Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
The New Moon of January 4 begins the first lunar cycle of 2011. It produces a Partial Solar Eclipse in sidereal Sagittarius, visible in Europe, North Africa and Central Asia. Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave in the lunar spiral of growth. They offer a time to resynchronize ourselves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness. Eclipses generally express for six month periods. Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play, or how we articulate ourselves in the world. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression. They often mark a new beginning or way of life, or a new way of participating in life. This Solar eclipse is counter part to the previous Solstice Total Lunar Eclipse, which was about letting go of emotional attachments to ways of participating in the world or with others that no longer server us. This solar eclipse is more about going forward from attachments left behind, with a new sense of self to pursue our ideals, dreams and goals.
The theme of this lunar cycle is defined by the stars: Ascella and Nunki of Sagittarius; Alphecca Meridiana of the Southern Crown; Beta Scutum of the Galactic Shield; and of significant influence is Vega, the Harp Star of Lyra.
Sagittarius is stargate to Galactic Center, commonly referred to as the Zen Archer, or the First Horseman whose arrow points toward Galactic Center. From R. H. Allen (Star Names): Sagittarius is "the Strong One, and Illuminator of the Great City (galactic center); Light of the White Face; and on the stones of Sippara (the Sepharvaim of the Old Testament)--a solar city Sagittarius, 'appears sculptured in full glory.'"
The First Horseman, our Sagittarian Centaur, is where the first and highest spiritual light is found, our Galactic City of Light, and is responsible for the higher spiritual education of all intelligent life on Earth. Overhead is the constellation Scutum, Galactic shield of Earth's precessional Holy Cross, which is emblazoned with the symbol of Earth's Precessional Cross. Sagittarius is supreme defender of the High Truth of the Holy Cross--of the spiritual fulfillment of humankind--one who is willing to live, fight, and die for this Truth.
Sagittarius is the Spiritual Warrior. On a personal level, Sagittarius inspires action to live our deeper inner truths, to express that truth through an undaunted Zen focus to hit our target, to achieve our highest ideals and dreams. The Sagittarian Archer is self-taught, of spiritual wisdom gained through raw experience. Sagittarius is the sanguine inspirationalist, of lofty vision and higher ideals. This Lunar Cycle embodies the pure and total potential of the archer applied through focused demonstrable action.
A primary shift occurs in this lunar cycle as the very tight aspects between Jupiter, Uranus, Makemake, Neptune and Chiron now start to diverge, creating a refreshing sense of emergence from what has been a rather heavy period that began in mid-2008, and which had spawned the last few years of financial upheaval.
Jupiter and Uranus make their third and final conjunction opposite Juno, asteroid of covenant partnerships, and Makemake, one of our recently discovered planets. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction marks the mobilization and expansion of opportunity for those willing to make radical or spontaneous change. Juno's retrograde conjoining Makemake may herald a change in partnerships, especially involving financial matters and their management.
Venus and Juno also begin a new several-month synodic cycle in fiery sidereal Leo and under the auspices of Alioth of the Great Bear--birthing a dynamic new cycle of action for personal relationships and financial partnerships.
These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more, the underlying cycles upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.
"The stars would not be in the heavens if we were meant to walk in darkness."
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

New Moon Phase Characteristics
Our January 4, 2011 New Moon Eclipse in sidereal Sagittarius conjoins Ascella and Nunki of Sagittarius; Meridiana, Beta and Gamma of Corona Australis, the principal stars forming the Southern Crown; Beta Scutum; and Vega of Lyra.
Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play, or how we articulate ourselves in the world. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression. They often mark a new beginning or way of life, or new way of participating in life.
This Solar eclipse is counter part to the previous Total Lunar Eclipse in which occurred on the Gate of Man of Earth Precessional Cross on the solstice. It, having occurred on the Lunar South Node, was about letting go of emotional attachments to ways of participating in the world or with others. This solar eclipse is more about going forward from attachments left behind, with a new sense of self to pursue our ideals, dreams and goals.

Nunki, Sigma Sag, (and Phi of Sagittarius at the Archer's hand), marks the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted focus, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to direct the Zen Archer's arrow.
Ascella, Zeta Sagittarius, is a binary star system, and is the third brightest star in Sagittarius. Although, traditionally meaning the armpit, or more succinctly, the junction of the archer's shoulder and the outstretched arm holding the bow, along which the archer takes aim, Ascella lies more so at the breast or heart of the Centaur, slightly south of Nunki. The two stars are about one degree in ecliptical longitude, thus tightly conjoined. Ascella embodies the heart of the Zen Archer, not the physical heart, but the Archer's power of intent--the truth within from which he lives.
Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transfered into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articuates the combined qualites of vision and high ideals with the inherent force and power applied with undaunted focus to achieve our ideals and visions. Note that there must be movement / velocity for the fletching of an arrow (Nunki) to steer its course. Thus we must not only access our intent of purpose, but we must move it, apply it with focused deliberation through conscious action from a place of stability and confidence to transform our intent of purpose into the manifestation of our greater ideals and visions.
Several star qualities amalgamate around the Zen Archer's hand holding the taunt arrow: Nunki (Sigma), Phi, Ascella (Zeta), Tau, Nu, and Xi of Sagittarius. This is the warrior's core energy in its full potential, drawn and ready to release, provoking action that is life supportive--hence the spiritual warrior. This location marks the central vertical golden essence of the Archer, a point of equipoise and balance. It is where we align all of the light fibers of our being into a coherent whole and focus that totality in controlled action.
Ascella and Nunki conjoin Alphecca Meridiana (Alpha), Beta and Gamma of Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, which is composed of a semi-circle of stars that lies just under the Zen Archer. "Hipparchos new (Corona Australis) as the Caduceus of Hermes (the Egyptian Thoth)--(a staff entwined by two serpents topped with with gold wings); or Herald's Wand of Peace (from the Greek karykeion); and Ptolemy simply saw it as the Southern Wreath; as it was also illustrated by Bayer. It was illustrated as a plain heart-shaped object in the Alfonsine Tables. It has also been referred to as the Crown of Sagittarius (Corona Sagittarii), originating from the outspreading sun's rays in crown like form shown around the Gandharvas, the Aryan celestial horses that are suggested to be the forerunners to the Centaurs." (Allen). The Gandharvas were all male and the mates of the all female Apsaras, both of a pure unadulterated nature. The Apsaras were akin to beautiful water or forest nymphs, and the Gandharvas were ethereal beings of the air, forests, and mountains known for their musical and mystical skills and skill with the forces of nature. The Gandharvas were also stewards of Soma, the golden nectar or ambrosia of the gods. Thoth / Heremes is also associated with conjoining Lyra, Harp of the Angels, which embodies the artsciences of light, sound and geometry.
Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, underlying and protected by the Archer, embodies the wisdom of alchemy--of using natural forces to manifest a higher order or achieve a higher purpose, ideal or goal. This is an alchemical process; one initiated by evocation. A caduceus in physics uses two polarities or energetic fields in such a way that they cancel each other (how a caduceus coil is wound), which in essence opens a zero-point portal in space and time. This is the wisdom of the Centaurian Archer who establishes the caduceus within--the ballanced cancelation of polarity within self which activates the entwined spiritual currents (kundalini) up the spine, which in turn illuminates the pineal in the brain. This opens the perfect path in space through which the archer's arrow hits its target of unified consciousness (galactic awareness). With additional mastery, one can use the illumined pineal as a portal through which one can travel, transcending space and time.
There are three main neurological energy conduits running along the spine, originating from the base of the spine (base chakra). Two energy pathways spiral in opposite directions along the central conduit--creating a natural caduceus. They culminate at the pineal of the brain (third eye). The left originating conduit links the left side of the body and the brain's right hemisphere. It is more passive/receptive in nature. The right originating conduit links the right side of the body and the brain's left hemisphere. It is more active/expressive in nature. In a healthy person, these two energy flows oscillate in a natural rhythm. When our life force is flowing in balance in these outer two conduits, we are in neurological balance, with the right and left hemispheres of the brain working in harmony. When out of balance, we are dominated by either the right or left hemispheres of the brain, with their associated out of balance psycho-physiological conditions. Balancing this energy flow can be accomplished in many ways, one common way is with controlled breathing techniques, or though other meditative techniques.
When we establish an unimpeded and balanced energetic flow in these two outer energy channels simultaneously (which also results in synchronized brain-wave patterns), they begin to open an energy flow in the central conduit of the caduceus. The flow of energy upward through this channel results in a process of opening the chakras from the base to the crown; and it requires clearing these chakras in the process; that is, we must address any issues or crystallization's that may impede this flow, hence a healing process--not a simple exercise that catalyses an instant change. This is the awakening of the personality. There are many ways to facilitate this process: healthy living; physical / emotional clearing / meditation, etc.
At some point this can ignite in what is commonly called a kundalini release rising from the base of the spine through this central channel. This flow extends up through the crown chakra; opening the crown chakra to soul essence--articulated by the open wings on top of the staff of Hermes. A kundalini release can feel like a burning fire-like torch blowing up the spine. It can be extremely transmutational at the cellular level, and illuminating in quality. Balancing the flow in our spinal caduceus, opening the flow of life force in the central channel, opens the physical vessel to be receptive to the descent of the dove; that is, the decent and subsequent integration of soul essence down through the caduceus and through each of the chakras--the following stages in our awakening process and journey into galactic / unified-field awareness.
Often time, when the crown first opens, people experience a new found level of awareness along with an ability to commune with intelligences out-side of self. The important point here is that the link to soul awareness has been established, and it is not the intent to continue to go up and out of the body, but to now bring soul awareness downward into the body, down through the chakras, which requires another level of chakra clearing, but in reverse order--more so dealing with soul-level, rather than personality level issues or crystalizations. Working with this reversal process is important in our lives and in any meditative disciplines we may employ, or one tends to become ungrounded, going further and further outside of self for guidance and feeling more and more separate, rather than becoming more soul-infused and living from their own integrated wisdom. Once we ground our greater soul awareness in and through self, we can explore deeper levels of consciousness and continue to expand our wisdom by going inward into our infinite and unbounded selves; and we continue to radiate and express more of that cosmic consciousness in our lives. The caduceus is the vessel through which we can enter into deeper and deeper realms of our cosmic consciousness--into the zero point of love. It is this that the Zen Archer articulates.
North of the Southern Crown, and above the Zen Archer, is Scutum, the Galactic Shield of the Holy Cross, which articulates that which the Zen Archer lives and is willing to die for--the greater spiritual truth about the evolutionary cycle of the soul--to ensure the evolutionary fulfillment of the soul.
This is also the current ecliptical longitude of one of the two Celestial Equatorial / Galactic Equatorial nodes. (This is where Earth's equator crosses the galactic plane. (These nodes move with Earth's precession.) Nodes, or the nodal axes, of interacting spherical astronomical systems are where energy translates from one system to another: in this case, where galactic awareness becomes directly accessible by Earth-plane consciousness. this produces a very lucid point in the ecliptic.
Our New Moon lunar theme is about steering our intent and of applied power in action. It is about applying our intent in action with conscious and focused deliberation to move through our perceived bounds of limitation to achieve our greater goals and ideals. It also articulates our capacity to open our perceptual ability to see beyond the illusory bounds of the solidified world, to see the world as light, and to fluidly emerge into the multiplicity of opportunity available to us, articulated by conjoining Vega, the Harp Star. Our New Moon may also inspire artistic creativity, especially in the areas of multi-media supporting the expansion of consciousness and our greater freedom of being--artuclated by nothern Lyra--Harp of the Angels.
The stars of Lyra embody various facets of the artsciences of harmonics in light, sound, color, and geometry--particularly the wisdom of the artsciences. They are of vision, creativity, and inspire all that is of multi-media, the arts, and higher education.
Lyra, and prominent alignments with Lyra, often indicate involvement with the music of the spheres, that is, the use of natural astronomically and resonant harmonics for healing, illumination, and for greater evolutionary purpose. Prominent alignments and aspects to Lyra are often found in musicians, artists and those involved with art-sciences and multi-media projects--those with intent to use those art-sciences for the expansion of consciousness. Lyra is not just of the mathematical artsciences of natural harmonics in light and sound, but also of their application unfolding in geometry and time--all working intelligently together. Forty octaves up from our middle musical scale lies the spectrum of visible color--light-sound musical harmonics originate from the mathematical unfoldment of time in geometric proportion. To learn more of light-sound musical harmonics see the Harmonics web page.
Vega, Alpha Lyra, the Harp-Star, is stargate to Mansion Universes of Light where a multiplicity of possibilities and opportunities coexist. Vega embodies the essence of angelic Lyra; the spiritual and visionary art of the angels, or angles--meaning the harmonics of light, sound, and geometry applied in sacred proportion through which Divine Intelligence communicates. Fortuitous Vega offers many potential doorways for fulfillment; especially related to paths pursued in the art-sciences applied for healing and personal evolution. Esoterically,Vega is where the unifying harmonic spectral messages of the Elohim culminate--providing a new home of solace for some upon the completion of their galactic journeys. Lyra and Vega provide visionary inspiration; and articulate the lofty ideals held by the Zen Archer. More about the Lyre, its myth and its stars.
Conjoining Vega is Arkab, Beta Sagittarius, inspiring "action on our greater spiritual truth" in the application of harmony in time and spatial proportion, a truth upheld and fought for by the Zen Archer.
Jupiter - NASA's Cassini spacecraft
Jupiter and Uranus make their final conjunction on the New Moon, adding to the theme of this lunar cycle. Jupiter produces a mobilizing and expansive force. It stimulates fluidity in movement, vitality and enthusiasm; and is of reciprocity--how we express our gifts to the world. Jupiter expresses in openness and willingness to touch, palpate and embrace life, people and experience. It imparts a kinesthetic and magnetic quality; and motivates us to aspire for something larger in our lives, beyond our current bounds. More about Jupiter, Jupiter Cycles, Jupiter Mandalas, and Jupiter's Moons.
Uranus, in its clear and evolved expression, brings the ability to spontaneously change and to create new frontiers in experience and consciousness. It is the true pioneer, uninhibited by convention and establishment (Saturn). Uranus inspires the expression of our unique individuality in radical confidence. Uranus instills a future-orientation and humanitarian focus; and embodies quickness and alertness of consciousness often producing a lightning-like creative mind when prominently aspected. Uranus provides an ability to work with higher orders and principles--providing a higher-mind prowess for telepathy and all super-consciousness functions and mechanisms. Uranus instills an appreciation of excellence and perfection. It is the applier of the higher sciences and inspires new discoveries in technology and consciousness.
The synthesis of Jupiter and Uranus, in general, produces a quickening and expansion of radical or unexpected change--generally in a beneficent way, one that mobilizes movement into the future. It produces expansive forward thinking, impetus to move and to travel--inspiring us to spread our wings and fly. It inspires new possibilities and alternative solutions; and movement into new and vast realms of consciousness.
Jupiter and Uranus began their (geocentric) conjunction in June of 2010. During that time and now, on the September 23, 2010 Full Moon, a new Jupiter-Uranus 13.5-year synodic cycle began. This final conjunction occurring now (January 2011) marks the full engagement of that new synodic cycle, which will continue into 2024. The theme of this new cycle is defined by the stars of the wet, sensual, emotional, psychic and amorphous world of sidereal Pisces.
This area of Pisces is about the emotional and psychic world, that which is emotionally palpable, our origins and our commonality. It is about reuniting our spiritual nature with our primordial origins. It also brings special emphasis to water and all related water issues. It is about how we are using our life force and all fluids in life; the refinement of self, and rising above the psychic-emotional entrapments common to collective human consciousness. Jupiter is at home in Pisces, thus strengthened in its mobilizing and expansive role.
The Jupiter-Uranus synthesis in this area of Pisces can stimulate our desire for greater emotional freedom; to break free from any limiting psychic bounds we may have placed upon ourselves. It can produce the impetus for radical inner transformation, to make changes in our lives from the inside out. The years ahead may also result in new discoveries and technologies associated with water and the more psychic or etheric realms of life; including extrasensory processes such as telepathy, etheric energy healing, etc. The Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle was presented in the September 8, 2010 Lunar Planner.
Jupiter and Uranus will also make their final oppositions to recently discovered Makemake in this lunar cycle. Makemake is pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh. The exact Jupiter-Makemake opposition occurs just after the crescent Moon and the exact Uranus-Makemake opposition occurs just after the Disseminating Moon. This completes the long standing Uranus-Makemake opposition that began in late 2008 and associated longer-term planetary aspects--all presented in The 2008-2011 Timeline.
The Uranus-Makemake opposition began in 2008 with Makemake in the last few degrees of sidereal Leo--a theme of diversionary smokescreens and coverups inherent to world powers, big business, etc. Since then, Makemake has moved across the Leo-Virgo cusp into the first few degrees of sidereal Virgo. It is now beginning to move out from under the auspices of Benatnash and Zavijava (totalitarian powers and their blind followers) into purer and more integrous energies that begin to express in Virgo. The fraud and manipulation exposures in the global financial arena (forced bank takeovers, closures, housing loans, etc.) over the last few years may have well been due to the long-standing Uranus-Makemake opposition. If Makemake influences the administration and administrators of resources, as I suggest may be the case based on initial explorations of Makemake and as presented in the The 2008-2011 Timeline, we may now begin to see the results of this exposure in the form of rightful change of such administrative forces as we move into 2011. More about Makemake.

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, the first few days surrounding the New Moon is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter Uranus audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon of January 8 resides in early sidereal Aquarius, a few degrees past Neptune and Chiron. The Moon conjoins Sadalmelik of Aquarius and Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis.
Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer, nourishes the body of humanity, articulated by Pisces Australis and the star Fomalhaut (which conjoins Deneb of Cygnus, also Sadalmelik of Aquarius and Enif of Pegasus). One of the "Four Royal Architects," Fomalhaut is the administrative seat of the aquatic quadrant of the heavens. Fortuitous Fomalhaut embodies the essence of sidereal Aquarius--inspiring future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society and the essence of philanthropy. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. It is of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition.
The word 'social' is derived from the Old French or the Latin 'socialis', meaning 'allied', or from 'socius' meaning 'friend'-- good words to describe the essence of Fomalhaut and Aquarius. Here all are recognized as allied friends, as one human family.
Sadalmelik, Alpha Aquarius, is the "lucky one of the kingdom." Sadalmelik creates an air of recognition and acceptance in the kingdom of human affairs--especially for those involved in the arts and sciences. Sadalmelik brings fortuitous opportunity for those with humanitarian interest, and who are in those arenas where such interest can be expressed. Ancha, Theta Aquarius, just below Sadalmelik is the waterbearer's talisman on his belt or thigh and articulates this fortuitous capacity for fulfillment.
Our Aquarian Crescent Moon turns our lunar theme toward a future oriented humanitarian focus. It is opportunistic and supports creative ideas and actions that serve and nourish our greater human family.
Several events occur from the Crescent Moon leading into the First Quarter Moon: Jupiter makes its exact opposition with Makemake, and Eris stations completing its retrograde, both just hours after the Crescent Moon. The Moon then conjoins the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction on January 8; and then the Moon conjoins Eris on its First Quarter. All of this brings emphasis to the underlying Jupiter-Uranus-Makemake theme--the mobilization and expansion of radical change; especially regarding the administration of resources in partnerships
First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on January 12 in late sidereal Pisces exactly conjoining Eris. the Moon and Eris conjoins Baten Kaitos of Cetus; Acamar and the Quasar 3C57 of Eridanus; Revati of Pisces; and Al Kurah Xi Cepheus. This is also the exalted location for Venus.
NASA Artist's impression of Eris and her moon Dysnomia
Eris is the main object, Dysnomia the smaller disk just above it. The object top-left is the Sun.
Eris (pronounced "ee-ris"), the great disruptor, was discovered in Cetus, the Technobureaucratic Monster of Collective Human Consciousness (sidereal Pisces) in January of 2005. Eris has an extreme orbital inclination (44°) as well as a greater eccentric orbit compared to Pluto, almost twice as long as it is wide co. Eris' extreme eccentric orbit swings inside the orbit of Pluto, much like Pluto's orbit swings inside Neptune's. Eris is slower moving than Pluto. Eris's year is equivalent to 560 Earth years, whereas Pluto's is about 248. All of this suggests that Eris may cut through our consciousness in an even sharper, more intense and dramatic way than Pluto, but in a longer process. Eris was responsible for the formation of the new "Dwarf Planet" classification and the reclassification of Pluto--which caused quite an commotion in both the astronomical and astrological communities--upsetting the apple cart, to use a common phrase. Eris's extreme eccentric orbit and its steep orbital inclination is our first clue to Eris' rather radical and intercedeing nature.
Although the discovery of Eris created disorder at first, a new order followed with the new classification of Dwarf Planets (fitting to the theme of Eris' other daughter Eunomia, who ends strife). This is significant when considering Eris' astrological character. Eris dismantled limiting conceptual boundaries to open us to a more embracing cosmology. Thus, Eris opens or expands consciousness by upsetting existing, limiting and antiquated structures of consciousness. More about Eris and her Moons.
Cetus, the technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, is the whale of human emotional experience. Baten Kaitos is the belly of ole' Cetus. South of Baten Kaitos is Fornax (the furnace), which provides the perpetual fire (digestive juices) for our transmutation while participating in the belly of ole' Cetus--in the wet, sensual, and emotional world of human affairs. Alignments with Baten Kaitos can indicate the need to embrace the emotional aspects of mortal life and to emerge in transmuted form. The value here is to be able to participate from the wisdom of having been there, and to claim the potential rewards, the abundance that life has to offer in all of its forms. Here lies the theme expressed in the story of Jonah and the Whale.
Quasar 3C57 of Cetus lies about 2° south of and conjoins Baten Kaitos. Quasar 3C57 can manifest as rather odd experiences, those that can twist or contort us, but that act as catalyst for our emotional metamorphosis, to help us see our struggles from a different perspective.
Lying above Baten Kaitos and Cetus lies Revati, Zeta Pisces. Revati literally means riches, money, wealth, and financial resources. Prominent alignments with Revati can indicate material wealth gained from participating in the dramatic psycho-emotional world of human affairs--where the bucks are. This zodiakal longitude is also the exalted location for Venus--bringing attention to the relation of the flow of abundance and living from the heart. It also reveals why Venus is prominently involved in financial matters; as seen in economic astrological forcasting.
Acamar of Eridanus is one of many stopping points along the long and winding river of life. Acamar is like a dam, and indicates that emergence from the belly of Cetus requires a breakthrough that will lead us from the foul digestive juices of Cetus and into a greater freedom of being. Alignments here can fool us into thinking the forging we have just gone through marks the end of our journey, when in fact it indicates the need for physical and emotional clearing; to purge any toxins we may have accumulated through the last leg our journeys. Denial of the need for such clearing merely intensifies the struggle to move onward.
Eris, a very slow mover, has been conjoining Revati and Baten Kaitos for some time. Eris is now moving more in alignment with Baten Kaitos from its alignment with Revati. See "Eris and the Global Economic Crisis."
Our Eris First Quarter Moon may produce disrupting events (perhaps of an emotional nature surrounding resources) that serve as this lunar cycle's stimulus to action. The nature of our "external stimulus to action" and events, both personal and global, occurring on this First Quarter Moon, may provide a good opportunity to gain more insight into Eris' astrological nature.
Venus, Juno and the Sun align on January 13, 2011, starting a new Venus-Juno synodic cycle in mid sidereal Leo--always significant for personal relationships and financial partnerships. This cycle continues through September of 2011. The Venus-Juno synod conjoins Alioth and the Seyfert Galaxy NGC4051 of Ursa Major; and Beta Sextans.
Juno, goddess of love, is the asteroid of covenant relationships, soul colleagues, true lovers, and mutual compatibility. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts: those that are of a personal nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one's life. There is an acceptance of another's truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses self-confidence in humbleness and without defense.
Some Juno issues express as superiority / inferiority complexes; competitiveness, defensiveness, lack of self confidence, arrogance and judgment and manipulation of others; power struggles jealousy and possessiveness. More about Juno.
Venus is of intuitive knowing, harmony, and love. Venus governs the Heart -Thymus chakra, the latter which is reflexed to the spleen--both governing the immune system.
Venus in its mature expression is the wide open heart, one open to new and all experience, able to receive and express love in unconditional acceptance and without judgment. Venus is balanced, courageous, optimistic, sociable, fashionable, artistic, good willed, benevolent, magnetic, intimate, sensual, erotic, and of rapture. Mature Venus expresses in appreciation of beauty, art. Venus is abundant and of financial matters. Venus is of the lungs, breast and breathing--the ability to breathe in life in its fullness.
Venus issues tend to express as fears and phobias--breathing, allergies, and catarrhal problems. There is inability to integrate and accept experience and to receive or give love--sunken chest and shallow breath. Venus and thymus immune disorders are fear related and thus express as judgment of others, of beauty, abundance, luxury and intimacy. More about Venus.
The potent seyfert galaxy NGC 4051 conjoining Alioth in Ursa Major. Image Credit: George Seitz/Adam Block/NOAO/AURA/NSF
Alioth is of personal will and the application of it. As one of the seven rays of the Big Bear and of the world powers, Alioth teaches us to responsibly use personal will to effect our courses in life. Alioth also teaches us about the forceful use of will and ramifications of it. Alioth teaches us that our personal actions alter the evolutionary currents that create our souls' evolutionary destiny. Alioth stimulates the use of personal will and our need to initiate personal action. The adjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4051 adds a potent underlying force driving dynamic action. Thus, Alioth can express as forceful and manipulative use of power merely for personal gain, or when mastered, it can express as personal will attuned to Divine Will in phenomenal accomplishment that responsibly steers our evolutionary course. Conjoining Thuban or Draco indicates long established currents and patterns, while Vela X-1, a potent neutron star on the sail of the Argo, creates a relentless drive to apply personal will to affect long-term evolutionary change. In doing so, we learn to become responsible in helping to steer our evolutionary outcome.
The Sextant is about navigation. It reveals our need to determine our present position / situation, to set our bearings, and to take a new tack toward the direction we wish to move with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.
This new Venus-Juno cycle requires a need to redefine the direction and paths our relationships are taking due to changing winds and currents. Much like sailing, changing winds require the application of personal will to change the boat's tack to continue toward our longer-term destination. Without taking action to make directional changes, we capsize. This requires the assessment of our current position and heading, and of the changing conditions around us--the weather, waves, winds and currents--to responsibly set a new tack along our journeys in life.
The Sun moves into sidereal Capricorn on January 15, 2011--called the Capsolar Ingress.
Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
The Gibbous Moon occurs on January 16 in mid-sidereal Taurus conjoining Aldebaran of Taurus; and the stars forming the Shield of Orion.
Aldebaran, Eye of the Bull, is one of the "Four Royal Architects" bringing order to the heavens. Directly opposite Aldebaran is Antares, Heart of the Scorpion. Both of these stars mark the centers of their respective signs. The other Royals are Regulus of Leo, Heart of the Lion (Leo), the law-giver; and humanitarian Fomalhaut in sidereal Aquarius. Aldebaran, the "Bull's Eye," means the mathematical center. Aldebaran (and its counter part Antares) was the primary fiducial (reference point) for the Babylonian zodiak. Aldebaran and Sidereal Taurus is the primogeniture of the zodiak, the Earth sign from which life springs.
Aldebaran holds the vision for global leaders and world servers inspiring the administrative planning of world affairs, specifically for physical logistics and a global infrastructure designed to support humanity through evolutionary unfoldment and global change. Prominent alignments with the Aldebaran / Antares axis can express into the business and political arenas and is of their leaders.
At a personal level, Aldebaran is of business and the home, of vision and action for our physical wellbeing. Aldebaran indicates involvement with physical places, abodes, and projects supportive of our modalities of living. Aldebaran also inspires businesses that support our family and friends. Aldebaran inspires us to take the physical action required to manifest our visions in the physical world. It is a star of leadership, initiative and physical action.
Just past Aldebaran in ecliptical longitude and also conjoining is Tabit of Orion and several other minor stars forming the Shield of Orion.
Both Aldebaran and the Shield bring attention to the physical infrastructures supporting our lives. The theme of the Shield is one of providing protection in the world of human affairs, especially of establishing a protective environment when starting new ventures or projects. Associated with the essence of Aldebaran, this is in regard to our physical abodes and daily sustenance, of taking care of and being taken care of. The Shield is also of endurance and victory in this pursuit.
Our Gibbous Moon, again emphasizes the theme of dynamic action in our physical lives, adding to our New Moon Zen Archer theme of high vision and ideals applied with undaunted aim through bold action.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.
Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
The Full Moon occurs on January 19 in early sidereal Cancer. An hour before the Full Moon, Juno begins its retrograde in early sidereal Virgo. Juno, opposite Jupiter, is sextile to the Moon, and trine to the Sun (Moon trine Jupiter); and also aspecting Chiron--thus significantly adding to our Full Moon stimulus--again bringing emphasis to a redefinition of partnerships. Juno's retrograde begins a shifting gears period in partnerships, during which a new Earth-Juno synodic cycle will begin (in mid-March 2011). Juno will complete its retrograde in early May, at which time, the shifts being made in relationships now through then will fully engage. Juno and Jupiter make their exact opposition just after the Full Moon.
The Full Moon conjoins Samoht, Alpha Monoceros; Aludra of Canis Major; Alsciaukat of the Lynx; and the Irregular Galaxy M82 in Ursa Major. This is also the location of the Centaur Pholus' North Node.
The outstretched Lynx, or mountain cat, lies just north of sidereal Cancer. The boundaries of the Lynx are obscure, as are its stars, appropriately as the Lynx merges between seen and unseen worlds--capable of transiting the bridge between the two realms. The Lynx is known for its extraordinarily effortless ability to quietly move through the physical world, and to see without being seen or without physically looking, as in remote viewing. The Lynx is of intuition and of secrets shared or revealed. It is symbolic of the ability to see the hidden mystery and secrets of life; to see the spirit moving or expressing through matter. To have this perceptive and sensitive ability is to see where doorways become accessible in what otherwise may seem to be just a repetitive and mundane world.
Alsciaukat specifically asks one to not be deluded by what is or is not happening at the apparent level or in what things look like on the surface, but to intimately trust while being in "forever alertness"--for it is a matter of spacetiming in which doorways coincide between the physical time dependent light realms and the non-physical realms governed by superluminal forces of nature.
Theses portals are where synchronistic and truly magikal opportunities spontaneously appear that allow us opportunity to transcend the separation of space and time and its logistical process to a higher order of experience. Living in the present, in forever alertness, is the key to shift our vibrational mode to experience an entirely new octave of reality, by-passing the lower order, time-consuming, logistical path of learning, instead to arrive instantaneously to the new awareness and subsequent corresponding experiential plane.
To be in forever alertness we must come to a place of unconditional openness, to be in unconditional acceptance of our current experience moment-by moment. This in turn allows us to participate fully in the present, naturally and in perfect harmony, so as to arrive at the right place at the right time, to meet these dimensional portals occurring in spacetime.
Aludra, Wezen, and Adhara lie under latter sidereal Gemini and early Cancer, and create the hindquarter of the Canis Major. Although of this Sirian constellation, Aludra and Wezen are a pair of their own class. They lie much further in distance than the other stars thus being of their own realm. Aludra served Hipparchus to make his famous astronomical reckoning about the precession of the equinoxes. Aludra is also the only star of the constellation that lies across the Gemini-Cancer cusp. Aludra is the singular of Al Adhara, the Virgins--hence, a pure one of the breed. This is the white stallion, the black sheep, the unique person who does not fit in. Aludra most often time manifests a person who appears through unexpected space-time portals, with the magik provided by Alsciaukat and Alpha Monoceris. The Aludra individual seems strikingly unique in some way--out of the ordinary.
A unique view of the very unique Starburst Galaxy M82 in Ursa Major.
"M82 shows intense star formation packed in dense star clusters. This powers plumes of hot gas that extend for tens of thousands of light-years above and below the starry plane of the galaxy. This cosmic hurricane is traveling at more than a million miles an hour into intergalactic space." (Dr. Linda Smith, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London)
Image credit: Mark Westmoquette (UCL), Jay Gallagher (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Linda Smith (UCL), WIYN/NSF, NASA/ESA.
Samoht, Alpha Monoceris, is an Egyptian star name, actually older than the constellation Monoceris. Samoht means "one who has traveled far." Alpha Monoceris appears dimmer than Beta Monoceris, however Beta is a triplet star system, thus its brighter magnitude is due to the combined light from all three components. Alpha Monoceris is brighter than any of the three components of Beta, thus rightfully holds the Alpha designation.
Monoceris, the Unicorn, is of a species not common to earth--one magikal and mystical. Alpha Monoceris brings fortuitous situations, experiences or involvements quite out of the ordinary, which often appear unexpectedly. They may manifest while traveling or appear to come from another time or from a distant location. The spiral of the Unicorn's horn embodies its magic, but for it to manifest in our lives, we must live in the power of our uniqueness, not in denial of it. Alpha Monoceris invites us to be open to the unexpected and unique; and to relate to such experience without need to fit the experience into mass consensus or the norm. The synthesis of Samoht and Aludra can manifest as unexpected meetings with very unique people.
Irregular galaxies like M82 in Ursa Major tend to express as some type of abnormality, distortion, or uncommon trait regarding the conjoining stellar themes--hence the unexpected nature of the thorn in the Lynx, of the unexpected portals presenting themselves, and of the unique people native to this area of the zodiak. M82 requires we release any prejudices and limiting perspectives about the differences and oddities found in the multiplicity of our individuality. It requires we pull forth the totality of our own oddity from our true soul essence into our incarnational expression to allow the gift of this uniqueness to manifest. There is either total acceptance or total rejection of the unique situation that is occurring, no in-betweens. M82 of the Great Bear also provides opportunity for the uniqueness of our individuality to have a role or place in the world, but self-acceptance must be realized and the unique opportunities presenting themselves seized.
At this zodiakal longitude we find the ideal ambassador between countries, races, species, and worlds--the morph. We also find opportunities to amalgamate our uniqueness in ways that can dissolve the barriers in front of us and that serve our mutual wellbeing or purpose. We must, however, relinquish any preconceived ideas, beliefs and hesitancies that would limit the expression and fulfillment of the uniqueness of our souls. It is common for very unique and unexpected encounters to occur with alignments here; as well as for unique people to just show up in our lives with whom there is a special and mutual attraction. Being in forever alertness is key on our Full Moon; and with Juno's station opposite Jupiter, changes in or new relationships that are mobilizing and expansive are highlighted.
Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on January 22 in sidereal Leo. The Moon conjoins Asterion of Canes Venatici; Delta Velorum on the sail of the Argo; and the Pulsar CP1133 in Leo. Also of influence is northern Mizar of the Great Bear.
This is a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, one that can stimulate dynamic creative expression. Mizar of the Great Bear, the overseeing and predominant star, articulates raw fiery energy that must express one way or another. Mizar must have a creative outlet, but for its proper expression, we must apply it with creative vision. Mizar brings attention to use of our creative energies; creative and destructive tendencies, and the fear to create lest it may result in destruction. Here we learn the nature of such volatile forces. Mizar, with averted alignments is also known for catastrophic fires or massacres. Mizar can however express quite artistically--just as gunpowder can express as beautiful fireworks or devastating explosions. The expression of Mizar tends to express in a grand way, in character with showy and dramatic Leo.
Asterion and the conjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151, both of the barking hounds, Canes Venatici, provide the relentless racket for the show. Seyfert galaxies are spiral galaxies that have very dense and bright cores (nuclei) that express a broad spectrum of emission lines, which suggests extremely hot gases in violent motion. In general, Seyfert galaxies tend to stimulate dynamic, powerful and directed action.
Although of a dynamic, outgoing and creative character, this area of the zodiak can also produce a lot of hot air and foul winds, a dramatic racket and fiery commotion, which are often diversionary tactics intended to distract the unsuspecting from the real issues or path at hand.
The conjoining Pulsar CP1133 in Leo provides impulses to act upon our intuition and upon the more subtle evolutionary and guiding currents articulated by the stars of Velorum, the sail of the Argo, in this case Delta Velorum, which lies below in the southern heavens; and which may underly the more visible dramatics occurring around us.
Thus our demonstrable Moon stimulates explosive creativity, which must be directed.
Venus and the Centaur Pholus conjoin just after the Disseminating Moon, which may provide some unseen or mysterious catalyst for change related to art, money and relations.
Uranus and Makemake make their final grand finale opposition on January 24, presented above--the challenge for radical new approaches regarding the administration of resources.
Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on January 26 in sidereal Libra. Saturn begins its retrograde in sidereal Virgo hours before Last Quarter on our day of "inner need." Time may seem suspended.
The Moon, in early sidereal Libra lies in the constellation Virgo, in an area of the zodiak I dub as under the skirt of the Virgin--articulating the occulted wisdom here due to the destruction of the mythical image of the Virgin giving birth. See The Astronomical Truth of the Virgin.
The Moon conjoins the Centaurus-A Galaxy; Delta and Gamma of the Southern Cross; and Syrma of Virgo.
"The jets and lobes emanating from Centaurus A (NGC 5128) have been imaged at sub-millimeter wavelengths for the first time. The new data, from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile, which is operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), have been combined with visible and X-ray wavelengths to produce this striking new image."
Image & caption credit: ESO
Centaurus-A is the "Temple of the Centaur," a place so unique that it seems oblivious to and undaunted by its surrounding cosmology. It nests within a very unusual galaxy (NGC 5128) not fitting into any galactic class, thus, unique as the Centaur is, it is unclassified. It is the closest active galaxy to Earth. Centaurus-A is a very deep pool of consciousness, the essence of pure consciousness. It is of quality, beauty, harmony, and perfection.
South of Centaurus-A are the stars of the Southern Cross. The Centaur is protector of the Southern Cross and benevolent teacher of its principles. The four stars of the Southern Cross (Cruces) embody the original cardinal virtues seemly lost to most of humanity. This is the cardinality (pure intent) of the soul--embodied by the Kappa Crucis Cluster, the Jewel Box. The Southern Cross embodies the pure intent of the soul before the aberrations, confusions, attitudes, and beliefs incurred by the soul throughout its entire incarnational sojourn.
Centaurus-A invites us to create a contemplative or meditative harmonious space or environment from which to access our inner cardinal soul wisdom, our original and unique purpose and intent, which underlie the aberrations, false beliefs, and restricting concepts we may have placed upon ourselves.
Centaurus-A invites us to enter a place of inner stillness, to relinquish the concepts of thought we associate with our existing lives. This inner excursion requires a willingness to go deep within and to allow a disintegration of the constructs of self we hold, our human mold, of what we think ourselves to be, and to emerge with a far deeper awareness of our true selves, the inner knowing of our true essence. We can then bring that pure essence, that intent, back into our life expression without the need to mold ourselves into mass consensus. The successful feat can result in an inversion or flip in consciousness--with a revelation of great magnitude, one that can change our lives forever.
Centaurus-A also conjoins the Beta star of the Northern Crown, and Quasar 3C 351 of northern Draco. This quasar inspires access to ancient time, when soul was pristine in its intent and purpose, and to pull this awareness into the present expression with passion, enthusiasm, art, and beauty to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment, exemplified by Ophiuchus holding the serpent pointing its head to the Northern Crown, which lies north and above the Claws of the Scorpion (the scales of Libra).
Syrma, Star of Atlantis, lies under the skirt of the Virgin and marks the knee of the Virgin. Syrma embodies issues relating to frozen genetic coding and the resultant crystalized emotional patterning incurred due to devastating or cataclysmic events of the past. Syrma provides inspiration for personal change and transformation, and articulates our need to unlock our frozen genetic coding and crystalized cellular makeup. Syrma alignments can bring emotional patterning, especially suppressed grief, to surface awareness so we may clear it. Syrma also inspires the application of art-sciences that can help in this process, freeing ourselves from biological conditions and behavioral patterns that keep us frozen in past time so we may step forth into our evolutionary fulfillment.
Conjoining Syrma and Cen-A is Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes, lying just over the feet of the Virgin. This quasar inspires the artistic vision, imagination, and personal drive to create a portal of beauty and purity to reach our highest attainment.
Our Last Quarter Moon invites us upon an inward journey away from any turbulence and commotion that may obscure our true selves and original purposes in life; as well to create or establish an environment of harmony that serves to access this purer essence of self. A proper environment is important not only to our physical and spiritual well being, but also to unlock, access, and from which to express, our pure essence.
Mars and Ceres begin a new synodic cycle hours after the Last Quarter Moon. Ceres brings our attention to environmental issues, to Earth, the land, and its importance for our greater well being, and to that which is truly nourishing. More about Ceres. This cycle continues through April 29, 2014--a 3.25-year cycle
A Winding Tributary on the Surface of Mars
Image: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona
Mars is an initiating creative force, of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self reliance, and victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, Mars can express as the awry use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (base chakra, adrenals and sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people--due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality within ourselves--alienating it even more. Mars is often dubbed the planet of war, and commonly expresses as wayward and ballistic use of power in conflict.
A Mars-Ceres synthesis, in general, may bring attention to the use and miss-use of creative power in regard to our environment, globally and in our personal lives. It brings attention to the intimate relationship between our environment and a healthy creative expression in life. It also stimulates action in behalf of Mother Earth. Mars and Ceres can also raise issues regarding our very basic survival and our daily sustenance.
This Mars-Ceres synod occurs at mid-sidereal Capricorn and conjoins Epsilon and Delta of Indus; Alpha Toucana; and Theta Microscopium. Also conjoining are the Pulsar JP1953 in northern Vulpecula; Pulsar PSR 2045-16 in Capricorn; and the double Quasar 2016112 in Delphinus.
A principle resonance occurs here at the start of the Capricorn-Aquarius overlap created by the Hyperborean Cusp of the Heptanomis. The Heptanomis is a natural seven-fold division of Earth's precessional arc in the heavens. This cusp of the Heptanomis is the location of Earth's north celestial pole, occurring early in Earth ~25,000-year precessional cycle, that marks the start of the second of the seven heavens, the second day of creation, that is, the second epoch in our current evolutionary cycle of the soul. This is where Earth's pole tilts at the perfect angle of incidence away from the plane of galactic light such that the light of the galactic plane begins to refract, disperse, and fragment into rainbow colored rays. (Hyper means to move away from, while Borean is from Borealis, which means the most northern and magnetically charged galactic location in Earth's precessional cycle). This ecliptical location in mid-Capricorn creates a divine divisioning into new and unique paths of soul expression.
This second evolutionary epoch is overseen by Delphinus, the Dolphin star system. The Dolphins are angelic guides for the soul. The Dolphins articulate the purity and innocence of this pristine expression / divisioning of divine love. And, as any old salt would know, the Dolphins are guides for the soul, to be trusted in times of doubt, leading the wayward safely onward.
The issue of Trust arises at this location in sidereal Capricorn--trust in self and in life. Here lies our need to participate by trusting in the paths of our souls and in the forces of nature guiding us rather than to participate from decisions made from our limited egoic selves, which are biased by the deceiving physical facades we ware upon the incarnate stage of life.
Indus, classically the desert Persian, is the native indigenous person, much like the Native American, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab, or the Mountain Shaman--sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Indus articulates the steward of a special place, a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways. This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, and passionate. It can even be of fanaticism and obsession. Although seemingly driven from personal motive, it is often of those with a broad global vision and special interest. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery. Indus has a deep respect for the land, for life, and is intimately sensitive to a place's power and purpose.
Epsilon and Delta Indus conjoin Alpha Tucana at mid-sidereal Capricorn. Epsilon and Delta Indus add a quality that is inherently perceptive to the natural world and to the land. With loquacious Alpha Tucana, this can express as overly articulate, even excessive in communication, which can be either very helpful or incessant babbling that is terribly annoying.

Pulsars are neutron (collapsed) stars emitting neutrons at consistently dependable pulsating intervals. They are usually found along the galactic equatorial plane and are guiding beacons for the soul. They can be associated with our greater evolutionary purpose beyond or transcending the incarnational sojourn due to their galactic equatorial placement. They can either drive unconscious behavior for the less aware, or for a person more aware, they can offer a subtle but guiding message. A pulsar's emission is dependable, consistent, and is non-polarized (without opinion). They can suggest patience, tenacious persistence and consistency in action; or the need to be attentive to something specific. Repetition and routine can set in resulting in empty ceremonial ways, monotonous actions or other unconscious behavior if one lacks the perceptual awareness to apprehend the specific pulsar’s message. The Vulpecula Pulsar JP 1953's provides a message to shift from a covert, self-focused, exclusive (separatist) way of communicating (as in babbling to hear self speak) to a more open, wholesome and inclusive way of communicating with others and with all life on Earth, and in this case with all of the natural world.
The addition of Theta Microscopium brings attention to detail or to the magnification of detail. All of this adds to an ornately loquacious and negotiating quality that demands extreme attention to detail and which is precision minded. These stars often stimulate open communication and creative negotiations that lead to solution for all parties involved.
We often think about soul, spirit, God, etc., when thinking about guidance. Earth, of course, is a living being--our mother in a sense, in that it provides for us (assuming we don't destroy that capacity in her). In this light, and at this point in sidereal Capricorn (that requiring trust), Ceres-Mars also brings attention to our need to commune with and to trust Earth to guide us--if we would just listen to her--perhaps in the simplest of things as to where to be when, to our actions in the world. Let us not forsake our link to Earth and to her many kingdoms of life. This is a theme common to Indus, of those attuned to the Earth. This 3.25-year Ceres-Mars synodic cycle invites us all to become active stewards of Earth; to responsibly use our creative power in ways that nurture and support this one symbiotic system of life--Earth; and to find solution through cooperative, open and unbiased communication.
Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on January 29-30 and conjoins Venus at the cusp of sidereal Sagittarius.
Throughout the year, Venus synchronizes with both the Crescent Moon and the Balsamic Moon when Venus is at is eastern and western elongations (the furthest points from the Sun during Vcnus' orbit as seen from Earth. See E-motions of the Heart. Venus, currently at its western elongation, can be seen with the Balsamic Moon just before sunrise in the eastern sky. During these Venus-Moon coherencies, our attention is brought back to Matters of the Heart (and all Venus related issues).
The Venus Balsamic Moon, lying in the last degree of sidereal Scorpio, conjoins Lesath and Shaula, the sting of the Scorpion; and Alpha and Beta Ara, Altar of the Centaur.
Ara is the Altar of the Centaur. On the low altar (late Scorpio), the Centaur places Lupus the Beast (our lower-order personality-based patterns of self-importance, and associated emotional baggage) with conscious deliberation to be consumed in the Centaur's transmutational pyre. Venom from Lesath, the sting of the Scorpion--the often harsh but required lessons incurred while incarnate--dripping upon the altar serves as the required transmutational elixir. Over the high altar lies Galactic Centre where reinstatement into our souls' destined fulfillment occurs. The sting (Lesath and Shaula marking the end of Scorpio) precedes our movement across the cusp of Scorpio into Sagittarius where Galactic Center resides. Alignments with Lesath can be somewhat sharp or stinging, but serve for our metamorphosis.
Our Balsamic Moon invites us to surrender any emotions of the heart that may keep is from living and expressing our full heart's potential--especially any painful past experiences that may have led to a fearful or closed heart.

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, the first few days leading into the Balsamic Moon is an ideal time to work with the Venus audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Sun and Ceres conjoin the day after the Balsamic Moon, as we focus our attention toward the future and the next lunar cycle to come. This conjunction marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the current Earth-Ceres synodic cycle that began on June 18, 2010 in early Sagittarius and conjoining Galactic Center. It brings our attention back to the higher-minded Sagittarian principles and ideals that began in this lunar cycle. It may also bring us realizations regarding our relationship with Earth, its cycles, and the land and environments in which we live--are we living that which is truly nourishing for ourselves, for those around us, and for Earth. Ceres asks us to recognize that giving and receiving is one flow of energy through ourselves; to honor our needs and needs of others, and to have self-love, and respect for all life on Earth--to breathe with life.
Thus, the seed coalesces for this lunar cycle, which will sprout anew in the following lunar cycle. Our next New Moon occurs on February 2-3, 2011 in sidereal Capricorn conjoining Mars. More to come then.
