The Lunar Month of
April 29, 2014 - May 28, 2014

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Lunar Cycle Overview

This New Moon produces an Annular Solar Eclipse amongst the stars of the Ram. The eclipse is not visible in most of the world, except in Antarctica. A partial eclipse can be seen in the southern Indian Ocean, the southern edge of Indonesia and all of Australia. The eclipse nests between Juno (asteroid of relationships and ways of interrelating) and Mercury (of personal communication and daily logistics), in near proximity to the Lunar South Node. This eclipse belongs to Saros Series 148, which began in the southern hemisphere in September of 1653, hence a south node eclipse. It then conjoined Juno and the stars Zaniah of Virgo and Turais of Argo Navis, and was also square to Uranus and Mars amongst the stars of the Zen Archer. The energetic of the 1653 eclipse is fundamental to and expresses through all eclipses in this Saros Series.

This eclipse period, the following six months, is especially influential in relationships, both of a personal nature and those of an international nature, in business and politics. This eclipse impels a fresh start in the outward expressions of our lives and roles in the world. It motivates us to redefine existing qualities and talents and to express them in new ways. It is especially favorable for self initiated action in relationships and communication, but may also contribute to social unrest in world relations, impelling right action to create radical change to break away from the conformity of the past in our relations and in how we interrelate, with concern for the long-term ramifications regarding how we use our personal power in the world.

Eclipses in Our Lives

Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave of experience. They offer a time to resynchronize our selves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness. Eclipses tend to bring about endings and new beginnings. How dramatic these changes can be and in what areas of our lives is a function of star alignments and other aspecting planets occurring at the time of the eclipse, and where they occur in our natal (and especially a relocated) chart. They can have a far greater effect in our lives when they conjoin other natal planets and personal points by ±5°. Eclipses bring emphasis to issues related to the chart area and planets involved. Eclipse influences generally last about six months, until the next eclipse occurs. Eclipse lunar cycles are ideal times to set new six-month goals to create personal change in our lives, not necessarily on the solar or lunar eclipse, but based upon the realizations we have throughout the eclipse lunar cycles.

Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play in the world, or how we articulate ourselves in life. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression, and addressing issues that keep us from doing so. They can invite a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.

This New Moon Eclipse conjoins Hamal of Aries; Schedar and Achird of Cassiopeia; Adhil of Andromeda; and Kaffaljidhma of Cetus, the brain of the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. These stars produce an intense energetic expressing through our New Moon and throughout this lunar month. They often motivate headstrong self-initiated action for attainment, sometimes of a righteous forceful nature, but also inviting us to recognize each of us are responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in—the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus. Some people will continue to blame our techno-bureaucratic monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in, while others will use this opportunity to responsibly create a new world paradigm.

Also occurring on the New Moon is the start of a very rare event, the compounded Mars, Ceres and Vesta synodic cycles, which will express over many years to follow. Earth and Saturn also begin a new 378-day synodic cycle in a very principle area of the heavens, producing an extra-significant Saturn cycle. This also occurs as the Sun aligns with the recently discovered minor planet, 2012 VP113, temporarily named Biden by astronomers due to its VP designation, or sometimes just referred to as VP. Like Sedna, 2012 VP113 lies in the far depths of our solar system, in the inner Oort Cloud. The overall alignment is 2012 VP113 – Sun – Earth – Saturn.

The key event occurring in this lunar cycle is the completion of the Mars retrograde, which occurs later in the lunar cycle (May 19-20), followed by Vesta and Ceres around the next New Moon. The three had been in a synchronous retrograde over the last couple of months, with Mars creating the Grand Square with Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto in the previous lunar cycle. Now, as Mars returns direct, we are impelled to engage in demonstrable action based upon the inner changes made throughout the past many-month period of reassessment occurring in many areas of our lives, mostly about getting clear and focused on how we are using our creative motive for what is truly nourishing and of importance in our lives and in our world. This motivation to action emerges from what was a building restrictive tension during the Mars retrograde and the potent Grand Square. Because of this, we may start to see wide-sweeping assertive action and mass movements to create inovative and revolutionary change in our world, and we are impelled to do the same in our individual lives. We can think of this energetic to be like a starship that had been in repairs and upgrades, now ready to engage at warp-speed.

A Yod forms on the Gibbous Moon (May 10-11) as the Moon conjoins stationing Mars (about to return direct), with Juno and Neptune as the base of the Yod focusing their allied energetic into the Moon-Mars apex. This further stimulates the building tension about to explode into dynamic action, especially from the Gibbous Moon, through the Full Moon (May 14), to Last Quarter Moon (May 21), as Mars returns direct just before. This highly-creative Yod motivates relationships and partnerships of all types to actualize visionary creativity based upon humanitarian principles into new solutions that ignite a new way forward.

These are but a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

The New Moon

Our April New Moon Eclipse in mid-sidereal Aries conjoins Hamal of Aries; the stars of Triangulum; Schedar and Achird of northern Cassiopeia; Adhil of Andromeda; Kaffaljidhma of Cetus; Azha of Eridanus; and Alpha Dorado in the very southern heavens.

Classically, Aries is figured as a reclining ram with its head looking back over itself, admiring his own golden fleece. The theme of Aries the Ram, whether articulated by Andromeda and the Royal Family or Jason and the Argonauts search for the golden fleece, is about the initiatory challenges that continually create obstacles and limitations across life's path. These obstacles, often created by our righteous attitudes of arrogance, create painful and repetitive lessons in the fires of life about that very thing—pride, arrogance, and greed—lessons that ultimately produce the alchemical honing of self. The journey through Aries awakens us from a self-consuming focus of need to one of selfless creative leadership.

Surrender & Play

The end of this phase is also the end of the entire Lunar Cycle. It leads into the next New Moon. The day before the New Moon is a time to surrender in order to allow the next Lunar Theme to sprout in its purity. Let go of all fears, worries, and self-judgment. Become empty. This is a great time to just play and have fun.
Characteristic just AFTER the New Moon.
Beginning the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Expressing a New Theme

A new theme emerges. A new idea, a new concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, a spontanious message, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen. A simple word or phrase may pop into your mind during this quite time describing the new lunar theme in a way that is unique to you, or perhaps a simple feeling or knowing will come over you. The ability to listen, honor and trust the inner is all that is required at this time. The ideal time to attune to your New Moon theme is exactly as the New Moon occurs, or at sunrise after the New Moon if the New Moon occurred during the night.

New Moon Star Chart

Sharatan, Mesartim and Hamal of Aries form the head of the ram. Hamal, Alpha Aries, is the butting head of the Ram, and also the shepherd teaching us how to lead. Hamal reveals that the struggles we face in the physical world are due to attempts to forcefully direct our lives or those of others. Such attempts are generally based upon a separatist, judgmental, and righteous me-against-them attitude, which often leads us deeper into the initiatory fires of life in which we may already find ourselves.

This area of the zodiak is predominately about the Royal Family, created by King Cepheus, Queen Cassiopeia, and their daughter the princess Andromeda, which all lie north of the ecliptic. Cetus lies just south of the ecliptic with its body submerged in the waters of Pisces and with its neck and head reaching up onto the shores of Aries.

The stars of the King and Queen often depict individuals in positions who are able to aid, are affluent and have authority. There are two primary expressions of the King and Queen. One is pompous, arrogant and pretentious, with an air of denial to matters deemed to be beneath them. The other is beneficent, generous, wise and compassionate, willing to aid others in lesser positions or who need assistance. Which is dominant, or both, depends upon one's level of life experience, emotional maturity and spiritual awareness.

In the story of Andromeda and Royal Family, Princess Andromeda was chained to the rocks by the sea to be devoured by Cetus the Sea Monster. This was due to Queen Cassiopeia's boastful and arrogant claim that her daughter was more beautiful than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea. Poseidon responded by sending Cetus to ravage the shores of Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. Cepheus was advised to sacrifice Andromena to Cetus as the only way to appease Poseidon. Andromeda, although inheriting this unfortunate sentence, has a far greater and fortuitous destiny awaiting her, as articulated by the beautiful Andromeda Galaxy, which emulates the ideal potential for our Galaxy. Perseus eventually kills Cetus and frees Andromeda. Perseus and Andromeda marry and they go on to create a city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world. He and Andromeda bore a family as well. Hercules was a descendent of Perseus and Andromeda.

Schedar, Alpha Cassiopeia, the head of the Queen, tightly conjoining Hamal, impels somewhat of a prideful and arrogant tone, often a head-trip of being lost in the glitter of power upon the human stage. Immature challenge and boast can express here with ramifications only accentuating the drama of the tightening jaws of fear-based collective consciousness (Cetus) and the butting response provided by the head of the Ram. Hamal and Schedar can express as power struggles amongst leaders or those who are headstrong, with lessons about how arrogance creates struggle in the material world; and how compassion opens the way through.

Perseus and Andromeda by Giorgio Vasari

Perseus and Andromeda by Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) Oil on Slate.

Vasari is known for his bibliographical book, "Lives of the Artists."

Achird of Cassiopeia asks us to realize that we create and perpetuate the very things that we perceive as trying to detour or devour us. Achird brings attention to the fact that the monsters and the entrapments in which we find ourselves become manifest by our own righteous and arrogant attitudes of self-importance.

Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The body of Cetus lies submerged in sidereal Pisces, but its neck and head reach up upon the shores of Aries, with its head lying in mid-sidereal Aries. The head of Cetus articulates the intelligence of Cetus, which is marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the brain of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is “human consciousness.” This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in—the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.

Slightly southwest of Kaffa is Delta Cetus and the potent Seyfert Galaxy M77 with the inner active nucleus 3C-71 Quasar Radio Source, which has a mass millions of times that of our Sun. M77 is the dominating member of a small physical group of galaxies. Delta Cetus and the M77 Seyfert Galaxy impel an outgoing expression driving dynamic personal action. It can also be considered the neurology of Cetus linking Mira Cetus (the dramatic breathing neck of Cetus) with Kaffaljidhma (the brain of Cetus).

The Triangulum Galaxy

The Triangulum Galaxy is located nearly 3 million light years from Earth. And, in a study that pushes the limits of observations currently possible from Earth, a team of NASA and European scientists recorded the "fingerprints" of mystery molecules in the Triangulum Galaxy, as well as the Andromeda Galaxy. Figuring out exactly which molecules are leaving these clues, known as "diffuse interstellar bands" (DIBs), is a puzzle that initially seemed straightforward but has gone unsolved for nearly a hundred years. The answer is expected to help explain how stars, planets and life form.

Azha of Eridanus provides a stopping point along the river of life where we can encounter the fear-instilling images or experiences that appear to be coming at us from outside of self but that are psychic projections of our greatest fears reflected to us by the brain of collective consciousness. Azha impels us to pause to consider who and what creates the intelligence of ole’ Cetus, to reverse our perspective from outside of self to inside of self, to become self-responsible for our journeys through life.

Azha of Eridanus, Kaffaljidhma of Cetus, and Achid of Cassiopeia all conjoin in mid-sidereal Aries and mark the “initiation by fire” point in Aries.

Triangulum teaches us to see beyond the judgments of fear-based dualistic mind and the dramatics it produces. Here is the statement "let thine eye become single"--to see from unity consciousness, which in turn makes it possible to rise above and beyond the "controlling verses being controlled" mentality and its subsequent entrapment.

Far below the entire scene of the Royal Family, deep in southern sky, lies Alpha Dorado, of the gold fish—embodiment of the illumined soul. Hence the confusion about our true riches—why we fight over the mineral gold rather than delve deep within for the golden soul. The head of the goldfish marks the southern pole of the ecliptic—dome of the soul.

Our New Moon eclipse inspires us to recognize, perhaps through a reflection of events, conditions or people in our lives, that any issues we have with them are made manifest by our inner resonance and subsequent attitudes we hold. It inspires us to relinquish those attitudes that keep us segregated into a me-against-the-world mentality. It impels self-initiated assertive action to change or to become more than we are, or to birth into a new expression in our lives, but not through the use of force, but by embracing our current conditions and struggles in the fires of life. As the saying goes, the way is through.

The Mars-Vesta, Mars-Ceres and Vesta-Ceres Synods

The Mars-Vesta synod occurs a day before the New Moon, on April 28. The Mars-Ceres synod occurs about six hours after the New Moon, and the Vesta-Ceres synod occurs about a day after the New Moon. These synods all synthesize as one compounded theme and express through the three synodic cycles as they unfold in their unique ways. This synthesis also accentuates the theme of this eclipse and of Mars returning direct and our motivation to engage into action. The Mars-Vesta synodic cycle is 4 years. The Mars-Ceres is 2.87 years. The Vesta-Ceres cycle is 15.83 years.

Mars by NASA

Mars is an expressive and initiating creative force. Mars is of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self reliance, and victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, or when poorly placed in a chart, Mars can express as the awry or ballistic use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (sacrum, base chakra, adrenals sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people—due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life; hence often dubbed the planet of war. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality / base chakra of self—alienating it even more.
More about Mars.

Due to her size and spherical shape, Ceres was reclassified as a “dwarf planet” in Aug 2006, along with Pluto and Eris—appropriately honoring Ceres to be the mother of the asteroids; and now places a “planet” in the orbital location where a planet should lie—in this case along with her many children.

Ceres, the mother of the main asteroids, brings awareness to how we nurture and to that which is truly nurturing to us. Ceres embodies mothering and agricultural qualities and brings attention to our relation with the Earth, the land, agriculture, the environment and the seasons. Due to Ceres association with the land and the environment, Ceres is of particular interest in charts associated with environmental changes or events. Ceres reveals our ability to be in universal flow—the unification of giving and receiving as one flow of energy through ourselves. Ceres asks for acknowledgment of our inner needs, to have self love and self worth. Ceres is of concern and caring for others as well as for the Earth. Ceres is associated with fertility, the womb and stomach.

Potential Ceres issues are: fear of abundance, lack and material struggle; low self esteem; unworthiness; abandonment / rejection issues expressing as attachment to people and things, manipulation of loved ones, over-attachment to siblings, possessiveness, and control of siblings or of one’s creations; mother-child complexes; and barrenness. More about Ceres.

Vesta Landslides
NASA's Dawn spacecraft obtained this image of the giant asteroid Vesta with its framing camera on Aug. 26, 2011. This image was taken through the camera's clear filter. The detail in this image shows a steep scarp with landslides and vertical craters in the scarp wall.

Vesta is the asteroid of Focus, Dedication & Commitment; of physical, emotional, and mental clarity; and of self-respect. Vesta brings a capacity to be pure within self at all levels for the expression of one’s highest potential and true Essence. Vesta is of strength, purity, and perfection—of total dedication to purpose. Vesta brings attention to that which is of true importance to us and will ignite and burn away that which is not so we can become clear. Vesta is keeper of the sacred flame within self. Vesta asks us to examine our inner values, our passion in life, to become clear on it, and to use our creativity to keep that fire alive.

Potential Vesta issues are: scatteredness, with an inability to focus, commit or carry through; and avoidance of one’s true purpose. Vesta can express as denials to address the mental, emotional and physical purification to support being a pure bio-logical vessel for the expression of Spirit—the requirements to express our true soul intent and purpose. This can manifest as fear of commitment, fear of sex and intimacy in all of its forms, and an invalidation of the emotional and physical aspects of self.

Vesta was discovered on 29 March 1807 by the German physician Heinrich Wilhelm Matthaus Olbers (1758-1840), He named the asteroid for the Roman goddess of virtue at the suggestion of Carl Friedrich Gauss. Vesta was near the Super Galactic Center, the spiritual mother center of the Heavens, in sidereal Virgo—a placement quite fitting to Vesta’s relationship to the Virgin principle.

In mythical language, Vesta is the revered goddess of the Vestal Virgins, the daughter of Rhea and Saturn, the eldest sister of Jupiter, and is keeper of the sacred fire on Mt. Olympus—meaning keeper of the eternal flame (truth) of the soul within self. Fire, the element of Vesta, is purifying for the soul—serving to enlighten and enliven. Vesta and the Vestal Virgins were highly valued and trusted for speaking the truth. They kept and protected all important documents and records. Vesta is also the Roman goddess of the hearth, home and family. More about Vesta.

Heliocentric Star Chart Movie showing the Earth, Mars, Haumea, Ceres and Vesta Synods. The Earth-Ceres and Earth-Vesta Synods occur leading into the April Grand Square. The compounded Mars-Ceres, Mars-Vesta and Ceres-Vesta synods occur as we emerge from the Grand Square and surrounding the New Moon Solar Eclipse of April 29. These latter synods occur in early sidereal Libra. (Spica marks the sidereal Virgo-Libra cusp.) Also shown is the Earth-Saturn synod occurring on May 10.

The Giant Nebula NGC 3603 by The European Southern Observatory

Theta Carina NGC3603-ESO The European Southern Observatory (ESO) released a magnificent VLT image of the giant stellar nursery surrounding NGC 3603 (conjoining Theta Carina), in which stars are continuously being born. Embedded in this scenic nebula is one of the most luminous and most compact clusters of young, massive stars in our Milky Way, which therefore serves as an excellent “local” analogue of very active star-forming regions in other galaxies. The cluster also hosts the most massive star to be “weighed” so far.

Stars setting the theme for this compounded synod and ensuing cycles are those in early sidereal Libra, slightly past Archturus and Spica (the location of the Earth-Vesta-Ceres synods occurring in the previous lunar cycle). These stars include Izar of Bootes; Dhanab al Shuja on the tail of the Hydra; the Centaurus X-3 Neutron Star along with Rho, Delta and Omi Centaurus; and Vathorz (Theta) Carina of Argo Navis. Also of influence is Miaplacidus, Beta Carina of Argo Navis.

Theta Carina "Vathorz Posterior" (of old Norse-Latin origin), means "Succeeding One of the Waterline" referring to the Galactic Equator upon which the Argo sails. Theta Carina lies in the Theta Carina Cluster, a bright open cluster of about 60 stars. The Theta Carina Cluster is sometimes referred to as the Southern Pleiades. Slightly north of Theta Carina is a giant stellar nursery surrounding the nebula NGC 3603, one of most compact clusters of young, massive stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.

Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster are specifically about establishing the proper environment for a pure birth in consciousness and of a soul into incarnate form. They are of knowledge, secrets, record keeping, writing, and the articulation of intelligence regarding these environmental and evolutionary matters.

Theta Carina is a part of the Diamond Cross of Argo Navis, formed and headed by the prominent star Miaplacidus (Beta), along with Theta, Upsilon and Omega Carina. It, like the Southern Cross, does not have a central star in the center, thus forming a diamond more so than a cross. You must be south of 20° north latitude on Earth to see it. The Diamond forms the keel and hold of the Argo. These stars inspire designing and establishing the structural stability in our lives that support our evolutionary fulfillment. The Diamond also inspires mapping for special places, sites, centers, as well as the proper timing for this effort.

The Giant Nebula NGC 3603

The Giant Nebula, NGC 3603

Thousands of sparkling young stars nestled within the giant nebula NGC 3603. This stellar "jewel box" is one of the most massive young star clusters in the Milky Way Galaxy. NGC 3603 is a prominent star-forming region in the Carina spiral arm of the Milky Way, about 20,000 light-years away. This image shows a young star cluster surrounded by a vast region of dust and gas. The image reveals stages in the life cycle of stars. The nebula was first discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1834. The image spans roughly 17 light-years. Image Credit NASA Hubble

Miaplacidus, Beta Carina of Argo Navis, enters the ecliptic a couple of degrees further in sidereal Libra, but imparts significant influence to this area of the zodiak. Miaplacidus is the second most important star of the Argo, after Canopus. "Mia" is of greater universal flowing waters of Source and "Placidus" is of grid-navigational-mapping. Miaplacidus involves the navigational mapping of cosmic evolutionary currents—evolutionary intelligence and how it expresses in time and space. Miaplacidus is of Astronomical-Earthgrid mapping, navigation, inner-dimensional travel, and related art-sciences and environments that support our greater evolutionary journeys in life. Living at or traveling to the right locations at the proper times in our lives is of significance to be in proper (space-time) harmony. The purpose of sacred geometry, naturally tuned architecture, and the art-sciences involving harmonics and resonance are all of significance here—many of the art-sciences that have been obscured, suppressed or lost to humanity—including the integrated knowledge of astronomy and astrology and its application in cartographical mapping on the Earth in space and time.

As Miaplacidus inspires action, movement, and the administration of evolutionary navigational matters, Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster, working with Miaplacidus, is the library of knowledge regarding such matters.

Miaplacidus, and the stars of Carina's Diamond inspire us to find and ensure a harmonious environment in space and time (where to be when) for the pursuit of our life purpose and our greater evolutionary fulfillment and wellbeing.

Centaurs X-3 lies exactly on the galactic equator, just above the Theta Carina open star cluster of Argo Navis. Cen X-3 adds to the theme of Theta Carina and contributes significantly to the theme of early sidereal Libra and the Diamond of the Argo—accessing galactic currents that provide a greater evolutionary context for evolving souls that transcend this mere lifetime. The attractive force encountered here transcends the mere present moment.

Here we may find unique events or portals occurring in space and time that can change our evolutionary experience and destiny if we are willing to leap into an abyss. Opportunities presented here allow us to walk away from the mundane, from what is established in our lives, from what seems to make sense to onlookers. They require a leap into the void with the knowing there are subtle but greater soul-level currents that can carry us to our greater fulfillment. Learning to move in intimate trust and harmony with these forces is a key dynamic of this part of the zodiak.

Centaurs X-3 and Theta Carina also conjoin Izar, Epsilon of Boötes, at the waist or middle of Boötes. Boötes is protector who stands over the Virgin as she is giving birth, while holding off authoritarian global powers wishing to manipulate evolutionary affairs, while at the same time creating and ensuring a proper energy environment for a safe and pure birth / and subsequent capacity for ascension out of incarnational entrapment. Izar impels us to become perfectly centered to take a leap of faith through a portal that can lead to a place of far greater beauty and fulfillment than we had known before.

This area of the heavens expressing through early sidereal Libra is about mutual intimate support and ensuring proper environmental conditions exist for the safe birth evolutionary fulfillment of souls and all life on Earth, especially with consideration for generations to come. Expressing through Vesta, this impels us to shift our focus, dedication and commitment toward this directive. With Ceres, it impels this directive in areas of agriculture, nutrition and other environmental areas. With Mars, this impels us to use our creative power and fundamental resources, both personal and global, toward this purpose. This rare synthesis of the Mars, Vesta and Ceres synods impels us to integrate and cohere these three energetics as one directed expression. More about this can be read in the Mars-Vesta-Ceres Synchronous Retrogrades section of the March 1, 2014 Lunar Planner. The ramifications of making this essential and crucial turning extends far into the future, effecting all life on Earth. Also consider the progression of synods that occurred before the April Grand Square, presented throughout the previous Lunar Planner, as they all contribute to our motivation to action as Mars completes its retrograde later in this lunar cycle.

Mercury's October 2014 Retrograde and the current Mars-Ceres-Vesta Synchronous Retrogrades

This movie below shows the path of Mercury's retrograde later this year. Notice it occurs in the exact same area of the heavens as the Mars-Ceres-Vesta synchronous retrogrades. The Earth-Mercury-Sun conjunction also occurs at the same location as the Mars-Ceres-Vesta conjunctions conjoining Spica and Archturus, which is also the location of the Earth-Ceres and Earth-Vesta synods. Notice that the start of Mercury's retrograde, on October 4, occurs at the exact location of the Ceres retrograde station, which occurred on February 27; and that Mercury direct station occurs at the exact location of the Vesta direct station, which occurs on May 27. (Hint: leave the movie paused and drag the progress bar to play the movie slower by hand.) In addition, notice that the Sun-Venus conjunction (Earth-Sun-Venus alignment) occurs at the time of Mercury's direct station on October 25, and that the conjunction occurs at the location where Mercury began its retrograde. All of this is a wonderful revelation of the synchronicity of our solar system's cycles—creating our guiding evolutionary currents—the music of the spheres.

The Mercury retrograde occurring in October and new Mercury synodic cycle ensuing then, will provide a time to integrate the changes we are making now, regarding the Ceres, Vesta, Mars and Haumea themes, into our intellectual process and into the logistics of our daily lives. It is sort of when we will come to wrap our heads around what now may have been more of an energetic primordial process.

Geocentric Star Chart Movie showing Mercury's retrograde path later in 2014, occurring at the same location as Mars-Ceres-Vesta synchronous retrogrades and Earth-Ceres-Vesta synods occurring earlier in 2014. (You can leave the movie paused and drag the progress bar to play the movie slower, at the rate you choose.)

Releasing Restricting Patterns

Just prior to the first Crescent Moon, we can realize the opportunity for growth that the Lunar Cycle has to offer. What surfaces now is: How I would have done this in the past, the old or established ways, based on past experience. Here we have the opportunity to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns, much like sluffing off the protective sheath of a seed now beginning to sprout, as that sheath would only limit the unfoldment of the new theme and our own growth. The Crescent Moon marks the time when the theme would like to grow into a more expansive form. By consciously honoring, accepting in love, and letting go of our old concepts, we allow ourselves to move forth into the expansive growing phase of the Lunar Cycle.

Expanding upon the Theme

This is a time when the currently held vision begins to expand into a greater form. New possibilities of unfoldment would like to grow—possibilities not realized before. This 3 1/2 day Growng Phase is a time of engaging our creativity and integrating it with the original theme, identifying its unique and full potential. It is a time of allowing a realistic and achievable plan of action to evolve, a time of inspiration, and a time to have faith in ours creative process.

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Crescent Moon occurs on May 2-3 in early sidereal Gemini. Conjoining stars include Saiph of Orion; Wezn and the Machine X-Ray Source PKS 0548-322, both of Columba, the Dove; and the Quasar 3C147 of Auriga.

The Orion Nebula

Saiph, Kappa Orion, enters the ecliptic a bit before Betelgeuse. Saiph marks the right leg of Orion and inspires enterprising and dynamic action to create opportunistic solution through daily activity in the world of commerce and communication. All of these stars impel responsive and resourceful action through mutual cooperation and communication.

The Machine conjoins Saiph, the right leg of Orion; Wezn, Beta Columba; and the northern Quasar 3C147 of Auriga. These entries resides at ~2° sidereal Gemini, directly opposite our Galactic Centre.

The Machine is a high-energy dynamic x-ray source, a BL Lacertae type object, that emits energy through a wide band of the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to gamma-rays but with an almost complete absence of emissions in the optical band. Appropriately named, the Machine articulates the essence of the human cognitive mind, the intellect, which processes logistical related matters for humankind, the bio-logical process itself—in contrast to Galactic Center's essence, that of cosmic mind. As the genesis point of the human mind, the Machine's intense dynamic core excites high-mental creative communication. Conjoining Quasar 3C147, which marks the head of Auriga the Charioteer, inspires unconventional thought amongst colleagues, both of which produce new ideas that can move us forward into a fulfilling and prosperous future, articulated by Wezn of Columba, the Dove. Our modern Columba is shortened form Columba Noachi, “Noah’s dove,” articulating a sign that the waters of the Great Flood were receding.

The first few degrees of sidereal Gemini embody the seed of Gemini. It is of education, schools, thoughts, ideas, writings, publications, communication, publicity, teachers and teachings, guides, travel and commerce, and the exchange of goods, services and information—where insight and perception are codified into a coherent and communicable form for the masses. It impels expression and action in these areas and the development of enterprising ideas.

Our Crescent Moon expands our New Moon theme by inspiring highly creative enterprising thought and communication amongst colleagues and friends that serve all of humanity. It invites us to think beyond the conventional conflicts and paradoxes in life to realize alternative solutions that lead us beyond our existing challenges in life.

External Stimulus

Just before first-quarter moon, we draw an external stimulus to ourselves. This is some event outside of self occurring in our lives or in the world that impels a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This is a time when any fears or doubts hidden within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the I can’ts and the reasons why not is to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth. Many people drop the ball at this point in the lunar cycle. Don't be one.

Beginning the Flowering Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Initiate Action

Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about. The inspiration is now gone, it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Remember, the flower that is about to burst forth from the bud is not yet visible. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. The creative tension brought forth by the external stimulus now shifts into opportunity and unfoldment. This is a time for practical application of your talents. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. What you are putting together now is the groundwork for the manifestation of the theme. Simply, this phase is a time to work.

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on May 6-7 in sidereal Cancer. The Moon conjoins Dubhe of Ursa Major; Acubens of Cancer; Zeta Hydra and the Quasar 3C206 of Hydra; and Al Minkhir al-Asad (Kappa) Leo.

The Great Bear, Ursa Major, lies north of the Scarab (Crab) and the Lion. Ursa Major extends west over sidereal Cancer, and slightly east just into the cusp of sidereal Virgo. Ursa Major’s wide variety of stars fall into the ecliptic throughout these two signs, Leo and Cancer. The Stars of the Great Bear are associated with the global scene and world powers. They reveal the diverse dynamic of these ruling forces in general and also provide lessons for all of humanity.

Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak, (Beta) of Ursa Major, expressing through later Cancer, are the pointers to Earth’s current North Star, Polaris of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor. They bring attention to caring for the young and impel us to seek a greater vision for future generations to come.

Dubhe, the principal star in this area of the heavens, impels us to pursue a greater vision beyond the accepted political-religious dogmas of the human world that keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe asks us to do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for the unfoldment of our lives—for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek. Dubhe asks us to emerge from the collective dogmas and our own personal belief structures and limiting life patterns that keep us bound in life scenarios that are less than those we truly want. Dubhe supports us to strive for a new and better future rather than merely staying reactive to the limitations we have already created and reinforce with our existing beliefs.

Cancer, commonly the crab today, is also the Egyptian Scarabaeus, an image that articulates the theme of humanity's emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion and its reawakening back to light. The Scarab is an appropriate mythical figure here because the beetle emerges from its snuggle in its own dung, where it matures. This theme also applies to our individual emergence from the family nest or from the collective consciousness that we co-create. The Scarab is a symbol of regeneration, transformation and re-birth, of being self-created, or self-made, to rise from itself—hence humanity's association with the beetle’s emergence.

Cancer and Hydra's Head Star Chart

Acubens, Alpha Cancer lies next to the open star cluster M67, composed of about 500 stars, one of oldest (~10 billion years). Acubens and M67 expresses as a long established heritage, lineage, inheritance, birthright, or something passed down through generations. Acubens can also articulate our entrapment in dogma. This can be the current political / religious beliefs of the times, as well as that created by our personal belief structures—the ideas we have about our lives and experiences we have in our lives—generally inherited. Acubens indicates a tenacious hold and stubborn resistance to release the patterns we hold that keep us entrapped in our limiting life scenarios.

Zeta Hydra lies immediately south of Acubens. Delta through Zeta Hydra and Pulsar CP0834 (which conjoins Gianfar of Draco, the poisoned place) create Hydra's head. Zeta Hydra and surrounding stars indicate a multifarious undermining source of destruction (every time Hercules took off one the Hydra's heads, it immediately grew another). The conjunction of Acubens and Zeta Hydra reveals that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures.

Associated Quasar 3C206 of Hydra, one of the brightest & closest quasars, suggest that although our dogmatic beliefs can take rather strange and unexplainable forms, they are not outside the realm of our own creation. They are however laser-like in their power; and when overcoming the symptom of one underlying pattern, that pattern can emerge again merely in another symptomatic form. The underlying patterns must be addressed not just their symptoms. Quasar 3C206 reminds us to not be naïve to the powerful momentum of our beliefs and the undermining behavioral patterns they can create. This quasar tells us to not turn our backs on that momentum, to know it may take more than one attempt to overcome our dogma's hideous tenacity.

These conjoining stars indicate that to overcome the undermining and relentless manifestations created by our very sticky behavioral patterns requires perseverance to destroy (cut off heads of Hydra) the very beliefs we hold that crystallize that which repetitively undermine achieving our greater fulfillment.

Our First Quarter Moon's stimulus to action challenges us to do all we can to achieve a greater vision for the evolutionary freedom and fulfillment that we seek—freedom from the dogmas, both collective and personal, that keep us entrapped in our patterns of the past and in an old world paradigm. On the global scene, this can stimulate action toward governments by the people to evolve a new vision that is truly nurturing to the people and that supports their greater freedom and wellbeing rather than tenaciously adhering to methods of government that serve special interests and clandestine plans to control and manipulate the masses.

The Sun & 2012 VP113 (Biden)& Saturn's New Synodic Cycle

The Sun conjoins the recently discovered minor planet 2012 VP113 on May 10, temporarily named Biden by astronomers due to its VP designation, or sometimes just referred to as VP. Like Sedna, 2012 VP113 lies in the far depths of our solar system, in the inner Oort Cloud. It also currently lies in the same area of the heavens, shown in the New Moon star chart above. 2012 VP113 will be given a formal name at some future date (1). Events, insights, feelings occurring on May 10 may bring insight into the astrological nature of 2012 VP113. However, this is compounded by the Saturn synod occurring on the same day, presented below. Here is my initial web page on 2012 VP113, with orbital diagrams, a discovery star chart, and links to more information by its discoverers, astronomers Chadwick Trujillo and Scott Sheppard.

Sun - 2012 VP113 conjunction: May 10, 15:13 UT (8:13 AM MST)
Sun – Saturn opposition: May 10, 18:29 UT (11:29 AM MST)
Overall alignment: 2012 VP113 – Sun – Earth - Saturn

1) Note from
There are several stages before a proposed name for a Dwarf Planet is accepted:

• When a body is initially sighted it is given a provisional name, which is later superseded by a permanent numerical designation once its orbit has been well determined.

• The discovery team suggests a suitable name to the two relevant IAU groups — the working groups for Small Body Nomenclature (CSBN) and Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN) — who together are responsible for naming dwarf planets. The name is intended to reflect the characteristics of the body itself, and be an appropriate moniker derived from mythology. Objects, including dwarf planets, far beyond the orbit of Neptune are expected to be given the name of a deity or figure related to creation; for example Makemake, the Polynesian creator of humanity and god of fertility, and Haumea, the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and childbirth.

• The IAU finally decides on the assignment of the name, priority given to the ones proposed by the discoverers. Dwarf planets may not share a name with any other small Solar System bodies.

Saturn's New Synodic Cycle

The Earth-Saturn synod (2012 VP113-Sun-Earth-Saturn alignment) occurs on May 10, in the midst of Saturn's retrograde, initiating a new 378-day Saturn Synodic Cycle. This cycle will fully engage when Saturn completes its retrograde on July 20, 2014.

Saturn is of structure, form and time. Saturn’s force tends to solidify and concretize, to halt that which is moving. Saturn is slow and methodical. It imparts a need to be responsible, accountable, dependable and stable. Saturn also forces us to confront our fears and address our karmic issues.

Saturn, in its clear and evolved expression, provides the ability to create a solid foundation and stable form. It brings the capacity for concentration and moderation and the ability to apply past principles and knowledge constructively. Saturn instills confidence in one’s knowledge; and honors family and soul heritage.

Saturn in its diminished expression can be controlling, wanting to own others and dictate behavior for them. It can be oppressive, righteous and jealous; fearful of casual intimacy, touching and embracing, which instead must be controlled. It can produce an inability to be self-responsible and own up to life experience as being one’s own creation; thus resulting in victim consciousness where we blame life or others for our life experience. It can express a denial or avoidance of genetic and family heritage, such as fear or resistance use one’s birth or family name. It can produce an inability to ground, concretize and structure life; or produce difficulty with physical things, as well as well as with structure, organizations, legalities, and bureaucracies.

Saturn when acute or hyper can be obsessive, especially with the past, dogma, and belief structures. It is rigid, inflexible and can result in paralysis, broken bones, and physical deformations. It can be an inflictor of bondage, pain and injustices.

Primary associated bio-energy centers: Brain centers: Inherent Mental—brain stem and mid-brain. Skeletal structure, the hips, teeth, nails and hair—all calcium based organs.

Saturn Synod Libra Star Chart

This particular cycle is extra significant because Saturn is near its exalted location in the ecliptic and it involves two principal Saturn-related stars. Saturn's exaltation conjoins Zubenelgenubi of Libra. The Synod conjoins Zubeneschamali of Libra. Additional stars setting the theme of this cycle include Beta, Kappa and Rho of Serpens, which form the head of the Serpent reaching for the Northern Crown; Epsilon and Iota of the Northern Crown; and in the southern heavens, Eta Centaurus; and Myla (Alpha) and Beta Musca.

Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali (Alpha and Beta Libra) form the balance or scales of Libra in modern illustrations. They respectively lie at ~20° and ~24° Libra. These two stars are also the "Chelae of the Scorpion," extending from the sign of Scorpio and the Scorpion's head back into Libra, as rendered by Johannes Kepler in his wood carving showing Ophiuchus standing over the Scorpion, with the Serpent he holds reaching for the Northern Crown, which lies north over the Chelae. With the modern rendering of the supine Virgin, we can see the claws of the Scorpion reaching toward the feet of the Virgin, in mid-sidereal Libra. The overall mythical image here is of the Virgin giving birth, with the Scorpion's claws reaching up to receive this birth. This image articulates the birthing of the soul into the reincarnational process of soul growth through the balance of experience.

This mythical articulation was destroyed in recent (Chaldean / Roman) times: The Scorpion’s Chelae and the Virgin's legs had both been severed from our stellar mythos, and so too its profound significance regarding the reincarnational process of soul growth.

This is why Libra is considered to be the scales of justice—implying the need to experience both sides (a balance) of human experience in order to gain self-mastery as an incarnating soul. It does not imply the guilt trip laden idea of paying for misdeeds deemed by a governing church-state that pretends to stand between an incarnate soul and God—a ploy used in ancient times to control and manipulate the masses. Nor does it refer to paying for past deeds done in a prior incarnation. Here, in the reincarnational clutches of the Scorpion, the incarnating soul learns self-responsibility and self-mastery, to claim the true freedom that the scales of Libra stand for, by choice, by choosing to move from the patterns and scenarios of the past and to participate in a new way, to step into a new way of being, upon a new path of experience—in essence to complete one's destiny or incarnational purpose of soul growth.

This is the essence of this new Saturn synodic cycle—our responsibility to change our patterns of the past by deliberately choosing to do things differently, to choose a new road forward. This may become quite significant throughout this Saturn cycle ahead.

Ophiuchus by Johannes Kepler

Further articulating this theme is the neck and head of the serpent, held in the hand of Ophiuchus, reaching for the Northern Crown, which lies north of the Scorpion’s chelae; and the stars of the Centaur. Ophiuchus, standing over the Scorpion, is the demonstrable exemplar of one who has achieved this personal mastery and evolutionary freedom. He, holding the serpent reaching (or pointing) to the Northern Crown, indicates the ideal, the goal to ultimately free self from entrapment in the clutches of the Scorpion. The benevolent Centaur, south of the ecliptic, teaches the right way to live to attain this evolutionary freedom.

The minor constellation in the southern heavens, Musca (a pesky fly), confusingly became the modern name that replaced the more appropriate Apis (the Bee), a constellation just south of the Centaur and the Southern Cross (embodiment of soul's original cardinality or pure intent) lying along the galactic equator. Alpha and Beta Apis conjoin the north chelae of the Scorpion (or scale of Libra). Bees are guides for the soul. Bees are quite industrious and cooperative. They play a key role in the (agricultural) sustainment and nourishment of life through pollination. They also are master navigators, riding upon natural geomagnetic currents. They can also see into the ultraviolet spectrum. Bees are about the environment, places of residence and community, and of the importance in creating a healthy environment in attunement with the natural forces of life. Apis mythologically articulates another aspect about the soul's navigational journey to freedom.

Pushing Through

The latter part of the Flowering Phase, leading into the Pollinating Phase, requires perseverance to push through, to push open. Consistent application of your energies is a demonstration of your inner commitment to self. You are pushing through past limitations of self into a new level of self-confidence and integrating your greater potential with personal will. The flower bursts open on the Gibbous Moon.

Attraction & Involvement

This phase brings a strong desire to connect and involve with others. The outer and opposite is alluring. It is a time of exploration and involvement with others. Flowers not only blossom to reveal their beauty, but their functional purpose is to provide the pollination required to bear fruit. This interaction brings clarity of purpose and builds into the enthusiastic energy required for fulfiment. Communication and intermixing of energies is highlighted. The purpose is to be of value to each other, stimulating creativity. Share your vision and direction, what you have been working on. The 3 1/2-day Pollinating Phase is a social time, which will culminate on the Full Moon.

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

©2014 Nick Anthony Fiorenza

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on May 10-11 in sidereal Virgo, just a few degrees from stationing Mars. A Yod also forms from Neptune and Juno to Mars, triggered by the Moon-Mars conjunction, which occurs just a few hours after the Gibbous phase change. Venus also is opposite Mars and Mercury is trine Mars. The Gibbous Moon's placement is also the location of the Juno-Solar Eclipse of September 1653 that began the Saros Series to which our current Solar Eclipse belongs. The energetic of the 1653 eclipse is fundamental to and expresses through all eclipses in this Saros Series, and also accentuates the energetic of this Gibbous Moon and the focus to the Moon-stationing Mars conjunction.

The Moon conjoins Zaniah of Virgo; Turais Carina and Phi Velorum of Argo Navis; and Beta Coma Berenices. Stationing Mars conjoins Vindemiatrix and Porrima of Virgo, which is also the exalted location for Mercury; and Diadem (Alpha) Coma Berenices.

Zaniah, Eta Virgo, is an ecliptical star, less than 2° north in ecliptical latitude. Zaniah is also the Chinese "Left-hand Maintainer of Law" (Allen). Zaniah inspires the "right use of will" directed by soul-level impulses and unadulterated by personality or egoic-level influences. Zaniah impels right action and participation in the here and now, moment-by-moment. Zaniah embodies the essence of the Virgin’s purity—to become a clear vessel and to know right action. Zaniah imparts a feminine quality.

Conjoining Zaniah in the northern heavens is Beta Coma Berenices. Coma Berenices (Berenice’s hair) stands alone in this area of the heavens, slightly north of and over early sidereal Virgo. The stars forming Coma Berenices are not necessarily connected to any surrounding constellations other than being associated with Virgo. This makes sense when we realize that the North Galactic Pole (NGP) resides in Coma (5° sidereal Virgo), as does our Super Galactic Center (SGC) (~7° sidereal Virgo). Coma Berenices is a recent name, but Diadem, the Alpha Star of Coma, articulates the essence of this grouping of stars.

Diadem lies just north of the Virgin's head. Diadem is the jeweled crown above Virgin's head. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's telepathic and clairvoyant capacities, and for their communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Diadem and the stars of Coma radiate the high spiritual essence of the Super Galactic Center, and impel us to attune to our spiritual / soul guidance.

Beta Coma Berenices, conjoining Zaniah, emphasizes our need to apply personal will according to our spiritual / soul guidance, which expresses through the magnetic forces of nature, in the messages provided by the world around us. Beta of Coma impels the administration and application of our spiritual guidance in our physical lives.

Conjoining Zaniah in the southern heavens is Turais Carina and Phi Velorum, both of Argo Navis, which lie along the galactic equator, and thus are more associated with our longer-term soul-level sojourn and evolutionary course. Turais (Aspidiske) of the Argo is a rather rare white supergiant star that shines with a luminosity of 4900 times our Sun, with a radius estimated to be about 40 times that of our Sun. "This Arabian name has led to some confusion regarding the nature of this star, even confused to be part of Puppis the stern of the Argo, but it lies along the gunwale in Carina, the hull of the Argo, under Velorum the sail." (Allen)

NGC 3201, a Globular Cluster in Vela

NGC 3201 is a Globular Cluster of stars in Vela, the Sail of the Argo

Phi Velorum and the adjoining Pulsar P 0950 reside exactly on the Galactic Equator in the Sail (Velorum) of the Argo. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, and in this case, inspiring our attunement to the evolutionary currents beyond our incarnational moment, those of the greater evolutionary process itself. P-0950 has a pulse rate of 1.436551 seconds, which is a frequency of 0.696111729 Hz. Raised a few octaves, this translates to an Alpha brain wave frequency of 11.1377...Hz; and this translates both to infrared and violet wavelengths in the light spectrum. Thus, P-0950 links energy currents occurring in the spiritual realm (crown chakra) with the very root / earth primordial response (Earth Chakra—about a foot below our feet). This pulsar reminds us that to receive our spiritual guidance we must be grounded—like any good antenna.

Galactic Turais and Phi Velorum puts ecliptical Zaniah's "right use of will" into a greater evolutionary context, one with cosmic ramifications that extend throughout spacetime. Our acts of will are not isolated, cut off and limited to the moment itself, but extend into the past-future time-stream of the soul influencing the continuous cosmic currents in soul's greater evolutionary journey in ways that are unseen in the action moment.

Turais asks us to extend our awareness into this time-stream, while Zaniah inspires clear action in the moment from soul's and nature's guiding influence. Thus each action moment is one punctual droplet of many composing a continuous time-stream that formulates the path or wave upon which soul travels. Turais invites us to recognize our actions extend into and influence not only the nature of our own lives, but also the lives of others, effecting the meandering currents in an ocean of being. They set up resonances in spacetime that define the nature of experiences yet to come for our selves and in the evolutionary journey of all involved.

Also worth mentioning is Quasar 3C273 of Virgo, which conjoins Turais and Phi Velorum. Quasar 3C273 lies just above Zaniah and Porrima by 2 degrees in latitude and below Vindemiatrix by about 11 degrees. It is the brightest of the quasars visually at ~12.9 magnitude, although the optical range of the electromagnetic spectrum is not what defines a quasar's influence.

Quasars are not only visible objects, but they emit a wide band of photons (light particles) in the electromagnetic spectrum, from the infrared up through human's visible range of light, through the ultra-violet (UV), the gamma rays range, and into the radio range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their multi-spectral emanations tend to stimulate an awareness that extends beyond or pierces our rather narrow band of visual perception, thereby offering new possibilities of conceptual thought. They can express as images or non-conforming forms that can draw us into a transcendent perceptual exploration, which then motivates new behavior or a new expression fitting to our expanded awareness. In general, we might think of quasars as providing stimulus for alternative creative conception and expression.

Quasar 3C273 principally expresses through Zaniah (right use of will), Porrima (fore-vision), and Vindemiatrix (attentiveness to timing), augmenting their qualities. This synthesis creates a perceptual time-warp that embraces more of spacetime than the current moment, in essence stretching our perception to embrace past-future time with the capacity to sense our distant past, and to see forward (as previews or fore-visions) to potentialities already precipitating in spacetime but which we have not yet arrived to in time. This Quasar's emanations can activate imagery and phenomena in the natural world—such as through birds flying or in other animal behavior, through sounds or sights in the world, through synchronicities in meetings with people and events, or through any other natural phenomena occurring in our daily lives.

We must be perceptually attentive to such imagery or messages and have implicit trust to act upon our impulses or the for-visions we see so we can meet opportunities already precipitating into manifestation that we may otherwise miss. The purpose of future vision or telepathic awareness is so we initiate action beforehand, in present time, to ensure that we meet or are prepared for the precipitating events in timely fashion.

Our Gibbous Moon brings our attention to the long-term ramifications of our present actions, and the importance of taking right action in response to the messages occurring in the natural world around us, trusting that those impulses have reasons that may not be presently visible, but that determine our future to come. This is especially important as Mars returns direct in another several days.

Mars Station

Vindemiatrix and Porrima mark the centre of sidereal Virgo and embody the essence of sidereal Virgo—the location of stationing Mars. This is also the exalted seat of our winged messenger Mercury, significantly adding perspective and understanding to the nature of the stars at this ecliptical longitude. Mercury is the vessel by which these stars function in their highest expression, that is, through the neurology of communication and logistics, and all that Mercury characterizes.

Mercury is a significant indicator used in astrological forecasting for agricultural commodities. Its exalted location lying in the midst of sidereal Virgo, sign of wheat and the harvest, explains why—something that is missed in tropical sign-based astrology, which places this ecliptical location in the tropical sign of Libra.

Virgo Corvus and Crater Star Chart

Virgo Corvus and Crater

Porrima, just two degrees north of the ecliptic expresses through the higher nature of the Mercurial mind—our higher brain centres that activate a greater perceptual capacity, often associated with clairvoyance and telepathy. Porrima impels us to have foresight to see future probabilities. Vindemiatrix, just north of Porrima, classically the Harvester, indicates the time is at hand, that it is in the timing. "This star is said to confer great powers of thought and an exacting, severe nature" (friend and siderealist Andrés Takra). Both stars lie over Corvus the Raven, the messenger bird. Corvus communicates through all of nature, and asks us to read the natural world, to listen to and observe the signs expressed in daily life from the world around us.

The essence of this zodiakal area, comprised by all of these conjoining entities expresses through the higher mental capacities associated with the ability to for-sense future probabilities. This prophetic ability is with specific purpose, not only for communication, but action. This is much more than receiving simple impulses of premonition, and is not only associated with ill-fated events, but is about how our attentiveness and experience "extends" or reaches from the past, through the present, and into the future. This implies the ability to sense future events just around the corner. The purpose of such eves-dropping into the future provides advantage in how to take appropriate action in the present. The purpose of such future-seeing is so that we can prepare and steer our course "to meet" the future events to come. The events felt or seen are already precipitating from the realm of probabilities, already set in motion by our past, which we then meet as we continue along our paths in life.

Non of us are forsaken or deprived of guidance, nor even need intermediaries like those found in religions or those of the astrological arts. We merely need to see, feel, and listen to the guidance of the divine expressing in the everyday affairs of our lives, palpable guidance which is continually around us, moment to moment, expressing through everything—the simple things occurring in our lives—its nature's way. We need only to trust in them and act upon them.

Stationing Mars' conjunction with Vindemiatrix and Porrima of Virgo, and Diadem (Alpha) Coma Berenices brings attention to timing, that the time is at hand, and to use intuition and foresight to extend our perceptual awareness beyond acting for instant gratification alone. It motivates us to use and apply our higher mental capacities and to be attentive to our greater soul guidance when we do take action. This energetic adds to the themes of the Earth-Mars synodic cycle and to the Mars-Vesta-Ceres compounded synodic themes emerging on the New Moon Eclipse. We are now in the potent crescendo of Mars returning direct, which occurs on May 19-20, just after our Demonstrable (Disseminating) Moon.

The Yod from the Neptune-Juno sextile to Mars opposite Venus creates an increasing tension for relationships and partnerships of all types to actualize visionary creativity based upon humanitarian principles into new solutions that ignite a new way forward. Heart-centered communication is key. This creative tension builds to explode into dynamic action as Mars returns direct and into the following lunar cycle. The Moon then triggers Vesta, Ceres and Haumea, all stationing and conjoined, hours later on May 11 and 12, stimulating the Ceres-Vesta-Haumea-synodic themes.

Excerpt from the March 1, 2014 Lunar Planner

Haumea's passage amongst these stars brings our attention to our personal attunement and to our environment, and their importance in birthing a new consciousness on Earth. Are we living in astute attentiveness to the natural world and acting upon the messages expressing through the natural world to mobilize change in our lives and in our world? This attunement is essential to know how to support and facilitate a new birth in consciousness and a new world paradigm. Participating as if things are going to continue in the same way can result in wasted efforts that leave us evolving lives based upon infrastructures that may no longer exist in the near future. It brings us to examine if that which we are doing is merely acquiescing to a modality of life dependant upon an antiquated system for our survival, or are we creating a new foundation that supports sustainability for all life and one that will lead to a healthy, prosperous and enlightened human race.

The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

The Full Moon occurs on May 14 at the sidereal Libra-Scorpio cusp, a few degrees past retrograde Saturn. Sun conjoins Sedna at the Aries-Taurus cusp. The Sun enters sidereal Taurus on May 15-16, the day after the Full Moon.

The Sun-Sedna conjunction marks the midpoint of vision and realization in the current annual Earth-Sedna synodic cycle. This Full Moon is an ideal time to gain more insight into the astrological nature of Sedna.

A planet-like object, or planetoid, orbiting the Sun at an extreme distance, in the coldest known region of our solar system was discovered in November of 2003. The planetoid (2003 VB12), was named Sedna for an Inuit goddess who lives at the bottom of the frigid Arctic ocean. Sedna is about one-quarter to three-eighths the size of the planet Pluto; and has an extreme elliptical orbit. Cold and removed, Sedna, approaches the Sun only briefly during her ~10,800-year solar orbit. Sedna curiously has a peculiar reddish color, like that of Mars.

Mythically, their are several versions of Sedna’s story. Basically, Inuit Sedna is a beautiful but vain maiden who is quite content living at home with her parents. She refuses several potential husbands but is finally coerced to marry by her father. She ends up marring an evil bird disguised as a man and is wisped away to a distant island for a life of misery. Her father comes to rescue Sedna, but on their way back in her father’s kayak the birdman attacks the kayak. In a vicious struggle and in fear of his life, Sedna’s father either inadvertently or deliberately pushes Sedna overboard into the frigid Arctic waters while severing her frozen fingers from clutching the boat. Sedna eventually drowns in dramatic scenario of deceit, betrayal and abandonment. Sedna becomes the goddess of the sea watching over the mammals of the oceans. Sedna has the head and torso of a woman and the tail of a fish—our mermaiden.

Being recently discovered, Sedna’s astrological influence is still exploratory. Based upon an initial exploration of Sedna’s astrophysical parameters, discovery, and myth, Sedna articulates the “return of the exiled feminine principle.” Sedna’s message is that humanity must recognize the truth about the suppression, persecution, abduction and exploitation of the feminine force in the world (both of females and of the feminine principle); and the mentality perpetuating such must be addressed and changed. Although it is quite obvious of our need for this re-emergence and balanced reintegration with the overly dominant patriarchal world, there is still dire hesitancy for such participation of females due to the often awry, deceptive and exploitative use of creative power by the masculine force in the world.

Sedna’s re-emergence suggests her purpose is to bring forth that which has been hidden, exiled, latent or suppressed; and specifically supporting the emergence of the long-suppressed feminine principle in the world; and the participation of females equally with males in all walks of life; prominently, openly and without fear, abuse, prejudice or exploitation.

Sedna appears to motivate action from a mature social platform, from an open, honest and inclusive humanitarian focus, into an active focus in leadership in the world; to break trail along a new path of discovery by demonstrating that a more feminine humanitarian type of leadership can provide the answers to the challenges our wold faces.

Potential Sedna issues may include: a refusal or hesitancy to participate in fear of being hurt, or from resentment of being hurt; abduction or abandonment issues (self-exile or forced exile); or fear of commitment.

Prior to 1950-1954 Sedna was south of the Celestial Equator (CE) in late sidereal Pisces. We might say that Sedna’s reemergence into the world was gestating in human consciousness up to this time. Sedna’s role supporting the emergence of the feminine shifted significantly around that time, and for those born at this time, as Sedna moved from being submerged in psychic-emotional sidereal Pisces onto the shores of sidereal Aries. Sedna was also crossing from south of Earth’s celestial equator to north at the same time—creating a strong drive to support the feminine reemergence in the world, for that generation and those to follow. We should begin to see another significant shift in the role of the feminine force in the world starting 2011, as Sedna enters the constellation of Taurus, and then in 2014-2017, as Sedna enters sidereal Taurus, supporting a more physically active and prominent participation of females in world.

The Moon conjoins Beta Centauri; Unukalhai, neck of the Serpent; Alpha and Beta Lupus; the Nuclear Galaxy AP Libra and Zuben el Akrab of Libra; the Ghost Galaxy NGC 2915 of the Chamaeleon, the shapeshifter. These all amalgamate and compose the potent cuspal area of sidereal Libra-Scorpio and produce an intense and passionate Full Moon energetic, although the Moon's conjunction with Saturn leading into the Full Moon may make for a somber pre-Full Moon day.

The Ghost Galaxy NGC 2915

The Ghost Galaxy NGC 2915

How do you find a nearly invisible galaxy? Pictured above is the blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxy NGC 2915. In visible light, shown above in yellow, this galaxy appears to be a normal dwarf galaxy, as indicated by the yellow smudge in the image center. Yet when imaged in a very specific color, shown in blue, a whole spiral galaxy appears. This specific color is in the radio band and is preferentially emitted by neutral hydrogen atoms. Much about BCD galaxies remains mysterious, such as how the neutral hydrogen obtained its shape, what drives current star formation, and why there is so much dark matter. NGC 2915 is located at the relatively nearby distance of 15 million light-years - just outside our Local Group of Galaxies.

These forces teach us how to graduate from the karmic clutches of the Scorpion, from falling prey as victims to the entrapping forces around us, fighting in struggle to live, and to realize that we experience a wide dynamic of forces that mold our experience, and that it is up to us to claim our mastery in the midst of these forces. This area of zodiak resides in the domain the Centaur, which lies south of the ecliptic. The benevolent and wise Centaurians are teachers or leaders back to the original cardinal virtues embodied by the Southern Cross, which the Centaur stands over and protects. The benevolent Centaur teaches the right way to live to attain self-mastery in the physical world and subsequently to claim evolutionary freedom from entrapment in the karmic re-incarnational process of soul growth—exemplified by Ophiuchus, who stands over the Scorpion and holds the serpent, with the neck and head of the Serpent reaching for the Northern Crown, which lies north of the scales of Libra.

The Centaurian training is not merely an intellectual understanding of these principles but is learned through an experiential journey moment-by-moment that leads us to true inner wisdom and knowledge on an energetic neurological level, resulting in the inner realization that makes self-mastery of the primal forces of life actualized and right action crystal clear.

Alpha Centauri, the main star of the Centaur, lies a bit further into sidereal Scorpio. Alpha Centauri is a binary star system, with two suns in close orbit. It is known as the "Alpha Centauri AB" system. Alpha Centauri is the fourth brightest star in the sky but it is the closest star to our star system. Alpha Centauri articulates the master Centaur, the teacher, the shower of the way. It embodies the wisdom of the Centaur.

Beta Centauri, our Full Moon star on the cusp of sidereal Scorpio, articulates the process itself, the way to gain self-mastery. Beta Centauri requires that we do whatever is required in the physical world, with assertive action, to achieve our paths of self-mastery in the world.

In our mythical image, the Centaur is firmly clutching Lupus the beast, or is shown in mythical images of the 1700-1800s (Uranographia of Johann Bode; et. al.) as holding impaled Lupus upon a long spear. Either way, the Centaur is bringing Lupus with conscious deliberation to Ara, the sacrificial Altar of the Centaur, to be consumed in the Centaur's pyre. This articulates the slaying or sacrificing of lower-self personality desires / egoic self and related patterns of behavior. This relinquishment is required to claim the profound level of self-mastery implied and embodied by that which is above the ecliptic—Unukalhai, the neck of the Serpent whose head reaches for the Northern Crown. The meaning of the word "sacrifice" as used here is important to understand. To sacrifice means to give up something of a lower nature for a higher office—not self-sacrifice. This image articulates this process of the "sacrifice" of the lower self-pursuits (even the human form or mold) for the attainment of one's higher self-mastery and subsequent ascended mastery in the world—the power and wisdom embodied by Ophiuchus holding the Serpent.

This act requires one to energetically take hold of this part of self with determination and conviction because the beast is relentless and will not go to the altar of transmutation willingly. In fact, for one not on a path of self mastery, this can express as avoidance, contortions and squirming to get out of having to surrender lower self and to address, own up, and take responsibility for our life experience. Alignments here can also indicate an attachment to a lower order expression and a required need to relinquish that attachment for a higher order expression to emerge or manifest

Here the theme of sacrifice and offerings arise, but here sacrifice does not mean self-sacrifice, in the true sense of the word it means to give up a lower office for a higher office. When offering up the lesser (lesser modes of involvement or patterns of behavior), we are also faced with taking on a greater responsibility, moving from victim consciousness, where we feel powerless and merely acquiesce to the conditions of life in which we find ourselves—caught in the clutches of the Scorpion—to taking responsibility for our life scenarios and consciously choosing a life path that supports our experiential growth, our emotional and spiritual maturity, as well as our physical wellbeing and fulfillment.

The sacrifice of Lupus is not a light matter, merely a blind act executed on a whim, but is a seriously sober and conscious act that will change one forever. To accomplish such a profound life-changing step, one must have cultivated the inner preparedness for such an initiation. An undaunted inner conviction of purpose must be clearly established in consciousness to be willing to sacrifice what is a powerful, and most often time, a primal or automatic behavioral way of life, that which at one time may even have been held quite dear.

The power of the Serpent cannot be prematurely coerced on the mental plane. It requires the accumulation of true personal power. Hence the need to surrender the past, a lesser position or aspect of self, embodied by Lupus, and to claim the personal power and experiential wisdom represented by the neck and head of the Serpent, is to make active the transmutational energies of Unukalhai, the kundalini serpent within self, so it may rise to the Northern Crown of true enlightenment.

Also conjoining from the southern heavens is the Chamaeleon, generally a symbol of adaptability, change and new beginnings, the Chamaeleon articulates the ability to adjust to any situation, but not through subservience or acquiescence, but in mastery of self and with intuitive sensitivity and individuality.

Zuben el Akrab is of poisonous conditions, critters, creatures or viruses of the underworld, or of such scenarios in our lives. Nuclear Galaxies of the BL Lacerta Category, of which AP Libra is one, exude powerful primordial forces. AP Libra is a part of the southern chelae (claw) of the Scorpion, reaching from the Scorpion’s head, via Brachium (Sigma Libra) to Zubenelgenubi of Libra—the southern claw—the karmic seat for incarnating souls.

The influence of the nuclear galaxy AP Libra can lure us into intense carnal and karmic-based scenarios. However, these experiences provide the transmutational force that serves us to claim our self-mastery in the incarnate world, to free ourselves from lower-order patterns of behavioral and from our past karmic entrapments by learning to master those forces. AP Libra forces are only entrapping when we are naive about them due to our lack of experience with them. The forces here are however very active at the physical, psychic, and carnal levels, and it requires the physical clarity and empowerment only gained through carnal experience that leads to our personal empowerment and subsequent attainment of evolutionary freedom—gaining spiritual prowess over such forces. AP Libra is a radiant powerhouse of primordial forces holding us in the entrapment of the Scorpion’s clutches until we gain this mastery, until we awaken from our naiveté about the power of such forces. AP Libra's primordial forces generally resonate through the root chakra, from what could be considered the controlling, carnal, sexual, survival-based realms of life.

Here carnal forces coalesce to create whatever type of scenario is required to challenge us to master these forces and free ourselves from any patterns and naiveté that may perpetuate our entrapment.

Beta Lupus and the Irregular Galaxy of the Chameleon bring the ability to morph, to shapeshift, to change as the situation requires. In its lower order expression however, this can be used to avoid what is required to claim one's true self-mastery, or to manipulate a situation. In its higher expression, used in self-mastery, it brings the ability to work with primal and carnal AP-Lib forces in a way that accesses the transformative power they or a situation offers. In this octave, we are relinquishing a lesser form or human mold for a refined, more empowered form that is in tune with the natural creative forces of life and death, intimately participating and merging with them. It is this that the mythical image of the Centaur placing Lupus the beast with conscious deliberation upon the Altar of the Centaur (Ara) articulates.

Our Full Moon brings our Solar Eclipse lunar cycle to its culmination. It brings us the realization that we have the opportunity to graduate into a new level of self-realization. In this process, we become aware that we create our experience and are responsible for the life scenarios in which we find ourselves. We shift from feeling helpless, even justifying why we are entrapped as if victims of life placing blame outside of self, into a greater maturity and wisdom. We learn to express mastery over the dualistic forces that were once entrapping or even destructive, living from our greater soul wisdom in unity consciousness (exemplified by Ophiuchus standing over the Scorpion). Here we are impelled to become fully self-aware and self-responsible, and to use and direct the creative forces of life to define our own evolutionary destiny. This is a fitting backdrop to Mars about to return direct, impelling a refined or higher-order expression of our creative power, as well as Saturn's new synodic theme, our responsibility to choose a new road forward.

Regarding the Sun-Sedna conjunction and in the context of our eclipse lunar cycle, a part of our Full Moon revelation may have to do with realizing how we hide or self-exile ourselves in various areas of our lives.

This is a time for the fruits of our labors to manifest and for lessons to become tangible. Whether the fruit of this cycle is in the form of inner growth or outer manifestation, it is that which will support the true nourishment of ourselves and others. Share your fruit. This is a time to give forth that which was learned or created, and to receive the same from others. Demonstrable expression and the imparting of our gifts anchors into the structure of our consciousness the self-empowerment gained from this Lunar Cycle.

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on May 17-18 conjoining Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius. Conjoining stars include Nunki and Ascella of Sag; and Meridiana, Beta and Gamma of Cororna Australis.

Nunki, Sigma Sag, (and Phi of Sagittarius at the Archer's hand), marks the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted focus, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to achieve our goals. Nunki imparts eloquent fluidity of form in movement, and a sense of being in the flow.

Ascella, Zeta Sagittarius, is a binary star system, and is the third brightest star in Sagittarius. Although, traditionally meaning the armpit, or more succinctly, the junction of the archer's shoulder and the outstretched arm holding the bow, along which the archer takes aim, Ascella lies more so at the breast or heart of the Centaur, slightly south of Nunki. The two stars are about one degree in ecliptical longitude, thus tightly conjoined. Ascella embodies the heart of the Zen Archer, not the physical heart, but the Archer's power of intent—the truth within from which he lives.

Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transferred into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articulates the combined qualities of vision and high ideals with the inherent force and power applied with undaunted focus to achieve our ideals and visions. There must be movement / velocity for the fletching of an arrow (Nunki) to steer the arrow’s course. Thus we must not only access our intent of purpose, but we must move it, apply it with focused deliberation through conscious action from a place of stability and confidence to transform our intent of purpose into the manifestation of our greater ideals and visions.

Several star qualities amalgamate around the Zen Archer's hand holding the taunt arrow: Nunki (Sigma), Phi, Ascella (Zeta), Tau, Nu, and Xi of Sagittarius. This is the warrior's core energy in its full potential, drawn and ready to release, provoking action that is life supportive—hence Sag is the spiritual warrior. This location marks the central vertical golden essence of the Archer, a point of equipoise and balance. It is where we align all of the light fibers of our being into a coherent whole and focus that totality in controlled action.

Ascella and Nunki also conjoin and lie over a semi-circle of stars and the Coronet Star Cluster forming Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, which is protected by the Zen Archer. They include Alphecca Meridiana (Alpha), Beta and Gamma of Corona Australis.

The Coronet Star Cluster

The Coronet Cluster in Corona Australis is an active star-forming region, like that of the Orion Nebula, but over three times closer to Earth. Quote From Chandra: "This composite image shows the Coronet in X-rays from Chandra (purple) and infrared emission from Spitzer (orange, green, and cyan). The Spitzer image shows young stars plus diffuse emission from dust. In the Chandra data many of these young stars appear as blue objects, revealing their output of high-energy X-rays and the amount of obscuring dust and gas in the region." Image and Caption Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/CfA/J.Forbrich et al.; Infrared: NASA/SSC/CfA/IRAC GTO Team

Corona Australis, considered an auspicious constellation, had been in existence since time immemorial. It is associated with the "Laurel Crown," a sign of victory, as worn by the Greek god Apollo—and hence the name Laureate. "Hipparchos new (Corona Australis) as the Caduceus of Hermes (the Egyptian Thoth)—(a staff entwined by two serpents topped with gold wings); or Herald's Wand of Peace (from the Greek karykeion); and Ptolemy simply saw it as the Southern Wreath; as it was also illustrated by Johann Bayer. It was illustrated as a plain heart-shaped object in the Alfonsine Tables. It has also been referred to as the Crown of Sagittarius (Corona Sagittarii), originating from the outspreading sun's rays in crown like form shown around the Gandharvas, the Aryan celestial horses that are suggested to be the forerunners to the Centaurs." (Richard Hinckley Allen). The Gandharvas were all male and the mates of the all female Apsaras, both of a pure unadulterated nature. The Apsaras were akin to beautiful water or forest nymphs, and the Gandharvas were ethereal beings of the air, forests, and mountains known for their musical and mystical skills and skill with the forces of nature. The Gandharvas were also stewards of Soma, the golden nectar or ambrosia of the gods. Thoth / Heremes is also associated with conjoining Lyra, Harp of the Angels, which embodies the healing artsciences of light, sound and geometry.

Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, underlying and protected by the Archer, embodies the wisdom of alchemy—of using natural forces to manifest a higher order or achieve a higher purpose, ideal or goal. This is an alchemical process; one initiated by evocation. A caduceus in physics uses two polarities or energetic fields in such a way that they cancel each other (how a caduceus coil is wound), which in essence opens a zero-point portal in space and time. This is the wisdom of the Centaurian Archer who establishes the caduceus within—the balanced cancellation of polarity within self, which activates the entwined spiritual currents (kundalini) up the spine, which in turn illuminates the pineal in the brain. This opens the perfect path in space through which the archer's arrow hits its target of unified consciousness (galactic awareness).

Our Pluto Demonstrable Moon provides the perfect energetic for a very deep cellular metamorphosis, perhaps involving a relinquishment of very long standing patterns or ways of living. It impels us to live a greater truth or deeper level of awareness wanting to emerge, to pursue our higher ideals with undaunted focus—perfect as Mars arrives to its exact station.

Inner Need

This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Acknowledging the needs we feel surfacing on the inner is essential to create the changes in our lives on the outer. This inner recognition provides the challenge to do so. There is impetus to withdraw from the activity of this entire cycle, to emerge from the stage setting that served our intended growth. Remember that others are having their inner needs as well! Demanding others change is not the solution to our well being. This is a good day for quite time. Allowing mutual space and sharing our realizations with mutual respect supports all parties.

Initiate Change

It is now time to plow under the crops so they may become the fertilizer for the next cycle. It is time to let go of any vested interest or attachment to the experience of the Lunar Cycle and to the stage props that served our growth. This is a transformational time, a time for personal change. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. This is a time of departure, of walking away from that which is no longer nourishing and to prepare the soil of our lives for that which is. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Not making the realized changes keeps ourselves bound in a circle of old patterns of growth; changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.

Last Quarter Moon
Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on May 21 in early sidereal Aquarius. The Moon conjoins Gienah of Cygnus and the Cygnus X-3 Eclipsing X–ray Source; Enif of Pegasus; the Helix Nebula NGC 7293 in Aquarius; and the Globular Cluster M15 in Pegasus

The Helix Nebula NGC 7293 in Aquarius

This location in early sidereal Aquarius is where we are motivated to strip off the cloaks of personality-based facades and shenanigans to reveal true heart-level self and to live from our deeper hearts' truth for the greater nourishment of all. Sadr, heart of the Swan, on the cusp, through the tip of the wing of Cygnus, Gienah, lifts us from a self-centered exclusive focus to a more embracing and inclusive level of participation. This marks the start of the revolutionary, visionary and humanitarian facet of the zodiak.

Cygnus X-3 resides in a unique galactic equatorial area, one of the galactic "sacks of coal," a dark void along the galactic plane that is easily seen between Sadr and Deneb on a dark starry night. Cygnus X-3 is an X-ray binary star system similar to Cygnus X-1 except its period is extraordinarily rapid at 4.8 hours, compared to the 5.6-day period of Cygnus X-1 (in later Capricorn), which is more common for binary star systems. The periodic rate of Cygnus X-3 is almost five octaves up from Cygnus X-1 and harmonically translates into the visible spectrum at 5615.40323 Angstroms, the color Yellow–Lemon. Cygnus X-3 is a dynamic, accelerating force, lifting mind to a higher or more embracing awareness.

Cygnus X-3 enters the ecliptic, along with Gienah, the binary star Epsilon Cygnus, the right outstretch wing tip of the Swan, and also with M15, a fainter globular star cluster in Pegasus. Cygnus X-3 is a principal force expressing in early sidereal Aquarius.

The Helix Nebula NGC 7293 in Aquarius

M15: Dense Globular Star Cluster
In the constellation Pegasus, M15 is one of the most densely packed globular star clusters in our Galaxy. This stunning Hubble Space Telescope image of M15 shows thousands of individual stars across the central 10 or so light-years of the cluster. Yet even the Hubble's sharp vision can't clearly separate the stars at this cluster's core. Globular star clusters harbor from a hundred thousand up to a million stars and roam the Milky Way halo. Like most globulars, M15 is filled with ancient stars, about 12 billion years old compared to the Sun's estimated 4.5 billion years. Its cool red giant stars appear yellowish in this color composite image. Unlike most globulars, M15 displays a planetary nebula, the briefly visible gaseous shroud of a dying star. Can you pick it out? Cataloged as Kuestner 648, M15's planetary nebula is the round pinkish cloud at the upper left.

Cygnus X-3 invites us to surrender our preconceptions of self and our descriptive judgments of others that uphold our isolationist way of being. Cygnus X-3 invites us to participate beyond our segregated ways based on gender, race, creed, or culture and open ourselves to new experience only available when we are willing to embrace the uniqueness of all life. Here we must shed the mortal facades we ware and participate from our true essence and to see the same in others. Mutually exclusive attractions create factions amongst our true soul-level friends and families. Here lies the embracing aspect of the Aquarian Waterman, to participate in the inclusiveness of universal (Uranian) love. The conjoining Globular Cluster of very old stars (old souls), M15 in Pegasus, inspires active and focused participation as mature, consciously awake individuals. M15 is one of the most densely packed globular star clusters in our Galaxy.

The stars of Pegasus, in general, are of strength and support, that which lifts humanity above the entrapping forces and scenarios common to a less than socially mature world. Enif, Baham and Homam are a group of fortuitous stars that lie over the Aquarian waterbearer, forming the head of Pegasus.

Enif of Pegasus, the nose of the magical flying horse, brings intuitiveness and sensitivity to the humanitarian / Aquarian pursuit. Enif is characteristic of altruistic people, those with the intuitive awareness to recognize what is of essence, of value, and worthy of humanitarian support. Enif is often of people who are capable of providing material and financial support and who have the sensitivity to do so. A fortuitous star, Enif asks us to follow our intuition to do what is truly supportive to our greater wellbeing and to those around us. Enif and Baham, lying over the Diamond of Aquarius, impel us to lift and elevate, to make possible that which otherwise would not be without such altruistic support.

Our Last Quarter Moon impels us to trust and use our intuitive capacities to make any changes in our lives. It inspires an inventive futuristic and humanitarian perspective. It invites us to remove any facades we may wear and to open to an inclusive rather than an exclusive way of participation by honoring our uniqueness and that of others. It may also motivate humanitarian or altruistic gestures.

Coalescence into Essence

The latter part of this phase results in coalescing all that was experienced in the cycle into its essence, into its seed form. It is a reflective time looking back over the past, of extracting and assembling what was learned from the cycle, claiming its true wealth and wisdom. This is a great time to explore what we learned in the context of the new moon theme. It is this seed essence which is of true value to our greater growth. This seed will sprout in the next Lunar Cycle of growth and unfoldment, and morph into the next Lunar Cycle's theme.

Our focus now turns toward the future. We now turn away from looking back over the past cycle completely and begin to look ahead, preparing for and anticipating the future cycle to come, to a new step to emerge in our Lunar Path of Fulfillment. The seed is planted. It is time to let it germinate. Completing any lose ends is appropriate, or to move into a new position for the next cycle to unfold. Here we make the field of all possibilities smooth and clear, ready for the new sprouting to occur.

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

Balsamic Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

The Balsamic Moon occurs on May 25 UT / May 24 MST nesting between Uranus and Eris in sidereal Pisces. It lies opposite to retrograde Ceres and Haumea and forms a T-square with Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter also trines retrograde Saturn and forms a loose Grand Trine with Saturn and Chiron.

The Moon conjoins Revati (Zeta) and Epsilon of Pisces, and several minor stars including Theta, Tau and Epsilon of Cetus and northern Nodus Secundus of Draco. It also conjoins the many stars forming the outstretched arms of Andromeda, which conjoin Revati and Baten Kaitos.

Uranus, of influence here, lies a couple degrees before the Moon and it resides at the location of Jupiter's perihelion (Jupiter's closest distance to the Sun in its orbit). Thus Jupiter’s influence is significant and influential here as well, infusing an expansive and mobilizing quality to progressive, spontaneous and revolutionary qualities of Uranus. Through these stars, from the Garnet Star of Cepheus (conjoins Algenib in mid-Pisces), through Alpheratz and Alderamin, to Revati of Pisces, we can see the nature of Jupiter's expansive mobilizing force in our lives, suggesting Jupiter supports abundance, has authoritative social influence, is of honor and advantage, and serves to free that which is held in bondage for the manifestation of a greater potential, and it imparts this responsibility.

Balsamic Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

Revati, Zeta Pisces, literally means riches, money, wealth, and financial resources. Prominent alignments with Revati can indicate material wealth gained from participating in the dramatic psycho-emotional world of human affairs. This zodiakal longitude is a couple of degrees to that of Baten Kaitos, the belly of ole Cetus, where the transformative process occurs while in the whale of human emotional experience. Revati and Baten Kaitos also mark the exalted seat of Venus—bringing attention to the relation of the flow of abundance, emotional clarity, and living from the heart.

North of and conjoining Revati and Baten Kaitos are the stars forming the outstretched arms of the entrapped Princess Andromeda. These stars include Eta, Zeta, Epsilon, Delta, Pi, Sigma and Lambda Andromeda. Andromeda’s northern arm is lashed high over her head upon the crag. Her southern arm, pulled southward toward the riches of the mortal world and also toward the shores where Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, approaches. Andromeda is stretched in turmoil in this natural sepulchre carved into the rocky cliff, caught in forces not of her own making, an environment and genetic lineage she was born into.

Andromeda is forced to face the sea (her emotions) and Cetus, the sea-monster (the fear-based monster of collective consciousness), which is buried deep beneath the water (in the subconscious mind) only to reveal its thrashing tail in the water and menacing head at the surface shore.

The stars forming Andromeda’s bound outstretched arms articulate not only the bound feminine, but also the bondage of humanity’s prosperous future, which adds to articulate the theme of Baten Kaitos and Revati. This also articulates the subjugation of females and the control of financial resources by the dominant patriarchal-driven bureaucracies.

This zodiacal longitude also brings our attention to financial resources in general and the courage to release fear about not having or surviving, or losing what we do have, both of which drive the tormenting forces of Cetus and the bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. Prominent alignments with Revati can also indicate an inherited fortune, or success with wealth and resources in the world.

Eris had been transiting Revati in 1999 through 2009 and Baten Kaitos in 2007 through 2019. See: Eris, The Great Disrupter, Revati & the Global Economic Crisis. Uranus will be transiting Revati in 2015 through 2016, and Baten Kaitos in 2016 through 2017. Uranus will conjoin Eris in 2016 and 2017, also birthing the Uranus-Eris generation. Uranus and Eris will make their synod on December 10, 2016. Thus, we may start to see and experience greater radical changes in the world of economics and in the bureaucracies in the second half of the 2010s. (Uranus last transit to Revati occurred in 1931-1932, also a time of financial crisis and changes in economic standards.)

Thus, the seed of this lunar cycle coalesces our Solar Eclipse Lunar Theme. The Balsamic Moon brings attention to mobilizing expansive progressive revolutionary change in our lives and in the world, with a focus toward financial matters and limitations imposed by greater authoritarian powers and bureaucracies. Having moved through the April Grand Square and the Mars retrograde, we should now begin to see greater progressive movement as well as an increase of radical change in many areas of our lives and in the world over the many months ahead.

Our next New Moon occurs on May 28, 2014 in sidereal Taurus conjoining the Hyades. Ceres and Vesta complete their retrogrades at this time as well. The direct movement effects of Mars, Ceres and Vesta will fully engage and become more prominent in the following lunar month. More to come then.
