Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
The New Moon of May 3, 2011 occurs in initiatory Aries. It lies over the Head of Cetus, our techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. North are the feet of Andromeda, Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus. South is Eridanus, the River of Life; Horologium, the pendulum clock; and Dorado, the golden fish. Impending time invites us to take personal responsibility for our human condition rather than leaving it to the bureaucracies of the world, which would lead us to our demise. The Sun is exalted in sidereal Aries creating an empowering lunar cycle. It is a cycle of initiation, leadership, and of initiating creative pursuits for self.
Several new planetary cycles begin in this lunar cycle: Mars, Jupiter and Eris conjoined in sidereal Pisces at the end of the previous lunar cycle. Now, in this lunar cycle, Mars and Jupiter begin a new 2.25-year synodic cycle; and Mars and Eris begin a new 1.9-year cycle. These events precede and act as a trigger to the upcoming main event, which is the start of a new Jupiter-Eris 12-year synodic cycle that will begin on June 4, 2011, in the following lunar cycle.
Eris, discovered in 2005 in the bowels of Cetus, was responsible for the formation of the new “Dwarf Planet” classification and the reclassification of Pluto to Dwarf Planet status, the family to which Eris, Pluto and Ceres now belong. Eris, the Great Disruptor, provokes change by upsetting the status quo, by upsetting the apple cart. Although Eris can create a disrupting commotion, upsetting our existing, limiting and antiquated structures of consciousness. She opens us to see beyond the finite bounds of our current perception, beyond the bounds we place upon ourselves by arousing and challenging our egoic defenses. In doing so, we are left to redefine and reorganize our worldview to embrace a far vaster reality--a view more fitting to our rapidly expanding awareness.
Venus and Uranus also begin a new synodic cycle on the vernal point of Earth’s Precessional Cross. Mars and Uranus began their new synodic cycle at the same location in the previous lunar cycle. Uranus’ passage over the vernal point starting in March and continuing through the rest of this year creates a primary activation of the Precessional Cross--our portal of evolutionary change in Earth’s ~25,000-year precessional cycle. It stimulates a radical departure from the conformity of the past at a global and evolutionary level. Water related events catalyzing radical change could be expected to continue throughout the year. The Venus trigger occurring now is not as dramatic as the Mars trigger or cycle. However, this new 226-day Venus-Uranus synodic cycle, continuing through January 1, 2012, stimulates a radical change of Heart and with the feminine expression in the world and in our lives.
Ceres begins new synodic cycles with Neptune and Chiron. The Last Quarter Moon of this lunar cycle conjoins Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius inspiring humanitarian-focused change to cross a bridge upon visions and dreams that may have been gestating for the last couple of years. The Balsamic Moon conjoins Eris, creating the finale of the lunar cycle. This entire lunar cycle motivates personal action to move and expand from any disruptions that may have occurred in our lives, or from an antiquated way of life or mode of living.
These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more, the underlying cycles upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.
"The stars would not be in the heavens if we were meant to walk in darkness."
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

New Moon Phase Characteristics
The New Moon of May 3 in mid-sidereal Aries conjoins Achrid, Castula and Tish of Cassiopeia; Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant of 1572 A.D. in Cassiopeia; Beta and Gamma of Triangulum; Zibal of Eridanus; the feet of Andromeda, Almach and 51 Androm; and Delta Fornax. The New Moon lies over the circle of stars forming the head of Cetus, Kaffaljidhma, Mu, Nu, Xi, Lambda, and Menkar. The Sun is exalted in sidereal Aries creating an empowering lunar cycle.
Contributing constellations providing the backdrop theme for sidereal Aries are: Queen Cassiopeia, King Cepheus, and Princess Andromeda (the Royal Family); Triangulum, Cetus, Eridanus, Fornax, Horologium and Dorado.
Classically, Aries is figured as a reclining ram with its head looking back over itself, admiring his own golden fleece. The theme of Aries the Ram, whether articulated by the Royal Family or Jason and the Argonauts search for the golden fleece is about the initiatory challenges that continually create obstacles and limitations across life's path. These obstacles, often created by our righteous attitudes of arrogance, create painful and repetitive lessons in the fires of life about that very thing--pride, arrogance, and greed--lessons that ultimately produce the alchemical honing of self. The lessons of Aries awaken us from our denial and naivete regarding how arrogance and greed create our own entrapment in the Jaws of Cetus--the jaws continually pulling us into the transmutational fires of human experience.

There are three initiations in sidereal Aires. Eridanus, the River of Life articulates the initiatory journey of the soul through this part of the heavens. To understand the esoteric / soul-level meaning of Eridanus, it is best to look at the direction of the river flowing from east to west, in the reverse direction through the zodiak (in Earth' precessional direction). The river starts in sidereal Taurus at Kursa and enters late Aries at Zuarak. From here it moves through Rana and Zibal to Azha, where It begins to make its switchback, or first turn. Here at Azha the river turns southward into deeper levels of consciousness, under Cetus. It reverses fully at Angetenar, where it now moves west to east, making its second passage through Aries, back toward Taurus to Theemin, again in early sidereal Taurus. Here at Theemin, it reverses direction again, moving back, east to west, through Aries for the third time, emerging from Aries at Acamar, its last primary stopping point, where it then moves through sidereal Pisces, and eventually emerges at Achernar, the end of the River. Aries is where we face and address the world at large, and learn about self and how we relate to the world.ense of perpetual helplessness.
In the first passage along the river through sidereal Aries, from Zuarak through Azha, soul confronts, and faces head-on, the fear-instilling forces of Cetus, articulated by the head of Cetus, marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the brain of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. This is the first passage or initiation of Aries, where we confront lower-order mass-consciousness, which perceives forces outside of self to be a threat to one's survival. Here one feels they must subversively fight against such forces--a reactionary, survivalist and combative mentality common to the baby and young soul--the lower expression of Aries--dealing with issues of self-preservation. Here soul growth is gained through battles and wounds, though conflict and confrontation.
In the second passage, along the switchback of the River, from Azha to Theemin, we delve into deeper issues within consciousness, and learn to participate with conscious deliberate action, as a directing force within mass-consciousness. Here there is a wide spectrum of growth to be had. Along this part of the river, the soul learns to be a responsible activist by becoming involved in the governing body of collective consciousness, the intelligencia of ole' Cetus. Here the soul learns about their role in creating what was perceived as a threat, that we collectively create the fear-based monster of collective consciousness and must rise above the dualistic judgmental view of this side verses that side, of white verses black. Here one learns about issues like manipulation, pride, arrogance and their ramifications, eventually to confront and slay one's own fear (at Theemin, in early Taurus (where Perseus slays Medusa and claims his personal power). This level of growth is common to the mature soul.
In the third passage, from Theemin to Acamar, soul learns compassion, to become a beneficent but active force in the world. Here the soul learns the evolved aspects about personal power and leadership, the differences between manipulatively using one's power for one's own benefit, and providing for and offering what one has to unconditionally help others. Here the soul learns to become selfless, kind, considerate, charitable, magnanimous and noble--growth common to the older soul.
The stars of the King and Queen often depict individuals in positions who are able to aid, are affluent and have authority. There are two primary expressions of the King and Queen. One is pompous, arrogant and pretentious, with an air of denial to matters deemed to be beneath them. The other is beneficent, generous, wise and compassionate, willing to aid others in lesser positions or who need assistance. Which is dominant, or both, depends one's level of life experience, and soul maturity and awareness.
In the story of the Royal Family, Queen Cassiopeia, with arrogant spitefulness, proclaimed to the sea god Poseidon that her daughter, the princess Andromeda, was of greater beauty than the Nereids, the nymphs of the sea, the daughters of Poseidon. As punishment to Cassiopeia, Poseidon (a greater authoritarian power) sentences Andromeda to her death, to be chained to the cliff at the see to be devoured by Cetus the sea monster. King Cepheus responds with indifference, aloofness and denial, turning his head about the unjust use of patriarchal power against the feminine; when he can instead respond responsibly and aid those unjustly punished. This clearly articulates of the current state of affairs and imbalance between the patriarchal and matriarchal forces in the world--the patriarchal denial about authoritarian use of power over woman; and the matriarchal spite and resentment about it.
Tish is the whip of the Queen. In the myth of the Royal family, the intolerant queen, has become crusted with anger and frustration due to finding herself in-between the tormenting forces of both the manipulative gods and her own emotional insecurities and arrogance, and is at a loss with how to deal with either. It is this spiteful arrogance that sentences the princess Andromeda to be devoured by Cetus. When the whip of spiteful arrogance is used, it often snaps back only to scar one’s own hand, especially when applied with vengeance. Lowering ourselves to this level or resourcefulness, using a tool found only in the dramatics of the monstrous world, will only lead to our own demise. Here we have a statement of something we must surrender to receive that which we are due--righteous arrogance, the attitude that keeps us from our very own fulfillment.
Achird of Cassiopeia asks us to realize that we create and perpetuate the very things that we perceive as trying to detour or devour us. Achird brings attention to the fact that the monsters and the entrapments in which we find ourselves become manifest by our own righteous and arrogant attitudes of self-importance.
Castula of Cassiopeia impels us to express a purer form of self, which in turn allows us to move up and out of an entrapping situation from which there seems no solution or escape.
Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The body of Cetus lies submerged in sidereal Pisces, but its neck and head reach up upon the shores of Aries, with its head lying in mid-sidereal Aries and conjoining the feet of Andromeda. The head of Cetus articulates the intelligence of Cetus and it is marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the brain of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is “human consciousness.” This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in--the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.

Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant of 1572 A.D., an x-ray source in Cassiopeia lies between the ecliptical longitudes of Beta and Gamma Triangulum. Triangulum teaches us to see beyond the judgments of fear-based dualistic mind and the dramatics it produces. Here is the statement "let thine eye become single"--to see from unity consciousness, which in turn makes it possible to rise above and beyond the "controlling verses being controlled" mentality and its subsequent entrapment.
Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant was discovered by Tycho Brache in 1572 AD in Denmark. Supernovas play a significant role in the awakening of human consciousness. Brache (Born: 5/16/1571; Died: 11/15/1630) revealed the nova was located beyond the moon and was also the first to produce a modern star guide, inspiring the movement from personality-egoic centered reality, one separate from Source (purported by the dark-age church to control the masses) to that of the durative soul consciousness which transcends the sphere of incarnate self (Earth). It certainly was a time requiring external catalyst to help awaken humanity from a dark period. For example: On August 23 and 24, 1572, 50,000 Huguenonts (French Protestants considered "heretics" by the Roman Catholic Church) in Paris and surrounding provinces were killed by Catholics in France. The massacre was called for by the queen mother Catherine de Medici and was applauded by Pope Gregory XIII--dubbed "St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre." This was during the time of the Renaissance, just after Copernicus published his heliocentric theory of the solar system in Poland (1543 AD), and just before Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar in Italy (1582). It was within one year of when Johannes Kepler was born (1571). Kepler later revealed the sacred geometry (Phi progression) natural to the organization of our solar system--the music of the spheres. Kepler played a significant role in bringing to light the long-lost art-sciences.

Tycho's supernova remnant inspires our expansion from egoic / victim consciousness, where we believe we are victims of other beings, ones that are responsible for our condition and ones that must come to save us from it (or devour us as food as some people believe). Do we acquiesce to the collective fear-based techno-bureaucratic intelligence due to our own fear and righteousness, which perpetuates being at the mercy of this intelligence, or do we claim our capacity to see beyond this intelligence and emerge from it? Here in the "Initiatory Gate of sidereal Aries," we learn to become responsible for our human condition as well as to claim our freedom from its apparent bondage, bondage that we ourselves create.
Our lunar cycle theme inspires personal action to step beyond any entrapments self-imposed or imposed by the bureaucratic systems in which we may live. For those governed by manipulative authorities, it motives us to become self-willed and to become our own leaders; and to step beyond fighting within duality and to take bold action beyond duality. For those in leadership positions, it motives us to use our authority in ways that support other people’s freedom from bondage and dependence--either way to become active forces in the world from a selfless stance of nobility.
It may also bring attention to our roles in the world and if we are manipulatively using our power and positions for our own benefit, or if we are providing for and offering who we are to unconditionally help others.
Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon of May 6-7 resides in early sidereal Gemini and conjoins the “Gate of Man.” Conjoining stars include: Betelgeuse and the Sword of Orion; and Menkalinan of Auriga.
Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind--the theme of the Gate of Man. Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange. The Twins are of partnerships in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, one of linking and uniting through our daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.
Menkalinan, the right shoulder of Auriga the Charioteer, conjoins Betelgeuse, the right shoulder of Orion, and the "Gate of Man." Menkalinan is of mutual support amongst colleagues with a responsibility to assist each other in the world of daily human affairs. Menkalinan is also a polarizer that will show indecision by bringing experience of the opposite side of an issue to make clear the choices and to reveal one's hesitancy to respond to life in the moment. Menkalinan will dramatize and create graphic illustration to elucidate one's hesitancies for those not abiding to the more subtle messages within. Menkalinan's helps to cut through the confusion, to make things plain and clear.
Betelgeuse marks Orion's right shoulder, from which he holds the upraised sword just under the gate of Man. Betelgeuse embodies the theme of a male warrior, is of a kingly nature, authoritative and is of human resourcefulness in action. Betelgeuse inspires a sense of responsibility to dynamically response to whatever is occurring in the moment. Betelgeuse will challenge existing systems or authorities to cut through whatever is in the way of solution. Physical constructive response is the hallmark of Betelgeuse. Menkalinan and Betelgeuse conjunction with the Gate of Man articulates the essence of sidereal Gemini, the role of responding to aid to our colleagues and the needs of our fellow humans--serving their greater fulfillment. The North Celestial Pole (NCP) making passage over this longitude at this time in Earth's precessional cycle marks the time of the erect Precessional Cross and the transition point for humanity to unite and link together as one world as we make this evolutionary crossing now at hand.
Our Crescent Moon inspires cooperation amongst colleagues and constructive physical action to respond to the needs of humanity as one world. It inspires a united effort amongst partners, people in general, and amongst countries of the world. It brings attention to commerce, and to the exchange of resources and information in a way that benefits all parties.
Neptune and Chiron began a new 85-year synodic cycle in February of 2010 on the cusp of sidereal Aquarius (presented in the February 14, 2010 Lunar Planner. It synodic theme inspires us to create entirely new, revolutionary and visionary alternatives to cross the vast abyss currently upon us. It may also require we discern that which are real alternatives that can truly form a bridge into the future from those that are delusional or impractical fantasy. Either way, the point is not for us to fix or re-build that which is crumbling around us, but to create a new world paradigm, a new societal structure fitting to our emerging new world consciousness.
Ceres
Due to her size and spherical shape, Ceres was reclassified as a “dwarf planet” in Aug 2006, along with Pluto and Eris--appropriately honoring Ceres to be the mother of the asteroids; and now places a “planet” in the orbital location where a planet should lie--in this case along with her many children.
Ceres, the mother of the main asteroids, brings awareness to how we nurture and to that which is truly nurturing to us. Ceres embodies mothering and agricultural qualities and brings attention to our relation with the Earth, the land, and the seasons. Due to Ceres association with the land, agriculture, the environment, and the seasons, Ceres is of particular interest in charts associated with environmental changes or events. Ceres reveals our ability to be in universal flow--the unification of giving and receiving as one flow of energy through ourselves. Ceres asks for acknowledgment of our inner needs, to have self love and self worth. Ceres is of concern and caring for others as well as for the Earth. Ceres is associated with fertility, the womb and stomach. More about Ceres.

The Ceres-Neptune synod occurs just after the Crescent Moon on May 7-8 . The Ceres-Chiron synod occurs a bit later in this lunar cycle on May 24. The new Ceres-Neptune cycle is 4.76-years long and the new Ceres-Chiron cycle is 4.9 years. The two synods are about 3° apart in early sidereal Aquarius. Due to this and to the recent Neptune-Chiron synod, this can be considered as one compounded synodic theme. These new cycles bring our attention to the environmental and agricultural aspects of the original Neptune-Chiron theme. They bring attention to the humanitarian needs of the people and their nourishment; and to creating new visionary bridges that support these needs.
The Ceres-Neptune synod conjoins Gienah of Cygnus and Cygnus X-3. The Ceres-Chiron synod conjoins Enif of Pegasus; Ancha of Aquarius and the Pulsar PSR 2217+47 in Cygnus.
This location in the ecliptic is where we are motivated to strip off the cloaks of personality-based facades and shenanigans to reveal true heart-level self and to live from our deeper hearts' truth for the greater nourishment of all. Sadr, heart of the Swan, through and the wing of Cygnus, Gienah, lifts us from a self-centered exclusive focus to a more embracing and inclusive level of participation. This marks the start of the revolutionary, visionary and humanitarian facet of the zodiak.
Cygnus X-3 resides in a unique galactic equatorial area, one of the galactic "sacks of coal," a dark void along the galactic plane (easily seen between Sadr and Deneb on a dark starry night). Cygnus X-3 is an X-ray binary star system similar to Cygnus X-1 except its period is extraordinarily rapid at 4.8 hours, compared to the 5.6-day period of Cygnus X-1 (in later Capricorn), which is more common for binary star systems. The periodic rate of Cygnus X-3 is almost five octaves up from Cygnus X-1 and harmonically translates into the visible spectrum at 5615.40323 Angstroms, the colour YellowLemon. Cygnus X-3 is more dynamic, accelerating and lifting mind to a higher more embracing consciousness.
Cygnus X-3 enters the ecliptic, along with Gienah, the binary star epsilon Cygnus, the right outstretch wing tip of the Swan, and also with M15, a fainter globular star cluster in Pegasus. Cygnus X-3 is a principal force expressing in early sidereal Aquarius.
Cygnus X-3 invites us to surrender our preconceptions of self and our descriptive judgments of others that uphold our isolationist way of being. Cygnus X-3 invites us to participate beyond our segregated ways based on gender, race, creed, or culture and open ourselves to new experience only available when we are willing to embrace the uniqueness of all life. Here we must shed the mortal facades we ware and participate from our true essence and to see the same in others. Mutually exclusive attractions create factions amongst our true soul-level friends and families. Here lies the embracing aspect of the Aquarian Waterman, to participate in the inclusiveness of universal (Uranian) love. The conjoining Globular Cluster of very old stars, M15 in Pegasus, inspires active and focused participation as mature, consciously awake individuals.
Pegasus, in general, is of strength and support, that which lifts humanity above the entrapping forces and scenarios common to a less than socially mature world. Enif, Baham and Homam are a group of fortuitous stars that lie over the Aquarian waterbearer, forming the head of Pegasus.
Enif of Pegasus, the nose of the magical flying horse, brings intuitiveness and sensitivity to the humanitarian / Aquarian pursuit. Enif is characteristic of altruistic people, those with the intuitive awareness to recognize what is of essence, of value, and worthy of humanitarian support. It is of those who are capable of providing material and financial support and who have the sensitivity to do so. A fortuitous star, Enif asks us to follow our intuition to do what is truly supportive to our greater wellbeing and to those around us.
Conjoining Enif is Pulsar PSR 2217+47 of Cygnus. Pulsars are "beacons for the soul." Pulsars are neutron (collapsed) stars that emit electrically neutral, subatomic particles at consistently dependable pulsating intervals. They are one of the means through which "Evolutionary Intelligence" communicates through the heavenly hierarchy of consciousness of which we are a part. Pulsars are usually found along the galactic equatorial plane and thus provide an ever-present guiding message associated with our greater evolutionary purpose as sentient souls incarnate on Earth. A pulsar's message is received in our sub-atomic coding that transcends the gross level of language and human diversity. This guidance expresses as a continuous and dependable subtle current articulating through the zodiakal character created by the conjoining stars. Pulsars guide us in our spiritual growth and evolutionary fulfillment. They require we listen to and patiently follow the subtle soul-level impulses guiding us in our daily lives--this is about trusting the impulses of Spirit.
This specific pulsar, PSR 2217+47, has a period of 0.5384673780 seconds which translates to a fundamental frequency of 1.8571227445 Hz., the alpha brain wave frequency of 7.428490978 Hz., the audio frequency of 237.711711296 Hz., and the light wavelength of 5733.8 angstroms (a yellow-lemon color); with a cross-resonance to Earth’s "Circumference Harmonic"--thus interacting directly with the emotional and psychic weather of human collective consciousness and daily global affairs.
This specific pulsar impels us to use our intuitive capacity to see through the emotional and psychic weather of collective human consciousness to discern when and how to apply our humanitarian support. It also stimulates our need to make a definitive choice, to bring to completion any process of perpetual deliberation. In essence, a purging of mind is required, to move from diversity (fragmented) consciousness, which is driven by the mindsets of collective human consciousness, to the wholeness of essence consciousness, to participate from our individual soul-level truth, which is articulated by the star Deneb of Cygnus. It also expands us from the concept of personal family to soul family and global family.
Our Ceres-Neptune-Chiron synodic cycles set a new current in our planetary cycles--one that brings our attention and focus to creating new visionary ways to provide humanitarian support to those in need without segregating by race, creed and culture. They invite us, humanity, and those who are able, to have the intuitive awareness, sensitivity and compassion to aid all in need.
The Japan nuclear disaster, which affects the entire world, including our food, water, air and land, certainly is fitting to this new Ceres-Neptune-Chiron cycle.
First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on May 10. The Moon, in late sidereal Cancer, conjoins Merak and Tania of Ursa Major; Naos of Argo Navis; and Algenubi and Rasalas of Leo.
The Great Bear, Ursa Major, lies north of the Lion. Ursa Major also extends west over sidereal Cancer, and slightly east just into the cusp of sidereal Virgo. Ursa Major’s wide variety of stars fall into the ecliptic throughout these two signs. The Stars of the Great Bear are associated with the global scene and world powers; and reveal the diverse dynamic of the ruling family in general. The over-seeing stars of Ursa Major west of Regulus / Alpha Sextans (Early Leo and Cancer) are those of the integrous side of the Bear--that which is oriented toward a Greater Vision, to be a caring and nurturing force for the people, and they also imply this responsibility.
Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak, (Beta) of Ursa Major, expressing through later Cancer, manifest the integrous side of the Great Bear, and are the pointers to Earth’s current North Star, Polaris of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor--of bringing attention to and caring for the young, for future generations. Although in the sign of Cancer, this longitudinal band toward the end of sidereal Cancer is moving out of the area of the Scarab (or Crab) itself. Here we arrive to the deserted (desert) place (of peace) between the Scarab and the Lion. These stars are those of that which is oriented toward seeking a Greater Vision.
Dubhe embodies the pursuit for a greater vision beyond the accepted political-religious dogmas of the human world that keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe asks us to do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for the unfoldment of our lives--for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek.
Merak inspires the administration of Dubhe's theme--to open the way. Merak impels dynamic action, to get on with it. Also conjoining Merak is the hind-foot of the Great Bear composed of Tania Bor. and Tania Aus., which brings a strong sense of the power of conviction--that which propels us beyond our current, accepted stance in life, beyond what has been achieved before. This is a power point in the zodiak; a place to leave the comforts of our existing reality behind and to confidently surge into new and unexplored territory.
Algenubi, Eye of the Lion, best embodies the theme of this few degree band of the ecliptic. Algenubi is of "breaking trail." These are the explorers, pioneers, and adventurers with little interest or contentment to merely fit in with those performing on the worldly stage. They want to go beyond the norm in accomplishment and are undaunted in the face of perilous explorations, and they are proud to demonstrate it.
Naos, Zeta Puppis of the Argo, is one star of five creating the “Egyptian X” along with Procyon, Betelgeuse, Phaet Alpha Columba the Dove; and with the center star being Sirius--our impetuous Great World Teacher. Naos is the brightest star of Puppis and one of the brightest in the sky. Naos is an evolved and dynamic supergiant star, and sole star moving at a vast speed. Naos is indicative of a wise and old but very active soul. On the aplustre of the stern of the Argo, Naos holds an elevated position ideal navigation. Naos can be considered our inner sanctum of the soul, and provides motivation to observer and act from our inner perceptual and intuitive awareness. Naos is a star of transcendent power and purpose behind or directing the mission of the soul. In general, the stars of the Argo are associated with greater evolutionary matters and ensuring our evolutionary fulfillment.
Adventurism, exploration, breaking new trail, to go where we have not gone before, to get on with it--to engage, are all themes here. These are actions that require the courage of self-conviction, of belief in self, in our paths in life, to the future, and to have the inner confidence and conviction to step way from the convention of mass consensus, beyond the boundaries of the past.
Our stimulus to action Moon impels immediate and responsive action that breaks new trail and new ground in the interest of a global vision that supports the greater nourishment and wellbeing of all humanity, action beyond the social-political systems based in avarice and control of power.
Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
Our Gibbous Moon occurs on May 13 just 3° to retrograde Saturn. The Moon conjoins Diadem of Coma Berenices and The Antennae, a Spiral Galaxy NGC 4039 in Corvus. Saturn conjoins Vindemiatrix and Porrima of Virgo.
Saturn's Super Storm: This is the sixth storm to be recorded since 1876, and the last was in 1990."
Coma Berenices (Berenice’s hair) stands alone in this area of the heavens, slightly north of and over early sidereal Virgo. The stars forming Coma Berenices are not necessarily connected to any surrounding constellations other than being associated with Virgo. This makes sense when we realize that the North Galactic Pole (NGP) resides in Coma (5° sidereal Virgo), as does our Super Galactic Center (SGC) (~7° sidereal Virgo). Coma Berenices is a recent name, but Diadem, the Alpha Star of Coma, articulates the essence of this grouping of stars.

As an immediate outcome of this dramatic event, stars are born within massive complexes that appear blue in this composite photo, based on exposures through green, orange and red optical filters. Image Credit: ESO
Diadem lies just north of the Virgin's head, and The Antennae (of the Ark), the Spiral Galaxy NGC 4038/9 in Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird, which lies just south of the Virgin on the back of Hydra, work intimately together. Diadem is the jeweled crown above Virgin's head. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Diadem accentuates our capacity to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance which communicates through the magnetic forces of nature, through the world around us, as articulated by the stars of southern Corvus the messenger bird. Diadem and the Antennae of Corvus reveal the importance of being attuned to the natural world to receive our guiding impulses.
Vindemiatrix and Porrima mark the centre of sidereal Virgo and embody the essence of sidereal Virgo. This is also the exalted seat of our winged messenger Mercury, significantly adding perspective and understanding to the nature of the stars at this ecliptical longitude. Mercury is the vessel by which these stars function in their highest expression, that is, through the neurology of communication and logistics, and all that Mercury characterizes.
Porrima, just two degrees north of the ecliptic expresses through the higher nature of the Mercurial mind--our higher brain centres that activate our capacity for clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima opens our ability to have foresight to see future probabilities. Vindemiatrix, just north of Porrima, classically the Harvester, indicates the time is at hand, that it is in the timing. "This star is said to confer great powers of thought and an exacting, severe nature" (friend and siderealist Andrés Takra). Both stars lie over Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us. The purpose of this fore-vision is so we may act accordingly in the present so as to meet future events to come already precipitating from the realm of probabilities.
The essence of this zodiakal area, comprised by all of these conjoining entities expresses through the higher mental capacities associated with the ability to for-sense future probabilities, which includes clairvoyant and telepathic awareness. This prophetic ability is with specific purpose, not only for communication, but action. This is much more than receiving simple impulses of premonition, and is not only associated with ill-fated events, but is about how our attentiveness "extends" or reaches from the present into the future. This implies the ability to sense future unfoldment. The purpose of such eves-dropping into the future provides advantage in how to use our will (Zaniah of Virgo) in the present. The purpose of such future-seeing is so that we can prepare and create what is needed "to meet" the future events to come. The events felt or seen are already precipitating from the realm of probabilities, which we then meet as we continue along our paths in life.
Non of us are forsaken or deprived of guidance, nor even need intermediaries like those found in religions or those of the astrological arts. We merely need to see, feel, and listen to the guidance of the divine expressing in the everyday affairs of our lives, palpable guidance which is continually around us, moment to moment, expressing through everything--the simple things occurring in our lives--its nature's way. We need only to trust in them and act upon them.
Our Gibbous Moon brings our attention to our responsibility to heed the messages provided by the world around us and to responsibly act upon those messages.
The Sun enters sidereal Taurus on May 16.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.
Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
The Full Moon occurs on May 17 in the first degree of sidereal Scorpio. The Moon conjoins Agena, Beta Centauri; Beta Lupus; Zubenelakrab on the northern claw of the Scorpion and the Nuclear Galaxy AP Libra; and the Irregular Galaxy NGC 2915 of the Chameleon.
Early sidereal Scorpio teaches us how to graduate from the karmic clutches of the Scorpion, from falling prey as victims to the entrapping forces around us, fighting in struggle to live, and to realize that we experience a wide dynamic of forces that mold our experience; and that it is up to us to claim our mastery in the midst of these forces.
The first few degrees of sidereal Scorpio, approaching the head of the Scorpion, resides in the domain the benevolent Centaur, who teaches the right way to live to attain our self-mastery in the physical world and subsequently to claim our freedom from entrapment in our antiquated patterns and life scenarios.
In our mythical image, the Centaur is depicted as grasping Lupus the beast in his right fist, and with conscious deliberation placing the beast upon Ara, the sacrificial Altar of the Centaur to be consumed in the Centaur's pyre. This is the relinquishment or offering of the lower-self personality desires to be burned upon the altar. This is required to claim the profound level of self-mastery implied and embodied by that which is above the ecliptic--Unukalhai, the neck of the Serpent whose head reaches for the Northern Crown.
Beta Centauri lies south of the ecliptic on the sidereal cusp of Scorpio. Beta Centauri embodies the essence of the "experiential transformational process." This is a way of living that allows the death of one way of life and a rebirth into a refined way of living, a purer, cardinal way of being. This is a life-long journey of personal (mental, emotional and physical) refinement, and it is the prerequisite to true spiritual self-mastery in the material world. This is body wisdom gained only by doing, not by amassing information that is not lived.
The benevolent and wise Centaurians are teachers, leaders back to the original cardinal virtues embodied by the Southern Cross, which the Centaur protects. As Alpha Centauri articulates the master Centaur, the teacher, the shower of the way, Beta Centauri articulates the process itself, the way. Beta Centauri requires that we do whatever is required in the physical world, in assertive action, to achieve our paths of self-mastery in the world--exemplified by Ophiuchus, who stands over the Scorpion and holds the serpent, with the neck and head of the Serpent reaching for the Northern Crown, an image that articulates attaining freedom from entrapment in the cyclic re-incarnational process of soul growth and from our karmic-based patterns of the past.
Here the theme of sacrifice and offerings arise, but sacrifice does not mean self-sacrifice, in the true sense of the word it means to give up a lower office for a higher office. When offering up the lesser (lesser modes of involvement or patterns of behavior), we are also faced with taking on a greater responsibility, moving from victim consciousness, where we feel powerless and merely acquiesce to the conditions of life in which we find ourselves--caught in the clutches of the Scorpion--to taking responsibility for our life scenarios and consciously choosing a life path that supports our experiential growth, our emotional and spiritual maturity, and our physical wellbeing and fulfillment.
The influence of the nuclear galaxy AP Libra; the irregular galaxy NGC 2915 of Chamaeleontis, the shapeshifter; Beta Lupus, the contortionist; and Zuben el Akrab, Gamma Libra, which lies on the arm of the northern chelae. Zuben el Akrab is of poisonous nuclear conditions, critters, creatures or viruses of the underworld, or of such scenarios in our lives. These all compose the potent cusp of sidereal Libra-Scorpio and they conjoin the principle stars Beta Centauri, Alpha Lupus, and Unukalhai of Serpens. The opportunity potent AP Libra offers is found in the stellar themes of all of these conjoining stars. Here carnal forces coalesce to create whatever type of scenario is required to challenge us to master these forces and free ourselves from any patterns and naiveté that may perpetuate our entrapment.
Beta Lupus and the Irregular Galaxy of the Chameleon bring the ability to morph, to shapeshift, to change as the situation requires. In its lower order expression however, this can be used to avoid what is required to claim one's true self-mastery, or to manipulate a situation. In its higher expression, used in self-mastery, it brings the ability to work with primal and carnal (incarnate) AP-Lib forces in a way that accesses the transformative power they or a situation offers. In this octave, we are relinquishing a lesser form or human mold for a refined, more empowered form that is in tune with the natural creative forces of life and death, intimately participating and merging with them. It is this that the mythical image of the Centaur placing Lupus the beast with conscious deliberation upon the Altar of the Centaur (Ara) articulates.
Nuclear Galaxies of the BL Lacerta Category, of which AP Libra is one, exude powerful primordial forces. AP Libra is a part of the southern chelae (claw) of the Scorpion, reaching from the Scorpion’s head, via Brachium (Sigma Libra) to Zubenelgenubi of Libra--the south claw--the karmic seat for incarnating souls.
AP Libra forces can lure us into intense carnal and karmic-based scenarios. However, these experiences provide the transmutational force that serves us to claim our self-mastery in the incarnate world, to free ourselves from lower-order patterns of behavioral and from our past karmic entrapments by learning to master those forces.
AP Libra forces are only entrapping when we are naive about them due to our lack of experience with them. The forces here are however very active at the physical, psychic, and carnal levels, and it requires the physical clarity and empowerment only gained through carnal experience that leads to our personal empowerment and subsequent attainment of evolutionary freedom--gaining spiritual prowess over such forces. AP Libra is a radiant powerhouse of primordial forces holding us in the entrapment of the Scorpion’s clutches until we gain this mastery, until we awaken from our naiveté about the power of such forces. AP Libra's primordial forces generally resonate through the root chakra, from what could be considered the controlling, carnal, sexual, survival-based realms of life. AP Libra (with the Irregular Galaxy of the Chameleon, the Shapeshifter; and Beta Lupus, the Contortionist) can manifest as squirming grotesque creatures or scenarios that seem destructive or poisonous to life, if their transmutational elixirs are required.
AP Libra is not a negative force, it simply is primordial. How we participate with this force is of issue. Avoidance of it can simply result as denial of life, with intensified physical contortions resulting, like cancerous, neurological or sexual related problems both physical and emotional. Participating in and through the carnal aspects of life is a basic lesson for the incarnating (incarnate / in carnal form) soul.
In essence, the stars of this area of the zodiak provide us the opportunity to graduate into a new level of self-realization. In this process, we become aware that we create our experience and are responsible for the life scenarios in which we find ourselves. We shift from feeling helpless, even justifying why we are entrapped as if victims of life, placing blame outside of self, into a greater maturity and wisdom. We learn to express mastery over the dualistic forces that were once entrapping even destructive, living from our greater soul wisdom in unity consciousness (exemplified by Ophiuchus standing over the Scorpion). Here we become fully self-responsible, self-aware, with the ability to use and direct the creative forces of life and define our own destiny.
From our Aries New Moon theme, of taking personal action for self, we come to our Full Moon point of realization in the lunar cycle, here bringing us to a new level of self-realization and self-empowerment. We come to realize how we create our experience and must learn to apply our personal creativity using the raw and powerful forces governing life and death in a way that supports all of humanity and that leads us to greater freedom and wellbeing in the world.
Mars and Jupiter begin a new 2.25-year synodic cycle on May 18-19, just before the Disseminating Moon. Mars and Eris begin a new 1.9-year cycle on May 21, just after the Disseminating Moon. These events precede and act as triggers to the upcoming main event, which is the start of a new Jupiter-Eris 12-year synodic cycle that will begin on June 4, 2011, in the following lunar cycle (also to be triggered by Mercury and Venus).
Jupiter and Eris are less than 2° from their synod. The Mars-Jupiter Synod conjoins Revati of Pisces and Eris conjoins Baten Kaitos of Cetus, of course the two stars conjoin. Eris, south of the ecliptic in Cetus, conjoins Revati and Baten Kaitos (geocentrically) from about 2000 through 2020. See Eris star maps on this page.
Revati, Zeta Pisces, literally means riches, money, wealth, and financial resources. Prominent alignments with Revati can indicate material wealth gained from participating in the dramatic psycho-emotional world of human affairs--where the bucks are. This zodiakal longitude is a couple of degrees to that of Baten Kaitos, the belly of ole Cetus, where the transformative process occurs while in the whale of human emotional experience. Revati and Baten Kaitos also mark the exalted seat of Venus--bringing attention to the relation of the flow of abundance, emotional clarity, and living from the heart. Venus rules money and assets; and Venus (especially its retrogrades) dramatically influences the stock market, as is well know in astrological market forecasting.
Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, is the whale of human emotional experience. Baten Kaitos is the belly of ole' Cetus. South of Baten Kaitos is Fornax (the furnace), which provides the perpetual fire (digestive juices) for our transmutation while participating in the belly of ole' Cetus--in the wet, sensual, and emotional world of human affairs. Alignments with Baten can indicate the need to embrace the emotional aspects of mortal life and to emerge in transmuted form. The value here is to be able to participate from the wisdom of having been there, and to claim the potential rewards, the abundance that life has to offer in all of its forms (Venus / heartspace).
Mars
Mars is an initiating creative force, of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self-reliance, and is victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, or when poorly placed in a chart, Mars can express as the awry or ballistic use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (sacrum, base chakra, adrenals sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people--due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life; hence often dubbed the planet of war. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality / base chakra of self--alienating it even more.
Jupiter
Jupiter imparts a mobilizing and expansive force. It stimulates fluidity in movement, vitality and enthusiasm. It is of reciprocity--how we receive and re-express that which we have gained as gifts to the world. Jupiter expresses in openness and willingness to touch, palpate and embrace life, people and experience. It imparts a kinesthetic and magnetic quality; and reveals our physical fitness, strength and coordination.
Jupiter motivates us to aspire for something larger in our lives, beyond our current bounds. Jupiter will tend to magnify and expand the qualities of any other planet that it conjoins. Jupiter is often associated with money, but not as much as Venus. This is because Jupiter is a mobilizing force and money is a mobilizing agent.
Jupiter is of higher or natural law, as compared to man’s laws. It is of Spiritual Truth and stimulates action upon our greater truth. Jupiter is serendipitous, opportunistic, fortunate and lucky; with taste for and appreciation of elegance end beauty (along with Venus). It is fun loving, good natured, free and independent. Jupiter provides the ability to participate freely in the material world and in universal flow.
Eris
Eris, the Great Disruptor, has a radical and interceding nature, overturning our current perception, but with purpose, so we may expand and redefine our perceptual view of the reality in which we live. Eris, discovered in 2005 in Cetus, was responsible for the formation of the new “Dwarf Planet” classification and the reclassification of Pluto to Dwarf Planet status, the family to which Eris, Pluto and the asteroid Ceres now belong. This caused quite a commotion in both the astronomical and astrological communities. However, this proved to be appropriate as additional new Dwarf Planets were discovered shortly afterward.
Eris demonstrated, right from the start, her no-nonsense astrological role as the great disruptor. Although the discovery of Eris created discord at first, a new order followed with the new classification of Dwarf Planets (fitting to the theme of her daughter Eunomia). This is significant when considering Eris’ astrological character.
Discordant Eris provokes change by upsetting the status quo, by upsetting the apple cart. More about Eris.
The Mars-Jupiter-Eris cycles stimulate mobilizing and expansive creative action in leadership. They may stimulate wide-sweeping changes that help to further deconstruct our existing fear-based, fear-instilling and power-hungry bureaucratic and economic paradigm. Our challenge is, and will be over the years ahead, to recreate a new world view and paradigm supportive of the newly emerging and integrated masculine / feminine consciousness on Earth; to emerge from the tumultuous drowning waters of our current economic system--fitting to our Aries lunar cycle theme.
These new cycles may also catalyze creative movement and expansion from the ruins of the past, from what has already been deconstructed, especially financially and in our economic paradigm.
Venus and Uranus begin a new 226-day synodic cycle on May 19-20, just several hours before the Disseminating Moon. Mars and Uranus began their new synodic cycle in the previous lunar cycle. The star alignments setting the theme of this synod are the same (Scheat of Pegasus; Alpha Sculptoris and The Sculptor Galaxy). This synod occurs in early sidereal Pisces and conjoins the vernal point of Earth’s Precessional Cross. Uranus’ passage over the vernal point starting in March and continuing through the rest of this year creates a primary activation of the Precessional Cross, of our portal of evolutionary change in Earth’s ~25,000-year precessional cycle.
Uranus’ passage over the vernal point stimulates a radical departure from the conformity of the past at a global and evolutionary level. Water related events catalyzing radical change could be expected to continue throughout the year. The Venus trigger occurring now is not as dramatic as the Mars trigger. However, this new 226-day synodic cycle, continuing through January 1, 2012 stimulates a radical change of Heart and with the feminine expression in the world and in our lives. Both the Mars-Uranus cycle and the Venus-Uranus cycle impel a radical change in how we are using our life force in the world, and a change between the masculine and feminine forces in the world.
Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on May 20 in sidereal Sagittarius and conjoins Vega of Lyra; Alphecca Meridiana, Alpha, and Beta Corona Aus.; and Arkab, Ascella and Nunki of Sagittarius.
Arkab and Alrami embody the foundation aspects of the Zen Archer. Arkab, on the calf muscle of leg, inspires action on our greater spiritual truth, a truth upheld and fought for by the Zen Archer. Arkab supports us to act energetically upon the myriad of opportunities leading to the fulfillment of our souls. Alrami, the knee of the archer, indicates the spiritual transmutation made possible by such demonstrable action; the ability to fearlessly embrace transformation--to let the old die and the new to emerge.
Nunki, Sigma Sag, (and Phi of Sagittarius at the Archer's hand), marks the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted focus, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to direct the Zen Archer's arrow.
Ascella, Zeta Sagittarius, is a binary star system, and is the third brightest star in Sagittarius. Although, traditionally meaning the armpit, or more succinctly, the junction of the archer's shoulder and the outstretched arm holding the bow, along which the archer takes aim, Ascella lies more so at the breast or heart of the Centaur, slightly south of Nunki. The two stars are about one degree in ecliptical longitude, thus tightly conjoined. Ascella embodies the heart of the Zen Archer, not the physical heart, but the Archer's power of intent--the truth within from which he lives.
Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transferred into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articulates the combined qualities of vision and high ideals with the inherent force and power applied with undaunted focus to achieve our ideals and visions. There must be movement / velocity for the fletching of an arrow (Nunki) to steer the arrow’s course. Thus we must not only access our intent of purpose, but we must move it, apply it with focused deliberation through conscious action from a place of stability and confidence to transform our intent of purpose into the manifestation of our greater ideals and visions.
Several star qualities amalgamate around the Zen Archer's hand holding the taunt arrow: Nunki (Sigma), Phi, Ascella (Zeta), Tau, Nu, and Xi of Sagittarius. This is the warrior's core energy in its full potential, drawn and ready to release, provoking action that is life supportive--hence the spiritual warrior. This location marks the central vertical golden essence of the Archer, a point of equipoise and balance. It is where we align all of the light fibers of our being into a coherent whole and focus that totality in controlled action.
Ascella and Nunki conjoin Alphecca Meridiana (Alpha), Beta and Gamma of Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, which is composed of a semi-circle of stars that lies just under the Zen Archer. "Hipparchos new (Corona Australis) as the Caduceus of Hermes (the Egyptian Thoth)--(a staff entwined by two serpents topped with with gold wings); or Herald's Wand of Peace (from the Greek karykeion); and Ptolemy simply saw it as the Southern Wreath; as it was also illustrated by Bayer. It was illustrated as a plain heart-shaped object in the Alfonsine Tables. It has also been referred to as the Crown of Sagittarius (Corona Sagittarii), originating from the outspreading sun's rays in crown like form shown around the Gandharvas, the Aryan celestial horses that are suggested to be the forerunners to the Centaurs." (Allen). The Gandharvas were all male and the mates of the all female Apsaras, both of a pure unadulterated nature. The Apsaras were akin to beautiful water or forest nymphs, and the Gandharvas were ethereal beings of the air, forests, and mountains known for their musical and mystical skills and skill with the forces of nature. The Gandharvas were also stewards of Soma, the golden nectar or ambrosia of the gods. Thoth / Heremes is also associated with conjoining Lyra, Harp of the Angels, which embodies the artsciences of light, sound and geometry.
Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, underlying and protected by the Archer, embodies the wisdom of alchemy--of using natural forces to manifest a higher order or achieve a higher purpose, ideal or goal. This is an alchemical process; one initiated by evocation. A caduceus in physics uses two polarities or energetic fields in such a way that they cancel each other (how a caduceus coil is wound), which in essence opens a zero-point portal in space and time. This is the wisdom of the Centaurian Archer who establishes the caduceus within--the balanced cancellation of polarity within self, which activates the entwined spiritual currents (kundalini) up the spine, which in turn illuminates the pineal in the brain. This opens the perfect path in space through which the archer's arrow hits its target of unified consciousness (galactic awareness). With additional mastery, one can use the illumined pineal as a portal through which one can travel, transcending space and time.
Vega of Lyra in the northern heavens conjoins Arkab of Sagittarius. The stars of Lyra embody various facets of the artsciences of harmonics in light, sound, color, and geometry--particularly the wisdom of the artsciences. They are of vision, creativity, and inspire all that is of multi-media, the arts, and higher education.
Lyra is the Lyre of Hermes, originally bestowed with the qualities to invoke and communicate the messages of the gods. As the harp of the angelic messengers, its tuning and voice not only impart beauty, beneficence, eloquence, and sensibility to the Zen Archer, but specifically translate divine information into vibration that supports transmutational healing and the spiritual awakening of consciousness. More about Lyra and the Lyre.
Lyra, and prominent alignments with Lyra, often indicate involvement with the music of the spheres, that is, the use of natural astronomically and resonant harmonics for healing, illumination, and for greater evolutionary purpose. Prominent alignments and aspects to Lyra are often found in musicians, artists and those involved with art and sciences behind multi-media projects--those with intent to use those art-sciences for healing and the expansion of consciousness. Lyra embodies the wisdom of the application of natural harmonics in light and sound through time in geometric proportion--all working intelligently together.
Our Disseminating Moon is about steering our intent and applied power in action. It is about focusing our intent in conscious action to move through our bounds of limitation to achieve our greater goals and ideals in life. It also articulates our capacity to open our perceptual ability (pineal) to see beyond the illusory bounds of the solidified world, to see the world as light, and to fluidly emerge into the multiplicity of opportunity available to us, articulated by conjoining Vega, the Harp Star.
Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on May 24 in sidereal Aquarius, nesting between Neptune and Chiron.
The Moon conjoins Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis; Sadalmelik and Ancha of Aquarius; Enif of Pegasus; and Deneb of Cygnus.
Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer, nourishes the body of humanity, articulated by Pisces Australis and the star Fomalhaut. Pisces Aus (The southern fish) articulates the body of humanity, human society, and Fomalhaut is its mouth, both through which the Aquarian waterman pours its nourishment, and through which humanity speaks. Those with prominent Fomalhaut placements have a need to speak for humanity as a whole and about humanity's fundamental needs. They seek ways to create an evolved universal human society, one free from segregations. One of the "Four Royal Architects," Fomalhaut is the administrative seat of the aquatic quadrant of the heavens. Fortuitous Fomalhaut embodies the essence of sidereal Aquarius--inspiring future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society and the essence of philanthropy. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. It is of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition. The word 'social' is derived from the Old French or the Latin 'socialis', meaning 'allied', or from 'socius' meaning 'friend'-- good words to describe the essence of Fomalhaut and Aquarius. Here all are recognized as allied friends, as one human family.
Sadalmelik, Alpha Aquarius, is the "lucky one of the kingdom." Sadalmelik creates an air of recognition and acceptance in the kingdom of human affairs--especially for those involved in the arts and sciences. Sadalmelik brings fortuitous opportunity for those with humanitarian interest, and who are in those arenas where such interest can be expressed. Ancha, Theta Aquarius, just below Sadalmelik is the waterbearer's talisman on his belt or thigh and articulates this fortuitous capacity for fulfillment. Ancha is of knowledge, secrets, science, research, writing, scribes, teachers, record-keepers and mediators, and the articulation of intelligence.
Lying in the northern heavens upon the galactic equator we find Cygnus the Swan, also called the Northern Galactic Cross. Deneb, tail of the swan, is the principal star of Cygnus and marks the top (head) of the northern galactic cross. Like Sadr, heart of the swan, Deneb lies along the galactic plane, but is quite close to the most northern point along the galactic plane--the primordial origin--which marks the location of Earth's pole at the start of Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle. This is a point of unity consciousness in the "evolutionary cycle of the soul," which is created by Earth's precessional cycle. This is where Earth's pole lies at rest, infused in the plane of galactic light. Deneb is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters as Earth's pole lifts itself from its slumber in Earth's precessional cycle. It thus is the messianic head of the precessional Cycle of the Holy Cross--of the evolutionary cycle of the soul. Administrative Deneb, a star more than a hundred times the diameter of our Sun, with a very high luminosity, governs the first of the seven heavens (evolutionary epochs) in the Earth's precessional cycle. Deneb embodies our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence before fragmentation into race, sex, or creed. Deneb inspires us to stand in the awareness of our pure soul essence, in this wholeness and to participate from the maturity of unity consciousness, unbiased and beyond the segregations and categorizations common to modern-day mass-consciousness.
South and under the Waterbearer, is Sculptoris, referring to the sculptor's studio. Sculptor articulates the environment and type of work that is being supported by the humanitarian resources flowing from the Urn--that of the arts and sciences, but also the sculpting of a beautiful and bountiful human society, both physically and spiritually.
Our Last Quarter Moon inspires a need to heal the human condition especially through the arts and sciences. It inspires change that serves this purpose personally and in the world at large. It inspires altruistic support of efforts that serve to create a wholesome and evolved human society. It also impels us to make changes in our lives or to cross a bridge based upon dreams and visions that may have been gestating for the last couple of years.
Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on May 28 and exactly conjoins Eris in sidereal Pisces. The Moon conjoins Baten Kaitos of Cetus and Revati of Pisces, presented above.
Our coalescing Moon brings us to our summation of this lunar cycle and sets the seed for the next. It brings our attention to the deconstruction of our past modality of living and to the construction of the new, which may be about our personal lives but also of the world at large. It may bring our attention to the dismantling of the old bureaucratic patriarchal greed-based monster of collective consciousness, to issues of how we feed it, and to our need to emerge from it and to sculpt a new heartspace.
Thus, the seed coalesces for this lunar cycle, which will sprout anew in the following lunar cycle. The asteroid Pallas begins its retrograde on May 31, a day before the New Moon. Our next New Moon occurs on June 1, 2011 conjoining Aldebaran in mid-sidereal Taurus. More to come then.
