Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.
Personalized Star Charts
This September 1, 2016 Lunar Cycle is packed full with non-stop significant planetary aspects occurring one after another, producing an exceptionally dynamic lunar month. It begins with an Annular Solar Eclipse on the North Lunar Node, visible in Africa and Madagascar. Following is a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse occurring on September 16, which is visible throughout Asia, India, Eastern Africa, and Western Australia.
Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave of experience. They offer a time to resynchronize our selves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness. Eclipses tend to bring about endings and new beginnings. How dramatic these changes can be and in what areas of our lives is a function of star alignments and other aspecting planets occurring at the time of the eclipse, and where they occur in our natal (and especially a relocated) chart. They can have a far greater effect in our lives when they conjoin other natal planets and personal points by ±6°. Eclipses bring emphasis to issues related to the chart area and planets involved. Eclipse influences generally last about six months, until the next eclipse occurs. Eclipse lunar cycles are ideal times to set new six-month goals to create personal change in our lives, not necessarily on the solar or lunar eclipse, but based upon the realizations we have throughout the eclipse lunar cycle.
Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play in the world, or how we articulate ourselves in life. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression, and addressing issues that keep us from doing so. They can invite a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.
Lunar eclipses tend to be more emotionally palpable in nature, how we feel about and respond to our life experience. They are about releasing the emotional bonds within ourselves that glue us to involvements that are less than we truly want or deserve. They are also about the emotional and experiential aspects of our relations with others and with the world. Lunar eclipses provide opportunity for an emotional resynchronization.
Several very significant events occur in this lunar cycle. Mercury's conjunction with Jupiter and the Dwarf Planet Makemake continues, which just began with the first of three Mercury-Jupiter conjunctions on the Last Quarter Moon of the previous lunar cycle (with the Mars-Saturn-Antares conjunction). Mercury began its retrograde just before the New Moon (on August 30), and the Mercury-Jupiter-Makemake energetic continues into the following lunar cycle, through October 11. This produces a catalytic few week dynamic impelling us to redefine how we think, our plans and the logistics in our lives, with a mobilizing and expansive force that can dramatize and expose transcendent truth obscured by diversionary rhetoric. It impels us to seek a deeper inner truth obscured by any diversionary distractions or clutter within our own lives. It brings emphasis to self-leadership as well as to leadership in the world, to what we are willing to risk and to self-assertion for achievement, and also to the administration of resources.
The Equinox occurs on September 22, with the Sun then conjoining Makemake and Jupiter, emphasizing a revelatory time. Jupiter and Makemake complete the their previous ~12-year synodic cycle at this time, which began in 1994, and begin their new 12-year cycle under the auspices of the Super Galactic Center in the Virgo Cluster of Galaxies, which continues through 2028. Jupiter's conjunction with Makemake on September 19-20 can bring more insight into Makemake's astrological nature because Jupiter tends to magnify the qualities of a planet it aligns with. Astrologers pay attention!
The third and final Saturn-Neptune geocentric square occurs, fully propelling us into the last quarter of the Saturn-Neptune 36.4-year synodic cycle that began in 1989, which continues through December of 2025. Entry into the last quarter of this cycle creates a significant shift in our longer-term evolutionary currents, now engaging us to actively create change in our personal and sociopolitical ideals and in what have now become antiquated structures we have created around them. See the Saturn-Uranus and Saturn-Neptune cycles that began in 1989 in the article "Sociopolitical & Personal Explorations 2016-2020."
Uranus and Eris, now both retrograde, make their second geocentric conjunction. Upsetting the apple cart is certainly a phrase that applies. The Uranus-Eris conjunction (opposite the Dwarf Planet Haumea) began a few months ago in 2016 and continues into 2017. Radical, unexpected and unprecedented actions and disclosures that eventually lead to progressive rebirth is the hallmark. See the article "New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017 Disclosure & Discovery Possibilities."
This New Moon eclipse lies in the midst of the stars of Leo and under the auspices of Thuban of Draco and Alioth of the Great Bear. It also conjoins the stars of the Sextant, and Suhail Velorum of Argo Navis in the very southern heavens.
Thuban of Draco, in the far northern heavens, just north of Alioth of the Great Bear, was Earth’s pole star circa 2800 BCE, a point in Earth’s ~25,000-year “evolutionary cycle of the soul” at which time a turning and fractioning occurred in the hierarchical powers governing Earth. This dramatized the separation between those choosing to fight for a greater evolutionary vision and those wanting to maintain totalitarian control of the Earth.
This was near the 180° point in Earth’s Precessional Cycle, which occurred about 4880 BCE, and which marked the epitome of darkness in the last temporal 12,000-year period in the precessionally driven, evolutionary cycle of the soul. Dark manipulative forces were specifically dominant from around 4800 BC to 2800 BC in Earth's evolutionary cycle. It was a time in the cycle of the passage from a matriarchal to a patriarchal dominant society. (We are now (circa 2000 A.D.) moving into a time in the cycle impelling a reunification of the matriarchal and patriarchal forces, albeit a slow process in precessional time.
Alignments with Thuban impel the need to take responsibility for the direction of evolutionary affairs for life on Earth set in motion in the distant past, with repercussions incurred at soul level, and with responsibility to ensure evolutionary fulfillment now. Thuban is not about the punctual moment, but more about the backdrop, the durative time-stream in which we find ourselves. Thuban's eminence in our celestial sphere demands we take responsibility for our past-future experience throughout our sojourn on Earth, especially for the destructive or disrupting use of power.
South of Draco but north of the Lion lies the Great Bear (Ursa Major), which extends west over Cancer as well. The variety of the Bear's stellar qualities fall into the ecliptic throughout these two sidereal signs. The primary stars of the Great Bear are generally associated with the global scene and world powers, but also impart specific energetics and lessons at a personal level.

Alioth of Ursa Major, star of personal free will, conjoins Thuban. Alignments with Alioth teach us responsible use of free will and that our personal actions can alter the evolutionary currents that create our souls’ evolutionary destiny. Alioth stimulates the use of personal will and our need to initiate personal action. Alioth is one of the classical seven rays of the Great Bear teaching incarnating souls the ramifications of the use of personal power and how it effects more than self and extends far beyond the punctual moment.
Also conjoining Thuban and Alioth are Alula Borealis and Alula Australis extending from Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major, which forms one the hind feet of the Great Bear, the other foot is formed by Tania Borealis and Tania Australis. Al Kaphrah and Alula impart a long-standing and established power, expressed as an assertive and powerful creative force applied to steer and protect. They are of stability, enduring strength and established authority.
The conjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4051 in Ursa Major adds a potent underlying force driving dynamic action. Thus, Alioth can express as forceful and manipulative use of power merely for personal gain, or when mastered, it can express as personal will attuned to Divine Will in phenomenal accomplishment that responsibly steers our evolutionary course.

South of the Lion is the Sextant. The primary stars are Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Sextans. The sextant is a navigational instrument used to determine the vertical position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon to determine one's position. The Sextant’s stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate. On a basic level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth.
Underlying the first half of sidereal Leo and the northern dynamics of Ursa Major and the world powers is the essence of the Sail of the Argo, Velorum. The Arab Suhail articulates the nature of the Sail of the Argo—of the elegant and subtle evolutionary currents guiding the plane (ship or craft) of the soul. "Suhail, among the Persians, is synonymous for wisdom; as in the Al Anwar i Suhaili, the Lights of Canopus. Also a personal title taken in Arabia as a symbol for what is brilliant, glorious, and beautiful—and even by the Arab nomads it is still used when referring to a handsome person." (Allen)
Suhail Velorum, a Supergiant star about 200 times the diameter of our Sun, impels us to attune to the transcendent or subtle energy currents that underlie the material world, those that support our greater incarnational sojourn. It invites us to steer our course through life with consideration for our long-term destinations rather than the diversionary dramatics and commotion common to the externalized world.
This New Moon eclipse and lunar cycle is about personal and global leadership, transcendent evolutionary currents, and the use of personal will to direct our evolutionary course with impetus to reassess changing conditions and to change our tack in life accordingly to reach our desired destinations, or it can propel us in new directions of creative expression. It is easy to be misled in our actions if we are not clear within self and set our course. Our opportunity is to attune to subtler guiding currents that can reveal right action in the right direction that is attuned to and in harmony with accomplishing our greater soul intent of purpose.
This New Moon, on the North Lunar Node, lies opposite retrograde Neptune on the South Lunar Node, creating a potent T-square to Saturn, which still conjoins the red supergiant star Antares. This creates a strong resonance not only to the theme of the Saturn-Neptune square, but also creates a strong stimulus for Saturn to express, which can manifest as the overt expression of established authoritarian power, especially in the big-business of politics. It also impels movement from the south to north node energetics, which means movement from antiquated ideals, veils of illusion and unfulfilled dreams of the past to the new directions and opportunities the eclipse inspires.
This is a potent and catalytic lunar cycle. It, along with all the events mentioned above, impels self-expression driven from an intensely focused inner purpose. It impels a reorganization of those in leadership roles and the use of power in the world, as well as how we lead our own lives or give our power away to the illusory reasons we create to justify disempowerment. It impels a turning or redirection of the affairs in our personal lives and those occurring in the world.
The Sun-Earth-Neptune alignment also marks the start of the new annual Earth-Neptune synodic cycle. Stars setting the theme of this new cycle include Eta and Zeta of the Urn, and Hydor (Lambda) and Skat (Delta), all of Aquarius.
Eta and Zeta are part of the Urn of the waterbearer, along with Sadachbia, from where the nourishing humanitarian waters flow. These stars produce both an expressive and receptive quality and are especially beneficent. They also conjoin Skat, Delta Aquarius. Skat is the "star of the foundation," marking the shinbone of the waterbearer. Skat is of philanthropic foundations, organizations, and business vessels through which material and financial support can flow for future-oriented humanitarian focused projects and for the nourishment of an evolved human society flourishing in the arts and sciences. Skat inspires action in support of this pursuit and brings hope for wishes fulfilled.
Hydor, Lambda Aquarius, lies in and guides the stream of the flowing waters of the humanitarian waterbearer. Hydor impels the appropriate distribution of resources. The name Hydor simply means water. Like the stars of the urn from which the waters flow, Sadalmelik, Sadachbia, Seat, Zeta and Eta (the Diamond of Aquarius), Hydor is a fortuitous star. This zodiacal location is also related to Varuna, goddess of the water's of life, who invites us to allow nature's way to weave its course. The stars conjoining and forming the Urn of Aquarius produce one of the purest areas of resonance in the ecliptic and one of the most fortuitous—the Angel Point of the Zodiak.

This is also just a couple of degrees to the exalted location for Neptune. Neptune’s surface is not solid like Earth’s. It is composed of a heavy layer of swirling clouds mainly composed of methane. Neptune’s bright blue surface appearance continually changes due to underlying winds that blow up to about 1500 miles per hour. This dense atmosphere morphs into liquid moving inward toward its icy silicate core. Neptune is made up mainly of hydrogen, helium, water and silicates. Neptune’s geophysical nature is one of the reasons for Neptune’s amorphous astrological nature, which is of dreams, visions, and ideals. Neptune dissolves that which is fixed and segregated into universality—the quality of humanitarian Aquarius. Neptune elevates and spiritualizes that which it aligns with toward higher more universal ideals.
Although our Saturn-Neptune square and Neptune's placement on the South Lunar Node during this eclipse is about relinquishment of pre-conceived constructs of reality agreed upon by consensus, Neptune's exaltation not only accentuates Neptune's dissolving qualities, but it also brings tremendous inspiration for new dreams and visions to emerge from the void, those which are more inclusive rather than exclusive, and which can express in the new directions in leadership this eclipse lunar cycle impels. This new synodic theme will fully engage when Neptune completes its retrograde on November 20, 2016, still conjoining the South Lunar Node.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, the New Moon through September 10 is an ideal time to work with the Saturn and Neptune audio meditations. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Moon conjoins Mercury, Jupiter and Makemake on September 2, triggering and engaging the beginning of the Mercury-Jupiter-Makemake energetic, and then Venus on September 3. The Moon conjoins Haumea on September 4, opposite the second Uranus-Eris conjunction. Uranus and Eris, both retrograde, are now within 1/2 of degree to the their exact conjunction. These lunar triggers create a dynamic start to this eclipse lunar cycle.
Jupiter and Makemake have been in a quintile aspect (72°) with Saturn. This becomes a part of a Grand Quintile, completed by Pallas, Ceres, and Vesta. It forms just before the Crescent Moon and continues through the First Quarter Moon of September 9. A Grand Quintile is a pentagram, or 5-sided star. This resonance represents the fully developed awakened and unique humanoid. A Grand Quintile impels an expansion of consciousness from the bounds of the quaternary world of opposites and standoffs. From my communications decades ago, Earthians are quarantined from interstellar participation until we mature beyond warring amongst each other. Unfortunately, that is still the case, although our planetary cycles certainly support us to get on with it. What will it take? Although this is a subtle and transitory geometry, it does occur at the start of the Solar Eclipse lunar cycle and makes more of a statement than anything, one suggesting an opportunity to lift ourselves from acquiescing to living within a boxed-in mentality and graduate from the bounds of limiting mind.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativity with the original lunar theme.
The Crescent Moon occurs on September 5 in early sidereal Libra, although in the constellation of Virgo, just past Spica, which marks the sidereal cusp. In our modern illustration of the supine Virgin, Spica marks the base chakra of the Virgin, with her legs extending throughout the first half of sign on Libra. There are a few minor stars entering the ecliptic here and include Izar of Bootes, Delta Centauri and Cauda Hydra. However, prominently conjoining are Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster in Argo Navis, the Giant Nebula NGC 3603, and the Centaurs X-3 neutron star. This is also the ecliptical location of the Shapley Super Cluster of Galaxies.
Theta Carina lies slightly south of the Galactic Equator on the keel of the Argo, Theta emits a peculiar spectrum, showing it to be a silicon-rich star, a peculiar chemical anomaly. It has an estimated luminosity of about 22,000 times that of our Sun. Theta also has an obscure name, "Vathorz Posterior" (of Old Norse-Latin origin), which means "Succeeding One of the Waterline," referring to the Galactic Equator upon which the Argo sails. Theta Carina is the prominent member of the Theta Carina Star Cluster, a bright open cluster of about 60 stars. The Theta Carina Cluster is sometimes referred to as the Southern Pleiades due to its resemblance. Slightly north of Theta Carina, along the galactic equator, is a giant stellar nursery surrounding the nebula NGC 3603, one of most compact clusters of young, massive stars in our galaxy.
Thousands of sparkling young stars nestled within the giant nebula NGC 3603. This stellar "jewel box" is one of the most massive young star clusters in the Milky Way Galaxy. NGC 3603 is a prominent star-forming region in the Carina spiral arm of the Milky Way, about 20,000 light-years away. This image shows a young star cluster surrounded by a vast region of dust and gas. The image reveals stages in the life cycle of stars. The nebula was first discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1834. The image spans roughly 17 light-years. Image Credit: NASA, ESA, and the Hubble Heritage
Theta Carina is a part of the Diamond Cross of Argo Navis, formed and headed by the prominent star Miaplacidus (Beta), along with Theta (Vathorz Posterior), Upsilon and Omega Carina. It, like the Southern Cross, does not have a central star in the center, thus forming a diamond more so than a cross. You must be south of 20° north latitude on Earth to see it. The Diamond forms the keel and hold of the Argo.
Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster are of secret knowledge, record keeping, scribing, and the articulation of intelligence regarding navigational matters and transcendent evolutionary currents of the soul. These stars also inspire designing and establishing the structural stability in our lives that support our evolutionary fulfillment. The Diamond also inspires mapping for special places, sites, centers, as well as the proper timing for this effort.
Centaurs X-3, an X-ray emitting pulsar with a period of 4.84 seconds, lies exactly on the galactic equator above the Theta Carina Star Cluster, and about 1° north of NGC 3603. Cen X-3 adds to the theme of Theta Carina and contributes significantly to the theme of early sidereal Libra and the Diamond of the Argo.
Cen X-3 imparts a transcendent guiding neurological impulse that incites a natural attraction toward harmony and beauty that is life promoting at a deep meditative level of consciousness. Here we may find unique events or portals occurring in space and time that can change our evolutionary experience and destiny if we are willing to transcend logistical mind and function from deeper levels of awareness, much like lucid dreaming. Opportunities presented here allow us to walk away from the mundane, from what is established in our lives, from what seems to make sense to onlookers. They require a leap into the void with the knowing there are subtle but greater soul-level currents that can carry us to our fulfillment. Learning to move in intimate trust and harmony with these forces is a key dynamic of this part of the zodiak. Thus, this is how our Crescent Moon expands upon the theme of our Eclipse New Moon.
The first few degrees of Libra, amongst the thighs of the Virgin, are about intimacy and our intimate relation with life, our personal environment, supporting a new birth, and having the support to express our greatest potential. This includes the psychophysiology (mental-emotional-physical correspondences) of the thighs: The back of our thighs (hamstrings) is of past or returning support, acquired support and personal ability; the outside of our thighs (abductors) is of external (non-intimate) support from friends, family and from our environment; the inside of our thighs (adductors) is of intimate support and of sexual intimacy; and the front of our thighs (quadriceps) is of future support; support to move forward. There can be various fears associated with each of these muscles, but they all have to do issues of support or about being supported, especially in regard to birthing or expressing self in our purity, truth, and greatest potential. The Shapley Super Cluster of Galaxies resonance here creates an exceptionally strong magnetic attraction. For the younger soul, placements here can express as a fear of intimacy with little capacity to accept, appreciate and embrace the differences and uniqueness of others—a resistance to magnetic attraction. For the more mature soul, such attraction into the intimate secrets of life provides a sense of adventure.
Jupiter and Makemake make their heliocentric conjunction on September 9, 2016, initiating the new Jupiter-Makemake ~12-year synodic cycle, which will continue through December 2028. This synod occurs under the auspices of the Super Galactic Center (SGC) in the Virgo Cluster of Galaxies. This cycle is markedly different than the previous cycle that began in May of 2004 at the hind of the Lion and under the auspices of the barking hounds, an area of diversionary smoke screens and grand spectacle used to hide true agendas—certainly a theme quite active then.
Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh - “e” is pronounced “ay” in Polynesian) is the Polynesian name for the creator god of humanity in the mythology of the South Pacific island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Makemake was recently discovered on March 31, 2005. Based upon an exploration of Makemake’s orbital parameters and its role during the 2008-2011 economic turn, Makemake appears to bring attention to leadership issues regarding the administration of resources; and in areas involving economics, ecology and human survival. Makemake may also act to sort out those who are truly worthy of being in a leadership role from those who are not.
Makemake's natal chart placement "may" have to do with how and where we respond to achievement and failure, perhaps when there is no in-between, resulting in either abundance and prosperity or utter devastation. It may be related to ecological balance, that is, living in harmony with nature or destroying what we do not understand is essential to life. Whatever we put at risk or are willing to sacrifice for achievement may be life promoting and sustaining, but if lost, can be life threatening and even life destroying, for that of self and others. More about Makemake.
Jupiter, King of the Planets, imparts a mobilizing and expansive force. It stimulates fluidity in movement, vitality and enthusiasm. It is of reciprocity—how we receive and re-express that which we have gained as gifts to the world. Jupiter is sociable and expresses in openness and willingness to palpate and embrace life, people and experience. It imparts a kinesthetic and magnetic quality; and reveals our physical fitness, strength and coordination.
Jupiter motivates us to aspire for something larger in our lives, beyond our current bounds. Jupiter will tend to magnify and expand the qualities of any other planet that it conjoins. Jupiter is often associated with money and the flow of resources because Jupiter is a mobilizing force and money is a mobilizing agent.
Jupiter is of higher or natural law, as compared to man’s laws. It is of spiritual truth and stimulates action upon this greater truth. Jupiter is sociable, serendipitous, opportunistic, fortunate and lucky; with taste for and appreciation of elegance end beauty (along with Venus). It is fun loving, good natured, free and independent. Jupiter impels us to participate freely in the material world and to participate in universal flow. More about Jupiter.
Our Galaxy, the Milky Way, is a whirling disc composed of hundreds of billions of stars, of which our sun is one, spinning around a dense and massive bulge of stars called the Galactic Nucleus or Galactic Centre. Our galaxy is one of about 30 galaxies comprising a cluster of galaxies called our "Local Group." Only one of these, the Andromeda galaxy, is close to the size of the Milky Way. The galaxies in our Local Group gently revolve around each other much like organisms floating in a protective embryonic fluid.
Our Local Group is merely one galactic cluster of many that comprise yet a large group called our "Local Super Cluster," which has about 5,000 member galaxies and is roughly 100 million light-years across. All of these embryonic clusters, harboring many evolving galaxies and forms of life, are like protective cocoons floating within the care of our Local Super Cluster.
The Virgo Cluster, one of the larger members of the Super Cluster, a highly non-uniform galaxy cluster, and the closest to us, is comprised of many hundreds of galaxies, ranging from giant and massive elliptical galaxies and spirals like our Milky Way, to dwarf galaxies, hundreds of times smaller. "Sub-clusters of galaxies" are seen to be forming around the major galaxies in the Virgo Cluster (around Messier 87, Messier 86 and Messier 49), which have yet to coalesce into new galaxy clusters of their own, revealing the continuing creative birthing process at a galactic magnitude.
The Virgo Cluster lies at the center of our Local Super Cluster. "Super Galactic Centre" (SGC) is a term that refers to a point in the Virgo Cluster that marks the centre of our entire Super Cluster. The supergiant galaxy M87 in the Coma-Virgo Cluster is believed to lie very close to the Super Galactic Centre. M87 has a halo extending out to at least 65 kpc (more than 200,000 light-years), which is more than twice the size of our own galaxy. Our galaxy, nested in our Local Group, lies about 50 million light years from the Super Galactic Centre in the Coma-Virgo Cluster.
Astrologically, the Super Galactic Centre can be thought of as the spiritual mother center from which life emerges and spiritual nourishment and guiding wisdom expresses. The Super Galactic Centre provides opportunity for our greater wellbeing, but only if we are willing to relinquish personal scenarios or past events in our lives that may seem that, if we let them go, the ramifications will result in our total demise. However, it is only through the surrender of the past into this massive cosmic essence of pure (selfless) Divine Love that allows our re-emergence, our re-birth, into a new light of being. This requires an inversion in consciousness—a conscious act where we pull the stream of our past experience into the singularity of the moment, allow it to be consumed in the ever-present now, and re-express self into a new stream unfolding into the future. This can feel as if our world is being turned inside out as our lives are re-defined. Super Galactic Centre invites us to empty ourselves and become pure vessels of spirit, committed to the fulfillment of the paths of our souls in the here and now, moment-by-moment, true to the heart of the Virgin principle.
Coma Berenices (Berenice’s hair) stands alone in this area of the heavens, slightly north of and over early sidereal Virgo. The stars forming Coma Berenices are not necessarily connected to any surrounding constellations other than being associated with Virgo. This makes sense when we realize that the North Galactic Pole (NGP) resides in Coma (5° sidereal Virgo), and our Super Galactic Center (SGC) of the Virgo Cluster lies slightly south, between the stars of Coma and Virgo. Coma Berenices is a recent name, but Diadem, the Alpha Star of Coma, which means crown, articulates the essence of this grouping of stars, referring to a crown or rose wreath over the head of the Virgin, which is fitting to our Super Galactic Center, which embodies the Divine Mother principle and the spiritual channel or corridor of our local galactic space—hence the Crown or Wreath of the Virgin.
Here we find the Coma Galaxy Cluster, which is close to and conjoining the NGP. The Coma Galaxy Cluster belongs to the Coma Super Cluster. It is one of two main clusters of galaxies in the Super Cluster. The other is the Leo Galaxy Cluster. The Coma Galaxy Cluster is one of the most populated clusters, with more than 10,000 galaxies, which is more than the number of visible stars in the night sky. The Coma Galaxy Cluster is moving away from us at a rate of about 15 million miles per hour (6,900 km/second). The Coma Galaxy Cluster lies just north of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster, which is the closest cluster to us and is the dominant cluster in the Virgo Super Cluster. Although they have a close proximity in the heavens, they are not close in distance, but the Coma Galaxy Cluster and the Virgo Galaxy Cluster are often referred to as the Coma-Virgo Cluster of galaxies. The Coma Super Cluster is much further from the Virgo Super Cluster but they are connected to each other through some minor filaments of galaxies.
Quite north of and over Coma Berenices and our Super Galactic Centre, is Theta Boötes, along with Iota and Kappa of Boötes, extending from Lambda Boötes, and which form his upraised left hand, taking a stance against old totalitarian meddling world powers that would like to suppress and control the creative process, the environment and the evolution of souls. Boötes is protector and consort of the Virgin, protector of the divine feminine principle.
Crater lies south of the ecliptic on back of Hydra. Its stars conjoin those of northern Coma, the crown of the Virgin. Crater is the receiver or receptacle (sometimes referred to as the Cup of Salvation). Crater impels us to transcend the busyness and diversions of life and to listen, to meditate and become receptacles of our greater soul wisdom and spiritual guidance.
Makemake is bathed in an entirely different stellar energetic compared to its location during the previous 2004 Jupiter-Makemake synod in late Leo. Makemake seems to impart a strong motive for personal achievement, to become a leader. Exactly what that motive is (how Makemake expresses in one's life) of course a function of many factors—emotional and spiritual maturity, soul-level awareness, soul-level maturity, star alignments, aspects, etc. Makemake seems to exhibit a high-risk adventurous quality, willing to go for all or nothing, even at the cost of life itself. Yet here, under the auspices of the SGC and its tremendous galactic emanations, we find impetus to align that motive for achievement with far greater spiritual awareness, with concern for all life and for the safe birthing of new life yet to come. In addition, we find impetus to take a stand against the meddling of old-paradigm totalitarian powers. This is quite different than the 2004 synod where impetus was more about covert affairs obscured by diversionary dramatics for personal accomplishment (consider the Bush-Hussein Iraqi war).
A few events occuring in May 2004, the time of the previous Jupiter-Makemake synod and conjunction.
(May 5) US White House Requests an additional $25 billion more for Iraq War.
(May 7-10) Secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld apologizes for abuse and torture in Iraq at hearings before the Senate and House Armed Services Committees. Despite Rumsfeld's willingness to resign, President Bush refuses his resignation and throws his support behind Rumsfeld. (May 11) Bush imposes economic Sanctions on trade with Syria (the Syria Accountability Act), citing its failure to reign over terrorist groups. (May 12) Members of Congress view an additional 1,800 pictures and video images of abuse of Iraqi prisoners. Many say they are more gruesome and explicit than those previously made public.
A CNN report noted that the United States-led interim government, the Coalition Provisional Authority (April 2003 - June 28, 2004) in Iraq, had lost $8.8 billion in the Development Fund for Iraq. In June 2011, it was reported by CBS News that $6 billion in neatly packaged blocks of $100 bills was air-lifted into Iraq by the G.W. Bush administration. In total, the Times says $12 billion in cash was flown into Iraq in 21 separate flights by May 2004, all of which had disappeared. Director of the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, Stuart W. This 2016 Jupiter-Makemake synod in Virgo (SGC), their geocentric conjunction, and the new 12-year cycle impel us to attune to embracing evolutionary and ecological matters. They invite us to consider what we are willing to put at risk to achieve what we pursue. They bring attention to the administration of our resources, those personal and those global, and issues of our very survival as a world in a far vaster environment (the Virgo-Coma Clusters). Here, leadership cannot be driven from self-interest alone, common to previous political-religious figureheads and demonstrated by their grand diversionary antics upon the global stage (the 2004 alignments), it must mature into a purer intellectual and spiritual prowess with concern for all life and for more embracing evolutionary and ecological matters.
We have opportunity to observe Makemake's influence in this new (supergalactic) light as Jupiter conjoins Makemake on September 19, and how this synthesis will play out. Jupiter will magnify and mobilize Makemake's resonance in our lives, and this spiritual light emanating from this part of the heavens will illuminate and make visible details previously unseen. So diversionary antics and motive of those seeking leadership positions in power may become far more transparent, except to those who remain to follow blind, but not for those awake to see. Mercury's retrograde coinciding and conjoining with Jupiter and Makemake, now through October 11, along with our current eclipse lunar cycle, and along with the third Saturn-Neptune square and the second Uranus-Eris conjunction occuring within it, certainly impels a turning in our personal lives and in our evolutionary course as a world.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on September 9 in sidereal Scorpio just past Saturn and conjoining Mars. Conjoining stars include Ras Algethi of Hercules, Sabik of Ophiuchus, Mu and Zeta in the body of the Scorpion, and several stimulating x-ray sources.
First Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
Hercules stands upside down in the northern Heavens, north above Ophiuchus, with his feet (foundation) in the Heptanomis (the seven heavens of the celestial dome), in the realm of the gods; and with his head and hands at work in the realm of humankind aiding those in the incarnate world struggling to claim their freedom from perpetuated mortal entrapment.
Ras Algethi is the lucida (brightest star) of this constellation and marks the head of Hercules. Ras Algethi embodies the wisdom of Hercules (derived partly from his heavenly heritage and partly from his challenging Earthian experience) and contributes significantly to the Ophiuchus / Scorpio theme. Hercules is one seeded from another realm but who is intimately aware of the human dilemma, the struggle and its cause (the alchemical amalgamation of those from the heavens with those of the Earth). His beauty and intelligence he gains from Alcmene his mother and his wisdom of evolutionary matters along with his shrewd sagacity he gains from Zeus is father. The motivation behind his undaunted and bold actions expresses from experiencing the human struggle and knowing the heavenly freedom possible. His presence upon the incarnational plane is of a service capacity, a mission of evolutionary proportion—to ensure our evolutionary freedom both personally and for all souls on Earth.
Sabik (Eta) is the second brightest star in Ophiuchus and is a binary star system, with one star rotating around the other in an 88-year cycle. Sabik, at the loincloth of Ophiuchus, reveals a powerfully transformative location in sidereal Scorpio, one offering a significant transmutational experience due to the alchemical intermixing of elements, often of a sexual, genetic, biological or botanical nature. Sabik is also of medicine, healing, medical research and the art-science of alchemy. Conjoining Sabik are a few stimulating entries, including the V2107 Nova of 1977 in Ophiuchus, and a dynamic X-ray eclipsing binary star in the tail of the Scorpion, 3U1700-37, one of the brightest identified X-ray sources.
Sabik of Ophiuchus, and surrounding entries, can stimulate involvements that lead to our greater biological well-being and illumination—especially regarding transmutation of our experience and our human condition from a lower-order to a more refined state of being. This level of transmutation in our lives requires full unconditional acceptance and integration of our past experience, so the bioenergetic patterning we hold within can be inverted to re-express its compliment—thus allowing a new expression that subsequently draws new fulfilling experience. This process in esoteric science and physics is called time-reversal or phase-conjugation. In advanced healing and meditative techniques, this is a means of producing the opposite but properly phased cellular pattern or signature within self that cancels (actually fulfills) the existing pattern we embody. Generally, this is an all-or-nothing deal requiring our unconditional willingness to embrace the healing / transmutational process. Sabik also can simply indicate a threshold to cross or transition to make, generally regarding a change in our neurology, how we act, or in our capacity to take action to change and evolve.
Now, after the Mars retrograde earlier in the year and the retrograde's culmination with the Mars-Saturn-Antares conjunction, and now with Saturn's retrograde complete, we have our Mars-First Quarter Moon's stimulus to action. It should feel like a stimulating relief as we can now take progressive action once again. Mars and First Quarter Moons go well together as both impel creative action. This is assuming a mature and masterful Mars expression, which is an initiating creative force. It can also trigger an aggressive response in its lesser expression. Either way, here in Scorpio, passion runs high. This First Quarter Moon brings emphasis to realize that it is by helping others that we help ourselves as well as help to establish a new world paradigm. It brings stimulus to apply the changes we have made within ourselves over the last many months in a service capacity to help free others from domination or suppression. It may seem as if a Herculean task may be at hand, and perhaps so. There are however powerful magnetic forces drawing us forward into an unknown future. Trust and take action.
Saturn, now direct, makes its third and final geocentric square with Neptune on September 10, fully propelling us into the last quarter of the Saturn-Neptune 36.4-year synodic cycle that began in 1989 cycle, now engaging us to actively create change in our personal and sociopolitical ideals and in the now antiquated structures we have built around them. The Saturn-Neptune square is presented in detail in the article "Sociopolitical & Personal Explorations 2016-2020."
Retrograde Mercury and the Sun conjoin on September 12, hours before the Gibbous Moon. Mercury and Sun conjoin Denebola, tail of the Lion. North are the stars of Canes Venatici, the barking hounds. South is Alpha Antilia, the hot air pump. In the very southern heavens is Delta Velorum, on the sail of the Argo.
Mercury's retrograde began on August 30, just before the New Moon eclipse conjoining Venus, Jupiter and Makemake, and nesting in time between the first two Mercury-Jupiter conjunctions, occurring on August 22 and September 2. All of these events occurred in the first couple of degrees sidereal Virgo. Primary conjoining stars included Benetnash of Ursa Major and Zavijava of Virgo. Jupiter (and Venus) passed a mere quarter of a degree over the star Zavijava. We can say this set the stage for the continuing retrograde and Mercury and Jupiter's conjunction with Makemake, and the final Mercury-Jupiter conjunction with Jupiter, which occurs on October 11. Benetnash and Zavijava are of big business and politics, its leadership, and their followers.
You can pause the video and drag the progress bar to view any section of the video.
Benetnash, Eta Ursa Major, is a young bluish-white star, with a mass six times that of our Sun and 700 times more luminous. Benetnash is oddly considered to be the tail of the Great Bear, although bears do not have long tails, but it does make sense as the handle of a big dipper. Unlike the five middle stars of Ursa Major (Mizar, Alioth, Megrez, Phecda and Merak), which move as a loosely knit group in the same direction, Benetnash (and Dubhe) are not of this group and move in different directions, both are quite different in character however. Benetnash means “hired mourners.” The Arabic name for Benetnash is Alkaid, which means "the leader," perhaps alluding to its tendency to produce self-proclaimed leaders—follow my tail. Reinhold Ebertin reported that primary planetary transits to Benetnash are often associated with claiming human lives through calamities, and thus of death and mourning, based upon his research of planetary transits to this star over centuries. George Noonan reports that Islamic astrologers considered this star to be "the destroyer of nations." [Fixed Stars and Judicial Astrology, George Noonan, 1990, p.5.]
Benetnash expresses the old dictatorial and totalitarian stream of consciousness that was predominant when Earth's polar alignment was tilted (had fallen) furthest from the galactic plane in Earth's great precessional year (about 6000 years ago). Thus Benetnash is of this long-established totalitarian governing paradigm—generally of a patriarchal nature. Benetnash articulates the administrative aspects of governments and the political-religious factions of big-business and their figureheads.
Benetnash ultimately teaches that leadership is about facilitating the self-empowerment and freedom of others rather than about exerting manipulative force that controls and destroys others, mistaken as leadership and being in a position of power.
In its old form and when expressing with influence of the stars of late Leo (the tail of the Lion, the racket of Canes Venatici and the hot air of Antilia), Benetnash articulates those who tend to act as manipulating and controlling godheads, which perpetuates a dogmatic societal structure that keeps individuals from becoming self-responsible and from evolving into their own self-mastery. It is of leadership that dictates what is right for people and what they should do by using dramatic and diversionary propaganda, rather than supporting others to make their own choices in freedom. It can be of the self-proclaimed saviors of the world who try to amass their blind followers for their own interest in maintaining a position of power and wealth. The days of dictators, gurus and followings, perhaps at one time served the sleeping masses, but they are now manipulative and suppressive to the emergence of a new soul-aware consciousness on Earth.
When expressing with more of Virgo's influence (and the stars of Coma Berenices, Crater, and Velorum), and for the more mature and spiritually awakened, Benetnash incites leadership that provides opportunity for people to live in the freedom of their own choices and to become self-empowered, and to awaken in consciousness rather than acquiescing as blind followers.
Lying just under Benetnash and conjoined in longitude is the Super-giant Whirlpool Galaxy M51 of Canes Venatici, the barking hounds, and Cor Caroli, the Alpha star of the hounds. Cor Caroli, M51, and Canes Venatici in general, embody the diversionary tactics, usually of a grandiose scale and glamorous facade, a front large enough to draw attention away from what is really of going on by making the masses believe the staged show is what is of extreme importance and of real issue—corruption at the highest of levels. A Super Nova was discovered in M51 on Apr. 2, 1994, marking another upsurge in this energetic.
M51 The Giant Whirlpool Galaxy & its companion galaxy Image Credit: Credit: NASA, ESA, S. Beckwith (STScI), and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA)
Conjoining Benetnash and Cor Caroli is Zavijava, which lies nearly on the ecliptic. Although a star of Virgo, Zavijava lies outside the realm of Virgo proper, before the head of the Virgin. It does not offer the clarity and purity of awareness common to the rest of the Virgo stars. Zavijava is of a passive and submissive character, articulating the blind and naïve followers of the Benetnash directive / big business and government. These are most often innocent naive unquestioning people who get swayed by the diversionary dramatics of their manipulative leaders and believe in the miss-information they are being fed.
Benetnash and Zavijava impel us to examine and discern whether we are blindly following self-proclaimed totalitarian authoritarian political-religious rulers and gurus and their propaganda or if we are seeking a deeper fulfillment based in and guided by true spiritual principles—trusting our own inner guidance. As business or political leaders, Benetnash and Zavijava impel us to examine whether we are dictating behavior and are creating followings, or if we are facilitating the self-empowerment and freedom of those who may work for us or may govern. They ask us to evolve how we are applying our positions of authority—to learn that being in a position of power is a position of service.
Conjoining from the south are Labrum (Delta), Epsilon and Theta of Crater. Here is a different quality altogether. Crater is the Golden Chalice, the Cup of Salvation, or simply the Cup of Fulfillment. Alkes (Alpha), Labrum (Delta) and Epsilon of Crater straddle the Leo-Virgo Cusp. Alkes means cup and Labrum is associated with the quest for the Holy Grail. Further south are the stars of Vela, sail of the Argo and Avior Carina of Argo Navis, which conjoins Alkes Crater. These stars inspires us to seek a greater fulfillment and the transcendent truth that lies hidden beyond the diversionary shenanigans, dramatics and smoke screens occurring in the world around us, and those produced by the self-proclaimed talking heads of big-business and politics.
So the stage is set and Mercury begins its retrograde back across the cusp to its solar conjunction with Denebola, tail of the Lion. Denebola, along with earlier Zosma and Chort, a triangle of stars, create the hind of the lion. Denebola is of indicative of diversions obscuring the true path to fulfillment. Antlia fuels the fire that creates the diversionary smoke and grand spectacle. North are Cor Caroli, Asterion and the stars of Canes Venatici, the barking hounds, the agents and factions of totalitarian powers creating distracting racket and misleading propaganda.
This area of the zodiak can stimulate dynamic creative expression, but it can also be filled with diversionary commotion and grand spectacle. It is often of those manipulating the affairs of the world for personal motive while offering salvation from the human struggle. It is also of those of pure intent, those with true wisdom, the seers (Avior of the Argo), who are either hidden behind the scenes or who may be on stage but without ulterior motive. These stars create a diverse polarity of energy that set Leo’s “back stage.” Thus, it impels a need to create the inner clarity making discernment possible, and this we might say is the mission of our Mercurial retrograde.
Mercury continues it retrograde under the hind of the Lion through September 21 (22 UT), where it stations under the auspices of Mizar of the Great Bear. This occurs on the Equinox and just after Jupiter makes is conjunction with Makemake—presented below.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
The Gibbous Moon occurs on September 13 in Capricorn conjoining the Head of the Goat. Conjoining stars include Algedi, Dabih and Rho of Capricorn; Theta Aquila; Delta, Zeta and Gamma of Sagitta, and Phi Cygnus, all in the northern heavens. In the southern heavens are Alpha Microscopium and Theta Indus.
Algedi (Alpha), horn of the goat, and Dabih (Beta) Capricorn, mark the head of the goat. Actually there are two Alpha Stars, Alpha Prima and Alpha Secunda (or Alpha 1 & 2). They are a wide pair, thus visible with the naked-eye. They are optically similar, both yellowish-orange in color with similar magnitudes. Both stars are also binary star systems, each with faint companions.
Algedi and conjoining Dabih, also a double star, are of covert and secret places: caves, spiritual or exclusive retreats and sanctuaries—isolated places with a specific focus—sacred sites or places of power. Algedi is also of places of unique purpose: such as scientific centers, even military / extraterrestrial bases or outposts. Although such places may seem to be isolated, lying helter-skelter upon the Earth, they are often strategically or naturally distributed upon Earth’s energy grid. That which occurs at these locations is of significance in the greater evolutionary process for all souls and for the Earth herself because the energy at these points radiates throughout the Earth's energy matrix. Algedi can also impel covert operations, manipulative maneuvers, and all that is secret or hidden behind the scenes. Algedi imparts a highly inquisitive and prodding nature. It motivates exploration into secret or obscure places and impels covert activities for personal gain or for a specific purpose.
Aquila, the northern Eagle, perched high above the Earth, is of removed stillness and has astute observation to detail. The Eagle is of equilibrium and poise, with global vision and local purpose. As the Eagle flies high above the Earth, with eyes capable of focusing on the most minute detail, it assesses, examines, and awaits its opportunity. Removed and alone, the Eagle pin-points its pursuits from objective balance, and to then dive into the world with surety and boldness. Generally the stars of Aquila are of applied personal force and power expressed with fierce eloquence and graceful beauty. Altair, eye of Aquila the Eagle, lies north, above the goat. Altair is of extraterrestrial vision and strategic command centers. In classical astrology, Altair is of military force and power. Altair imparts an administrative quality. Theta Aquila (conjoining Algedi) marks the southern wing tip of the Eagle, and is of eloquent maneuvers, like that performed by extraterrestrial spacecraft.
North of Aquila extending over the first decan of sidereal Capricorn is Sagitta, the Missile of Zeus. Gamma marks the tip of the missile. Nesting within the missile is the Globular Cluster M71, metallic in character. Sagitta lies under Vulpecula and Cygnus. Sagitta embodies our strategic arsenal of tools—whether applied for war or peace—this includes our personal tools to accomplish our goals in the material world.
South of Capricorn is Microscopium. Alpha Microscopium conjoins the head of the Goat and the stars of Sagitta. The stars of Microscopium impart a capacity for detailed and intelligent investigation, which is required for proper application of our strategic tools and our strategies in life. Both Alpha Microscopium and the stars of Sagitta exemplify a highly detailed focus with pin-point accuracy.
All of these stars impart a capacity to seek out that which is hidden. If applied for war, the rest is obvious. Although these stars do not inherently impart a malicious character, as they are ideal for research and discovery, but do have a more cloaked and clandestine nature and impel a tendency toward secrecy, privacy and seclusion. The capacity for extra-ordinary focus and attention to detail contributes to the research orientation and strategist type qualities that are prominent here.
Indus, a southern constellation directly under the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, was recently added in the early 1600's by German astronomer Johann Bayer of Augsberg. Bayer articulates the qualities of this constellation as a nude (native) man holding arrows in both hands, (without a bow). In Chinese astronomy, Alpha Indus is the desert Persian (Allen).
Indus articulates the qualities and skills of a native indigenous person, much like a Native American Elder, the Australian Aboriginal, the Desert Arab or Persian, the Hawaiian Kahuna, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Either way, Indus’ adornment, what ever it may be, is with specific purpose, often including the use of ceremonial magik or prayer. Indus can blend in and disappear or invoke a mysterious power for a specific purpose.
Indus also articulates the steward of a special place or sacred land, or a keeper of sacred knowledge and sacred ways; and imparts the quality of a steward or a shamanistic way of life. Such people are most often highly astute and specialized, able to comprehend the intimate relation to the unseen forces guiding our lives and the natural world in which we live. Indus understands our connectedness to the land, and the importance of the location in which we live, our "places of power" that support our wellbeing and purposes in life. Indus impels a deep respect for the land, for life, and is sensitive to a place's power and purpose. Alpha and Beta Indus impel the masterful expression of Indus.
Our Gibbous Moon's socially attractive character may have a bit of an anti-social tone to it, not in a negative way, but more with self-focus and self-interest. It may spark interaction about independence and independent pursuits, whether for personal gain, physical position or advantage, or for greater personal knowledge and understanding. This energetic is inquisitive, research oriented and is extremely discriminating. It can inspire interest or involvement with esoteric artsciences, and with the secret places and orders associated with those artsciences. Attention may turn to our strategies in life and application of our resources, whatever they may be.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some
is a New World for those who realize it is.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of “vision and enthusiasm.” The time just after Full Moon is a one of “realization of the lunar month’s theme,” a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
The Sun, Earth, the Moon and Chiron align on September 16 initiating a new Earth-Chiron synodic cycle, and the Full Moon Penumbral Eclipse. This planetary alignment is also square to the Centaur Pholus and Mars on the cusp of sidereal Scorpio-Sag, conjoining Cebalrai, the shoulder and the right foot of Ophiuchus, and the Sting of the Scorpion. The Full Moon alignment is also inconjunct to the Uranus-Eris conjunction.

The Centaurs are somewhat rogue and radical in nature, believed to have entered into the realm of our outer solar system from the outside. Since the Centaurs do not have their own strong orbital resonance, they generally have unstable orbits and are greatly influenced by the orbital resonances of the larger planets, and thus synchronize with the orbits of the larger planets, acting as unique escorts from one planetary realm to another.
Chiron classically is the Wounded Healer, which means our wounds are that which heal us. Chiron's placement in one's chart reveals areas in our lives where personal healing is required, where we need to find wholeness. Chiron acts as a bridge or escort between Saturn and Uranus. Chiron can indicate where a bridge is to be created and crossed, either from established, structured and crystallized patterns (Saturn) to radical new possibilities (Uranus), or to bring new discoveries and new levels of consciousness into concretized form. Prominent alignments with Chiron can indicate involvement in health-care or healing modalities, or with discoveries and new technologies applied in these areas. Chiron is also associated with the introduction of extraterrestrial technologies to humankind.
Chiron is now in the last couple of degrees of sidereal Aquarius moving toward is passage through Pisces. Chiron has just move north of the celestial equator, and lies north of the ecliptic by about 4°, moving toward its south node which lies in late Pisces. Although in the sign of Aquarius, Chiron has moved away from the stars of Aquarius and nests in "The Circlet" of stars, which marks the head of the western fish of Pisces. The Moon and Chiron also conjoins Markab and Mu of Pegasus, Beta Phoenix, and Beta and the Zetas of Reticuli, which reside in the very southern heavens.
The western fish of Pisces and the “Circlet” of stars marking its head articulates our primordial autonomic (sleeping) nature, and our unconsciously reactive participation in the cycle of mortal life. It is of our inherited genealogies that we are born into and the behavioral patterns they express.
Markab, Alpha Pegasus, the primary star of Pegasus, is the first of four very principal stars creating the Great Square of Pegasus. The principles and qualities embodied in each of these four stars reveal the requirements for our psycho-physiological preparation to become free from the bounds limiting us from participating in a more fulfilling and purposeful expression in the world. This "refinement of self" allows us to rise above the bounds of the psychic-emotional entrapments common to collective human consciousness to become far more than our ancestry. These four stars have long been associated with the feet of a table or stand, thus a supporting foundation or stage upon which something else transpires, is supported, or rises from.
Markab is of the physical corporeal body, the vessel of the soul. Markab brings attention to the physical condition of our bodies at the genetic and cellular level. Markab is the vehicle through which soul expresses and participate in physicality. Markab not only brings attention to our physical body and its health—the body being the temple / vessel of the soul—but to the physical aspects of our lives and of our relations, how we interrelate in our human physicality. Markab asks us to honor the physical needs of the human body and to fully embrace the physical aspects of our lives.
Conjoining the Circlet and Markab are Beta and Delta Phoenix. Beta Phoenix marks the body or heart of the Phoenix. Delta is a part of the tail along with Psi. The Phoenix is a totem of transformation and rebirth, as the durative soul in incarnate form dies and births again into a new biological form, thus the theme of rising from the ashes or trials of the past (or past life).
Beta Reticuli and the Zetas of Reticuli express from the very southern heavens into late sidereal Aquarius. Reticuli, the rhomboid or diamond, embodies the essence of our DNA, that of carbon based-life forms, which we are. Reticuli is sometimes referred to as "the net"—which we might also consider to be our neural-net. Alpha and Beta Reticuli embody the purer aspects of the reticule. Reticuli articulates the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity—like carbon can become a diamond—our potential—providing holographic awareness literally in our DNA. This makes it possible for the soul to manifest and express in its undistorted perfection. Such refinement produces a refined state of awareness with the ability to live above any psychic-emotional entrapments.
The Zetas of Reticuli (plural because there are two Zeta stars, Zeta 1 and Zeta 2, separated by ~5 minutes of arc, and ~2 lightyears from each other in distance) also conjoin Markab at the Piscean cusp. The Zetas are estimated to be about 35 lightyears from our star system. The Zetas are two remote star systems disconnected from the main body of the Reticuli constellation. They exemplify the search through the labyrinth of genetic duality to learn how to illuminate the DNA into one unified spiral of light.
Beta Reticuli, along with the Zetas, impels capacities and exploration into the science of genetics and psychic sciences for the advancement of conscious awareness, healing and biological development. This includes areas such as telepathy, remote viewing in both space and time, and other more advanced supernormal or extrasensory cognitive and physical abilities. All of these stars inspire pursuits to ensure we are physically, emotionally and mentally clear and evolved for the expression and manifestation of our greatest potential.
Our Full Moon brings our Thuban-Alioth-Sextant lunar cycle to its culmination. Lunar eclipses are about releasing the emotional bonds within ourselves that glue us to involvements that are less than we truly want or deserve, providing opportunity for an emotional resynchronization. Here we are talking about long-standing genetically inherited and primordial patterns—thus the undercurrent for our new Chiron cycle and the six-month eclipse cycle ahead, as well as inspiring vision and realization for this lunar cycle.
This Chiron Lunar Eclipse and entire planetary configuration provides a strong statement about our need and opportunity to personally evolve beyond the patterns of our heritage and lineage. This is essential to demonstrate in our personal lives if we want our world to graduate into a new realm of experience—free from the quarantine we maintain.
The Moon is always full when looking from the Sun,
except when Earth gets in the way.
The Sun moves into the sign of sidereal Virgo on September 17, moving toward its conjunctions with Jupiter and Makemake. The Moon conjoins Uranus and Eris opposite Haumea and Venus and trine to Mars and Pholus on September 18. Jupiter and Makemake conjoin on September 19 (Sept 20 0:21 UT), presented above, an hour before the Disseminating Moon—a stimulating few days.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on September 19 (Sept 20 UT) in sidereal Aries. The Moon conjoins Mu Ceti, nesting between Kaffaljidhma, the base of the head of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Also conjoining are the feet of Andromeda, Beta Triangulum, Achrid, Castula and Gamma Cassiopeia, and Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant of 1572 CE.
This area of the zodiak is predominately about the Royal Family, created by King Cepheus, Queen Cassiopeia, and their daughter the princess Andromeda, which all lie north of the ecliptic. The body of Cetus the Sea Monster lies submerged in sidereal Pisces, but its neck and head reach up upon the shores of Aries, with its head lying in mid-sidereal Aries. Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness.
La Délivrance d'Andromède (1679) Pierre Mignard, Louvre.
King Cepheus of Ethiopia and Queen Cassiopeia thank Perseus for freeing their daughter Andromeda.
In the story of Andromeda and Royal Family, Queen Cassiopeia’s boastful arrogance that her daughter, princess Andromeda, was more beautiful than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea, peeved Poseidon. As punishment, Poseidon sent Cetus the Sea Monster to ravage the shores of Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. Cepheus was advised that the only way to appease Poseidon was to sacrifice is daughter to Cetus. In acquiescence, the King had Andromeda chained to the cliff at the sea to be devoured by Cetus. Andromeda, although inheriting this unfortunate sentence, has a far greater and fortuitous destiny awaiting her. Perseus eventually kills Cetus and frees Andromeda. Perseus and Andromeda marry and they go on to create a city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world.
The beautiful and nearly perfect shaped Andromeda Spiral Galaxy M31 is our largest nearby neighbor, a mer 2.5 million light yeas away. The disc spans about 260,00 light-years, compared to our own Milky Way Galaxy which spans about 100,000 light years across.

The head of Cetus articulates the intelligence of Cetus, which is marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the head, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Who is it that creates this central intelligencia? Many would like to blame the monster on every thing and every one outside of self, a victim mentality perpetuating our human condition and the entrapments we find ourselves in. However, the key phrase here is “human consciousness.” This implies each of us is responsible for the collective consciousness we find ourselves in—the reality of our personal lives and that of our world we uphold by consensus.
Achird of Cassiopeia asks us to realize that we create and perpetuate the very things that we perceive as trying to detour or devour us. Achird brings attention to the fact that the monsters and the entrapments in which we find ourselves become manifest by our own righteous and arrogant attitudes of self-importance. Castula of Cassiopeia impels us to express a purer form of self, rather than from one of bitterness, spite or arrogance, which in turn allows us to move up and out of an entrapping situation from which there seems no solution or escape.
Tycho’s Super Nova Remnant of 1572 A.D., an x-ray source in Cassiopeia lies between the ecliptical longitudes of Beta and Gamma Triangulum. Triangulum teaches us to see beyond the judgments of fear-based dualistic mind and the dramatics it produces. Here is the statement "let thine eye become single"—to see from unity consciousness, which in turn makes it possible to rise above and beyond the "controlling verses being controlled" mentality and its subsequent entrapment.
Our Disseminating Moon impels us to be the intelligence responsible for our own human condition rather than giving our power away to the techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, which feeds on guilt and fear for food. We are also inspired to recognize, perhaps through reflection of events, conditions or people in our lives, that any issues we have with them are made manifest by our inner resonance. To change this resonance within self is to change our physical experience in the world.
Mercury completes its retrograde on September 21 (Sep 22 UT), still under the hind of the Lion but now under the auspices of Mizar of the Great Bear. The Equinox occurs several hours later on September 22 (14:21:04 UT).
Mizar of the Great Bear, Zeta Ursa Major, is the overseeing and predominant star of this area of the zodiak. Mizar, and its companion Alcor, articulates raw fiery energy that must express one way or another. Mizar must have a creative outlet, but for its proper expression, we must apply it with clear creative vision. Mizar brings attention to the use of our creative energies, our creative and destructive tendencies, and the fear to create lest it may result in destruction. Here we learn the nature of such volatile forces. Mizar, with averted alignments, is also known for catastrophic fires or massacres. Mizar can however express quite artistically—just as gunpowder can express as beautiful fireworks or devastating explosions. Mizar tends to express in a grand way, in character with showy and dramatic Leo. Mizar imparts a dynamic, action-oriented creative artistic expression.
The Eye of Sauron
NGC 4151 is a spiral galaxy with an actively growing supermassive black hole at its center. It has been dubbed "The Eye of Sauron" by astronomers due to its resemblance to the character in "The Lord of the Rings" movies. Image Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/CfA/J.Wang et al.; Optical: Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes, La Palma/Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope, Radio: NSF/NRAO/VLA
Asterion and the conjoining Seyfert Galaxy NGC4151, both of the barking hounds, Canes Venatici, conjoin Mizar. Seyfert galaxies are spiral galaxies that have very dense and bright cores (nuclei) that express a broad spectrum of emission lines, which suggests extremely hot gases in violent motion. In general, Seyfert galaxies tend to stimulate dynamic, powerful and directed action.
Although of a dynamic, outgoing, artistic creative character, Mizar, Asterion and Chort, at the hind of the Lion, can also produce a lot of dramatic racket and fiery commotion due to toxic conditions or an unrefined awareness. This can also be a part of the often diversionary tactics intended to distract the unsuspecting from the real issues or path at hand, a theme common to late Leo.
The conjoining Pulsar CP1133 in Leo provides impulses to act upon our intuition and upon the more subtle evolutionary and guiding currents articulated by the stars of Velorum, the sail of the Argo, in this case Psi, Omi and Delta Velorum, which lies below in the southern heavens. Delta Velorum provides and opening or way through the diversionary dramatics in the global arena for those who are able to function on more refined evolutionary currents.
Mercury's direct station marks a primary transition point in the Mercury-Jupiter-Makemake dynamic, now impelling us to apply, with discernment, the clarity gained throughout the Mercury's retrograde. Mercury will now head towards its conjunction with Makemake (occurring on October 8) and then Jupiter (on October 11), bringing to completion this transition into the new 12-year Jupiter-Makemake cycle. Observing conditions in the political scene in mid-October compared to how they were in August may bring additional insight into how this transition played out in the world and in the lives of those seeking positions of leadership in the world.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, The 24 hours leading into the Mercury station is an ideal time to work with the Mercury audio meditation. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on Sept 23 on the "Gate of Man" sidereal Gemini, with the Sun conjoining but not yet to Makemake and Jupiter. The Moon opposes Mars (now conjoining Quaoar in early Sagittarius) six hours before, in the crescendo of, the Last Quarter Moon. The Moon also conjoins Menkalinan of Auriga, and Betelgeuse and the Sword of Orion.
Last Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
The "Gate of Man" impels the expression of our greater ideals and life purpose through the daily activity of humankind. It drives our need to respond to and participate in life and to support progressive evolutionary change, being one of the nodes of the primary axis of Earth’s Precessional Cross (opposite the Gate of God at 5° sidereal Sagittarius). This is where the galactic equator and the ecliptic intersect.
Moving along the ecliptic toward the Gate of Man, we are south of the galactic equator, Here we tend to delve into the depths of mind to find practical meaning to our ideals and purpose in life (the Gate of God), to define and articulate that meaning with logistical mind. As we continue across the Gate of Man, crossing from south to north of the galactic equator, we become impelled to externalize and actualize our amalgamated thoughts into the daily world of human affairs. This is where the Last Quarter Moon resides.
Betelgeuse is the second brightest star in the constellation of Orion. It is a red supergiant, one of the biggest stars known, and almost 1000 times larger than our Sun, according to conventional scientific methods of calculation. It is also one of the most luminous stars known, emitting more light than 100,000 Suns. As such, it contributes a principal energetic to this area of the zodiak.
Betelgeuse marks Orion's right shoulder, from which he holds the upraised sword just under the Gate of Man. Betelgeuse embodies the theme of a male warrior, is of a kingly nature, authoritative and is of human resourcefulness in action. Betelgeuse inspires a sense of responsibility to dynamically response to whatever is occurring in the moment—to adapt and respond. Betelgeuse will challenge existing systems or authorities to cut through whatever is in the way of solution. Physical constructive response is the hallmark of Betelgeuse.
Menkalinan, the right shoulder of Auriga the Charioteer, conjoins Betelgeuse, the right shoulder of Orion, and the "Gate of Man." Menkalinan is of mutual support amongst colleagues, imparting a sense of responsibility to assist each other in the world of daily human affairs to help mobilize one’s efforts and opportunity for success. Menkalinan is also a polarizer that will show us the opposite side of an issue by attracting people or experiences that elucidate through graphic illustration our hesitancies or indecision to take action, which can help us cut through confusion to make things plain and clear—what are friends for. Menkalinan is associate to Capella, Auriga's lucida, the Starseed Messenger of Light.
Our Last Quarter Moon impels the need to apply the growth we have gained throughout this lunar cycle into and externalized expression in our lives and to respond to the needs of humankind. It impels high intensity intellectual communication and the exchange of information, goods and services. It impels mutual cooperation, linking and uniting efforts in our daily affairs for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment for each other and for humankind.
The Sun conjoins Makemake on September 24 (early Sept 25 UT) under the auspices of our Super Galactic Center in the Virgo Cluster of Galaxies. This, like the Jupiter-Makemake conjunction of September 19, is also a good time to gain more insight into the astrological nature of Makemake. It, like a Full Moon in a lunar cycle, marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the current annual Earth-Makemake synodic cycle that began on the March 23, 2016 Lunar Eclipse, also conjoining the SGC, and at the time of the second Jupiter-Saturn square.
Uranus and Eris, both retrograde, make the second of their three geocentric conjunctions on September 25 (opposite Haumea). The third occurs in March of 2017. (See the 2016-2017 Graphic Ephemerides.) The Eris-Haumea opposition continues through September of 2017. The Uranus-Eris conjunction is presented in the article: "New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017 Disclosure & Discovery Possibilities."
Insights into how the Uranus-Eris synthesis may be playing out in the world are welcome. Please post any comments on the Disqus Community Board at the bottom of the Uranus-Eris article. It is nearly impossible for me to research and report on everything going on in the world related to this. So please help out if inclined.
The Sun conjoins Jupiter on September 26, marking the midpoint of vision and realization in the current 399-day Earth-Jupiter synodic cycle that began on March 8, 2016 (interestingly conjoining Mizar of the Great Bear, the location of Mercury's direct station). The Earth-Jupiter synod occurred just hours before the March Total Solar Eclipse, presented in the March 9, 2016 Lunar Planner.
This new Earth-Jupiter synodic theme and the 399-day cycle impels dynamic, expansive, mobilizing and wide-sweeping creative expression, but can also exaggerate diversionary tactics through grand spectacle. Jupiter's retrograde impels an inward expansion of conscious awareness to discern the truth and what is of true value hidden behind the dramatic and deceptive antics occurring in the world. The inward expansion and wisdom gained during Jupiter's retrograde, and this new synodic theme, will externalize when Jupiter completes its retrograde on May 9, and especially when Jupiter crosses the North Lunar Node in late June.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, The 24 hours leading into the Sun-Jupiter conjunction (Sep 25) is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter audio meditation. Pluto completes its retrograde on September 26. This fully engages the new annual Earth-Pluto cycle, presented in the July 4, 2016 Lunar Planner.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in the lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on September 26 (Sept 27 UT) in late sidereal Cancer but under the auspices of the Head of the Lion. The Moon conjoins Merak and Tania of Ursa Major, and Lambda and Algenubi of Leo.
Dubhe (Alpha) and Merak (Beta) of Ursa Major, expressing through later Cancer, manifest the integrous side of the Great Bear, and are the pointers to Earth's current North Star, Polaris of the Little Bear, Ursa Minor, bringing attention to caring for the young and for future generations to come. Although in the sign of Cancer, this longitudinal band toward the end of sidereal Cancer is moving out of the area of the Scarab (or Crab) itself. Here we arrive to the deserted (desert) place (of peace) between the Scarab and the Lion. These stars impel us to seek a greater vision or to break trail into new territory.
Merak impels us to get on with the pursuit Dubhe inspires. Dubhe is more of inspiration and vision whereas Merak impels assertive demonstrable action to manifest that greater vision for our selves and for all life on Earth, to get on with it.
Also conjoining Merak is the hind-foot of the Great Bear composed of Tania Bor. and Tania Aus., which brings a strong sense of the power of conviction—that which propels us beyond our current, accepted stance in life, beyond what has been achieved before. This is a power point in the zodiak; a place to leave the comforts of our existing reality behind and to confidently surge into new and unexplored territory.
Algenubi, Eye of the Lion, brings inspiration to see beyond what we currently experience into new, remote or other realms, to break trail into new vistas of experience. Nearby Rasalas, the crown, inspires extraordinary accomplishment in this pursuit. These are stars of visionaries, explorers, pioneers, and adventurers with little interest or contentment to merely fit in with those performing on the worldly stage. These people seek to go beyond the norm in accomplishment. They are undaunted in the face of perilous explorations and are proud to demonstrate it. These are trailblazers, those willing to leave the comfort of mass-consensus, who are self-reliant to step forth into unexplored territory, the ones who seek a better way to live and are able to envision new horizons, those who seek to discover new possibilities waiting to be realized.
Our Balsamic Moon coalesces into essence the experience of this lunar cycle, which becomes the seed to express anew into the following lunar cycle. Adventurism, exploration, breaking new trail, to go where we have not gone before, to get on with it—to engage, are all themes here. These are actions that require the courage of self-conviction, belief in self, in our paths in life and in the future, and to have the inner confidence to step away from the convention of mass consensus, our dogmas, and those of the masses, beyond the boundaries of the past. This is a nice closing to what has been a dynamic lunar cycle.
To further the closing of this Lunar cycle, the Moon appropriately conjoins Makemake and Jupiter on September 30. The following New Moon occurs on October 1 in the midst of the stars of Virgo. More to come then.
