The Lunar Theme for the
July 1, 2011 New Moon

Commencement, Cooperation & Communication

The Lunar Month of
July 1, 2011 - July 30, 2011

Nick Anthony Fiorenza

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Lunar Cycle Overview

The New Moon (a Partial Solar Eclipse) of July 1, 2011 occurs in mid-sidereal Gemini. Conjoining stars include Alhena and Alzirr of Gemini, the foot of Pollux of the Twins, Castor and Pollux; and Mebsuta of Castor. Additional conjoining stars include Beta Monoceros and the Rosetta Nebula, all of the Unicorn; a Quasar in Auriga the Charioteer; and Urodelus of northern Ursa Minor.

This lunar cycle marks a turning point, a time of departure and commencement regarding that which we have been working on for some time now, or regarding new opportunities presenting themselves. It is a time of getting off the fence of indecision, a time to get on with it. That which we put into action now may precede and prepare us for greater events to come.

Our First Quarter Moon conjoining the newly discovered Dwarf Planet Haumea (pronounced how-MAY-ah) in sidereal Virgo brings external stimulus to action to create a new birth in our lives.

Uranus and the Dwarf Planet Ceres begin their synchronous retrogrades in this lunar cycle. Uranus has been transiting a key point in the zodiak over these last many months--the vernal point of Earth's Precessional Cross--and now along with the presence of Ceres, this inspires radical change and challenge to create new and alternative modalities of living, and nurturing ways of participating in the world.

The Full Moon occurring under the auspices of Lyra in late sidereal Sagittarius lies opposite the Sun's conjunction with Varuna in late sidereal Gemini, another newly discovered planetary body in our solar system. Varuna impels our return to natural law and to nature's way. Varuna inspires us to surrender the forced ways and laws of man that are not attuned to the natural flow of life, and it brings our attention to the ecology of life, including our agricultural needs. The Varuna-Sun Moon opposition also forms a dynamic and catalyzing T-square with Eris, the great disruptor and reorganizer. Varuna and Eris in a long-standing square, mark the action point of "stimulus to action" in a cycle that began in 1929.

Juno and the newly discovered Dwarf Planet Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh) also conjoin on the Full Moon, on the cusp of sidereal Virgo, bringing our attention to the administration or resources in our partnerships.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more, the underlying cycles upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

"The stars would not be in the heavens if we were meant to walk in darkness."

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

New Moon Phase Characteristics

The New Moon Lunar Theme

The July 1, 2011 Partial Solar Eclipse is an eclipse that no one will see. It occurs in the Antarctic Ocean quite south of Africa. It is the first eclipse of Saros Cycle #156. This new eclipse family will produce 69 eclipses from 2011 through 3237 (spanning 1226.05 years). It starts with 8 partial eclipses, followed by 52 annular eclipses, and will end with 9 more partials.

Eclipse Map: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OH2011.html#SE2011Jul01P
For details about Saros 156 see: eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEsaros/SEsaros156.html

Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave in the lunar spiral of growth. They offer a time to resynchronize ourselves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness.

Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play, or how we articulate ourselves, in the world. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression. They often mark a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.

Lunar eclipses tend to be about releasing the emotional bonds within ourselves that reach out and glue us to involvements that are less than we truly want or deserve. They are about the emotional and experiential aspects of our relations with others and with the world--how we feel about and palpate life. Lunar eclipses provide opportunity for an emotional release, a fresh start.

Where eclipses occur in your natal chart reveal the area of your personal life in which they are working.

Our New Moon Eclipse of July 1, 2011 occurs in mid-sidereal Gemini conjoining Alhena and Alzirr of Gemini, the foot of Pollux of the Twins, Castor and Pollux; and Mebsuta and Theta of Castor. Additional conjoining stars include Beta Monoceros, the Rosetta Nebula and the Cone Nebula, all of the Unicorn; a Quasar in Auriga the Charioteer; and Urodelus of northern Ursa Minor. Also of influence is Mirzam of Canis Major.

"The Twins" are marked by the two principal stars: Pollux, the immortal extraterrestrial one, and Castor the mortal terrestrial one, the extraterrestrial incarnate. These two stars, which mark the Twins' heads, lie in the last few degrees of sidereal Gemini. The Twins stand upon the galactic equator at a 60° angle to the ecliptic plane, with the "Feet of the Twins" lying in earlier Gemini, upon the "Gate of Man". Thus, Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind--the theme of the Gate of Man. Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange. The Twins are of partnerships in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, one of linking and uniting through our daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.

Gemini New Moon Star Chart for July1, 2011

Alhena, Gamma Gemini, and Alzirr, Xi Gemini, mark the feet of Pollux. Alhena is the brand, mark or seal, a marking stone for the unfoldment of what lies ahead. Alhena indicates a milestone or a turning point has been reached or is to be acknowledged. Alhena indicates the need to get off the fence of indecision, to drop any hesitation, as the "time is at hand" to go forth anew. It marks a time of commencement.

As the brand, Alhena also indicates that the time, events, or relations are marked or may be destined. Alhena can also manifest simply as a unique sign, indicating an opportunity at hand. Alhena can also indicate one is physically marked in some way that makes one stand out. This can be a brand or specific seal of some sort, which creates a specific resonance, a link of communication for the fulfillment of one's incarnate mission, or even for the arrival and departure of extraterrestrial craft.

As the dividing star of the sidereal sign of Gemini, Alhena invites a separation, a leaving, a departure, and a new commencement, even an exodus or liftoff--to move on and engage in a new level of participation. Behaviorally, Alhena impels leaving an older or less fulfilling way of participation, one more associated with the managerial day-to-day details, associated with Castor, to one more administrative and spiritual, associated with Pollux the ambassador.

Alhena can also indicate the need to sign a document or legalize a project, involvement, or commitment, which makes it possible to engage in a new level of involvement.

Alhena also conjoins Mebsuta of Castor and Theta Gemini, the hand of Castor. Mebsuta and Theta inspire the action upon our immediate and short-term goals at hand; the activity required to get things done in our daily lives and in the world of commerce and communication. Conjoining Urodelus, Epsilon of northern Ursa Minor, imparts an overtly pronounced, blatant, unmistakable and eye-catching expression.

Mirzam, Beta Canis Major, is the "Scout of Sirius." Mirzam conjoins both Alhena, the foot of Pollux (which marks the time to get off the fence of indecision and take action), and Tejat, the foot of Castor. Mirzam provides a message to redirect our focus and daily efforts to prepare and become ready for a greater change to come, for a greater action, involvement, or event, an arrival of global proportion (indicated by Sirius).

Mirzam also conjoins Beta Monoceros, the Rosetta Nebula and the Cone Nebula of Monoceros the Unicorn; and the Quasar OH471 of Auriga the charioteer. Beta Monoceros Nebulas indicate a unique opportunity, one unexpected and magical that may be obscured or hidden, but which may appear seemingly out of nowhere, perhaps marked in a unique eye-catching or unmistakable way, an opportunity that can bring fragmented pieces into a greater unified effort.

Our last lunar cycle had us looking at the fundamental infrastructures in our lives, and how they support us. The three eclipses (two solar and one lunar) mark new 6-month phase in our lunar spiral of growth--a new beginning. This lunar cycle marks a turning point, a time of departure and commencement regarding that which we have been working on for some time now or regarding new opportunities presenting themselves. It is a time of getting off the fence of indecision, a time to get on with it. If you are at a fork in the road, it is time to choose. That which we put into action now may precede and prepare us for greater events to come.

Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Crescent Moon of July 4 occurs in early sidereal Leo under the auspices of the Head of the Lion. It conjoins Adhafera and Al Jabhah of Leo; Alphard of Hydra; Alpha and Beta Pyxidis of Argo Navis; Suhail Al Muhlif on Velorum, the sail of the Argo; and the Pupis-A Super-Nova Remnant

The Lion faces west, with its head looking over into sidereal Cancer with Algieba (the mane), Adhafera (on the crest of the mane), Rasalas (the crown), and Algenubi (the eye) all composing the Lion's head. The star Subra, just south of the ecliptic and reaching into sidereal Cancer, is the Lion's paw buried in the desert sand. Regulus (at 5° Leo) is considered the Heart or Essence of the Lion.

The stars forming the head of the Lion embody the wisdom of the Lion. They express in eloquence and beauty. Adhafera, the Lion's main and Al Jabhah, Eta Leo, articulate more of the brain or mind of the Lion, the Lion's persona and how the Lion thinks--perhaps with a sense of aloneness yet with audacious and undaunted confidence, and with genuine pride.

Here we find the trail-blazers, those willing to leave the comfort of mass-consensus, who are self-reliant to step forth into unexplored territory; the ones who look for and can envision new horizons, those who discover new possibilities waiting to be realized.

Often time the work of such adventures and trail-blazers is rarely seen until others later follow or make popular that which they have found, or until time itself brings the future into the present awareness of the masses. These way-showers are sometimes long gone, continuing over the next horizon, rarely to be seen. They may or may not be recognized for their tremendous, relentless and lonely pursuits, and they may or may not become famous, but the roads and doorways they open pave the way for others to come, and make possible future generations' evolutionary unfoldment. They go for gold and claim the crown.

Alphard, Alpha Hydra, is the "Solitary One." Alphard inspires us to step away from the comfort and security of the accepted and agreed upon consensus defining our known reality, to walk a lone path. It asks us to risk our reputations, our work, our lives, and our beliefs, driven by the passion within our hearts, to find new answers to the challenges that we face as we struggle to evolve. Alphard, in conjunction with the head of the Lion, is often of those who, for one reason or another, have self-exiled themselves from the norm, who stand alone, or are willing to, yet who create new ways that the masses would not otherwise pursue.

Argo Navis, the ship in the mythical story of Jason and the Argonauts, sails in the southern heavens along the Galactic Equator. Stars of the Argo are of our greater galactic purpose and soul mission--of seeking our evolutionary fulfillment, of fulfilling our soul purpose on Earth. Pyxidis, a sub-constellation of the Argo, is the Crow's Nest (also compass) of the galactic ship, from which we scout for distant land. Alpha and Beta Pyxidis enter the ecliptic just into sidereal Leo.

Alpha and Beta Pyxidis ask us to peer beyond what is visible, beyond the common world, and to navigate through potential problems or obstacles upon our exploration. Pyxidis inspires us to find the map obscured in the sand, to see the picture waiting to emerge from the obscuring fog into visible sight, and to take an abode, place, vantage, or perspective from which we can see and find distant lands.

Pyxidis indicates a discovery process is at had, one that requires patience, foresight, and perceptual attentiveness. Although this often is a lonely process, it is one serving our greater evolutionary journey, and as well, the journeys of our colleagues and companions. Pyxidis has little interest in the superfluous pursuits of the common world, always seeking new ground, looking forward, gazing ahead through time, to see through the present limitations into the depths of what can yet become.

Pyxidis asks us to be a master observer. Present with our attention, insatiably on the lookout, we must be forever attentive to our greater journey, plotting the course, seeking the path to realize the dream of our highest potential destiny.

The Suhail stars of Velorum, on the sail of the Argo, are always indicative of refined subtle energies or currents at work that function at the level of the soul's greater evolutionary journey--those transcendent to the dramatics of the terrestrial incarnational world. These are the currents those found breaking trail often attune to.

"Suhail, among the Persians, is synonymous for wisdom; as in the Al Anwar i Suhaili, the Lights of Canopus. Also a personal title taken in Arabia as a symbol for what is brilliant, glorious and beautiful." (Allen)

Suhail al Muhlif is Suhail of the Oath. Conjoining is the Pup-A Supernova Remnant of Puppis on the stern of the Argo, which enters the ecliptic just before Regulus. Both entries add a transcendent galactic (soul-level) context to the conjoining theme of Alphard of the Hydra, the solitary one, and the stars creating the head of the Lion.

Suhail al Muhlif and Pup-A are indicative of soul oaths made and set in motion long ago, of soul level missions set out upon that transcend one's incarnational sojourn--missions to open doorways and portals which allow us to reach for and achieve a greater fullness in life. The soul oaths taken are to maintain our personal integrity to our souls' directives, to see to our evolutionary fulfillment in regard to our purposes in the world--to be of the Kahi Nub of Canopus, meaning the Golden Earth--to become what is beautiful and glorious. Pup-A also provides the inspiration and motivation to demonstrably live our soul oaths, to stand forth humble yet proud in that purpose.

Our Crescent Moon impels us to step forth as adventures to break trail into new areas of our lives. It may indicate a lone or new path in life, one not embarked upon before, perhaps one not even entirely clear. Such bold action requires we have self-confidence and conviction of purpose. It may indicate a path chosen at soul-level or one agreed upon to pursue with others, with need to invoke our deeper purposes and/or desires in life.

First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on July 8 in sidereal Virgo. The Moon conjoins Saturn (Porrima, Vindemiatrix, Corvus) just a few hours before First Quarter. The Moon conjoins Haumea exactly on the phase shift.

The Saturn bio-Harmonic Audio Meditation

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, the day leading into the First Quarter Moon is an ideal time to work with the Saturn audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.

Saturn

Saturn is of structure, form and time. Saturn's force tends to solidify and concretize, to halt that which is moving. Saturn is slow and methodical. It imparts a need to be responsible, accountable, dependable and stable. Saturn also forces us to confront our fears and address our karmic issues.

Saturn, in its clear and evolved expression, provides the ability to create a solid foundation and stable form. It brings the capacity for concentration and moderation and the ability to apply past principles and knowledge constructively. Saturn instills confidence in one's knowledge; and honors family and soul heritage. More about Saturn.

Haumea

The Dwarf Planet Haumea (pronounced how-MAY-ah) was discovered on Dec 28, 2004. Haumea has two moons, Hi'iaka (pronounced HEE-'ee-AH-kah) and Namaka (pronounced nah-MAH-kah).

Haumea is the goddess of childbirth and fertility in Hawaiian mythology. Her many children sprang from different parts of her body. She takes many different forms and has experienced many different rebirths. Martha Warren Beckworth suggests the name Haumea more naturally comes from Hanaumea, meaning "sacred birth." Hence we have an essence of "purity" or a birth of specialness, the ability to produce a fresh or clear state of consciousness.

Haumea's propensity is to intercede with dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise to support a new birth in consciousness, especially the use of the fundamental primordial forces of life. Haumea also appears to motivate action to reorient world powers' militaristic destructive use of power and resources into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family; and that aids humanity's emergence into a spiritually and primordial aware state of being. At a personal level, Haumea inspires the application of our personal attributes and resources for these same principles. More about Haumea.

The Pluto-Haumea Synodic Cycle of 1955

Pluto and Haumea began a new synodic cycle in 1955 in early sidereal Leo, with the Pluto-conjunction occurring throughout 1954-1955. People born at that time of or after the Pluto-Haumea synod have entered into an entirely new cycle and energetic. A Pluto-Haumea synod is a very rare event, with the next to occur in about 3500 A.D., thus creating a very long cycle (~1545 years). The theme of this Pluto-Haumea cycle, under the auspices of the Head of the Lion, and for those generations following the 1955 synod, in general, inspires a new birth in consciousness built upon integrity in leadership, with impetus to deconstruct the old form of leadership.

The Sombrero Galaxy M104 in Virgo conjoining Algorab of Corvus

The Sombrero Galaxy M104 in Virgo

"Messier 104 is the 104th object in the famous catalogue of nebulae by French astronomer Charles Messier (1730 - 1817). It was not included in the first two editions (with 45 objects in 1774; 103 in 1781), but Messier soon thereafter added it by hand in his personal copy as a "very faint nebula". The recession velocity, about 1000 km/sec, was first measured by American astronomer Vesto M. Slipher at the Lowell Observatory in 1912; he was also the first to detect the galaxy's rotation." This ESO PR Photo of the Sombrero Galaxy was obtained with FORS1 multi-mode instrument at VLT ANTU on January 30, 2000. It is a composite of three exposures in different wavebands. The Haumea First Quarter Moon conjoins Kraz of Corvus, Seginus of Bootes; Beta Volans; and the Quasar 3C279 in Virgo; the Sombero Galaxy in Virgo; and the meridian of the North Galatic Pole (NGP). This is also the ecliptical longitude of Eris Perihelion and Jupiter's Aphelion.

Corvus is of high intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, insight and adaptability. The brains of Ravens are among the largest of any bird species. They are problem solvers, inventors and are highly opportunistic. Corvus is the keeper of secrets and a knowledge holder, but is also a prophetic revealer--the "raven messenger bird" to those who are spiritually and physically attuned, and who ask and listen. Corvus reminds us to pay attention to the signs or messages naturally expressing through the world around us moment-by-moment. The signs found in the simplest of life experience can have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally invokes a response from the world around us. Corvus is a protector as well, of both the animal and human worlds, and will forewarn of approaching danger to avert unnecessary mishaps, as well as to affirm fortuitous opportunities, meetings or events so we may act accordingly. Corvus invites us to maintain acute attentiveness to everything occurring around us; to read the signs in the moment occurring in our everyday lives; and to adapt accordingly.

Conjoining Algorab and Kraz of Corvus is Quasar 3C279, which lies exactly on the ecliptic plane, along the spinal column of the Virgin, its spinal placement again articulating the natural mechanism or neurology of subtle energy communication.

Quasars (Quasi-Stellar-Radio-Source) are not only visible objects, but they emit a wide band of photons (light particles) throughout the electromagnetic spectra, from the infrared up through human's visible range of light, through the ultra-violet (UV), the gamma rays range, and into the radio range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their multi-spectral emanations tend to stimulate an awareness that extends beyond or pierces our rather narrow band of visual perception, thereby offering new non-conforming possibilities of conceptual thought. They can express as images or non-conforming forms that can draw us into a transcendent perceptual exploration, which then motivates new behavior or a new expression fitting to our expanded awareness. In general, we might think of quasars as providing stimulus for alternative creative conception and expression.

Quasar 3C279 can manifest as imagery in the natural world for those perceptive enough that can be interpreted as "messages through nature," which must be listened to and acted upon, as nature's expression is the guidance itself at this zodiakal longitude.

Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with navigational mapping and transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression--the capacity to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into new life expression or realm of consciousness.

Boötes, standing over the Virgin giving birth, is the Virgin's consort and protector. Boötes, the Virgin's consort and protector, is of strength and responsibility. Boötes functions not by outward force but by spiritual awareness and astute intuitive prowess in the application of the knowledge (Nekkar, the Head of Boötes) about environmental issues and transcendent subtle forces. Boötes' action is based from a place of wisdom, receptivity and sensitivity to the situation at hand, action associated with planning, preparation, and strategy.

Seginus, the left shoulder of Boötes, is of strength and responsibility, and it conjoins Muphrid, the left foot of Boötes. Seginus and Muphrid inspire responsible action to provide personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments and physical conditions are created, maintained and not interfered with by meddling forces. Seginus will not hesitate to rebel against manipulative authority; yet this is to ensure an unadulterated and pure birth can occur form the Virgin, that is, so that souls have the opportunity to express their highest potential and can achieve evolutionary fulfillment.

The pre-First Quarter Moon conjoining Saturn on the day of "stimulus to action" may bring forth stimulus regarding the structures in our lives, our responsibilities in life, and it may bring attention to the longer-term ramifications of our actions taken now. It stimulates action to ground and concretize our pursuits with a sense that the time is now or never. Heeding the messages from the natural world around, those facing us in our every-day lives, is of issue.

Our Haumea First Quarter Moon requires our personal attunement and astute attentiveness to the natural world around us; and about acting upon the messages expressing through the natural world to mobilize change in our lives and in our world--opportunities otherwise lost. The actions we now take in this lunar cycle are those that will support a new-birth in our lives and our greater personal and collective fulfillment.

Uranus Retrograde

Uranus begins its 5-month retrograde in sidereal Pisces on July 9 (July 10 GMT). This begins the shift from the previous Earth-Uranus Synodic Cycle into the following, which will begin in the midst of the retrograde on September 25, 2011.

The Uranus bio-Harmonic Audio Meditation

For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonics Audio Meditations, July 9 is an ideal time to work with the Uranus audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.

Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The Gibbous Moon
Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on July 11 in sidereal Scorpio. It conjoins the Head of the Scorpion formed by Dschuba and Graffias of Scorpion. It also conjoins Yed, the hand of Ophiuchus; Alpha Circini and the Circini X-1 X-ray source; and Beta and Delta Chameleon.

Dschuba and Graffias create the head of the Scorpion. Dschuba requires a graduation in consciousness, moving from our repetitive karmic patterns perpetuating an experience of entrapment, a sense of victim consciousness (in the clutches of the Scorpion) to taking personal responsibility for co-creating our reality and evolving out of the patterns of the past. Dschuba impels us to become responsible creators of our lives.

and over the Head of the Scorpion

Standard & High-Def

Yed, the hand of Ophiuchus, conjoins the Head of the Scorpion. Ophiuchus, who stands over the Scorpion, is demonstrable example of one who has attained self-mastery over the raw creative forces of life. Yed, the hand of death, does not refer to a dark sinister force out for our demise, but it does reveal that something must die--an entire modality of being, the personality-level egoic self-importance façade justifying our life experience as if we are victims of life so we can participate from the maturity a soul-awakened being, responsible for our experience, our actions, and their results. Nearby Han, the left knee of Ophiuchus, articulates this transmutational process that must occur in within self.

There are three x-ray sources, Circini X-1; Scorpio X-1, and Hercules X-1 starting at the Head of the Scorpion. They offer an initiatory sequence supporting personal transmutation and self-mastery using the creative forces of life as exemplified by Ophiuchus standing upon the Scorpion. They synthesize with the theme of the Head of the Scorpion.

The Centaur, lying south of the ecliptic, is benevolent teacher of this self-mastery. To live the teachings of the Centaur and to walk the path of the soul requires we take full responsibility for our incarnational experience and master the primal forces creating and destroying life. This first initiatory stargate, Circini X-1, conjoining the head of the Scorpion and lying at the foot of the Centaur upon the Galactic Equator, provides a transmutational force and the opportunity to demonstrate one's choice to walk the higher path of soul, that of self-mastery and self-responsibility. This demonstrable action begins a transmutational process at the experiential-cellular level of self such that soul-level action becomes unquestionably natural. The transformation occurring at the Circini X-1 initiatory phase requires action from the interest in our great path of self mastery in the world, otherwise it make one seem complacent or merely agitated if motive to change or act is from personality interest alone.

Beta and Delta Chameleon separate Cir X-1 from Sco X-1 and Herc X-1 (in ecliptical longitude). They articulate a metamorphic shift where personality facade melts away and soul self emerges. This is a very personal and experiential area of the zodiak regarding conscious use of our creative power and sexual energy for our personal transmutation into our self-mastery. For the less mature, this may express as avoidance, attempting to merely change colors to fit in.

Ultimately, if we pursue a level of personal metamorphosis and self-mastery, beyond the common person, as exemplified by Ophiuchus, we experience an inversion of our perception of the world. This inversion is from seeing self as being entrapped and suppressed by forces that seem to be outside of self, bound by our 3-d realmspace, to establishing the capacity within self to express outwardly through the will of intent so as to direct those forces creating our lives--from the inside out--to consciously steer our creative power to manifest a new reality for ourselves.

This inner metamorphosis is not something done from how we think. It is about spatial dimensionality, allowing a perceptual awakening within self, such that we shed our limiting and previous human mold.

Our Gibbous Moon inspires us to take masterful responsibility to create a new birth in our physical experience; to choose a higher path than the one we were previously on; to morph into a new level of self-mastery.

Juno and Makemake

Juno, asteroid of covenant relations and mutual equality, and the recently discovered Dwarf Planet, Makemake make a onetime conjunction on July 13 (July 14 GMT) on the cusp of sidereal Virgo. This brings attention to the administration of physical resources in our relationships and partnerships and providing mutual support.

Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon
Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization of the Theme

The Eris Varuna-Sun Full Moon T-square &
The First Square in the current Varuna-Eris synodic cycle that began in 1929

Full Moon

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

The Full Moon occurs on July 14 in late sidereal Sagittarius. The Moon resides under the auspices of Lyra, Harp of the Angels. The Sun conjoins Varuna in late sidereal Gemini conjoining Pollux, the ambassador of the Twins. The Varuna-Sun and Moon axis creates an exact T-square to Eris, which resides in late sidereal Pisces.

The Moon conjoins Sulaphat and the Ring Nebula M57 of Lyra; Deneb al Okab (Zeta) and Delta Aquila, the Neutron Star SS433 in Aquila; and the Peacock, Alpha Pavo.

Deneb Al Okab (Zeta Aquila) marks the Eagle's Tail, composed of Zeta Aquila and Epsilon Aquila. Zeta Aquila is the brighter of the two and is the third brightest star in Aquila, next to Altair, Eye of the Eagle, and Tarazed, Altair's companion. Zeta Aquila shines with the brightness of 39 of our suns and has an amazing rotational speed, 165 times the equatorial speed of our sun--that is a rotational speed of about 16 hours.

Conjoining the tail of the Eagle (Zeta Aquila) is SS433, an exotic and dynamic binary star system similar to Cygnus x-3, but emitting twin-corkscrew shaped jets in wavelengths ranging from the optical to the X-ray. A companion star is feeding the collapsed neutron star's accretion disc (shown in the illustration). A neutron star is a super-dense nucleus of a collapsed (dead) star. A slight 20° misalignment of the planes of the binary orbit and the accretion disk causes the disc and its rapidly evolving jets to precess (wobble) over a 162.5-day period and over a large angle. The precession also causes the jets' expanding helical spray.

SS433's primary characteristic is that it produces a dynamic and rapidly evolving expression that extends over the entire light spectrum, thus embracing all aspects of life, from the most primal to the soul/spiritual, without hesitancy and without prejudice or discrimination. It also has a consuming aspect to it, devouring the companion star's life force.

Both the qualities of rapidly rotating Deneb Al Okab and SS433 are fitting with the Eagle's totem and guiding tail of the Eagle. The Eagle, a lone bird, has the ability to rapidly remove itself to vast distances and height to gain an embracing perceptual (global) awareness, and then to steer itself with amazing speed and grace to snatch its target. This is also the location of Pluto's south node, and it articulates the force behind Pluto's active expression in our lives.

Lyra, in the northern heavens, articulates the nature of late Sagittarius. The stars of Lyra embody various facets of the artsciences of harmonics in light, sound, color, and geometry--particularly the wisdom of the artsciences. They are of vision, creativity, and inspire all that is of multi-media, the arts, and higher education.

Lyra is the Lyre of Hermes, originally bestowed with the qualities to invoke and communicate the messages of the gods. As the harp of the angelic messengers, its tuning and voice not only impart beauty, beneficence, eloquence, and sensibility to the Zen Archer, but specifically translate divine information into vibration that supports transmutational healing and the spiritual awakening of consciousness.

Lyra, and prominent alignments with Lyra, often indicate involvement with the music of the spheres, that is, the use of natural astronomically and resonant harmonics for healing, illumination, and for greater evolutionary purpose. Prominent alignments and aspects to Lyra are often found in musicians, artists and those involved with art and sciences behind multi-media projects--those with intent to use those art-sciences for healing and the expansion of consciousness. Lyra embodies the wisdom of the application of natural harmonics in light and sound through time in geometric proportion--all working intelligently together.

Vega, Alpha Lyra, the Harp-Star, and primary star of Lyra is the governing star of this part of the Heavens and of the second of the seven evolutionary epochs in Earth's ~25,000-year evolutionary cycle of the soul.

Vega embodies the essence of angelic Lyra; the spiritual and visionary art of the angels, or angles--meaning the harmonics of light, sound, and geometry applied in sacred proportion through which Divine Intelligence communicates. Fortuitous Vega offers many potential doorways for fulfillment; especially related to paths pursued in the art-sciences applied for healing and personal evolution. Esoterically, Vega is where the unifying harmonic spectral messages of the Elohim culminate--providing a new home of solace for some upon the completion of their galactic journeys.. Vega is stargate to Mansion Universes of Light where a multiplicity of possibilities and opportunities co–exist. Vega and stars of Lyra provide visionary and artistic inspiration; and add to the qualities of Sagittarius to formulate the lofty ideals held by the Zen Archer.

Lyra is also depicted as the Tortoise Lyre, with the resonant structure being the shell from which rise elegant horns upon which seven strings (of Sheliak) are stretched. Sulaphat is the tortoise shell. Sulaphat embodies the principle of resonance in the harmonics of sacred geometry and associated artsciences. Sulaphat embodies all that is of physical resonance and emotional tone. Here we find the inspiration to re-tune the physical and emotional aspects of our lives. We find support to become fully and harmoniously resonant to our spiritual truth, highest ideals and visions, and to express them into demonstrable material manifestation.

The beautiful starseed Ring Nebula M57, a super nova of Lyra, is the result from which many diversionary rays of extraterrestrial starseed races began their evolutionary journey. The Ring Nebula inspires the re-unification of all incarnational sojourns of the soul, and to reciprocate that unified wisdom through the art-sciences.

Alpha Pavo, in the southern heavens and which marks the end of sidereal Sagittarius, is of integration, illumination, and beauty, is enduring and immortal, and brings inspiration to express the beauty that we are and that we truly seek into physical form.

Sun-Varuna

The Sun-Varuna conjunction, opposite the Moon, marks the midpoint of vision and realization of the current Earth-Varuna synodic cycle, which began in mid-January 2011, conjoining Castor and Pollux of the Gemini Twins.

Varuna

Varuna was recently discovered in 2000 at the foot of Castor in sidereal Gemini. As a newly discovered planet, its astrological influence is exploratory. Varuna may impel our return to natural law and to allow nature's way to take its course. Varuna may support us to surrender the forced ways and laws of man that are not attuned to the natural flow of life. Varuna may bring attention to ecological issues of life and impel us to take and stand and to be heard regarding such issues. Mythological Varuna is pro-creative, an activist supportive of life; and is a protector of the people. More about Varuna.

Public Relations and liaison articulates the nature of the Twins--linking individuals together in larger groups or organizations that can serve a purpose far greater than the separate parties can accomplish alone. Here we find motivation for the coordination and exchange of resources and information between individuals and groups, and the planning of more encompassing joint ventures.

The theme of the Earth-Varuna synodic cycle brings attention to creating cooperative ventures supportive of returning to natural law, living in harmony with the ecological world, and in ways that support the people (in contrast to living in discord with the natural world in support of business-political systems at the cost of the people--the old paradigm).

The Eris Varuna-Sun Full Moon T-square

The Varuna-Sun Full Moon T-square with Eris creates a dynamic and revelatory Full Moon. The late Sag Full Moon part of the T-square brings realization about this lunar cycle. The Sun-Varuna conjunction brings realization about Varuna's role in our lives and the current Earth-Varuna synodic cycle. The crux of the T-square is Eris.

NASA Artist's impression of Eris and her Moon Dysnomia

NASA Artist's impression of Eris and her Moon Dysnomia: Eris is the main object, Dysnomia the smaller faint disk just above it. The object top-left is the Sun.

Eris

Eris, the Great Disruptor, has a radical and interceding nature, overturning our current perception, but with purpose, so we may expand and redefine our perceptual view of the reality in which we live. Eris, discovered in 2005 in Cetus, was responsible for the formation of the new "Dwarf Planet" classification and the reclassification of Pluto to Dwarf Planet status, the family to which Eris, Pluto and the asteroid Ceres now belong. This caused quite a commotion in both the astronomical and astrological communities. However, this proved to be appropriate as additional new Dwarf Planets were discovered shortly afterward.

Mythologically, Eris is the Greek god of strife. Eris' daughter, Dysnomia, is the name given to the moon of Eris. Dysnomia is said to be the "spirit of lawlessness"--disruptor of civil order. Eris, however, had two daughters, Dysnomia and the opposite and peaceable one, Eunomia, who ends strife. Dysnomia is also the name given to a nominal recall (dys) disorder--a memory problem associated with naming (nouns); the inability to retrieve names when needed--"its on the tip of my tongue."

Eris demonstrated, right from the start, her no-nonsense astrological role as the great disruptor. Although the discovery of Eris created discord at first, a new order followed with the new classification of Dwarf Planets (fitting to the theme of her daughter Eunomia). This is significant when considering Eris' astrological character.

Discordant Eris provokes change by upsetting the status quo, by upsetting the apple cart. Although Eris can create a disrupting commotion, upsetting our existing, limiting and antiquated structures of consciousness. She opens us to see beyond the finite bounds of our current perception, beyond the bounds we place upon ourselves by arousing and challenging our egoic defenses. In doing so, we are left to redefine and reorganize our world view to embrace a far vaster reality--a view more fitting to our rapidly expanding awareness.... More about the Eris.

Vaurna and Eris, (both being very slow movers) maintain a square relationship over many years. This is the first square (90°) in a very long Varuna-Eris synodic cycle, with the exact synodic square (heliocentric) occurring in August of 2010. Thus, we are in the "external stimulus to action" phase shift in the Varuna-Eris synodic cycle. The last many years, leading into mid-2010 was the "external stimulus" part of this shift; and we have now entered the "action" part of the shift, as we start to move into the second "action" quarter of this cycle.

Interestingly the Varuna-Eris synodic cycle began in late 1929 conjoining Diphda of Cetus (in early sidereal Pisces). Diphda (Beta Ceti) is the trashing tail of the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. Ceutus is the sea monster about to devour Andromeda in the story of Andromeda and the Royal family. Diphda creates a strong emotional turbulence, bringing the potential to get knocked down and thrashed around due to the inability to lift one's self (fly) above (Algenib-wing of Pegasus) the dramatics of the intense psycho-emotional forces of the human world and its bureaucracies. The stars of Cetus comprise a principal part of the theme of sidereal Pisces.

Conjoining Diphda are Eta Cepheus and Eta Horologium. They articulate that there is impending time and the need for aid to slip by the dangers of the trashing tail.

1929 was time of the Wall Street Crash, triggering the Great Depression in the U.S.

Now, as the nature of Eris and Varuna are emerging into the awareness of human consciousness with their recent discoveries, we have our stimulus to action to create solution to our techno-bureaucratic mess, with Eris helping to upset the apple cart so a reorganization can occur, and with Varuna (conjoining the Twins, Castor and Pollux), inviting action to link and liaison in our world of business and commerce for solution that supports the people to live in attunement to natural ecological-based law.

Our Full Moon may bring us far-reaching and embracing realizations about the changes we are making and need to make in our lives and in our world paradigm, especially about extracting ourselves from entrapment in the old-world techno-bureaucratic monster and our need to return to a wholesome and natural way of life in business and commerce. It brings us the creative inspiration to see the multiplicity of opportunity available to us to move forward individually and collectively; and it brings attention to the need to get of the fence of indecision and to step forth into the changes occurring in our lives that are in front of each of us--a time of commencement.

The Sun enters sidereal Cancer on July 17 (July 18 GMT).

Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The Disseminating Moon
Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on July 18 (July 19 GMT) in the midst of sidereal Aquarius. It conjoins Hydor, Skat and Zeta of Aquarius; Zeta Phoenix; and V407 in Cygnus.

Aquarius is of vision and creativity, revolutionary and unpredictable, original and innovative. Aquarians support "the future well being of Humanity." They are visionaries seeking to support humanitarian pursuits especially in the arts and sciences, an evolved societal structure, that which the nourishing flowing waters of the Waterbearer are intended.

An unusually bright and unexpected outburst from what was thought to be a normal star in the constellation Cygnus was detected by two Japanese astronomers, Koichi Nishiyama (Fukuoka, Japan) and Fujio Kabashima (Saga, Japan), in images taken on March 10, 2010 (10:48 UT). An independent discovery of this outburst was also made by Tadashi Kojima. This indicates a slow nova outburst that may have been in progress since 1936. Its significant placement in the heavens makes this a profound and timely discovery--like a bright focused light turning on in human consciousness.

A Nova, or any type of stellar explosion such as that occurring with V407 of Cygnus, brings attention to, excites, and energizes the zodiakal longitude of the stellar burst. V407 Cygni lies in the northern heavens along the galactic equator just past the very primary and principle star, Deneb of Cygnus (06° 31' past Deneb and 01° 30' south of Deneb, in ecliptical longitude and latitude). This close proximity to Deneb brings a significant emphasis to the astrological qualities of Deneb as well.

Deneb, the principal star of Cygnus, is the tail of the swan, or the top (head) of the Northern Galactic Cross. Deneb lies exactly on the galactic equator and is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters in Earth's precessional cycle. It is the messianic head of the precessional Cycle of the Holy Cross--of the evolutionary cycle of the soul. Administrative Deneb, a star more than a hundred times the diameter of our Sun, with a very high luminosity, governs the first of the seven heavens--the first epoch in Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle. Deneb embodies our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence before fragmentation into race, sex, or creed. Deneb inspires us to stand in the awareness of our pure soul essence, in this wholeness and to participate from the maturity of unity consciousness, unbiased and beyond the segregations and categorizations common to modern-day mass-consciousness.

V407 Cygni conjoins Hydor, Lamda Aquarius, and also Zeta Phoenix and the very southern star Alpha Hydrus. V407 Cygni's zodiacal longitude and recent outburst emphasizes the essence of humanitarian Aquarius and conjoining stars. Hydor, Lambda Aquarius, lies in and guides the stream of the flowing waters of the humanitarian waterbearer. Hydor (which simply means water), like the stars of the urn from which the waters flow, Sadalmelik, Sadachbia, Seat, Zeta and Eta, is a star of fortuity. This zodiacal location is also related to Varuna, goddess of the water's of life, and who invites us to allow nature's way to weave its course. Directly conjoining Hydor of Aquarius is Alpha Hydrus (not to be confused with Hydra). Classically, Alpha Hydrus is the tail of Hydrus, yet some modern renderings show it as the head. Hydrus is a very southern constellation, lying at the south ecliptic pole. As such, it is of the soul collective's fundamental essence--a primogenitor of life, specifically the fundamental nourishing primordial waters from which life emerges. Alpha Hydrus articulates our fundamental basic needs of life--that which the entire human family requires for its basic existence--the needs of the people and that which should be denied to none. Zeta Phoenix inspires physical action to rise from the ashes of the past and to create a new and all-inclusive society.

Skat, Delta Aquarius, is "star of the foundation," marking the shinbone of the waterbearer. Skat is of humanitarian philanthropic foundations, organizations, and business vessels through which material and financial support can flow for future-oriented humanitarian focused projects and for the nourishment of an evolved human society flourishing in the arts and sciences. Skat inspires action in support this pursuit. Skat is possibly derived from the Arabic Al Sak (the shinbone) or from Al Shi'at, meaning "a wish" (Allen).

Skat conjoins Zeta Aquarius, and, along with Sadachbia, Pi (Seat), and Epsilon, they create a prominent asterism (to skywatchers), a 4-star "Y"--a symbol used in electronics to denote an antenna--that which transmits and receives, is expressive and receptive. The "Y" of stars is generally depicted as the Urn of Aquarius--from where the nourishing humanitarian waters flow. Sadachbia, the principle star of the "Y" is the "lucky star of hidden things." Sadachbia can indicate that a physical gift of extreme value can be discovered, revealed, claimed or given.

This is one of the purest areas of resonance in the ecliptic and one of the most fortuitous--the mid-point of sidereal Aquarius--the Angel Point of the Zodiak.

Our Demonstrable Moon impels an all-inclusive humanitarian focus to manifest that which we have so far worked for and realized in this lunar month. It inspires us to set aside differences and to work together in the greater interest of a more mature society. It inspires the application of this lunar month's theme--cooperation in business and commerce--through a humanitarian vessel that serves the nourishment of all.

Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Last Quarter Moon
Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on July 22 (July 23 GMT) in early sidereal Aries.

The Moon, lying between Eris and Jupiter, conjoins Alrisha (Kaitain) of Pisces; Mirach of Andromeda; The Andromeda Galaxy M31; and the Open star cluster M52 in Cassiopeia.

Giorgio Vasari. Perseus and Andromeda. 1570-1572 Oil on Slate.

Giorgio Vasari. Perseus and Andromeda. 1570-1572 Oil on Slate. On display at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Some critics think this work to be cluttered by other people in the water, confusing the theme of the chained princess. I however think it nicely depicts Andromeda's almost fatal entrapment in Cetus--the technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, as indicated by many people flocking around the chained princess in the Piscian waters, all unconscious of the danger of becoming devoured.

Alrisha (Kaitain), Alpha Pisces, is a very close pair of bluish-white stars, and is the knot or ribbon tying the two fishes of Pisces together. Alrisha lies just across the cusp of sidereal Pisces, on the shore of sidereal Aries. Alrisha is the knot or cord of emotional attachment in the mortal world. It is that which ties our primordial past with our desire to rise from it, articulated by the upward fish on the cusp of Aries. Alrisha is the motion or motive in the present moment that unites our past with our future, and which motivates present action. Alrisha is the bond--as in glue and as in vow--that ties together.

Mirach, Beta Andromeda, is a massive red star, with a magnitude identical to Alpheratz, Alpha Andromeda. Mirach also has a companion star, although very faint, about 60,000 times dimmer than Mirach. Mirach is the sash or chord of the Princess Andromeda, also marking her loins, and which lies north of Alrisha. Mirach signifies a bond of strength. Mirach can indicate a betrothal of those destined in desire to be together, and specifically is the declaration of commitment uniting them. Mirach is of the bonds in partnership that make it possible to live our highest potential and fulfillment. Mirach can literally imply tying the knot in matrimony, but more specifically it is about bonds of the soul, a star of union and of soul mates, of making it possible, through committed union, for two to be or do something greater than either can be or do alone.

Although Mirach conjoins Alrisha, the knot based on emotional affection and sometimes entanglement, Mirach, being a bond of strength, does not imply a union in any negative sense, although their combined energy can express--and sometimes confusingly--as entanglement. If we have done our work while passing through Pisces, getting emotionally clear, our capacity for discernment should reveal the difference. They also articulate the manifestation of our emotion; meaning that which we manifest in our lives is based on how we feel--the emotional tone we embody--and of our Solar Plexus--the energy center of material manifestation.

Our Last Quarter Moon brings our awareness to our bonds with others in the world and to the need for our mutual support to free us from the entrapments of the past and to rise to the future in freedom to become all that we are destined to be.

Ceres Retrograde

Ceres begins its retrograde on July 26, just before the Balsamic Moon. Ceres and Uranus both in early sidereal Pisces are in a synchronous retrograde. Earth and Ceres will begin a new synodic cycle in the midst of its retrograde on September 16, 2011 in late Aquarius. The previous Earth-Ceres synodic cycle began on June 18, 2010 conjoined the Galactic Center in early sidereal Sagittarius.

Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

Balsamic Moon
Focus to the Future

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on July 26 (July 27 GMT) in sidereal Taurus. The Moon nests between the longitudes of Rigel and Bellarix, to principal stars of Orion and it also conjoins AE Auriga and the Flaming Star Nebula; and Nihal of Leporis. This is also the ecliptical longitude of Makemake's North Node, partly revealing the nature of Makemake's enterprising influence.

Bellatrix, Gamma Orion, is the Female Amazon Warrior, the conqueror, star of the Amazon. Bellatrix holds excellent capacities in "strategic planning," especially regarding enterprising pursuits (in contrast to Betelgeuse, the male warrior, whose capacity is more about response in the moment). Classically, Bellatrix is lucky in administrative accomplishment--in civil, political, and military office. Bellatrix is especially favorable for women, and brings a loquacious quality. This star announces the rising of the more brilliant enterprising star Rigel, the left foot of Orion.

Alpha and beta of the northern Camel conjoin Bellatrix further articulating the nature of this zodiakal band in Taurus. The Camel spreads wealth around the world through commerce and business, is a resilient, enduring, hard working and intelligent beast of burden with the ability to go for days without water before becoming distressed, one suited for long and arduous journeys. This also articulates the planning and administrative nature of Bellatrix and the plodding and enduring nature of Taurus in general.

Rigel, Beta Orion, a supergiant star about 30 times the size of our Sun and with a mass about 17 times the mass of our Sun. It shines about 40,000 times our Sun's luminosity and is the seventh brightest star in the heavens. It lies south of the red giant Betelgeuse, also of Orion. Rigel has a faint dwarf companion but it is hard to see in small telescopes due to Rigel's brilliant glare.

Rigel is of enterprising entrepreneurialism. Orions in general are known for their architectural capacity. Prominent alignments with Rigel (and Bellatrix) bring the capacity to embody, direct and execute large, extravagant and grandiose projects; bringing good through commerce and business affairs. Kursa, conjoining Rigel, marks the beginning of Eridanus, the River of Life. Kursa is of new beginnings, new journeys, new involvements, and new legs of our lives. Although it may be time to go forth anew, into a new phases of our lives, we must be aware of the tenacious perseverance required when staring new life journeys, to move from the wars and trials of the past to the freedom of the future. Kursa is also favorable for journeys involving enterprises across water or in other parts of the world.

South of Orion is Lepus, the hare, with Arneb, Alpha Lepus, and Nihal, Beta Lepus, primarily conjoining Bellatrix. Lepus, muscular and larger than the rabbit, and with much larger feet, is considered a female totem. The hare, like the rabbit mythically articulates creativity, except this is one who is boldly pro-creative, and often is silently and perceptively scheming to outsmart and outrun its competition for the multiplication of abundance--another facet of the nature of Rigel and Bellatrix and this few degree band of sidereal Taurus--a making for the managerial, administrative, and business-minded quality common to these stars. The rabbit and the hare are both associated with the moon, the feminine and fertility--the Moon is exalted in early sidereal Taurus.

North of Orion and Taurus is Auriga, the Charioteer and the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula C405. An interesting observation about the energetic star AE Auriga in the Flaming Star Nebula is that it came from the same location as Mu of Columba the Dove, emblem of Divine dispensation--both from the Great Orion Nebula. It appears as if the two stars had a very close encounter only to be expelled from the Orion Nebula, and now reside in different parts of the heavens. This suggests a renegade or outcast quality, one who lives outside the beliefs and conventions of its group, a free and highly creative thinker moving on its own, even with its own agenda, which is quite fitting to this area of Taurus and to impious but highly creative and enterprising Orion.

Our coalescing Moon brings us to our summation of this lunar cycle and sets the seed for the next. It brings our attention to enterprising and entrepreneurial pursuits and to their administrative strategies. Thus, the seed coalesces for this lunar cycle, which will sprout anew in the following lunar cycle.

The New Earth-Pallas Synodic Cycle

Earth and retrograde Pallas begin in new 450-day synodic cycle on July 29 in sidereal Capricorn. The previous cycle began on May 4, 2010 in sidereal Libra. It's theme was presented in the April 14, 2010 Lunar Planner.

Pallas

Mature Pallas expresses as the artful use of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality's paradox. Mature Pallas expresses form the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, and from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality--from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another--and to claim that experience as wisdom. It invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express nonjudgmental courageous solution beyond life's paradoxes created by opposing forces.

Pallas is applier and defender of wisdom and truth; the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness. Mature Pallas accepts personal responsibility for having co-created our experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness. Pallas has the strategic capacity to link, unify and bring together; and has wonderful perceptual skills for planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts or artists. Pallas significantly effects emotional and physical equilibrium.

Pallas issues can express as spiteful withdrawal, which ultimately can manifest as self-sabotage due to judgments about use of power or awry creative / sexual energy. It can also express as righteousness, judgment and invalidation of opposite or alternative views, lashing out with a vengeance. Pallas issues can express as an imbalance in the masculine and feminine aspects of self; sexuality issues, dyslexia and perceptual problems. Pallas governs the Liver / Spleen balance (violet / red), which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain. More about Pallas.

This Earth-Pallas synod conjoins Alpha Microscopium; Theta Indus; Theta Aquila; Gamma of Sagitta; and also of influence is Algedi of Capricorn and the 1987A Super Nova Remnant in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Pallas lies at 27° north ecliptical latitude, quite north of the ecliptic in Aquila the Eagle, near Altair Aquila, and thus which is also of influence.

This several area of the zodiak is of personal motive and secrecy, of esoteric knowledge, religion, higher education, and science; as well as the secret places and orders associated with such, or merely places of personal retreat and seclusion--but places strategic to one's purpose. Here we find locations such as military-scientific-extraterrestrial bases, hermitages, exclusive retreats, or isolated places with a spiritual focus--sacred sites or places of power under the care of their mysterious stewards. We also find an arsenal of strategic tools (technological or magikal), to either aid or control humanity as well as the skill to use them; and this includes our personal arsenals of strategic tools--and how we use what we have is up to us.

Algedi, Alpha Capricorn, marks the head of the fish-goat. Actually there are two Alpha Stars, Alpha Prima and Alpha Secunda (or Alpha 1 & 2). They are a wide pair, thus visible with the naked-eye. They are optically similar, both yellowish-orange in color with similar magnitudes. Both stars are also binary star systems, each with faint companions.

Algedi (Alpha 1 & 2), and conjoining Dabih, Beta Capricorn (also a double star), are of covert and secret places: caves, spiritual or exclusive retreats and sanctuaries--isolated places with a spiritual focus--sacred sites or our places of power. Algedi is also of places of unique purpose: scientific or medical centers, even military / extraterrestrial bases or outposts. Although such places may seem to be isolated, lying helter-skelter upon the Earth, they are strategically and naturally distributed upon Earth's energy grid. That which occurs at these locations is of significance in the greater evolutionary process for all souls and for the Earth herself because the energy at these points radiates throughout the Earth's energy matrix. Algedi can also be of covert operations, manipulative maneuvers, and all that is secret or hidden behind the scenes.

This area in sidereal Capricorn brings our attention to the importance of the places in which we reside or sojourn to, special places strategic to our purpose. Different places on the Earth resonate in unique ways with our bio-harmonic makeup. The unique resonances occurring when we are at different places on Earth's energy grid can be supportive or debilitating in very unique ways. Conscious choice of, with sensitivity and respect for, the places we reside are essential to our life purpose.

Aquila, the northern Eagle, perched high above the Earth, is of removed stillness and has astute observation too detail. The Eagle is of equilibrium and poise, with global vision and local purpose. As Eagle sits high upon its perch, with eyes capable of focusing on the most minute detail (conjoining Alpha Microscopium), it assesses, examines, and awaits its opportunity. Removed and alone, Eagle embodies the willingness to examine our deepest emotions and hidden but true feelings; to pin-point our pursuits from objective balance, and to then dive into the world with surety and boldness. Generally the stars of Aquila are of applied personal force and power expressed with fierce eloquence and graceful beauty.

Altair, eye of the eagle, and Alshain, Beta Aquila, are of global and extraterrestrial vision. Altair inspires us to perceive from a global, even extraterrestrial perspective; not merely from a local, isolated view, but with a focus of precision detail. In classical astrology, Altair is of assertive authoritarian militaristic leadership, of military force and power.

Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600's by German astronomer Johann Bayer of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).

Indus, classically, articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, or the Mountain Shaman--sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus' adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.

Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our "places of power" that support our wellbeing and purposes in life. This also alludes to why military installations are often found on or near sacred sites, strategic locations on the Earthgrid.

The Tarantula Nebula NGC 2070 in Dorado

The Tarantula Nebula NGC 2070 in Dorado

The Tarantula Nebula, a huge stellar nursery hosting some of the most massive stars known, resides in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy near our own galaxy. The nebula extends about 1000 light years across, with streamers extending out to about 1800 light years, making the Tarantula Nebula the largest emission nebula in the sky--about 30 times larger than the Great Orion Nebula, which lies in our own galaxy. The Tarantula Nebula contains the fantastic Supernova SN 1987A, the result of a star (called Sanduleak) that suddenly blew to bits in a spectacular supernova on February 23, 1987 and which was then seen with the unaided eye, one of the brightest supernovas since the Kepler supernova of 1604. Astrologically, supernovas explosions are one of the cosmic phenomena stimulating an expansion of consciousness. Curiously, 1987 was the year of the Harmonic Convergence movement. Image credit: ESO

Theta Aquila and Theta Indus (conjoining) are knowledge holders regarding these matters. They impel writing, teaching and the articulation of this wisdom. They also impel leaving a lesser self-expression for a greater self-expression, and to live in greater equilibrium and poise and/or in places that support a greater self-expression.

Alpha Microscopium, Gamma Sagitta and the 1987A Super Nova Remnant tightly conjoin.

Sagitta, the Missile of Zeus, extends over the first decan of sidereal Capricorn. Sagitta embodies our strategic arsenal of tools--whether applied for war or peace--this includes our personal tools to accomplish our goals in the material world. Sagitta, the missile of Zeus, extends over the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, with its tip, Gamma Sagitta, of significance here. Sagitta embodies our strategic arsenal of tools--whether applied for war or peace--this includes our personal tools to accomplish our goals in the material world. The tip of missile inspires direct application of those tools. Along with Alpha Microscopium we can see how this is fitting to the modern tools of war, such as laser-based satellites and missiles with pin-point accuracy.

Alpha Microscopium invites detailed and intelligent investigation, which is required for proper application of our strategic tools and our strategies in life.

The application of our arsenal of tools should be from and place of global and detailed vision, equilibrium and poise, as actions veiled in stupidity or the use of blind brut force can have damaging or utterly devastating ramifications.

On February 23, 1987, a star called Sanduleak suddenly blew to bits in a spectacular supernova, now labeled SN1987A. We normally see a neutron star in the midst of a Super Nova Remnant. A neutron star is the dead remains of the original star made of neutrons compressed into an extraordinary density. In this case there should have been a neutron star in place of Sanduleak, but perplexingly it was non-existent--fitting to the theme at this zodiacal longitude, at the "Tip of Missile."

This new Earth-Pallas synodic cycle provides opportunity and inspiration for the intelligent creative application of our strategic arsenal of tools--those personal, those of countries and those global--beyond the petty competitive mentality of this side verses that side; but from a place of global vision, from balance and poise for solution; and with respect for the sacred land upon which we live. Sounds like a tall order for the world. But let's start with demonstrating it in our personal lives and in any business or academic pursuits that we may be involved with.

Our next New Moon occurs on July 30, 2011 in sidereal Cancer conjoining the Preasepe star cluster. More to come then.

To learn how one lunar phase shifts and changes into the next, and to learn how to live in attunement to the lunar cycles, in the experiential empowerment doing so offers, download the Lunar Planner Introduction and each monthly Lunar Calendar, and use them daily (PDF file links below)--its all a gift.

We need not live in endless struggle, overwhelmed by the surface turbulence of our growth and awakening process. We can establish an inner peace instead, with life becoming a graceful dance when we attune ourselves to the natural spiral of growth that is guiding our lives. Living in attunement to the natural Lunar Cycles is an effective and empowering way to do this. Living in attunement to the natural astronomical cycles of life is living in faith and trust in the Divine Creative Intelligence expressing throughout our lives.

The Lunar Planner is an experiential tool teaching us how to live in attunement to the natural lunar cycles. Astronomical Sidereal Astrology and Star Lore reveal each lunar month's theme, and the planetary themes unfolding throughout the year. Each lunar month's theme weaves a continuing story line of the patterns of growth unfolding in our lives.
