees away from one another in the sky. Astronomer's discovered these two runaway stars by measuring their apparent (fast) motion and noting that if you work backwards in time - the origin is in the same place at the same time! But AE Auriga is certainly the more glamorous of the two stars since it just happens to be moving through a region of gas that makes it look like a "Flaming Star."
Image & Caption Credit: Adam Block/NOAO/AURA/NSF
Also conjoining is the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula C405. An interesting observation about the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula is that it came from the same location as Mu of Columba the Dove, emblem of Divine dispensation--both from the Great Orion Nebula. It appears as if the two stars had a very close encounter only to be expelled from the Orion Nebula, and now reside in different parts of the heavens. This suggests a renegade or outcast quality, one who lives outside the beliefs and conventions of its group, a free and highly creative thinker moving on its own, even with its own agenda, which is quite fitting to this longitude of Taurus and to impious but highly creative and enterprising Orion.
In the far northern heavens is the Camel (Alpha and Beta Camelopardalis, conjoining Bellatrix). The Camel articulates the nature of this zodiakal band in Taurus well. The Camel spreads wealth around the world through commerce and business, is a resilient, enduring, hard working and intelligent beast of burden with the ability to go for days without water before becoming distressed, one suited for long and arduous journeys. This also articulates the planning and administrative nature of Bellatrix and the plodding and enduring nature of Taurus in general.
Also lying within this band of the zodiak and primarily conjoining Capella is Phaet, Alpha Columba, the Dove. Columba creates an opening between the spirit world and human world that provides divine dispensation, rescue heavenly sent, unexpected assistance, a turn for the better, as in finding calm after a storm or land after a long voyage lost at sea. The Dove brings a reward far outweighing the burden of the experience, a harmonious solution or means from a seemingly irresolvable situation or stalemate. The Dove is a sign that a bright and prosperous future is to come, and indicates creativity through new companionship. Phaet is the Divine Dispensation itself, usually arriving after a long and arduous struggle and the surrender of it.
Last but not least is the influence of El Nath of Taurus. El Nath and Al Hecka, the latter on the cusp of sidereal Gemini, lie over the head and belt of Orion, and south of Auriga, the Charioteer. The Horns embody the pursuit, struggle, and engagement in the physical world.
El Nath, Beta Taurus (also shared with Auriga as Gamma Auriga), is the north horn the Bull. El Nath brings the capacity for tenacious perseverance for accomplishment, and inspires the drive to continue to persevere to achieve a breakthrough. El Nath is of worthy pursuit for our future freedom.
Our Lunar theme is dynamic, one inspiring enterprising execution of grand physical projects, ventures, and strategies, those that support our physical well-being and sustenance. It produces an energetic of ambition, adventure, courage and conviction, endurance, even an individualistic ferocity. It is an energetic of those with defiant purpose and headstrong desire for solution.
Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon of June 15 resides in mid-sidereal Cancer and conjoins Asellus Bor. and Aus., the ass of the Crab; Delta Hydra and the Pulsar CP0834 of Hydra; and Gianfar of Draco and the Quasar 1133+704 of Draco. This is also the exalted sidereal location for Jupiter.
Cancer, commonly the crab today, is also the Egyptian Scarabaeus, an image that articulates the theme of humanity's emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion and its reawakening back to light. The Scarab is an appropriate mythical figure, as no one knows the exact time of the emergence of the beetle from its snuggle in its own dung, because it does not seem to follow any natural cycle in nature. This theme also applies to our individual emergence from the family nest or from the collective consciousness that we co-create. The Scarab is a symbol of regeneration, transformation and re-birth, of being self-created, or self-made, to rise from itself--hence humanity's association with the beetle emerging form its own dung.
Asellus Aus. and Bor., the southern and northern stars that create the ass of the Crab are of being encrusted in old and antiquated patterns, personal and collective dogmatic belief structures, and sticky modalities of being that perpetuate stasis. Classically they are considered to be unfortunate stars with a somewhat stubborn nature. They can stimulate a desire to nourish, fortify and accumulate to such a degree that one can get self-consumed in their own pile of stuph'.
Delta through Zeta Hydra and Pulsar CP0834 create Hydra's head. Hydra's head articulates a multifarious undermining source of destruction (every time Hercules took off one the Hydra's heads, it immediately grew another).
Pulsar CP0834, in the head of Hyrda, does not lie along the galactic plane as most pulsars, and so may influence our biological personality workings and primordial response more so than being a guiding beacon for the soul. It may reinforce our repetitive, monotonous, subconscious patterns that perpetuate stasis--that part of ourselves that undermines our ability to change, but it can also make visible those patterns that we need to change, a constant reminder that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures.
CP0834 has a fundamental frequency of 0.785075095881 Hz which translates to 6781.8Å Red / 3390.9Å Near UV in the light spectrum. This resonance engages physical behavioral and musculature patterns--literally our capacity to act in the physical as well as our brain's frontal lobe--which in part, governs our capacity to see alternative paths and to move forward from the neurologically engrained patterns of the past. This pulsar's harmonic also cross-resonates with Saturn's circumference harmonic, which can manifest as long standing behavioral patterns that perpetuate stasis or rigidity--hence our need to become consciously aware of our repetitive behavioral patterns and have the conscious deliberation to change.
Conjoining Hydra's head is northern Gianfar, Lambda Draco, on the tail of the Dragon. Gianfar, the poisoned place, is of neurological currents, specifically those emanating from "poisons of the heart" that manifest cellular patterns within ourselves that relentlessly destroy all we touch through endless battering of our courage, optimism, and strength--destroying us through sheer exhaustion. Here we are asked to realize how unresolved bitterness of the heart can perpetually avert us from the fulfillment we seek.
Conjoining Gianfar is the Quasar 1133+704 of Draco. The objects astronomers call Quasars are high-potency point-sources of energy found at extreme distances from our own galaxy. They radiate a power level greater than our galaxy and are believed to be the oldest and most distant objects ever detected. Generally, we can associate Quasars with an ancient and initiating creative power, one that is mysterious, elusive, but that inspires our exploration of alternatives not in our current realm of experience.
Quasar 1133+704 of Draco also inspires us to create the space to explore the inner fears that tie us to the past and that keep us from living our heart's truth in the present, so we can emerge from antiquated and engrained neural-net patterns and establish new and alternative pathways.
Jupiter is exalted at mid-sidereal Cancer and indicates our requirement to mobilize greater spiritual and physical truths and principles, and more bold expansive action to address such poisonous conditions--otherwise a mere combative approach simply antagonizes the onslaught. This Cancerian centre can also be indicative of excessive lymphatic and circulatory congestion and toxicity. Jupiter governing the lymphatic system, and legs (the lymphatic pump) embodies the requirement for physical movement, and purification of the lymph.
Our Crescent Moon expands on our lunar theme bringing inspiration to emerge from our self imposed limits of the past and from those engrained belief structures that perpetuate our imagined limitations.
First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on June 18-19 in early sidereal Virgo conjoining Saturn. This First Quarter Moon forms a Grand Square with the Sun square to the Jupiter-Uranus opposition to Moon-Saturn; and with the Sun opposite Ceres on the Galactic Center--creating a very potent and opportunistic stimulus to concretized and demonstrable action.
In general a Grand Square consists of four squares and two oppositions; with each of the members of the Grand Square in each of the four elements: fire, earth, air, and water. The four squares create a tension that stimulates action and change at the same time, or a better way of putting it, is action that creates change. The oppositions provide perspective of all opposing viewpoints. The common mistake made with such a configuration is to take no action and instead to acquiesce to a stalemate or stasis situation. However, a Grand Square provides a dynamic opportunity, and this one occurring on the "stimulus to action" moon is even more so of this nature. I often call Grand Square "soul gates" because they require the audacity of the soul to make passage, undaunted by personality-egoic-based fears.
This gorgeous color CCD image shows M99, a type Sc spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices, and a prominent member of the Virgo Cluster of Galaxies. Its face-on orientation fully reveals its spiral arms, and this picture has been `flattened' (in brightness) to show arm structure both near the nucleus and into the outer regions of the galaxy (most representations either saturate the center or do not go deep enough to see the edges). This picture was taken in February 1996 at the 0.9-m telescope of Kitt Peak National Observatory.

The Moon and Saturn conjoin Benatnasch of Ursa Major; Zavijava of Virgo; and Beta and Theta of Crateris, the Cup. This is also the location of Haumea's aphelion (the point in Haumea's orbit when furthest from the Sun).
Benatnash is the Tail of the Great Bear (Ursa Major) and one of the classical seven rays. Benatnash expresses the old dictatorial and totalitarian stream of consciousness that was predominantly dominant when Earth's polar alignment was tilted (had fallen) furthest from the galactic plane in Earth's great precessional year (about 6000 years ago).
Benatnasch is of this old governing paradigm. It is of political-religious factions and of those who tend to act as manipulating and controlling god-heads. It is often of those that perpetuate a dogmatic structure that keeps individuals from becoming self-responsible, evolving into their own self-mastery. It is of those who tend to tell others what is right for them and what they should do using propaganda rather than supporting others to make their own decisions in freedom. These are the self-proclaimed saviors of the world who try to amass their blind followers--big brother government and business. As one of seven rays, and at a personal level, Benatnasch teaches that leadership is about facilitating the self-empowerment and freedom of others rather than about exerting manipulative force that controls others, mistaken for self-empowerment.
Conjoining Benatnasch is Zavijava, which lies nearly on the ecliptic. Although a star of Virgo, Zavijava lies outside the realm of Virgo proper, before the head of the Virgin. It does not offer the clarity and purity of awareness common to the rest of the Virgo stars. Zavijava is of a passive and submissive character, articulating the blind and naïve followers of the Benatnasch directive--those who are swayed by the diversionary dramatics of their manipulative leaders and believe in the miss-information they are being fed.
Any hesitancy to initiate bold individualistic action may be based in the fear to break away from the status quo, from mass consensus, or from those around us, a fear bolstered my the dramatic shenanigans upon the worldly stage and propagated my mass-media.
This planetary configuration continues through the Gibbous Moon of June 22 as the Sun makes its exact squares with Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter.
The Earth arrives to its location in its orbit where there is a direct line of sight from the Earth's equator to the Sun, creating the June solstice. This occurs on June 21, 11:28:25 GMT
When "Earth's precessional Holy Cross" was exact (~1998), and the moving vernal axis was exactly square to the galactic equatorial axis, creating the erect Holy Cross, the Solstices occurred exactly on the galactic equatorial nodes (the June solstice on the "Gate of Man" and the December solstice on the "Gate of God"). Now, since we have crossed the threshold of the Holy Cross, and are engaging in the "Last Quarter" of the Earth's precessional cycle, into the time of "Initiating Change," the solstices start to move away from the Galactic Gates (the Galactic Equatorial Nodes). This is a very slow drift, now just at 00° 07'. Thus the June 21, 2010, solstice occurs at 11:28:25 GMT, but Sun does not arrive to the "Gate of Man" until 14:32:05 GMT. This is about three hours apart (03:03:40).

Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction. This Gibbous Moon occurs on June 22 in sidereal Libra. The Moon conjoins Zubenelgenubi of Libra.
Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali in modern illustrations are shown as the scales or balance of Libra. In a much older imaging however, these stars were the claws of the Scorpion--an image revealing a far greater understanding about our incarnational experience and purpose on Earth. Exploring the embracing mythical picture of this part of the heavens (extending through Virgo-Libra-Scorpio) provides greater context and a deeper understanding of Libra's balance.
Although the constellation of Virgo begins at the Leo / Virgo cusp, it extends well into the first half of the sidereal sign of Libra. The Virgin lies supine with her head at the beginning of Virgo. The Virgin's base chakra (Spica, Alpha Virgo) marks the cusp of Virgo / Libra, while the Virgin's legs extend well into Libra, with her feet marking the center (15°) of sidereal Libra. The constellation of Virgo embraces about 46 degrees of the zodiak--the longest of the zodiakal constellations.
The two primary stars of Libra, Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali, respectively lie just past the feet of the Virgin, at about 21° and 24° sidereal Libra. However, in our older mythical image, the chelae of Scorpion extend from the east, from the head of the Scorpion in early sidereal Scorpio, back into sidereal Libra, with Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali marking the open claws of the Scorpion. Zubenelgenubi is the southern claw (residing on the ecliptic) and Zubeneschamali is the northern claw, (residing a bit north of the ecliptic).
The over all image here is of the Virgin giving birth into the Chelae of the Scorpion, an image that articulates the reincarnational birthing of the soul into a process of soul growth gained through the balance of human experience while in the forces of duality. This mythical articulation was destroyed in recent (Chaldaean / Roman) times: The Scorpion's Chelae and the Virgin's legs were severed from our stellar mythos, and so too its profound significance. This is why our modern image of Libra is considered to be the scales of justice--implying the need to experience both sides (a balance) of human experience in order to gain self-mastery as an incarnating soul. It does not imply the guilt trip laden idea of paying for misdeeds deemed by a mediating and governing church-state that pretends to stand between an incarnate soul and God--a ploy used by the church-state puppet-masters to control and manipulate the masses. Nor does it refer to paying for past deeds done in a prior incarnation. Here, in the reincarnational clutches of the Scorpion, the incarnating soul learns self-responsibility and self-mastery, to claim the true freedom that the scales of Libra stand for, by choice, by choosing to move from the patterns and scenarios of the past (Zubenelgenubi) and to participate in a new way, to step into a new way of being, upon a new path of experience --in essence to complete one's destiny or incarnational purpose of soul growth.
Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali are the karmic and dharmic seats for humanity, the former about our past experience and patterns of growth, and the latter about our future path of experience and growth, that which we have yet to do, our capacity, or duty in a sense, to do it differently--to grow and change.
Alignments with Zubenelgenubi, the southern claw, indicate a responsibility to address or complete any entrapping situations--unfinished business, or simply entrapping patterns and scenarios in this life. Zubenelgenubi also marks Saturn's exalted location in the ecliptic. Saturn is often called the lord of karmic retribution. Alignments with Zubeneschamali, the northern claw, indicate a responsibility to step forward from our past patterns of growth and life scenarios into our intended new experience, into our future destiny, by taking the responsibility to choose a new experience, to choose a new way, a new participation. It is through this balance of experience that we free ourselves from our past, or better to say, that fulfills our past.
Venus and Mars begin a new 317-day synodic cycle in sidereal Virgo on June 24, 2010. The previous Venus-Mars cycle began in August 2009 in sidereal Aries. Its theme was presented in the July 22, 2009 Lunar Planner. Generally, Venus and Mars embody the female and male principles and thus their synthesis often has to do with relationships and how we interact in those relationships, especially regarding sex and romance. Their placement in a chart and their location in the ecliptic can alter the nature of their mergence significantly--they can stimulate affection and cooperation as well as conflict between the sexes. The orbits of Venus and Mars embrace Earth's orbit, and this may be in part why they are often felt as opposing forces. Both have a passionate and erotic character. Mars, is action oriented, an initiating creative force. Mars is vital, instinctual, assertive, willful and audacious, and stimulates the expression and use of life force (Chi) and personal power. Mars inspires leadership, accomplishment and is self-reliant. Venus, a harmonizing balancing force, appreciates beauty, art, abundance and wealth. Venus inspires trust, courage and self-confidence. Venus is of openness and intimacy. She is intuitive, sensuous, social, magnetic and erotic. Venus appreciates the rapture of life and love. A Venus-Mars synthesis is about balanced creative action and expression from the heart; as well as action to create harmony, beauty and abundance.

The stars defining the theme of this Venus-Mars cycle are Algorab of Corvus; Beta Hydra. Corvus is of intelligence and ingenuity; the keeper of secrets and a knowledge holder, but is also a prophetic revealer--the "raven messenger bird" to those who are spiritually and physically attuned, and who ask and listen. Corvus reminds us to pay attention to the signs or messages naturally expressing through the world around us moment-by-moment. The signs found in the simplest of life experience can have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally invokes a response from the world around us. Corvus is a protector as well, of both the animal and human worlds, and will forewarn of approaching danger to avert unnecessary mishaps, as well as to affirm fortuitous opportunities, meetings or events so we may act accordingly. Corvus invites us to maintain acute attentiveness to everything occurring around us; to read the signs in the moment.
Conjoining Algorab is Quasar 3C279, which lies exactly on the ecliptic plane, along the spinal column of the Virgin, its spinal placement again articulating the natural mechanism or neurology of subtle energy communication. Quasar 3C279 can stimulate imagery in the natural world that act as "messages through nature," which must be listened to and acted upon, as nature’s expression is the guidance itself.
Quasars (Quasi-Stellar-Radio-Source) were once thought to be the signatures of distant galactic clusters or enormous luminous galaxies at the edge of the known universe but are now recognized as "laser type stars" within our own galaxy. Quasars are not only visible objects, but they emit a wide band of photons (light particles) in the electromagnetic spectra, from the infrared up through human's visible range of light, through the ultra-violet (UV), the gamma rays range, and into the radio range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their multi-spectral emanations tend to stimulate an awareness that extends beyond or pierces our rather narrow band of visual perception, thereby offering new non-conforming possibilities of conceptual thought. They can express as images or non-conforming forms that can draw us into a transcendent perceptual exploration, which then motivates new behavior or a new expression fitting to our expanded awareness. In general, we might think of quasars as providing stimulus for alternative creative conception and expression.
The Hydra, in general, is of transcendent forces, those stirring at a sub-conscious level. Beta Hydra along with Xi were the Chinese "Tsing Kew" meaning "Green Hill" (Allen). Beta Hydra, conjoining Algorab of Corvus is of warnings regarding subtle forces that may lie hidden just below the surface of our conscious awareness, or just around the bend or over the hill along our paths. Here is where we find Corvus providing messages about such potential encounters, not only for our protection but also for the protection of any benevolent creatures of the natural world we might injure if we are not cautious and attentive. Beta Hydra invites to slow down and to be perceptive to our surroundings, to that which we do not yet see.
Thus the theme of this new Mars-Venus 317-day synodic cycle brings awareness to the importance of heart-centered and balanced creative action that is attuned to the natural world; action based upon the signs perceived from the world around us moment-by-moment--seems like good advice considering our current tumultuous ride and unpredictable experience over the months ahead.

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, the days leading into the Full Moon is an ideal time to work with the Pluto and Earth audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.
Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon produces a partial Lunar Eclipse. The Full Moon occurs on June 26 and exactly conjoins Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius. The Sun, Earth, Moon and Pluto align. This also means that Earth and Pluto begin a new 367-day synodic cycle as well. Thus the Full Moon theme and the new Earth-Pluto synodic cycle theme are one and the same. Any personal experiences or revelations surrounding this Full Moon Eclipse may have great significance throughout the year ahead.
Pluto is a freeing and opening force; a pattern disrupter and deprogrammer. Pluto is independent, individual, and autonomous; an extremist, isolationist and loner; a revolutionist, non-accepting of limiting conditions. Pluto tends to free us from antiquated behavioral patterns. For a younger immature soul, Pluto alignments can manifest in radically destructive ways. For an older mature soul, Pluto can be a valuable ally when worked with consciously. Pluto can bring up fears associated with the fear of survival, death and transformation; the gear to be alone, to let go, release or to let die. Pluto can also bring issues and patterns from early childhood.
Based upon Pluto's orbital parameters: Pluto's perihelion / aphelion axis clearly reveals Pluto's role regarding our entrapments in the human world and our responsibility to deal with the longer-term ramifications of our actions and life scenarios, our karma, extending beyond a mere lifetime. Pluto's nodal axis reveals Pluto's path of action (South Node to North Node) and how its force effects us on Earth, demanding we address how we co-participate and cooperate with humankind in our daily lives motivated from an all-embracing global vision. More about Pluto.
The Pluto-Full Moon Eclipse and the Earth-Pluto synod occur in Sagittarius, at the hand and bow of the Zen Archer. The Full Moon Pluto synod conjoins Polis, Mu Sag; Meridionalis, the hand of the Zen Archer; Kaus Aus, the southern star of the bow; Alpha Telescopium; and the SGR XR-4 Globular Cluster of stars in Sag. This is also the exalted sidereal location for Uranus.
The Swan Nebula M17 in Sagittarius
This object also often called the Omega Nebula or rarely the Horseshoe Nebula. This image is deep enough that the "swan-ness" of the nebula is lost in the convoluted turmoil of gas and dust. However if you squint at the screen, you will find that the brightest parts of the nebula make a convincing bird floating on the water with the head (dark area) on the left and the wings extending up and to the right. The body of the Swan is about twelve lightyears long, but that is only the brightest portion. There are fainter, irregular clumps of gas that stretch for forty lightyears or more.

This point in the ecliptic is about our Zen stance, how to hit the target of our ideals, aspirations and dreams, which is an all or nothing deal. Athletes know the principle of the Zen archer's bow well. To achieve one's goals, whether a golfer, pole-vaulter, billiards player, skier, archer, or martial artist, the stance or form one holds is essential. Only if the archer is firmly grounded and holding the bow as if it is an integrated part of the body, and with undaunted focus, will the arrow hit the target. Only will the skier be able to take on the most challenging of slopes if the skies are felt as extensions of one's legs, firmly and gracefully moving in concert with the entire body, with the skier's awareness merged with the environment through which he skies. Simply this can be called our Zen stance, a whole body / environmental awareness expressed from the core of our being.
Telescopium, underlying the centaur, reveals an additional facet of the Sagittarian theme, of having a Zen stance, and the stability and strength of the Zen Archer's bow. Telescopium articulates our long-range soul purpose seen with penetrating vision, which is common to the Zen Archer's approach in life. Alpha Telescopium suggests that we look past or through the distractions around us to focus in upon only the target of our highest ideals and dreams.
This Earth-Pluto 367-day cycle (as well as the next) brings attention to our need to refine our form, to get into a proper stance in life with inner stability, strength and confidence, to become one with our purpose in all aspects of our lives, and with undaunted focus and long-term vision. There is no helter-skelter approach here, only undaunted clarity within in the execution of our purpose and intent may we pass through the opening Pluto may provide--lest we will merely blow in the increasing and accelerating winds of change. The previous Earth-Pluto Synodic Cycle was presented in the June 22, 2009 Lunar Planner.

Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on June 30 in late sidereal Capricorn. The Moon nests between Nessus, Neptune and Chiron; and primarily conjoins Sadalsuud of Aquarius and Deneb Algedi of Caprocorn. Also of influence is Nashira of Capricorn; Beta Gruis; Kitalpha of Equuli; and Sadr of Cygnus with marks the cusp of sidereal Aquarius.
This is an expressive and articulate area of the zodiak, with gregarious and loquacious qualities. It is of libraries, courts, congresses, publishing houses, literary agencies, or where any legalities are formulated, agreed upon and concretized. Nashira is the bringer of good news, especially regarding legalities, business dealings, and constitutional matters, as well as sanctioned matters of the soul. Beta Gruis inspires the verbal expression of related wisdom, that of business and politics. As the stork, Gruis is carrier of bodies of knowledge, information, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. Prominent alignments with Beta Gruis and Nashira are exemplary of carriers of good tidings associated with legalities.
Sadalsuud of Aquarius is the luckiest in the kingdom or worldly affairs, and is said to embody the Fortune of the Fortunate. Sadalsuud, along with Deneb Algedi, produce genuinely wise, articulate, unique, and beneficent leadership.
Kitalpha is the alpha star of the little foal, Equuleus. According to R.H. Allen, some mythologists associate Equulei to Celeris, the brother of Pegasus, presented by Mercury to Castor; or Cyllarus, given to Pollux by Juno; or the creature struck by Neptune's trident when contesting with Minerva for superiority. Kitapha and the little foal bring a quality of lightness, swiftness and vigor to the communicative and fortuitous nature of the last few degrees of sidereal Capricorn.
The stars of the constellation of Aquarius overlap those of late sidereal Capricorn, which start to create the shift from the covert and personal interest of earlier Capricorn toward the expanded humanitarian interest we experience in Aquarius. This shift fully occurs under the auspices of Sadr, heart or breast of the Swan, and the Lace (Veil) Nebulas tend to obscure or color what is hidden and to be discovered behind the illusions of mundane consciousness. Here, upon the cusp of Capricorn / Aquarius we can no longer hide in the facades of personality consciousness and cloaks of mortal sexuality, but must shift to and function in the maturity of soul (trans-personality) consciousness. Hence, as we move into Aquarius, motivation shifts from egoic pursuit for our personal interest to that co-participant with soul colleagues for the betterment of all.
Overall, our Demonstrable Moon suggests a fortuitous opportunity regarding the concretized and formal expression of that which we have been working within this lunar cycle, assuming we have been taking the actions inspired earlier in this lunar cycle.
Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on July 4 in sidereal Pisces. The Moon conjoins Alderamin of Cepheus and the Quasar 3C9 in Pegaus. Also influencing are Algenib, the wing of Pegaus; the Garnet Star of Cepheus; and Alpheratz of Andromeda.
The stellar theme here is about denial of psychic emotional entrapment, whether our own or that of others. This is where, in the Story of the Royal Family, Queen Cassiopeia’s spiteful arrogant boosting of her daughter’s beauty to be greater than the Nereiads, the nymphs of the sea, led the gods to sentence the beautiful princess Andromeda to be chained to rocks by the sea to be devoured by Cetus the sea monster. Her father, King Cepheus, preoccupied with other matters, or perhaps in disgust of the whole matter, turns his head the other way.

This composite image is a product of combining data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope's multiband imaging photometer and the infrared array camera. The thermal emission at 24 microns measured by the photometer (red) is combined with near-infrared emission from the camera at 3.6/4.5 microns (blue) and from 5.8/8.0 microns (green). The colors of the diffuse emission and filaments vary, and are a combination of molecular hydrogen (which tends to be green) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (brown) emissions.

Andromeda is the exquisite beauty destined for human unfoldment, but which is held in bondage due the psychic emotional forces in which she finds herself. Innocent Andromeda is naïve to and caught in the psychic power plays of others. Cassiopeia is queen of pride and arrogance and Cepheus king of denial, although they also have their benevolent sides. Cetus embodies the psycho-emotional entanglement of the dramatic and fear-based technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness.
Perseus, Andromeda's beloved, claims Pegasus, the magical flying horse, after slaying Medusa to fly above Cetus and free Andromeda. The initiations of Perseus and allegiance with Pegasus articulate his personal refinement and subsequent ability to rise above the human genetic patterns of weakness and the psycho-emotional dramatics of the human world. Pegasus embodies the principle of the Merkabah, the embodiment of soul essence fully into the physical body and the subsequent illumination of self--Perseus' body of light.
Algenib, the wing of Pegasus, and the associated quasar bring inspiration to lift our selves from any psychic-emotional entrapments. Quasar 3C9 specifically invites us to follow whatever intuitive impulses or flashes of insight we may perceive that can lift us above the Earthian dramatics around us so we can manifest our greater soul purpose and attain our evolutionary freedom.
Most people naturally tend to notice the bright stars of Cepheus when looking into the heavens (in the fall and winter), but the Garnet Star of Cepheus is often missed--a beauty, especially through binoculars. Similarly, we miss seeing the opportunity for attainment when only watching the obvious around us. The Garnet Star, Mu Cephei, is a Red Supergiant. If in place of our Sun, it would extend out to between the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn.
Thus our inner need to change may inspire us to address these types of issues and to extricate ourselves from any such psychic-emotional entrapping situations--rather than to remain in denial of them.
Uranus stations to begin its retrograde on July 5, 2010. Uranus and Saturn no approach the fifth and final opposition, which will occur just after the following Full Moon. However, we will now start to experience the squeeze leading into their final opposition, just as we are now starting to experience entry into the first Jupiter-Pluto Square, which occurs at the same time. Both of these events feed into the Great Jupiter-Pluto-Saturn T-square occurring in August 2010--hence the intensification. This can be seen graphically in the 2010 Graphic Ephemeris.
Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon & the Pleiades

The Balsamic Moon of July 8 occurs in early sidereal Taurus and conjoins the Pleiades, the small but famous asterism of stars in early sidereal Taurus, Atik, part of the foot of Perseus, and Mirphak, the Alpha star of our Hero. Also conjoining is the southern Quasar 3C110 in Eridanus, encountered along the River of Life. This should be a beautiful Balsamic Moon just before Sunrise of July 8, as the Moon is just north of the ecliptic at the same latitude as the Pleiades. The crescent of the Moon will lie just below the Seven Sisters.
The Pleiades impart an initiating quality, that of seeding, of getting things going, of initiating action in the physical and business world specifically to manifest the "Vision of Aldebaran"--the establishment of the administrative and physical logistics that support our personal lives. In classical astrology, certain alignments with the Pleiades can indicate catastrophic events or blunderings--a part of the nebulosity surrounding the Pleiades obscuring vision, and the nature of involvement in the Earthian world.
In galactic mythical imagery, Alcyone of the Pleiades, at ~5° sidereal Taurus (which is square to Regulus and in aspect to Earth's precessional Holy Cross), is administrative seat for a group of incarnate starseeds on Earth who, in order to graduate into the "Office of the Christos" (from Crestos to Christos / into soul awareness), are responsible for the seeding of the Vision of Aldebaran. This is to demonstrate responsible aid supporting Earthian souls though a monumental evolutionary transition, the Erection of the Holy Cross; i.e., helping to establish the Christos (soul-level consciousness) in a regenerated world, and in so doing they do it for themselves. The fall of the starseeds from having awareness of the vision upon which they were sanctioned to Earth is articulated by the journey through the first half of sidereal Taurus, specifically through the Hyades asterism. The Hyades lie between the Pleiades and Aldebaran, not only in ecliptical longitude, but also in distance (Alcyone is ~450 light-years from Earth, the Hyades ~150 light-years, & Aldebaran ~68 light-years). As the journey goes from Alcyone to Aldebaran, Hyades (Hell) represents the diversionary fall of the starseeds: having become lost in the carnal lure and incarnational dilemma itself--all leading to a genetic mess: perpetuating genetic weakness: degeneration, death, and rebirth into the human evolutionary stream--although perhaps part the plan to start with. In this process, the emissaries lost the Vision of which they were to manifest, faced instead with a sobering reawakening that they got stuck in the mud and must now find their way out, let alone remembering their original covenant with their soul families and accomplishing their greater soul mission. In this stellar mythos, alignments to Hyades are indicative of those who forgot their greater soul heritage and purpose, who carry issues of having been lured and lost in human involvement, lost in Hell, and resultantly confused about their true self identity. In Hyades, one can be extremely slow to change or act, sometimes only when it is too late, or when the door of opportunity literally has passed.
Mirphak, a fortuitous star, considered the elbow of Perseus, embodies the totality and success of all that our hero Perseus embodies. Mirphak inspires responsible action to claim the true gift from the inner refinement we have gained through our past initiatory fires. Here we must acknowledge that our trials had to precede stepping forth into a greater fulfillment and our future destiny.
Conjoining Mirphak is the right foot of Perseus (created by Atik, Omi Perseus; Zeta Perseus; and the intense neutron star, XPerseus). Zeta and X-Perseus brings a powerful capacity to infuse the spiritual power gained from our initiations in life and to manifest our longer-term purpose and destiny in the physical world. This point in the ecliptic inspires bold and dynamic physical action.
Also adding to this theme is Quasar 3C110 of Eridanus, the River of Life. Eridanus is of the soul's evolutionary journey through incarnate life. Eridanus is a very long constellation, starting at the star Kursa, which lies near enterprising Rigel of Orion (in late sidereal Taurus), and winds its way from Orion, backward in the ecliptic (east to west), through Aries where it reversing direction twice, then continues into Pisces and completes its journey in sidereal Aquarius at the star Achernar, the river's end. The stars of Eridanus reveal the nature of the trials and rewards the incarnating soul encounters throughout life’s winding and initiatory sojourn.
Quasar 3C110 of Eridanus, conjoining Mirphak and the foot of Perseus, inspires the creativity to remold what may have been a physical barrier into the very means to accomplish our greater purpose.
The Pleiades Balsamic Moon is sextile (60°) to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction--an aspect of strength and allegiance--supportive of the Jupiter-Uranus energetic--the mobilization and expansion of radical change.
Thus, the seed coalesces for this lunar cycle, which will sprout anew in the following cycle. Our next New Moon occurs on July 11, 2010 in late sidereal Gemini, conjoining Castor of the Twins. More to come then.
