Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
Our New Moon of February 21, 2012 lies in early sidereal Aquarius conjoining Neptune, Pallas and Chiron. The New Moon ensemble conjoins Sandaled of Aquarius, Enif of Pegasus, and Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis. This is a very fortuitous location in the Humanitarian Waterbearer, one that nourishes the body of humanity. Fomalhaut, one of the Four Royal stars of the zodiak, is the voice of humanity as a whole and brings attention to humanity's fundamental needs. Fomalhaut and associated stars impel us to seek ways to create an evolved humanitarian-based and flourishing society, one free from segregations and inequalities. They inspire new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. They are of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition.
Although inspired by a fortuitous and optimistic New Moon, we enter into a plethora of intense and stimulating planetary aspects and new cycles in this lunar month, both opportunistic and highly challenging at the same time. Retrograde Mars forms a “Grand Trine” with Pluto and Venus-Jupiter, opening an opportunistic doorway in a grand way. At the same time, retrograde Mars creates a “Grand Square” with Pallas, Chiron, Juno and the Lunar Nodes.
In essence, the First Quarter Moon of February 29 kicks off this intense stimulus as the Grand Square starts to form. The opportunistic Grand Trine follows, peaking on the Last Quarter Moon of March 14. Redefining the use of creative power and applying artistic creative intelligence toward humanitarian justice becomes a key theme. Relationships and how we interrelate become the other strong focus. This entire cycle produces challenging stimulus to cross a threshold that will lead us into what will become an incredibly transformative time over the next few years.
The best way I can describe this is to imagine walking over a long rope-railed wooden hand bridge suspended over a several-thousand foot abyss. You are half way across through what has already been a perilous journey. Trembling, or in the glee of insanity perhaps, you wonder how in the world you will ever make it across. You look back to see only the remains of broken wooden planks, most of which have fallen into the abyss below due to the weight of your struggles thus far. There is no going back, nor do you see what lies ahead through the tempestuous swirling fog around you. There is but one choice--to forge onward into a definitively unknown future.
Mars, in the midst of its retrograde, also begins its new 780-day Earth-Mars synodic cycle in this lunar month. The retrograde period itself, in a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, is a time of shifting gears from the previous 780-day Earth-Mars cycle into the next--a time of redefining the use and expression of our creative power in the world. Saturn also recently began its retrograde, adding to the complex. Mercury will begin its retrograde in this lunar cycle as well, which will start a new Earth-Mercury synodic cycle.
All of this leads into the next New Moon, which conjoins Mercury and Uranus, producing another dynamic lunar cycle motivating radical spontaneous change and transformation. Juno, asteroid of partnerships and relationships of all types, maintains prominence and begins its retrograde on the North Lunar Node on the next New Moon as well, initiating a shifting-gears and sorting process for relationships.
These next two lunar months merely precede entry in the extremely potent Uranus-Pluto Square, a revolutionary and revelatory time occurring from 2012 through 2015. This few year long square is the first square in the Uranus-Pluto 138-year cycle that began in 1965-1966, at the exact time of the peak of the Vietnam war and the emergence of the anti-war Flower Power Political Movement, which initiated a major social-political change for humanity. These few months also lead into the Venus retrograde, which culminates with the Venus Transit in June 2012, a “Passage of the Heart,” which reveals the way through the intense times ahead, and which will emblazon the desperately needed feminine principle on Earth for those that can embrace it. The changes we make in our lives and the paths we choose to pursue in this lunar cycle and those ahead may define our future.
These are just a few of many events occurring in the immediate period ahead. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more--the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.
"The stars would not be in the heavens if we were meant to walk in darkness."
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution.
Our New Moon of February 21, 2012 lies in early sidereal Aquarius. The New Moon conjoins Sadalmelik and Ancha of Aquarius; Fomalhaut of Aquarius; Enif of Pegasus; and Zeta Cygnus and the Pulsar PSR 2217+47 in Cygnus. Also of influence is Deneb of Cygnus, the overseeing and administrative star of this area of the heavens.
Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer, nourishes the body of humanity, articulated by Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis. Pisces Aus. (the southern fish) embodies the essence of human society, and Fomalhaut is its mouth into which the nourishing Aquarian waters flow, and through which humanity speaks. Fomalhaut is the voice of humanity. People with prominent Fomalhaut placements have a need to speak for humanity as a whole and about humanity's fundamental needs. They seek ways to create an evolved human society, one free from segregations. One of the "Four Royal Architects," Fomalhaut is the administrative seat of the aquatic quadrant of the heavens. Fomalhaut embodies the essence of sidereal Aquarius--inspiring future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society and the essence of philanthropy. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. It is of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition.
The word 'social' is derived from the Old French or the Latin 'socialis', meaning 'allied', or from 'socius' meaning 'friend'-- good words to describe the essence of Fomalhaut and Aquarius. Here all are recognized as allied friends, as one human family.

Lying in the northern heavens upon the galactic equator we find Cygnus the Swan, also called the Northern Galactic Cross. Deneb, tail of the swan, is the principal star of Cygnus and marks the top (head) of the northern galactic cross. Like Sadr, heart of the swan, Deneb lies along the galactic plane, but is quite close to the most northern point along the galactic plane--the primordial origin--which marks the location of Earth's pole at the start of Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle. This is a point of unity consciousness in the "evolutionary cycle of the soul," which is created by Earth's precessional cycle. This is where Earth's pole lies at rest, infused in the plane of galactic light. Deneb is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters as Earth's pole lifts itself from its slumber in Earth's precessional cycle. It thus is the messianic head of the precessional Cycle of the Holy Cross--of the evolutionary cycle of the soul. Administrative Deneb, a star more than a hundred times the diameter of our Sun, with a very high luminosity, governs the first of the seven heavens (evolutionary epochs) in the Earth's precessional cycle. Deneb embodies our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence before fragmentation into race, sex, or creed. Deneb inspires us to stand in the awareness of our pure soul essence, in this wholeness and to participate from the maturity of unity consciousness, unbiased and beyond the segregations and categorizations common to modern-day mass-consciousness.
Pegasus, in general, is of strength and support, that which lifts humanity above the entrapping forces and scenarios common to a less than socially mature world. Enif, Baham and Homam are a group of fortuitous stars that lie over the Aquarian waterbearer, forming the head of Pegasus.
Our inspirational humanitarian New Moon conjoins Pallas, nesting between Neptune and Chiron. Neptune and Chiron began a new ~85-year synodic cycle in February of 2010, just two years ago. The Neptune-Chiron synod curiously occurred in a Neptune-Chiron New Moon lunar cycle, and in the midst of the previous Mars retrograde-- presented in the February 14, 2010 Lunar Planner.
Excerpt: “The Chiron-Neptune synthesis, in part, inspires us to create entirely new, revolutionary and visionary alternatives to cross the vast abyss currently upon us. It may also require we discern that which are real alternatives that can truly form a bridge into the future from those that are impractical fantasy. Either way, the point is not for us to fix or re-build that which is crumbling around us, but to create a new world paradigm, a new societal structure fitting to our emerging new world consciousness.”
Chiron and Neptune are just beginning to separate from their long-standing synthesis (now just a few degrees apart), and thus this 85-year synodic theme is just beginning to unfold. Now, Pallas arrives to join Neptune and Chiron.
Mature Pallas expresses as the artful use of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality’s paradox. Mature Pallas expresses from the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, and from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality--from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another--and to claim that experience as wisdom. It invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express non-judgmental courageous solution beyond life’s paradoxes created by opposing forces.
Pallas is applier and defender of wisdom and truth; the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness. Mature Pallas accepts personal responsibility for having co-created our experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness. Pallas has the strategic capacity to link, unify and bring together; and has wonderful perceptual skills for planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts or artists. Pallas significantly effects emotional and physical equilibrium.
Pallas issues can express as spiteful withdrawal, which ultimately can manifest as self-sabotage due to judgments about use of power or awry creative / sexual energy. It can also express as righteousness, judgment and invalidation of opposite or alternative views, lashing out with a vengeance. Pallas issues can express as an imbalance in the masculine and feminine aspects of self; sexuality issues, dyslexia and perceptual problems. Pallas governs the Liver / Spleen balance (violet / red), which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain.
Pallas lies slightly north of the ecliptic less than 1/2 south of Sadalmelik and thus strongly infuses this star’s emanations into our New Moon theme and into our corresponding Pallas-related bio-energetics.
Sadalmelik, Alpha Aquarius, the principal star creating the Diamond of the Aquarian Waterbearer. The Diamond consists of Sadalmelik, Sadachbia, Seat (Pi), and Eta Aquarius, with Zeta Aquarius lying in their midst. Excluding Sadalmelik, we have the prominent asterism (to skywatchers) composed of Sadachbia, Seat, Eta, and Zeta Aquarius, which create a 4-star "Y"--a symbol used in electronics to denote an antenna--that which transmits and receives, is expressive and receptive--articulating a perceptual sensitivity to the bidirectional flow of energy. The "Y" of stars is generally depicted as the Urn of Aquarius, from where the nourishing humanitarian waters flow.
Sadalmelik, the "lucky one of the kingdom" is the directing force of this flow. Sadalmelik creates an air of recognition and acceptance in the kingdom of human affairs--especially for those involved in the arts and sciences. Sadalmelik brings fortuitous opportunity for those with humanitarian interest, and who are in those arenas where such interest can be expressed. Sadalmelik is of leadership and prominent alignments with it inspire visionary administration of humanitarian efforts.
Ancha, Theta Aquarius, south of and conjoining Sadalmelik is the Waterbearer's talisman on his belt or thigh and articulates this fortuitous capacity for fulfillment. It is of one who “holds the vision” of the Aquarian Waterbearer. Ancha is also of knowledge, secrets, science, research, writing, scribes, teachers, record-keepers and mediators, and the articulation of this intelligence.
Sadachbia, Gamma Aquarius, is the "lucky star of hidden things." Sadachbia can indicate that a physical gift of extreme value can be discovered, revealed, claimed or given.
The stars conjoining and forming the Diamond of Aquarius produce one of the purest areas of resonance in the ecliptic and one of the most fortuitous--the Angel Point of the Zodiak.
The Pallas-Neptune synod occurred on January 29, 2012 in early sidereal Aquarius, initiating a new ~4.8-year Pallas-Neptune synodic cycle. The Pallas-Chiron synod occurs on March 12, 2012 in early sidereal Aquarius, about 4° further along from Neptune, initiating a new 5-year Pallas-Chiron synodic cycle.

The Pallas-Neptune synthesis in early sidereal Aquarius is two-fold. It inspires the expression of inspirational and visionary art with a humanitarian purpose that is formulated from a transcendental integration of intuition and intelligence. It also impels a movement to support social and cultural justice for the people, to stand up for causes that dissolve boundaries and support the unification of and respect for all life.
The Pallas-Chiron synthesis in early sidereal Aquarius inspires creating the means and bridges that support the healing of humanity. These generally would be intellectually and artfully creative social-political movements that are all embracing of humanity’s needs as a whole, those that transcend the segregations of race, culture, country and creed.
The “artistic expression of our creative intelligence,” beyond any judgment-based segregations, that supports the emergence of a new humanitarian-based societal paradigm is of focus in this New Moon. This lunar cycle impels the creation and administration of highly creative and visionary pursuits that lead us forward through what may be a world in tumultuous upheaval but which may become an unprecedented portal in time and space that leads to a new world--the Diamond of Aquarius. Pallas is also the defender of Truth and Justice, and the applier of Wisdom.
The Sun conjoins Pallas slightly after the New Moon, on February 22, and it then conjoins Chiron on February 24. This brings illumination and inspiration to the Pallas Chiron synthesis. It also marks the midpoint of vision and realization in the current Earth-Pallas synodic cycle and in the Earth-Chiron synodic cycle.
The Pallas synodic cycle began on July 29, 2011 in early sidereal Capricorn, under the auspices of Aquila the Eagle and inspired by Indus, the shaman and keeper of sacred knowledge. This synodic cycle was presented in the July 1, 2011 Lunar Planner.
Excerpt: “This Earth-Pallas synodic cycle provides opportunity and inspiration for the intelligent creative application of our strategic arsenal of tools--those personal, those of countries and those global--beyond the petty competitive mentality of this side verses that side; but from a place of global vision, from balance and poise for solution; and with respect for the sacred land upon which we live. Sounds like a tall order for the world. But let's start with demonstrating it in our personal lives and in any business or academic pursuits that we may be involved with.”
The Chiron synodic cycle began in August 2011 (in early sidereal Aquarius). The Chiron (and Neptune) synodic cycles were presented in the July 30, 2011 Lunar Planner.
Excerpt: Both of these new synod cycles continue to inspire new and visionary alternatives and bridges that improved the human condition, especially through the arts and sciences. They inspire change that serves this purpose personally and in the world at large. They inspire altruistic support of efforts that serve to create a wholesome and evolved human society.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, The day leading into the Crescent Moon is an ideal time to work with the Venus audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon of February 25 occurs in late sidereal Pisces and conjoins Venus and Eris, which are conjoining.
We are nearing the “eastern elongation” of Venus. This means that Venus is approaching its furthest point east of the Sun, as seen from Earth, before the Sun-Venus angle will start to decrease, which will eventually culminate into the Venus Transit, when Venus and Sun conjoin and Earth and Venus begin their new synodic cycle in early June. During Venus’ eastern elongations, Venus and the Crescent Moon conjoin, which will occur throughout the next few Crescent Moons. You can learn more about how this all works here: E-Motions of the Heart: Venus Elongations & the Crescent Moon. The actual eastern elongation occurs on March 27, 2012.
This Crescent Moon provides an additional visual treat. The Crescent Moon accompanies both Venus and Jupiter, as the two approach their conjunction, which occurs a bit later in this lunar cycle, when the Venus-Jupiter, Pluto and retrograde Mars Grand Trine forms.
You can see Venus, Jupiter and the Crescent Moon in the western sky just after sunset. Jupiter and Venus are the brightest objects in the sky, making this threesome visible even under the worst viewing conditions – not to be missed. We will see the same on the following March Crescent Moon.
Venus and Jupiter will continue to become closer each evening following this Crescent Moon. By March 13, when the two make their conjunction in mid-sidereal Aries, they will appear to be about 3° apart in the evening sky. (Although conjoined, Venus lies north of the ecliptic, 3° from Jupiter.) This will be especially beautiful due to the fact that when two planets are this close, their light, focused through the lens of the eye falls upon a part of the retina of the human eye called the fovea. This is where we see things in greatest detail, in the highest resolution (high-definition). (This is presented by optometrist Dr. Stuart Hiroyasu of Bishop, California in the NASA article: “Cold and Spellbinding: An Alignment of Planets in the Sunset Sky”)
Although Venus and Eris are just now conjoining from Earth’s view, the Venus-Eris synod occurred back in mid-January, which began a new 225-day synodic cycle. Due to Eris’ very slow movement, these synods drift ever so slightly through late sidereal Pisces. The Venus-Eris synods are especially significant because this is Venus’ exalted location in the ecliptic.
The Crescent Moon, Venus and Eris conjoin Revati of Pisces (material wealth and resources), Baten Kaitos of Cetus (the belly of the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness), and outstretched arms of the entrapped Princess Andromeda. This Crescent Moon’s theme is the same as the Venus-Eris synodic cycle theme. Rather than reposting this material about Eris, Venus and the associated star alignments, please read about it in the December 24, 2011 Lunar Planner.
That theme now becomes creative inspiration to expound upon our Aquarian lunar cycle theme. Our attention is especially brought to the recent upheaval of our global financial paradigm and in many people’s personal lives and livelihoods. For many building a bridge into the future with little or no financial resources, this seems to be an impossible mission. Yet this upheaval has been and will continue to be motive to evolve a more wholistic, inclusive rather than exclusive, humanitarian-based financial paradigm that works for all people. Without holding the Diamond of Aquarius in our minds’ eye, participating as one cooperative world and amalgamating resources and expertise in philanthropic efforts, we haven’t a bridge to cross, let alone a viable future personally and collectively.
This Crescent Moon and the eastern elongation of Venus, which spans several Crescent Moons, precedes and leads into the upcoming June 2012 Venus Transit. This also brings our attention to the “Passage of the Heart”--the way through the times ahead. This is participating from the heart and from within the feminine principle on Earth and in our daily lives--what the Venus Transit is all about--infusing the feminine principle into our world. The last pair of Venus Transits occurred in 1874/1882. The next pair will occur in 2117/2125. More about the Venus Transits. This pair (June 8, 2004/June 6, 2012) is especially unique and extra significant because they are the first to occur after and through Earth’s erect Precessional Cross--as we make passage through this primary transition in Earth ~25,000-year precessional cycle. Now in this cycle, Earth’s pole begins to lean back toward the plane of our galaxy. (For the last ~12,000 years, Earth’s north pole has been leaning away from the galactic plane, producing a ~12,000-year period of temporal darkness in this cycle.) We now begin to dissolve the separation of the masculine and feminine principles due to the inpouring galactic light, as we move back toward unified field awareness in this Great World Cycle. More about Earth’s Precessional Cross and the Evolutionary Cycle of the Soul.
This Grand Square, which continues throughout this lunar cycle, begins to form its first leg on February 28 as Pallas and Chiron conjoin while squaring Juno, which is approaching the North Lunar Node in sidereal Scorpio. The Sun and Moon activate this first square as the Sun squares the Lunar Nodes and the Moon opposes Juno on the South Lunar Node on the First Quarter Moon of February 29.
Three simultaneous things occur here of significance: the Pallas-Chiron conjunction square Juno; Sun square the Lunar Nodes, and all of this occurring leading into the First Quarter Moon—which creates our external stimulus to action in this lunar cycle.
The Pallas-Chiron theme, in essence, is our Lunar Cycle Theme. This conjunction occurs slightly past Sadalmelik, with Palllas in the Diamond of Aquarius and the two conjoining Deneb of Cygnus and Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis. Juno lies between the ecliptical longitudes of Dchubha, the head of the Scorpion and Antares, the heart of the Scorpion, which marks mid-sidereal Scorpio. Juno lies 12° north of the ecliptic in Ophiuchus. This is also where it will station to begin its retrograde while conjoining the North Lunar Node.
Juno holds a key and prominent placement here and in this forming Grand Square. The Lunar Nodes create a magnetic force impelling movement from the South Lunar Node toward the Juno-North Lunar Node. Thus, Juno reveals where the answer lies and it is where growth and opportunity is gained.
Ophiuchus and the sidereal sign of Scorpio are associated with our education regarding the use of primal creative forces and raw creative power. The entire image of Ophiuchus standing upon the scorpion with this magnificent snake reaching for the North Crown represents claiming our self-mastery to attain evolutionary fulfillment beyond of the karmic-dharmic based reincarnational process of soul growth, the balancing of human experience in the polarity of duality. This is to become ascended in vibrational resonance, an illumined being free from perpetuated entrapment--literally the illumination of the double-banned lattice of the DNA (the urn of the soul) into the one radiant spiral of light. This is to live in a unified awareness beyond the entrapments inherent to a limited perception of a dualistic world.
In essence, the stars of this area of the zodiak provide us the opportunity to graduate into a new level of self-realization. In this process, we become aware that we create our experience and are responsible for the life scenarios in which we find ourselves. We shift from feeling helpless, even justifying why we are entrapped as if victims of life placing blame outside of self, into a greater maturity and wisdom. We learn to express mastery over the dualistic forces that were once entrapping even destructive, living from our greater soul wisdom in unity consciousness (exemplified by Ophiuchus standing over the Scorpion). Here we are impelled to become fully self-aware and self-responsible, with the ability to use and direct the creative forces of life and define our own evolutionary destiny.
Juno conjoins three potent deep space X-ray sources: Circini X-1; Scorpio X-1, and Hercules X-1. Also conjoining are Beta and Delta Chameleon and Eta Lupus.
The three x-ray sources, Circini X-1; Scorpio X-1, and Hercules X-1 offer an initiatory sequence supporting personal transmutation and self-mastery using the creative forces of life as exemplified by Ophiuchus standing upon the Scorpion. They synthesize with the theme of the Head of the Scorpion (becoming self-responsible for creating our reality).
The Centaur, lying south of the ecliptic, is benevolent teacher of this self-mastery. To live the teachings of the Centaur and to walk the path of the soul requires we take full responsibility for our incarnational experience and master the primal forces creating and destroying life. This first initiatory stargate, Circini X-1, conjoining the head of the Scorpion and lying at the foot of the Centaur upon the Galactic Equator, provides a transmutational force and the opportunity to demonstrate one's choice to walk the higher path of soul, that of self-mastery and self-responsibility. This demonstrable action begins a transmutational process at the experiential-cellular level of self such that soul-level action becomes unquestionably natural. The transformation occurring at the Circini X-1 initiatory phase requires action from the interest in our greater path of self mastery in the world, otherwise it makes one seem complacent or merely agitated if motive to change or act is from personality interest alone. Circini X-1 demands an emotional maturing, to embrace the emotions we experience as our own doing rather than blaming how we feel outside of self--a prerequisite to self-mastery.
Beta and Delta Chameleon separate Cir X-1 from Sco X-1 and Herc X-1 (in ecliptical longitude). They articulate a metamorphic shift where personality facade melts away and soul self emerges. This is a very personal and experiential area of the zodiak regarding conscious use of our creative power and sexual energy for our personal transmutation into our self-mastery. For the less mature, this may express as avoidance, attempting to merely change colors to fit in.
The Great Hercules Globular Cluster M13
There are approximately one million stars in this globular cluster.

Scorpio X-1 can stimulate a state of high excitement and emotional drive expressing as unconscious abandon for the less-masterful individual who has not yet matured to a level of self-awareness, and as a healthy passionate sensuality and altered ecstatic awareness for the self-masterful. Scorpio X-1 has a resonance providing conscious access between the waking a dream state--the hypnagogic realm; also what may be consider the tantric and shamanistic realms.
Northern Herculis X-1 invites us to become self-aware and knowledgeable in the application of our primal psychic forces and the natural creative forces governing life and death. Hercules X-1 is an X-ray emitting neutron star, a star that has collapsed to such a magnitude that highly energized particles are forced outward creating a relentless and intense drive, one that also inspires the amalgamation of our creative forces to achieve a greater awareness, rapture, and freedom of being; as well as a desire for knowledge and spiritual prowess regarding the primal, carnal and dreamlike forces of life. This is the resonance between the base chakra and the pineal gland or epiphysis, the epiphany center of the brain. This is the activation of the central conduit from the base chakra to the pineal, which can result in a powerful transmutational process. It is the meaning of allowing "thine eye to become single"--meaning to fully turn on the pineal, to open the all-seeing eye of creative illumination.
Ultimately, if we pursue a level of personal metamorphosis and self-mastery, beyond the common person, as exemplified by Ophiuchus, we experience an inversion of our perception of the world. This inversion is from seeing self as being entrapped and suppressed by forces that seem to be outside of self, bound by our 3-d realmspace (or near-field), to establishing the capacity within self to express outwardly through the will of intent so as to direct those forces creating our lives--from the inside out--to consciously steer our creative power to manifest a new reality for ourselves.
This inner metamorphosis is not something done from how we think. It is about spatial dimensionality, allowing a perceptual awakening within self, such that we shed our limiting and previous human mold.
Juno’s North Node placement, its station occurring with these stellar energetics, and its entire retrograde cycle which starts on the following New Moon and which continues throughout the next three lunar cycles, is going to create a natural sorting process in relationships and partnerships of all types. It may sort out those that will function from a greater spiritual maturity and self-empowerment, who will walk the higher path of the soul, embody the “passage of the heart” and create the way to a new world paradigm, from those who may get increasingly lost in the conflicts that are inherent in a blame and victim mentality as we move through the intensifying and radical transformation ahead, partly and significantly catalyzed by the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square occurring over the next few years.
Due to Juno’s station, Juno and Chiron maintain their square within 1° throughout the duration of this lunar cycle. They also aspect the Mercury station, which occurs on March 12, with Mercury and Vesta conjoining, and this occurs exactly at the same time as the Mars-Jupiter-Pluto Grand Trine. Thus, the Juno-Chiron square and the Mercury station-Vesta conjunction both act as stimulus to move through the portal opened by the Grand Trine. This will be a doorway of opportunity that will open and close, cloaked by rather intense, perhaps dramatic, conditions—all starting on our First Quarter Moon. Since Juno will enter into its retrograde at the time of its square to Chiron, it will not make its final square with Chiron until October 7, 2012, well after it completes its retrograde.
Pallas, moving faster than Chiron, will start to separate from Chiron moving through the Diamond as we progress through the lunar cycle. Pallas impels the artful and intelligent expression of the Pallas-Chiron conjunction and their new synodic theme, as well as that of the Juno square to Pallas-Chiron. The actual Pallas-Chiron synod occurs on March 7, nesting between Sadalmelik and Sadachbia.
Juno’s square to Pallas-Chiron impels an inner need to make changes in our relationships based upon the Pallas-Chiron theme--the theme of this lunar cycle. It may stir an unrest in the status quo aspect of our relationships and arouse a desire for a greater creative involvement or expression in our relationships. Sitting on the fence is no longer an option. If our existing relationships (those of all types) are of conflict, or are insipid and do not provide the opportunity to shift into a more embracing expression, then they may fall apart or destruct as new ones form over the months ahead, throughout Juno’s retrograde.
The Sun squaring the Lunar Nodes is a phenomena confusingly but commonly called a "Moon Wobble"--a term coined by Carl Payne Tobey. He chose this term not to refer to a physical wobble of the moon, but to an instability of people's judgment, which he noted to be notoriously poor during such times, especially of those in leadership positions. This effect tends to extend several days around this aspect. To my knowledge, Carl did not differentiate between Sun approaching the North Node verses Sun approaching South Node.
The Sun has now reached min-Aquarius and conjoins Skat (Delta Aqu.) and Zeta Aquarius, in the Diamond, Seat and Eta of the Diamond. This is area of sidereal Aquarius articulates the vessels through which the humanitarian’s nourishing waters flow.
Skat, Delta Aquarius, is "star of the foundation," marking the shinbone of the waterbearer. Skat is of humanitarian philanthropic foundations, organizations, and business vessels through which material and financial support can flow for future-oriented humanitarian focused projects and for the nourishment of an evolved human society flourishing in the arts and sciences. Skat inspires action in support this pursuit. Skat is possibly derived from the Arabic Al Sak (the shinbone) or from Al Shi'at, meaning "a wish" (Allen).
In this case, there may be a tendency to focus upon social issues and the need for humanitarian support, and the structures, vessels and organizations that support a humanitarian based society, defined by the Sun’s location, and to focus upon the domestic infrastructure and needs of self, home and family (Aldebaran South Node). Although our South Node Moon does indicate the need for personal action in the physical world, the way forward however, requires a revolution in how we interrelate in our personal lives and in the world, in the nature and functionality of our partnerships, how we interrelate in the social, business and political arenas (Antares (Juno) North Node). In fact Juno’s retrograde under the auspices of Ophiuchus and through the stars forming the hand of Ophiuchus, which lies over the head of the Scorpion, articulates the need for something to die, a less mature modality of relating based in inequality, control, dependency, fighting and one-upmanship.
We, humanity, must evolve out of a who-did-what-to-whom victim mentality, fighting to gain from another’s loss, to a more mature form of relating based in being self-responsible for our lives and participating with mutual respect, trust and equality--all Juno issues.
Thus, Juno’s theme and this First Quarter Moon Solar T-square is complimentary and challenging to the Mars retrograde, which is about redefining how we use our creative power in the world, based as well around fundamental survival issues. Mars and the North Lunar Node-Juno (stationing) will eventually square as Mars moves into position to create the Grand Square with Chiron-Pallas and the Juno-Lunar Nodes--at the time of the Mars-Pluto-Jupiter Grand Trine later in this lunar cycle.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on February 29 in mid-sidereal Taurus (our extra day this year).
First Quarter - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley

If the above does not manifest enough stimulus to motivate action, the Moon’s placement opposite Juno on the South Lunar Node adds additional catalyst. Here we feel the weight of the past and of our past patterns along with a strong pull to revolt, to make changes in our physical experience. Again, this not only is in regard to personal relationships, but also in professional, business and political relations.
The Lunar South Node First Quarter Moon conjoins Aldebaran of Taurus with the North Lunar Node conjoined Antares, just a few degrees from Juno, and not to forget the Sun’s square to the Lunar Nodes. Emotional equilibrium and clearheadedness is essential and decisive action is required.
Although orange giant Aldebaran is not a supergiant star like Antares or Betelgeuse, it is still 44 times our Sun’s diameter and shines with a luminosity of 425 times that of our Sun. It thus has significant influence throughout central sidereal Taurus, and embodies the principle theme of Taurus.
Aldebaran, Eye of the Bull, is one of the "Four Royal Architects" bringing order to the heavens. Directly opposite Aldebaran is Antares, Heart of the Scorpion. Both of these stars mark the centers of their respective signs. The other Royals are Regulus of Leo, Heart of the Lion (Leo), the law-giver; and humanitarian Fomalhaut in sidereal Aquarius. Aldebaran, the "Bull's Eye," means the mathematical center. The Aldebaran-Antares axis was the primary fiducial (reference point) for the Babylonian zodiak (See Robert Powell’s book: History of the Zodiac). Aldebaran (and sidereal Taurus) is the primogeniture of the zodiak, the Earth sign from which the bounty of life springs.
Aldebaran holds the vision for global leaders and world servers inspiring the administrative planning of world affairs, specifically for physical logistics and a global infrastructure designed to support humanity through evolutionary growth and change. Aldebaran is a star of pioneering leadership. At a personal level, Aldebaran is of business and the home. It inspires vision and impels initiative to act for our physical wellbeing. Aldebaran inspires involvement with physical places, business and projects supportive of our modalities of living for self, family and friends. Aldebaran inspires us to take the physical action to manifest our visions in the physical world.
Antares, the 15th brightest star, is about 700 times the size of our sun, and is one of the largest stars. It is quite elongated with a polar diameter about 63% of its equatorial diameter, red in color, said to rival Mars in brightness when they are seen together.
In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, and with expounded meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (an arena common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with tenacious adamancy. This is especially in regard to taking a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.
However, It is only the less aware whom mistake this power point in the ecliptic to mean fight or destroy what one still perceives as forces outside of self required to combat. Antares marks a point of empowerment in sidereal Scorpio, a point of immanation. For those who have embraced their initiations and claimed their self-empowerment, who have graduated from playing the victim in life, and who have learned to take responsibility for their reality, which occurs at the head of the Scorpion, this is a place of self-empowerment. The Heart of the Scorpion teaches us to realize the inseparable nature of life, to reconcile the forces within and without, to know of the oneness and inseparable permeability of the Creation Force--as is exemplified by Ophiuchus, who demonstrably stands over the Scorpion, the exemplar of this wisdom. Either way, Antares motivates us to take responsibility for our reality, for the lives we create, and to "take a stand" for our truth and live it.
Antares ensures that the current and accepted business and political systems, and our modes of living do not become static or antiquated. Antares ensures growth, evolution and change. If the Scorpion meets those bullheaded and stuck in their antiquated modality of life, the Scorpion’s sting is not far off--hence its classical association with rebellious and destructive forces. Antares keeps the vision of Aldebaran up-to-date by challenging authoritarian powers. When there are rebellious or terrorizing forces assaulting the established order, this reflects the need to realize that the established order is no longer supporting in ways truly nourishing to the needs of the people, and requires some type of reform--reform that if denied, may result in some level of, otherwise unneeded, destruction.
The Aldebaran / Antares axis is indicative of political systems, their people, their opposing politics, business and teaching.
This entire set of aspects occurring on the First Quarter Moon can stimulate a rebellious uprising, for some people perhaps a violent one, for those more mature, a highly creative one, either way educational. This stimulus may be driven by domestic conditions and political systems that simply no longer work. And again, Juno’s stationing North Node placement in this geometry indicates this is about reforming how we all interrelate on planet Earth. Either way, graduation time is at hand, one way or another.
On March 3, 2012, just before the Gibbous Moon, Mars in the midst of its retrograde now lies opposite the Sun from Earth’s view. This means that the Sun, Earth and Mars align, which defines the start of the new 780-day Earth-Mars synodic cycle. This occurs in sidereal Leo conjoining Mizar of Ursa Major Chort of Leo and other conjoining stars. There is more in-depth material on the new Mars synodic cycle and the entire Mars retrograde, which is in The 2012 Mars Retrograde 2012 article, so I will only provide some excerpts here.
A brief synopsis:
Mizar of the Great Bear, Zeta Ursa Major, is the overseeing and predominant star of this area of the zodiak. Mizar articulates raw fiery energy that must express one way or another. Mizar must have a creative outlet, but for its proper expression, we must apply it with creative vision. Mizar brings attention to use of our creative energies; creative and destructive tendencies, and the fear to create lest it may result in destruction. Here we learn the nature of such volatile forces. Mizar, with averted alignments is also known for catastrophic fires or massacres. Mizar can however express quite artistically–just as gunpowder can express as beautiful fireworks or devastating explosions. Mizar tends to express in a grand way, in character with showy and dramatic Leo. Mizar imparts a dynamic, action oriented creative artistic expression. Also influencing is Asterion and the Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151 in Canes Venatici, the barking hounds, which stimulates dynamic, powerful and directed action.
Although of a dynamic, outgoing, artistic creative character, Mizar, Asterion and Chort, on the hind of the Lion, can also produce a lot of dramatic racket and fiery commotion due to toxic conditions or an unrefined awareness. This can also be a part of the often diversionary tactics intended to distract the unsuspecting from the real issues or path at hand....
Thus, our new 780-day Earth-Mars synodic cycle impels dynamic creative expression that requires clear and focused applied force. It invites us to transcend the on-stage global dramatics and superfluff, and to attune to the more subtle evolutionary currents guiding our lives. It impels creative and audacious leadership in a way that will make a significant shift in altering our evolutionary course.... For the ego-driven maniacal world powers, this may not be the best placement for this Mars synod.
The entire Mars retrograde occurring now provides opportunity to redefine how we use our creative power in our personal lives an in the world, the results of which will express through this new synodic cycle. The theme of the new cycle fully engages as Mars returns direct on April 14 (just as Earth and Saturn begin their new synodic cycle). At that time, Mars conjoins the stars of the Sextant... (more about this in the District Zodiac article).
The previous Earth-Mars synod, occurred on January 29, 2010 in mid-sidereal Cancer. This synodic cycle was presented in the January 15, 2010 Lunar Cycle. The next synodic cycle will begin on April 8, 2014 in late sidereal Virgo, which will be a compounded synod with Haumea.
For a bit of Mars attunement, see The Moon & Mars Special Feature Bioharmonic Audio-Video (best effect with headphones).
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, The days leading into the Earth-Mars synod is an ideal time to work with the Mars audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
Our Gibbous Moon occurs on March 4 in early sidereal Cancer. It also creates a T-square with Venus opposing retrograde Saturn. The Moon conjoins Aludra of Canis Major; Samoht, Alpha Monoceros (the Unicorn); and Alsciaukat of the Lynx. Also conjoining is the Irregular Galaxy M82 in the Great Bear; Anwar al Farkadain, Eta of Ursa Minor, the faintest star of the seven that form the Little Dipper or Bear Cub; Tegmine, Zeta Cancer, and Ahadi of Puppis, Argo Navis.
The outstretched Lynx, or mountain cat, lies just north of sidereal Cancer. The boundaries of the Lynx are obscure, as are its stars, appropriately as the Lynx merges between seen and unseen worlds--capable of transiting the bridge between the two realms. The Lynx is known for its extraordinarily effortless ability to quietly move through the physical world, and to see without being seen or without physically looking, as in remote viewing. The Lynx is of intuition and of secrets shared or revealed. It is symbolic of the ability to see the hidden mystery and secrets of life; to see the spirit moving or expressing through matter. To have this perceptive and sensitive ability is to see where doorways become accessible in what otherwise may seem to be just a repetitive and mundane world.
Alsciaukat or the Lynx asks one to not be deluded by what is or is not happening at the apparent level or in what things look like on the surface, but to intimately trust while being in "forever alertness"--for it is a matter of spacetiming in which doorways coincide between the physical time dependent light realms and the non–physical realms governed by superluminal forces of nature.
Theses portals are where synchronistic and truly magikal opportunities spontaneously appear that allow us opportunity to transcend the separation of space and time and its logistical process to a higher order of experience. Living in the present, in forever alertness, is the key to shift our vibrational mode to experience an entirely new octave of reality, by-passing the lower order, time-consuming, logistical path of learning, instead to arrive instantaneously to the new awareness and subsequent corresponding experiential plane.
To be in forever alertness we must come to a place of unconditional openness, to be in unconditional acceptance of our current experience moment-by moment. This in turn allows us to participate fully in the present, naturally and in perfect harmony, so as to arrive at the right place at the right time, to meet these dimensional portals occurring in spacetime. Alsciaukat, the thorn in the Lynx, reminds us to stay in ever-present attentive alertness to see such opportunities and to seize the moment.
Aludra, Wezen, and Adhara lie under latter sidereal Gemini and early Cancer, and create the hindquarter of the Canis Major. Although of this Sirian constellation, Aludra and Wezen are a pair of their own class. They lie much further in distance than the other stars thus being of their own realm. Aludra served Hipparchus to make his famous astronomical reckoning about the precession of the equinoxes. Aludra is also the only star of the constellation that lies across the Gemini-Cancer cusp. Aludra is the singular of Al Adhara, the Virgins--hence, a pure one of the breed. This is the white stallion, the black sheep, the unique person that does not fit in. Aludra most often time manifests a person who appears through unexpected space-time portals, with the magik provided by Alpha Monoceros. An Aludra-type individual seems strikingly unique in some way--out of the ordinary.
Samoht, Alpha Monoceros, is an Egyptian star name, actually older than the constellation Monoceros. Samoht means "one who has traveled far." Alpha Monoceros appears dimmer than Beta Monoceros, however Beta is a triplet star system, thus its brighter magnitude is due to the combined light from all three components. Alpha Monoceros is brighter than any of the three components of Beta, thus rightfully holds the Alpha designation.
Monoceros, the Unicorn, is of a species not common to earth--one magikal and mystical. Alpha Monoceros brings fortuitous situations, experiences or involvements quite out of the ordinary, which often appear unexpectedly. They may manifest while traveling or appear to come from another time or from a distant location. The spiral of the Unicorn's horn embodies its magic, but for it to manifest in our lives, we must live in the power of our uniqueness, not in denial of it. Alpha Monoceros invites us to be open to the unexpected and unique; and to relate to such experience without need to fit the experience into mass consensus or the norm. The synthesis of Samoht and Aludra can manifest as unexpected opportunistic meetings with very unique people, often fleeting opportunities that must be seized in the moment.
A unique view of the very unique Starburst Galaxy M82 in Ursa Major "M82 shows intense star formation packed in dense star clusters. This powers plumes of hot gas that extend for tens of thousands of light-years above and below the starry plane of the galaxy. This cosmic hurricane is traveling at more than a million miles an hour into intergalactic space." (Dr. Linda Smith, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London) Image credit: Mark Westmoquette (UCL), Jay Gallagher (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Linda Smith (UCL), WIYN/NSF, NASA/ESA.
Also conjoining Alsciaukat, Aludra and Samoht is the Irregular galaxy M82 in Ursa Major. Irregular galaxies tend to express as some type of abnormality, distortion, or uncommon trait regarding the conjoining stellar themes--hence the unexpected nature of the thorn in the Lynx, of the unexpected portals presenting themselves (the conjoining Monoceros), and of the unique people native to this area of the zodiak. Fitting to the black hole model, M82 requires we release any prejudices and limiting perspectives about the differences and oddities found in the multiplicity of our individuality. It requires we pull forth the totality of our own oddity from our true soul essence into our incarnational expression to allow the gift of this uniqueness to manifest. In typical black hole fashion this is an all or nothing deal, there is either total acceptance or total rejection of the unique situation that is occurring, no in-betweens. M82 of the Great Bear also provides opportunity for the uniqueness of our individuality to have a role or place in the world, but self-acceptance must be realized and the unique opportunities presenting themselves seized.
At this zodiakal longitude we find the ideal ambassador between countries, races, species, and worlds--the morph. We also find opportunities to amalgamate our uniqueness in ways that can dissolve the barriers in front of us and that serve our mutual wellbeing or purpose. We must, however, relinquish any preconceived ideas, beliefs and hesitancies that would limit the expression and fulfillment of the uniqueness of our souls. It is common for very unique and unexpected encounters to occur with alignments here as well as for unique people to just show up in our lives with whom there is a special and mutual attraction.
Also of influence is Ahadi of Puppis, a supergiant star in the southern hemisphere, which shines with the luminosity of 19,200 suns and with a radius estimated to be about 290 times our sun. Ahadi is orange in color and contrasts beautifully with surrounding blue stars, all of which compose the open star cluster called “Collinder 135.” Ahadi means “having much promise.” Being of the Argo, this is in reference to our greater evolutionary journey and its fulfillment.
Our Gibbous Moon brings attention to our need to be in moment-to moment-attentiveness, to participate in forever alertness. Opportunities may lie transcendent to the normal every day world and business occurring in our lives, opportunities that may appear out of nowhere.
To compliment our opportunistic Gibbous Moon, the Jupiter-Pluto leg of the forming Grand Trine is now highly active (Jupiter and Pluto are within 1.5° to their exact trine). The Jupiter-Pluto trine is highly opportunistic at a grand scale and with big issues, which we will explore below.
The Moon also makes a brief Grand Trine with Juno and conjoining Mercury-Uranus and Vesta just after the Gibbous Moon, on March 5. Mercury and Vesta maintain a very close conjunction from the Gibbous Moon through the Full Moon, to the station of Mercury, when Mercury begins its retrograde on the Disseminating Moon of March 11-12. The Uranus Mercury-Vesta synthesis impels us to get clear and focused about the any radical changes we need to make in our live, as it is time to engage.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.
Full Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
©2012 Nick Anthony Fiorenza
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
The Full Moon of March 8 occurs in fiery but creative late sidereal Leo. The Moon conjoins retrograde Mars just several hours before the Full Moon on March 7. The Moon lies under and conjoins the hind leg of the Lion (Sigma and Iota of Leo) and lies between Zosma, Chort and Denebola of Leo the hind of the Lion. It conjoins Asterion and the conjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151 of Canes Venatici; the Pulsar CP1133 in Leo; and Delta Velorum of Argo Navis. Overseeing is Mizar of the Great Bear. (all presented in the Mars Synod section and article).
The theme of this area of the zodiak is identical to that of our new Mars synodic cycle. The Full Moon brings our focus to Retrograde Mars how we are using our creative energies, however now in the context of our Aquarius New Moon theme.
This can be a volatile Full Moon or one impelling emotionally driven creative expression. Either way, it brings realization to the ramifications of our actions, especially those that are reactionary to the attention getting surface events and experiences. It impels us to delve beneath surface appearances and symptomolgy to see the underlying forces and currents at work in our lives and in the world, and to address that which makes a real difference in the energetic aspects of our lives, in deeper levels of consciousness where lies the motive that drives our actions and produces the symtomology in our lives. Here we must learn the difference from seeking instant or punctual gratification verses seeking durative and sustainable solutions. Here we must learn to participate with our environment and with other people rather than dominate and control them--tough lesson for much of humanity. It is particularly this last point that Mars retrograde in Leo requires, the need to let go of the need to control for personal gain alone, and to live in the generosity and inclusiveness (not exclusiveness) that our Humanitarian Waterbearer exemplifies.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon of March 11 lies in sidereal Libra conjoining Delta and Gamma of the Southern Cross; the Centaurus-A Galaxy; and Nusakan (Beta), Eta and Theta of the Northern Crown.
"The jets and lobes emanating from Centaurus A (NGC 5128) have been imaged at sub-millimeter wavelengths for the first time. The new data, from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile, which is operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), have been combined with visible and X-ray wavelengths to produce this striking new image."

This area of sidereal Libra (in our stellar mythos of the Virgin giving birth into the clutches of the Scorpio lies just before the chelae of the Scorpion) is where soul either re-enters into the reincarnational path of soul growth though the balance of dualistic Earthian experience (or in the patterns of the past), or it is where soul can re-claim its original cardinality (embodied by the Southern Cross) and attain its evolutionary freedom from this process (reaching for the Northern Crown).
Centaurus-A is the "Temple of the Centaur," a place so unique that it seems oblivious to and undaunted by its surrounding cosmology. It nests within a very unusual galaxy (NGC 5128) not fitting into any galactic class, thus, unique as the Centaur is, it is unclassified. It is the closest active galaxy to Earth. Centaurus-A is a very deep pool of consciousness, the essence of pure consciousness. It is of quality, beauty, harmony, and perfection.
South of Centaurus-A are the stars of the Southern Cross. The Centaur is protector of the Southern Cross and benevolent teacher of its principles. The four stars of the Southern Cross (Cruces) embody the original cardinal virtues seemly lost to most of humanity. This is the cardinality (pure intent) of the soul--embodied by the Kappa Crucis Cluster, the Jewel Box. The Southern Cross embodies the pure intent of the soul before the aberrations, confusions, attitudes, and beliefs incurred by the soul throughout its entire incarnational sojourn.
Centaurus-A invites us to create a contemplative or meditative harmonious space or environment from which to access our inner cardinal soul wisdom, our original and unique purpose and intent, which underlie the aberrations, false beliefs, and restricting concepts we may have placed upon ourselves. Centaurus-A invites us to enter a place of inner stillness, to relinquish the concepts of thought we associate with our existing lives. This inner excursion requires a willingness to go deep within and to allow a disintegration of the constructs of self we hold, our human mold, of what we think ourselves to be, and to emerge with a far deeper awareness of our true selves, the inner knowing of our true essence. We can then bring that pure essence, that intent, back into our life expression without the need to mold ourselves into mass consensus. The successful feat can result in an inversion or flip in consciousness--with a revelation of great magnitude, one that can change our lives forever.
Centaurus-A also conjoins Nusakan (Beta), Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown, and the Quasar 3C 351 of northern Draco. This quasar inspires access to ancient time, when soul was pristine in its intent and purpose, and to pull this awareness into the present expression with passion, enthusiasm, art, and beauty to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment, exemplified by Ophiuchus holding the serpent pointing its head to the Northern Crown, which lies north and above the Claws of the Scorpion (the scales of Libra). Beta, Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis impel personal action to find away through the labyrinth of obstacles in life that impedes one to achieve personal fulfillment and evolutionary freedom.
Our Disseminating Moon brings us to a point of deliberation and choice. Do we simply step into the patterns of the past, learning the same old lessons, or do we choose an entirely new path. To do so requires entry into depths of our beingness to access our true intent and purpose, and from this clarity of pure intent, reach for something far greater.
Mercury stations on March 12 just after the Disseminating Moon in sidereal Pisces conjoining Vesta, asteroid of focus dedication and commitment. This begins a few week period for clearing out the old and redefining the new. It is an ideal time for evolving new plans in the logistical aspect of our lives. The Mercury retrograde period is also a time of disengaging from the previous ~116–day Earth-Mercury synodic cycle and engaging in the next. The previous cycle started on Dec 4, 2011 and was presented in the November 25, 2011 Lunar Planner. The new synodic cycle starts in the midst of the retrograde, when Mercury and the Sun conjoin, which will occur on the equinox in this lunar cycle. Mercury will return direct on April 4 in the following lunar cycle.
Earth, retrograde Mars and Venus move into position to activate the already established and very opportunistic Jupiter-Pluto trine to create the Mars Venus-Jupiter Pluto Grand Trine, with Venus conjoining Jupiter. This Grand Trine centers on March 14.
The Jupiter-Pluto trine creates the main leg of this Grand Trine. It impels interest in the larger issues occurring in our lives and for humanity. It is opportunistically favorable for large-scale ventures that address the bigger picture in our lives. It supports tremendous accomplishment that can lead to a prosperous future for those that choose to walk through this portal and seize the opportunities offered.
Mars now squares the Juno-Lunar Node axis, with Mars directly opposite Pallas. The Chiron-Pallas conjunction in Aquarius is still active and is squaring the Juno-Lunar Node conjunction. Thus the Grand Square has taken shape as well, and is occurring with and directly aspecting the Grand Trine, tied together by Mars.
Chiron and Pallas lie midway between the Venus-Jupiter conjunction and Pluto, thus the Chiron-Pallas conjunction is sextile to both. Ignoring the Grand Square for the moment, this geometric configuration is commonly called a kite in astrology. A kite is a Grand Trine with a planet in opposition to one of the planets creating the Grand Trine. In this case we have Chrion-Pallas opposite retrograde Mars. The opposition adds a strong sense of direction and motivation to move through the opportunity the Grand Trine offers.
The Chiron-Pallas sextile (a 60° aspect) to Pluto and to Venus-Jupiter also creates a condition of strength and support. Chiron-Pallas is allied in strength both with Venus-Jupiter and with Pluto, harmonically uniting these two points of the Grand Trine. In this geometric configuration, the Pallas-Chiron theme becomes the “potential,” which is harmonically suspended by the Jupiter-Pluto trine. In other words, the Jupiter-Pluto trine serves as the opportunistic platform that supports this potential waiting to be utilized. This potential becomes a directed force toward the focal point of this geometry, which is Mars.
Thus, the Jupiter-Pluto platform, which is of large-scale opportunistic ventures, supports the Chiron-Pallas potential, which is our creative intelligence and talents artistically applied with inventiveness to create and cross a bridge into a humanitarian based society. The focus of this energy toward retrograde Mars (Mizar/Leo) becomes the force aiding to redefine the use of power in the global arena, for global powers, and in the nature of how we use our creative power, destructively or creatively.
Note as well that this is a “Grand Fire Trine” (the three points of the Grand Trine are in fire signs), which impel us to take charge, create and get things done. The potential, Chiron-Pallas, lies in an air sign, Aquarius, which impels new ideas and discoveries that support humanity. Air feeds fire and fire wants to apply this resource, air, in creative expression. Thus we have a positive and self-sustaining condition, and one highly creative and inventive, yet also potentially volatile due to the Mars-Mizar focus. Thus how we redefine the application of our creative power throughout the Mars retrograde is rather critical, and this all precedes entry into, and will significantly define our experience through, the upcoming 2012-2015 Uranus-Pluto square.
Now let’s add the Great Square to all of this. The Grand Square’s amalgamation with the Grand Trine creates a rather dynamic and catalytic geometric portal opening in time and space. It demands our attention and brings attention to the Grand Trine as well, which otherwise would be much softer. The two oppositions in the Grand Square provide perspective. The opposing planets (and stars) are complimentary components of one axis. The four squares of the Grand Square create considerable tension that demands both action and change. This particular Grand Square may require considerable external stimulus to get things moving from a condition of stasis or stalemate. But once moving, there is tremendous momentum behind what has been mobilized, and in this case, the Grand Trine provides a doorway or opportunity for the release of this built up tension.
Note that the focus of the Grand Square is Juno, due to its position on the North Lunar Node, while the focus of the Grand Trine (kite) is Mars. The Mars-Juno square is quite significant for this reason as well as others. Juno is also stationing, near standstill in the heavens from Earth’s perspective. Mars of course is in the midst of its retrograde and just began its new synodic cycle with Earth. All three of the energetic forces, Juno, the North Node, and Mars, are about to all be moving retrograde. This becomes quite significant in the following Lunar Cycle, as Mars and Juno will maintain their retrograde square through out the duration of that cycle, until Mars completes its retrograde in mid-April. (This is best seen in the 2012 Graphic Ephemeris.) Thus we have a sustaining tension that engages our need to redefine these two energetics; i.e., the major reorientation in how we are using our creative power in the world (Mars); and the need for maturing and graduation in how we interrelate on Earth along with a shifting and sorting occurring for partnerships (Juno).
We have explored the Juno and Lunar Nodal axes stellar placements, as well as those of the Mars and Pallas-Chrion axis. Let’s take a look at the Jupiter-Venus Pluto trine, the major platform (or harmonic resonance) of this Grand Trine.
Pluto, in sidereal Sagittarius, becomes an opener to and revealer of a greater truth--no more hiding the real issues for humanity. It has been diligently at work in this area for some time, articulated mostly through my writings on the various Earth-Pluto synodic themes, the last of which can be found in the June 1, 2011 Lunar Planner, which presents Pluto’s current placement in Sag. For more of an overview about Pluto’s entry into and passage through sidereal Sagittarius, see: “Pluto's First Synod in Sidereal Sagittarius.”
Jupiter and Venus make a wonderful paring. Jupiter expands and mobilizes the qualities of Venus. Thus it expands and mobilizes the expression and capacity for love and abundance, and the appreciation and passionate desire for harmony, beauty, and art. It impels a wide-open and receptive and compassionate heart with a desire to grow in our relationships, to become more than we are. The Jupiter-Venus conjunction in Aries, even without the Pluto trine, is extremely opportunistic and pioneering, and it motivates wide-sweeping self-initiated action.

Jupiter and Venus lie over the head of Cetus and conjoin Kaffaljidhma of Cetus, Achird of Cassiopeia, and Azha of Eridanus.
Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster created and maintained by collective human consciousness. Menkar (the jaws) and Kaffaljidhma are the primary stars of the head. Kaffaljidhma is the brain of the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The brain of Cetus? Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is “human consciousness.” This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in--the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.
Azha of Eridanus provides a stopping point along the river of life where we can encounter the fear-instilling images or experiences that appear to be coming at us from outside of self but that are psychic projections of our greatest fears reflected to us by the brain of collective consciousness. Azha impels us to pause to consider who and what creates the intelligence of ole’ Cetus, to reverse our perspective from outside of self to inside of self, to becomes self-respsonsible for our journeys through life.
Achird of Cassiopeia asks us to realize that we create and perpetuate the very things that we perceive as trying to detour or devour us. Achird brings attention to the fact that the monsters and the entrapments in which we find ourselves become manifest by our own righteous and arrogant attitudes of self-importance.
Slightly southwest of Kaffaljidhma is Delta Cetus and the potent Seyfert Galaxy M77 with the inner active nucleus 3C-71 Quasar Radio Source, which has a mass millions of times that of our Sun. M77 is the dominating member of a small physical group of galaxies. Delta Cetus and the M77 Seyfert Galaxy impel an outgoing expression driving dynamic personal action.
This area of area of Aries impels us to become self-responsible, to take the reigns for our own evolutionary course rather than acquiescing to the entrapments of powers that govern, dictate and control. It motives audacious leadership in demonstrable action.
This Grand Trine also occurs just before Last Quarter Moon, thus also impelling an inner need for major and wide-sweeping creative changes in our lives.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on March 14-15 on the cusp of sidereal Sagittarius. The Sun moves into sidereal Pisces just hours after Last Quarter Moon on March 15.

The minor planet Quaoar (pronounced kwah-whar) was discovered in June of 2002. Quaoar was the name given to the “creation force” by the Native American Tongva tribe who were the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles basin in Southern California. Quaoar is about one-tenth the diameter of Earth, about half the size of Pluto, and larger than the four primary asteroids combined. Quaoar has an orbital period of 288 years. (Pluto orbits the sun in 248 years). Quaoar lies a bit further out than Pluto. Quaoar’s orbit is remarkably circular compared to Pluto and the other new planets, which have highly elliptical orbits. Quaoar’s orbit is tilted only slightly to the ecliptic plane. This suggests that Quaoar has a gentle and well balanced astrological influence.
The following is presented acknowledging we are just beginning to apprehend Quaoar’s astrological nature. Considering its name, Quaoar may have relation to what may equated with indigenous people’s perceptual abilities, those who live attuned to Earth and nature’s cycles (i.e., with natural world, animal kingdom, and shaman type perceptions). Quaoar was discovered in Ophiuchus, conjoining Antares. Based upon initial explorations surrounding its discovery and its astrophysical nature, Quaoar may be motivating us to challenge existing political structural systems to re-align with the laws of the natural world--but not to fall into battle from mere malevolence, hatred, vengeance, or undermining spite, but to take a stand from wisdom and self-mastery, articulated by Ophiuchus. Quaoar’s near circular orbit and mild orbital inclination suggests a more gentle and harmonious approach, perhaps one inspiring the need to bring harmony and balance into that which is chaotically scattered and in conflict. As a Kuiper Belt planet, like Pluto and others, Quaoar resonates more with the transcendent workings of our lives, demanding we surrender egoic consciousness and align ourselves to the natural forces governing life, rather than to man’s attempted dictatorial reign over them.
Quaoar seems to have a character supporting a “harmonious revolution”--to help us surrender to the natural order of life. In addition, Quaoar inspires our return to the “sacredness of life”; to realize all things in life are sacred; and that it is our responsibility to have respect for natural order and to live in harmony with nature; without this we do not have respect for our selves. More about Quaoar.
The Moon and Quaoar conjoin Lesath, Shaula and Sargas of Scorpio; Cebalrai of Ophiuchus; Nehushtan of Serpens; Alpha and Delta Ara; and southern Alpha Mensa. The Moon approaches Galactic Center, which lies just into sidereal Sagittarius (~2°).
Ara is the Altar of the Centaur. On the low altar, which lies in later sidereal Scorpio, the Centaur places Lupus the Beast (our lower-order personality-based patterns of self-importance, and associated emotional baggage) with conscious deliberation to be consumed in the Centaur’s transmutational pyre. Venom from Lesath, the sting of the Scorpion--the often harsh but required lessons incurred while incarnate--dripping upon the altar serves as the required transmutational elixir. Over the high altar (cuspal Sag) lies Galactic Centre where reinstatement into our souls’ destined fulfillment occurs. The sting (marking the end of Scorpio) precedes our movement across the cusp of Scorpio into Sag where Galactic Center resides.
"Ara, Altar of the Centaur, has also been imaged as the Altar of Dionysus, son of Zeus and Semele, god of wine and fertility, this was before the creation of Norma the square which is oddly placed between Lupus and Ara. Here was a censer in which perfumes were burned before the dead, also a brazier, both of which were associated with Vesta, goddess of the Hearth. Ara also represents the altars on the summits of temple towers, serving as lighthouses for the ancients, with the Alexandrian Pharos being the great example. The illustrations of Hyginus (1488-1535) show an altar from which flames ascended with demons on either side. Poetically it was described with flames rising northward through the Milky Way--along the starry stream and through galactic centre." (Richard Hinckley Allen) Dionysus, god of ecstasy and wine, a mystic and lover, is known, in part, for rescuing women (descending to Helle--mortality--to save his mother) and restoring their rightful office to Goddess--to their immortality. All of this refers to the purification process, the surrendering, or casting out that which is degenerative (the accumulations of judgments that bind us to mortality so we may attain our divine birthright, awakened to the illumined durative (immortal) souls that we are. In this light we have the principles underlying healing and the transmutation process, for which our northern illumined Ophiuchus stands. Dionysus also alludes to the sensual and sensuous nature of sidereal Scorpio and the carnal forces inherent in nature.
Lesath and the stars forming the sting of the Scorpion require we unconditionally embrace our lessons in life without judgment, a prerequisite to our transmutation--turning pain into wisdom along with remembering at soul-level (a process occurring in the pituitary). Ara demands we release of all guilt, grief, fear, anger, and pain associated with our incarnate experience--the self-important judgmental baggage we carry, and that we may hold even at soul level. Doing so allows us to integrate the wisdom gained from soul's entire incarnational experience into our neurology. If we do not relinquish our inner judgment (resistance to experience) we continue to burn from the Scorpion's sting in an alchemical process. Only from this mature and humble act can we step into our greater evolutionary fulfillment.
In Polynesian lore, the tail of the Scorpion is the fishhook of the god Maui, which he used to raise the island Tongareva (the largest atoll of the Cook Islands; a beautiful ring of coral encircling a lagoon partially filled with pearlshell). Also in Polynesian star lore, Lesath and Shaula are the mean parents of Piri-ere-ua, the Inseparable, and her smaller brother, marked by the nearby stars Mu1 and Mu2, which lie a few degrees earlier, but also on the Scorpion's tail. They are a mere 8 minutes of the degree; hence the "inseparable ones." Piri-ere-ua and her brother ran from home after being mistreated by their mean parents, with their parents, Lesath and Shaula, still chasing after them. ("Na Inoa Hoku: Catalogue Of Hawaiian & Pacific Star Names" by Rubellite Kawena Johnson and John Mahelona. Ku Pa'a Publishing 1975)
Marking the Sagittarian cusp almost exactly, and in the tail of the Scorpion, is Sargas, the "seizer," "smiter," or "stinger." Sargas lies just south of Lesath and Shaula in the curve of stars leading up to Lesath. Sargas also articulates this point of capture, stinging those who have not embraced and transformed their initiations over Centaur's "low altar" before being allowed to proceed into "Galactic (soul-level) Reinstatement," as we move into the first couple of degrees of sidereal Sagittarius and over Galactic Center, which resides exalted and honored over the "high altar" of the Centaur.
Also conjoining the sting of the Scorpion, but just into sidereal Sagittarius, is the northern Cebalrai, the Beta star of Ophiuchus, which marks his right shoulder, he who exemplifies having attained physical emotional, and spiritual mastery over the raw creative forces governing life and death. Cebalrai indicates that successful mastery past the Scorpion's sting articulates the need to acknowledge and accept that a greater soul-level responsibility is required to claim our self-mastery, to embrace the transmutational initiation of Ara, and to participate in soul-level awareness and mastery on Earth.
Far in the southern heavens and also conjoining is Alpha Mensa. Mensa (Table Mountain) is a constellation primarily consisting of four stars, which lie over the South Ecliptic Pole. Mensa starts at the cusp of Sagittarius and extends to sidereal Capricorn. Alpha Mensa articulates that we have soul-level support to embrace this transmutational initiatory process. The remaining stars of Mensa provide continuing soul-level support throughout Sagittarius—actualizing the high-mined principles articulated by the Zen Archer, and at the Capricorn cusp, which provides soul-level support to manifest the vision of the Archer into concretized form in the world.
Along with the stimulus provided by the Grand Trine / Grand Square (which continues to remain active), our Last Quarter Moon motivates us to embrace our initiations in life, to surrender the cellular patterns that keep us at a lesser vibrational resonance, and to step into and demonstrate a greater level of self-mastery, to live from the experiential wisdom we have gained throughout life. It invites us to participate at a more refined or higher-order resonance, and to step forth into a higher office awaiting us. There is also strong motivation to return to natural ways of living, those attuned to the earth, the land, and to the natural cycles of life, and to support a harmonious revolution toward this direction. The changes we make in our lives and the paths we choose to pursue in this lunar cycle are key to our future experiences in life.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
"Born from the Wind" This new portrait of the bright star-forming region NGC 346, in which different wavelengths of light swirl together like watercolours, reveals new information about how stars form. NGC 346 is located 210 000 light-years away in the Small Magellanic Cloud, a neighbouring dwarf galaxy of the Milky Way. The image is based on data from ESA XMM-Newton (X-rays; blue), ESO's New Technology Telescope (visible light; green), and NASA's Spitzer (infrared; red). The infrared light shows cold dust, while the visible light denotes glowing gas, and the X-rays represent very hot gas. Ordinary stars appear as blue spots with white centres, while young stars enshrouded in dust appear as red spots with white centres. Image & Caption Credit: ESO/ESA/JPL-Caltech/NASA/D. Gouliermis (MPIA) et al.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on March 18 in sidereal Capricorn. It conjoins Armus and Theta Capricorn; Albali of Aquarius. Eta Cygnus and the Cygnus X-1 binary star system; and the SMC X-1 Neutron Star.
Albali, Epsilon Aquarius, marks a significant shift in sidereal Capricorn, compared to earlier Capricorn. Albali begins the overlap of the constellations of Aquarius and Capricorn. This shift is also caused by the influence of the wing of Cygnus, which begins with Delta and Kappa Cygnus, marking the northern wing tip; and the influence of Delphinus, which lies just under the wing. The stars of Gruis the Crane and also those of Pisces Australis also influence the latter half of sidereal Capricorn. All of this shifts the nature of Capricorn from a more detailed, exclusive, and self-focused character, common to earlier Capricorn, to one that is wiser, more inclusive and embracing of other people, knowledge and ideas. This is where the Aquarian humanitarian influence begins to be felt in sidereal Capricorn.
Armus, Eta Capricorn, conjoins Albali. Armus and Theta Capricorn mark the body and back of the fish-goat. Armus brings awareness to our need to take personal responsibility for our material and physical wellbeing. Armus is about our responsibility in the world. Armus is also of legal agreements, partnerships in business, and negotiations. Armus and Albali extend Capricorn's zodiakal quality from personal level motive to a sense that our responsibility must extend beyond ourselves, to embrace the needs of those around us, and to our extended families.
Armus, Theta and Albali can also indicate a barrier to cross, or burden to surrender, yet this becomes easy when we embrace the mature awareness offered by conjoining SMC X-1 neutron star in the southern Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) and that of Cygnus X-1 in the neck of the Swan.
Armus and Albali also conjoin the SMC X-1 neutron star and the Cyg X-1 eclipsing X-ray binary-star system.
The Small and Large Magellanic Clouds (SMC and LMC) are small galaxies that orbit our Milky Way galaxy. We might think of them as our galaxy's young, although not necessarily birthed from the Milky Way, they are being cared for and raised by our galaxy. The Small Magellanic Cloud resides quite south in ecliptical latitude on the border of Toucan and the more southern Hydrus (not to be confused with Hydra the Water Snake). Julius Schiller (1627) combined Hydrus, the Toucan, and the Small Cloud as his biblical constellation Raphael (Allen). Although I do not have a propensity for Schiller's bastardization of the heavens into religious figuring, this is a mythical articulation I think fitting here.
Raphael is "the Shining One who heals." In Hebrew, Raphael meant healer and guardian of the Tree of Life, which more appropriately can be taken as knowledge about natural law. Raphael, also considered to be the angel of the Sun--correspondingly the essence of the solar fire and solar plexus--brings life to the body through the administration of proper physical remedies. In this light, we have the "angel of science and historical knowledge." Raphael was said to have presented Noah with a book of medical knowledge). Knowledge of science and law is fitting to the later half of sidereal Capricorn--the Aquarius /Capricorn overlap.
Raphael is said to be quite gregarious, both the chummiest and funniest of all the angelic flock. He is often depicted chatting merrily (Rapp-ing) with some unsuspecting mortal" ("Angels An Endangered Species" by Malcolm Goodwin, Simon and Schuster, 1990.) This loquacious quality, also articulated by Tucana, is an aspect fitting to this part of Capricorn.
Within the Small Magellanic Cloud is the neutron star SMC X-1 of Tucana. It lies at the southern edge of the Lesser Cloud (at 66S29 ecliptical latitude) and actually lies south of an arc drawn from Alpha Hydri to Beta Hydri, as if it were in this constellation. SMC X-1 embodies the essence of both constellations. In this light, Schiller, in creating one constellation, Raphael, from both Toucan and Hydrus, although tainted with religious overtones of the times, is not such an odd envisioning at all.
SMC X-1 is an eclipsing binary neutron star, with a visible magnitude of 13.3 that emits a high level of X-rays. SMC X-1 has an X-ray eclipsing period of 3.9 days with a pulse width 0.7 seconds long. SMC X-1 of Tucana creates a portal in consciousness where diverse concepts and fragmented ideas can be assembled into a coherent expression. The ability to coalesce this fragmentation into a coherent expression can be the challenge here, and often leads to excessive mental chatter (the nature of the Tucan / and Raphael), but this coalescence does eventually occur, which can then be expressed as a theme that unifies what was once before seemingly unrelated pieces. The image of a lawyer in a courtroom amalgamating a set of fragmented information over many days into a coherent closing statement also articulates this theme. (I acknowledge Philip Sedgwick for aptly summing this one up, and only add an expounded statement.)
As a young galaxy being raised by a parent, the SMC and associated SMC X-1 source seem to adsorb and become witness to that which occurs for the incarnate soul, acting much like a karmic library or Hall of Records holding souls' personal history. Alignments with or meditation upon SMC X-1 can yield access to this information, which can then be brought forth and formulated into a reportage about souls' accumulated experience gathered over time--a Saturn-Capricorn theme (Capricorn is domicile for Saturn).
Cygnus X-1, an eclipsing X-ray binary-star system, with an X-ray eclipse period of 5.6 days, lies in the northern heavens on the galactic equator, almost equidistant between Albireo and Sadr, near Eta Cygnus in the neck of the Swan. Cyg X-1's placement on the galactic equator impels us to access and express from a mature soul-level awareness. Cyg X-1 inspires us to surrender the personality-based motives, facades, cloaked maneuvers, and religious fanaticism common to earlier Capricorn and access, participate from, and express the greater maturity and truth of a soul-aware being cognizant that we are not victims at the mercy of forces outside of self but that we co-create the dramatics in our lives and must take responsibility for doing so.
Cyg X-1 demands we look behind the human facade and graduate from the who-did what-to-who, the sue-me-sue-you blues, from this side verses that, and to take mutual responsibility for the games we play and lives we choose. Here we can learn to own our experience and to seek a mutually benefiting solution. Cyg X-1 demands we look at our transcendent issues underlying our life experience--any judgment, grief, or anger carried that perpetuates our experience and that averts our attempts to responsibly create our lives the way we want them to be.
Our Balsamic Moon brings us to an amalgamation process, coalescing what may have been a dynamic and stimulus-filled lunar cycle into an articulate summation that we can use to move forward into the future. It is well suited (along with Mercury’s retrograde) for the planning and documentation of strategies, business structures and legalities to move forward. It invites us to expand our awareness beyond our personal needs and to recognize our responsibility to create a sustainable, wholesome and prosperous future for the entire human family and the entire world, including all life in our world.
The stimulating dynamics of this lunar cycle are far from over. How much more can occur in three days time? For starters, a non-stop acceleration into the next Uranus-driven Lunar Cycle.
Mercury-conjoins Uranus on March 18 within minutes after the Balsamic Moon stimulating high-level radical non-conforming thought, intellectual inventiveness and alternative approaches in the logistics of life.
The Moon moves back into sidereal Aquarius and the lunar sidereal return occurs (when the Moon returns to the same location as the New Moon). This is when we assimilate the experience of the lunar cycle into our cerebral cortex and amalgamate it with our total human memory matrix--adding to our growth. The Sidereal Return can be considered the formal close of the lunar cycle. (The Lunar Sidereal Return always occurs in the Balsamic Lunar Phase.)
On March 19, retrograde Mars makes its exact square to the Lunar Nodes, with Juno (now in its few day station) on the North Node, and with Mars opposite Chiron, maintaining our potent and stimulating Grand Square, which continues into the next lunar cycle. However, the opportunistic Grand Trine now begins to dissipate.
Ceres conjoins Eris on March 19/20, bringing attention to ecological and environmental concerns, and to the recognition that Mother Nature is in charge and interrelates with us according to our actions on Earth. Ceres and Eris began a new 4.6-year synodic cycle in the previous Lunar Cycle--perhaps worth a re-read. The Ceres-Eris Synod.
The March Equinox also occurs – on March 20, 5:14:25 GMT (March 19, 10:14:25 PM MST). This is the first quarter point in the annual cycle, stimulating action on the December 2011 Solstice theme.
The Moon conjoins Neptune, Chiron and Pallas throughout this time as well, reminding us of our bridge into the future and that it is up to us to use our artistic creative intelligence from experientially-gained wisdom and not from judgment.!!!
Mars makes its exact square to Juno on March 21, and due to Juno’s station and subsequent retrograde, this square continues through mid-April, when Mars completes its retrograde. Mars will make its exact opposition to Chiron just after the New Moon; and Juno will makes its exact conjunction with the North Lunar Node and begin its retrograde at that time as well.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, March 17 through the New Moon of March 22 is an ideal time to work with the Mercury and Uranus audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
Mercury, in the midst of its retrograde begins it new ~116-day synodic cycle with Earth, also on March 21. A synod is defined by the planetary alignment looking from the Sun. So, although the Sun-Mercury conjunction resides in sidereal Pisces, very close to the Vernal Point of Earth’s Precessional Cross, the synod occurs in sidereal Virgo.
The Earth-Mercury synod conjoins Super Galactic Center (SGC) and associated galaxies including: the interacting Spirals NGC 4438/35 called “The Eyes” in Virgo; the Brightest Galaxy in the Coma Cluster NGC4889; and the Elliptical Galaxy Radio Source 3C270. It also conjoins Theta Bootes, which is his hand that reaches over to protect the SGC and the Virgin’s head and halo.
Sidereal Virgo supports the preparation and purity of self for our greatest wellbeing and highest evolutionary attainment. On a mundane level, Virgo is of hard work; is health conscious and methodical in development and progress; it is of order, continuity, stability, new beginnings, cultivation, and harvest--the sign of agriculture. Virgo imparts a meticulous, organized, perfectionist and methodical nature. It also imparts a strong focus in communication and logistics, an intellectual expression, and is of being in service to others.
Virgo can impel us to do more or it can impel us to become more--the lesson here is to realize the difference. Success is not doing more to achieve more. It is becoming more to attract success. This is the difference from a have-do-be mentality to a be-do-have mentality. The have-do-be mentality is where we think we need something we do not have, so we can do what we think we need to do, to become what we wish to be. The be-do-have mentality is to become more, to express what we have become, to have the success we wish. Success is not something to pursue, success is something we attract by what we become.
Coma Berenices (Berenice’s hair) stands alone in this area of the heavens, slightly north of and over early sidereal Virgo. The stars forming Coma Berenices are not necessarily connected to any surrounding constellations other than being associated with Virgo. This makes sense when we realize that the North Galactic Pole (NGP) resides in Coma (5° sidereal Virgo), as does our Super Galactic Center (SGC) (~7° sidereal Virgo). Coma Berenices is a recent name, but Diadem, the Alpha Star of Coma, articulates the essence of this grouping of stars-- the jeweled Crown above Virgin's head. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Diadem and the stars of Coma radiate the high spiritual essence of the Super Galactic Center, and impel us to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance.
Super Galactic Centre can be considered the spiritual essence from which life precipitates in our entire galactic neighborhood--a place from which spiritual nourishment and spiritual guidance expresses.
Our Galaxy, the Milky Way, is a whirling disc composed of hundreds of billions of stars, of which our sun is one, spinning around a dense and massive bulge of stars called the Galactic Nucleus or Galactic Centre. Our galaxy is one of about 30 galaxies comprising a cluster of galaxies called our "Local Group." The galaxies in our Local Group gently revolve around each other much like organisms floating in a protective embryonic fluid.
Our Local Group is merely one galactic cluster of many that comprise yet a large group called our "Local Super Cluster," which has about 5.000 member galaxies. All of these embryonic clusters, harboring many evolving galaxies and forms of life, are like protective cocoons floating within the care of our Local Super Cluster.
The Coma-Virgo Cluster, one of the larger members of the Super Cluster, a highly non-uniform galaxy cluster, and the closest to us, is comprised of many hundreds of galaxies, ranging from giant and massive elliptical galaxies and spirals like our Milky Way, to dwarf galaxies, hundreds of times smaller. "Sub-clusters of galaxies" are seen to be forming around the major galaxies in the Coma-Virgo Cluster (around Messier 87, Messier 86 and Messier 49), which have yet to coalesce into new galaxy clusters of their own, revealing the continuing creative unfoldment of the Coma-Virgo Cluster.
Recent observations also reveal a sparse population of stars in the intra-cluster space of the Virgo Cluster--the space between galaxies in the cluster. Also found within this population were several hundreds of planetary nebulae wandering within the gravity field of the whole cluster. Planetary nebulae are stars, much like our own sun, but in their final dying phase. At this point in their (old soul) lives, they eject their outer layers, the experiential mass they had accumulated, and unveil their small and hot stellar core, which appears as a "white dwarf star"--their coalesced wisdom, their naked essence. The intra-cluster population of floating stars and these "old soul cosmic wanderers" are a new revelation articulating yet another facet of our Super Cluster and the astrological character of our Super Galactic Center.
The Coma-Virgo Cluster lies at the center of our Local Super Cluster. "Super Galactic Centre" (SGC) is a term that refers to a point in the Virgo Cluster that marks the centre of our entire Super Cluster. The supergiant galaxy M87 in the Coma-Virgo Cluster is believed to mark or lie very close to the Super Galactic Centre. M87 has a halo extending out to at least 65 kpc (more than 200,000 light-years), which is more than twice the size of our own galaxy. Our galaxy, nested in our Local Group, lies about 50 million light years from the Super Galactic Centre in the Coma-Virgo Cluster.
Astrologically, the Super Galactic Centre can be thought of as the spiritual mother center from which guidance and spiritual wisdom expresses. The Super Galactic Centre provides a phenomenal opportunity for our greater wellbeing, but only if we are willing to totally relinquish personal scenarios or past events in our lives that may seem that, if we let them go, the ramifications will result in our total demise. However, it is only through the surrender, the relinquishment of the past into this massive cosmic essence of pure (selfless) Divine Love, that allows our re-emergence, our re-birth, into a new light of being. This requires an inversion in consciousness--a conscious act where we pull the stream of our past experience into the singularity of the moment, allow it to be consumed in the ever-present now, and re-express self into a new stream unfolding into the future. This can feel as if our world is being turned inside out as our lives are re-defined. Super Galactic Centre invites us to empty ourselves and become pure vessels of spirit, committed to the fulfillment of the paths of our souls, to live Divine Will, here and now, moment-by-moment, true to the heart of the Virgin principle.
Mercury is also exalted in sidereal Virgo (~15° Virgo), and thus this synodic cycle is empowered and it impels independent, original and dynamic thought and action. This is also fitting with Mercury’s conjunction (and synod) with Uranus, which impels non-conforming, radical break-through and inventive thinking. This new Earth-Mercury synodic cycle supports us to think in all embracing spiritual terms, to relinquish lower mind and to follow our inner intuitive (higher) guidance.
Our next New Moon occurs on March 22, 2012 in early sidereal Pisces conjoining Mercury and Uranus.
More to come then.
