Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Lunar Cycle Overview

Our August 25, 2014 New Moon occurs amongst the stars of the Lion. The New Moon also conjoins the recently discovered Dwarf Planet Orcus by 3°. The New Moon lies just past Regulus of Leo and conjoins Megrez and Al Kaphrah of The Great Bear; Alpha and Gamma of the Sextant; and the Vela Pulsar, an extremely old Super Nova remnant on the sail of Argo Navis.

This area of the zodiak is about personal integrity, a vertical alignment within self such that are thoughts and actions are in alignment with our hearts. It is also about changing winds and our need to adjust our approach toward our desired destination based upon the changing conditions occurring in the world around us, without losing site of our long-term goals. It may require that we look at things in a new way or from a different perspective. This New Moon and lunar cycle brings emphasis to our long-term evolutionary sojourn on Earth, to the ramifications of the directions we set regarding how we use our creative power, especially reflecting upon the past destructive scenarios for Earth and her peoples. It impels us to reassess our present actions and the tactics we apply in life to change our evolutionary outcome to one that does not repeat a discordant and destructive past, but that leads to a prosperous and harmonious future.

Mars and Saturn conjoin just after the New Moon. This conjunction creates a high-tension inconjunct aspect to Uranus and Eris on the South Lunar Node. Mars and Saturn recently began a new cycle in June. Their heliocentric conjunction was also inconjunct to the Dwarf Planet Eris. Later in this lunar cycle, Mars and Pluto begin a new 2-year cycle amongst the stars of the Zen Archer.

For many fear-based and control-minded people, these Mars, Saturn and Pluto alignments, their cycles, their challenging aspects, and the high-tension energetics they produce can fuel hostile, aggressive, and radically reactive behavior. For those who are more emotionally and spiritually mature, who are focused upon personal growth, progressive change, love and compassion, they impel audacious leadership and creative action to evolve new structural foundations and ways of participating in life based upon greater universal truths.

In addition to the Mars-Pluto cycle, several new planetary cycles begin in this lunar month, engaging a plethora of new evolutionary currents in our lives. Earth and Neptune begin a new annual cycle, also Earth and Chiron, both in the humanitarian and future-minded Aqauarian Waterbearer. The Full Moon also conjoins Chrion in Aquarius. A new Venus-Jupiter 236-day cycle and a new Pallas-Haumea 4.7-year cycle begin just before First Quarter Moon conjoining massive Eta Carina. Venus and Orcus begin a new 225-day cycle in Leo toward the end of the lunar cycle, also conjoining the stars of the Sextant, all bringing emphasis to feminine-oriented forces in the world and in our lives. The message of and currents set in motion by the Pallas-Haumea cycle may prove to be quite significant over the remainder of this decade. Eta Carinae is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy—estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. Eta Carinae, Lord of the Waves, the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu (he who warned Noah), is the foreteller of impending evolutionary change, but also the instructor of the way through such change.

In contrast to the upsurge of aggressive atrocities occurring in the world that are emphasized by the media, these cycles impel progressive heart-oriented action to birth a new consciousness on Earth, which hundreds of millions of people, the culturally and spiritually creative, continue to do. This is the growing group of people who see through the media's emphasis on fear, war, calamity and despair, and take action to create innovative social, ecological, economic, political, technological and spiritual change.

Pluto completes its retrograde on the Equinox, occurring late in this lunar cycle. Pluto and retrograde Uranus once again begin to tighten their orb leading into the sixth of the seven geocentric Uranus-Pluto squares, which occurs in mid-December.

The Sun and Moon approach their conjunction with the Dwarf Planet Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh) in sidereal Virgo, just after the Equinox at the very end of the lunar cycle. Makemake adds a significant energetic to the following New Moon and lunar cycle.

These are but a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

The New Moon

Our August 25 New Moon in sidereal Leo conjoins Regulus of Leo, Alpha and Gamma Sextans; Megrez and Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major; the Quasar 1101+384 in Ursa Major and the Vela Pulsar of Argo Navis. Orcus, about 3° further along in ecliptical longitude and lying south of the ecliptic in the Sextant, also conjoins the Vela X-1 Neutron Star; and Alula of Ursa Major. Overseeing this area of the heavens is Thuban of Draco.

Orcus was discovered on Feb 19, 2004. Although Orcus is a bit smaller than Pluto, Orcus has a nearly identical orbital size, orbital period (year), and orbital inclination. However, Orcus’ orbital plane’s orientation in our solar system is tilted in the opposite direction from Pluto’s. For this reason, I tend to think of Orcus as Pluto’s compliment. Just as Pluto has Charon as its primary moon, so too does Orcus have a moon, Vanth, discovered on Nov 13, 2005. Just as Pluto and Charon are considered a dual planetary system, so too is Orcus and Vanth.

Although new to the astrological world and thus with an astrological influence not yet fully apprehended, based on Orcus’ orbital parameters, Orcus seems to address how we are applying our personal will for the greater well being of all humanity; how we are contributing to human society. Orcus motivates the use of our day-to-day lives, our daily activity for our souls’ greater purpose on Earth. Orcus seems to express a quiet profundity, almost unnoticed as it serves us to get in touch with our deeper soul essence and purpose—the oaths of our souls, our soul-level agreements, what we are really doing here on Earth. More about Orcus and Pluto.

The Leo New Moon

The August 25, 2014 New Moon in Leo

Regulus, Alpha Leo, is "Chief or King of the Four Royal Stars" (Regulus Fomalhaut, Aldebaran, and Antares). Throughout antiquity Regulus was associated with royalty and kings (the colors royal blue and gold). Its name is given as "the Regulus" or "the Rex," meaning the "Law Giver." Regulus is considered the governing king of the four royals for several reasons. It lies almost exactly upon the ecliptic, thus, once a year around Aug 22-23, during Earth's orbit around the sun, the Sun occults Regulus. Residing at 5° sidereal Leo, Regulus is the only one of the four royal stars prominently aspecting the fixed axis of Earth's Precessional Cross (the Gate of God at 5° Sag and the Gate of Man at 5° Gemini), both in longitude and in latitude. The Rex is therefore an administrative seat, a foundational star insuring integrity and order.

On the personal level, Regulus is about our inner "vertical integrity," that is, living true to self, openly on the world stage. This means walking in confidence and with self-respect, aligned with the truth in our hearts, in thought, word, and deed. Our personal integrity, our inner vertical attunement, must precede any horizontal, humanitarian participation in the world (Leo's opposite Aquarian pole). Without this inner integrity we become self-sacrificing, entrapped in a sympathetic resonance of dance, giving self away at the cost of our hearts' truth. This perpetuates discord and dysfunction for self and for others because we are simply living a lie. Only by living from our personal integrity and true to heart do we provide opportunity for others to also stand in their integrity and live their truth. On the other side of coin, without the maturity of acknowledging the Aquarian polarity, we can become ego-driven, where it is all about “I” without caring or concern for others.

Regulus is of prominence, eminence, nobility, royalty, pride, courage, pioneering pursuits, self-reliance, independence, and influential leadership. Regulus impels the desire to create order, and a dynamic pursuit to win, to be on top or in the limelight. Significant alignments with Regulus often indicate those with a prominent role in the global arena or on stage.

Conjoining Regulus is the Seyfert Galaxy NGC 3227 of Leo, which lies next to Algieba, the mane of the Lion, and expresses the power and wisdom of the Lion—from the integrated head and heart. This Seyfert produce a dynamic and outgoing expression, common to those prominently on stage.

South of the Lion is the Sextant. The primary stars are Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Sextans. The sextant is a navigational instrument used to determine the vertical position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon. The Sextant’s stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.

On a mundane level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth. This later point is especially emphasized with the presence of Orcus.

Much like sailing, changing winds require the application of personal will to change the boat's tack to continue toward our longer-term destination. This requires the assessment of our current position and heading, and of the changing conditions around us—the weather, waves, winds and currents—to responsibly set a new tack along our journeys in life.

Surrender & Play

The end of this phase is also the end of the entire Lunar Cycle. It leads into the next New Moon. The day before the New Moon is a time to surrender in order to allow the next Lunar Theme to sprout in its purity. Let go of all fears, worries, and self-judgment. Become empty. This is a great time to just play and have fun.

Expressing a New Theme

A new theme emerges. A new idea, a new concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, a spontanious message, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen. A simple word or phrase may pop into your mind during this quite time describing the new lunar theme in a way that is unique to you, or perhaps a simple feeling or knowing will come over you. The ability to listen, honor and trust the inner is all that is required at this time. The ideal time to attune to your New Moon theme is exactly as the New Moon occurs, or at sunrise after the New Moon if the New Moon occurred during the night.

New Moon Star Chart

Argo Navis is the ship in the mythical story of Jason and the Argonauts, a derivation of the older Sumerian story, Gilgamesh and his fifty Sirian warriors. The Argo lies reverse in the heavens, stern to the east, bow to the west, sailing along the galactic equator, in Earth’s precessional direction. The stars of the Argo are associated with evolutionary matters for the entire planetary system, and for all souls' evolutionary growth and fulfillment—the evolutionary cycle of the soul.

The Argo is divided into several sub-constellations, Carina,Vela, Puppis and Pyxidis. The stars of the sail of the Argo, Vela, and the northern dynamics of Ursa Major and the world powers, are of subtle evolutionary currents, forces, and portals transcendent to the stage of the temporal world. Because the stars and x-ray sources of Vela lie upon the galactic equator and south of the ecliptic, they are of soul's transcendent evolutionary purpose and mission.

The Arab Suhail articulates the nature of the Sail of the Argo—of the elegant and subtle evolutionary currents guiding the plane (ship or craft) of the soul. "Suhail, among the Persians, is synonymous for wisdom; as in the Al Anwar i Suhaili, the Lights of Canopus." (Allen)

The Vela Pulsar, an extremely old Super Nova remnant conjoining Alpha and Gamma Sextans and expressing through the Sextant's theme, has a fundamental frequency of 11.2084065685 Hz., which translates to a color harmonic of 3800Å— a high spiritual violet, bordering near UV. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, constantly providing an inner message or reminder for those attentive to such subtleties. Although the Vela Pulsar can create somewhat of a spiritual serenity, much like we might have relaxing on a sailing ship in a light breeze, there demands the preparedness and alertness to leap into action as the increasing gales and changing currents require.

The Vela Pulsar reminds us to remain serene but alert and preserving along our journey, to continually plot our position based upon our greater spiritual truth and to adjust our course accordingly so we can arrive to the sanctum we seek. The Vela Pulsar reminds us to maintain sight on our true direction based on the underlying evolutionary currents rather than on the winds of the moment, the diversionary and transitory surface breezes, to plot the path on our long-term (soul's) direction. If there is any pulsar equated more to the maturity of the old soul (old salt), the Vela Pulsar is it.

The neutron star Vela X-1, conjoining Orcus, creates a relentless but transcendent wind driving us to respond to life. It engages us to create our long-term evolutionary destiny. This is an all or nothing deal, as that which we set in course in the present affects the nature of our evolutionary timestream. If we take no stance we are merely destined to chance and are blown in the forever changing winds.

Thuban of Draco, in the far northern heavens, just north of Alioth of the Great Bear, was Earth’s pole star circa 2800 BCE, near the “tear of the Bear,” a point in Earth’s ~25,000-year “evolutionary cycle of the soul” at which time a turning and fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the Earth.

This was near the 180° point in Earth’s Precessional Cycle, which occurred about 4880 BCE, which marked the epitome of darkness in the last temporal 12,000-year period in the precessionally driven, evolutionary cycle of the soul. Dark manipulative forces were specifically dominant from around 4800 BC to 2800 BC in Earth's evolutionary cycle. It was a time in the cycle of the passage from a matriarchal to a patriarchal dominant society. (We are now (circa 2000 A.D.) moving into a time in the cycle impelling a balanced re-unification of the matriarchal and patriarchal forces.

Alignments with Thuban impel the need to take responsibility for the direction of evolutionary affairs for life on Earth set in motion in the distant past, with repercussions incurred at soul level, and with responsibility to ensure evolutionary fulfillment now. Thuban is not about the punctual moment, but more about the backdrop, the durative time-stream in which we find ourselves. Thuban's eminence in our celestial sphere demands we take responsibility for our past-future experience throughout our sojourn on Earth, especially for the destructive or disrupting use of power.

Jupiter by Cassini

Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major extends from Megrez and Phecda (Phad); and the hind legs of the Great Bear extend from Al Kaphrah, which forms the hind feet of the Bear, Alula Borealis and Alula Australis, and Tania Borealis and Tania Australis. Al Kaphrah and Alula impart a long-standing and established power, expressed as an assertive and powerful creative force applied to steer and protect. They are of stability, enduring strength and established authority. Al Kaphrah also impels the balanced distribution or delegation of power and authority. Alula synthesizes with the theme of Thuban of Northern Draco and the Vela X–1 Neutron Star in Velorum, the sail of the Argo.

This New Moon and lunar cycle brings emphasis to our long-term evolutionary sojourn on Earth, to the ramifications of the directions we set regarding how we use our creative power, especially reflecting upon the past destructive scenarios for Earth and her peoples. It brings attention to what is occurring now in our world and in our lives, and to reassess our present actions and the tactics we apply in life to change our evolutionary outcome to one that does not repeat a discordant and destructive past, but that leads to a prosperous and harmonious future. It not only brings impetus for a change of tack, but also a message to take a hard look at what we are doing as a species on Earth. Do we merely acquiesce to currents set in motion long ago that continue to lead us on a path to devastation, or do we embrace our responsibility to ensure we change that potential?

Orcus' influence brings emphasis to those who are functioning from ego fear-based motive, especially those in authoritarian positions upon the world stage, and those who are participating from their deeper soul awareness, as well as oaths and agreements made at a soul level to effect positive change in the world. It adds impetus to participate from this deeper inner knowing without becoming lost in the dramatic destructive antics occurring in the world, to effect positive evolutionary change despite it.

At a personal level, this lunar cycle is about living in personal integrity and aligning our hearts and heads with the actions we take. It also invites us to reassess our approaches in life, perhaps with need to change how we are attempting to move forward toward our longer-term goals. It raises the question: Are we making the required changes in our personal lives so we can arrive safely to our desired destination.

Mars and Saturn

The Mars-Saturn conjunction nesting in the scales of Libra, just hours after the New Moon, is sextile to Mercury, both forming a Yod to Uranus and Eris on the South Lunar Node. This configuration brings emphasis and impetus to create radical change in our destructive tendencies of the past, to address any upheaval that may be occurring in our lives, and especially that occurring in the world. The Mars-Saturn conjunction brings attention to how authorities are using power in the world. It also invites us to use our personal creative motive constructively, to establish security and balance in our lives and in our relations. Mercury's presence brings emphasis to communication and to the daily logistics in our lives to effect that change.

Saturn resides at its exalted location in the ecliptic, and this is also the location of the recent Earth-Saturn synod that began a very significant 378-day Earth-Saturn cycle in May of 2014. The nature of this cycle is presented at length in the April 29, 2014 Lunar Planner.

...the essence of this new Saturn synodic cycle—our responsibility to change our patterns of the past by deliberately choosing to do things differently, to choose a new road forward. This may become quite significant throughout this Saturn cycle ahead.

The Earth-Neptune and Earth-Chiron Synodic Cycles

Earth and Neptune begin a new annual synodic cycle on August 29, an hour before the Crescent Moon. This is when the Sun is opposite retrograde Neptune as seen in a geocentric chart. Earth-Neptune synods progress about 2.25° through the ecliptic. Thus the synodic themes shift smoothly in character. Earth and Chiron begin a new annual synodic cycle on September 7, just before the Full Moon, both occurring in sidereal Aquarius.

The Earth-Neptune and Earth-Chiron synods occur further and further apart each year because Chiron moves a little faster than Neptune. Chiron and Neptune began a new 85-year Chiron-Neptune synodic cycle on the cusp of sidereal Aquarius on February 14, 2010. Thus, the Earth-Neptune and Earth-Chiron annual synods nest within the theme of this 85-year cycle, creating an evolutionary progression through the zodiak year by year. The progressive unfoldment of this cycle provides a primary stimulus to create a bridge into a humanitarian based society, a new world paradigm, in the midst of the dramatically crumbling old world.

The Gas Giant Neptune is of inspiration, ideals, dreams and visions; as well as inspiring a new visionary-based, universal consciousness. Neptune imparts a dissolving force. Neptune’s atmosphere shifts and changes continuously, looking quite different in just a few days time. This is one of the astrophysical characteristics of Neptune that reveals why Neptune tends to dissolve things into universality; it is amorphous, swirling and shifting, and thus also lends itself to the exploration of creative ideas and alternative realms of perception; and also to merge in consciousness with others and with one’s surroundings. Neptune dissolves boundaries and thus enables one to see imagery beyond the semantics of words and language. Neptune inspires an artful expression of abstract, mystical and spiritual imaginings. Neptune elevates and spiritualizes that which it aligns with. It molds our ideologies.

Neptune can however leave one lost in a dream world, unable to see if ideas and visions have any real substance or viability, which can leave one living in illusion, self-deception, confusion, or behind a veil or mask. Thus the issue of discernment arises as well. In its lesser expression, Neptune can leave one impressionable, easily lost in followings, the paranormal or phenomenology. It can express as martyrdom or savior complexes; and as deceptive mysterious behavior as a way of hiding. Avoidance and seeking escape is common, especially through addictions, such as drug abuse.

The Pelican Nebula Ionization Front

Pelican Nebula Ionization Front

The Pelican Nebula is located a few degrees east of Deneb in the constellation Cygnus, about 1,800 light-years distant from Earth. The Image was taken by the MOSAIC CCD camera of the Mayall 4-meter reflector telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona, USA; and was produced by NOAO Survey Program "Deep Imaging Survey of Nearby Star-Forming Clouds" Image credit: John Bally (U. Colorado), Bo Reipurth (U. Hawaii)/NOAO/AURA/NS

This Earth-Neptune synod primarily conjoins Deneb of Cygnus and Sadachbia of Aquarius.

Lying in the northern heavens upon the galactic equator we find Cygnus the Swan, also called the Northern Galactic Cross. Deneb, tail of the swan, is the principal star of Cygnus and marks the top (head) of the northern galactic cross. Deneb is the first primary star that Earth's pole encounters in Earth's Precessional Cycle, thus governing the first of the seven heavens (evolutionary epochs) in the Earth's precessional cycle. It is the messianic head of the Cycle of Earth’s Precessional Cross—of the evolutionary cycle of the soul—and it is the overseeing administrative seat for this area of the zodiak. Deneb is more than a hundred times the diameter of our Sun, with a very high luminosity.

Deneb embodies our unadulterated androgynous pure soul essence before fragmentation into race, sex, or creed. Deneb inspires us to stand in the awareness of our pure soul essence, in this wholeness and to participate from the maturity of unity consciousness, unbiased and beyond the segregations and categorizations common to modern-day mass-consciousness.

Sadachbia, Gamma Aquarius, is the "lucky star of hidden things." Sadachbia can indicate that a physical gift of extreme value can be discovered, revealed, claimed or given.

This new Earth-Neptune synodic cycle, similar to the previous one, brings inspiration to dissolve the boundaries that separate humankind, while at the same time inspiring us to evolve our ideologies toward a humanitarian-based society, where all people and all life are cared for. It especially impels visionary creativity toward this focus through the arts and sciences, and though all types of multi-media. It impels altruistic gestures to aid those less fortunate.

Ending the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Releasing Restricting Patterns

Just prior to the first Crescent Moon, we can realize the opportunity for growth that the Lunar Cycle has to offer. What surfaces now is: How I would have done this in the past, the old or established ways, based on past experience. Here we have the opportunity to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns, much like sluffing off the protective sheath of a seed now beginning to sprout, as that sheath would only limit the unfoldment of the new theme and our own growth. The Crescent Moon marks the time when the theme would like to grow into a more expansive form. By consciously honoring, accepting in love, and letting go of our old concepts, we allow ourselves to move forth into the expansive growing phase of the Lunar Cycle.

Expanding upon the Theme

This is a time when the currently held vision begins to expand into a greater form. New possibilities of unfoldment would like to grow—possibilities not realized before. This 3 1/2 day Growng Phase is a time of engaging our creativity and integrating it with the original theme, identifying its unique and full potential. It is a time of allowing a realistic and achievable plan of action to evolve, a time of inspiration, and a time to have faith in ours creative process.

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Crescent Moon occurs on August 29 conjoining the Dwarf Planet Haumea on the North Lunar Node in sidereal Virgo, opposite Uranus and Eris on the South Lunar Node.

The Dwarf Planet Haumea

Haumea artists conception

Haumea has an ellipsoidal shape, is about the size of Pluto in length, and has an orbital period of 285 Earth years. It spins extremely rapid end-over-end at a rate of 3.9 Earth hours. Haumea maintains a state of equilibrium due to its rapid rotation. Although not round, this why it is classified as a Dwarf Planet.

Ann Field / Space Telescope Science Institute / ESA/NASA

The Dwarf Planet Haumea (pronounced how-MAY-ah) was discovered on Dec 28, 2004. Haumea has two moons, Hi’iaka (pronounced HEE-’ee-AH-kah) and Namaka (pronounced nah-MAH-kah).

Haumea is the goddess of childbirth and fertility in Hawaiian mythology. Her many children sprang from different parts of her body. She takes many different forms and has experienced many different rebirths. Martha Warren Beckworth suggests the name Haumea more naturally comes from Hanaumea, meaning “sacred birth.” Hence we have an essence of “purity,” a birth that is special, the ability to produce a fresh or clear state of consciousness.

Haumea’s propensity is to intercede with dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise to support a new and wholistic birth in consciousness, one in which the feminine has autonomy to act in accord with nature and the natural world, and to express a new level of awareness about what is truly life supportive, especially regarding the use of the fundamental primordial forces of life. Haumea also appears to motivate action to reorient destructive use of power, resources and patterns of behavior into a nurturing force that supports and protects life, home and family; and that aids our emergence into a spiritually and primordial aware state of being. At a personal level, Haumea inspires the application of our personal attributes and resources for these same principles. She tends to equilibrate by illuminating out of balance automatic primordial patterns of behavior in consciousness. More about Haumea.

The Haumea North Node Crescent Moon conjoins Seginus and Muphrid of Boötes; Theta Virgo; and Alpha Volans.

Haumea's exact conjunction with Eta Carinae occurs from December 2014 through 2016. Eta's ecliptical longitude is between Muphrid and Archturus. Their distance in ecliptical longitude is ~5°.

Boötes, the Virgin’s consort and protector, stands over the Virgin giving birth, over the Virgo-Libra cusp, ensuring a safe and unadulterated birth from the Virgin. Boötes stands against the fallen corrupt totalitarian world powers that have demonstrated the inability over and again to ensure evolutionary fulfillment, with the continual destruction of the peoples of the Earth and typical catastrophic outcomes.

Seginus, the left shoulder of Boötes is of strength and responsibility. It along with the stars forming the upraised arm and hand, Gamma, Theta, Iota and Kappa, impel rebellious stance against manipulative or medaling totalitarian authorities attempting to interfere with the healthy birth and expression of soul consciousness on Earth. Seginus conjoins Muphrid, the left foot of Boötes, which impels confident non-hesitant action to provide personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments are created so that souls have the opportunity to birth, evolve and express in their highest potential and achieve evolutionary fulfillment.

Boötes functions not by outward force but by spiritual awareness and astute intuitive prowess in the application of the knowledge about environmental issues and transcendent subtle forces. Boötes' action is based from a place of receptivity and sensitivity to the situation at hand, action associated with planning, preparation, and strategy.

Volans (Piscis Volantis), the unique flying fish, generally found in warmer tropical oceans, is known for its wing-like pectoral fins that allow it to glide through the air. Volans, resides quite south in the heavens, under the stern and keel of the Argo, which is associated with transcendent forces and evolutionary currents that direct our lives. Volans is associated with our soul-ar plane (not earth plane), specifically laying the foundation that supports our souls' uninhibited true expression.

2008 Gamma-ray bursts in Bootes

GRB 080319B in Bootes - Artist's Impression -

"Gamma-ray bursts are the Universe's most luminous explosions. Most occur when massive stars run out of fuel. As a star collapses, it creates a black hole or neutron star that, through processes not fully understood, drives powerful gas jets outward. As the jets shoot into space, they strike gas previously shed by the star and heat it, thereby generating bright afterglows. The jets of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) were aimed almost directly at the Earth, at almost the speed of light. This burst was so intense that, despite happening halfway across the Universe, it could have been seen briefly with the unaided eye."
ESO PR Photo 28/06 (10 Sept 2008)

The flying fish articulates an extraordinary force, the ability to gather the momentum and build up the speed to make a leap into and glide through a new realm of experience, one not common to itself. Volans conjunction with the thigh of Boötes and the sacrum of the Virgin brings awareness about the subtle but powerful soul-directed forces guiding our lives and the need to participate with powerfully directed intent to pierce the limiting envelope of our existing perceptional bubble and birth into a new life expression or new realm of consciousness.

One of the brightest stellar explosions ever seen occurred in March of 2008—called a gamma-ray burst (GRB 080319B). It conjoined Seginus and Muphrid in Boötes, and was just south of Seginus. This explosion energized and emphasized the theme of Seginus of Boötes for humanity in 2008. It is also interesting to note that this is the ecliptical longitude of Makemake’s aphelion; and it was slightly later that year that began the avalanche of events catalyzing the restructuring of the financial banking arena and the exposure of massive fraudulent activity in that arena. This also began with the Uranus opposition to Makemake and Saturn starting in the latter half of 2008, with the Uranus-Makemake opposition continuing into early 2011. (This is also the location of Saturn (conjoined Juno) in the US July 4, 1776 Declaration of Independence chart.)

Haumea's passage amongst these stars brings our attention to our personal attunement and to our environment, and their importance in birthing a new consciousness on Earth. Are we living in astute attentiveness to the natural world and acting upon the messages expressing through the natural world to mobilize change in our lives and in our world? This attunement is essential to know how to support and facilitate a new birth in consciousness and a new world paradigm. Participating as if things are going to continue in the same way can result in wasted efforts that leave us evolving lives based upon infrastructures that may no longer exist in the near future. It brings us to examine if that which we are doing is merely acquiescing to a modality of life dependant upon an antiquated system for our survival, or are we creating a new system that supports sustainability for all life and one that will lead to a healthy, prosperous and enlightened human race.

The Lunar Nodes Crescent Moon brings strong motivation to relinquish antiquated patterns that undermine our lives and our world, and to birth a new modality of being that is in attunement to the environment and life itself. It is from the discord and upheaval of the past that provides motivation to birth this new expression in life. It brings attention to our need for personal attunement and astute attentiveness to the natural world around us, and to heed the messages expressing through the natural world to mobilize change in our lives and in our world—opportunities otherwise lost. Environmental attunement with consideration for all life is important to keep in mind as we set any new directions in our lives and steer our evolutionary course forward.

The New Pallas-Haumea and Venus-Jupiter Synodic Cycles

The Pallas-Haumea Synod and the Venus-Jupiter Synod occurs on September 1, 2014. The Pallas-Haumea Synod initiates a new 4.6-year cycle, which will continue into 2019. This synod occurs slightly past Muhrid of Bootes, conjoining it, Alpha Volans, and also massive Eta Carinae of Argo Navis.

Mature Pallas expresses as the artful use of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality’s paradox. Mature Pallas expresses from the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, and from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality—from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another—and to claim that experience as wisdom. It invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express nonjudgmental courageous solution beyond life’s paradoxes created by opposing forces.

Pallas is applier and defender of wisdom and truth; the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness. Mature Pallas accepts personal responsibility for having co-created our experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness. Pallas has the strategic capacity to link, unify and bring together; and has wonderful perceptual skills for planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts or artists. Pallas significantly effects emotional and physical equilibrium. More about Pallas.

Late sidereal Virgo can be through of as the womb of the Virgin, holding a gestational and incubational quality for a new birth to emerge. It brings attention to the energetics of our environments and to the resources required for an unadulterated birth. It is of nature and the natural forces of life, and it impels a highly energetic and intelligent creative expression—a potential about to explode into a new life.

Eta Carinae enters the ecliptic in late sidereal Virgo and due to its massive and extremely active nature, it significantly and prominently influences the latter part of Virgo; the womb (inner sanctum) of the Virgin, and the themes of Spica and Archturus and of Muphrid and Seginus; and the Virgo-Libra cusp.

Eta Carinae of Argo Navis

Eta Carinae is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy—estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in 1840 A.D., then making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 to 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carinae theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998—perhaps Eta's warnings. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time!

Eta Carinae, Lord of the Waves, the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu (Eridu*) (he who warned Noah), generally is considered the foreteller of impending catastrophic change, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man "Oannes," who taught the Chaldaeans, both esoteric science and that which would civilize their lives, from building cities and temples to agricultural technique (Robert Temple, "The Sirius Mystery" / Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled"). Eta embodies the esoteric Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Oannes is the emblem of priestly, esoteric wisdom; he comes out from the sea, because the 'great deep', the water, typifies...the secret doctrine." (Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled")

*Archeologists suspect the Mesopotamian city of Eridu was occupied between about 5000 and 2000 BC. Eridu is south of Nasiriya in Iraq (currently called Tell Abu Shahrain).

Due to Eta’s strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level—stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth's safe evolutionary outcome. As a part of Argo Navis and the Argo's keel, Eta is of navigational matters regarding the evolution of the entire soul collective on Earth.

Eta Carinae's impending Super Nova explosion, is a portent of evolutionary change and impels environmental preparation for such change. It also indicates that something with far greater potential and magnitude can and will birth through the human form—a far greater expression of consciousness. Eta stimulates our need to prepare for and to become capable of this greater expression of consciousness, to create an inner bio-logical environment that is capable of a higher expression of consciousness as well as one that can support such a birth through the corporeal form.

Two feminine oriented forces unite in this most significant stellar influence. The Pallas-Haumea synthesis impels the birth of a new order of social justice through the non-biased application of artistic creative intelligence. This is definitely an energetic inviting humanity to mature, and to birth a new paradigm from the wisdom Pallas inspires. It may also create impetus to bring forth new expressions of art, architectural systems, and ways of living that are in harmony and balance with the environment and the natural world.

The energetics of Pallas and Haumea synthesize well because they are both about equilibrium. Pallas resonates with the second chakra, which is our bioenegry gyroscopic center of balance. which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain. It governs the balance of the liver-spleen / masculine-feminine. Haumea's influence with Pallas tends to bring greater equilibrium to this neurology at deep levels within our consciousness from where automatic patterns of behavior emanate. Haumea-Pallas tends to accelerate this gyroscope, and in so doing, brings greater awareness to what is out of balance within self. This acceleration can stimulate more discordant behavior in the world for those unconsciously projecting their imbalances. For those seeking to mature emotionally and spiritually, it provides greater opportunity to become consciously aware of deeper imbalances within self and to address them and any any resultant behavior.

This synod's conjunction with the powerful herald Eta Carinae is a statement that we must birth a new paradigm—new and sustainable social, political, economic and ecological systems that work in equlibrium—over the immediate few years ahead or deal with potentially dire repercussions, which may leave us attempting to emerge from the rubbles of a decade of chaos.

The New Venus-Jupiter Synodic Cycle

This synod occurs in sidereal Cancer. The Venus-Jupiter cycle are of course much shorter than those created my Pallas due to Venus's faster orbital velocity around the Sun. Venus catches up to Jupiter every 236 days with the synods progressing about 18° through the ecliptic. Venus and Jupiter geocentrically conjoined in the previous lunar cycle—always a wonderful synthesis. Jupiter magnifies the qualities of Venus.

The astrophysical resonances of Venus govern the heart bio-energy centre (chakra), and the thymus, which is the neurological control center for the immune system. Like the thyroid (governed by Mercury) is reflexed to the liver, the thymus is reflexed to the spleen. The heart chakra is our centre of intuitive knowing, harmony, magnetic attraction, that which we value, love, romance, and sexual rapture. It is where we find our capacity for compassion and appreciation of beauty. Venus manifests in our lives as a force of attraction and receptivity. Our heart resonance defines the nature of what we allow into our lives. The more we radiate a clear, open and truthful heart resonance, the clearer our force of attraction becomes, thus naturally drawing into our lives that which fulfills the heart. The heart chakra and thymus resonate to the emotional tone of fear and judgment. It is fear that shuts the heart down and causes all immune related problems as well as conditions of lack and need. We defend our fear with judgment, which is the wall that keeps us separate from being fulfilled. The astrophysical resonances of Venus also govern heart musculature and firing, lungs, bronchiole, and breasts.

Venus (and the heart chakra), when mature and clear, expresses love in art and beauty, with a wonderful capacity for unconditional acceptance of all conditions—true, non-judgmental love. The unconditionally open heart receives and expresses love that is harmoniously balanced. Mature Venus is open to new experience, is courageous, optimistic, and aware of soul intent and purpose—as the unconditionally open heart is where soul fully radiates its light. Mature Venus is also sociable, fashionable, artistic, good willed, benevolent, diplomatic, and magnetically sensuous. Venus is also of what we value, thus influencing wealth and resources in our lives and she can play an influential role in financial matters and the flow of money. More about Venus.

Jupiter by NASA's Cassini spacecraft

Jupiter imparts a mobilizing and expansive force. It stimulates fluidity in movement, vitality and enthusiasm. It is of reciprocity—how we receive and re-express that which we have gained as gifts to the world. Jupiter expresses in openness and willingness to palpate and embrace life, people and experience. It imparts a kinesthetic and magnetic quality; and reveals our physical fitness, strength and coordination.

Jupiter motivates us to aspire for something larger in our lives, beyond our current bounds. Jupiter will tend to magnify and expand the qualities of any other planet that it conjoins. Jupiter is often associated with money and the flow of resources because Jupiter is a mobilizing force and money is a mobilizing agent.

Jupiter is of higher or natural law, as compared to man’s laws. It is of Spiritual Truth and stimulates action upon this greater truth. Jupiter is serendipitous, opportunistic, fortunate and lucky; with taste for and appreciation of elegance end beauty (along with Venus). It is fun loving, good natured, free and independent. Jupiter impels us to participate freely in the material world and to participate in universal flow. More about Jupiter, Jupiter cycles and Jupiter's family of Moons.

This synod occurs at the same location as our previous July 26 New Moon in the Egyptian Scarabaeus / Cancer the Crab. Conjoining stars include Al Tarf and Tegmine of Cancer; and Talitha, forefoot of the Great Bear. Also of influence is Praesepe, the Beehive star cluster.

This cycle brings the theme of the previous lunar cycle to heart and mobilizes and expands upon this theme throughout the next 236 days. It invites us to open our hearts, to become more receptive and more intuitive, and to mobilize that which is truly nourishing to our hearts and to those we love and care for. It may impel us to create more nurturing environments in which we live, or to relocate to new locations that are more nurturing to ourselves and to our families.

Excerpt from the previous July 26, 2014 Lunar Planner

This New Moon and lunar cycle impels us to create of establish a better vantage over our lives or those we may care for, or to establish better oversight over our daily affairs. It may impel us to move to more appropriate locations or expand our existing domiciles so they are more nurturing or protective. Jupiter's exalted influence impels us to create more independence in our lives and to emerge from our past modalities of living or family heritage into our own uniqueness of expression or way of living.

This lunar cycle may stir an impulse to take greater care of our selves and our families, and to make changes in our lives that make this possible. It may inspire the expression of our uniqueness in more genuine, open, and honest ways of participation, without dogma, defense or pretense. It may impel us to emerge from a complacent acceptance of our current lives or of mass-consciousness and collective belief structures, to become free thinkers in the interest of our greater wellbeing and to emerge into a greater light of being.

External Stimulus

Just before first-quarter moon, we draw an external stimulus to ourselves. This is some event outside of self occurring in our lives or in the world that impels a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This is a time when any fears or doubts hidden within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the I can’ts and the reasons why not is to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth. Many people drop the ball at this point in the lunar cycle. Don't be one.

Initiate Action

Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about. The inspiration is now gone, it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Remember, the flower that is about to burst forth from the bud is not yet visible. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. The creative tension brought forth by the external stimulus now shifts into opportunity and unfoldment. This is a time for practical application of your talents. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. What you are putting together now is the groundwork for the manifestation of the theme. Simply, this phase is a time to work.

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on September 2 in mid-sidereal Scorpio. The Moon, nesting between the legs of Ophiuchus, prominently conjoins Antares of Scorpio.

Marking the center of sidereal Scorpio is Antares, Alpha Scorpio, Heart of the Scorpion. Antares, is one of the "Four Royal Architects" along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Fomalhaut, each in their respective quadrants of the sky. Antares, the 15th brightest star, is about 700 times the size of our Sun, and is one of the largest stars. It is quite elongated with a polar diameter about 63% of its equatorial diameter, red in color, said to rival Mars in brightness when they are seen together.

In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, and with expounded meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (an arena common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with tenacious adamancy. This is especially in regard to taking a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.

However, It is only the less aware who mistake this power point in the ecliptic to mean fight or destroy what one still perceives as opposing forces outside of self. Antares expresses as immanence for those who have embraced their initiations and claimed their self-empowerment, who have graduated from playing the victim in life to a predetermined fate, and who have learned to take responsibility for their experience and their destiny. The Heart of the Scorpion teaches us to realize the inseparable nature of life, to reconcile the forces within and without, those of life and death, to know of the oneness and inseparable permeability of the Creation Force—as is exemplified by Ophiuchus, who demonstrably stands over the Scorpion, the exemplar of this wisdom and the higher octave of sidereal Scorpio. Antares impels us to take responsibility for our reality, for the lives we create, and to "take a stand" for wholeness and to demonstrably and passionately live it.

Directly opposite Antares in the sidereal center of Taurus is Aldebaran, eye if the Bull. The Aldebaran / Antares axis is indicative of political systems, their people, their opposing politics, business and teaching. Aldebaran holds and radiates vision for ideal physical logistics for authorities to put in place so as to aid the peoples of the Earth through evolutionary process and transition. Antares ensures that the current and accepted business and political systems, and our modes of living do not become static or antiquated. Antares ensures growth, evolution and change. If the Scorpion meets those bullheaded and stuck in their antiquated modality of life, the Scorpion’s sting is not far off—hence its classical association with rebellious and destructive forces. Antares keeps the vision of Aldebaran up-to-date by challenging authoritarian powers. When there are rebellious or terrorizing forces assaulting the established order, this reflects the need to realize that the established order is no longer supportive in ways that are truly nourishing to the needs of the people, and requires some type of reform—reform that if denied, may result in some level of, otherwise unneeded, destruction. Thus, Antares can also be associated with teachers as well as political or business leaders who are of a more non-conforming nature that tend to challenge that which is established belief, doctrine, or policy.

Antares stimulates the use of raw creative forces and use of power so that we can learn what is required for our true incarnational freedom and to become responsible creators of it. Although Antares defines the center of the sidereal sign of Scorpio, Antares lies about 4.5 degrees below the ecliptic, the body of the Scorpion swinging south, while Ophiuchus, the esoteric 13th ecliptical constellation, stands over the Scorpion, straddling Antares.

Standard - High-def

Ophiuchus is exemplar of one who has claimed mastery over the raw creative forces governing life and death. Ophiuchus embodies bringing this interplay of forces to a greater spiritual fulfillment. Thus, in its lesser expression (or with afflicted aspects), Antares can express simply as the violent rebel or annoying contentious antagonist, while in its higher expression (or with empowering aspects), as one adept with knowledgeable authority, spiritual prowess, and astute awareness.

Conjoining Antares to within a degree is Han (Zeta) Ophiuchus, Rho, Omega and Kappa Ophiuchus, and a Bright Reflection Nebula IC4603 in Ophiuchus. Zeta (Han) Ophiuchus is the star from which the left leg of Ophiuchus extends. Kappa Ophiuchus, north of the leg, marks the left shoulder of Ophiuchus.

The legs of Ophiuchus articulate emotional equilibrium, the stance from which he expresses his mastery. Han, Zeta Ophiuchus, and the stars forming the left leg of Ophiuchus, and Kappa, his left shoulder, impart the need to take personal responsibility to create an enduring personal transformation. Han also imparts a shamanistic warrior like quality.

Our First Quarter Moon can stimulate passionately driven action to change our selves or our ways of living that support our own spiritual metamorphosis and physical self-mastery in the world. It can also stimulate an outward directed expression to take a stand to change antiquated structural systems, especially in politics and business.

The Sun and Moon also aspect Jupiter, Pallas and Pluto, with the principle aspects being a Moon-Jupiter trine and the Sun-Pluto trine, making for an extra energetic and dynamic First Quarter Moon.

The latter part of the Flowering Phase, leading into the Pollinating Phase, requires perseverance to push through, to push open. Consistent application of your energies is a demonstration of your inner commitment to self. You are pushing through past limitations of self into a new level of self-confidence and integrating your greater potential with personal will. The flower bursts open on the Gibbous Moon.

This phase brings a strong desire to connect and involve with others. The outer and opposite is alluring. It is a time of exploration and involvement with others. Flowers not only blossom to reveal their beauty, but their functional purpose is to provide the pollination required to bear fruit. This interaction brings clarity of purpose and builds into the enthusiastic energy required for fulfiment. Communication and intermixing of energies is highlighted. The purpose is to be of value to each other, stimulating creativity. Share your vision and direction, what you have been working on. The 3 1/2-day Pollinating Phase is a social time, which will culminate on the Full Moon.

The Gibbous Moon
Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs on September 5 in early sidereal Capricorn. The Moon primarily conjoins Alpha and Beta Indus. Also of influence are Anser, Alpha Vulpecula, and the Pulsars PSR 1929+10 in Velpecula and JP 1933+16 in Aquila the Eagle.

The irregular shaped galaxy NGC-6822

Also called Bernard's Galaxy, NGC-6822 is one of the closest galaxies to our own Milky Way. This prototypical young irregular shaped galaxy is a giant star factory, like a giant campfire producing a myriad of sparks / stars. Image Credit: NASA, ESA and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA)

Early sidereal Capricorn is of hermetism, esoterism, magic, and various area of esoteric sciences and covert technologies, as well as the secret places and orders associated with such; places of personal retreat, seclusion, hermitages, but places strategic to one's purpose—including sacred sites or places of power unique to ourselves. We may also find motive to identify and move to such places as well.

It is also about our personal motive, privacy, personal desires, and the cloaks and facades we wear or present in the world. This is where the pure spiritual essence and principles common to late sidereal Sagittarius can either get converted into monotonous dogmatic doctrine or applied into an effective and applicable concretized form or practice. Here we have the support to actualize our ideals, but we are also faced with the aberrations or distortions of those ideals when doing so.

Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600's by German astronomer Johann Bayer of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).

Indus articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Australian Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, the Hawaiian Kahuna, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus’ adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.

Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our "places of power" that support our wellbeing and purposes in life. This also alludes to why military installations are often found on or near sacred sites, strategic locations on the Earthgrid.

Indus impels a deep respect for the land, for life, and is sensitive to a place's power and purpose. Alpha and Beta Indus impel the masterful expression of Indus. Alpha and Beta Indus conjoin Anser, Alpha Vulpecula, and they also lie under the auspices of Aquila the Eagle.

The Australian Aboriginal's extensive understanding of the heavens and application of astronomical movement was integral in their culture, indicating not only how to live in attunement to nature, like times to gather certain foods, but also indicating times for ceremonies. Aborignal astronomy is said to predate even that of the Babylonians, Chinese and Incan by thousands of years. The Aboriginal or shaman understands the intimate connection between the heavenly spirit world, the natural physical world, and the human world.

Vulpecula cum Ansere by Alexander Jamieson

Vulpecula cum Ansere by Alexander Jamieson
Celestial Atlas 1822

Vulpecula cum Ansere, the Fox with the Goose, is also a recent addition to the heavens, placed by Hevelius in the 1600s, but clearly articulates the nature of early sidereal Capricorn. It is described by Allen as "uncomfortably crowding, and jammed into the space between the Beak of the Swan (Albireo), and Sagitta the Arrow." It lies along the galactic equator directly over Sagitta, and amalgamates the theme of Albireo with that of Sagitta, with that of Algedi of Capricorn and that of neighboring Aquila as our war machine—all revealing the nature of the tools of business and war.

Vulpecula cum Ansere articulates the deep appreciation of the exquisite beauty found in nature, and also how it can quickly turn into an insidiously cunning and voraciously violent characteristic. Without the addition of Ansere (the caught goose), one might consider only the artful application of the high vision and ideals of Lyra in later Sagittarius into elegant form; or even the eloquent and artful play of seduction and consent by two parties, as elucidated by Albireo and the story of Zeus and Leda. But here, the taking can turn for personal desire without concern for the wellbeing or survival of another. In fact, a resultant death of another is implied. The real death is that of the high spiritual intent embodied in our earlier sign of high-minded Sagittarius resulting in the aberrations and confusions inherent when manifesting into the human mold and structures of the human world.

Vulpecula cum Ansere reveals the interplay of people in their sexy disguises: whether cloaked in the eloquent and sleek stealth jet particle beam laser based satellites; or merely dressed in seductive leather and lace. The Fox is indicative of the sexy, sly, cunning, covert maneuvers used to get the goose, and, as is most often the case, disguised to be something other than what it truly is to get what it wants. Anser, Alpha Vulpecula, imparts a artful, cunning and scheming quality.

Our Gibbous Moon stimulates an impulse to apply our higher ideals and visions into our environment through palpable and demonstrable form. It also impels us to integrate our ideals within self, to demonstrably express that integration through our physical form—to walk our talk. It inspires us to appreciate the inherent beauty of nature and elegance in physical form. It brings attention to our living environments and our need to establish harmony between the structures in which we live, the land, and the locations at which we live.

Considering the nature of our Antares First Quarter Moon and our Gibbous Moon, these energetics may also instigate heightened military or insurgent type action in the world.

The latter part of this phase, building up to the Full Moon, matures our efforts into vision and enthusiasm. It is the intermixing of opposites that creates the magic to bear the fruit of our passions. The day and night just before the Full Moon is the most potent, exhilarating energy—a dynamic social and alchemical time. The Full Moon marks the point of coition in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement, a time of celebration.

The day just after the Full Moon is a time to kick back and relax. This phase begins as if waking from a sleep. It is a time for the realization of the theme to emerge, of what the activities of the first half of the lunar cycle, culminating into the enthusiasm of the Full Moon, are really about. Relax and allow this realization to occur. There is no need to force it as it surfaces on its own.

The Full Moon

Full Moon

The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.

The Chiron Synod (Sun-Earth-Chiron alignment) occurs on September 7 (8 UT), just before the Full Moon as Moon conjoins Neptune, which then leads into the Chiron Full Moon, occurring on September 8 (9 UT).

The Centaurs are somewhat rogue and radical in nature, believed to have entered into the realm of our outer solar system from the outside. Since the Centaurs do not have their own strong orbital resonance, they generally have unstable orbits and are greatly influenced by the orbital resonances of the larger planets, and thus synchronize with the orbits of the larger planets, acting as unique escorts from one planetary realm to another.

Chiron classically is “The wounded Healer,” and acts as a bridge or escort between Saturn and Uranus. Chrion can express in a variety of ways depending upon its chart placement. Chiron can indicate where personal healing is required, and/or it may indicate where a bridge is to be created and crossed, either from established, structured and crystalized patterns (Saturn) to radical new possibilities (Uranus), or to bring new discoveries and new levels of consciousness into concretized form. Prominent alignments with Chiron can indicate involvement in the health-care or healing arena, or involvement with discoveries and new technologies or modalities applied in this and related areas.

The Chiron Full Moon in Aquarius

The Earth-Chiron synod is about 10° past Neptune in sidereal Aquarius. It and the Full Moon conjoin Achernar of Eridanus; Ankka of the Phoenix; Homam of Pegasus; Beta Horologium; and Phi and Psi of Aquarius.

Achernar marks the end of Eridanus, the river of life. Achernar is of fulfillment, completion, integration, and rewards from what has been gained from the long and winding journey in life (such as in the completion of a project, a leg of a journey, or of life itself). Achernar also supports engaging upon a yet a greater work beyond was already undertaken. Having paid our dues, it may support movement into a new level or greater flow of an existing venture.

Ankaa, Alpha Phoenix, is the lucida of the Thunderbird. Ankaa embodies the essence conveyed in the symbol of the phoenix rising from the ashes of the trials of the long and winding road in full illuminated glory. In another mythical imaging, Ankaa is the talisman upon the staff of the high priest-scientist Aaron, brother of Miriam and Moses. The Ankh / Ankaa is emblematic of a soul's journey, a mission begun long ago. It is Aaron’s amulet of power—having claimed the wisdom and fulfillment from the journey. Ankaa is also the emblem of Universal (Uranian) Love.

Homam, Zeta Pegasus, a fortuitous star, is "lucky star of the hero," also "lucky star of the high-minded man." Homam, on the neck of Pegasus imparts somewhat of an ambitious warrior spirit. It inspires a strong inner drive to find a solution to our physical needs by surmounting our obstacles. Homan inspires us to emerge, to reach forward, to find a passage beyond our apparent limitations. It inspires achievement and success.

Beta Horologium, of the pendulum clock, conjoins Homam and adds an additional element to the theme here. Although we may have completed a leg of life or may have arrived to some solution, Beta Horologium reminds us that there is still finite time to continue onward to reach our destination or achieve our objectives. Conjoining Delta Sculptor brings us a choice, or makes apparent there is more than one way to forge ahead and to sculpt our future.

Our Full Moon brings our Leo/Sextant lunar cycle to its culmination. There may be a sense of impending time, yet also optimism for nourishment, fulfillment and a prosperous future. It provides inspiration to rise from the ashes of the past and to get on with it, to move forward, to cultivate the lives that lead to our fulfillment. It brings inspiration to move into a greater flow or involvement in life. The Moon-Chiron conjunction brings attention to our need for healing the wounds incurred from our journeys so far, as well as to the work yet to be done to create a bridge into a new world paradigm and a society based upon humanitarian principles. A key message our Chiron Full Moon brings is to use the power of the wounds of the past to create the inner healing required to move into a greater wisdom and freedom of being. This is in contrast to defending or justifying why we are wounded to start with or in positions less that what we feel is rightfully ours. This is also the essence of our new annual Earth-Chiron synodic cycle, which will fully engage on the November 22, 2014 New Moon as Chiron returns direct. (Note also the Grand Trine Kite and the Yod to Uranus.)

Movement & Participation

The latter part of this phase shifts rapidly. A sense of urgency is felt. It is a time to bring forth the fruits of our actions. On the day before the Disseminating Moon, it is as if there is more to do than there is time for. It is a time of much commotion with last minute details seeming to appear from nowhere. Keep cool and accelerate, making those last-minute preparations. A birthing is at hand.

Manifestation & Demonstration

This is a time for the fruits of our labors to manifest and for lessons to become tangible. Whether the fruit of this cycle is in the form of inner growth or outer manifestation, it is that which will support the true nourishment of ourselves and others. Share your fruit. This is a time to give forth that which was learned or created, and to receive the same from others. Demonstrable expression and the imparting of our gifts anchors into the structure of our consciousness the self-empowerment gained from this Lunar Cycle.

The Disseminating Moon
Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on September 12 in sidereal Aries, at the head of the ram. Conjoining stars include Mesartim and Sharatan of Aries; Alpha Fornax and the Fornax-A Galaxy; and Angetanar of Eridanus.

Sharatan, Mesartim and Hamal of Aries form the head of the ram. Sharatan, the Beta star of the Ram, one of the horns, and Mesartim, the mouth of the ram, are portents of an applied force to change. They support new beginnings, adventure, transmutation and great rewards; but they are of opportunities that may quickly open and close, and thus require our immediate response to grasp them without hesitation when they occur. Sharatan provides a sign that it is a time to take action or to create change; but also provides a warning that headstrong pursuits from arrogant righteousness or adamant denial can perpetuate the human cry in the initiatory fires of life. Either way, these stars impel us to initiate personal action to take the lead in our individual lives.

South of the ecliptic lies Fornax, the Furnace that provides the transmutational fire while in the initiatory experiences along our journeys in life. Fornax provides the fire fueling the alchemical process of turning lead to gold, mortal to god. Alpha Fornax is the lucida (brightest star) of this southern constellation. Nearby is Fornax-A, a spiral galaxy of the Fornax Galaxy Cluster that provides the intense heat under initiatory Aries.

Our Demonstrable Moon impels us to embrace our initiations in the fires of life, to not deny our struggles and human needs, and those of others. It invites us to move forward, not to escape or force an outcome, but with the acceptance and the willingness to feel in the moment. As the saying goes, the way is through. Seize the moment as hesitancy at this time may result in opportunities lost.

Re-equilibrating Relationships

Juno Lunar Nodes T-Square September 2014

Juno, asteroids of relationships and partnerships of all types, has been approaching its T-Square to the Lunar Nodes over the last couple weeks bringing Juno related issues to a crisis point, demanding they be addressed. The crescendo of this event occurs just before the Full Moon of September 8 through the Last Quarter Moon of Sept 15, and completes as the Moon conjoins Juno on September 18, just before the Balsamic Moon. The Balsamic Moon conjoining Jupiter, occurring on September 18-19, then mobilizes and sets free any changes being made throughout this time, but which will not fully engage until the start of the next Lunar Cycle occurring on Sept 24. This all began brewing in the previous Lunar Cycle due a long standing square between Juno and Pallas, peaking on Aug 2.

In the midst of this T-Square, Juno also creates a Grand Trine with Chiron and the Ceres-Vesta-Saturn conjunction, creating an open doorway to step through for the changes catalyzed by the Juno-Lunar Nodes T-Square. See the Chiron-Full Moon chart and the Chiron Full Moon summation above.

Juno and Vesta maintain a very close trine from August through October, peaking with a fraction of a degree orb throughout the last two weeks of September.

Juno is the asteroid of covenant relationships and soul colleagues. Juno is not only of personal relations, but also those of a business and economic nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one’s life. There is an acceptance of another’s truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses in mutual support and unconditional love to allow each other to grow and change through whatever issues surface.

At a personal level, Juno’s placement in the astrological chart is one of several points that determine the types of significant relations drawn into our lives and the nature of issues we may face in those relations. Juno's placement specifically reveals the nature of the compatibility we seek, that is, what is important to us regarding our partners. Because Juno is where we deal with our inferiority / superiority complexes, and if this issue is prominent, partnerships drawn in earlier life can be full of lessons regarding such issues and not much else. Once a certain level of emotional maturity is attained within self regarding any related issues, we draw partners that are more compatible or true soul level covenant partners. This does not mean we still do not grow regarding Juno issues, but there are those individuals with which we may also have a mutual soul bond and mission to pursue together.

Potential Juno issues (an immature Juno expression) can manifest as superiority / inferiority complexes, power struggles, control issues, jealousy and possessiveness, betrayal, contention and standoffs, one-up-man-ship, invalidating others, lack of self confidence, dictating behavior, and a variety of other inequality issues. More about Juno.

Key themes:

Uranus-Eris-South Node: radical spontaneous progressive change; breaking away from the conformity of the past, perhaps catalyzed by unexpected disruptive events occurring in relationships, like the overturning of an apple cart. Past patterns can be those of a radical undermining nature.

Juno square the Lunar Nodes is the issue or what needs to be resolved. Issues to address are those regarding inequality in relationships, mutual respect, etc., and making any required changes in relationships and partnerships of all types, willingly or perhaps catalyzed by the South Node's unexpected events. Juno invites us to look at how we are participating in our relations and with our allegiances, those personal and those international, to address the patterns of the past and to move toward the North Node theme.

Mercury-Pallas-North Node: Establishing a greater equality and social justice in relations though communication, resulting in new level of artful expression of creative intelligence and a new level of equilibrium in relationships. Also establishing a new foundation in relationships that is in greater equilibrium and beyond conflict from which a clearer level of creative expression can emerge. Also see Pallas.

Overall, there is impetus to move from the South Node theme to the North Node theme, with the issue surrounding inequalities in relationships. This can result in relationships breaking apart with new ones forming, or simply as motivation to re-equilibrate our existing relationships or to establish greater clarity and balance in how we interrelate.

Juno trine Vesta: August through October: Emergence of a new level of focus, commitment and dedication in relationships. Juno-Chiron Vesta Grand Trine: healing of past issues in relations as a means to create a bridge into a new future with a clearer and more focused purpose of intent. See the Chiron Full Moon above, and also Vesta.

Last Quarter Moon Phase CharacteristicsLast Quarter Moon Last Quarter Moon
Characteristic just BEFORE the Last Quarter Moon
Ending the Harvesting Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Inner Need

This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Acknowledging the needs we feel surfacing on the inner is essential to create the changes in our lives on the outer. This inner recognition provides the challenge to do so. There is impetus to withdraw from the activity of this entire cycle, to emerge from the stage setting that served our intended growth. Remember that others are having their inner needs as well! Demanding others change is not the solution to our well being. This is a good day for quite time. Allowing mutual space and sharing our realizations with mutual respect supports all parties.
Characteristic just AFTER the Last Quarter Moon
Beginning the Cultivating Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Initiate Change

It is now time to plow under the crops so they may become the fertilizer for the next cycle. It is time to let go of any vested interest or attachment to the experience of the Lunar Cycle and to the stage props that served our growth. This is a transformational time, a time for personal change. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. This is a time of departure, of walking away from that which is no longer nourishing and to prepare the soil of our lives for that which is. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Not making the realized changes keeps ourselves bound in a circle of old patterns of growth; changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.

Last Quarter Moon
Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on September 15 (16 UT) toward the end of sidereal Taurus, in the horns of the Bull. Conjoining stars include El Nath and Al Hecka of Taurus, and Bright Crab Nebula Super Nova Remnant M1; Meissa Orion, Alnilam in the Orion's belt, the Great Orion Nebula Ensis; and Beta Pictor.

The Crab Nebula

The Moon lies between the ecliptical longitudes of El Nath and Al Hecka, although south of the ecliptic, closer to Al Hecka and the Crab Nebula.

El Nath and Al Hecka, the latter at the cusp of sidereal Taurus / Gemini, lie over the head and belt of Orion, and south of Auriga, the charioteer. The horns embody the pursuit, struggle and engagement in the physical world.

El Nath, Beta Taurus (also shared with Auriga as Gamma Auriga), is the north horn the Bull. El Nath motivates tenacious perseverance for accomplishment. It inspires the drive to achieve a breakthrough. El Nath is of a worthy pursuit for our future freedom.

Al Hecka, Zeta Taurus, the south horn, is of stalemates, standoffs, and brick walls—fighting old and antiquated crusades—particularly of a religious-political nature—and blindly or automatically continuing the fight out of habitual pattern even though the original purpose behind what we were fighting for is long gone. Al Hecka can express as beating one’s head against the wall, a relentless and futile pursuit. Al Hecka brings attention to when the accomplishment pursued is of a time no longer applicable—the time to surrender the physical struggle and move onward into a field of mutual cooperation.

The Crab Nebula

The Crab Nebula - Image Credit: ESO

Alignments with the Horns ask us to discern the difference between causes of worthy pursuit verses those driven from antiquated motive. They can produce either type of experience depending on the exactness of the alignments to one horn or the other, as well as a blend of both qualities—thus the need to discern whether tenacious perseverance is required or if is time to simply let the struggle go. This is the true bullhead few degrees of Taurus, which can produce one who is driven, insistent, contentious, even forceful—for either the North Horn or South Horn theme.

The massive supernova occurring on July 4, 1054, now the Crab Nebula, documented by Chinese and Arabian observers, was visible for 23 days in broad daylight. It was six times brighter than Venus and was only outshone by the Sun and Moon, taking a year to become invisible. 1054 AD is the year of what is known as the Great Schism between the Eastern and Western (Orthodox and Catholic; Greek and Latin; Byzantine and Roman); when a decisive split occurred between the Roman and Orthodox Churches with the Orthodox Church rejecting the papal authority from Rome. This Supernova’s energetic blueprint adds a significant energetic time-stream to the South Horn theme, adding the momentum of past that feeds those fighting antiquated crusades today.

Orion's head, Meissa, along with Betelgeuse and Bellatrix

In the constellation, Orion's head is represented by the star "Meissa" or "Al-Maisan," meaning "the shining one" (fuzzy red dot in middle). When viewed in infrared light, NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) shows a giant nebula around Meissa, inflating Orion's head to huge proportions. The bright blue star in the lower left corner of the image is Betelgeuse. In visible light, Orion's other shoulder is clearly marked by the variable star Bellatrix. In infrared light, however, Bellatrix is a somewhat unremarkable cyan-colored star in the right side of the image. Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/UCLA

Beneath the Bull's Horns resides Orion, the Hunter or Impious Wanderer; along with Messia, Lambda Orion, which marks his head, the belt stars of Orion; and Ensis, the Great Orion Nebula M42 along with Trapezium, a quadruple star nesting within Ensis. Orions are industrious and architectural, often of grandiose extravagant projects. They are also known for going off on their own crusades without consideration of Divine Directive—hence the name "impious wanderer," and are often willing to battle to the death for their causes. The stars of Orion in general impart a dynamic enterprising and entrepreneurial spirit.

Meissa, Saiph and the conjoining stars of this part of Orion, the Horns, and those or Auriga, impart a strong, self confident, dignified, reliant and responsive character. They can bring success through enterprising business and commerce. Classically the stars of this area of Orion have a kingly attribute bringing wealth and significant civil or military honors.

Southern Beta Pictor reveals a new picture is emerging or can emerge from the ethers but that there is a physical process requiring perseverance and patience for it to manifest.

Our Last Quarter Moon impulse asks us to discern that which is driving our pursuits. It invites us to consider if we are butting our heads against a wall pursuing futile struggles or antiquated involvements (and wars), driven merely from the momentum of the past, or if breaking this antiquated pattern is appropriate by choosing new enterprising paths ahead. Thus, we should make any changes in our lives accordingly.

The New Mars-Pluto Synodic Cycle

The Mars-Pluto synod occurs on September 16 in sidereal Sagittarius initiating a new 2-year synodic cycle. The synod conjoins Nunki and Ascella of Sagittarius.

Mars is an expressive and initiating creative force. Mars is of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self reliance, and victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, or when poorly placed in a chart, Mars can express as the awry or ballistic use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (sacrum, base chakra, adrenals sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people—due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life; hence often dubbed the planet of war. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality / base chakra of self—alienating it even more.

Valles Marineris, the Grand Canyon of Mars

Soaring high above Valles Marineris, the "Grand Canyon of Mars," viewers look down and catch a sight resembling parts of the desert West of the United States, but on a vastly greater scale. Here the canyon averages over a hundred miles wide, and its floor is heaped with rocks, sediments, and landslide debris. Within the canyon walls lie possibly hundreds of layers filling many pages of Mars' geologic record. Image & Caption Credit: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona

Pluto is a freeing and opening force; a pattern disrupter and deprogrammer. Pluto is independent, individual, and autonomous; an extremist, isolationist and loner; a revolutionist, and is non-accepting of limiting conditions. For a younger immature soul, Pluto can express as a controlling arbiter, however Pluto will ultimately make one face their own controlling issues. For an older mature soul, Pluto can be a valuable ally when worked with consciously, freeing us from antiquated behavioral patterns. Pluto's chart placement can indicate where we need to let go or surrender programmed patterns from early childhood and from previous incarnations. Pluto can bring up fears associated with survival, death and transformation; the fear to be alone, to let go, to release or to let die. Pluto brings attention to our attitude and issues we hold about authoritarian control and use of power, how we attempt to control and how we respond to such control.

Pluto demands that we take responsibility for our entrapments in life and deal with the longer-term ramifications of our actions and life scenarios—and our karmic responsibility, extending beyond a mere lifetime. Pluto also demands that we address how we co-participate and cooperate with humankind in our daily lives from an all-embracing global perspective. More about Pluto.

Nunki, Sigma Sag, (and Phi of Sagittarius at the Archer's hand), marks the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted focus, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to achieve our goals. Nunki imparts eloquent fluidity of form in movement and a sense of being in the flow, and impels the expression of one's full potential.

The Spiral Galaxy NGC 6744 in Pavo

Ascella, Zeta Sagittarius, is a binary star system, and is the third brightest star in Sagittarius. Although, traditionally meaning the armpit, or more succinctly, the junction of the archer's shoulder and the outstretched arm holding the bow, along which the archer takes aim, Ascella lies more so at the breast or heart of the Centaur, slightly south of Nunki. The two stars are about one degree in ecliptical longitude, thus tightly conjoined. Ascella embodies the Archer's power of intent, the truth within from which he lives. Ascella imparts a warrior type quality.

Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transferred into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articulates the combined qualities of vision and high ideals with the inherent force of intent applied with undaunted focus to achieve our goals. There must be movement / velocity for the fletching of an arrow (Nunki) to steer the arrow’s course. Thus we must not only access our intent of purpose, but we must move it, apply it with focused deliberation through conscious action from a place of stability and confidence to transform our intent of purpose into the manifestation of our greater ideals and visions.

Several star qualities amalgamate around the Zen Archer's hand holding the taunt arrow: Nunki (Sigma), Phi, Ascella (Zeta), Tau, Nu, and Xi of Sagittarius. This is the warrior's core energy in its full potential, drawn and ready to release, provoking action that is life supportive—hence Sag is the spiritual warrior. This location marks the central core essence of the Archer, a point of equipoise and balance. It impels us to align all of the light fibers of our being into a coherent whole and focus that totality in controlled action.

Ascella and Nunki also conjoin and lie over a semi-circle of stars and the Coronet Star Cluster forming Corona Australis, the Southern Crown, which is protected by the Zen Archer. They include Alphecca Meridiana (Alpha), Beta and Gamma of Corona Australis. Corona Australis, considered an auspicious constellation, had been in existence since time immemorial. It is associated with the "Laurel Crown," a sign of victory, as worn by the Greek god Apollo—and hence the name Laureate. Corona Australis embodies the wisdom of alchemy—of using natural forces to manifest a higher order or achieve a higher purpose, ideal or goal. This is an alchemical process; one initiated by evocation. This articulates why these stars tend to elevate the Mars-Pluto synthesis.

The Mars-Pluto synod and new 2-year cycle continue to motivate tremendous strength, determination and assertiveness to live for and to uphold a higher truth emerging in our world as the veils cloaking the cover-ups of manipulative and controlling people in positions of authority are dismantled.

Sun Virgo

The Sun enters sidereal Virgo on September 18 UT.

Ending the Cultivating Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Coalescence into Essence

The latter part of this phase results in coalescing all that was experienced in the cycle into its essence, into its seed form. It is a reflective time looking back over the past, of extracting and assembling what was learned from the cycle, claiming its true wealth and wisdom. This is a great time to explore what we learned in the context of the new moon theme. It is this seed essence which is of true value to our greater growth. This seed will sprout in the next Lunar Cycle of growth and unfoldment, and morph into the next Lunar Cycle's theme.

Beginning the Seeding Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Focus to the Future

Our focus now turns toward the future. We now turn away from looking back over the past cycle completely and begin to look ahead, preparing for and anticipating the future cycle to come, to a new step to emerge in our Lunar Path of Fulfillment. The seed is planted. It is time to let it germinate. Completing any lose ends is appropriate, or to move into a new position for the next cycle to unfold. Here we make the field of all possibilities smooth and clear, ready for the new sprouting to occur.

Balsamic Moon
Focus to the Future

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on September 19 (20 UT) conjoining Jupiter in sidereal Cancer. The Moon lies over and conjoins the stars of Hydra's Head, Epsilon, Eta and Sigma. Jupiter, 2° away, conjoins Acubens of Cancer and Zeta Hydra. All lie under the auspices of Dubhe of the Great Bear.

Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak, (Beta) of Ursa Major, expressing through later Cancer, are the pointers to Earth’s current North Star, Polaris of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor. They bring attention to caring for the young and impel us to seek a greater vision for future generations to come.

Dubhe, the principal star in this area of the heavens, impels us to pursue a greater vision beyond the accepted political-religious dogmas of the human world that keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe impels us to emerge from our own personal belief structures and limiting life patterns that keep us bound in life scenarios that are less than those we truly want. Dubhe inspires us to do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for our lives—for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek. Dubhe supports us to strive for a new and better future rather than merely staying reactive to the limitations we have already created and reinforce with our existing beliefs.

M67 open star cluster in Cancer

M67 is an open star cluster in the constellation Cancer. One of the oldest known such clusters, M67 was believed to be an amazing 10 billion years old. New estimates, however, fall below 4 billion years, still quite old but younger than the current winner NGC6791, at 7 billion. M67 contains approximately 500 stars within its 12 light-year diameter and is located some 2500 light-years away. This full color image was created from nine images taken in the BVR pass-bands at the Burrell Schmidt telescope of Case Western Reserve University's Warner and Swasey Observatory. The Burrell Schmidt is located on Kitt Peak, near Tucson, Arizona. The images were taken in January 1997.

Image and Caption Credit: Nigel Sharp, Mark Hanna/NOAO/AURA/NSF

Acubens, Alpha Cancer lies next to the open star cluster M67, composed of about 500 stars, one of most ancient star clusters known. Acubens and M67 expresses as a long established heritage, lineage, inheritance, birthright, or something passed down through generations. Acubens impels a need to protect, collect and nurture, also to hide and shelter, the essence of the Crab. Acubens can also articulate our entrapment in dogma. This can be the current political / religious beliefs of the times, as well as that created by our personal belief structures—the ideas we have about our lives and the experiences we have in our lives—often inherited. Acubens can impel a tenacious and stubborn resistance to release the patterns we hold that keep us entrapped in limiting life scenarios.

Zeta Hydra lies immediately south of Acubens. Delta through Zeta Hydra and Pulsar CP0834 create Hydra's head. Zeta Hydra and surrounding stars indicate a multifarious undermining source of destruction (every time Hercules took off one the Hydra's heads, it immediately grew another). The conjunction of Acubens and those forming Hydra's head reveals that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures, which are not easily eradicated.

Southern Tureis (Rho) of Puppis, in Argo Navis, impels us to lift our selves to a higher vantage point and to use our visual sense to see the undermining currents and patterns in our lives—and to breath when they do emerge. They also indicate the need to apply that which we may have inherited in a way that serves our greater evolutionary freedom and true nourishment, to apply it toward a greater vision, articulated by overseeing Dubhe of the Great Bear.

Thus, the seed of this lunar cycle coalesces our Leo-Sextans Lunar Theme. Our Jupiter-Balsamic Moon brings motivation to mobilize and expand upon the Dubhe-Acubens-Hydra theme: to do all we can to achieve a greater vision for the evolutionary freedom and fulfillment that we seek—freedom from the dogmas, both collective and personal, that keep us entrapped in our patterns of the past and in an old world paradigm. On the global scene, this can stimulate wide-sweeping movement toward governments by the people to evolve a new vision that is truly nurturing to the people, a vision that supports their greater freedom and wellbeing rather than tenaciously adhering to methods of government that serve special interests and clandestine plans to control and manipulate the masses.

The New Venus-Orcus Synodic Cycle

A Venus-Orcus synod occurs on September 20, just a few hours after the Balasmic Moon and just before the Equinox, initiating a new 225-day synodic cycle. Orcus was presented with the New Moon. This synod's location is the same, with Orcus in the Sextant. The Venus-Orcus synods progress only slightly in the ecliptic due to Venus' fast orbit and Orcus' very slow movement. The Venus-Orcus synodic cycles tend to produce rather subtle and harmonious evolutionary currents due to the harmonious orbital parameters of both planets, nonetheless currents that support us to become more receptive to and integrate our deeper hearts' truth with soul purpose through an inner intuitive process—a theme that is occurring for more and more people as time goes on. The Venus-Orcus synods in this area of the heavens impel a reorientation of our collective evolutionary direction to effect positive change in the world from this level of heart and soul-centered awareness.

Pluto Direct & The Equinox

Pluto completes its retrograde a few hours before the September 22 Equinox. Pluto and retrograde Uranus are now in a ~4° orb to their square, which will now begin to tighten as we approach the sixth of the seven geocentric Uranus-Pluto squares, which occurs in mid-December, just as Uranus comes to its station.

The September Equinox has a similar characteristic to a Last Quarter Moon (a 270° square) in a lunar cycle, arousing a time to initiatie change in the annual solar cycle.

The Equinox occurs on Sept 23, 2014 2:29:04 UT (Sept 22, 7:29:04 PM MST).

The Sun & Makemake

The Sun conjoins the Dwarf Planet Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh) hours before the New Moon and as the Moon conjoins Venus, bringing our lunar cycle to a close. I will present Makemake in the following Lunar Planner since the New Moon conjoins Makemake.
