Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
This lunar cycle is pivotal, one of the most potent in years. It is exceptionally inspirational for profound personal transformation. It starts with our New Moon of November 3, 2013, which produces a rare and dramatic "Hybrid Solar Eclipse." A Hybrid Solar Eclipse is a combination of an Annular Eclipse and a Total Eclipse. An Annular Solar Eclipse is when we see a ring of the Sun surrounding the Moon's shadow. A Total Solar Eclipse is when the Moon's shadow covers the entire disc of the Sun.
This eclipse begins as an Annular Eclipse over the eastern Atlantic Ocean. The eclipse can be seen at sunrise on the eastern coast of the United States and northern South America (Venezuela and Brazil). It transitions rather quickly into a Total Eclipse as it makes its way over the Atlantic and then over Africa. It passes just off the cost of Liberia where the peak eclipse occurs. It then crosses Gabon, Congo, the Dominican Republic of Congo, Uganda, northern Kenya, and ends in southern Ethiopia and western Somalia. Totality is seen only over a narrow path across the Atlantic and Africa. A partial eclipse can be seen north and south of the eclipse path.
The last Hybrid Solar Eclipse occurred in April of 2005. It began and ended as an Annular Eclipse with the Total Eclipse occurring in-between. This eclipse begins as an annular event but completes as a Total Eclipse.
The New Moon Eclipse, occurring in mid-sidereal Libra, conjoins the stars of the Southern Cross and those of the Northern Crown, inviting us to live from the equipoise of the pure intent of our souls, before any aberrations and confusions commonly incurred throughout our incarnate sojourn on Earth, and to reach for a greater evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.
There is a confluence of several planetary placements occurring on and around the Solar Eclipse that make this event extremely significant, dynamic and intense. These include the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn and the Lunar Nodes, all of which conjoin; the Uranus-Pluto Square; Mars opposite Chiron; and with Juno squaring the Lunar Nodes, bringing emphasis to relationships and partnerships of all types. Venus also plays a key role throughout this lunar cycle as well, and reveals, along with our New Moon Eclipse lunar theme, the way through the passage at hand.
There are several extremely significant events occurring within this eclipse lunar cycle that create a primary turning in the month of November. The primary one is the Uranus-Pluto synodic square. Although the Uranus-Pluto geocentric square (seen from Earth's view) occurs from 2012 through 2015 with seven exact squares, the synodic (heliocentric) square (seen from the Sun) is a one-time event. It is the actual first quarter transition point in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto cycle that began in the mid-1960s. The synodic square creates a principle shift in the harmonic resonance within this cycle and a primary shift in Earth's geological resonance, which subsequently changes the currents driving Earth's collective consciousness. November 2013 marks the transition from external stimulus motivating action, into the several-year period ahead, one of demonstrable action catalyzing revolutionary change in many facets of human society.
In addition to the Uranus-Pluto Synodic Square, massive and mobilizing Jupiter also moves into position at the same time to create its synodic opposition to Pluto, and its synodic square to Uranus. This means that we have a very powerful heliocentric T-square creating an expansive mobilizing resonance throughout our Solar System.
The Jupiter-Pluto opposition marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the 13-year Jupiter-Pluto synodic cycle that began in November of 2007. The Jupiter-Pluto synod occurring then, at the Gate of God of Earth's Precessional Cross in early sidereal Sagittarius, initiated a principal cycle stimulating an expansive mobilization of a catabolic process to deconstruct antiquated behavioral patterns, false beliefs and cover-ups obscuring a greater truth destined to emerge.
The Jupiter-Uranus synodic square is the first square (much like the first square occurring now in the much longer Uranus-Pluto cycle) of the 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle that began in September of 2010. The Jupiter-Uranus synod occurring then, at the Vernal Point of Earth's Precessional Cross in early sidereal Pisces, initiated another principal cycle stimulating an awakening in the human populous to create and prepare for wide sweeping revolutionary change.
The 2008 Jupiter-Pluto synod and the 2010 Jupiter-Uranus synod, due to these events occurring upon principle nodes of Earth's Precessional Cross, were blatant astrological heralds indicative of primary evolutionary change to occur throughout their respective 13-year cycles. These two cycles also nest within the theme and energetic of the longer Uranus-Pluto cycle. The November 2013 confluence of the Uranus-Pluto Synodic Square, the Jupiter-Pluto Synodic Opposition, and the Jupiter-Uranus Synodic Square, forming this T-square, actualize the start of an avalanche of evolutionary change to accelerate over the months and years ahead, especially when this energetic fully engages with the geocentric Mars-Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto Grand Square occurring in April 2014.
The heliocentric T-square along with the Solar Eclipse occurring near the lunar perigee indicates a potential increase of seismic resonances, tidal forces, and a potential increase in solar flare activity throughout this lunar cycle.
These are but a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.
About Synodic Cycles
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.
Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave of experience. They offer a time to resynchronize our selves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness. Eclipses tend to bring about endings and new beginnings. How dramatic these changes can be is a function of star alignments (where in the zodiak they occur) and other aspecting planets occurring at the time of the eclipse. Although eclipses effect the entire Earth, they create a significant resonance upon Earth’s energy grid along the eclipse path. Eclipse influences generally last about six months, until the next eclipse occurs.
The area of our personal lives in which eclipses emphasize is a function of where they occur in the natal (AND especially a relocated) chart. They can have a far greater effect in our lives when they conjoin other natal planets and personal points by ±5°. Eclipses bring emphasis to issues related to the chart area and planets involved. They can bring these issues to a crisis point, which creates the need to work on these areas of life over the months ahead. Eclipses can be stressful or create upheaval if change is resisted or if addressing the emphasized issues is avoided.
Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play in the world, or how we articulate ourselves in life. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression, and addressing issues that keep us from doing so. They can invite a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.
Lunar eclipses tend to be more emotionally palpable in nature, how we feel about things on the inner and how we respond to our life experience. They are about releasing the emotional bonds within ourselves that glue us to involvements that are less than we truly want or deserve. They are also about the emotional and experiential aspects of our relations with others and with the world. Lunar eclipses provide opportunity for an emotional resynchronization.
You can also create a chart for your geographical area at the time of an eclipse to gain understanding about what areas of life are being stimulated for your community.

There are a confluence of several planetary placements occurring on and around the Solar Eclipse that make this event, the New Moon and this lunar cycle extremely dynamic. These are shown in the chart to the right. Additional aspects to those not of this geometry are not shown so as to better highlight those involved. You can also see this confluence in the 2013 Graphic Ephemeris.
There are several key interacting geometries formed by the aspects between the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Saturn and the Lunar Nodes, all of which conjoin; the Uranus-Pluto Square; Mars opposite Chiron; and Juno. Notice the T-square involving Juno; the Grand Trine; and the Yod to Uranus. The fourth geocentric Uranus-Pluto square occurred just prior to the New Moon on November 1.
Our November 3, 2013 New Moon Eclipse in mid-sidereal Libra nests between Retrograde Mercury and Saturn. It conjoins Acrux (Alpha), Becrux (Beta), and the Kappa Crucis Star Cluster (The Jewel Box) of Crucis, the Southern Cross; Alphecca of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown; and Mu Virgo. It also conjoins Menkent and Omega Centauri, and is influenced by the Centaurs-A Galaxy, Temple of the Centaur.
In modern illustration, the Virgin is shown lying supine, with her head at the beginning of sidereal Virgo. The Virgin’s base chakra (Spica, Alpha Virgo) marks the cusp of Virgo / Libra, while the Virgin’s legs extend well into Libra, with her feet marking the center of sidereal Libra. The modern constellation of Virgo thus embraces about 46 degrees of the zodiak—the longest of the zodiakal constellations. The two primary stars of Libra, Zubenelgenubi (Alpha Libra) and Zubeneschamali (Beta Libra), are shown as the scales or balance of Libra, which lie in later Libra, respectively at about 20° and 24° sidereal Libra, merely hanging in mid air.
Predating our current rendering of a supine Virgin, the Virgin was shown standing, only occupying sidereal Virgo, not Libra as well, with Spica being an ear or sheaf of wheat held in her right hand. In Egypt, this was Isis (a Greek derivation of the Egyptian hieroglyphs), also with a sheaf of wheat, and sometimes holding the infant Horus, which later became the image of the Christian Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus. Isis embodied the principles of a Virgin (a pure vessel) and that of a Mother (to give birth), not a Virgin-Mother. Isis embodied the capacity to birth a soul in its full potential, a total or soul-infused awakened being, and to care for and ensure souls’ expression into their highest potential.
Isis / Virgo embodies the exalted feminine principle, and all facets of this principle including the unconditional caring for all life, including the animal kingdom and the Earth (ecology, agriculture, etc). In Summeria and predating the Egyptian rendering of Isis, this is Inanna, Queen of Heaven, which then became the Babylonian Ishtar (I.Star). The rossete is the emblem of Inanna, hence Virgo is the Rose of the World—symbol of life and the unconditional love for all life.
Libra was illustrated as another personification, known as the Balance Holder; also an upright figure holding the scales of Libra. In Egyptian myth, this was Ma'at, who would weigh the human heart / soul at the time of death, with the soul in one scale and an ostrich feather (feather of Truth) in the other. If the heart / soul was heavier than the feather, the soul would need to reincarnate—needing to release its excess weight, or karma—the need to balance its incarnational experience.
The Egyptian Ma'at, although rendered as a woman with an ostrich feather in her hair, was not a deity passing judgment (as some scholars interpret this rendering), but a universal force expressing as balance and order, a natural justice based upon the law of basic equilibrium inherent to the universe. This natural force or principle, later got personified, as was common during the translation of hieroglyphics by Greco-Roman scholars, from which externalized religion was formulated, by those who did not understand that Egyptian imagery was a picture language conveying concepts and ideas, not beings that were worshiped or feared. Ma'at embodies the principle that the relationship between constituent parts must function in balance and as a unified whole.
In Greek myth, Ma'at transposes into the seer Themis, goddess of Mount Olympus, holding the scales in one hand and double-edged sword in the other. Themis was of divine order and law, often called upon to evoked social order, proper procedure and custom. Thesis was shown blindfolded, conveying judgment made with impartiality. In Christian imagery, Themis becomes Archangel Michael holding his double-edged sword of righteousness in one hand and the scales in the other. Note the shift from female figures to male! However, in all cases, Libra was depicted as a divine figure weighing the equanimity of a soul's incarnational experience.
Ma'at, Themus and Michael
Claudius Ptolemy (AD 90 – AD 168) is attributed to altering this imagery of Virgo and Libra by changing the Virgin's upright position to one lying supine, and by removing the image of anyone holding the scales altogether, leaving only the scales and totally obscuring the revelation that Virgo and Libra, as the Balance Holder, had to offer, especially about reincarnation and the natural balance of experience. The symbol of the scales, as they are used today, thus became merely about social order, leaving the question: Order imposed by whom? This would seem to become the Roman church-state in power at the time, under which Ptolemy lived and worked. The "lady of justice" was then used on the Roman Coin, without blindfold; and today she is now merely a metaphorical image used by many judicial systems that dictate proper procedure and social order.
The supine Virgin is another story regarding the obscuration about the reincarnational process; and now with sign-based astrology, even her legs are ignored in sidereal Libra. However, constellatory figuring does evolve to articulate the changing times.
Curiously, the supine Virgin, with her legs extending into the first half of Libra, can still reveal the truth about the reincarnational process when considering another rendering of Libra, illustrated in a wood carving by Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). In this rendering, Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali are the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion, with the chelae extending from the east, from the head of the Scorpion (Dscubha) in early sidereal Scorpio, back into sidereal Libra. Zubenelgenubi is the southern claw (residing on the ecliptic) and Zubeneschamali is the northern claw, (residing a bit north of the ecliptic). When we combine this image of the Scorpion with the supine Virgin posed as if giving birth, we have the open claws of the Scorpion reaching upward toward the Virgin’s feet. Thus, the over all image here (extending from Virgo, through Libra and Scorpio) is of the Virgin giving birth into the Chelae of the Scorpion (natural forces governing life and death), an image that articulates the reincarnational birthing of the soul into a process of soul growth gained through the balance of human experience—an image revealing a far greater understanding about our incarnational experience and purpose on Earth.
This mythical articulation is of course destroyed when considering just individual signs, as if the scales of Libra stands alone, thus severing both the Scorpion’s Chelae and the Virgin’s legs from our stellar mythos, and so too its profound significance. This embracing image brings greater context to our modern image of Libra as the scales of justice—implying the need to experience both sides (a balance) of human experience in order to gain self-mastery as an incarnating soul. It does not imply the guilt trip laden idea of paying for misdeeds deemed by a mediating and governing church-state that pretends to stand between an incarnate soul and God—a ploy used by the antiquated church-state to control and manipulate the masses. Nor does it refer to paying for past deeds done in a prior incarnation, payment imposed by some deity. Here, in the reincarnational clutches of the Scorpion (the scales of Libra), the incarnating soul gains true wisdom by embracing the duality of life, naturally finding equipoise in the dualistic forces of life and death, and subsequently gaining the true freedom from the Chelae of the Scorpion.
In addition to indicating the need of the incarnating soul to grow through the balance of experience, Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali can also be considered the karmic and dharmic seats for humanity, the former about our past experience and patterns of growth, and the latter about our future path of experience and growth, that which we have yet to do, our capacity, or duty in a sense, to do it differently; by choosing to move from the patterns and scenarios of the past and to participate in a new way, to step into a new way of being, upon a new path of experience—in essence to complete one’s destiny or incarnational purpose of soul growth.
Saturn is now approaching its conjunction with Zubenelgenubi, which is of primary significance here. Zubenelgenubi marks the exalted location for Saturn in the ecliptic. Thus, Saturn expresses in a dynamic, independent and empowered way.
Alignments with Zubenelgenubi, the southern claw, can indicate a responsibility to address or complete any entrapping situations—unfinished business, or simply entrapping patterns and scenarios in this life. Zubenelgenubi not only is Saturn’s exalted location in the ecliptic, it also marks the longitude of Pluto’s perihelion—giving us a clue to Saturn and Pluto’s relationship. Saturn is often called the lord of karmic retribution. Amongst several things, Saturn demands we demonstrably and responsibly face our fears, grow and mature, and this is a key theme in our Eclipse Lunar Cycle.
Alignments with Zubeneschamali, the northern claw, can indicate our responsibility to step forward from our past patterns of growth and life scenarios into new experience, by responsibility choosing a new experience, to choose a new way, a new way of participation. It is through this balance of experience that we free ourselves from our past, or better to say, that fulfills our past.
Dark cloud in the Southern Cross The swirling patterns of gas in this image came as a complete surprise to astronomers. They are located thousands of light years away from Earth in the constellation Crux, the Southern Cross. Crux is such a prominent constellation in the southern sky that it features on the flags of seven countries, including Australia and New Zealand. Hence, as the scales of Libra, we can see how the two energetics work in balance for the growth of the soul. We must pursue new experience while completing or integrating our past experience. If we do not choose new experience we stay entrapped in our past patterns. If we remain in denial of our past experience and avoid accepting responsibility for it, our past patterns pull on us relentlessly, making it quite difficult to experience the lives we truly seek. Either way, we stay entrapped in the Scorpion’s clutches. Thus, the “art of (Libra) living,” living in balance, takes on an expounded meaning.
Further articulating this theme is the neck and head of the serpent, held in the hand of Ophiuchus, reaching for the Northern Crown, which lies north of the Scorpion’s chelae and over the feet of the Virgin; and the stars of the Centaur, teacher of self-mastery in the physical world, which lie south of the chelae. The Centaur teaches the right way to live to attain our evolutionary freedom. The Centaur stands over and protects the Southern Cross, which embodies the pure unadulterated essence of our soul purpose in the world—the original cardinality of the soul (also the four cardinal virtues seeming lost to most of humanity) before the aberrations, confusions, attitudes, and beliefs incurred by the soul throughout its entire incarnational sojourn.
Ophiuchus, standing upon the Scorpion, is demonstrable example of one who has achieved this purity of intent, this incarnational equilibrium, and attained this evolutionary freedom. Ophiuchus holding the serpent reaching (or pointing) to the Northern Crown (Corona Borealis) articulates the ideal, the goal to ultimately free self from entrapment in the clutches of the Scorpion, which we learn in the balance, and by stepping from our past (karmic) patterns (fate) into our (dharmic) future (destiny)—in full demonstrable mastery over the forces governing life and death. The Northern Crown articulates achieving evolutionary freedom from the reincarnational path of soul growth in the Scorpion's entrapping clutches (in the scales of Libra) by living from the cardinality articulated by the Southern Cross (from soul's pure intent)—soul's incarnational graduation. Hence, this also further articulates the meaning of the rendering of the Egyptian Ma'at as the balance holder (Libra).

Thus our New Moon Eclipse, and this lunar cycle, provide motivation and opportunity to choose to access and live the path of our soul's pure intent and attain a greater evolutionary freedom rather than re-entering and perpetuating the patterns of the past. This eclipse lunar cycle provides us a choice to redefine how to participate in life, and subsequently our way through the radical transition at hand (the Uranus-Pluto Square) and how it may manifest over many years ahead. Saturn's nearby placement at its exaltation with Zubenelgenubi demands we address our past patterns, it demands we grow up and change our adulterated ways of life. This lunar cycle, and the currents set in motion over the time ahead, may offer a powerful wakeup call for humanity. Either we remain entrapped in a crumbling past or we break free and create a new paradigm in our lives and on Earth.
Our New Moon Eclipse also impels us to establish a new level of equilibrium in the dualistic forces common to incarnate life and in our relationships, those personal and those international. It is common in sidereal Libra to oscillate in the field of duality, moving from one side of the coin to the other, of taking this side over that side, often in a mode of constant deliberation and trapped in a past-future outlook of life, often living in grief over the past with hope for a better future. This oscillation can perpetuate and intensify until we learn that taking one side merely feeds the other, and learn to establish inner balance while in the dualistic world, walking the middle road. As we, as humans, continually mature, we eventually learn to transcend the dualistic forces of life, and come into the present, into equipoise. Balance is then no longer about balancing two things, nor about the past and future. It is an inner metamorphosis where we come to experience and participate in unity consciousness, living poised in the perfect center, from a place of inner equilibrium; moving from a past-future mentality and mode of being into the present. This is a place of peace and stillness, which unlocks the tension within our neurological coding that keeps us stretched or stressed out in space and time. This eclipse in mid-sidereal Libra provides an opportunistic portal for graduation into a greater freedom of being.
Retrograde Mercury, nesting on the North Lunar Node, is also of influence in formulating our New Moon Theme and this lunar cycle's energetic. Our Mercury North Node Solar Eclipse impels us to move from past patterns (South Lunar Node) in sidereal Aries, those of self-focus, into a new way of cooperative balance. Here while in the midst of Mercury's retrograde, we are shifting from the previous Mercury synodic cycle into the next, thus impelled to redefine the logistical aspects of our lives, how we think, and all that is Mercurial.
Mercury's entire retrograde conjoining Saturn fuses with the Solar Eclipse theme. This brings emphasis to redefining how we function, participate and communicate on a daily basis in the world. It impels us to return to a purer and more genuine expression of who we are.
Retrograde Mercury and the North Lunar Node conjoin Centaurs-A; Gamma Crusis; Nusakan (Beta) Corona Borealis; and the Northern Quasar 3C 351 in northern Draco.
Centaurus-A is the "Temple of the Centaur," a place so unique that it seems oblivious to and undaunted by its surrounding cosmology. It nests within a very unusual galaxy (NGC 5128) not fitting into any galactic class, thus, unique as the Centaur is, it is unclassified. It is the closest active galaxy to Earth. Centaurus-A is a very deep pool of consciousness, the essence of pure consciousness. It is of quality, beauty, harmony, and perfection.
"The jets and lobes emanating from Centaurus A (NGC 5128) have been imaged at sub-millimeter wavelengths for the first time. The new data, from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile, which is operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), have been combined with visible and X-ray wavelengths to produce this striking new image."

Centaurus-A invites us to create a contemplative or meditative harmonious space or environment from which to access our inner cardinal soul wisdom, our original and unique purpose and intent, which underlie the aberrations, false beliefs, and restricting concepts we may have placed upon ourselves. Centaurus-A invites us to enter a place of inner stillness, to relinquish the concepts of thought we associate with our existing lives. This inner excursion requires a willingness to go deep within and to allow a disintegration of the constructs of self we hold, our human mold, of what we think ourselves to be, and to emerge with a far deeper awareness of our true selves, the inner knowing of our true essence. We can then bring that pure essence, that intent, back into our life expression without the need to mold ourselves into mass consensus. The successful feat can result in an inversion or flip in consciousness—with a revelation of great magnitude, one that can change our lives forever.
Centaurus-A also conjoins Nusakan (Beta), Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown, and the Quasar 3C 351 of northern Draco. This quasar inspires access to ancient time, when soul was pristine in its intent and purpose, and to pull this awareness into the present expression with passion, enthusiasm, art, and beauty to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment, exemplified by Ophiuchus holding the serpent pointing its head to the Northern Crown. Nusakan, Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis impel personal action to find away through the labyrinth of obstacles in life that impedes us to achieve our personal fulfillment and evolutionary freedom.
Interestingly, this placement of Mercury and the North Lunar Node at this point in sidereal Libra is also the location of the previous Saturn synod that began the new 387-day Earth-Saturn synodic cycle on April 28, 2013—occurring at the time of the April 2013 Lunar Eclipse, with the Sun conjoined Mars. Thus, this solar eclipse creates a direct resonance with this Saturn cycle due to the Lunar Node placement. This eclipse activates the current Earth-Saturn synodic cycle. In addition, the Sun conjoins Saturn in 3 days (on November 6, just before the Crescent Moon) bringing us to the mid-point of realization in the current Earth-Saturn cycle.
As always, Saturn alignments can be rather heavy, somber and sobering. Saturn always asks us: What really matters, and are we doing it. It cuts away the superficial to get to the bottom line and forces us to face our deepest fears. And here, at the temple of the Centaur, it impels a very deep inner exploration of these issues. The Grand Trine Kite formed by the Saturn-Neptune-Ceres Grand Trine, with the Sun-Mars conjunction driving it, brings us both the question and the opportunity to address how we are using our creative power in our lives and are we accomplishing what really matters to us. Does the application of our creative energy address the real issues at hand and where we are going in our lives, as a species, and as a world? The Sun-Mars facet of this kite creates a focal point to Saturn—which we must address.
There are phenomenal planetary configurations occurring over these few years, speaking specifically about the Uranus-Pluto Square, and how it is creating major aspects to everyone's natal Eris (for those born between 1944 and 1988). Do not underestimate the powerful forces at play, impelling us to create radical change in our lives and in our world, to live from a greater inner truth and to pursue what really does matter.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon occurs on November 6, conjoining Venus by 2° on the Gate of God in early sidereal Sagittarius. The Crescent Moon's conjunction with Venus is due to Venus' Eastern Elongation, which occurred on November 1, 2013. This is when Venus conjoins the Crescent Moons over a few lunar cycles. This brings our attention back to matters of the Heart, and all Venus related issues—especially with emphasis to trust intuition over mind.
Conjoining stars include Al Nasl of Sagittarius; Nu Ophiuchus, Nu and Xi of Hercules; and Theta Ara. Also of influence is the Solar Apex and the Trifid and Lagoon Nebulas in Sag.
Sagittarius, stargate to Galactic Center, is commonly referred to as the Sagittarian Centaur, Zen Archer, or the First Horseman whose arrow points toward Galactic Center. From R.H. Allen (Star Names: Their Lore & Meaning): "the Strong One, and Illuminator of the Great City (i.e., galactic center); Light of the White Face; and on the stones of Sippara (the Sepharvaim of the Old Testament)—a solar city Sagittarius, 'appears sculptured in full glory.'" Sagittarius is the Galactic City of Light responsible for the higher spiritual education about our true galactic heritage.
The intersection of the galactic plane (our Galaxy's equatorial plane) and the ecliptic of the Sun (Earth's orbital plane) creates the fixed axis of Earth's Precessional Cross. The "Gate of God" (at 5° sidereal Sag) and its opposite point, the "Gate of Man," (at 5° sidereal Gemini) are the nodes of this axis in the ecliptic. The "Gate of God," is astronomically called the Galactic Equatorial Node (GEN). The Gate of God brings emphasis to soul's greater mission and purpose on Earth; and to the precessionally driven "evolutionary cycle of the soul." The relationship of the moving vernal axis, which is currently square the galactic axis, defines the timing of evolutionary cycle of soul consciousness on Earth, which peaked in late 1998 (circa 2000). See "Timing of Earth’s Precessional Cross" to learn more about this.
The ecliptic plane is the soul (solar) plane for our planet, and it resonates at this level. The galactic plane is of the greater galactic awareness in which our local soul-level plane nests. It is through the nodal axis of these intersecting planes where a transference of galactic awareness occurs with soul-plane consciousness.
Planetary placements at the Gate of God bring emphasis to the greater evolutionary transition that is occurring now for Earth and all life on Earth, and to our greater soul-level purpose on Earth. They can also stimulate a greater level of perceptual awareness.
A couple of degree further in ecliptical longitude is the Solar Apex (conjoining Venus), which lies in the northern heavens. The Solar Apex (also called the Sun’s Way) marks the unique location in the heavens toward which our Sun is “currently” traveling, which lies north in the heavens near the Vega star system in Lyra. The Sun travels over 4 billion miles through space in one Earth year. Thus, in truth , Earth never returns to the same place in space every year because Earth does not travel around the Sun in a flat circle, but in a helical path through space. This is but another facet about planetary cycles that reveals why they create a constantly changing evolutionary progression in consciousness.
The Lagoon Nebula
Like brush strokes on a canvas, ridges of color seem to flow across the Lagoon Nebula, a canvas nearly 3 light-years wide. The colors map emission from ionized gas in the nebula were recorded by the Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys. Also known as M8, the nebula is a star-forming region in the constellation Sagittarius. Hubble's remarkably sharp, close-up view reveals undulating shapes sculpted by the energetic light and winds from the region's new born stars. Of course, the Lagoon Nebula is a popular target for earthbound skygazers, too. Image Credit: NASA
The Solar Apex is held open by the outstretched hand of the god–man, Hercules, formed by Xi, Nu and Omi Hercules. Hercules stands upside-down in the heavens with his feet (soul purpose) in the realm of the Gods and his hands (daily work) in the realm of incarnate souls. The Solar Apex embodies the unique and majestic path of the soul and leads to the evolutionary fulfillment articulated by Vega, the Harp Star. At a personal level, the Solar Apex asks us to honor that we each have a soul path that is totally unique to ourselves, a path that is beyond what others may see or even relate to. The Solar Apex invites us to honor and to walk our very unique sole/soul/solar paths in the world no matter what those paths may look like to others or how they may or may not fit in with mass-consensus.
Al Nasl, the tip of the arrow of the Zen Archer, which points toward the Heart Center of our Galaxy, conjoins the Gate of God and the Solar Apex. Al Nasl and conjoining stars inspire us to hold undaunted focus upon our goals and our greater life purpose in the higher spiritual interest of our souls. Al Nasl inspires us to pierce the veils of illusion and hit the mark of our highest ideals and dreams.
The themes of the Solar Apex, The Gate of God, the tip of the Zen Archer's arrow, and the dazzling surrounding nebulas all amalgamate. Here we are asked to take aim and undauntedly pursue our ideals and dreams in total trust. To Believe! This amalgamate asks us to focus without hesitancy or doubt upon our soul purpose in life and to know that our unique paths, although often obscured, nest within the greater directive and in the spacetiming of the evolutionary cycle of the soul collective on Earth. Here we are asked to live true to our soul intent and to live and act in the now, in the moment-to-moment focus, undaunted in the zeropoint power of Divine Love and Truth.
Our Venus Crescent Moon brings our attention to the longer-term evolutionary transition now upon us and to living true to the heart, and to the power of the heart—not to be underestimated here at the Gate of God—as the means to move through the intense and transformative times at hand. It especially emphasizes the need to trust in intuition and in the power of love. It brings emphasis to attune to the magnetic forces of life. In the context of the New Moon eclipse theme, it impels a fresh start from a place of pure intent expressed from the heart and through the higher principles and vision that the star gate of Sagittarius offers. This is the way through what may seem to be a somber and intense time of transition. Arriving to the Gate of God is where a parting of the waters occurs, articulated by the story of Moses parting the Red Sea, in this case we have a parting of the ways, those who choose fear from those who choose a greater truth of an open heart.
Venus, here at the hand of Hercules beholding the path of the Sun, invites us to break free from the societal lifestyles and cultural beliefs we have come to accept as normal, trying to fit into an antiquated mentality of what life should be, trying to fit into a way of life that can no longer work, into a mold that can no longer contain a heart wanting to fly free into a new realm of being. Here we are impeld not to be normal, trying to fit in, but to become natural and true to self. The Zen Archer's arrow can only fly free from the intent of a heart unbounded by the limits of mind.
Venus continues to play a key role throughout the times ahead, now in her passage through Sagittarius, she will conjoin Pluto (and square Uranus) a bit later in this lunar cycle, as well as starting a new Venus-Pluto synodic cycle. This will lead into the start of the next Venus retrograde, which will begin on the 2013 December Solstice (viewable in the 2013-2014 Graphic Ephemerides.)
Venus throughout this lunar cycle, as it moves through the stars of the Zen Archer, impels a much greater heart opening, adventures of a free heart, and to embrace greater truths being revealed in our world as Pluto sojourns through Sagittarius as it squares Uranus. Deeper fears may surface throughout this process. Those unwilling to exchange fear for unconditional compassion and love may become further entrenched in the tumultuous currents at hand, while those willing to be vulnerable, who delve into a deeper love and a more embracing truth, may find that their arrow of truth can find its way to a new home.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, this Crescent Moon is an ideal time to work with the Venus audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
Jupiter begins its retrograde in sidereal Gemini on November 6, a few hours after the Crescent Moon. Jupiter, in sidereal Gemini, began its geocentric T-square with Uranus and Pluto in August of 2013. Now, in this lunar cycle, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto will make their synodic (heliocentric) T-square later in this lunar cycle (discussed above in this lunar month's synopsis), and explored more below. Earth and Jupiter will begin their new synodic cycle in January 2014, in the midst of its retrograde. This very significant synod occurs in sidereal Gemini conjoining Sirius, the impetuous great world teacher, and Canopus, helmsman of the Argo (also conjoined the United States Sun (I present material about the US Sun's conjunction with Sirius and Canopus in my We the People and the Stars video "Potential of a Nation.")
Jupiter will then make its second aspects with Pluto and Uranus just before it completes its retrograde in early March 2014. Jupiter will then move into position to create the very significant Mars-Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto Grand Square in April of 2014. This upcoming and catalytic event in April marks the full mobilization of the energetic set in motion in this Eclipse Lunar Cycle and that of the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto synodic T-square occurring within it.
Translation? This lunar cycle marks the turning of the Uranus-Pluto Square from stimulus to action to initiating action in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto cycle that began in the mid-1960s. This revolutionary and revelatory turning, occurring now in the transcendent evolutionary currents effecting all of humanity will fully engage in a more outward and palpable way starting in April of 2014, an energetic with repercussions that will continue for many years to follow. Undeniably intense and profoundly significant, this should catalyze a major turning in many facets of our existing world paradigm.
Keep in mind that we are experiencing a decomposition of an unsustainable social-political-economic-technological paradigm, a process that can only intensify, during which a greater revelatory truth emerges. This unveiling impels us to birth radically new creative solutions that are essential for us to emerge into an entirely new paradigm.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, this entire lunar cycle is an ideal time to work with the Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus audio meditations. The Sun, Juno and Neptune align on November 8 in sidereal Aquarius starting a new 4.5-year synodic cycle, which continues to April 2018.
Juno is the asteroid of covenant relationships, soul colleagues, and true lovers. Juno is not only of personal relations, but also those of a business nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one’s life. There is an acceptance of another’s truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses in mutual support and unconditional love to allow each other to grow and change through whatever issues surface.
At a personal level, Juno’s placement in the astrological chart is one of several points that determine the types of significant relations drawn into our lives and the nature of issues we may face in those relations. Juno's placement specifically reveals the nature of the compatibility we seek, that is, what is important to us regarding our partners. Because Juno is where we deal with our inferiority / superiority complexes, and if this issue is prominent, partnerships drawn in earlier life can be full of lessons regarding such issues and not much else. Once a certain level of emotional maturity is attained within self regarding any related issues, we draw partners that are more compatible or true soul level covenant partners. This does not mean we still do not grow regarding Juno issues, but there are those individuals with which we may also have a mutual soul bond and mission to pursue together.
Potential Juno issues can manifest as superiority / inferiority complexes, power struggles, control issues, jealousy and possessiveness, stalemates and standoffs, and other types of inequality issues. More about Juno.
The Gas Giant Neptune is of inspiration, ideals, dreams and visions; as well as inspiring a new visionary-based, universal consciousness. Neptune imparts a dissolving force. Neptune’s atmosphere shifts and changes continuously, looking quite different in just a few days time. This is one of the astrophysical characteristics of Neptune that reveals why Neptune tends to dissolve things into universality; it is amorphous, swirling and shifting, and thus also lends itself to the exploration of creative ideas and alternative realms of perception; and also to merge in consciousness with others and with one’s surroundings. Neptune dissolves boundaries and thus enables one to see imagery beyond the semantics of words and language.
Neptune can however leave one lost in a dream world, unable to see if ideas and visions have any real substance or viability, which can leave one living in illusion, self-deception, confusion, or behind a veil or mask. Thus the issue of discernment arises as well. Neptune, in a lesser expression, can leave one impressionable, easily lost in followings, the paranormal or phenomenology. It can express as martyrdom or savior complexes; and as deceptive mysterious behavior as a way of hiding. Avoidance and seeking escape is common, especially through addictions, such as drug abuse, especially hallucinogenic drugs.
Neptune-Juno cycles, in general, are about the dissolution of our previous ideology about what constitutes relationships and how we interrelate, and the formation of a new ideological model. This occurs not only in intimate personal relationships, but also in those of business and politics. The Juno-Neptune cycles are rather principle in formulating and evolving our morals in relationships, what is and is not acceptable in our relationships.
The Juno-Neptune synods progress through the ecliptic at an arc of about 9°. The last four synods occurred in sidereal Capricorn, starting in 1995 at the cusp of sidereal Capricorn. These synodic cycles, especially the early two, occurring from 1995 to 2000, and 2000 through 2004, expressing through the first half of sidereal Capricorn, imparted more of a covert and militaristic ideology, one driven from exclusive self interest, personal motive and domination. A good example of this is seen in the international relations occurring during that time between the US and Iraq, between US President Bush and Saddam Hussein.
The next cycle in Capricorn (2004-2009) occurred in the overlap area of the constellations of Capricorn and Aquarius. It began a shift toward more open and inclusive relations, with a focus toward legalities and justice amongst groups. The last synod occurring at the cusp of sidereal Aqaurius was the first at the doorway to a humanitarian focus. This cycle, 2009-2013 occurred as Neptune moved from the Aquarian cusp to its current location at about 9° sidereal Aquarius. The 2009 synod was also the time of the Juno-Chiron synod and the Juno-Neptune synod occurring just 2° apart, in the April 25, 2009 Lunar Cycle; and the start of the Chiron-Neptune geocentric conjunctions with the very significant 85-year Chiron-Neptune synodic cycle starting a few months later in early 2010. Thus, this last cycle (2009-2013) initiated a primary shift of focus for our ideology of relationships, it impelled us to heal wounds of the past, and motivated a focus to evolve a new bridge into the future based upon humanitarian ideals in our relations.
This current Juno-Neptune synod conjoins Sadalmelik of Aquarius; Deneb of Cygnus, and Fomalhaut of Piscis Australis. Also of influence is Sadachbia of Aquarius and Enif of Pegasus.
Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer, nourishes the body of humanity, which is articulated by Piscis Australis (the southern fish) and embodies the essence of human society. Fomalhaut, of Piscis Aus. is the fish's mouth into which the nourishing Aquarian waters flow, and through which humanity speaks. Fomalhaut is the voice of humanity. One of the "Four Royal Architects," Fomalhaut is the administrative seat of the aquatic quadrant of the heavens. Fomalhaut embodies the essence of sidereal Aquarius—inspiring a future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society and is the essence of philanthropy. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. It is of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition. People with prominent Fomalhaut placements have a need to speak for humanity as a whole and about humanity's fundamental needs. They seek ways to create an evolved human society, one free from segregations.
Sadalmelik, Alpha Aquarius, is one the stars creating the Diamond of the Aquarian Waterbearer. The Diamond consists of Sadalmelik, Sadachbia, Seat (Pi), and Eta Aquarius, with Zeta Aquarius lying in their midst. This grouping of stars form the Urn of Aquarius, from where the nourishing humanitarian waters flow.
Sadalmelik, the "lucky one of the kingdom," is the directing force of this flow. Sadalmelik creates an air of recognition and acceptance in the kingdom of human affairs—especially for those involved in the arts and sciences. Sadalmelik brings fortuitous opportunity for those with humanitarian interest, and who are in those arenas where such interest can be expressed. Sadalmelik is of leadership and prominent alignments with it inspire visionary administration of humanitarian efforts.
Ancha, Theta Aquarius, south of and conjoining Sadalmelik is the Waterbearer's talisman on his belt or thigh and articulates this fortuitous capacity for fulfillment. It is of one who “holds the vision” of the Aquarian Waterbearer. Ancha is also of knowledge, secrets, science, research, writing, scribes, teachers, record-keepers and mediators, and the articulation of this intelligence.
Lying in the northern heavens upon the galactic equator we find Cygnus the Swan, also called the Northern Galactic Cross. Deneb, tail of the swan, is the principal star of Cygnus and marks the top (head) of the northern galactic cross. Deneb is about two hundred times the diameter of our Sun, with a very high luminosity, estimated to be about one quarter million times that of our Sun.
Deneb is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters in Earth's Precessional Cycle, thus governing the first of the seven heavens (evolutionary epochs) in the Earth's precessional cycle. It is the messianic head of the Cycle of Earth’s Precessional Cross—of the evolutionary cycle of the soul—and it is the overseeing administrative seat for this area of the zodiak.
Deneb embodies our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence before fragmentation into race, sex, or creed. Deneb inspires us to stand in the awareness of our wholeness and to participate from the maturity of unity consciousness, unbiased and beyond the segregations and categorizations common to incarnate life and those common to mass-consciousness.
This Juno-Neptune 4.5-year cycle is the pinnacle of the current cycles emphasizing a humanitarian focus in partnerships and negotiations. It invites a maturing in how we interact with each other. It invites social acceptance, an inclusive and non-judgmental interaction, one acceptant of our unique differences of race and gender. It invites relationships and partnerships of all types to participate as a unified force supportive of our greater evolutionary fulfillment. It also brings emphasis to partnerships with a humanitarian focus of intent, especially those of a leadership capacity regarding humanitarian and social issues, and those interested in forming a new societal ideology. It also impels an attraction between those who are progressive, unique and unconventional.
The Moon conjoins Juno on November 9, the day after the Juno-Neptune Synod, thus bringing emphasis to relationships on both November 8 and 9.
The Sun, Venus and Uranus align on November 9-10 in mid-sidereal Pisces, just after the Juno-Neptune synod, and just three hours before the First Quarter Moon. The Venus-Uranus cycles are much faster that the 4.5-year Juno-Neptune cycles. This Venus-Uranus cycle is 227 days long. The Venus-Uranus synods progress only by a couple of degrees through ecliptic because Venus catches up to Uranus rather quickly as it orbits the Sun, thus the themes of these cycles shift rather gradually.
Venus is the Roman name for the Greek Aphrodite, goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Venus has also been called the "jewel of the sky"; "Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus as the evening star"; from a modern day astronomer's view, "Earth's sister planet"; and from an astrologer's view, the "compliment to Mars."
Other cultural names for Venus include: the Babylonian Ishtar; the Syro-Palestinian goddess Ashtart; the Aztec: Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli (meaning "Lord of the House of Dawn."), an apparition of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent; the Maya: Kukulcan (Venus was the Mayan patron of warfare, with several battles coinciding with significant Venus alignments); and the Norse Sif, noted for her "conjugal fidelity."

The astrophysical resonances of Venus govern the heart bio-energy centre (chakra), and the thymus, which is the neurological control center for the immune system. Like the thyroid (governed by Mercury) is reflexed to the liver, the thymus is reflexed to the spleen. The heart chakra is our centre of intuitive knowing, harmony, magnetic attraction, that which we value, love, romance, and sexual rapture. It is where we find our capacity for compassion and appreciation of beauty. The heart chakra and thymus resonate to the emotional tone of fear and judgment. It is fear that shuts the heart down and causes all immune related problems. We defend our fear with judgment. The astrophysical resonances of Venus also govern heart musculature and firing, lungs, bronchiole, and breasts.
Venus (and the heart chakra), when mature and clear, expresses love in art and beauty, with a wonderful capacity for unconditional acceptance of all conditions--true, non-judgmental love. The unconditionally open heart receives and expresses love that is harmoniously balanced. Mature Venus is open to new experience, is courageous, optimistic, and aware of soul intent and purpose--as the unconditionally open heart is where soul fully radiates its light. Mature Venus is also sociable, fashionable, artistic, good willed, benevolent, diplomatic, and magnetically sensuous. Venus is also of what we value, thus influencing wealth and resources in our lives and she can play an influential role in financial matters and the flow of money.
Uranus placement in the chart reveals where and how we break from the conformity of the past. Uranus is radical, spontaneous, and electrical. It supports the expression of our uniqueness and originality.
Uranus, in its clear and evolved expression, brings the ability to spontaneously change and to create new frontiers in experience and consciousness. It is the true pioneer, uninhibited by convention and establishment (Saturn). Uranus inspires the expression of our unique individuality in radical confidence. Uranus instills a future-orientation and humanitarian focus; and embodies quickness and alertness of consciousness often producing a lightning-like creative mind when prominently aspected. Uranus provides an ability to work with higher orders and principles—providing a higher-mind prowess for telepathy and all super-consciousness functions and mechanisms. Uranus instills an appreciation of excellence and perfection. It is the applier of the higher sciences and inspires new discoveries in technology and consciousness.
Uranus in its chronic expression can manifest as fear to change, to be spontaneous, or to take radical steps. It can express as judgment of other’s uniqueness and gifts, or of one’s own eccentricities and uniqueness; which covers a fear of being accepted or rejected, of being persecuted, and thus expresses as seeking sameness as a means for gaining acceptance. It can manifest as expressing other’s truths and philosophies rather than one’s own. An acute or hyper Uranian energy can express as instability, erraticism and hyperactivity, with an inability to follow through—ungrounded electrically.
This Venus-Uranus synod conjoins Algenib of Pegasus and the Quasar 3C9 of Pegasus; the Garnet Star of Cepheus; and Eta Cetus.
Algenib, Gamma Pegasus, tip of this horse's wing, is a fortuitous star and marks the center of sidereal Pisces. Algenib articulates our need or capacity to lift ourselves above Cetus, the techno bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, that is, above the psychic-emotional fear-based realm of life. This does not mean in denial of it, but in the personal clarity to not be entangled or caught in it. Algenib asks us to refine the entire spectrum of self, our mental, emotional and physical density, so as to become vibrationaly light enough to lift ourselves above the dramatics of human life.
The term Quasar (Quasi-stellar Radio Source), coined in the 1960s, is now an antiquated description, but the name is still used. Quasars are now believed to be active galaxies. They are similar to normal galaxies except two highly potent beams of radio emissions radiate from the top and bottom of the galaxy’s disk. Generally, we can associate Quasars with an ancient and mysterious creative power.
Quasars in general can bring experience that is out of the ordinary, experience that does not fit into our normal reality. This oddity helps to shatter our limiting concepts of how the universe works. They also inspire exploration of alternatives outside of our current realm of experience. Quasar 3C9 of Pegasus invites us to follow whatever intuitive impulses or flashes of insight we may perceive that can lift us above any psycho-emotional entrapments or dramatics so we can attain our greater freedom and fulfillment in life.
North of and conjoining Algenib is the Supergiant Garnet Star, Erakis. Most people naturally tend to notice the bright stars of Cepheus when looking into the heavens, but the blood-red Garnet Star of Cepheus is often missed—a beauty, especially through binoculars. Similarly, we miss seeing the opportunity for attainment or solution when only watching the obvious around us.
The Garnet Star lies at the head of King Cepheus forming a triangle with Alderamin and Zeta Cepheus. Erakis imparts a quality of royalty, prominence, largeness, passion, prosperity, abundance and wealth; and the appreciation of such. Erakis exemplifies the role or crown of the King—to protect and govern without being lost in wealth’s glamour or the emotional drama of the world. As a supergiant star (about 1420 times our Sun's radius), Erakis imparts a significant astrological influence along with fortuitous Algenib, especially regarding financial affairs and opportunities.
Venus-Uranus cycles are generally about seeking independence of the heart, of creating change in our lives to fulfill our hearts' passion. They can also impel a change of heart, to break away from limiting involvements that are no longer fulfilling. This cycle inspires us to make changes that lift us from any emotional or psychic turmoil or entrapments, those that keep us from a greater fulfillment in life. This cycle and the few to follow can also involve financial issues, to seek ways for greater financial freedom, or in contrast, to break free from involvements that may provide financial freedom but do not fulfill heart's true passion.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on November 9-10 in late sidereal Capricorn. The Moon conjoins Sualocin, Rotanev and Gamma of northern Delphinus; Delta Cygnus; and Al Nair and Gamma Gruis.

This new portrait of the bright star-forming region NGC 346, in which different wavelengths of light swirl together like watercolours, reveals new information about how stars form. NGC 346 is located 210 000 light-years away in the Small Magellanic Cloud, a neighbouring dwarf galaxy of the Milky Way. The image is based on data from ESA XMM-Newton (X-rays; blue), ESO's New Technology Telescope (visible light; green), and NASA's Spitzer (infrared; red). The infrared light shows cold dust, while the visible light denotes glowing gas, and the X-rays represent very hot gas. Ordinary stars appear as blue spots with white centres, while young stars enshrouded in dust appear as red spots with white centres. Image & Caption Credit: ESO/ESA/JPL-Caltech/NASA/D. Delphinus expresses through the last decan of sidereal Capricorn, merging the primary essence of these heavenly angelic guides—the Dolphins—with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence that permeates later sidereal Capricorn. The oracular angelic guides of Delphi merge and meander with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence through the rock-hard conforming stoic past of Capricorn and spring from the ground as prophetic life carrying waters—a flow of guiding wisdom not otherwise available by mortal efforts alone, a flow that leads us from the crystallized into the unbounded future to become.
Sualocin and Rotanev of Delphinus offer guidance for those willing to trust in this greater guiding intelligence, guidance greater than our personal efforts can generate alone. The Dolphins, an expression of angelic dominion, are guides for the wayward, as old salts know. They reveal the way to make safe passage to our destination, to our greater nourishment and fulfillment, provided we listen to and participate in the serendipity of life.
To experience in the serendipity of life requires we surrender the pre-occupations of reasoning mind, those of worry and our need to define and control, of what we "think" we "should" be doing. It instead requires us to be attentive to and trust any subtle impulses we may feel at any given moment—to move with the Divine Intelligence that permeates and fluidly guides our lives. Here lies the art of getting out of our own way to allow creative solutions that lead us from the conforming bounds of limited mind.
For example, we may feel a subtle impulse or have a brief unexpected thought to stop somewhere along a journey, but ignore the impulse with a canceling thought like "I do not have the time," or "that makes no sense—a diversion I am too busy for." When we ignore such an impulse is when we also ignore our opportunity to experience fortuitous serendipity. To honor the impulse is when we find, are serendipitously guided to, that special something—a fortuitous encounter, a chance meeting, an item required, or a piece of information that can make all the difference in the world.
Gruis the crane enters the ecliptic from the south as an underling and eloquently supportive influence to the last decan of sidereal Capricorn. Gruis as the stork, is carrier of bodies of knowledge, information, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. Al Nair of Gruis embodies the intellect of this guiding knowledge and is a star imparting mental brilliance and grammatical expression, especially in the areas of law and natural history. The southern Toucan’s loquacious and gregarious qualities also underlie Gruis contributing to the expressive and articulate nature of this area of the zodiak. The Toucan also articulates the sounds and colors of Earth—the voice of the Earth.
Our First Quarter Moon's stimulus to action may bring guidance or information that leads us to an opportunity or pathway that we otherwise would not see. Attentiveness to any messages along with trust to act upon or follow any guidance is essential.
The Sun and Moon also aspect retrograde Jupiter in sidereal Gemini (Sun trine Jupiter; Moon quincunx Jupiter). This can add an element of opportunity in our daily affairs in the world, or ways to mobilize and expand upon our paths in the world. It may also require willingness to relinquish limiting thoughts that keep us from being open to alternative paths forward. Jupiter's retrograde in the star field of the Twins also impels an inward expansion of mind and intellect, to become more open to new and alternative ways of thinking and interrelating with others.
Mercury completes its retrograde hours after First Quarter Moon, on our day of initiating action in the lunar cycle. Mercury's direct station fully engages the new 116-day Mercury synodic cycle presented in the previous October 4, 2013 Lunar Planner. Keep in mind that this retrograde cycle and the new Mercury cycle is extra-significant for several reasons. The synod occurs on the North Lunar Node just before and conjoined the Solar Eclipse. The entire retrograde conjoins the stars of the Southern Cross and Northern Crown, the theme of this lunar cycle. It also conjoins Saturn, making three conjunctions with Saturn, the last to occur on November 26 in the scales of Libra.
Mercury Retrograde and Saturn
Notice in the video that Mercury makes its first conjunction with Saturn on October 8 conjoining Mu of Virgo. This is also the ecliptical longitude of our November 3 Solar Eclipse and the stars formulating the theme of this Lunar Cycle, those of the Southern Cross and Northern Crown. It makes its second conjunction with Saturn just before the longitude of Zubenelgenubi of Libra, and then makes its retrograde station around the longitude of Zubenelgenubi, which is also the exalted location of Saturn in the ecliptic. It then makes its retrograde conjunction with the Sun (producing the synod) on November 1 (just a couple of degrees to the eclipse occurring on November 3. It makes it direct station around the ecliptical longitude of Syrma of Virgo, with the station exactly conjoining Miaplacidus Carina of Argo Navis (not shown) in the very southern heavens. It then makes its final conjunction with Saturn just past the longitude of Zubenelgenubi and within a fraction of a degree in ecliptical latitude to Saturn.
All of this is about redefining structural and logistical aspects of our lives, and our systems of beliefs, all of which can be long standing, stoic and stubborn or sluggish to change. Zubenelgenubi is of our past patterns (those karmic as well), those that keep us entrapped in those patterns along with their karmic repurcussions. Syrma, is about unlocking frozen celluar coding due to events or experiences of the very distant past (think Atlantis). Friend and astrologer Adam Gainsburg, in his We the People and the Stars video, "Chiron in US Relationships," suggested that America, in its formulation, has resonances with Atlantian time, that many different cultures came together to do it right this time, to try again or to improve on what we did before, that is, to live into an ideology of a greater potential. This is very fitting to the star Syrma, which I dub as Star of Atlantis. Miaplacidus of Argo Navis (conjoining Syrma) is of navigational matters upon the Earthgrid in space and time. It impels us to find new ways forward. It is also of special places and sacred sites, and often motivates pilgrimage or migration to unlock our frozen genetic coding. This entire retrograde cycle and ensuing synodic cycle is also about redefining our relations or our mold of interrelating to return to an unadulterated purity of intent, embodied by the Southern Cross, to equilibrate (Libra) to achieve our evolutionary freedom, embodied by the Northern Crown. This is important not only in our personal relations, but also collectively in international relations between countries.
The entire period of Mercury's conjunction with Saturn, from about October 8 through November 26, can create a heavy on the mind feeling, even accentuating a depressed mind-set. It can also sedate the neurological system, creating somewhat of a physical lethargy. Know that this will pass.
We start the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto Synodic T-square just before the Gibbous Moon. Jupiter makes its exact heliocentric square with Uranus on November 12. The Gibbous Moon then occurs, and just afterward, Jupiter makes its exact synodic opposition to Pluto. At the same time, Venus makes its geocentric square to Uranus as it approaches its geocentric conjunction with Pluto, occurring on November 14 and 15. The Gibbous Moon, occurring on November 13 occurs slightly before Uranus in sidereal Pisces and conjoins Uranus just after, squaring the Venus-Pluto conjunction. At this time, Uranus and Pluto are within 00° 03' to their exact synodic square, which occurs on November 23, just before Last Quarter Moon. Thus the events surrounding the Gibbous Moon though the Last Quarter Moon are rather dynamic and catalytic, to say the least, as we make the Uranus-Pluto square transition. We will explore the Gibbous Moon after this section.
The Jupiter-Uranus synodic square part of this T-square is the first (90°) square in the 13.5-year Jupiter-Uranus synodic cycle that began on September 24, 2010 and which continues through March 13, 2024. The Jupiter-Uranus synod occurred at the Vernal Point of Earth's Precessional Cross conjoining Scheat of Pegasus in early sidereal Pisces. This synod initiated a principal cycle stimulating an awakening in the human populous to create and prepare for wide sweeping revolutionary change. The square, occurring now, stimulates outward demonstrable action to mobilize and expand upon this theme that was set in motion in September of 2010. Wide sweeping revolutionary action to create progressive change is the hallmark of this square.
The Jupiter-Uranus synod created a synthesis of the qualities of Jupiter and Uranus augmented by the stellar energies of the synod, with that synthesis unfolding throughout the synodic cycle and the various phase changes in that cycle, this square being one. Jupiter is a mobilizing and expanding force that magnifies and expands the qualities of Uranus. Uranus breaks us from the conformity of the past and inspires us to function from a higher octave of being. Uranus is radical, unconventional, non-conforming, brings the unexpected, is spontaneous, of higher mind, is illuminating and inventive with a lightning-like charge. Uranus stimulates a future focus and supports the expression of our uniqueness of being.
The details about Scheat of Pegasus and the stars at this area of the zodiac conjoining this synod are presented in the September 8, 2010 Lunar Planner. In essence, there are a few points of pertinence: Occurring at the Vernal Point of Earth's Precessional Cross, this event produces a primary activation of Earth's greater ~25,000-year precessional cycle, reaching into the depths of the evolutionary cycle of the soul collective on Earth; and it stimulates the primary turning in this cycle created by Earth's Precessional Cross occurring at this time in this Great World Cycle.
The energetic of this area of the zodiac, and the Jupiter-Uranus synod, bring attention to how we are using our life force in our lives and in the world. They are about our primordial origins and currents of the distant past. They also bring attention to water and to the life-giving fluids of the body. The vernal point's placement at this location in the Great World Cycle impels us to re align our spiritual essence with our primal carnal essence, to infuse soul into our corporeal selves by fully embracing the emotional issues within self. Until we, as individuals and as a collective, address the discordant emotional aspect of our selves and our world, the actualization of the spiritual into the physical merely remains as a head trip while we continue to experience the tumultuous waters of this evolutionary transition. Uranus at this location stimulates a radical transformation of our discordant emotional nature, to shift octaves into a more refined vibrational resonance. Jupiter now heliocentrically square from Uranus in sidereal Gemini creates a mobilizing and expansive force for this theme to emerge en masse and in the world of daily interaction, commerce and in how we communicate with one another. Obviously, some will do this eloquently, owning their inner emotional discord, while others who continue to blame their emotional discord outside of self may react from that discord even more so.
The Jupiter-Pluto synodic opposition marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the 13-year Jupiter-Pluto synodic cycle that began in November of 2007, presented in the article A Historical Timeline & Astrological Exploration 1982-2020. The Jupiter-Pluto synod occurred at the doorway to the Gate of God of Earth's Precessional Cross in early sidereal Sagittarius. This synod initiated a principal cycle stimulating an expansive mobilization of a catabolic process to deconstruct antiquated behavioral patterns, false beliefs and to reveal manipulative cover-ups by those of a tyrannical and obscuring a greater truth destined to emerge. Pluto is a revealer of truth in sidereal Sagittarius. This cycle stimulates a wide-sweeping movement to uncover the truth, to make visible that which has been hidden behind the scenes, especially regarding the use and abuse of power by those of an imperious nature.

Jupiter's heliocentric placement conjoins Alhena, Mebsuta and Alzirr of Gemini. Also conjoining is the Cone Nebula and Star Cluster NGC 2264 of the Unicorn.
Alhena, Gamma Gemini, and Alzirr, Xi Gemini, mark the feet of Pollux. Alhena is the brand, mark or seal, a marking stone for the unfoldment of what lies ahead. Alhena indicates a milestone or a turning point has been reached or is to be acknowledged. Alhena indicates the need to get off the fence of indecision, to drop any hesitation, as the "time is at hand" to go forth anew. It marks a time of commencement.
As the brand, Alhena also indicates that the time, events, or relations are marked or may be destined. Alhena can also manifest simply as a unique sign, indicating an opportunity at hand. Alhena can also indicate one is physically marked in some way that makes one stand out. This can be a brand or specific seal of some sort, which creates a specific resonance, a link of communication for the fulfillment of one's incarnate mission, or even for the arrival and departure of extraterrestrial craft.
As the dividing star of the sidereal sign of Gemini, Alhena invites a separation, a leaving, a departure, and a new commencement, even an exodus or liftoff—to move on and engage in a new level of participation. Behaviorally, Alhena impels leaving an older or less fulfilling way of participation, one more associated with the managerial day-to-day details, associated with Castor, to one more administrative and spiritual, associated with Pollux the ambassador.
Alhena can also indicate the need to sign a document or legalize a project, involvement, or commitment, which makes it possible to engage in a new level of involvement.
The opposition occurring now should bring far greater awareness to the masses about that which has been hidden and covered up regarding the misuse of power in the world, and especially about the ramifications in our daily lives and in our systems of commerce, communication, and the logistics of daily living. It marks a time of commencement of greater events to come and signifies a "turning point" for humanity. Revelations occurring now in the world and in our personal lives become the writing on the wall for what is yet to come.
Another very significant part of the Jupiter-Pluto synodic opposition is that it occurs on Jupiter's Nodes, with Jupiter on its north node and Pluto on Jupiter's south node. Jupiter's nodes are created by the intersection of Jupiter's orbit around the Sun with the ecliptic plane (Earth's orbit around the Sun). This creates a principle and direct resonance with Earth, making the expansive effects of this opposition even more succinct and potent.
Pluto's conjunction with Jupiter's South Node creates a strong cross-resonance between Jupiter, Pluto and Earth. This is incredibly significant. Jupiter's influence mobilizes and expands Pluto's dismantling and revelatory influence. Jupiter is also at home in (the ruler of) sidereal Sagittarius. Jupiter's has a very clear, empowered and authoritarian expression in Sagittarius. Jupiter is rather at home in sidereal Pisces as well, considered its second home, which is the location of Uranus. Thus, massive Jupiter adds a powerful energetic to Pluto as well as to the Pluto-Uranus synodic square. Think of Jupiter as being Pluto's benefactor, a nice ally to have.
The most obvious thing that astrologers might surmise about Pluto's conjunction with Jupiter's South Node square to Uranus is to indicate revolutionary economic upheaval, on a grand scale. Any such scenario would however be supportive of and in alignment with a Greater Universal Truth being unveiled by Pluto in Sagittarius, although it may not seem so at the time. This dynamic adds to the social revolution already in progress by the Uranus-Pluto Square, and the Uranus part of this square motivates progressive revolutionary change. Note as well that Pluto's conjunction with Jupiter's South Node on the November 24 Uranus-Pluto synodic square occurs in the midst of the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto geocentric T-Square, occurring from June 7, 2013-August 20, 2014)—we will explore this T-Square in depth in the related Lunar Planners.
Keep in mind that the November 24 synodic square does not mean a momentary event, as this stretches out into Earth time throughout the Uranus-Pluto geocentric square and is augmented by additional planetary cycles. Do not underestimate this event however, as this first square creates a primary turing point in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto synodic cycle, as we move from "stimulus to action" into "initiating action" and into the "externalize expression" of the forces involved.
Another way the this Jupiter-Pluto resonance may express (nesting within the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-Square) is to catalyze a massive acceleration and expansion of the overall Pluto-Sagittarius theme—revelation of a greater truth, a greater unveiling of that which is false and hidden, which in turn will motivate a greater level of revolutionary action in society, as well as an entirely new level of revolutionary discoveries and inventions that support humanity moving into a new level of independence.
The Uranus-Pluto synodic square is of course the main event here. It is presented at great length in "Revolution & Revelation: The Uranus-Pluto Square 2012-2015."
Here we move into the action quarter of the Uranus-Pluto synodic cycle. A primary thing to consider is that which has been occurring in our world regarding this cycle has been merely stimulus for radical transformation. This stimulus now begins to manifest outwardly in a far more dramatic and palpable way throughout the social, political and economic structures of our world and in the actions of the human populous—we the people.
This T-square creates a dynamic and potent focus upon Uranus, an energetic force that must fire like that of a crossbow. This energetic expresses from Uranus to the Sun, exploding this solar powered Uranian force to the opposite side of the ecliptic, in the midst of sidereal Virgo (about 15°-16°). This is an area of Virgo to watch, especially for those who have personal placements in this area of the zodiak.
I am sometimes asked about the relationship of heliocentric placements and aspects with geocentric placements. There are two primary things I consider in my observations: 1) Heliocentric alignments and aspects (synods and synodic cycles) effect the entire collective populous, they create the underlying evolutionary currents upon which the geocentric alignments and aspects nest. The geocentric placements and cycles reveal how the heliocentric articulate and manifest on Earth and in our personal lives. 2) A heliocentric placement, such as this T-square expressing into mid-sidereal Virgo, effects the same location in a geocentric chart through direct resonance. A placement or event in a specific area of the ecliptic is one and the same independent of where we are looking at it from, the Sun, the Earth, or any other planet. Thus heliocentric and geocentric events are interactive as they are occurring in one unified (star) system.
Stars conjoining this area of Virgo include Vindemiatrix, Porrima and Auva of Virgo. Also of influence are the stars of Corvus the Raven Messenger, and Diadem of Coma Berenices.
Vindemiatrix, Porrima and Auva mark the centre of sidereal Virgo and embody the essence of sidereal Virgo and the axis of Isis (I.Star). This is also the exalted seat of our winged messenger Mercury, significantly adding perspective and understanding to the nature of the stars at this ecliptical longitude. Mercury is the vessel by which these stars function in their highest expression, that is, through the neurology of communication and logistics, and all that Mercury characterizes.
Porrima, just two degrees north of the ecliptic expresses through the higher nature of the Mercurial mind—our higher brain centres that activate a greater perceptual capacity, often associated with clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima impels us to have foresight to see future probabilities. Vindemiatrix, just north of Porrima, classically the Harvester, indicates the time is at hand, that it is in the timing. "This star is said to confer great powers of thought and an exacting, severe nature" (friend and siderealist Andrés Takra). Both stars lie over Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us.
Diadem lies just north of the Virgo. Diadem is the jeweled crown of the Virgin/Isis. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Diadem and the stars of Coma radiate the high spiritual essence of the Super Galactic Center. Diadem impels us to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance and to follow that guidance.
Corvus is of high intelligence, ingenuity, imagination, insight and adaptability. The brains of Ravens are among the largest of any bird species. They are problem solvers, inventors and are highly opportunistic. Corvus is the keeper of secrets and a knowledge holder, but is also a prophetic revealer—the oracular “raven messenger bird” to those who are spiritually and physically attuned, and who ask and listen. Corvus reminds us to pay astute attention to the signs or messages naturally expressing through the world around us moment-by-moment and to adapt accordingly. The signs found in the simplest of life experience can have meaning if we are willing to be attentive to them. In fact, we can even ask to receive guidance simply by briefly holding the intent to inquire and then letting it go. It is the sincere projection of clear intent that vibrationally elicits a response from the world around us. Corvus is a protector as well, of both the animal and human worlds, and will forewarn of approaching danger to avert unnecessary mishaps, as well as to affirm fortuitous opportunities, meetings or events.
The essence of this zodiakal area, comprised by all of these conjoining entities expresses through the higher mental capacities associated with the ability to for-sense future probabilities. This prophetic ability is with specific purpose, not only for communication, but action. This is much more than receiving simple impulses of premonition, and is not only associated with ill-fated events, but is about how our attentiveness and experience "extends" or reaches from the past, through the present, and into the future. This implies the ability to sense future events just around the corner. The purpose of such eves-dropping into the future provides advantage in how to take appropriate action in the present. The purpose of such future-seeing is so that we can prepare and steer our course "to meet" the future events to come. The events felt or seen are already precipitating from the realm of probabilities, already set in motion by our past, which we then meet as we continue along our paths in life.
Uranus expressing from this T-square into this area of the zodiac brings emphasis to the natural world and unexpected or spontaneous events occurring within it. Attention to the signs of nature is of particular importance, as well as to our greater soul/spiritual guidance (however one attunes to it), and most importantly, the need for immediate response to these signs of guidance. It is also about timing and our need to participate in concert with events occurring now and over the month's ahead. None of this is either ominous or fortuitous. it can be either. What may seem to be an ominous message or a disruptive event can also be opportunistic, catalyzing change that leads to a higher octave of expression or participation. Messages and events occurring now (throughout this lunar cycle) can also be premonitory about the future, hence the need to act accordingly in the present.
Neptune completes its retrograde, also on November 13, about two hours before the Gibbous Moon. Chiron follows on November 19, just after the Full Moon. This fully engages the annual Earth-Neptune synodic cycle that began in the midst of Neptune's retrograde on August 26, 2013, and the Chiron cycle, both presented in the August 6, 2013 Lunar Planner.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
Our Gibbous Moon occurs on November 13, approaching and conjoining Uranus by about 2°, and squaring the Venus-Pluto conjunction. This is a significant activation of the Uranus-Pluto square.
The Gibbous Moon conjoins northern Alpha Lacerta, southern Alpha Reticuli; Eta Cepheus and Eta Horologium. Uranus conjoins Algenib of Pegasus; the Garnet Star of Cepehus and Beta Lacerta.
Lying over the first half of sidereal Pisces is the Great Square of Pegasus. The Great Square holds the mystery (knowledge) of the metamorphosis of the physical body into light. Theses stars impel us to rise from our primordial past into our destined evolutionary fulfillment, to become more through our human experience.
North of the Great Square of Pegasus, and also extending through the first half of sidereal Pisces is Lacerta, the primordial Lizard, gate-keeper protecting the entry-way to Earth's precessional polar arc and to the "Primordial Origin" of humankind. Lacerta embodies the knowledge of primordial and elemental forces that mold consciousness itself into organic form; awareness that precedes thought itself.
Alpha and Beta Lacerta mark the head or intelligence of the Lizard. They lie in mid-sidereal Pisces and conjoin Algenib of the Great Square of Pegasus—an empowered point in sidereal Pisces. Alpha and Beta Lacerta, Along with Algenib, articulate the need or capacity to rise above and gain mastery over the psychic-emotional forces common to the Piscean world—the ability to participate above any entrapment such forces can create.
Alpha Reticuli, which resides in the very southern heavens, conjoins Alpha and Beta Lacerta (and Algenib). Alpha Reticuli is the foci of the reticule, the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity, the underlying rhomboid or diamond. Alignments with Alpha and Beta Lacerta and Alpha Reticuli stimulate the reptilian brain, governing our instinctual behavior, and the source-resonance of the human DNA, which also indicates how the human DNA is susceptible to psychic manipulation.
To rise above such manipulative forces requires that we fully embrace the primordial aspects of life by infusing the high spiritual awareness of the soul in and through our entwined genetics of physicality. Without the embodiment of soul awareness, literally within the human DNA, and capacity to express the power of that awareness, one remains vulnerable to and lost in the psychic-emotional collective resonance of human consciousness.
The real "secret" or mystery (knowledge) revealed here is that ability to function above psychic-emotional forces is not a mere mind trip, something we do in the head, in just how we think. It requires a surrender of the emotional tension or resistance we hold to allow an opening within the human vessel to infuse soul's coding into the human DNA coding—illuminating the human DNA with soul awareness—to transform carbon into diamond, as the DNA is the urn of the soul, the vessel through which soul expresses.
In addition to all that the T-square reveals (presented above), our Gibbous Moon brings emphasis to our need to cross a barrier or threshold with the sense that time is pending. It brings attention that the way to do this is brought about by new solutions that revolutionize our social-political-economic-technological systems and that support humanity to rise above the tumultuous turning occurring in our existing world paradigm. Keep in mind that we are experiencing the decomposition of an old world the while culturally creative people are birthing a new way forward, of which there are many. However, we all know what gets the press. We feed that which we focus our energy upon, so let us focus upon the solutions.
As mentioned above in the T-square section, Venus squares Uranus and conjoins Pluto just after the Gibbous Moon. Venus and Pluto actually work quite well together as they support revelations of the heart and a wide-open heart. The Uranus square to Venus-Pluto impels non-conforming expression of our uniqueness in action to support those revelations.
Vesta, asteroid of focus, dedication and commitment, conjoins Makemake in sidereal Virgo on Earth's Precessional Cross on November 16. The Sun, Venus and Eris align on November 17 in late sidereal Pisces, which starts a new 225-day Venus-Eris synodic cycle. Both bring attention to the administration of money and resources. The Sun moves into sidereal Scorpio on November 17 as well, just before the Full Moon.
Eris moves very slowly so the annual Earth-Eris and 225-day Venus synodic themes shift ever so slightly. Eris, currently conjoining Revati of Pisces and Baten Kaitos, can be read about here: Eris, The Great Disrupter, Revati & the Global Economic Crisis.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon occurs on November 17 just into sidereal Taurus. The Moon conjoins Algol of Perseus and Alpha Caelum. Also of influence is Zurak of Eridanus, which marks the end of sidereal Aries.

Perseus expresses through the cusp and first decan of sidereal Taurus. Perseus, in the story of Andromeda and the Royal Family, is the hero who slays Medusa, the Gorgon with seven snakes for hair, and then frees the princess Andromeda.
In the story, Queen Cassiopeia, with boastful arrogance, proclaimed that her daughter, the Princess Andromeda, was of far greater beauty than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea. In revenge, Poseidon (a greater authoritarian power), god of sea, sent Cetus the Sea Monster to ravage the shores of ancient Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. After hopeless deliberation, King Cepheus consults the Oracle of Ammon who advised him to sacrifice Andromeda to Cetus as the only way to appease Poseidon. In acquiescence, Cepheus has the princess chained to the rocks by the sea to be devoured by Cetus.
Perseus was born of immortal Zeus and the mortal princess Danae, whose father, King Acrisius of Argos, locked her in a dungeon in fear of a prophecy that if Danae bore a son, he would kill the King. Zeus enters the dungeon in a golden shower of light impregnating beautiful Danae. When King Acrisius finds Danae with her baby Perseus, he locks them in a wooden chest and puts it out to sea. The chest drifts to the island of Seriphos and is found by Dictys while fishing, the brother of the island's king, Polydectes. Dictys takes them in and raises Perseus to become a strong, honorable and intelligent man.
Polydectes had designs to marry Danae, but she refused and he would have by force if it had not been for Perseus protecting her. Thus, Polydectes devises a plan to get rid of Perseus coercing him on a diversionary mission to slay the Gorgon Medusa and to bring her head back to Polydectes, thinking that Perseus would never return.
During Perseus' long and arduous journey, Hermes, the winged-footed herald of the gods (Mercury) and Athena, who were also born of Zeus, visit Perseus. Perseus learns of his divine heritage. He also learns that the Gorgons have snakes for hair and that anyone looking directly at a gorgon would turn to stone. Hermes gives Perseus his winged sandals and explains how to find the Hesperides where he could learn of Medusa’s den. Athena gives him her polished shield so he could use it to look at the reflection of Medusa rather than looking directly at her to avoid turning to stone.
Despite Polydectes’ design to get rid of Perseus, in what becomes an initiatory journey, Perseus instead overcomes his fear and claims his personal power by beheading Medusa. Pegasus, the magical horse with wings (and Chrysaor) sprang from the neck of Medusa. Perseus befriends Pegasus and learns to fly upon Pegasus, demonstrating his capacity to rise above the tormenting emotional fear-based world, now confident in his self-mastery.
King Cepheus of Ethiopia and Queen Cassiopeia thank Perseus
for freeing their daughter Andromeda
La Délivrance d'Andromède (1679) Pierre Mignard, Louvre.
On his way back to Seriphos, Perseus stops in Ethiopia, the kingdom ruled by King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia, where he learns of Andromeda’s entrapment. In one version of the story, he flies over Cetus upon Pegasus, in another using his winged sandals. Either way he has the head of slain Medusa in his hand (Algol at cuspal Taurus), which he reveals to Cetus. Seeing Medusa’s head, Cetus turns to stone and shatters into the sea. He then frees Andromeda, returning her safely to the gracious appreciation of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. Perseus marries Princess Andromeda.
During his journey, he also accidentally kills his grandfather King Acrisius, fulfilling Acrisius's fate. Perseus also returns to protect his mother Danae from the forced marriage with Polydectes, the Seriphos king, to whom he also shows the head of Medusa. Polydectes turns to stone, and Perseus makes Dictys, now consort of his mother Danae, the new king of Seriphos.
Perseus and Andromeda go on to create the city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world. He and Andromeda bore a family as well, two daughters and seven sons. Hercules was descendent of Perseus and Andromeda through one of their sons. (Robert Graves, et. al.)
Algol, Beta Persei, marking the cusp of sidereal Taurus, is the head of slain Medusa held in the hand of Perseus, also the Arabic Demon Star. Of the Gorgons, Medusa, who is crowned with seven snakes for hair, represents the chaotic and self-defeating forces within self, driven by fear. It is fear that freezes us in our tracks, the force that turns us to stone. Perseus cannot look at Medusa directly lest he will turn to stone. He instead uses his shield to see her reflection. This mythically articulates our need to look at that which we hide behind to see the demon apparently outside of self, created by our own fear. Algol brings us a physical challenge and indicates an initiatory and experiential process is required or is at hand. This process begins by slaying our deepest fears to claim our inner creative personal power, or be forever frozen in our tracks unable to claim our fulfillment and complete our greater purpose on Earth. Alignments with Algol can draw a relentless assault of experience that can block or divert us from our purpose until we realize the monster is within—the fear based reflection of self. Algol forces us to look at self rather than at the apparent monsters in the outer world—to recognize they are of our own projection, to own and embrace the fear within. Slaying our fear establishes an inner neurological order that in turn allows us to take empowered action in the physical world. Perseus, the hero, embodies the essence of establishing this order.
Zaurak of Eridanus is a point along the river of life where we must trust our own inner light because our path in the world may not be entirely visible. Here we are motivated to trust the inner light we have cultivated through our past initiatory trials (Aries) and step forth into the Earthy world of Taurus (deonstable physical action).
Conjoining Algol from the south and also contributing to the cusp of sidereal Taurus is Caelum, the sculptor's chisel. Caelum articulates our need to forge through matter, the laborious methodical experiential process required in the physical world to overcome our trials and manifest our visions. Caelum articulates our need to sculpt our lives, chiseled away at a bit at a time just as the sculptor chisels rock to reveal the sculpture waiting to emerge.
Our Full Moon brings our eclipse lunar cycle theme to its culmination. In the context of the New Moon, a question might be: Do I believe enough in the essence of who I am (the Southern Cross) to reach for a greater attainment (the Northern Crown), or do I step back into the past patterns of entrapment (the scales of Libra) I am familiar with? If so, what is the fear I cling to and how do I project that fear outward as the manifestation of my life experience? The initiatory confrontation with Algol invites us to look inward at our own fears to overcome those fears lest we stay frozen only to shatter in the ways of the past along with a crumbling old world paradigm. The demon believed to be outside of self limiting a greater attainment, a greater freedom of being, whether it is a personal habitual pattern, a life scenario, or the beauocratic system we believe suppresses our freedom from being all that we are, is but an excuse made manifest by the fear to live true to heart. This is why Libra (the placement of our New Moon Eclipse) is the home of Venus, and it is Venus, who conjoins Pluto at the climax of our Uranus-Pluto square, who invites us to live from the truth of a wide-open heart, while Uranus invites unprecedented action to create a new life paradigm from the freedom of an unbounded heart.

The November 17 Algol Full Moon 7.8 Earthquake occurring in the November 3, 2013 Hybrid Solar Eclipse Lunar Cycle
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on November 21 in sidereal Gemini. The Moon lies opposite Venus. The Moon conjoins Mekbuda of Gemini; Sirius of Canis Major; and Canopus of Argo Navis.
Mekbuda, Zeta Gemini, marks the left knee of Pollux, the ambassador. Mekbuda inspires change and transformation, and imparts an assertive nature to right that which is unjust, unfair or out of balance. Mekbuda conjoins Sirius and Canopus.
Sirius, Alpha Canis Major, is the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher and knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom. Significant alignments with Sirius can bring teachings, lessons, or events of a global or profound proportion, those that can catalyze tremendous evolutionary change. Although Sirius is not at all of a malevolent nature, such events or lessons can seemingly be imposed upon us without the compassion we might otherwise prefer. Sirius imparts somewhat of a head strong and authoritarian nature, along with a strong sense of responsibility to direct evolutionary affairs.
Conjoining Sirius from the southern heavens is Canopus, Alpha Carina of Argo Navis, lying along the galactic plane. Argo Navis classically is the ship in the story of Jason and the Argonauts, a derivation of the older Sumerian story, Gilgamesh and his fifty Sirian warriors. The Argo lies reverse in the heavens, stern to the east, bow to the west, along the galactic equator, thus associated with that which moves retrograde in the heavens, the greater precessional process on Earth, the evolutionary cycle of the soul. The stars of the Argo are generally associated with evolutionary matters for the entire planetary system, and for all souls evolutionary growth and fulfillment.
Canopus is the second brightest star in the heavens after Sirius. Sirius is relatively close to us estimated at 8.6 light years. Canopus, of another galactic sector altogether, is estimated to be about 312 light years distant. Canopus is a supergiant star, estimated to be about 71 times the diameter of our Sun and about 13,000 times as bright.
As director / navigator of the Argo, Canopus brings attention to our responsibility to steer our evolutionary course and to see to the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all souls and all life on Earth. Canopus also brings awareness to the repercussions of global events and how they affect the greater surrounding cosmology. An older derivation of Canopus is the Egyptian Kahi Nub, meaning "Golden Earth"—representative of the vision held for our beloved Earth by this helmsman. Prominent alignments with Sirius and Canopus can herald potent global experience that serves us to change and grow, or that alter our evolutionary course.
Canopus (along with Miaplacidus, Beta Carina) is director / guide of all astronomical-Earthgrid spacetime matters—including all interdimensional, intraterrestrial, and intraoceanic Earthgrid portal work. Because of its brightness and southern strategic location, Canopus was commonly used as a navigational star in antiquity and today it is a principal stellar reference commonly used for navigating interplanetary spacecraft.
Our Demonstrable Moon impels us to become responsible for directing our evolutionary course, at a personal level and at a global level. We can no longer sit by and watch our lives spiral into chaos, or leave it to the direction of those who have their own agenda based from greed and a desire for power to control the masses. It is the revelation of their actions (Pluto in Sag) that leads to a revolution by the people and for the people (square Uranus in Pisces).
For those born in the mid 60's, the Uranus-Pluto generation, this is your cue for progressive action that will revolutionize your lives and the world.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on November 25 in sidereal Leo a day after the Uranus-Pluto synodic square. The Moon conjoins Pallas and Orcus by a couple of degrees. Mercury makes its third conjunction with Saturn today as well.
Mature Pallas expresses as the artful use of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality’s paradox. Mature Pallas expresses from the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, and from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality—from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another—and to claim that experience as wisdom. It invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express nonjudgmental courageous solution beyond life’s paradoxes created by opposing forces.
Pallas is applier and defender of wisdom and truth; the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness. Mature Pallas accepts personal responsibility for having co-created our experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness. Pallas has the strategic capacity to link, unify and bring together; and has wonderful perceptual skills for planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts or artists. Pallas significantly effects emotional and physical equilibrium.
Pallas issues (an immature Pallas expression) can express as spiteful withdrawal, which ultimately can manifest as self-sabotage due to judgments about use of power or awry creative / sexual energy. It can also express as righteousness, judgment and invalidation of opposite or alternative views, lashing out with a vengeance. Pallas issues can express as an imbalance in the masculine and feminine aspects of self; sexuality issues, dyslexia and perceptual problems. Pallas governs the Liver / Spleen balance (violet / red), which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain.
Orcus was discovered on Feb 19, 2004. Although Orcus is a bit smaller than Pluto, Orcus has a nearly identical orbital size, orbital period (year), and orbital inclination. However, Orcus’ orbital plane’s orientation in our solar system is tilted in the opposite direction from Pluto’s. For this reason, I tend to think of Orcus as Pluto’s compliment. Just as Pluto has Charon as its primary moon, so too does Orcus have a moon, Vanth, discovered on Nov 13, 2005. Just as Pluto and Charon are considered a dual planetary system, so too is Orcus and Vanth.
Although new to the astrological world and thus with an astrological influence not yet fully apprehended, based on Orcus’ orbital parameters, Orcus seems to address how we are applying our personal will for the greater well being of all humanity; how we are contributing to human society. Orcus motivates the use of our day-to-day lives, our daily activity for our souls’ greater purpose on Earth. Orcus seems to express a quiet profundity, almost unnoticed as it serves us to get in touch with our deeper soul essence and purpose—the oaths of our souls, our soul-level agreements, what we are really doing here on Earth.
Orcus and Uranus began a new synodic cycle in March of 1947 in late sidereal Taurus and Orcus then crossed its south node (moving from north to south of the ecliptic) and the Gate of Man in early sidereal Gemini, in the early 1950s. Thus Orcus is of extra-significance for those born throughout this period. More about Orcus.
The Moon conjoins Alpha and Gamma Sextans; The Vela Pulsar of Argo Navis; and Al Kaphrah of the Great Bear.
South of the Lion is the Sextant. The primary stars are Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Sextans. The sextant is a navigational instrument used to determine the vertical position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon. The Sextant’s stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.
On a mundane level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth.

Much like sailing, changing winds require the application of personal will to change the boat's tack to continue toward our longer-term destination. This requires the assessment of our current position and heading, and of the changing conditions around us—the weather, waves, winds and currents—to responsibly set a new tack along our journeys in life.
Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major extends from Megrez and Phecda (Phad); and the hind legs of the Great Bear extend from Al Kaphrah, which forms the hind feet of the Bear, Alula Borealis and Alula Australis, and Tania Borealis and Tana Australis. Al Kaphrah imparts a long-standing and established power, expressed as an assertive and powerful creative force applied to steer and protect. It is of stability, enduring strength and established authority. Al Kaphrah also impels the balanced distribution or delegation of power and authority.
The Vela Pulsar, an extremely old Super Nova remnant conjoining Alpha and Gamma Sextans, expresses through the Sextant's theme. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, constantly providing an inner message or reminder for those attentive to such subtleties. Here the reminder is that the subtle winds and currents do not stop as we take a new tack, but we must remain alert and maintain our poise as we assess our bearings, all factors involved, and reorient ourselves to engage on the next leg of our sojourn. Although our tack may change due to changing conditions, we must keep focused upon our long-term destination and soul purpose.
Our Last Quarter Leo Moon brings attention to personal and global leadership, creative energy, and changing evolutionary currents. It may arouse an inner need to take responsibility to change our approach, tack or path in life to achieve our goals based upon the realizations we may have had throughout this lunar cycle, events occurring within it, or based simply upon the radically changing evolutionary currents. Living as if the old social-political-economic system works may no longer be a viable option. The turning is at hand.
The Pallas-Orcus conjunction is very fitting to the theme of this lunar cycle (Southern Cross / Northern Crown) as it inspires the artful expression of our creative intelligence from the pure intent of our souls, from what we are truly doing here on Earth, to establish a greater social equilibrium, freedom and fulfillment for all life on Earth.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on November 29 conjoining the Dwarf Planet Haumea in sidereal Virgo. Haumea lies north of the ecliptic, having just crossed the stars forming the foot of Bootes.
The Dwarf Planet Haumea (pronounced how-MAY-ah) was discovered on Dec 28, 2004. Haumea has two moons, Hi’iaka (pronounced HEE-’ee-AH-kah) and Namaka (pronounced nah-MAH-kah).
Haumea is the goddess of childbirth and fertility in Hawaiian mythology. Her many children sprang from different parts of her body. She takes many different forms and has experienced many different rebirths. Martha Warren Beckworth suggests the name Haumea more naturally comes from Hanaumea, meaning “sacred birth.” Hence we have an essence of “purity,” a birth that is special, the ability to produce a fresh or clear state of consciousness.
Haumea’s propensity is to intercede with dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise to support a new birth in consciousness, especially the use of the fundamental primordial forces of life. Haumea also appears to motivate action to reorient world powers’ militaristic destructive use of power and resources into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family; and that aids humanity’s emergence into a spiritually and primordial aware state of being. At a personal level, Haumea inspires the application of our personal attributes and resources for these same principles. More about Haumea.
The Pluto-Haumea Synodic Cycle of 1955
Pluto and Haumea began a new synodic cycle in 1955 in early sidereal Leo, with the Pluto-conjunction occurring throughout 1954-1955. People born at that time of or after the Pluto-Haumea synod have entered into an entirely new cycle and energetic. A Pluto-Haumea synod is a very rare event, with the next to occur in about 3500 A.D., thus creating a very long cycle (~1545 years). The theme of this Pluto-Haumea cycle, under the auspices of the Head of the Lion, and for those generations following the 1955 synod, in general, inspires a new birth in consciousness built upon integrity in leadership, with impetus to deconstruct the old form of leadership. Those born in the several years preceding the 1955 synod are paving the way, creating the opening for this new birth in consciousness and new expression in leadership to emerge.
Our Haumea-Balsamic Moon makes a principal conjunction with Eta Carinae of Argo Navis. Also influencing is Alpha Volans and the Seyfert Galaxy NGC 5548 in Bootes.
Late sidereal Virgo can be through of as the womb of the Virgin, holding a gestational and incubational quality for a new birth to emerge. It brings attention to the energetics of our environments and our resources required for an unadulterated birth. It is of nature and the natural forces of life, and it impels a highly energetic and intelligent creative expression—a potential about to explode into a new life.
Eta Carina enters the ecliptic in late sidereal Virgo and due to its massive and extremely active nature, it significantly and prominently influences the latter part of Virgo; the womb or inner sanctum of the Virgin, as well as the themes of Spica and Archturus and of Muphrid and Seginus.

Eta Carina is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy—estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in the 1840s, making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 to 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carina theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998—perhaps Eta's warnings. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time!
Eta Carina, Lord of the Waves, the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu (Eridu*) (he who warned Noah), generally is considered the foreteller of impending catastrophic change, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man "Oannes," who taught the Chaldaeans, both esoteric science and that which would civilize their lives, from building cities and temples to agricultural technique (Robert Temple, "The Sirius Mystery" / Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled"). Eta embodies the esoteric Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Oannes is the emblem of priestly, esoteric wisdom; he comes out from the sea, because the 'great deep', the water, typifies...the secret doctrine." (Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled")
*Archeologists suspect the Mesopotamian city of Eridu was occupied between about 5000 and 2000 BC. Eridu is south of Nasiriya in Iraq (currently called Tell Abu Shahrain).
Due to Eta’s strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level—stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth's safe evolutionary outcome. As a part of Argo Navis and the Argo's keel, Eta is of navigational matters regarding the evolution of the entire soul collective on Earth. Eta Carina's impending Super Nova explosion, is a portent of evolutionary change and impels environmental preparation for such change. It also indicates that something with far greater potential and magnitude can and will birth through the human form—a far greater expression of consciousness. Eta stimulates our need to prepare for and to become capable of this greater expression of consciousness, to create an inner bio-logical environment that is capable of a higher expression of consciousness as well as one that can support such a physical birth.
Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression.
The flying fish articulates an extraordinary force, the ability to gather the momentum and build up the speed to make a leap into and glide through a new realm of experience, one not common to itself. Volans conjunction with the thigh of Boötes and the sacrum of the Virgin brings awareness about the subtle but powerful soul-directed forces guiding our lives and the need to participate with powerfully directed intent to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into a new life expression or new realm of consciousness.
Our Haumea-Balsamic Moon, coalescing our lunar cycle into its seed, brings a succinct message. A new birth is at hand, and we are the midwives.
Our next New Moon occurs on December 2 (Dec 3, 00:22 GMT) conjoining Antares, Heart of the Scorpion. More to come then.
