Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

Lunar Cycle Overview

Our January 20, 2015 New Moon occurs just as Mercury stations to begin its retrograde. Stars setting the theme for this lunar cycle include Alpha and Beta Indus; Alberio, the beak of Cygnus the Swan; Anser of the Vulpecula the fox; Alpha and Beta Sagitta, the missile of Zeus; and Altair, Eye of the Eagle, which is the overseeing star of this area of the zodiak. All of these very diverse stars amalgamate to form the complex zodiakal energetic expressing through this New Moon.

This area of the zodiak articulates a diversely-intented group of individuals and associated levels of consciousness, those either covert, manipulative and driven from self-interest (as the character of the old business & military paradigms), and those spiritually aware, of integrity and who are attuned to the land and the environment, including shamans and keepers of sacred knowledge and sacred ways.

This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, fanaticism, obsession, and passion. Although driven from personal interest, it is often of those with broad global vision. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery; cloaks often used as strategic tools to serve one’s deeper hidden motive.

Early sidereal Capricorn is of hermetism, esoterism, magic, and various areas of esoteric knowledge and science, also of covert technologies as well as the secret places and orders associated with them. These can include military-scientific-extraterrestrial bases, hermitages, exclusive retreats, or isolated places with a spiritual focus—including sacred sites or places of power under the care of their mysterious stewards, or merely places of personal retreat and seclusion—but places strategic to one’s purpose. We also find an arsenal of strategic tools (technological or magikal), to either aid or control humanity as well as the skill to use them; and this includes our personal tools and assets.

This is also where an eloquent and artful play of seduction and consent co-exists; but also one that can be insidiously cunning or even voraciously consuming. Hear lies the nature of the tools of business and war: the interplay of people in their sexy disguises, whether cloaked in the eloquent and sleek stealth jet or particle beam laser based satellite, or merely dressed in seductive leather and lace. Microscopic discernment is required to see through the alluring facades inherent in this world of mystery, esoteric knowledge, personal motive, and covert maneuvers, to identify what is truly nurturing verses what just tantalizingly appears to be so.

Our New Moon stars impel us to concretize our visions and ideals into demonstrable form. They impart a desire for independence and motivate independent pursuits, generally for personal gain, whether for material gain, for position or advantage in life, or for greater personal knowledge and understanding. They inspire intellectual curiosity, inquisitiveness and discovery of that which is hidden, but most of all, they impel us to examine and clarify our own personal motives that formulate our lives.

Juno and Jupiter, both in their synchronous retrogrades, begin new annual synodic cycles with Earth amongst the stars of the Egyptian Scarabaeus, our modern Cancer the crab. These synods set in motion underlying currents that are a part of an expansive redefining process occurring in relationships and in how we interrelate. These cycles feed into the emergence of a new Juno-Jupiter 7.7-year cycle that begins in March 2015 under the Head of the Lion and fully engages in May 2015. See: Relationships & The Juno-Jupiter Synchronous Retrogrades.

A new Mercury 116-day cycle begins at the same time as the Earth-Juno cycle, due to a Sun-Mercury-Earth-Juno alignment. This creates a compounded energetic that adds a strong emphasis to redefining communication, logistics, negotiations, agreements and contracts within relationships and partnerships of all types, especially throughout this lunar month.

Venus engages a new 326-day cycle with Mars, conjoining fortuitous Algenib of the Great Square of Pegasus and Erakis, the suprgiant Garnet Star in Cepheus. Venus and Mars will then make three conjunctions over the next few months starting in the next lunar cycle, due to the upcoming Venus retrograde, which will occur under the Head of Lion. These three conjunctions (occurring in February, September and November), all of which are very unique, nest within the energetic of the Venus-Mars Algenib-Erakis cycle and augment its outer expression in our lives. Venus-Mars cycles create a dynamic evolutionary current within our selves and within our relationships. This specific cycle, along with the subsequent Venus retrograde and three Venus-Mars conjunctions, impel us to make significant transitions in our values and in the outward creative actions we take based upon those values. Venus also begins new cycles with Uranus and Eris following the Venus-Mars synod.

Overall, this is a very progressive lunar cycle engaging dynamic evolutionary currents throughout the year ahead that should free up, or shake up, what has been held in stasis by accelerating pioneering change.

These are but a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

The New Moon

Our January 20, 2015 New Moon resides in early sidereal Capricorn. Altair, Eye the Eagle, is the principal overseeing star of this area of the zodiak, with its companions Tarazed and Alshain. Also conjoining are Alpha and Beta Sagitta, the missile of Zeus. North of Sagitta is Anser of Vulpecula, the fox, and further north is Albireo of Cygnus. South of the ecliptic are Alpha and Beta of Indus.

Altair, eye of the eagle, is of global and extraterrestrial vision, and of the balance of power. Altair inspires us to perceive from a global perspective, not merely from a local, isolated view, but with a focus of precision detail. Classically, Altair is of assertive authoritarian militaristic leadership, of military force and power. In more esoteric terms, Altair is also of extraterrestrial Earth-based operations and involvement. Friend and siderealist Andrés Takra adds: "Altair has been associated with kings, emperors, conquerors, tyrants, politicians, but also with mystics, occultists, and wise spiritual hierophants of mystery-religions."

Cygnus the Swan lies in the northern heavens along the galactic equator. It is also called the North Galactic Cross. Albireo, the beak of Cygnus, reaches from Sadr, the heart of the Swan at the Aquarian cusp. Sadr is of soul-level self and relations, whereas Albireo is of incarnate-level self and refers to our physical expression and the gender of the bodies we ware—the facades of the soul in the incarnate world. Albireo is of sexy and alluring disguises, cloaks, facades, appearances, masks, makeup, costumes, those that are unconsciously or deliberately used to get what we think is nourishing to personality-level self.

Vulpecula cum Ansere, the Fox with the Goose, articulates the deep appreciation of the exquisite beauty found in nature, but also how it can quickly turn into an insidiously cunning and voraciously consuming characteristic. Without the addition of Ansere (the caught goose), one might consider only the artful application of the high vision and ideals of Lyra in later Sagittarius into elegant form; or even the eloquent and artful play of seduction and consent by two parties, as elucidated by the Swan (Alberio) and the story of Zeus and Leda. But here the taking can turn into personal desire without concern for the wellbeing or survival of another. In fact, a resultant death of another is implied.

Surrender & Play

The end of this phase is also the end of the entire Lunar Cycle. It leads into the next New Moon. The day before the New Moon is a time to surrender in order to allow the next Lunar Theme to sprout in its purity. Let go of all fears, worries, and self-judgment. Become empty. This is a great time to just play and have fun.

Expressing a New Theme

A new theme emerges. A new idea, a new concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, a spontanious message, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen. A simple word or phrase may pop into your mind during this quite time describing the new lunar theme in a way that is unique to you, or perhaps a simple feeling or knowing will come over you. The ability to listen, honor and trust the inner is all that is required at this time. The ideal time to attune to your New Moon theme is exactly as the New Moon occurs, or at sunrise after the New Moon if the New Moon occurred during the night.

New Moon Star Chart

Vulpecula cum Ansere reveals the interplay of people in their sexy disguises and is indicative of the sexy, sly, cunning, covert maneuvers used to get the goose, and, as is most often the case, disguised to be something other than what it truly is to get what it wants. Anser, Alpha Vulpecula, the star of concern here, is the goose. Anser imparts a beautiful, artful, cunning and scheming quality, but also articulates the potential of being snagged by seduction or coercion.

Sagitta, the Missile of Zeus, extends over the first part of sidereal Capricorn as well, just under Vulpecula. Sagitta embodies our strategic arsenal of tools—whether applied for war or peace—this includes our personal tools to accomplish our goals in the material world. South of Capricorn are the stars of Microscopium, which impart a highly detailed focus and intelligent investigation with pin-point accuracy.

Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600's by German astronomer Johann Bayer of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).

Indus articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Australian Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, the Hawaiian Kahuna, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus’ adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.

Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our "places of power" that support our wellbeing and purposes in life. This also alludes to why military installations are often found on or near sacred sites, strategic locations on the Earth. Indus impels a deep respect for the land, for life, and is sensitive to a place's power and purpose. Alpha and Beta Indus, of influence here, impel the masterful expression of Indus.

The first several degrees of sidereal Capricorn impel us to seek independence and are of independent pursuits. They impel a need for privacy, distance and space, and the motive to explore one’s power as an individual. Pursuits are for personal gain whether for material gain, for position or advantage in life, or for greater personal knowledge and understanding. This energetic is of intellectual curiosity, is inquisitive, research oriented and is extremely discriminating. It also imparts a tendency toward hermeticism, mysticism, and involvement with esoteric artsciences, and with the secret places and orders associated with those artsciences.

This New Moon brings attention to that which we have established in our lives, or wish to, and if it is truly nourishing to self and to others. It also impels us to examine our underlying motives that drive our behavior and the actions we take, and that mold the facades we present in life. It asks us to question if these things are supportive and contributing, or oppressive and diminishing, to ourselves and to others. It also brings attention to the locations in which we live or base our pursuits from, and if they are fundamentally nurturing to our physical wellbeing and supportive of manifesting of our true desires.

Because of the personal focus in this area of the zodiak, this New Moon can also impart somewhat of a covert or secretive tone, even deceptive, although this can merely be a desire for peace, safety, and privacy. It can also refer us to that which is indigenous, to heritage and to inheritance, even to ceremonial expressions based upon established societal structures of belief. It brings attention to our relationships and the bonds we establish in our lives, those between each other and those with the land. It is about our relation to life and the relationships that form and support our lives.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury begins its retrograde on January 21 just as the Moon and Mercury conjoin. Mercury’s retrograde begins in late sidereal Capricorn and completes in earlier Capricorn, conjoining Altair of Aquila, near the location of our New Moon. Mercury retrogrades provide opportunity to redefine all that is logistical and methodical within ourselves and in our lives—including all forms of communication. This is a wonderful time for evolving our communication skills and for clearing issues we may hold within ourselves that distort our highest expression in life. They are also a great time for writing, evolving plans, negotiating, and the like. This specific retrograde amongst the stars of Capricorn are especially favorable for negotiations regarding business, politics, publishing and law—in any areas where legalities are formulated, agreed upon and concretized. A new Earth-Mercury 116-day cycle begins in the midst of the retrograde when the Sun, Mercury and Earth align. Mercury returns direct later in this lunar cycle on February 11, just before Last Quarter Moon.

Mercury also conjoins Vesta during its retrograde, impelling an examination and clarification of the patterns and experiences that formulate our motives, which drive our expressions, behavior and pursuits in the world. Mercury and Vesta also conjoin after Mercury's retrograde, impelling a new focus of intent based up the clarifications we have made during the retrograde.

Releasing Restricting Patterns

Just prior to the first Crescent Moon, we can realize the opportunity for growth that the Lunar Cycle has to offer. What surfaces now is: How I would have done this in the past, the old or established ways, based on past experience. Here we have the opportunity to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns, much like sluffing off the protective sheath of a seed now beginning to sprout, as that sheath would only limit the unfoldment of the new theme and our own growth. The Crescent Moon marks the time when the theme would like to grow into a more expansive form. By consciously honoring, accepting in love, and letting go of our old concepts, we allow ourselves to move forth into the expansive growing phase of the Lunar Cycle.

Expanding upon the Theme

This is a time when the currently held vision begins to expand into a greater form. New possibilities of unfoldment would like to grow—possibilities not realized before. This 3 1/2 day Growng Phase is a time of engaging our creativity and integrating it with the original theme, identifying its unique and full potential. It is a time of allowing a realistic and achievable plan of action to evolve, a time of inspiration, and a time to have faith in ours creative process.

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

Lyra Harp of the Angels

The Crescent Moon occurs on January 23 conjoining just past Chiron in late sidereal Aquarius. The Moon lies over and conjoins the stars forming the flowing stream from Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer. Also conjoining is Fum al Samakah, which is the Beta star of Pisces, and which means mouth of the fish, extending from the circlet of stars on cuspal Pisces into Aquarius.

This latter part of the constellation of Aquarius is more about the dissemination and application of resources, and the people applying them. This also includes the environments and tools, from artist’s studios to scientific laboratories—articulated by southern Sculptor.

Further south are the stars of the Phoenix, which impel human achievement, to rise from the ashes of the past, from the failures and trials encountered in our lives, and to achieve breakthroughs and success in these pursuits. In the northern heavens are the fortuitous stars forming the head of Pegasus. All of these stars are of achievement and success. They impel us to lift and elevate, to make possible that which otherwise would not be without humanitarian or altruistic support.

In contrast to our New Moon, which is very much of a personal focus, with militaristic overtones, our Crescent Moon brings inspiration to apply our personal efforts and resources in ways that aid humanity, especially through the arts and sciences. It inspires giving and bestowal in ways that help others move forward to cultivate lives that lead to greater fulfillment. It can also bring inspiration to move into a greater flow or involvement in life.

This is an area of the zodiak where the constellations of Capricorn and Aquarius overlap, thus creating a blend of the two qualities. Here, the zodiakal quality inspires us to surrender our focus upon the mundane needs of our personal families and our need to control or define how things should be, and to open to a transcendent guidance that leads to our greater fulfillment and that is inclusive of our soul-level relations and extended soul families.

External Stimulus

Just before first-quarter moon, we draw an external stimulus to ourselves. This is some event outside of self occurring in our lives or in the world that impels a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This is a time when any fears or doubts hidden within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the I can’ts and the reasons why not is to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth. Many people drop the ball at this point in the lunar cycle. Don't be one.

Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about. The inspiration is now gone, it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Remember, the flower that is about to burst forth from the bud is not yet visible. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. The creative tension brought forth by the external stimulus now shifts into opportunity and unfoldment. This is a time for practical application of your talents. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. What you are putting together now is the groundwork for the manifestation of the theme. Simply, this phase is a time to work.

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on January 26 (27 UT) in sidereal Aries. Conjoining stars include Hamal of Aries; Schedar of Cassiopeia; Phi and Xi of Andromeda, Apin of Triangulum; Delta Cetus, and the Fornax Galaxy Cluster.

This area of the zodiak is predominately about the Royal Family, created by King Cepheus, Queen Cassiopeia, and their daughter the princess Andromeda, which all lie north of the ecliptic. Cetus lies just south of the ecliptic with its body submerged in the waters of Pisces and with its neck and head reaching up onto the shores of Aries. Further south is Eridanus, the River of Life; and Fornax the Furnace.

The stars of the King and Queen often depict individuals in positions who are able to aid, are affluent and have authority. There are two primary expressions of the King and Queen. One is pompous, arrogant and pretentious, with an air of denial to matters deemed to be beneath them. The other is beneficent, generous, wise and compassionate, willing to aid others in lesser positions or who need assistance. Which is dominant, or both, depends upon one's level of life experience, emotional maturity and spiritual awareness.

In the story of Andromeda and Royal Family, Princess Andromeda was chained to the rocks by the sea to be devoured by Cetus the Sea Monster. This was due to Queen Cassiopeia's boastful and arrogant claim that her daughter was more beautiful than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea. Poseidon responded by sending Cetus to ravage the shores of Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. Cepheus was advised to sacrifice Andromena to Cetus as the only way to appease Poseidon. Andromeda, although inheriting this unfortunate sentence, has a far greater and fortuitous destiny awaiting her. Perseus eventually kills Cetus and frees Andromeda. Perseus and Andromeda marry and go on to create a city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world.

Schedar, Alpha Cassiopeia, marks the head of the Queen. Unlike nearby Caph, which imparts a stern yet gentle, guiding and stabilizing force, Schedar imparts somewhat of a prideful and arrogant tone, often caught up in the glitter of being in a position of power upon the human stage. Immature challenge and boast can express here with ramifications only accentuating the drama of the tightening jaws of fear-based collective consciousness (Cetus) and the butting response provided by the head of the Ram.

Sharatan, Mesartim and Hamal of Aries form the head of the ram. Hamal, Alpha Aries, is the butting head of the Ram, and also the shepherd teaching us how to lead. Hamal reveals that the struggles we face in the physical world are due to attempts to forcefully direct our lives or those of others. Such attempts are generally based upon a separatist, judgmental, and righteous me-against-them attitude, which often leads us deeper into the initiatory fires of life—provided by Fornax the Furnace).

Hamal and Schedar can express as power struggles amongst leaders or those who are headstrong, with lessons about how arrogance creates struggle in the material world; and how compassion opens the way through.

Apin of Triangulum invites us to be open to new possibilities about how our destinies can unfold, to realize that if we surrender the tension that upholds the apparent limitation in front of us, greater forces can work in lives that open pathways otherwise blocked. Divine forces are at work guiding our lives, far more powerful than our limitations, blunders, and efforts. To believe in and see this is to find the golden triangular corridor of light that is Triangulum—the way through the initiatory fires of life. It is only this that makes possible that which, from a mere mortal’s perspective, may seem to be just a dream.

South of Triangulum and conjoining Apin is the Fornax Galaxy Cluster. The NGC 1365 Spiral Galaxy marks the center of the Fornax cluster of galaxies and provides the initiatory fire while in the whale (Cetus) of human experience.

Our external stimulus Moon impels assertive action for attainment or to achieve a greater level of freedom. At the same time, there is a need to surrender any righteous or judgmental attitudes we may hold about what we have or do not have, or about the positions in life that we may or may not occupy. It invites trust and openness to allow greater forces to work in our lives, rather than blocking them with dualistic thinking that keeps us bound in separation from that which we seek.

The Compounded Earth-Mercury-Juno Synod

Earth-Mercury cycles are about 116 days. The Earth-Juno cycle is 1.25 years. These cycles start on January 29-30. The stars setting the themes of these cycles are found in mid-sidereal Cancer. They include Asellus Bor and Aus of Cancer; Delta Hydra and the Hydra Pulsar CP0834; and Gianfar and and the Quasar 1133+704 in northern Draco. This is also Jupiter’s exalted location in the ecliptic.

The Surface of Mercury

The Surface of Mercury - NASA

Mercury is an expressive and intellectual force. It drives our need to organize, rationalize, categorize, and assemble our world into a coherent understanding. It is the significator of the intellect. It governs our sequential and logistical processes, our learning and reasoning abilities, our mental focus and concentration, our language skills, reading and writing, and our communication skills, how we speak and articulate. Mercury effects some motor skills associated with coordination and dexterity; and governs the neurological system, mental processes and memory.

Juno is the asteroid of covenant relationships and soul colleagues. Juno is not only of personal relations, but also those of a business and economic nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one’s life. There is an acceptance of another’s truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses in mutual support and unconditional love to allow each other to grow and change through whatever issues surface.

At a personal level, Juno’s placement in the astrological chart is one of several points that determine the types of significant relations drawn into our lives and the nature of issues we may face in those relations. Juno's placement specifically reveals the nature of the compatibility we seek, that is, what is important to us regarding our partners.

Potential Juno issues (an immature Juno expression) can manifest as superiority / inferiority complexes, power struggles, control issues, jealousy and possessiveness, betrayal, contention and standoffs, one-up-man-ship, invalidating others, lack of self confidence, dictating behavior, and a variety of other inequality issues. More about Juno.

Cancer and Hydra's Head

Asellus Aus. and Bor., the southern and northern stars that create the ass of the Crab, also called the two donkeys (associated with nearby Praesepe, the manger), can indicate antiquated patterns, personal and collective dogmatic belief structures, and sticky modalities of being that perpetuate stasis. Classically they are considered to be unfortunate stars with a somewhat stubborn (I would say sticky) nature. They can stimulate a desire to nourish and fortify, but also to accumulate to such a degree that one can get self-consumed.

Placements here can bring up fears about letting go that are bound in our belief patterns and those of collective consciousness. They can bring our attention to the possibility of being lost in our own mental obscurations—in the reasons why not to move onward or why not to change—caught in the dogmas of life, whether personal or collective.

Delta through Zeta Hydra and the Pulsar CP0834 create Hydra's head. Hydra's head articulates a multifarious undermining source of destruction. (Every time Hercules took off one of Hydra's heads, it immediately grew another. (See Lernaean Hydra.)

We can consider Pulsar CP0834 to be the brain of Hydra. This pulsar does not lie along the galactic plane as most pulsars, and so may influence our biological personality workings and primordial response more so than being a guiding beacon for the soul. It may reinforce our repetitive, monotonous, subconscious patterns that perpetuate stasis—that part of ourselves that undermines our ability to change. However, it can also make visible those patterns that we need to change. Either way it is a constant reminder that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures; and that we need to apply conscious deliberate effort to change the underlying cause, not treat the rearing symptoms.

CP0834 has a fundamental frequency of 0.785075095881 Hertz, which translates to 6781.8Å (Red) and 3390.9Å (Near UV) in the visible light spectrum. This resonance engages physical behavioral and musculature patterns, as well as our brain's frontal lobe, which in part governs our capacity to see alternative paths and to move forward from the neurologically ingrained patterns of the past. This pulsar's harmonic also cross-resonates with Saturn's circumference harmonic, which can manifest as long standing behavioral patterns that perpetuate stasis or rigidity—hence our need to become consciously aware of our repetitive behavioral patterns and have the conscious deliberation to change.

Conjoining Hydra's head is northern Gianfar, Lambda Draco, on the tail of the Dragon, and the Quasar 1133+704. Gianfar, the poisoned place, is of neurological currents, specifically those emanating from "poisons of the heart" that manifest cellular patterns within ourselves that relentlessly destroy that which we touch through endless battering of our courage, optimism, and strength—destroying us through sheer exhaustion. Here we are asked to realize how unresolved bitterness or resentments of the heart can perpetually avert us from the fulfillment we seek.

Quasars are enigmatic. They are found at extreme distances from our own galaxy. They radiate a power level greater than our galaxy and are believed to be extremely old. The term Quasar (Quasi-stellar Radio Source), coined in the 1960s, is now an antiquated description, but the name is still used. Quasars are now believed to be active galaxies. They are similar to normal galaxies except two highly potent beams of radio emissions radiate from the top and bottom of the galaxy’s disk. Generally, we can associate Quasars with an ancient and mysterious creative power. They inspire exploration of alternatives outside of our current realm of experience.

Quasar 1133+704 of Draco inspires us to look at our undermining behavioral patterns from alternative viewpoints that we might not normally consider. It and Gianfar invite us to explore any inner fears that may tie us to the past and that keep us from living our heart's truth in the present, so we can emerge from antiquated and ingrained neural-net patterns and establish new and alternative neural pathways.

These stars articulate our need to mobilize greater spiritual and physical principles, and to take bold expansive action to address any entrapping conditions that may be very deep rooted—otherwise a mere combative approach simply antagonizes the onslaught. They also indicate a fortuitous opportunity to mobilize and expand upon an inheritance or heritage. This energetic, expressing throughout both cycles, will be a prominent theme specifically manifesting in areas of communication and logistics in relationships of all types, those of a personal nature and those in business and politics. It inspires movement and expansion from conditions of stasis. It is also a key energetic current that will feed into the new Juno-Jupiter 7.7-year cycle that begins in March and fully engages in May 2015.

This phase brings a strong desire to connect and involve with others. The outer and opposite is alluring. It is a time of exploration and involvement with others. Flowers not only blossom to reveal their beauty, but their functional purpose is to provide the pollination required to bear fruit. This interaction brings clarity of purpose and builds into the enthusiastic energy required for fulfiment. Communication and intermixing of energies is highlighted. The purpose is to be of value to each other, stimulating creativity. Share your vision and direction, what you have been working on. The 3 1/2-day Pollinating Phase is a social time, which will culminate on the Full Moon.

The Gibbous Moon
Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

Our Gibbous Moon occurs early on January 30 on the cusp of sidereal Gemini. Conjoining stars include Al Hecka of Taurus; Saiph of Orion; and Wezen of Columba.

El Nath and Al Hecka, the latter on the cusp of sidereal Gemini, lie over the head and belt of Orion, and south of Auriga, the charioteer. The Horns embody the pursuit, struggle, and engagement in the physical world. Placements with the Horns ask us to discern the difference between causes of worthy pursuit verses those driven from antiquated motive.

El Nath, Beta Taurus, the north horn the Bull, motivates tenacious perseverance for accomplishment. It inspires the drive to achieve a breakthrough. El Nath is of a worthy pursuit for our future freedom. Al Hecka, Zeta Taurus, the south horn, is of stalemates, standoffs, and brick walls—fighting old and antiquated crusades—particularly of a religious-political nature—and blindly or automatically continuing the fight out of habitual pattern even though the original purpose behind what we were fighting for is long gone. Al Hecka can express as beating one’s head against the wall, a relentless and futile pursuit. Al Hecka brings attention to when the accomplishments pursued is of a time no longer applicable—marking the time to simply move onward.

Saiph of Orion enters the ecliptic a bit before Betelgeuse and marks the right leg of Orion. Saiph inspires enterprising and dynamic action to create opportunistic solution through daily activity in the world of commerce and communication. Saiph impels responsive and resourceful action in mutual cooperation and communication an, imparts a strong, self confident, dignified, reliant and responsive character.

In keeping with the nature of the evolutionary currents expressing in this lunar cycle and throughout the year ahead, our Gibbous Moon inspires progressive movement from antiquated pursuits and involvements. It also inspires expansive movement in relations of all types, providing we are willing to let go of the past and move on into a new world paradigm struggling to emerge.

The new Venus-Mars Synodic Cycle

Venus and Mars begin a new 325-day synodic cycle on January 31 in Pisces. Conjoining stars include Alpha and Beta Lacerta and Alpha Reticuli. Also of influence is Algenib of the Great Square of Pegasus and Erakis, the Garnet star in Cepheus.

Venus is the Roman name for the Greek Aphrodite, goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Venus has also been called the "jewel of the sky" and "Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus as the evening star." Other names for Venus include: the Babylonian Ishtar; the Syro-Palestinian goddess Ashtart; the Aztec: Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli (meaning "Lord of the House of Dawn."), an apparition of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent; and the Mayan Kukulcan (Venus was the Mayan patron of warfare, with several battles coinciding with significant Venus alignments). Image: Aphrodite (circa 100 BC): Found on the Aegean island of Melos in 1820.

The astrophysical resonances of Venus govern the heart bio-energy centre (chakra), and the thymus, which is the neurological control center for the immune system. Like the thyroid (governed by Mercury) is reflexed to the liver, the thymus is reflexed to the spleen. The heart chakra is our centre of intuitive knowing, harmony, magnetic attraction, that which we value, love, romance, and sexual rapture. It is where we find our capacity for compassion and appreciation of beauty. Venus manifests in our lives as a force of attraction and receptivity. Our heart resonance defines the nature of what we allow into our lives. The more we radiate a clear, open and truthful heart resonance, the clearer our force of attraction becomes, thus naturally drawing into our lives that which fulfills the heart. The heart chakra and thymus resonate to the emotional tone of fear and judgment. It is fear that shuts the heart down and causes all immune related problems as well as conditions of lack and need. We defend our fear with judgment, which is the wall that keeps us separate from being fulfilled. The astrophysical resonances of Venus also govern heart musculature and firing, lungs, bronchiole, and breasts.

Venus (and the heart chakra), when mature and clear, expresses love in art and beauty, with a wonderful capacity for unconditional acceptance of all conditions—true, non-judgmental love. The unconditionally open heart receives and expresses love that is harmoniously balanced. Mature Venus is open to new experience, is courageous, optimistic, and aware of soul intent and purpose—as the unconditionally open heart is where soul fully radiates its light. Mature Venus is also sociable, fashionable, artistic, good willed, benevolent, diplomatic, and magnetically sensuous. Venus is also of what we value, thus influencing wealth and resources in our lives and she can play an influential role in financial matters and the flow of money.

Mars is an expressive and initiating creative force. Mars is of sexuality, vitality, life force, and power. In its mature expression, Mars stimulates our capacity to respond in assertive action. It is of leadership, self reliance, and victorious. It is audacious, brave, instinctual, passionate and willful. For the less mature, or when poorly placed in a chart, Mars can express as the awry or ballistic use of power, lack of self-control, abuse in all if its forms, and with selfish motive and greed that is based in the fear of not surviving or not being provided for. The Mars aspect of self (sacrum, base chakra, adrenals sexual organs) is the area generally held in most judgment by many people—due to this force having been used destructively and manipulatively in the history of the solar system resulting in aberrations and devastation of life; hence often dubbed the planet of war. Because of this, total rejection and lack of love is often projected toward the Mars quality / base chakra of self—alienating it even more.

Valles Marineris, the Grand Canyon of Mars.

Soaring high above Valles Marineris, the "Grand Canyon of Mars," viewers look down and catch a sight resembling parts of the desert West of the United States, but on a vastly greater scale. Here the canyon averages over a hundred miles wide, and its floor is heaped with rocks, sediments, and landslide debris. Within the canyon walls lie possibly hundreds of layers filling many pages of Mars' geologic record.

Lying over the first half of sidereal Pisces is the Great Square of Pegasus. The Great Square holds the mystery (knowledge) of the metamorphosis of the physical body into light. Theses four stars impel us to rise from our primordial past into our destined evolutionary fulfillment, to become more through our human experience. Each of these stars brings emphasis to four specific realms or elements essential for our metamorphosis.

Algenib of Pegasus marks the tip of the horse’s wing. Algenib is a fortuitous star and marks the center of sidereal Pisces. Algenib is of the breath, air, oxygen and sunlight, which oxygenate the waters of life, which is necessary for us to breathe while in the emotional waters of life. Agenib brings attention to the importance of breathing, how we breathe, and the quality of what we breathe, as well as to the importance of full-spectrum sunlight. Algenib brings inspiration to lift ourselves above Cetus, the techno bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, that is, above the psychic-emotional fear-based realm of life. This does not mean in denial of it, but to refine the entire spectrum of self, our mental, emotional and physical density, so as to become vibrationaly light enough so we do not get entangled or caught in the tempestuous dramatics of human life.

Conjoining Algenib are Alpha and Beta Lacerta in the northern heavens, which mark the head of the Lizard and embody knowledge about the application of primal forces. Alpha Reticuli conjoins from the very southern heavens. Alpha Reticuli is the foci of the reticule, the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity, the underlying rhomboid or diamond. Alignments with Alpha and Beta Lacerta and Alpha Reticuli stimulate the reptilian brain, governing our instinctual behavior, and the core resonance of the human DNA, which also indicates how the human DNA is receptive to electromagnetic forces, and also susceptible to technological and psychic manipulation. They impel learning how to master our instinctual abilities.

Lacerta the Lizard and the Garnet Star of Cepheus

Further north and conjoining Algenib is the Supergiant Garnet Star, Erakis. Most people naturally tend to notice the bright stars of Cepheus when looking into the heavens, but the blood-red Garnet Star of Cepheus is often missed—a beauty, especially through binoculars. Similarly, we miss seeing the opportunity for attainment or solution when only watching the obvious around us.

The Garnet Star lies at the head of King Cepheus forming a triangle with Alderamin and Zeta Cepheus. Erakis imparts a quality of royalty, prominence, largeness, passion, prosperity, abundance and wealth; and the appreciation of such. Erakis exemplifies the role or crown of the King—to protect and govern without being lost in wealth’s glamour or the emotional drama of the world. As a supergiant star (about 1420 times our Sun's radius), Erakis imparts a significant astrological influence along with fortuitous Algenib, especially regarding financial affairs and opportunities. Erakis inspires us to see opportunity for attainment beyond the obvious limitations and entrapments we may face. Erakis also brings emphasis to the administration of financial matters, and to the control and dispensation of wealth and resources in the world.

Venus-Mars cycles create a dynamic current within our selves and within our relationships. They generally have to do with the integration of the receptive feminine qualities and expressive masculine qualities. Mars is an outward focused force, impelling action to expand and to move away from our central core. Venus is a receptive force and tends to impel us toward our heartlight, to our values, what we feel passionately about. When Mars is dominant, whether within self or in our society, we act without our inner intuitive awareness and from a place of darkness, which can express as an awry and ballistic use of creative power without concern for the nourishment of our own inner light or that of others. If Venus were dominant without Mars’ active expression, we would become passive and submissive—living in Pleasantville—with little desire for outward growth and creative expansion. When these forces work in equilibrium, they support each other. Venus’ receptive and intuitive force supports a healthy and mature expression through creative action. Actions taken are harmonious, based upon healthy values. They build and nourish our inner heartlight. The common phrases, follow your heart, or act on your heart’s truth, very much describes the alignment of these two forces.

This specific Venus-Mars cycle is especially favorable to lift and elevate our values and the creative expression of those values above the psychic-emotional turbulence and entrapment common to collective human consciousness. It is also favorable for financially related matters or pursuits that serve to set free and elevate what had previously been restricted in currents of the past.

This synod in sidereal Pisces emphasizes financial issues in relationships from an emotional-based perspective. Venus is exalted in sidereal Pisces, thus she (heart and values) expresses dynamically and independently with confidence. Fiery Mars is somewhat subdued and passive in this aquatic area of the zodiak, thus more prone to go with the flow of Venus. Thus, this placement brings additional emphasis to act from our intuitive, heartfelt, receptive (listening) nature.

The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some is a New World for those who realize it is.

This Full Moon occurs on February 3 and nests between retrograde Juno and Jupiter. The Moon prominently conjoins Dubhe of Ursa Major. Also conjoining are Acubens of Cancer, Zeta Hydra and the Quasar 3C206 in Hydra. This is slightly past the location of the Earth-Mercury and Earth-Juno synods.

Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak (Beta) of Ursa Major, expressing through later Cancer, are the pointers to Earth’s current North Star, Polaris of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor. They bring attention to caring for the young and impel us to seek a greater vision for future generations to come.

Dubhe, the principal star in this area of the heavens, impels us to pursue a greater vision beyond the accepted political-religious-big-business dogmas of the human world that keep humanity in darkness and delusion; and against the controlling global forces perpetuating that dogmatic rule. At a personal level, Dubhe impels us to emerge from our own personal belief structures and limiting life patterns that keep us bound in life scenarios that are less than those we truly want. Dubhe inspires us to do all we can to achieve the greater vision that we hold for our lives—for the true nourishment, fulfillment, and freedom we seek. Dubhe supports us to strive for a new and better future rather than merely staying reactive to the limitations we have already created and reinforce with our existing beliefs.

Acubens, Alpha Cancer lies next to the open star cluster M67, composed of about 500 stars, one of most ancient star clusters known (~10 billion years). Acubens and M67 expresses as a long established heritage, lineage, inheritance, birthright, or something passed down through generations. Acubens impels a need to protect, collect and nurture, also to hide and shelter, the essence of the Crab. Acubens can also articulate our entrapment in dogma. This can be the current political / religious beliefs of the times, as well as that created by our personal belief structures—the ideas we hold about our lives and the experiences we have in our lives—often inherited. Acubens can impel a tenacious and stubborn resistance to release the patterns we hold that keep us entrapped in limiting life scenarios.

Zeta Hydra lies immediately south of Acubens, a part of Hydra's head. The conjunction of Acubens with the stars forming Hydra's head reveals that the repetitive undermining experiences in our lives are manifest from our own tenacious belief structures, and they are not easily eradicated, much like pealing the layers of an onion to get to its core.

Associated Quasar 3C206 of Hydra, one of the brightest & closest quasars, suggest that although our dogmatic beliefs can take rather strange and unexplainable forms, they are not outside the realm of our own creation. They are however laser-like in their power; and when overcoming the symptom of one underlying pattern, that pattern can emerge again merely in another symptomatic form. The underlying patterns must be addressed not just their symptoms. Quasar 3C206 reminds us to not be naïve to the powerful momentum of our beliefs and the undermining behavioral patterns they can create. This quasar tells us to not turn our backs on that momentum, to know it may take more than one attempt to overcome our dogma's tenacity.

These conjoining stars indicate that to overcome the undermining and relentless manifestations created by our behavioral patterns requires perseverance to eradicate the very beliefs we hold that crystallize that which repetitively undermine achieving our greater fulfillment.

Our Full Moon brings our early Capricorn lunar cycle to its culmination. It brings perspective to our personal pursuits and to our motives driving our actions in the world. It reveals our need to do all we can to achieve a greater vision that supports the evolutionary freedom and fulfillment that we seek—freedom from the dogmas, both collective and personal, that keep us entrapped in patterns of the past and in an old world paradigm. On the global scene, it impels us to evolve a new vision that is truly nurturing to the people and that supports our greater freedom and wellbeing rather than tenaciously adhering to methods of government that serve special interests and clandestine plans to control and manipulate the masses. It also bring emphasis to the theme of the Jupiter-Juno synchronous retrograde—to redefine and mature how we interrelate, both in our personal relations and international relations.

The Venus-Uranus Synodic Cycle

The Sun, Venus and Uranus align on February 5 in sidereal Pisces. This Venus-Uranus cycle is 227 days long. Venus-Uranus synods progress only by a couple of degrees through ecliptic because Venus catches up to Uranus rather quickly as it orbits the Sun, thus the themes of these cycles shift rather gradually.

Uranus - Keck Observatory

Uranus (Image Credit: Keck Observatory)

Uranus' placement in the chart reveals where and how we break from the conformity of the past. Uranus is radical, spontaneous, and electrical. It supports the expression of our uniqueness and originality.

Uranus, in its clear and evolved expression, brings the ability to spontaneously change and to create new frontiers in experience and consciousness. It is the true pioneer, uninhibited by convention and establishment (Saturn). Uranus inspires the expression of our unique individuality in radical confidence. Uranus instills a future-orientation and humanitarian focus; and embodies quickness and alertness of consciousness often producing a lightning-like creative mind when prominently aspected. Uranus provides an ability to work with higher orders and principles—providing a higher-mind prowess for telepathy and all super-consciousness functions and mechanisms. Uranus instills an appreciation of excellence and perfection. It is the applier of the higher sciences and inspires new discoveries in technology and consciousness.

Uranus in its chronic expression can manifest as fear to change, to be spontaneous, or to take radical steps. It can express as judgment of other’s uniqueness and gifts, or of one’s own eccentricities and uniqueness; which covers a fear of being accepted or rejected, of being persecuted, and thus expresses as seeking sameness as a means for gaining acceptance. It can manifest as expressing other’s truths and philosophies rather than one’s own. An acute or hyper Uranian energy can express as instability, erraticism and hyperactivity, with an inability to follow through—ungrounded electrically.

Associated bio-energy centers include: Nervous system and higher brain centers—mental ability, prefrontal and frontal lobes (capacity for forward thinking and to envision new alternatives); neurological and synoptic circuitry, bio-electrical and light impulses.

This synod primarily conjoins Alpheratz, Alpha Andromeda, one of four stars of the Great Square of Pegasus. Alpheratz is the head (psyche) of the princess in chains. Alpheratz is unadulterated, innocent, naive, uncorrupted by evil, wrongdoing or malice; and holds a position of extraordinary honor and advantage. This star often portends success and riches through social popularity and achievement.

Although the stage setting in which Andromeda is trapped (chained to rocks about to be devoured by Cetus) seems complex, there is a prerequisite for her freedom—an inner metamorphosis, an emotional maturing into the readiness to receive aid and become free. Often time, we are ready to change only when in the chains of the human struggle. And our inner readiness precedes receiving support to change. Forceful attempts to break free before we are ready only tighten the chain of bondage. Here lies our need to break free from the human mold, from the genetic, cultural, and personal pattering forming our lives. The stars of Andromeda articulate the struggle for freedom from the collective and tormenting forces of the psycho-emotional human world, to claim our true galactic birthright and evolutionary destiny. Alpheratz's fortuitous position ultimately brings success and reward in this worthy pursuit.

Venus-Uranus cycles are generally about seeking independence of the heart, of creating change in our lives to fulfill our hearts' passion. They can also impel a change of heart, to break away from limiting involvements that are no longer fulfilling. This cycle inspires us to make changes that free us from any mental-emotional turmoil or entrapments, those that keep us from a greater fulfillment in life. This cycle and the few to follow can also involve financial issues, to seek ways for greater financial freedom, or in contrast, to break free from involvements that may provide financial freedom but do not fulfill heart's true passion. It also impels us to think freely and progressively rather than acquiescing to limiting or entrapping mentalities.

The New Jupiter Synodic Cycle

The Sun, Earth and retrograde Jupiter align on February 6 beginning a new 396-day Earth-Jupiter cycle. This synod occurs slightly past the location of the Full Moon, but also conjoining Dubhe of the Great Bear, thus with a very similar theme—here to fully mobilize greater visions that support our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment—to expand into a new world paradigm. The Earth-Juno cycle and this Earth-Jupiter cycle merge with the Juno-Jupiter syodic cycle that begins in early March 2015. From Earth’s view, Juno and Jupiter will be near the end of their retrogrades. Juno completes its retrograde on March 13 and Jupiter completes its retrograde on April 8, when all of these energetics begin to externalize in our lives, and again in early May when Juno and Jupiter conjoin, which should be refreshingly mobilizing and expansive for relationships of all types. Ref: The Juno and Jupiter Synchronous Retrogrades. This Jupiter cycle is exalted and thus extremely favorable for expansive, dynamic and independent pursuits. It impels us to release our attachments to old pursuits based upon limiting beliefs that keep us separate from greater independence and fulfilment. It impels us to expand our awareness and our pursuits in ways that embrace that which appears separate and beyond our current realm of experience.

This is a time for the fruits of our labors to manifest and for lessons to become tangible. Whether the fruit of this cycle is in the form of inner growth or outer manifestation, it is that which will support the true nourishment of ourselves and others. Share your fruit. This is a time to give forth that which was learned or created, and to receive the same from others. Demonstrable expression and the imparting of our gifts anchors into the structure of our consciousness the self-empowerment gained from this Lunar Cycle.

The Disseminating Moon
Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on February 7 (8 UT) in sidereal Virgo. The Moon conjoins Beta Coma Berenices, Zaniah of Virgo and Turais Carina of Argo Navis.

Zaniah, Eta Virgo, is an ecliptical star, less than 2° north in ecliptical latitude. Zaniah is also the Chinese "Left-hand Maintainer of Law" (Allen). Zaniah inspires the "right use of will" directed by soul-level impulses and unadulterated by personality or egoic-level influences. Zaniah impels right action and participation in the here and now, moment-by-moment. Zaniah embodies the essence of the Virgin’s purity—to become a clear vessel and to know right action. Zaniah imparts a feminine quality.

Conjoining Zaniah in the northern heavens is Beta Coma Berenices. This star, in a galaxy rich area of the heavens, emphasizes our need to apply personal will according to our spiritual / soul guidance, which expresses through the magnetic forces of nature, in the messages provided by the world around us. Beta of Coma impels the administration and application of our spiritual guidance in our physical lives.

The Antennae Galaxies

The Antennae Galaxies "One of the first images from the new VIMOS facility, obtained right after the moment of "first light" on Ferbruary 26, 2002. It shows the famous "Antennae Galaxies" (NGC 4038/9), the result of a recent collision between two galaxies. As an immediate outcome of this dramatic event, stars are born within massive complexes that appear blue in this composite photo, based on exposures through green, orange and red optical filters." Image & Caption Credit: ESO

Conjoining Zaniah in the southern heavens is Turais Carina and Phi Velorum, both of Argo Navis, which lie along the galactic equator, and thus are more associated with our longer-term soul-level sojourn and evolutionary course. Turais (Aspidiske) is a rather rare white supergiant star that shines with a luminosity of 4900 times our Sun, with a radius estimated to be about 40 times that of our Sun.

Galactic Turais and Phi Velorum puts ecliptical Zaniah's "right use of will" into a greater evolutionary context, one with cosmic ramifications that extend throughout spacetime. Our acts of will are not isolated, cut off and limited to the moment itself, but extend into the past-future time-stream of the soul influencing the continuous cosmic currents in soul's greater evolutionary journey in ways that are unseen in the action moment.

Turais asks us to extend our awareness into this time-stream, while Zaniah inspires clear action in the moment from soul's and nature's guiding influence. Thus each action moment is one punctual droplet of many composing a continuous time-stream that formulates the path or wave upon which soul travels. Turais invites us to recognize our actions extend into and influence not only the nature of our own lives, but also the lives of others, effecting the meandering currents in an ocean of being. They set up resonances in spacetime that define the nature of experiences yet to come for our selves and in the evolutionary journey of all involved.

This is not to be confused with attempting to be responsible for others or to define their experience—which is a miss-use of will. The responsibility is for our active and conscious participation from the clarity of our spiritual soul-level guidance expressed in action. Turais demands we act from the awareness of our greater evolutionary journey and adds a sense of "cosmic responsibility" for what is "put into motion" through Zaniah's "right use of will."

Our Demonstrable Moon brings inspiration to attune to and live from our greater spiritual/soul guidance, and to apply that guidance though demonstrable action with consideration for the long-term ramifications for all life and for the transcendent effects rippling through time and space.

Inner Need

This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Acknowledging the needs we feel surfacing on the inner is essential to create the changes in our lives on the outer. This inner recognition provides the challenge to do so. There is impetus to withdraw from the activity of this entire cycle, to emerge from the stage setting that served our intended growth. Remember that others are having their inner needs as well! Demanding others change is not the solution to our well being. This is a good day for quite time. Allowing mutual space and sharing our realizations with mutual respect supports all parties.
Characteristic just AFTER the Last Quarter Moon
Beginning the Cultivating Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Initiate Change

It is now time to plow under the crops so they may become the fertilizer for the next cycle. It is time to let go of any vested interest or attachment to the experience of the Lunar Cycle and to the stage props that served our growth. This is a transformational time, a time for personal change. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. This is a time of departure, of walking away from that which is no longer nourishing and to prepare the soil of our lives for that which is. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Not making the realized changes keeps ourselves bound in a circle of old patterns of growth; changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.

Last Quarter Moon
Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on February 11 (12 UT) in late sidereal Libra. The Moon conjoins Beta Centauri; Alpha Lupus; and Unukalhai of Serpens.

In the mythical image here, the Centaur, lying below Libra and the Scorpion, is slaying the wild beast (thēríon, now the Latin Lupus) with conscious deliberation in preparation for a ceremony upon Ara, the sacrificial altar. This image articulates the conscious decision and demonstrable action to sacrifice lower-order bestial or hedonist self. The term sacrifice, as used here, means to give up a lower office for one higher, and in this case, for a higher stage of evolution. This is about slaying that which we at one time protected, egoic driven desires, to gain a greater freedom, illumined self. This act is prerequisite to make passage through the initiations of Scorpio to the offering upon the ceremonial altar (Ara) where this transmutation occurs.

Beta Centauri, at ~29° Libra, and Alpha Centauri, at ~5° Scorpio, along with the stars of Lupus, straddle the cusp of sidereal Scorpio. Beta Centauri embodies the experiential and transformational path of self-mastery in the physical world. This is an initiatory process of growth encountered as we enter into sidereal Scorpio and the realm of Ophiuchus, one required to embody the higher-order resonances this area of the heavens offers. This passage involves the willingness to allow the death of a lesser way of living for a rebirth into a refined way of living—a return into a purer heart-centered way of being—a physical journey of refinement that is the prerequisite to our true spiritual self-mastery. Beta Centauri impels us to do what is required in the physical world to achieve mastery of self and to live from our self-mastery in the world.

Unukalhai (Alpha Serpens), along with Beta Serpens and several other stars, form the neck and head of the Serpent. In our stellar image, Ophiuchus stands upon the Scorpion, with the serpent coiled around his body and held in his hands. The neck and head of the serpent reach and point toward the Northern Crown (Corona Borealis), which lies above the Chelae (claws) of the Scorpion / scales of Libra. This imagery articulates our need to demonstrably apply our self-mastery to attain our freedom from the duality-based reincarnational process of soul growth—out of the perpetuated patterns of growth we had become entrapped in.

Our Last Quarter Moon arouses a need to make changes in our lives that serve to free us from any entrapping patterns of the past or karmic-based life scenarios. This requires we take responsibility for our life experience rather than living as if victims to our life scenarios. It requires we realize there is a wide dynamic of forces that mold our experience and that it is up to us to claim our mastery in the midst of these forces, to become responsible creators in mastery over the raw primordial forces of life.

The New Mars-Uranus Synodic Cycle

Mars and Uranus begin a new 1.9-year synodic cycle in sidereal Pisces on February 13. The Mars-Uranus synods progresses around the ecliptic by about 7 to 8 degrees per synod. This synod occurs at the same location as the Venus-Uranus synod, thus also conjoining Alpheratz, the head of Princess Andromeda.

This new 1.9-year synod cycle impels prompt and radical assertive action in leadership and the creation of new technological solutions in response to those who may be entrapped, suppressed, controlled or exploited, especially by governmental, big-business and financial bureaucracies. On a more personal level, this new cycle invites us to use our creative power and life force in radical new ways that support our personal freedom.

The Sun enters sidereal Aquarius on February 13 (14 UT).

Coalescence into Essence

The latter part of this phase results in coalescing all that was experienced in the cycle into its essence, into its seed form. It is a reflective time looking back over the past, of extracting and assembling what was learned from the cycle, claiming its true wealth and wisdom. This is a great time to explore what we learned in the context of the new moon theme. It is this seed essence which is of true value to our greater growth. This seed will sprout in the next Lunar Cycle of growth and unfoldment, and morph into the next Lunar Cycle's theme.

Focus to the Future

Our focus now turns toward the future. We now turn away from looking back over the past cycle completely and begin to look ahead, preparing for and anticipating the future cycle to come, to a new step to emerge in our Lunar Path of Fulfillment. The seed is planted. It is time to let it germinate. Completing any lose ends is appropriate, or to move into a new position for the next cycle to unfold. Here we make the field of all possibilities smooth and clear, ready for the new sprouting to occur.

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on February 15 conjoining Pluto within 3° in sidereal Sagittarius and creating a T-square with the Lunar Nodes, with Uranus conjoining the South Lunar Node. Uranus and Pluto are about 3/4° to their seventh and final square, which occurs in March, late in the next lunar cycle. The Moon and Pluto conjoin Nunki and Ascella of Sagittarius.

Nunki (and Phi of Sagittarius at the Archer's hand), marks the fletching of the Zen Archer's arrow. The fletching of an arrow is what causes it to spin and have stability in flight, making it possible for the arrow to accurately move through space to hit its target. Nunki teaches us to steer our intent with undaunted focus, which is the guiding and stabilizing force used to achieve our goals. Nunki imparts eloquent fluidity of form in movement and a sense of being in the flow, and impels the expression of one's full potential. Ascella lies at the breast or heart of the Centaur, slightly south of Nunki. The two stars are about one degree in ecliptical longitude, thus tightly conjoined. Ascella embodies the Archer's power of intent, the truth within from which he lives. Ascella imparts a warrior type quality.

Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transferred into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articulates the combined qualities of vision and high ideals with the inherent force of intent applied with undaunted focus to achieve our goals. There must be movement / velocity for the fletching of an arrow (Nunki) to steer the arrow’s course. Thus we must not only access our intent of purpose, but we must move it, apply it with focused deliberation through conscious action from a place of stability and confidence to transform our intent of purpose into the manifestation of our greater ideals and visions.

Thus, the seed of this lunar month coalesces our lunar cycle. Our Balsamic Moon brings attention back to the Uranus-Pluto Square and the impetus to pierce the veils of false beliefs obscuring a greater truth and to take action to create radical change in our lives and in our world from the revelations Pluto offers.

Our next New Moon occurs on February 18 in early sidereal Aquarius. More to come then.
