Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

Surrender & Play

The end of this phase is also the end of the entire Lunar Cycle. It leads into the next New Moon. The day before the New Moon is a time to surrender in order to allow the next Lunar Theme to sprout in its purity. Let go of all fears, worries, and self-judgment. Become empty. This is a great time to just play and have fun.

Expressing a New Theme

A new theme emerges. A new idea, a new concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, a spontanious message, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen. A simple word or phrase may pop into your mind during this quite time describing the new lunar theme in a way that is unique to you, or perhaps a simple feeling or knowing will come over you. The ability to listen, honor and trust the inner is all that is required at this time. The ideal time to attune to your New Moon theme is exactly as the New Moon occurs, or at sunrise after the New Moon if the New Moon occurred during the night.

The New Moon

New Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

New Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
Subtract 0° 16' for the Galactic Ayanamsa

This April 7, 2016 New Moon conjoins Uranus and squares Pluto. Although we have completed the Uranus-Pluto square, the square is still dispersing, within a 3° orb. This New Moon also aspects the Jupiter-Saturn square and the Lunar Nodes. Thus, this lunar cycle engages and emphasizes the energetics of both squares, initiating action to create revolutionary change in our lives and in the world, and to relinquish antiquated structures we have created that once served but now limit our growth and expansion of consciousness.

Stars conjoining the New Moon and Uranus include Revati of Pisces, which lies just north over the belly of ole' Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. Further south is Fornax, the furnace, which provides the perpetual fire (digestive juices) for our transmutation while participating in the belly of ole' Cetus—in the wet, sensual, and emotional world of human affairs. North are the bound outstretched arms of Princess Andromeda.

Revati, Zeta Pisces, meaning riches, is of money, wealth, and financial resources. Prominent alignments with Revati can indicate an inherited fortune, or financial success and material wealth gained from participating in the dramatic psycho-emotional world of human affairs, or simply involvement with financial affairs in the world. This zodiakal longitude is a couple of degrees to that of Baten Kaitos, the belly of ole Cetus, where the transformative process occurs while in the whale of human emotional experience. Revati brings attention to our personal resources, whatever they may be, their value, and how we are using them, if we apply them in ways that create more entrapment, feeding the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, or greater freedom and personal sovereignty. Venus is exalted at this zodiacal longitude, bringing attention to the relation of the flow of abundance, emotional clarity, receptivity to life, and living from the clarity and truth of the heart.

Additional stars in this area of the zodiak bring attention to the use of financial resources, especially used for control and dominance, as well as to aid and set free those who are entrapped in conditions not of their own making. This was also the ecliptical location of Eris during the financial and housing crisis of 2008. Uranus is about to make its first opposition to Haumea followed by its first conjunction with Eris over these next two lunar months, adding to a series of catalytic planetary events occurring in 2016.

New Moon Star Chart

North of and conjoining Revati and Baten Kaitos are the stars forming the outstretched arms of the entrapped Princess Andromeda. Andromeda’s northern arm is lashed high over her head upon the crag, pulled back toward the Lizard. Her southern arm is lashed southward toward the riches of the mortal world and also toward the shores where Cetus, the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, approaches. Andromeda is stretched in turmoil in this natural sepulchre carved into the rocky cliff, caught in forces not of her own making, an environment and genetic lineage she was born into.

Andromeda's dire consequence was due to Queen Cassiopeia's boastful and arrogant claim that her daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea. In response, Poseidon sent Cetus the Sea Monster to ravage the shores of Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. Cepheus was advised that the only way to appease Poseidon was to sacrifice is daughter to Cetus. In acquiescence, the King had Andromeda chained to the cliff at the sea to be devoured by Cetus. Andromeda, although inheriting this unfortunate sentence, has a far greater and fortuitous destiny awaiting her. Perseus eventually kills Cetus and frees Andromeda. They eventually marry and go on to create a city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world.

Andromeda’s bound outstretched arms articulate limitations imposed by authoritarian forces or patterning inherited, and how acquiescing to them can manifest as the entrapments in which we may find our selves, limitations to overcome in the pursuit to create our own destiny. This expands upon the theme of Alpheratz and amalgamates with the themes of Revati and Baten Kaitos, all of which articulate not only the bound feminine principle and the subjugation of females in general, but also the bondage, suppression and manipulation of humanity’s prosperous future through the control of financial resources by the dominant patriarchal-driven bureaucracies. This in turn impels claiming the courage to release fear about not having or surviving, or losing what we do have, both of which drive the tormenting forces of the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. Either way, transformation of physical, emotional and mental pattering is of issue.

This Uranus-Revati-lunar cycle, involving several key aspects with Uranus, Haumea and Eris, brings attention to financial resources and financial affairs, both personally and globally, the control of money and to how it is used, whether to manipulate, exploit and control, as well as to aid and set free those who are entrapped in conditions not of their own making. It brings attention to our personal resources, whatever they may be, their value, and how we are using them, or simply to examine what we value. It brings impetus to create progressive revolutionary change in our lives to break free from the restrictions of past conformations, especially regarding financially imposed limitations. It begins an acceleration of unexpected events and disclosures, especially regarding financial resources, along with unexpected change or progressive opportunity that impels spontaneity and innovative response.

This also marks the climatic midpoint of the current Earth-Uranus Synodic Cycle that began in mid-October, 2015.

Releasing Restricting Patterns

Just prior to the first Crescent Moon, we can realize the opportunity for growth that the Lunar Cycle has to offer. What surfaces now is: How I would have done this in the past, the old or established ways, based on past experience. Here we have the opportunity to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns, much like sluffing off the protective sheath of a seed now beginning to sprout, as that sheath would only limit the unfoldment of the new theme and our own growth. The Crescent Moon marks the time when the theme would like to grow into a more expansive form. By consciously honoring, accepting in love, and letting go of our old concepts, we allow ourselves to move forth into the expansive growing phase of the Lunar Cycle.

Expanding upon the Theme

This is a time when the currently held vision begins to expand into a greater form. New possibilities of unfoldment would like to grow—possibilities not realized before. This 3 1/2 day Growng Phase is a time of engaging our creativity and integrating it with the original theme, identifying its unique and full potential. It is a time of allowing a realistic and achievable plan of action to evolve, a time of inspiration, and a time to have faith in ours creative process.

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.

The Crescent Moon occurs on April 10 nesting in the Hyades, and in a separating sextile from Venus and in opposition to Mars.

The Hyades, primarily marked by Theta Taurus, is the second asterism in Taurus after the Pleiades, and much older. It forms the V-shape of stars between Aldebaran and Ain. The Hyades are said to be five of the fifteen daughters of Atlas and Aethra, daughter of Oceanus; and named after Hyas, meaning rain, the son of Aethra, who preceded her daughters. The Hyades are thus half sisters of the Pleiades. The Greeks new them as Uades, which some say is from the Latin uein (to rain); referring to their reputation for bringing rain attending their helical rising and setting in latter May and November. Ovid, the Roman poet, writes that the sisters were grief-stricken at the death of their beloved brother, and their tears fall on us as rain.

The Hyades are considered to have a watery and tempestuous nature although they nest within an Earth sign, and are associated with tempests and storms; and thus also of emotional release of grief when morning. Although Taurus is of the fruits of the Earth, and generally has a peaceful nature, it does have areas that are more disruptive in nature, with the Hyades being associated with thunder, lighting and storms; creating upset, sorrow or commotion. They can be associated with civil disruption with afflicted alignments, but with Aldebaran's nearby influence, there is the capacity for strong leadership to emerge from such disruptive or chaotic scenarios. Either way, the disruptive nature of the Hyades can be diversionary or entrapping to those without the vision and stamina Aldebaran offers.

Our Crescent Moon inspires creative solution while in the midst of tumultuous disruptive conditions or situations. Being receptive and trusting in heart with compassion for the struggles of others is the solution to challenges that may arise. It also brings attention to domestic concerns, home and family.

The Sun, Eris & Haumea

The Sun conjoins Eris opposite Haumea on April 12, leading into and adding stimulus to the First Quarter Moon. This also marks the midpoint of the annual Earth-Eris cycle and initiates a new annual Earth-Huamea cycle.

Haumea just made its fourth opposition to the Dwarf Planet Eris in the previous lunar cycle. Eris opens our eyes to a greater truth to what has been hidden behind our defensive pious platitudes, forcing us to change and to expand our view of reality. The discovery of Eris in January of 1995 overturned the astronomical community (and astrological community), which catalyzed the reclassification of planets and the formation of the Dwarf Planet category to which Pluto and Ceres now belong. Haumea impels us to reinvent ourselves with strength and dynamic motion from a state of equilibrium and poise.

The Haumea-Eris opposition has been and will continue to be extremely influential in the tearing down of our old world paradigm and the birthing of a new world consciousness (2014-2019), especially accelerant when Uranus opposes Haumea and conjoins Eris—starting promptly. Uranus makes its first geocentric opposition to Haumea in early May, during this upcoming Mercury retrograde, and Uranus follows with its first conjunction with Eris in early June.

This Uranus-Revati-lunar cycle (and this First Quarter Moon) is especially catalytic in engaging the Uranus-Eris opposition to Haumea, which continues into 2017, which I suspect will bring unprecedented disclosures, disruptive technologies, and unforeseen world events that will reveal a far greater reality that few people imagine exists, and that will catalyze far greater changes in our lives occurring throughout the remainder of this decade and into the early 2020s. Also see the October 13, 2015 Haumea New Moon.

Uranus Eris Haumea Graphic Ephemeris

Venus, Ceres, Chiron and Jupiter

Venus, Ceres and Chiron make their heliocentric opposition to Jupiter on April 13 and 14, surrounding the First Quarter Moon. This planetary alignment marks the start of new Venus-Ceres-Chiron cycles, and marks the midpoints of the current Venus-Jupiter, Ceres-Jupiter and the Jupiter-Chiron cycles, the latter which began with Neptune in 2009, presented in detail in Sociopolitical & Personal Explorations 2016-2020. The Ceres-Jupiter cycle and its midpoint now, brings emphasis to creating a sustainable future, one that ensures our fundamental needs in life are met, primarily food, shelter and financial stability. It motivates creating abundance and freedom in these areas and it also brings attention to the land, agriculture and environmental issues.

External Stimulus

Just before first-quarter moon, we draw an external stimulus to ourselves. This is some event outside of self occurring in our lives or in the world that impels a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This is a time when any fears or doubts hidden within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the I can’ts and the reasons why not is to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth. Many people drop the ball at this point in the lunar cycle. Don't be one.

Initiate Action

Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about. The inspiration is now gone, it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Remember, the flower that is about to burst forth from the bud is not yet visible. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. The creative tension brought forth by the external stimulus now shifts into opportunity and unfoldment. This is a time for practical application of your talents. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. What you are putting together now is the groundwork for the manifestation of the theme. Simply, this phase is a time to work.

Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon
First Quarter Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

First Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley

Note also the interlocking Yods to Eris and Vesta-Haumea

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on April 14 conjoining Pollux of the Gemini Twins. Also influencing are Procyon and Gomeisa of Canis Minor, Wezen of Canis Major, and Muscida of Ursa Major.

“The Twins” are marked by the two principal stars, Pollux and Castor, which mark the Twins’ heads in the last few degrees of sidereal Gemini. The Twins stand upon the galactic equator at a 60° angle to the ecliptic plane, with the “Feet of the Twins” lying in earlier Gemini, upon the “Gate of Man”. Thus, Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind—the theme of the Gate of Man. Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange. The Twins are of partnerships in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, linking and uniting through their daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.

Castor is the liaison in the world of daily human affairs, and is of partnerships and cooperation. Castor brings resources and people together that serve to get logistics accomplished in the world of business and commerce; whereas Pollux brings a greater awareness to the efforts of Castor, uniting individuals, groups and factions with concern for the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all parties. Pollux imparts more of an intuitive awareness, whereas Castor has more of an intellectual emphasis. Pollux imparts the quality of an ambassador, orator, and liaison, whereas Castor's role is applied more so in business and management of daily human affairs. Pollux portends success, eminence and renown.

Muscida, the Nose of the Great Bear, conjoins Pollux. Muscida imparts a highly intuitive sense for the diversity of all life, as well as for their conditions and needs. Muscida's slow rotation (~250 days) and mature age impart an older soul quality of enduring patience. Muscida bestows its intuitive and patient qualities, especially in foreign and international relations, augmenting the ambassadorial quality and efforts of Pollux.

The Egyptian X

Procyon is the Babylonian “Kakkab Paldara,” which means “Star of the Crossing.” It is one of the five stars creating the “Egyptian X” with Betelgeuse of Orion, Naos of the Argo, Phaet of Columba the Dove, and with the center star Sirius—the Great World Teacher. In classic astrology, Procyon portends wealth, renown, and good fortune. Conjoining Pollux of Gemini (the ambassador), Procyon inspires our allegiance to a greater cause, purpose, or faction. Procyon inspires us to ally with another or with a group to achieve a greater purpose than we could achieve alone. The desert Arabs knew Sirius and Procyon as “Al Ahawat al Suhail”—the (radiant, glorious, and beautiful) sisters of Canopus: thus recognizing all three to be associated with the fulfillment of souls’ greater evolutionary purpose. Gomeisa is assistant to Procyon, which also conjoins Pollux and which marks the sidereal Gemini-Cancer cusp. Gomeisa can indicate those with special expertise in the area of negotiation and communication, sometimes those that assist such efforts behind the scenes.

Our First Quarter Moon's stimulus impels diplomatic communication and mutual cooperation between individuals, groups or organizations, and the exchange of resources and information between them, or to link individual efforts together with larger groups or organizations that can serve a purpose far greater than separate parties can accomplish alone, such as more encompassing joint ventures.

This theme was also a part of the evolutionary current set in motion in mid-January by the previous Mercury ~116-day synodic cycle, involving Pallas and Pluto, presented in the January 10, 2016 Lunar Planner.

The Sun enters sidereal Aries on April 14, just after the First Quarter Moon, which initiates and exceptionally strong solar month, imparting a bold and headstrong impetus for personal accomplishment.

Mars Retrograde

Geocentric Star Chart animation showing the 2016 Mars Retrograde. (You can pause the video and drag the progress bar to view any section of the video.)

Mars begins its retrograde in this lunar cycle, on April 17, just before the Gibbous Moon, upon the foot of Ophiuchus and conjoining Antares, Heart of the Scorpion, Mars retrogrades back through the head and chelae of the Scorpion. Mars completes its retrograde on June 29, at which time it moves toward its conjunction with Saturn and Antares, occurring in August, at which time we will be impelled to apply how we have redefined our creative motive (throughout the retrograde) into concretized form.

Mars' retrograde, in general, provides a time to explore and redefine how we are using our creative initiative and our autonomic response. Every retrograde of Mars (or any planet) is however unique, depending upon several factors, but primarily due to the stellar energetics in which the retrograde occurs, just as the stars conjoining the Sun-Earth-Mars alignment (Mars synod) sets the energetic and reveals the theme for the new Mars synodic cycle.

Mars and Earth are also approaching their closest distance during their orbits, which occurs on May 30, near the start of the new Earth-Mars synodic cycle, which begins on May 22, during the midst of the Mars retrograde, conjoining the Head of the Scorpion—making this retrograde and the new Mars cycle extra-potent and especially significant.

Mars, at the start of its retrograde, also deposits its force through Vesta, which is currently passing through the stars of Aries, thus impelling us to become clear, dedicated and focused to use our instinctual creative response to become more or to aspire for something more in our lives. Mercury also conjoins Vesta as Mars makes its retrograde station.

Ophiuchus (standing over the Scorpion) teaches us to recognize that power is not something outside of self and gaining it is not by attempting to control our external world and the people in it, but is through the art of self-mastery to claim the power within self. This requires an inversion in consciousness from being a victim of our life experience to being a creator of it. This flip in consciousness is not merely attained by changing how we think, although that can open the path to it. It is the result of doing the inner work, physiologically, emotionally and mentally, that changes our vibrational resonance. See Emotional Tone Scale History & Healing.

Saturn's retrograde in this area of the heavens provides opportunity to address long-established solidified psychophysiological patterns within self and the resultant manifest conditions in our lives that result from them. Psychophysiological patterns include neurological function, cellular imprints, their emotional charge and our resultant beliefs.

The retrogrades of both Mars and Saturn in this area of the heavens bring us to realize the dire ramifications of forcibly attempting to change our external life experiences, but to realize the means to effect change is by first changing the source of those manifestations, our inner vibrational resonance, which in turn coalesces the assemblage our material experience.

Mars and Saturn both, especially in this area of the heavens, resonate with our autonomic neurological process (the reptilian part or our brains / brain stem), which controls our automatic behavioral survival responses. These are deep-seated behavioral patterns common to all of us, which have long-standing momentum, and thus are not trivial to change. Nonetheless, this is the area of ourselves that Mars and Saturn currently invites us to address. However, we are not left without help in this process. Jupiter, also retrograde (in its square to Saturn and opposition to Chiron, conjoining the Lunar Nodes), impels an inward expansion of our neocortex, the part of our brain that enables our ability to think independently and to aspire for the greater evolutionary wellbeing of all life, beyond our reactive primal and emotional responses. Chiron on the South Lunar Node impels us to delve deep within self to get in touch with deep-seated wounds that perpetuate our behavioral conditions and to use those very wounds as the elixir the heals, and to apply that inner healing to mobilize the expansion of our consciousness.

This phase brings a strong desire to connect and involve with others. The outer and opposite is alluring. It is a time of exploration and involvement with others. Flowers not only blossom to reveal their beauty, but their functional purpose is to provide the pollination required to bear fruit. This interaction brings clarity of purpose and builds into the enthusiastic energy required for fulfillment. Communication and intermixing of energies is highlighted. The purpose is to be of value to each other, stimulating creativity. Share your vision and direction, what you have been working on. The 3 1/2-day Pollinating Phase is a social time, which will culminate on the Full Moon.

The Gibbous Moon
Attraction & Involvement

Gibbous Moon

The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

The Gibbous Moon occurs on April 18 UT (Apr 17 MST) conjoining retrograde Jupiter in sidereal Leo. The Moon and Jupiter lie at the hind of the Lion conjoining Chort of Leo. North is Mizar (and Alcor) of Ursa Major, and Asterion and the Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151 in Canes Venatici.

Mizar of the Great Bear, Zeta Ursa Major, is the overseeing and predominant star of this area of the zodiak. Mizar, and its companion Alcor, articulates raw fiery energy that must express one way or another. Mizar must have a creative outlet, but for its proper expression, we must apply it with clear creative vision. Mizar brings attention to the use of our creative energies, our creative and destructive tendencies, and the fear to create lest it may result in destruction. Here we learn the nature of such volatile forces. Mizar, with averted alignments, is also known for catastrophic fires or massacres. Mizar can however express quite artistically—just as gunpowder can express as beautiful fireworks or devastating explosions. Mizar tends to express in a grand way, in character with showy and dramatic Leo. Mizar imparts a dynamic, action oriented creative artistic expression.

“The Eye of Sauron” in Canes Venatici

“The Eye of Sauron” in Canes Venatici
NGC 4151 is a spiral galaxy with an actively growing supermassive black hole at its center. This composite image of NGC 4151 contains X-rays from Chandra (blue), optical data (yellow), and radio emission (red). The structure has been dubbed "The Eye of Sauron" by astronomers due to its resemblance to the character in "The Lord of the Rings.” Image Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/CfA/J.Wang et al.; Optical: Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes, La Palma/Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope, Radio: NSF/NRAO/VLA

Asterion and the conjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151, both of the barking hounds, Canes Venatici, conjoin Mizar. Seyfert galaxies are spiral galaxies that have very dense and bright cores (nuclei) that express a broad spectrum of emission lines, which suggests extremely hot gases in violent motion. In general, Seyfert galaxies tend to stimulate dynamic, powerful and directed action.

Although of a dynamic, outgoing, artistic creative character, Mizar, Asterion and Chort, at the hind of the Lion, can also produce a lot of dramatic racket and fiery commotion due to toxic conditions or an unrefined awareness. This can also be a part of the often diversionary tactics intended to distract the unsuspecting from the real issues or path at hand, a theme common to late Leo.

The nearby Pulsar CP1133 in Leo provides impulses to act upon our intuition and upon the more subtle evolutionary and guiding currents articulated by the stars of Velorum, the sail of the Argo, which lies below the diversionary dramatics in the global arena for those who are able to function on more refined evolutionary currents.

Our Gibbous Moon inspires dynamic creative expression that will catalyze revolutionary change, yet it is easy to be misled in our actions if we are not clear within self and clear upon our course. It is easy to become diverted by the dramatic whirlwind or glamour in the world around us, overly inflated by Jupiter at this particular time. Our opportunity is to attune to subtler guiding currents that can guide us in right action and in the right direction that are attuned to and in harmony with accomplishing our greater pursuits in life and the ever-changing times ahead. Jupiter, still retrograde, impels an inner expansion of consciousness rather than jumping upon the bandwagon of dramatics swirling around us.

Pluto Retrograde

Pluto begins its retrograde on April 18 amongst the stars of the Zen Archer, which continues through late September. Pluto's retrograde provides an ideal time for an inward meditative journey through psychological transformation to find one's personal sense of power.

Full Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

Full Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
Subtract 0° 16' for the Galactic Ayanamsa

The Full Moon occurs on April 22 UT (April 21 MST) in early sidereal Libra, amongst the legs of the Virgin. The Moon conjoins Syrma of Virgo, Miaplacidus Carina of Argo Navis, and Muhlifain and the hind legs of Centaurus.

Syrma, Star of Atlantis, lies under the skirt of the Virgin and marks the knee of the Virgin. Syrma embodies issues relating to frozen genetic coding and the resultant crystallized emotional patterning incurred due to devastating or cataclysmic events of the past, especially incurred from the controlling use of resources to obtain power over others. Syrma provides inspiration for personal change and transformation, and articulates our need to unlock our frozen genetic coding and crystallized cellular makeup that keeps us stretched out of the present. Syrma alignments can bring deep-seated emotional patterning to surface awareness, especially related to the use of power. Syrma also inspires the application of art-sciences that can aid in this process, freeing our selves from biological conditioning and behavioral patterns passed on through generations.

The Coronet Star Cluster

Conjoining Syrma is the Purple Rose of Virgo, a barred spiral galaxy (slightly smaller than our Galaxy). Image Credit: ESO PR Photo 16/07

Muhlifain Centauri is of secrecy and protection, and the concealment of secret matters. It often indicates there is a double meaning: that one thing said exoterically reveals the opposite esoterically, or that one thing conceals or contains another.

Miaplacidus of Carina, on the keel of the Argo, is the second most important star of the Argo, after Canopus. "Mia" is of greater universal flowing waters of Source and "Placidus" is of grid-navigational-mapping. Miaplacidus involves the navigational mapping of cosmic evolutionary currents—evolutionary intelligence and how it expresses in time and space. Miaplacidus is of Astronomical-Earthgrid mapping, navigation, inner-dimensional travel, and related art-sciences and environments that support soul’s greater evolutionary journey. Living at or traveling to the right locations at the proper times in our lives is of significance to be in proper (space-time) harmony. The purpose of sacred geometry, naturally tuned architecture, and the art-sciences involving harmonics and resonance are all of significance here—many of the art-sciences that have been obscured, suppressed or lost to humanity—including the integrated knowledge of astronomy and astrology and its application in cartographical mapping on the Earth in space and time.

The Diamond Cross of Argo Navis

Miaplacidus along with Theta Carina (Vathorz Posterior) and the Theta Carina star cluster, Upsilon Carina and Omega Carina form the Diamond Cross of Argo Navis. It, like the Southern Cross, does not have a central star in the center, thus forming a diamond more so than a cross. You must be south of 20° north latitude on Earth to see it. The Diamond forms the keel and hold of the Argo. Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster are of secret knowledge, record keeping, scribing, and the articulation of intelligence regarding navigational matters and transcendent evolutionary currents. All of these stars, expressing through this area of zodiak, conjoining Syrma of Virgo, are also associated with long-established wealthy and powerful clandestine secret societies or orders.

Our Full Moon brings our Uranus-Revati Lunar cycle to its culmination. It brings emphasis to hidden powers and agendas behind money and financial affairs, and to the use of resources to control, manipulate or direct evolutionary affairs, but also to the use of resources to free and support those attempting to create a better and new world paradigm. It brings emphasis to the arts and sciences regarding proper and harmonious environments, processes, and procedures in our personal lives that ensure the safe birth and healthy incarnate experience of souls on Earth. Environmental support is a key phrase here, this includes the environmental conditions of the Earth, our personal living and working environments, and a harmonious environmental resonance in our relations.

Movement & Participation

The latter part of this phase shifts rapidly. A sense of urgency is felt. It is a time to bring forth the fruits of our actions. On the day before the Disseminating Moon, it is as if there is more to do than there is time for. It is a time of much commotion with last minute details seeming to appear from nowhere. Keep cool and accelerate, making those last-minute preparations. A birthing is at hand.

Manifestation & Demonstration

This is a time for the fruits of our labors to manifest and for lessons to become tangible. Whether the fruit of this cycle is in the form of inner growth or outer manifestation, it is that which will support the true nourishment of ourselves and others. Share your fruit. This is a time to give forth that which was learned or created, and to receive the same from others. Demonstrable expression and the imparting of our gifts anchors into the structure of our consciousness the self-empowerment gained from this Lunar Cycle.

The Disseminating Moon
Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on April 26 in late sidereal Scorpio squaring the Lunar Nodes (with Chiron-South Node), and trining Uranus-Eris. Conjoining stars include Ras Alhague and Theta Ophiuchus along with the stars forming the right leg of Ophiuchus; Lesath of the Scorpion; and Zeta Ara and the Ara Black Hole.

Ras Alhague, Alpha Ophiuchus, the principal lucida of Ophiuchus, is the head of the Serpent Holder. This star in the northern heavens embodies the essence of the constellation. Ras Alhague expresses the experientially-gained wisdom of one who has attained illumination and demonstrably lives from that prowess and awareness. Ras Alhague is also the embodiment of physical health and vitality—one who knows how to heal thyself.

Ras Alhague lies over and conjoins the stars forming the right leg and foot of Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus stands with his right foot (Theta Ophiuchus) over the sting of the Scorpion, Lesath, which marks the end of sidereal Scorpio. Ras Alhague, Theta Ophiuchus and Lesath all conjoin. Together, these stars articulate the capacity to transmute life’s initiatory experiences into true personal power and wisdom.

The Butterfly Nebula in the tail of the Scorpion

The Butterfly Nebula NGC 6302 in the tail of the Scorpion. Image by Hubble’s Wide Field Camera

Ara is the Altar of the Centaur. The mythical image here is of the Centaur placing Lupus the beast with conscious deliberation upon the Centaur's sacrificial altar. Lying between Eta and Zeta Ara is V821, an x-ray emitting & fluctuating binary star. This is a collapsed object (like a old neutron star) that accretes matter, and thus had been placed in the Black Hole model used by astronomers. Thus it is commonly called the Ara Black Hole. V821 accretes emotion for consummation in the Centaur's Pyre. Here we must place, with conscious deliberation, any long standing grief, guilt, anger, and any other emotion (especially self-judgment related) that we are holding upon the Altar of the Centaur for our transmutation. North from the Sting of the Scorpion drips the transmuting elixir (the often harsh lessons of life), upon the Altar. This act is essential to experience the actual neurological transmutation made possible here, and that leads to our greater self-mastery; the mastery over the creative and carnal forces of life exemplified by Ophiuchus, who stands over the Scorpion and this entire scene, and the wisdom from our experience articulated by Ras Alhague, the head of Ophiuchus. If we are not ready to surrender and relinquish our antiquated emotional baggage, we are held back or sidetracked, and continue to experience upsets, diversions and even traumatic and catastrophic events in our lives because we are not truly ready to step into a greater level of self-empowerment or take action that can truly change our lives.

Significant planetary placements with Lesath can also express as vehement lashing out for those who have not learned to embrace, own and transmute their emotions but instead project them outward onto others. This is especially intensified due to the Moon's T-square placement to the Lunar Nodes. Just a note of caution, as this can be a highly volatile alignment (the eve of April 25).

Our Disseminating Moon especially impels an emotional expression and also provides unexpected opportunity for revelatory cathartic transformation. It invites us to participate from the wisdom of self-empowerment, and/or to gain a greater level of self-awareness and empowerment by unconditionally embracing our experience.

Juno's New Synodic Cycle

The Sun, Earth and retrograde Juno align on April 28 UT (April 27 MST) initiating the new Earth-Juno synodic cycle. This occurs in mid-sidereal Libra. Conjoining stars include those of the Southern Cross and those of the Northern Crown, also the Centaurus-A Galaxy, Omega Centauri and Omega Carina.

Juno is the asteroid of covenant relationships and soul colleagues. Juno is not only of personal relations, but also those of a business and economic nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one’s life. There is an acceptance of another’s truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses in mutual support and unconditional love to allow each other to grow and change through whatever issues surface.

At a personal level, Juno’s placement in the astrological chart is one of several points that determine the types of significant relations drawn into our lives and the nature of issues we may face in those relations. Juno's placement specifically reveals the nature of the compatibility we seek, that is, what is important to us regarding our partners. More about Juno.

The stars at the Sun-Earth-Juno alignment (synod), in the midst of the retrograde, reveals the underlying energetic about the opportunity the retrograde provides and the new Earth-Juno synodic cycle, which will fully engage as Juno returns direct on June 22, 2016. This cycle continues into July of 2017.

This mid-point in sidereal Libra, in our stellar mythos of the Virgin giving birth into the clutches of the Scorpio, lies just before the claws of the Scorpion. Here at the feet of the Virgin one either re-enters into the reincarnational path of soul growth though the balance of dualistic Earthian experience, re-entering the patterns of the past, or, for those ready, it is where one can re-claim soul's original cardinality or pure intent (embodied by the Southern Cross) and attain evolutionary freedom from past patterns of entrapment (attaining the Northern Crown).

The jets and lobes emanating from Centaurus A (NGC 5128) have been imaged at sub-millimeter wavelengths for the first time. The new data, from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope in Chile, which is operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO), have been combined with visible and X-ray wavelengths to produce this striking new image. Centaurus-A, “Temple of the Centaur,” is a significant x-ray source that enters sidereal Libra, also under the Skirt of the Virgin. It nests within an exotic galaxy (NGC5128) that does not fit into any galactic class, a place so unique that it seems oblivious to and undaunted by its surrounding cosmology. Cen-A is a very deep pool of consciousness, the essence of pure consciousness. It expresses a quality of beauty, harmony in unique perfection.

South of Centaurus-A are the stars of the Southern Cross. The Centaur is protector of the Southern Cross and benevolent teacher of its principles. The four stars of the Southern Cross (Crux) embody the original cardinal virtues seemingly lost to most of humanity. This is the cardinality (pure intent) of the soul—embodied by the Kappa Crucis Cluster, the Jewel Box, before the aberrations, confusions, attitudes, and beliefs incurred by the soul throughout its entire incarnational sojourn.

Centaurus-A invites us to create a contemplative or meditative harmonious space or environment from which to access our inner cardinal soul wisdom, our original and unique purpose and intent, which underlie the aberrations, false beliefs, and restricting concepts we may have placed upon ourselves. Centaurus-A invites us to enter a place of inner stillness, to relinquish the concepts of thought we associate with our existing lives. This inner excursion requires a willingness to go deep within and to allow a disintegration of the constructs of self we hold, our human mold, of what we think ourselves to be, and to emerge with a far deeper awareness of our true selves, the inner knowing of our true essence. We can then bring that pure essence, that intent, back into our life expression without the need to mold ourselves into mass consensus. The successful feat can result in an inversion or flip in consciousness—with a revelation of great magnitude, one that can change our lives forever.

The Omega Centauri Globular Cluster

The globular cluster Omega Centauri—containing about ten million stars— is seen in all its splendour in this image captured with the Wide Field Imager (WFI), mounted on the 2.2-metre diameter Max-Planck/ESO telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory. The image shows only the most central part of the cluster (a field of view of about half a degree)—the full cluster appears almost as big as the full moon. Omega Centauri is about 150 light-years across and is the most massive of all the Milky Way's globular clusters—the largest and brightest globular cluster in the sky; and a favorite celestial object for stargazers from the southern hemisphere. Image & Caption Credit: ESO/EIS

The Omega Centauri Globular Cluster conjoins Cen-A at mid-sidereal Libra. Omega Centauri contains about ten million stars and is the most massive of all of our galaxy’s globular clusters—the largest and brightest globular cluster in the sky; and a favorite object for stargazers in the southern hemisphere. Omega Centauri appears almost as big as a full moon. Omega Centauri inspires us to access and boldly radiate our soul wisdom in its entirety. This is the power of the soul found deep within self while meditating in the Temple of the Centaur.

Centaurus-A also conjoins Nusakan (Beta), Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown, and the Quasar 3C 351 of northern Draco. This quasar inspires access to ancient time, when soul was pristine in its intent and purpose, and to pull this awareness into the present expression with passion, enthusiasm, art, and beauty to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment, exemplified by Ophiuchus holding the serpent pointing its head to the Northern Crown, which lies north and above the Claws of the Scorpion (the Scales of Libra). Beta, Eta and Theta of Corona Borealis impel personal action to find away through the labyrinth of obstacles in life that impedes us to achieve our personal fulfillment and evolutionary freedom.

Juno began its retrograde on March 2 and completes it on June 22, providing a time to address and change past patterns expressed in our relationships, and to establish greater equilibrium and harmony in our relations and in how we interrelate. The entire retrograde provides a time to explore commitments in relationships, mutual compatibility, what is important to us in our relationships. It is also conducive for recommitting or renegotiating agreements, commitments and contracts in our existing relations. It is also not uncommon for some relations to disperse and for new ones to form during a Juno retrograde.

This new Juno synodic cycle offers a fresh start for relationships of all types, those personal and intimate, those of a professional nature, and those between nations of the world, especially those involving covenants, commitments and agreements. It provides opportunity to claim far greater freedom and fulfillment in our existing relations, or through the establishment of new relations, that can free us from entrapping patterns of the past.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury begins its retrograde on April 28 conjoining Vesta in late sidereal Aries. Mercury will complete its retrograde on May 22 in the following lunar cycle, also when the Sun conjoins Vesta opposite Mars (the Mars synod). This retrograde, involving Vesta and occurring during the Juno retrograde and Mars retrograde, is especially favorable for establishing a new clarity of focus in partnerships, for creating new or renegotiating existing agreements and commitments, for establishing new relationships, and for formulating new plans and creative pursuits in our relations.

Inner Need

This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Acknowledging the needs we feel surfacing on the inner is essential to create the changes in our lives on the outer. This inner recognition provides the challenge to do so. There is impetus to withdraw from the activity of this entire cycle, to emerge from the stage setting that served our intended growth. Remember that others are having their inner needs as well! Demanding others change is not the solution to our well being. This is a good day for quite time. Allowing mutual space and sharing our realizations with mutual respect supports all parties.

Initiate Change

It is now time to plow under the crops so they may become the fertilizer for the next cycle. It is time to let go of any vested interest or attachment to the experience of the Lunar Cycle and to the stage props that served our growth. This is a transformational time, a time for personal change. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. This is a time of departure, of walking away from that which is no longer nourishing and to prepare the soil of our lives for that which is. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Not making the realized changes keeps ourselves bound in a circle of old patterns of growth; changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.

Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley

The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on April 30 UT (April 29 MST) in mid-sidereal Capricorn.

Conjoining stars include Theta Microscopium; Delta and Epsilon Indus; Alpha Tucana; the Pulsar PSR 2045-16 in Capricorn; and the Pulsar JP 1953 in Vulpecula.

A principle energetic shift occurs here at mid-Capricorn, due to a cusp in the natural seven-fold division of Earth's precessional arc in the heavens. A divisioning or dispersal of light occurs here shifting Capricorn's earlier quality, which is more exclusive and personally focused, to one that is more inclusive, externally expressive, and embracing of other people, and their knowledge and ideas.

Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600's by German astronomer Johann Bayer, of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).

Indus articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus’ adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.

Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our "places of power" that support our wellbeing and purposes in life. This also alludes to why military installations are often found on or near sacred sites, strategic locations on the Earthgrid.

Delta and Epsilon Indus conjoin Alpha Tucana and Theta Microscopium at mid-sidereal Capricorn. Loquacious Alpha Tucana can express as overly articulate, or even as incessant babel, which can be either very helpful or terribly annoying. Epsilon and Delta Indus add an ornate quality to communicative Tucana that is inherently perceptive to the natural world and to the earth. Theta Microscopium adds to this ornately loquacious and negotiating quality that demands extreme attention to detail and which is precision minded. These stars often stimulate communication and creative negotiation that lead to solution for all parties involved.

Also conjoining are the Vulpecula Pulsar JP 1953 and the Pulsar PSR 2045-16 in Capricorn. Pulsars are rapidly rotating neutron (collapsed) stars emitting a beam of electromagnetic radiation at consistent and dependable pulsating intervals, much like a lighthouse. They are usually found along the galactic equatorial plane and are guiding navigational beacons for the soul. They can be associated with our greater evolutionary purpose beyond or transcending the incarnational sojourn due to their galactic equatorial placement. They can either drive unconscious behavior for the less aware, or for a person more aware, they can offer a subtle but guiding message. A pulsar's emission is dependable, consistent, and is non-polarized (without opinion). They can suggest patience, tenacious persistence and consistency in action; or the need to be attentive to something specific, often revealed by conjoining stars. Repetition and routine can set in resulting in empty ceremonial ways, monotonous actions or other unconscious behavior if one lacks the perceptual awareness to apprehend the specific pulsar’s message.

The Vulpecula Pulsar JP 1953 has a 0.426676 second period, which translates to a perfect blue in the visible light spectrum. Pulsar PSR 2045-16 has a 1.96156682076 second period, which translates to green in the visible light spectrum. PSR 2045-16 of Capricorn is a non-galactic equatorial Pulsar, lying almost on the ecliptic.

These conjoining pulsars bring attention to how we communicate, and impel us to express from the heart and throat chakras integrated together. They impel the need to shift from a covert, self-focused, exclusive (separatist) way of communicating (as in babbling to hear one's self speak) to a more open, wholesome and inclusive way of communicating with others and with all life, to blend into the world, to become an inseparable part of it, rather than to stand outside looking in. They impel us to use our entire range of cognitive and perceptual abilities when communicating.

Our Last Quarter Moon raises the issue of trust. It impels us to initiate changes in our lives based upon an intuitive sense gained from discerning deeper meaning hidden within what is apparent. More importantly, it impels us to trust in the serendipity occurring in our lives. This requires we surrender the pre-occupations of reasoning mind, those of worry and our need to define and control, of what we "think" we "should" be doing. It instead requires us to be attentive to and trust any subtle impulses we may feel at any given moment. Here lies the art of getting out of our own way to allow creative solutions that lead us from the conforming bounds of limited mind.

Coalescence into Essence

The latter part of this phase results in coalescing all that was experienced in the cycle into its essence, into its seed form. It is a reflective time looking back over the past, of extracting and assembling what was learned from the cycle, claiming its true wealth and wisdom. This is a great time to explore what we learned in the context of the new moon theme. It is this seed essence which is of true value to our greater growth. This seed will sprout in the next Lunar Cycle of growth and unfoldment, and morph into the next Lunar Cycle's theme.

Focus to the Future

Our focus now turns toward the future. We now turn away from looking back over the past cycle completely and begin to look ahead, preparing for and anticipating the future cycle to come, to a new step to emerge in our Lunar Path of Fulfillment. The seed is planted. It is time to let it germinate. Completing any lose ends is appropriate, or to move into a new position for the next cycle to unfold. Here we make the field of all possibilities smooth and clear, ready for the new sprouting to occur.

Balsamic Moon
Focus to the Future

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in the lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on May 3 in early sidereal Pisces, lying slightly before the Vernal Point of Earth's Precessional Cross and conjoining Scheat of Pegasus.

Lying over the first half of sidereal Pisces is the Great Square of Pegasus, created by Markab, Scheat, Algenib and Alpheratz (occurring in that order in ecliptical longitude). The principles and qualities embodied by each of these four stars reveal the mysteries (wisdom) of refining self, the psycho-physiological vessel through which soul expresses, to become free from the bounds limiting us from participating in a more fulfilling and purposeful expression in the world. This refinement of self allows us to become able to participate in the world without becoming entrapped by the fear-instilling, dramatic, emotional and psychic forces common to the human collective. Theses stars impel us to rise from our primordial past into our destined evolutionary fulfillment, to become more through our human experience.

Scheat reveals the essence of sidereal Pisces, and brings attention to the waters of life and to the purity of our body fluids, especially the "lymph," which means Flowing Spirit of the Living Water of Life. Scheat pertains to all waters of the world, but also to body fluids, especially water's relationship to the purification of the physical vehicle and the body's requirement for refined life force energies to express through the fluids molecular matrix. Alignments with Scheat ask us to consider what we are doing with our primordial life force, how we are using our Chi / Xi, our primal energy. Scheat also asks us to integrate our primordial essence with the spiritual essence—to realize they are one flowing life-giving force.

Our Balsamic Moon brings us back into the wet, sensual, emotional, psychic and amorphous world of Pisces, where we learn to feel and flow, and to be okay with not knowing what comes next. Thus, the seed of this lunar month coalesces our lunar cycle. Our next New Moon occurs on May 6 amongst the stars of Aries the Ram. More to come then.
