A Matter of Balance: The Art of Living
Unlocking our Coding

The Lunar Month of
October 26, 2011 - November 25, 2011

Nick Anthony Fiorenza

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Lunar Cycle Overview

Our New Moon of October 26, 2011 occurs in sidereal Libra. It conjoins Miaplacidus of Argo Navis; the Supergiant star Syrma of Virgo; and The Purple Rose of Virgo. It also conjoins Juno, asteroid of covenant relations, within a couple of degrees, bringing attention to partnerships and their working relations. This area of the zodiak is about unlocking our potential to move forward, navigation in time and space; and creating the means for and ensuring an environmental harmonic resonance that supports our evolutionary fulfillment.

The big event in this lunar month is the start of the Saturn-Eris opposition, which is triggered on the New Moon by the Mars and Venus-Mercury square. This is a significant planetary alignment that will culminate in November of 2011 with its effects continuing through June of 2012. This marks the midpoint of vision and realization in the current Saturn-Eris 30-year synodic cycle that began in 1997. Eris, the great disruptor, deep in Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, is serving to reorganize the structure of human consciousness. Eris now takes a stand against Saturn, that which is solidified and long established in our lives.

Refreshingly, Jupiter and Earth begin their new 399-day synodic cycle in sidereal Aries, mobilizing personal action and pioneering leadership that motivates us to reinvent our lives. Ceres and Uranus begin their new 5-year synodic cycle in sidereal Pisces, inviting radical change in how we nurture and are nurtured. Venus and Mercury maintain their tight conjunction throughout this lunar cycle, as they move through sidereal Scorpio and the constellation Ophiuchus. In the process, Venus and Mercury conjoin the Centaur Pholus on the Moon’s North Node, supporting a metamorphic transition. Mercury begins its retrograde a few hours before the following New Moon in passionate Scorpio.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more--the underlying cycles upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

"The stars would not be in the heavens if we were meant to walk in darkness."

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.

New Moon Phase Characteristics

The New Moon Lunar Theme

Our New Moon of October 26, 2011 resides in sidereal LIbra, but in the constellation of Virgo. The New Moon conjoins Miaplacidus of Argo Navis, the Supergiant star Syrma of Virgo, which marks the knee of the Virgin, and The Purple Rose of Virgo. Also conjoining are: Delta and Zeta Bootes and the Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes; Muhifain, Lambda and Iota Centauri, and the Elliptical Galaxy NGC 5253 of the Centaur; and Delta Crucis of the Southern Cross.

Juno, our asteroid of covenant relations and mutual equality, conjoins the New Moon. Juno lies a couple of degree before the New Moon, thus its influence sets in just before the New Moon and was a part of the coalescing seed of the previous lunar cycle (the Sun conjoined Juno on the Balsamic Moon). In review, from the previous lunar cycle: it marked the mid-point of vision and realization in the current Earth-Juno synodic cycle that began on March 12, 2011. The Juno synodic cycle was presented in the March 4, 2011 Lunar Planner. This cycle began in sidereal Leo conjoining Mizar of the Great Bear inspiring dynamic creative expression in partnerships. What are we doing with energy that now in our lives?

Although the constellation of Virgo begins in early sidereal Virgo, it extends into the first half of the sidereal sign of Libra. The Virgin lies supine with her head at the beginning of Virgo. Spica, Alpha Virgo, which marks the cusp of Virgo-Libra, lies exactly on the ecliptic plane and marks the base chakra (vesica pisces) of the Virgin. The Virgin's legs extend well into Libra, with her feet marking the center (15°) of sidereal Libra. The constellation of Virgo embraces ~46° of the zodiak--the longest of the zodiacal constellations.

Libra New Moon Star Chart for October 26, 2011

Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali (Alpha and Beta Libra) form the balance or scales of Libra in modern illustrations. They respectively lie at ~20° and ~24° Libra. These two stars are also the “Chelae of the Scorpion,” extending from the sign of Scorpio and the Scorpion’s head back into Libra. The Chelae of the Scorpion reach toward the feet of the Virgin, in mid-sidereal Libra. The overall mythical image here is of the Virgin giving birth, with the Scorpion’s claws reaching up to receive this birth. The Northern Crown directly above articulates opportunity for attainment beyond entrapment by the Scorpion’s claws. This image articulates the birthing of the soul into the reincarnational process of soul growth through the balance of experience; and the opportunity for mastery over this process. This mythical articulation was destroyed in recent (Chaldean / Roman) times: The Scorpion’s Chelae and the Virgin’s legs had both been severed from our stellar mythos, and so too its profound significance regarding the reincarnational process of soul growth.

Bootes, Virgo’s consort and protector, stands over the Virgin giving birth, over the cusp of Virgo-Libra, ensuring a safe and unadulterated birth. Above and below the Chelae, are the constellations of the Northern Crown, Centaurus, and the Southern Cross, all articulating the means for our evolutionary freedom from the perpetuated incarnational dilemma of biological degeneration, death, and rebirth.

Bootes, Virgo’s consort and protector, stands over the Virgin giving birth, over the cusp of Virgo-Libra. Bootes embodies the responsibility to provide a safe environment for the Virgin--for the birth, evolution, and evolutionary fulfillment of souls. Above and below the Chelae, are the constellations of the Northern Crown, Centaurus, and the Southern Cross, all articulating the means for our evolutionary freedom from the perpetuated incarnational dilemma of biological degeneration, death, and rebirth.

This embracing mythical image, and the individual star themes creating the qualities of sidereal Virgo and Libra, (obscured and now hidden--under the skirt of the Virgin), reveal the truth of that which is required to ensure healthy pure birth and that supports our attainment of evolutionary freedom from perpetual entrapment in the Clutches of the Scorpion, the karmic clutches of the past. Thus I call the first half of the sidereal Libra “Under the Skirt of the Virgin” to mythically articulate the long obscured secrets (esoteric knowledge) hidden within of this part of the zodiak.

Under the Virgin’s legs lies the benevolent Centaur, teacher of the right way to live, protector of, and leader to, the original cardinal virtues (embodied by the Southern Cross)--the original purity of soul’s intent and purpose before any incursions taken on throughout the reincarnational process. Further south lies the keel of Argo Navis--the ship sailing along the galactic equator, which embodies matters related to ensuring a safe incarnational sojourn for the durative soul, that which exists before and after this lifetime.

The Egyptian Ma'at wearing the feather of truth.

Ma'at wearing the feather of truth

Predating this rendering of a supine Virgin, the Virgin was shown standing, only occupying sidereal Virgo, not Libra as well, with Spica being a ear or sheaf of wheat held in her right hand. In Egypt, this was Isis, also with a sheaf of wheat, and sometimes holding the infant Horus, which later became the image of the Christian Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus. Isis embodied the principles of a Virgin (a pure vessel) and that of a Mother (to give birth), not a Virgin-Mother. Isis embodied the capacity to birth a soul in its highest potential, a total or soul-infused, awakened being.

Sidereal Libra was illustrated as another personification, known as the Balance Holder; also an upright figure holding the scales of Libra. In Egyptian myth, this was Ma’at, who would weigh the human heart / soul at the time of death, with the soul in one scale and an ostrich feather (feather of Truth) in the other. If the heart / soul was heavier than the feather, the soul would need to reincarnate--needing to release its excess weight, or karma--the need to balance its incarnational experience.

The Egyptian Ma’at, although rendered as a woman with an ostrich feather in her hair, was not a deity passing judgment (as some scholars interpret this rendering), but a universal force expressing as balance and order, a natural justice based upon the law of basic equilibrium inherent to the universe. This natural force or principle, later got personified, as was common during the translation of hieroglyphics by Greco-Roman scholars, from which externalized religion was formulated, by those who did not understand that Egyptian imagery was a picture language conveying concepts and ideas, not beings that were worshiped of feared. Ma’at embodies the principle that the relationship between constituent parts must function in balance and as a unified whole.

A section of the Egyptian Book of the Dead written on papyrus showing the Weighing of the Heart
in the Duat using the feather of Ma'at as the measure in the balance.

In Greek myth, Ma’at transposes into the seer Themis, goddess of Mount Olympus, holding the scales in one hand and double-edged sword in the other. Themis was of divine order and law--often called upon to evoked social order, proper procedure and custom. Thesis was shown blindfolded, conveying judgment made with impartiality. In Christian imagery, Themis becomes Archangel Michael holding his double-edged sword of righteousness in one hand and the scales in the other. Note the shift from female figures to male! However, in all cases, Libra was depicted as a divine figure weighing the equanimity of a soul’s incarnational experience.

The stars in the first half of sidereal Libra, Under the Skirt of the Virgin, are of the arts and sciences regarding proper and harmonious environments, processes, and procedures in our personal lives that ensure the safe birth and healthy incarnate experience of souls on Earth. Environmental support is a key phrase here, this includes the environmental conditions of the Earth, our personal living environments, and a harmonious environment (resonance) in our relations. Thus, art, intimacy and beauty are all of significance in creating a nurturing environmental resonance in our lives.

Maiplacidus (in southern Argo Navis entering the ecliptic at about 7° sidereal Libra) is of Astronomical-Earthgrid mapping, navigation, inner-dimensional travel, and related art-sciences. Living at or traveling to the right locations at the proper times in our lives is of significance to be in proper (space-time) harmony. The purpose of sacred geometry, naturally tuned architecture, and the art-sciences involving harmonics and resonance are all of significance here--many of the art-sciences that have been obscured, suppressed or lost to humanity--including the integrated knowledge of astronomy and astrology and its application in cartographical mapping on the Earth in space and time.

The Purple Rose of Virgo NGC 5584 / Super Nova 2007

This ESO Photo is a colour-composite of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 5584. It is based on data collected by the Paranal Science Team with the FORS1 instrument on Kueyen, the second 8.2-m Unit Telescope of ESO's Very Large Telescope. The supernova SN 2007af is the bright object seen slightly below and to the right of the galaxy's centre. The galaxy and its bright supernova were observed on the nights of 16, 19 and 22 March 2007 through a B, V, R, H-alpha and OII filter. The total exposure time is about 28 minutes. The observers are Susana Randall, Claudio Melo and Swetlana Hubrig, and the day astronomer was Dominique Naef (all ESO). Henri Boffin (ESO) processed the data and made the colour-composite, and Haennes Heyer (ESO) made the final adjustments.

Conjoining Miaplacidus is Syrma, Star of Atlantis, which lies under the skirt of the Virgin and marks the knee of the Virgin. Syrma embodies issues relating to frozen genetic coding and the resultant crystalized emotional patterning incurred due to devastating or cataclysmic events of the past. Syrma provides inspiration for personal change and transformation, and articulates our need to unlock our frozen genetic coding and crystalized cellular makeup that keeps us stretched out of the present. Syrma alignments can bring emotional patterning, especially suppressed grief, to surface awareness so we may clear it. Syrma also inspires the application of art-sciences (Miaplacidus) that can aid in this process, freeing ourselves from biological conditions and behavioral patterns that keep us frozen or stretched in past-future time so we may enter the zero-point portal of now, which is the doorway to step forth into our evolutionary fulfillment.

Conjoining Syrma is Delta and Zeta Bootes and the Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes, lying just over the feet of the Virgin. Also conjoining is the Supernova SN 2007af, a recent and stunning revelation found “under the skirt of the Virgin” in The Purple Rose of Virgo, a barred spiral galaxy (slightly smaller than our Galaxy). South is the arm of the Centuar (Iota) and the hind leg of of the Centaur, formed by Muhifain (Gamma) and Lambda Centauri, along with the Elliptical Galaxy NGC 5253 of the Centaur. Also of influence is Delta Crucis of the Southern Cross. All of these stars impel us to take a stance of strength to achieve personal transformation in our relations and in our personal lives, to unlock that which is held in stasis. This is another aspect of the Centuarian teachings about claiming our self-mastery in the world and attaining the Northern Crown.

Miaplacidus, Syrma, and the Quasar OQ 172 of Bootes all amalgamate and inspire transcendence into our inner-core awareness or “near-field,” which in turn unlocks the bounds of being frozen or stretched in space-time, in a mode of trying to release the past to get to the future, and which keeps us looking outside of self to acquire what we do not have in order to attain our fulfillment.

This lunar cycle brings our attention to issues about the balance of forces, interests and partnerships in our lives, about the environments in which we live and participate, and how to unlock that which seems frozen in our selves and in our lives to move forward into a greater level of harmony and fulfillment. In this day and age, it is easy to live in grief over the past with hopes for a better future. However, this can leave us stuck, held in suspension, and stretched (stressed) out in time. The term balance is often taken to mean the balance of two things in our lives, and we often swing or oscillate from one side to the other, whether it is from lack to abundance, from grief to optimism, or from any number of dualities. Balance can also indicate living poised in the perfect center, a place of inner equilibrium. This is to coalesce self from a past-future mentality and mode of being into the present. Here is a place of peace and stillness, a place where we can release the tension that keeps our neurological coding locked up. To participate in the moment every moment is an art that takes diligence. It is here however where we can allow movement and flow in our lives, where we have a choice to respond to the ever-changing currents and crises in our lives from a place of inner harmony--the art of living.

This lunar cycle also brings attention to partnerships, mutual respect, mutual-compatibility and cooperation, to coparticipate with our colleagues to achieve something greater in our lives.

The Saturn-Eris Opposition

Saturn and recently discovered Eris enter into their opposition just after the New Moon. Eris lies in late sidereal Pisces and Saturn in late sidereal Virgo. At the same time, Mars and Venus-Mercury create a square in aspect to the Saturn-Eris opposition. (Mars, in late sidereal Cancer, is trine to Eris and sextile to Saturn. Venus and Mercury, in late sidereal Libra, is inconjunct to Eris and semi-sextile to Saturn.) The Mars-Venus trigger is somewhat fleeting, starting the day before the New Moon and continuing through the day after (due to lunar triggers), thus kicking off this event. The Saturn-Eris opposition is of course somewhat longer, maintaining a tight orb due to their much slower movements. This can be seen in the 2011 Graphic Ephemeris.

Saturn

Saturn is of structure, form and time. Saturn’s force tends to solidify and concretize, to halt that which is moving. Saturn is slow and methodical. It imparts a need to be responsible, accountable, dependable and stable. Saturn also forces us to confront our fears and address our karmic issues.

Saturn, in its clear and evolved expression, provides the ability to create a solid foundation and stable form. It brings the capacity for concentration and moderation and the ability to apply past principles and knowledge constructively. Saturn instills confidence in one’s knowledge; and honors family and soul heritage.

Saturn in its diminished expression can be controlling, wanting to own others and dictate behavior for them. It can be oppressive, righteous and jealous; fearful of casual intimacy, touching and embracing, which instead must be controlled. It can produce an inability to be self-responsible and own up to life experience as being one’s own creation; thus resulting in victim consciousness where we blame life or others for our life experience. It can express a denial or avoidance of genetic and family heritage, such as fear or resistance use one’s birth or family name. It can produce an inability to ground, concretize and structure life; or produce difficulty with physical things, as well as well as with structure, organizations, legalities, and bureaucracies.

Saturn when acute or hyper can be obsessive, especially with the past, dogma, and belief structures. It is rigid, inflexible and can result in paralysis, broken bones, and physical deformations. It can be an inflictor of bondage, pain and injustices.

Eris

Eris, the Great Disruptor, has a radical and interceding nature, overturning our current perception, but with purpose, so we may expand and redefine our perceptual view of the reality in which we live. Eris, discovered in 2005 in Cetus, was responsible for the formation of the new “Dwarf Planet” classification and the reclassification of Pluto to Dwarf Planet status, the family to which Eris, Pluto and the asteroid Ceres now belong. This caused quite a commotion in both the astronomical and astrological communities. However, this proved to be appropriate as additional new Dwarf Planets were discovered shortly afterward.

Mythologically, Eris is the Greek god of strife. Eris’ daughter, Dysnomia, is the name given to the moon of Eris. Dysnomia is said to be the “spirit of lawlessness”--disruptor of civil order. Eris, however, had two daughters, Dysnomia and the opposite and peaceable one, Eunomia, who ends strife. Dysnomia is also the name given to a nominal recall (dys) disorder--a memory problem associated with naming (nouns); the inability to retrieve names when needed--”its on the tip of my tongue.”

Eris demonstrated, right from the start, her no-nonsense astrological role as the great disruptor. Although the discovery of Eris created discord at first, a new order followed with the new classification of Dwarf Planets (fitting to the theme of her daughter Eunomia). This is significant when considering Eris’ astrological character.

Discordant Eris provokes change by upsetting the status quo, by upsetting the apple cart. Although Eris can create a disrupting commotion, upsetting our existing, limiting and antiquated structures of consciousness. She opens us to see beyond the finite bounds of our current perception, beyond the bounds we place upon ourselves by arousing and challenging our egoic defenses. In doing so, we are left to redefine and reorganize our world view to embrace a far vaster reality--a view more fitting to our rapidly expanding awareness.

Eris’ discovery in Cetus, the Technobureaucratic Monster of Collective Human Consciousness, indicates Eris is disrupting the fear-driven bureaucratic world of mass consensus to help our emergence from the belly of the ole’ whale into a new world paradigm. Being a very slow mover, Eris is still making its passage through the gut of Cetus--continuing to disrupt fear-based collective human consciousness and the technobureaucratic monster driving it. Eris’ influence has been working, for the most part, at sub-conscious emotional level--perhaps continuing to increase the unrest with the status quo of the human populous.

This is the first Saturn-Eris opposition. Saturn will begin its retrograde in February of 2012, and will then station to return direct on June 25, when it will oppose Eris again. The synod (heliocentric) opposition occurs on December 7, 2011, which marks the midpoint of vision and realization in the current Saturn-Eris 30-year synodic cycle that began on November 30, 1997.

Eta Carina

Eta Carina

Saturn conjoins Eta Carina of Argo Navis. Eta Carina enters the ecliptic in late sidereal Virgo and due to its massive and extremely active nature, it significantly and prominently influences the latter part of Virgo. Eta Carina is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy--estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in 1840 A.D., then making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 to 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carina theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998--perhaps Eta’s warnings. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time.

Eta Carina is Lord of the Waves (the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu--he who warned Noah), generally is considered the foreteller of impending catastrophe, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man “Oannes,” who taught the Chaldaeans, both esoteric science and that which would civilize their lives, from building cities and temples to agricultural technique (Robert Temple, “The Sirius Mystery” / Blavatsky, “Isis Unveiled”). Eta embodies the esoteric Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Oannes is the emblem of priestly, esoteric wisdom; he comes out from the sea, because the ‘great deep’, the water, typifies...the secret doctrine.” (Blavatsky, “Isis Unveiled”)

Due to Eta’s strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level--stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth’s safe evolutionary outcome. As a part of Argo Navis and the Argo’s keel, Eta is of navigational matters regarding the evolution of the entire soul collective on Earth.

Eta Carina’s impending Super Nova explosion, is a portent of evolutionary change and impels environmental preparation for such change. It also indicates that something with far greater potential and magnitude can and will birth through the human form--a far greater expression of consciousness. Eta stimulates our need to prepare for and to become capable of this greater expression of consciousness, to create an inner bio-logical environment that is capable of a higher expression of consciousness as well as one that can support such a physical birth.

Eris, the great disruptor, deep in Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, is serving to reorganize the structure of human consciousness. Eris now takes a stand against Saturn, that which is solidified and long established in our lives, bringing persective . This does not imply something negative, perhaps it will just bring realizations on how or what to construct as a new foundation after what has been dismantled in our world since 1997. Bottom line, Since Eris is new to the scene, how this plays out is to be seen.

The Saturn-Eris synod of November 30, 1997 occurred in sidereal Pisces. It conjoined Revati of Pisces within 1°, when Eris was just beginning its many-year conjunction with Revati and Baten Kaitos. See the related article: Eris and the Global Economic Crisis.

Jupiter’s New Synodic Cycle
Mobilizing Personal Action in Leadership

The Sun Earth and Jupiter align on October 29, 2011 marking the start of the new 399-day synodic cycle in early sidereal Aries. The previous Jupiter synod occurred in early sidereal Pisces on the September 21, 2010 equinox Full Moon, which was a compounded synod with Uranus (a Sun-Earth-Jupiter-Uranus alignment). This not only began a new Earth-Jupiter cycle and a Earth-Uranus synodic cycle, but it also began the new 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle, which was presented in the September 8, 2010 Lunar Planner. Thus, this is the second Earth-Jupiter cycle starting within the context of the new 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle.

Jupiter Synodic Mandala

Learn More about Jupiter, Jupiter’s synodic cycles; and Jupiter’s Mandala created by the Earth-Jupiter’s synods.

This Earth-Jupiter synod in sidereal Aries conjoins Caph of Cassiopeia and Alphirk of Cepheus. Also of influence are: Mesartim and Sharatan of Aries; Apin, Quasar 3c48 and the Pinwheel Galaxy M33, all of Triangulum; and Alpha Fornax and the Fornax-A galaxy NGC 1316.

Sharatan, Mesartim and Hamal of Aries form the head of the ram. Sharatan, the Beta star of the Ram, one of the horns, and Mesartim, the mouth of the ram, are portents of an applied force to change. They support new beginnings, adventure, transmutation and great rewards; but they are of opportunities that may quickly open and close, and thus require our immediate response to grasp them without hesitation when they occur. Sharatan provides a sign that it is a time to take action or to create change; but also provides a warning that headstrong pursuits from arrogant righteousness or adamant denial can perpetuate the human cry in the transmutational fires of life. Either way, these stars impel us to initiate personal action to take the lead in our individual lives.

Caph, the palm of Queen Cassiopeia’s hand, holds a gentle and tender ability to be a true guiding and stabilizing force. Caph provides an in-between or holding place, and indicates the need for arbitration, meeting, and compromise in the midst of the heat of battle. A truce, honoring perhaps even un-resolvable differences, is required. Calm, composure, level-headedness, and emotional balance are required to come to this place between, and, the dramatic conflict we have been in is most always a necessary prerequisite. Caph is often indicative of a female in an authoritative position offering aid.

Alphirk brings empathetic support, a door easily opened in the physical, but only manifesting after a long and arduous journey through the initiatory fires of life. Alphirk is a demonstrable force working though the world that actually lifts us from the struggles of life, or alters conditions in a way that otherwise would be impossible through one’s own effort alone. Alphirk is often indicative of a male in an authoritative position offering aid.

Conjoining Caph and Alphirk is the Quasar 3C48, just north of Aries in Triangulum, along with Apin of Triangulum. Quasars in general bring experience that is out of the ordinary, experience that does not fit into our normal reality. This oddity helps to shatter our limiting concepts of how the universe works. This specific quasar in Triangulum asks us to be open to new possibilities about how our destinies can unfold, to realize that if we surrender the tension that upholds the apparent limitation in front of us, greater forces can work in lives that open pathways otherwise blocked. Divine forces are at work guiding our lives, far more powerful than our limitations, blunders, and efforts. To believe in and see this is to find the golden triangular corridor of light that is Triangulum--the way through the initiatory fires of Aries. It is only this that makes possible that which, from a mere mortal’s perspective, may seem to be just a dream.

NGC 1097 Spiral Galaxy in Fornax

NGC 1097 Spiral Galaxy in Fornax Image credit: Spitzer Space Telescope: NASA/JPL-Caltech/The SINGS Team (SSC/Caltech)

South of the ecliptic lies Fornax the Furnace that provides the transmutational fire while in the whale (Cetus) of human experience and during our initiatory experiences along our journeys in life, fueling the alchemical process of turning lead to gold, mortal to god. Alpha Fornax is the lucida (brightest star) of this southern constellation. Nearby is Fornax A, a spiral galaxy of the Fornax Galaxy Cluster that provides the intense heat under initiatory Aries. Fornax not only provides the fire for our personal metamorphosis but also stimulates personal action that leads to our transformation.

This new 399-day Jupiter synodic cycle impels us to take bold action to create our own opportunities in our lives in a large way, with confidence in self, and with zeal and passion. This next Earth-Jupiter synodic year is an ideal time for new and wide-sweeping pioneering ventures. It provides an opportunity to reinvent our lives and to find joy in creating something new, inspiring others with enthusiasm. It invites the application of personal resources that help others, and / or to be open to aid from those in more authoritative or affluent positions to achieve our greater goals in life. It invites us to see beyond a this side verses that side mentality, beyond the petty trivialities and shortcomings of others, and beyond our past failures or limitations--to go for the gold.

In the context of our lunar cycle, this synod mobilizes and expands upon our Libra Juno-New Moon theme, to get off the fence of indecision, and to leave the small and middle-ground approaches in our lives. It invites us to move forward in our partnerships in an expansive and all embracing way; and it invites the expansion and expression of heart and art in a big way.

Crescent Moon Phase Characteristics

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Crescent Moon of October 29-30 occurs in late sidereal Scorpio. It conjoins Ras Alhague of Ophiuchus; Theta Ophiuchus; the Terzan 2 Globular Cluster and X-ray Burster in the tail of the Scorpion; and Atria, Alpha Triangulum Australis.

Ophiuchus, in the sidereal sign of Scorpio, lies above and on the ecliptic, standing over the Scorpion, which swings quite south of the ecliptic under Ophiuchus. Antares, heart of the Scorpion, defines the center of the sidereal sign of Scorpio, the Serpent Point, and embodies the essence of the Scorpio constellation. Antares lies below the ecliptic as well, in the body of the Scorpion. Because Ophiuchus actually crosses the ecliptic, it is the thirteenth ecliptical constellation lying in the sidereal sign of Scorpio.

Ophiuchus is knowledge holder of DNA Illumination and Ascension procedures--one who has attained the ascension from the lower-order forces that perpetuate re-incarnational entrapment. In Greek myth, Aesculapius, the mediciner of the ship Argo, is also imaged as Ophiuchus, knowledgeable of advanced healing processes beyond the cycle of life and death. The Christian resurrected Jesus (Jeshu) also articulates the theme of Ophiuchus.

In our stellar image, Ophiuchus stands with the serpent (Serpentis) coiled around his body and held in his hands. The neck and head of the serpent reach toward the Northern Crown (Corona Borealis), which lies above the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion. The neck (Unukalhai) and head of the snake embody the essence and wisdom of living true to soul, in one’s true self-mastery--a Christed or Christos (a soul infused illumined being).

Ophiuchus is exemplar of mastery over the powers of life and death, master over the very raw creative forces of life. Ophiuchus embodies bringing this interplay of forces to a greater spiritual fulfillment. The astronomical symbol of Ophiuchus is the caduceus--the medical, entwined double serpent--the double helix of the DNA.

Ophiuchus and the sidereal sign of Scorpio are associated with the soul’s education regarding the use of sexual creative forces and raw creative power. This entire image of Ophiuchus standing upon the scorpion with this magnificent snake reaching for the North Crown represents claiming our self-mastery to attain evolutionary fulfillment beyond a process of soul growth in the karmic-based reincarnational process. This is to become ascended in vibration, an illumined being free from perpetuated entrapment in the patterns of the past.

Ras Alhague, Alpha Ophiuchus, the principal lucida of Ophiuchus, is head of the Serpent Holder. This star, high in the northern heavens, embodies the essence of the constellation--the wise sage, teacher, knowledge and wisdom. Ras Alhague expresses the wisdom of one who has attained their self-mastery and lives from that maturity and awareness. Ras Alhague is also the embodiment of physical health and vitality--one who knows how to heal thyself.

Ras Alhague lies over and conjoins the stars forming the right leg of Ophiuchus, which includes Theta Ophiuchus, and which extends south from Sabik to the right foot, which lies over the Sting of the Scorpion and Ara, Altar of the Centaur.

Theta Ophiuchus and the stars forming the leg and foot of Ophiuchus impart the capacity to act upon one’s inner wisdom and long-term soul purpose in the world in order to allow a lesser self to die for a greater to emerge. Standing over the Sting of the Scorpion and Ara, Altar of the Centaur, they articulate the capacity to confidently stand in the transmutational elixir created by life’s often harsh lessons (the sting); and to allow a metamorphosis into a higher office of self-mastery that occurs upon the Centaur’s altar.

Terzan 2 in Scorpio lies along a line drawn between Theta Ophiuchus and Lesath. Terzan 2 is one of several Globular Clusters which express in the infrared area of the light spectrum, discovered by French astronomer Agop Terzan and published in 1968. Terzan 2 embodies an X–Ray Burster (XBR) at its center. Although there are hundreds of globulars (a spherical grouping of stars surrounding a dense galactic center), only a few exhibit a Burster quality. The Burster itself is a neutron binary star system that emits persistent but irregular blasts of high-energy x-rays. Astrologically, globular clusters exhibit a compacted inner core sense of strength based in self-contained beliefs. Burster type globulars provide unexpected flashes of illumination, even brilliant revelations that can propel us on entirely new creative journeys or courses in our lives. It is up to us to draw upon the inner strength the globular offers and have the conviction to act upon the inspiration as the initial flash subsides. Terzan 2 in Scorpio may produce tremendous bursts of passion, sensual rapture, or raw power that motivate us to access and live a path or greater truth in self-mastery that lies beyond the natural forces assumed to be governing our lives. Terzan 2 can ignite the flame at the base chakra that allows the transmutation of crystallize cellular patterns if we are willing to surrender lower order self for a refined vibrational resonance and to live in the greater truth awaiting us.

In the far southern heavens is Triangulum Australis, composed of Atria (Alpha), Beta and Gamma. The Southern Triangle reveals the solid foundation available to one who has claimed their self-mastery in the world and who expresses and participates from this greater awareness. Much like a tripod, the most stable support structure, Triangulum Aus. articulates the maturation from oscillating between the dualistic forces of life to integrating soul awareness, and living from that awareness.

Our Crescent Moon motivates us to embrace our initiations in life, to surrender the cellular patterns that keep us at a lesser vibrational resonance, and to step into and demonstrate a greater level of self-mastery, to live from the experiential wisdom we have gained throughout life. It invites us to participate at a more refined or higher-order resonance, and to step forth into a higher office awaiting us.

First Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on November 2 in mid-sidereal Capricorn. It conjoins the asteroid Vesta within 3°. The Moon conjoins Alpha Tucana; Theta Microscopium; Delta and Epsilon Indus; 15 48, Quasar double 2016112 in Delphinus; the Pulsar PSR 2045-16 in Capricorn; and the Pulsar JP 1953 in Vulpecula.

The Tarantula Nebula

southern Dorado NGC 2070. Image Credit: ESO

A principle resonance occurs here at mid-Capricorn, which is created by the Hyperborean Cusp of the Heptanomis. The Heptanomis is a natural seven-fold division of Earth’s precessional arc in the heavens. This cusp of the Heptanomis is the location of Earth’s north celestial pole, occurring early in Earth ~25,000-year precessional cycle, that marks the start of the second of the seven heavens, the second day of creation, that is, the second epoch in our current evolutionary cycle of the soul. This is where Earth’s pole tilts at the perfect angle of incidence away from the plane of galactic light such that the light of the galactic plane begins to refract, disperse, and fragment into rainbow colored rays. (Hyper means to move away from, while Borean is from Borealis, which means the most northern and magnetically charged galactic location in Earth’s precessional cycle). This ecliptical location in mid-Capricorn creates a divine divisioning into new and unique paths of soul expression.

This second evolutionary epoch is overseen by Delphinus, the Dolphin star system. The Dolphins are angelic guides for the soul. The Dolphins articulate the purity and innocence of this pristine expression / divisioning of divine love. And, as any old salt would know, the Dolphins are guides for the soul, to be trusted in times of doubt, leading the wayward safely onward.

The issue of trust arises at this location in sidereal Capricorn--trust in self and in life. Here lies our need to participate by trusting in the paths of our souls and in the forces of nature guiding us rather than to participate from decisions made from our limited egoic selves, which are biased by the deceiving physical facades we wear upon the incarnate stage of life.

Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600’s by German astronomer Johann Bayer, of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).

Indus, classically, articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, or the Mountain Shaman--sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus’ adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.

Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our “places of power” that support our well-being and purposes in life. This also alludes to why military installations are often found on or near sacred sites, strategic locations on the Earthgrid.

Epsilon and Delta Indus conjoin Alpha Tucana and Theta Microscopium at mid-sidereal Capricorn. Loquacious Alpha Tucana can express as overly articulate, even incessant communication, which can be either very helpful or terribly annoying. Epsilon and Delta Indus add a quality to communicative Tucana that is inherently perceptive to the natural world and to the earth.

The addition of Theta Microscopium brings attention to detail or to the magnification of detail. All of this adds to an ornately loquacious and negotiating quality that demands extreme attention to detail and which is precision minded. These stars often stimulate open communication and creative negotiations that lead to solution for all parties involved.

Also conjoining is the Vulpecula Pulsar JP 1953 and Pulsar PSR 2045-16 in Capricorn. Pulsars are rapidly rotating neutron (collapsed) stars emitting a beam of electromagnetic radiation at consistent and dependable pulsating intervals, much like a lighthouse. They are usually found along the galactic equatorial plane and are guiding navigational beacons for the soul. They can be associated with our greater evolutionary purpose beyond or transcending the incarnational sojourn due to their galactic equatorial placement. They can either drive unconscious behavior for the less aware, or for a person more aware, they can offer a subtle but guiding message. A pulsar’s emission is dependable, consistent, and is non-polarized (without opinion). They can suggest patience, tenacious persistence and consistency in action; or the need to be attentive to something specific, often revealed by conjoining stars. Repetition and routine can set in resulting in empty ceremonial ways, monotonous actions or other unconscious behavior if one lacks the perceptual awareness to apprehend the specific pulsar’s message.

The Vulpecula Pulsar JP 1953 has a 0.426676 second period, which equals a frequency of 2.34369873159 Hz. and translates to 4543.44588 Angstrums (perfect blue) in the visible light spectrum. Pulsar PSR 2045-16 has a 1.96156682076 second period, which equals a frequency of 0.509796551 Hz. and translates to 5221.92055 Angstrums (Green) in the visible light spectrum. PSR 2045-16 of Capricorn is a non-galactic equatorial Pulsar, lying almost on the ecliptic.

These conjoining pulsars bring attention to how we communicate, and impel us to express from the heart and throat chakras integrated together. They impel the need to shift from a covert, self-focused, exclusive (separatist) way of communicating (as in babbling to hear self speak) to a more open, wholesome and inclusive way of communicating with others and with all life, to blend into the world, to become an inseparable part of it, rather than to stand outside looking in. They impel us to use our entire range of cognitive and perceptual abilities when communicating.

Our First Quarter Moon’s stimulus to action may impel loquacious communication and negotiation along with the need or opportunity for focused dedication and commitment with attention to detail. It invites clear, grounded and realistic action, and is especially favorable for business, writing, publishing, legalities and long-term enterprises. Consideration for our security and that of those with whom we participate is also of issue. It invites us to take deliberate and organized action that makes real and concretizes our desires as well as the theme of this lunar cycle. We are impelled to take action that makes a definitive difference in our lives and in our world.

Ceres Direct

Ceres completes its retrograde on November 6, just a few hours before the Gibbous Moon. This engages the new Earth-Ceres synodic cycle that began in mid-September 2011. The theme of this cycle was presented in the August 29, 2011 Lunar Planner. Ceres brings our attention to environmental concerns and issues, to how we nurture and are nurtured, and to our daily sustenance.

Gibbous Moon Phase Characteristics

The Gibbous Moon
Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on November 6 and conjoins Uranus within 2°. The Moon and Uranus lie upon the Vernal Point, at 5° sidereal Pisces. Conjoining stars include: Scheat of Pegasus; Alpha Scuptoris and the Sculptor Galaxy NGC 253; This is also the location of the South Galactic Pole (SGP) and the Primordial Origin of Earth’s Precessional Cycle.

Uranus

Uranus in the chart reveals where and how we break from the conformity of the past. Uranus is radical, spontaneous, and electrical. It supports the expression of our uniqueness and originality.

Uranus, in its clear and evolved expression, brings the ability to spontaneously change and to create new frontiers in experience and consciousness. It is the true pioneer, uninhibited by convention and establishment (Saturn). Uranus inspires the expression of our unique individuality in radical confidence. Uranus instills a future-orientation and humanitarian focus; and embodies quickness and alertness of consciousness often producing a lightning-like creative mind when prominently aspected. Uranus provides an ability to work with higher orders and principles--providing a higher-mind prowess for telepathy and all super-consciousness functions and mechanisms. Uranus instills an appreciation of excellence and perfection. It is the applier of the higher sciences and inspires new discoveries in technology and consciousness.

Uranus in its chronic expression can manifest as fear to change, to be spontaneous, or to take radical steps. It can express as judgment of other’s uniqueness and gifts, or of one’s own eccentricities and uniqueness; which covers a fear of being accepted or rejected, of being persecuted, and thus expresses as seeking sameness as a means for gaining acceptance. It can manifest as expressing other’s truths and philosophies rather than one’s own. An acute or hyper Uranian energy can express as instability, erraticism and hyperactivity, with an inability to follow through--ungrounded electrically.

Primary associated bio-energy centers are: Nervous system and higher brain centers—mental ability, prefrontal and frontal lobes; neurological and synoptic circuitry, and associate mechanisms; bio-electrical and light impulses, and heart firing.

The “Polar Origin” or “Primordial Origin” is the location of Earth’s North Celestial Pole (NCP) in the celestial sphere when Earth’s Pole lies at the beginning of Earth’s ~25,000-year precessional cycle. The Primordial Origin enters the ecliptic at 5° sidereal Pisces (also the current location of the vernal point circa 2000 AD). I dub this northern location along the galactic plane as the “Primordial Origin” and the fiducial (starting point) in Earth’s precessional cycle for several reasons.

This is the most northern point along the galactic plane and is the ecliptical longitude of the South Galactic Pole (SGP). When Earth’s north pole resides at this location (which occurred 270° ago in the precessional cycle), Earth’s polar axis is most parallel to the galactic plane, submersed in the plane of galactic light. Here Earth’s pole lies at rest in Earth’s Precessional Cycle of the Holy Cross. From this point onward, the pole begins to lift itself, awakening from its place of rest in unified galactic awareness, in the galactic plane of light, to begin its precessional round and the evolutionary unfoldment of human consciousness. Also at this time, the Vernal Point lies upon the Galactic Equatorial Node (GEN) at 5° sidereal Sagittarius--the Gate of God. This means that the vernal axis and the galactic equatorial axis (the Gate of God at 5° sidereal Sagittarius / Gate of Man at 5° sidereal Gemini) lie synthesized as one, with the precessional cross at rest, yet to unfold. (See the Holy Cross movies.)

Lacerta, the lizard, lies along the galactic equator, just over the Great Square of Pegasus, and is gate-keeper to the Primordial Origin. Lacerta embodies the knowledge of primordial and elemental forces that mold consciousness itself into organic form; awareness that precedes thought itself.

The Sculptor Galaxy NGC 253

The Sculptor Galaxy NGC 253 (sometimes called the Silver Coin Galaxy) is the brightest member of the Sculptor group of galaxies, which is resides around the South Galactic Pole (thus sometimes called the “South Polar Group”). The Sculptor group of galaxies is perhaps the nearest to our Local Group of galaxies, to which the Milky Way belongs. NGC 253 is also one of the brightest galaxies beyond our Local Group, lying about 2° from the South Galactic Pole.

Image Credit: “Todd Boroson NOAO/AURA/NSF - National Optical Astronomy Observatory / Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy / National Science Foundation”

Here at 5° sidereal Pisces we are concerned with the origins of life on Earth, the creation of the human form, and water, the very foundation of life. The South Galactic Pole (SGC), the foundation of the galactic plane, resides in Sculptoris, the sculptor’s studio, and the Sculptor Group of Galaxies. Alpha Sculptor and the Sculptor Galaxy conjoin and embrace the South Galactic Pole, and they articulate the formation of human life from the primordial waters of life, the molding of clay into human form. Alpha Sculptor stimulates our need to create our lives from the primordial forces of life.

Scheat of Pegasus is one of the four stars of the Great Square of Pegasus and it enters the ecliptic at 5° sidereal Pisces, conjoining the “Primordial Origin.” Scheat reveals the essence of early sidereal Pisces and the very foundation of life--water. Scheat brings attention to our life force and the use of it. Scheat also brings attention to the waters of life and to the purity of our body fluids, especially our “lymph,” which means Flowing Spirit of the Living Waters of Life. Scheat pertains to all waters of the world, but also to body fluids, especially water’s relationship to the purification of the physical vehicle and the body’s requirement for refined life force energies to express through the fluids molecular matrix. Scheat also brings attention to our blood, sacred sexual fluids and saliva, as well as to the types of fluids that we bring into our bodies. The purity and movement of the lymph and blood is not only essential for the elimination of toxins, but is also required for the transference of subtle light energies of cosmic intelligence (our soul’s essence) to express through our genetic coding. The more light we express the truer we express the vibrancy of our souls, and the more life giving spirit substance we embody. This is why peoples throughout history have sought Living Water--healing springs flowing endlessly from the ground of their own accord, water said to bring immortality--the word immortality here meaning “not being subject to premature degeneration and death.” Alignments with Scheat ask us to consider what we are doing with our primordial life force, how we are using our Chi / Xi, our primal energy. Scheat also asks us to integrate our primordial essence with our spiritual essence--to realize they are one flowing life-giving force.

Our Uranus-Gibbous Moon brings our attention to how we are using our life force in the world, to the primordial essence of life, and to the emotional, intuitional, compassionate and sensitive aspects of our selves. We are motivated to make radical changes in these areas and to delve deep into the recesses of personal and collective consciousness to uproot and re-mold that which keeps us bound in the past, and to challenge the accepted human condition that many people acquiesce to. Revolution and renaissance in our lives and in our world is just around the corner as we approach the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square (2012-2015). Uranus’ recent entry into sidereal Pisces and its aspect to the Vernal Point of Earth’s Precessional Cross over the last few years is the mere precursor for greater changes to manifest in the very structure of human society. 2012 Graphic Ephemeris 2012 Annual Graphic Ephemeris

Neptune and Chiron Direct

Neptune and Chiron complete their retrogrades on the Full Moon of November 10. This engages the current Earth-Neptune-Chiron cycles that began in August of 2011. More about Neptune and Chiron can be found in the July 30, 2011 Lunar Planner.

The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.

Full Moon Phase Characteristics

The Full Moon & Sun-Haumea
Vision, Enthusiasm, & Realization of the Theme

Full Moon

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

The Full Moon of November 10 occurs in sidereal Aries at the hind of the Ram. It conjoins Ruchbah of Cassiopeia; the Quasar 3C66A in Andromeda; Epsilon of Eridanus; and Delta Caelum.

Ruchbah, Delta Cassiopeia, the knee of Queen Cassiopeia, is a star of transformation--a process often occurring in a bit of initiatory fire. Ruchbah inspires transformation of our pride and arrogance--our attitudes. Something is rightfully ours, but any righteous attitudes that we deserve it, energetically keep away the very thing we want. Our righteous attitudes keep us naive to, and thus entrapped in diversionary lower-order psychic forces that trip us up, perpetuate repetitive scenarios, and keep us from claiming our greater fulfillment in life. Ruchbah reveals that the attitudes we hold must die in order to have that which is truly ours. Conjoining Quasar 3C66A in Andromeda can manifest as entrapping scenarios that help us realize it is our inner righteous attitudes that are of issue and that must transform before we find our true freedom and happiness along the winding path of life.

The stars of Caelum, the sculptor’s chisel suggest that the sculpting of our lives is a creative process, chiseled away at a bit at a time--as a sculptor chisels away the rock or marble to reveal the beauty waiting to emerge. Epsilon of Eridanus, conjoining Delta Caelum, reveals a need to create an opening or doorway; to make simple that which may seem difficult. Their conjunction with Ruchbah reveals the need to first relinquish any attitudes that we deserve something (generally a status in life) that is rightfully yours, in order for it to manifest--generally occurring with ease after such surrender.

Our Aries Full Moon is primal, sexual, erotic, creative and inventive, and it inspires transformation and regeneration. Its placement here can also be volatile, quickly eruptive or explosive. It can impel a sharp, penetrating and competitive expression. It reveals our need to channel our creative energy, and to also trust instinct rather than reason. Events surrounding the Full Moon may bring us to the realization that we need to clear any fears or surrender any righteous attitudes about not having what we feel we deserve, attitudes that keep us from moving forward.

Venus, Mercury & Pholus

Venus, Mercury and Pholus conjoin the North Lunar Node in sidereal Scorpio surrounding the Disseminating Moon of November 14.

Pholus

Just as Chiron embraces the orbits of Saturn and Uranus and is consider a key or bridge between the two planets due to their harmonic orbital resonances, Pholus’ aphelion also synchronizes with Saturn’s orbit, but it extends beyond the orbit of Uranus, crosses that of Neptune, and harmonically resonates with Orcus’ orbit--Pluto’s compliment. Pholus thus links the realms of Saturn and Orcus while passing through Uranus and Neptune.

Pholus may help to lead us from the conforming bounds and limitations of our past, to make the radical changes in our lives, to pierce the veils obscuring our more transcendent soul purpose, and to awaken to that purpose and live it. Conversely, Pholus may also help us to ground and concretize that purpose in the world. Pholus seems to help us refine our sense of responsibility to living true to soul’s oath.

Pholus can manifest as unusual ability or an unexpected experience that can catalyze profound change. Pholus often works in a mysterious or shrouded way, and often manifests in a whirlwind of confusion as some type of catalyzing agent, sometimes medicinal, that makes possible a transition or passage that otherwise would not occur. More about Pholus

Venus, Mercury, Pholus and the North Lunar Node conjoin Ras Algethi of Hercules and adjoining stars.

Hercules stands upside down in the northern Heavens, north above Ophiuchus, with his feet (foundation) in the Heptanomis (the seven heavens of the celestial dome), in the realm of the gods; and with his head and hands at work in the realm of humankind aiding those in the incarnate world struggling to claim their freedom from perpetuated mortal entrapment.

Ras Algethi is the lucida (brightest star) of this constellation and marks the head of Hercules. Ras Algethi embodies the wisdom of Hercules (derived partly from his heavenly heritage and partly from his challenging Earthian experience) and contributes significantly to the Ophiuchus / Scorpio theme. Hercules is one seeded from another realm but who is intimately aware of the human dilemma, the struggle and its cause (the alchemical amalgamation of those from the heavens with those of the Earth). His beauty and intelligence he gains from Alcmene his mother and his wisdom of evolutionary matters along with his shrewd sagacity he gains from Zeus is father. The motivation behind his undaunted and bold actions expresses from experiencing the human struggle and knowing the heavenly freedom possible. His presence upon the incarnational plane is of a service capacity, a mission of evolutionary proportion--to ensure our evolutionary freedom both personally and for all souls on Earth. Ras Algethi impels an accomplishment oriented drive to excel or to achieve something phenomenal, greater and freeing.

Venus and Mercury have been conjoining throughout most of this lunar cycle, starting with the Mars square Venus-Mercury on the New Moon. This conjunction has been providing an underlying current to apply our creative passion from an integrated heart and intellect. Now there is a strong focus to apply this integrated force in a service capacity that helps to support a passage. Pholus may bring an unexpected or mysterious agent that support this passage.

Disseminating Moon Phase Characteristics

The Disseminating Moon
Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon of November 14 occurs in mid-sidereal Gemini. It conjoins Dirah of Gemini, the foot of Castor; Mirzam of Canis Major; and Beta Monceros and the Rosetta Nebula of the Unicorn.

The foot of Castor is composed of Tejat, Eta Gemini, IC 444--a large emission nebula, and Dirah (Tejat Posterior) Mu Gemini. Tejat, Dirah and IC 444 portend eminence and renown, and will make visible that which has been suppressed, oppressed, hidden in the closet, but destined to be seen.

The Foot of Castor - IC444 emission nebula

The Foot of Castor

"IC433 is a supernova remnant of a star that exploded about 35000 years ago. It is located approx. 5000 light years away. To the left is IC444, a large emission nebula, which also contains a small reflection nebula (the small bluish patch in the upper middle). The two bright stars are Eta (Tejat) and Mu (Dirah) of Gemini." Eta and Mu are less than 2° apart. Image Credit:NASA Hubble Space Telescope

Alignments with the foot of Castor indicate that it is time to come out of hiding, to become visible, to stand forth in the limelight, and to make self visible, available, and approachable. This can also indicate the need to emerge from our own mental obscurations and illusions. Tejat and Dirah may indicate it is time to claim one’s role in the physical world, and to take the steps at hand that are required for the physical unfoldment of what we want and for our participation in the world. It is time to do what is required. Tejat can also indicate those who are physically marked in some way: including birth marks, genetic marks, or other unique features including tattoos, and especially jewels; or it may reveal marks or signs indicating it is time for demonstrable action.

As Tejat brings to the surface that which has been suppressed, we may see parts of our selves that seem rather dark and opposing to our emergence--the fears, hesitancies, and blockages within our selves that we must step through into our paths of fulfillment in the world. Tejat and Dirah invite us to be willing to walk through the shadows of self to claim our power and place in the physical world. The more we express the truth of who we are openly in the world the less forces attempting to suppress that truth have any power.

Mirzam, Beta Canis Major, is the “Scout of Sirius.” Mirzam conjoins both Alhena, the foot of Pollux (which marks the time to get off the fence of indecision and take action), and Tejat and Dirah, the foot of Castor. Mirzam provides a message to redirect our focus and daily efforts to prepare and become ready for a greater change to come, for a greater action, involvement, or event, an arrival of global proportion (indicated by Sirius).

Mirzam also conjoins Beta Monoceros and the Rosetta Nebula of Monoceros the Unicorn; and the Quasar OH471 of Auriga the charioteer. Beta Monoceros and Rosetta Nebula indicate a unique opportunity, one unexpected and magical that may be obscured or hidden, but which may appear seemingly out of nowhere, perhaps marked in a unique eye-catching or unmistakable way, an opportunity that can bring fragmented pieces into a greater unified effort.

Our Demonstrable Moon impels us to emerge from obscuration and to step forward, participating with our colleagues in a way that helps to better humanity. It also invites participation in unique opportunities, especially in areas associated with communication and commerce, and exchange of goods and services. Steps taken now may precede greater events to come or a greater level of participation.

The Sun enters sidereal Scorpio on November 17.

Last Quarter Moon Phase Characteristics

Last Quarter Moon
Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on November 18 just into early sidereal Leo, lying under the auspices of the Head of the Lion. The Moon conjoins Subra of Leo; Alpha Pictoris; Alpha and Beta Pyxidis; Alphard of Hydra and Suhail al Muhlif on the sail of the Argo and the Pup-A Super Nova Remnant of Argo Navis.

The Lion faces west, with its head looking over into sidereal Cancer with Algieba (the mane), Adhafera (on the crest of the mane), Rasalas (the crown), and Algenubi (the eye) all composing the Lion’s head. The star Subra, just south of the ecliptic on the Cancer-Leo cusp, is the Lion’s paw buried in the desert sand. Regulus (at 5° Leo) is considered the Heart or Essence of the Lion.

The stars forming the head of the Lion embody the wisdom of the Lion. They express in eloquence and beauty. Adhafera, the Lion’s main and Al Jabhah, Eta Leo, articulate more of the brain or mind of the Lion, the Lion’s persona and how the Lion thinks--perhaps with a sense of aloneness yet with audacious and undaunted confidence, and with genuine pride.

Here we find the trail-blazers, those willing to leave the comfort of mass-consensus, who are self-reliant to step forth into unexplored territory; the ones who look for and can envision new horizons, those who discover new possibilities waiting to be realized.

Often time the work of such adventures and trail-blazers is rarely seen until others later follow or make popular that which they have found, or until time itself brings the future into the present awareness of the masses. These way-showers are sometimes long gone, continuing over the next horizon, rarely to be seen. They may or may not be recognized for their tremendous, relentless and lonely pursuits, and they may or may not become famous, but the roads and doorways they open pave the way for others to come, and make possible future generations’ evolutionary unfoldment.

Subra is of prints, tracks, plans, codices and ancient maps--clues to hidden trails and paths obscured by the sands of time. Subra indicates a discovery process is at hand, one leading to the secret chambers, entryways, even to liftoff sites of the gods--places hidden from ordinary view. Simply, Subra asks that we dig, explore, uncover, and find a new way to navigate the passage that leads to living from the integrity and passion of out hearts, that which Regulus, the heart of the Lion, embodies.

Synthesizing with Subra is the primary star of the very southern constellation Pictoris, the Painter’s Easel. Alpha Pictoris indicates a picture or scenario is emerging from the æthers. This is a picture assembling itself as we break trail in our discovery process. Alpha Pictoris asks us to see the pathway or entryway emerging out of the mist covering an abyss, in the rock of a mountain side, in the billowing clouds blown by the wind, in the leaves fallen upon the ground, or simply in our mind’s inner eye. Alpha Pictoris asks us to creatively assemble the signs, to read the message, to see the coalescing spirit substance yet to become, to paint a new picture, a new life.

Alphard, Alpha Hydra, is the “Solitary One.” Alphard inspires us to step away from the comfort and security of the accepted and agreed upon consensus defining our known reality, to walk a lone path. It asks us to risk our reputations, our work, our lives, and our beliefs, driven by the passion within our hearts, to find new answers to the challenges that we face as we struggle to evolve. Alphard, in conjunction with the head of the Lion, is often of those who, for one reason or another, have self-exiled themselves from the norm, who stand alone, or are willing to, yet who create new ways that the masses would not otherwise pursue.

Neutron stars are compact objects that are created in the cores of massive stars during supernova explosions. The core of the star collapses, and crushes together every proton with a corresponding electron turning each electron-proton pair into a neutron. Neutron stars are the most dense objects known. They are only about 10 miles in diameter, yet they are more massive than the Sun. One sugar cube of neutron star material weighs about 100 million tons. According to astronomer and author Frank Shu, "A sugar cube of neutron-star stuff on Earth would weigh as much as all of humanity!" (NASA)

Argo Navis, the ship in the mythical story of Jason and the Argonauts, sails in the southern heavens along the Galactic Equator. Stars of the Argo are of our greater galactic purpose and soul mission--of seeking our evolutionary fulfillment, of fulfilling our soul purpose on Earth. Pyxidis, a sub-constellation of the Argo, is the Crow’s Nest (also compass) of the galactic ship, from which we scout for distant land. Alpha and Beta Pyxidis enter the ecliptic just into sidereal Leo, conjoining Subra, the paw of the Lion, and Alpha Pictoris.

Alpha and Beta Pyxidis ask us to peer beyond what is visible, beyond the common world, and to navigate through potential problems or obstacles upon our exploration. Pyxidis inspires us to find the map obscured in the sand, to see the picture waiting to emerge from the obscuring fog into visible sight, and to take an abode, place, vantage, or perspective from which we can see and find distant lands.

Pyxidis indicates a discovery process is at had, one that requires patience, foresight, and perceptual attentiveness. Although this often is a lonely process, it is one serving our greater evolutionary journey, and as well, the journeys of our colleagues and companions. Pyxidis has little interest in the superfluous pursuits of the common world, always seeking new ground, looking forward, gazing ahead through time, to see through the present limitations into the depths of what can yet become.

Pyxidis asks us to be a master observer. Present with our attention, insatiably on the lookout, we must be forever attentive to our greater journey, plotting the course, seeking the path to realize the dream of our highest potential destiny.

The Suhail stars of Velorum, on the sail of the Argo, are always indicative of refined subtle energies or currents at work that function at the level of the soul’s greater evolutionary journey--those transcendent to the dramatics of the terrestrial incarnational world. These are the currents those found breaking trail often attune to.

“Suhail, among the Persians, is synonymous for wisdom; as in the Al Anwar i Suhaili, the Lights of Canopus. Also a personal title taken in Arabia as a symbol for what is brilliant, glorious and beautiful.” (Allen)

Suhail al Muhlif is Suhail of the Oath. Conjoining is the Pup-A Supernova Remnant of Puppis on the stern of the Argo, which enters the ecliptic just before Regulus. Both entries add a transcendent galactic (soul-level) context to the conjoining theme of Alphard of the Hydra, the solitary one, and the stars creating the head of the Lion.

Suhail al Muhlif and Pup-A are indicative of soul oaths made and set in motion long ago, of soul level missions set out upon that transcend one’s incarnational sojourn--missions to open doorways and portals which allow us to reach for and achieve a greater fullness in life. The soul oaths taken are to maintain our personal integrity to our souls’ directives, to see to our evolutionary fulfillment in regard to our purposes in the world--to be of the Kahi Nub of Canopus, meaning the Golden Earth--to become what is beautiful and glorious. Pup-A also provides the inspiration and motivation to demonstrably live our soul oaths, to stand forth humble yet proud in that purpose.

Our Last Quarter Moon’s inner need to change impels us to break new trail, to go where we have not gone before. It brings a sense of adventure for those willing to leave their existing comfort and explore new territory. It may arouse the impetus to pursue a greater soul desire, purpose or covenant emerging from within self.

The Moon, Mars & Orcus

The Moon, Mars and Orcus conjoin a day after Last Quarter Moon, on November 19, our day of initiating change in the lunar cycle. The three conjoin Alpha and Gamma Sextans and Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major; and the Vela Pulsar of Argo Navis.

Mars

Mars is an initiating creative force, of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self reliance, and victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, or when poorly placed in a chart, Mars can express as the awry or ballistic use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (sacrum, base chakra, adrenals sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people—due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life; hence often dubbed the planet of war. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality / base chakra of self—alienating it even more.

Orcus

Orcus was discovered on Feb 19, 2004. Although Orcus is a bit smaller than Pluto, Orcus has a nearly identical orbital size, orbital period (year), and orbital inclination. However, Orcus’ orbital plane’s orientation in our solar system is tilted in the opposite direction from Pluto’s. For this reason, I tend to think of Orcus as Pluto’s compliment. Just as Pluto has Charon as its primary moon, so too does Orcus have a moon, Vanth, discovered on Nov 13, 2005. Just as Pluto and Charon are considered a dual planetary system, so too is Orcus and Vanth.

Although new to the astrological world and thus with an astrological influence not yet fully comprehended, based on Orcus’ orbital parameters, Orcus seems to address how we are applying our personal will for the greater well being of all humanity; how we are contributing to human society. Orcus motivates the use of our day-to-day lives, our daily activity for our souls’ greater purpose on Earth. Orcus seems to express a quiet profundity, almost unnoticed as it serves us to get in touch with our deeper soul essence and purpose--the oaths of our souls, our soul-level agreements, what we are really doing here on Earth.

Orcus moves quite slowly, thus its stellar placement is common to your generation, but its placement in your chart is unique to you. Orcus crossed its south node, moving from north to south of the ecliptic in the early 1950s, at the Gate of Man in early sidereal Gemini. Thus Orcus is of extra-significance for those born around this time. It may also suggest that many souls incarnating at this time did so with a common soul level covenant. More about Orcus.

South of the Lion is the Sextant. The primary stars are Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Sextans. The sextant is a navigational instrument used to determine the “vertical” position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon. The Sextant’s stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.

On a mundane level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth.

Much like sailing, changing winds require the application of personal will to change the boat’s tack to continue toward our longer-term destination. Without acting and make directional changes, we capsize. This requires the assessment of our current position and heading, and of the changing conditions around us--the weather, waves, winds and currents--to responsibly set a new tack along our journeys in life.

Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major extends from Megrez and Phecda (Phad); and the hind legs of the Great Bear extend from Al Kaphrah, which forms the hind feet of the Bear, Alula Borealis and Alula Australis, and Tania Borealis and Tana Australis. Al Kaphrah imparts a long-standing and established power, expressed as an assertive and powerful creative force applied to steer and protect. It is of stability, enduring strength and established authority. Al Kaphrah also impels the balanced distribution or delegation of power and authority.

The Vela Pulsar, an extremely old Super Nova remnant conjoining Alpha and Gamma Sextans and expressing through the Sextant’s theme, has a fundamental frequency of 11.2084065685 Hz., which translates to a color harmonic of 3800Å--a high spiritual violet, bordering near UV. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, constantly providing an inner message or reminder for those attentive to such subtleties. Although the Vela Pulsar can create somewhat of a spiritual serenity, much like we might have relaxing on a sailing ship in a light breeze, there demands the preparedness and alertness to leap into action as the increasing gales and changing currents require. The Vela Pulsar reminds us to remain serene but alert and preserving along our journey, to continually plot our position based upon our greater spiritual truth and to adjust our course accordingly so we can arrive to the sanctum we seek. The Vela Pulsar reminds us to set our direction based on the underlying evolutionary currents rather than on the winds of the moment, the diversionary and transitory surface breezes, to plot the path on our long-term (soul’s) direction. If there is any pulsar equated more to the maturity of the old soul (old salt), the Vela Pulsar is it.

This conjunction impels creative action upon our subtle soul-level evolutionary currents, and to be true to our greater soul paths in the world, to our oaths of our souls and our soul-level agreements, to what we are really doing here on Earth.

Balsamic Moon Phase Characteristics

Balsamic Moon
Focus to the Future

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on November 21 in sidereal Virgo. The Moon conjoins Algorab of Corvus and Corvus Nebula NGC 4361; Beta Hydra; the Sombrero Galaxy M104 and the Quasar 3C279 in Virgo; and Beta Volans.

"Messier 104 is the 104th object in the famous catalogue of nebulae by French astronomer Charles Messier (1730 - 1817). It was not included in the first two editions (with 45 objects in 1774; 103 in 1781), but Messier soon thereafter added it by hand in his personal copy as a “very faint nebula”. The recession velocity, about 1000 km/sec, was first measured by American astronomer Vesto M. Slipher at the Lowell Observatory in 1912; he was also the first to detect the galaxy’s rotation.” This ESO PR Photo of the Sombrero Galaxy was obtained with FORS1 multi-mode instrument at VLT ANTU on January 30, 2000. It is a composite of three exposures in different wavebands. Image and Caption Credit: ESO

Corvus is of high intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, insight and adaptability. The brains of Ravens are among the largest of any bird species. They are problem solvers, inventors and are highly opportunistic. Corvus is the keeper of secrets and a knowledge holder, but is also a prophetic revealer--the “raven messenger bird” to those who are spiritually and physically attuned, and who ask and listen. Corvus reminds us to pay acute attention to the signs or messages naturally expressing through the world around us moment-by-moment and to adapt accordingly. The signs found in the simplest of life experience can have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally invokes a response from the world around us. Corvus is a protector as well, of both the animal and human worlds, and will forewarn of approaching danger to avert unnecessary mishaps, as well as to affirm fortuitous opportunities, meetings or events.

Conjoining Algorab and Corvus is Quasar 3C279, which lies exactly on the ecliptic plane, along the spinal column of the Virgin, its spinal placement again articulating the natural mechanism or neurology of subtle energy communication.

Quasars (Quasi-Stellar-Radio-Source) are not only visible objects, but they emit a wide band of photons (light particles) throughout the electromagnetic spectra, from the infrared up through human’s visible range of light, through the ultra-violet (UV), the gamma rays range, and into the radio range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their multi-spectral emanations tend to stimulate an awareness that extends beyond or pierces our rather narrow band of visual perception, thereby offering new non-conforming possibilities of conceptual thought. They can express as images or non-conforming forms that can draw us into a transcendent perceptual exploration, which then motivates new behavior or a new expression fitting to our expanded awareness. In general, we might think of quasars as providing stimulus for alternative creative conception and expression.

Quasar 3C279 can manifest as imagery in the natural world for those perceptive enough that can be interpreted as “messages through nature,” which must be listened to and acted upon, as nature’s expression is the guidance itself at this zodiakal longitude.

The Hydra, in general, is of transcendent forces, those stirring at a sub-conscious level. Beta Hydra along with Xi Hydra were the Chinese “Tsing Kew” meaning “Green Hill” (Allen). Beta Hydra, conjoining Algorab of Corvus is of warnings regarding subtle forces that may lie hidden just below the surface of our conscious awareness, or just around the bend or over the hill along our paths. Here is where we find Corvus providing messages about such potential encounters, not only for our protection and/or guidance, but also for the protection for all life in the natural world that we might injure if we are not cautious and attentive. Beta Hydra invites us to submerge into a more subtle state of perception, to be attentive to our surroundings’ natural expression, to perceive that which we do not yet see.

Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with navigational mapping and transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically, laying the foundation that supports our souls’ uninhibited true expression--the capacity to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into new life expression or realm of consciousness.

The Balsamic Moon brings us back to the importance of living in atunement to the signs and messages expressing through the natural world around us--especially important in these rapidly changing times. Thus our rather progressive lunar cycle coalesces into its seed, which will sprout anew in the following lunar cycle.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury begins its retrograde in sidereal Scorpio on November 24, about 12 hours before the New Moon. Our next New Moon occurs on November 25, 2011 (GMT (Nov 24 MST) in sidereal Scorpio, conjoining the Head of the Scorpion. More to come then.
