Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.

The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.

The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).

About Synodic Cycles

Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.

There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

Surrender & Play

The end of this phase is also the end of the entire Lunar Cycle. It leads into the next New Moon. The day before the New Moon is a time to surrender in order to allow the next Lunar Theme to sprout in its purity. Let go of all fears, worries, and self-judgment. Become empty. This is a great time to just play and have fun.

Expressing a New Theme

A new theme emerges. A new idea, a new concept sprouts forth. This is an inner message, an impulse expressing from a field of all possibilities deep within the unconscious mind. Often this process is one of discovery, slowly revealing a simple theme over a day or two, or it may be quite clear and specific, a spontaneous message, even suggesting a major life change. The New Moon is a perfect time for meditation or a quite walk—to go within self and listen. A simple word or phrase may pop into your mind during this quite time describing the new lunar theme in a way that is unique to you, or perhaps a simple feeling or knowing will come over you. The ability to listen, honor and trust the inner is all that is required at this time. The ideal time to attune to your New Moon theme is exactly as the New Moon occurs, or at sunrise after the New Moon if the New Moon occurred during the night.
First Sliver
Another time to realize the opportunity for growth this lunar cycle offers is when you can see the first sliver of the Moon at sunset in the western sky. Empty your mind while looking at the Moon and allow whatever thought or impulse to surface.

The New Moon

This February 26, 2017 New Moon produces an Annular Eclipse amongst a stellium of planets nesting in the stars of Aquarius, the humanitarian waterbearer. This Solar Eclipse is exceptionally significant and it and this lunar cycle kick off with a plethora of significant planetary alignments making the eclipse and this lunar cycle catalytic and rather potent.

This eclipse is nearly a Total Eclipse, with the Moon covering 98.5% of the Sun's disk, occurring at the Moon's South Node. It will be visible in the southern hemisphere. The annular eclipse will be visible in Chile, Argentina, across the south Atlantic and in Angola, Zambia and the D.R. Congo of Africa. A partial eclipse will be visible in South America, the Atlantic, Africa and Antarctica. The New Moon occurs at 14:58:18 UT (7:58:18 AM MST). The greatest duration of the eclipse occurs at 14:53:24.5 UT.

NASA Video cast of about the Eclipse

Generally, eclipse lunar cycles mark a time of shifting into a new octave of experience. They offer a time to resynchronize our selves with the ever-changing cosmic currents supporting our evolutionary progression in consciousness. Eclipses tend to bring about endings and new beginnings. How dramatic these changes can be and in what areas of our lives is a function of star alignments and other aspecting planets occurring at the time of the eclipse, and where they occur in our natal (and especially a relocated) chart. They can have a far greater effect in our lives when they conjoin other natal planets and personal points by ±6°. Eclipses bring emphasis to issues related to the chart area and planets involved. Eclipse influences generally last about six months, until the next eclipse occurs. Eclipse lunar cycles are ideal times to set new six-month goals to create personal change in our lives, not necessarily on the solar or lunar eclipse, but based upon the realizations we have throughout the eclipse lunar cycle.

Solar eclipses offer opportunity to redefine concepts of self and the roles we play in the world, or how we articulate ourselves in life. They are about shifting octaves in the nature of our self-perception and self-expression, and addressing issues that keep us from doing so. They can invite a new beginning, way of life, or new way of participating in life.

New Moon Star Chart

Our New Moon eclipse in Aquarius conjoins the stars forming the Urn of Aquarius, primarily Sadachbia (Gamma), Seat (Pi) and Zeta Aquarius, and Skat (Delta), which lies on the shin bone of the waterbearer. A bit north is Baham of Pegasus. In the southern heavens are Beta and Gamma Sculptor.

The stars of the Urn articulate natural resources and the flow of those resources to humanity. Sadachbia is "the lucky star of hidden things and hiding places." Sadachbia is of serendipitous discovery, that is, being in the right place at the right time to discover, receive or bestow a physical gift of extreme value. It is a star of success in enterprises pursued. Zeta, in the midst of the Urn, is actually composed of two stars (Zeta 1 and Zeta 2) called the White Jewels by sky watchers. All of these stars produce both an expressive and receptive quality and are especially beneficent. They all impel an altruistic and humanitarian expression.

Hydor, Lambda Aquarius, lies in and guides the stream of the flowing waters of the humanitarian waterbearer. Hydor simply means water. Like the stars of the urn from which the waters flow, Hydor is a fortuitous star. This zodiacal location is also related to Varuna, goddess of the water's of life, who invites us to allow nature's way to weave its course.

Skat is the "star of the foundation," marking the shinbone of the waterbearer. Skat is of philanthropic foundations, organizations, and business vessels through which material and financial support can flow for humanitarian focused projects and for the nourishment of an evolved human society flourishing in the arts and sciences. Skat inspires action in support of a healthy and prosperous future, and brings hope for wishes fulfilled.

The stars conjoining and forming the Urn of Aquarius produce one of the purest areas of resonance in the ecliptic and one of the most fortuitous—the Angel Point of the Zodiak.

Also conjoining are Beta and Gamma of Sculptor, lying in the southern heavens. Sculptor influences the entire second half of sidereal Aquarius and early Pisces. Sculptor, referring to a sculptor's studio, articulates the environments and resources that make possible the arts and sciences, those that support humanity, as well as sculpting a beautiful and bountiful human society, both physically and spiritually. Sculpting the arts and sciences is a principal facet of the Aquarian energetic.

This New Moon, this lunar cycle, and the six months ahead brings emphasis to humanity's fundamental needs, to resources that fulfill those needs, and to the unimpeded flow of those resources to all of humanity. It raises issues regarding the restrictive control and exploitation of resources that lead to an unhealthy and frail human populous, and our need to address those issues. It also brings emphasis to altruistic and philanthropic gestures, those that support others who are contributing to society, especially in the arts and sciences, but who may not have or produce supportive resources through their efforts alone.

This South Node Aquarius Lunar Eclipse impels us to relinquish illusory ideals and antiquated patterns of behavior, as a populous and as groups in that populous, about how to better the world, to think outside the box and to allow alternative paths to be realized. As a south node eclipse, it impels movement toward the North Node energetic in Leo, that is to express the South Node energetic through the North Node. This impels the general populous, the people, to assertively step up to the plate and bring inovative ideas onto the world stage to be seen. It also impels the people to express through those in leadership roles and those who are in the limelight that kingly Leo exemplifies.

This eclipse brings emphasis to healing and nurturing the human condition in new, but practical and grounded ways, and it impels us to reset our focus upon these issues. In this few degree area of Aquarius, the flowing waters from the Urn want to fill a void, and they teach us how to heal ourselves. Consider these things when looking at where this eclipse falls in your natal or relocated chart to gain insight into what area of your life it effects, and what to personally work upon over the next six months.

This February solar eclipse is precursor to the next solar eclipse to occur in the northern hemisphere on August 21, 2017. It will occur on the North Node in Leo, conjoining Regulus and Adhafera of Leo. It will be a total eclipse, and will be visible crossing the United States from Oregon to South Carolina. You must be on the eclipse path to see totality. The Eclipse & Neptune

Neptune Image Credit: Voyager II NASA/JPL

Neptune significantly influences this New Moon eclipse, lying just over three degrees further in the ecliptic. Neptune conjoins Hydor of Aquarius, within a degree, both in ecliptical longitude and latitude, and also Eta of Aquarius. Hydor disperses and expands the flow of the nourishing humanitarian waters flowing from the Urn.

Neptune is approaching its exalted location in sidereal Aquarius, which lies just a couple degrees further in the ecliptic. Thus, Neptune's influence is exceptionally heightened. Neptune’s surface is not solid like Earth’s. It is composed of a heavy layer of swirling clouds mainly composed of methane. Neptune’s bright blue surface appearance continually changes due to underlying winds that blow up to about 1500 miles per hour. This dense atmosphere morphs into liquid moving inward toward its icy silicate core. Neptune is made up mainly of hydrogen, helium, water and silicates. Neptune’s geophysical nature is one of the reasons for Neptune’s amorphous astrological nature, which is of dreams, visions, and ideals. Neptune dissolves that which is fixed and segregated into universality—the quality of humanitarian Aquarius. Neptune elevates and spiritualizes that which it aligns with toward more universal ideals for those willing to look through the clouds in their minds.

Neptune's influence brings emphasis to our ideologies, and to evolve or spiritualize our ideologies to become inclusive, rather than exclusive, of all life on Earth. It also brings emphasis to illusions, to our perception of things, and our need to look beyond the surface appearance of things to see what is real and what is not, to look beyond propaganda, beyond the glitter and glamour, and to use discernment rather than merely buying into mass consensus or what seems to be in vogue. It can also accentuate pretence or a desire to escape, and cover-ups, as in pretending what you can't see does not exist.

The Eclipse & Mercury

Mercury Image Credit: NASA / JHU Applied Physics Lab / Carnegie Inst. Washington

Mercury is also a significant contributor to the nature of this eclipse. Just as the lunar cycle commences, on Feb 27, Mercury, in early Aquarius, conjoins the third largest Dwarf Planet 2007 OR10 and the Centaur Nessus on the South Lunar Node, and just as Mars conjoins Uranus and Eris. OR10 is the largest unnamed world in our solar system. 2007 OR10's astrological nature is yet to be ascertained. Perhaps this is an opportunity to apprehend more about it, however there are so many prominent aspects occurring with other planets it may be a challenge to sort out its specific influence. Astronomer Mike Brown sugests the name R'hllor, the "God of Flame and Shadow" from the Game of Thrones. More about 2007 OR10.

Mercury then crosses the eclipse location on the Crescent Moon. It will then conjoin Neptune the day before First Quarter Moon and then the Sun the day after First Quarter Moon. Mercury will then join the Pallas-Chiron conjunction just after the Gibbous Moon, and then continues its journey out of sidereal Aquarius and on its way to conjoin retrograde Venus and Algenib of Pegasus on March 18, Just after the Disseminating Moon (the latter presented below). Mercury's stimulating influence during its passage through Aquarius incites the voice of humanity.

The Eclipse & Orcus

The New Moon eclipse also lies opposite Orcus in Leo. Orcus lies south of the ecliptic making passage through Sextans. The Sun-(Moon)-Earth-Orcus alignment marks the start of a new annual Earth-Orcus synodic cycle, adding another significant facet to our lunar cycle and the six months ahead.

Orcus was discovered on Feb 19, 2004. Although Orcus is a bit smaller than Pluto, Orcus has a nearly identical orbital size, orbital period (year), and orbital inclination. However, Orcus’ orbital plane’s orientation in our solar system is tilted in the opposite direction from Pluto’s. For this reason, I tend to think of Orcus as Pluto’s compliment. Just as Pluto has Charon as its primary moon, so too does Orcus have a moon, Vanth, discovered on Nov 13, 2005. Just as Pluto and Charon are considered a dual planetary system, so too is Orcus and Vanth.

Based on Orcus’ orbital parameters, Orcus seems to address how we are applying our personal will for the greater well being of all humanity; how we are contributing to human society. Orcus motivates the use of our day-to-day lives, our daily activity for our souls’ greater purpose on Earth. Orcus seems to express a quiet profundity, almost unnoticed as it serves us to get in touch with our deeper soul essence and purpose—the oaths of our souls, our soul-level agreements, what we are really doing here on Earth—yet at the same time imparting a tremendous strength and endurance to live true to that oath. More about Orcus.

Orcus brings perspective to our New Moon Eclipse. It brings emphasis to our transcendent purpose in life, and to reassess our bearings and adjust our tack to navigate our course in life based upon that purpose, our soul agreements, amongst rapidly changing evolutionary currents. It is by doing that which we have truly come to Earth for that will effectively steer our evolutionary course.

The Solar Eclipse Grand Trine Kite

The Eclipse & Juno, Ceres and Orcus

Our New Moon eclipse also becomes the capstone to a Grand Trine formed by Juno, Ceres and Orcus, with the New Moon. This geometry is harmonious and opportunistic. It is exceptionally stable, a derivative of a hexagon or two interlocking grand trines. It often manifests opportunistic events that just seem destined. The New Moon apex defines the nature of the Grand Trine, the overseeing energetic—letting go of preconceive ideas and approaches and to think alternatively. Orcus becomes foundational in this geometry. The grand trine emphasizes relationships and partnerships of all types, agreements, mutual compatibility, ecological and environmental issues, the earth and womb, our fundamental nourishment, how we nurture and are nurtured, and especially living authentically, true to who we are and our unique purpose on Earth (Orcus).

Mars, Uranus & Eris

Mt Etna Eruption

&After a few months of showing a little activity Etna erupted again. At around 18:00 (February 27) the volcanic tremor sharply increased, signaling the start of large strombolian activity from a new vent that has opened between the old and new cone....& (Emanuela / VolcanoDiscovery Italia.

Mars conjoins Uranus and Eris opposite Jupiter and Haumea (now retrograde) just hours after the eclipse (Feb 27), triggering this long-standing and unprecedented planetary alignment. This provides an intense catalyst to actualize progressive radical change, stimulating action that overturns the apple cart, that exposes and discloses, that breaks us away from inherited evolutionary currents of the past. It impels us to aspire for more, to become more, as a society and as individuals. The Mars-Uranus-Eris conjunction opposite Jupiter-Haumea incites assertive radical action to expose anything that opposes the birth, movement and expansion of a new consciousness on Earth based in higher ethics. Expect the unexpected, even the arousal of eruptive catalytic forces.

Seismic Warning
Due to the many catalytic alignments occurring, along with the approaching second Jupiter-Pluto square, there is a potential for increased seismic activity throughout this lunar cycle.

Saturn-Ixion, Sedna & Chiron

Saturn and Ixion continue their conjunction, but are now moving from their alignment with the tail of the Scorpion into early sidereal Sagittarius, but still bringing emphasis to long-established karmic-based tyrannical authoritarian scenarios, generally involving people in strong leadership positions. (George Bush Sr. and Saddam Hussein had such a relation). At a soul level, the players in such scenarios are fulfilling underlying evolutionary energy currents that must be brought to resolution for humanity, despite what it may look like on the global stage of incarnate life.

The double Yod: Mars-Uranus-Eris opposite Jupiter-Haumea with Saturn-Ixion, Sedna and Chiron

Saturn and Ixion directly aspect and are currently a part of the (Mars)-Uranus-Eris / Jupiter-Haumea opposition and the dramatic events occurring in the world that it has been and will continue to catalyze. Sedna is also a significant and long-standing player in this scenario, also directly aspecting the Uranus-Eris / Jupiter-Haumea opposition, and the Saturn-Ixion conjunction. The Centaur Chiron joins in as well, working in strength with Sedna—all creating a double Finger of God / Yod.

The apices of the Yods are the focal elements of this geometry. The other points in this geometry are catalytic elements that ensure the Yod apicies are addressed. The base points of a Yod must work together to address the apex.

Sedna, a distant transcultural planet, is a very slow mover, with an orbital period of ~12,000 years, about one half of, and resonant to, Earth's Precessional Great Year. Sedna is at a very key transition point in her journey (over these few years), making passage out from the stars of Aries and into those of Taurus, under the initiations of Algol of Perseus (presented in more detail below). Overall, there are three very principle feminine forces active here, Eris, Haumea and Sedna.

Eris, our warrior princess, uncovers, exposes and discloses our denials or what we are simply blind to see. She intercedes to open our eyes to a greater reality once hidden, forcing us to redefine our worldview, and to embark upon new paths accordingly. Uranus of course (teaming up with Eris), is the Great Awakener, impeller of radical and progressive change. Uranus breaks us from the conforming bounds of an antiquated past.

Haumea, yet another feminine force, impels a rebirth in consciousness, to take on a new form, to reinvent our selves. Although perhaps a gentler force than Eris, she nonetheless expresses from a dynamic and exceptionally high-velocity state in perfect equilibrium, powerful and confident in knowing what is required to facilitate a new birth. Haumea is now ramped up in power and higher ideals by the expansive mobilizing force of majestic Jupiter.

Sedna articulates the re-emergence of the exiled, latent and long-suppressed feminine principle in the world' and the subsequent participation of females equally with males in all walks of life' prominently, openly and without fear, abuse, prejudice or exploitation. The resolution of issues, ingrained in the genetic patterning transcending the formation of modern-day culture are also a part of Sedna's re-emergence from the cold distant past. These issues may include: a refusal or hesitancy to participate in fear of being hurt, or from resentment of being hurt, or abduction or abandonment issues, whether due to self-exile or forced exile.

The Dwarf Planet Ceres, mother of the asteroids, and the asteroid Vesta, two more feminine forces, are also active in the Uranus-Eris / Jupiter-Haumea aspects. Vesta was presented in the previous January 28, 2017 Lunar Planner and Ceres in the article "Disclosure & Discovery, New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017."

The Saturn-Ixion synthesis brings tyrannical figureheads of long-establish, generally patriarchal and exploitative, authoritarian bureaucracies to the forefront. This synthesis and its role in this overall planetary geometry became active at the start of this year (January 2017) and will continue throughout the year. Saturn and Ixion made the first of their three geocentric conjunctions at the time of the lunar eclipse occurring in the previous lunar cycle. This is a significant dynamic in this entire planetary geometry, one that brings forth an intense karmic responsibility of those in positions of power in the world, and regarding the exploitation of females and the subsequent suppression of the feminine principle. More about Ixion. Despite what it may look like upon the global stage, those exemplifying the Saturn-Ixion theme, at this time, are serving as a catalytic force to spur the re-emergence of the feminine force in the world, specifically regarding Sedna's transition across the Taurian cusp, and issues she must face confronting Algol (presented more below).

Saturn's passage through sidereal Scorpio over the last few years expressed as long-standing bureaucracies (mainly patriarchal-based) attempting to manipulate through intimidation to instill fear, with this climaxing with Saturn's conjunction with Ixion over the Sting of the Scorpion (December 2016-January 2017). This will no longer be as effective as Saturn moves into the star-field of Sagittarius (although still conjoining Ixion for a time). Sagittarius will not tolerate this type of behavior. Sag impels Saturn and associated bureaucratic structures to live up to the higher ideals the Zen Archer lives for. Sagittarius impels the pursuit for unified awareness. Sagittarius imparts a desire for freedom and expansion (the domain of Jupiter), whereas Saturn wants to limit and control. Saturn may attempt to tame Sag to little avail, like attempting to tame what is born to be free, but Saturn can also aid to concretize into form the higher ideals and unified awareness Sag inspires, as Saturn also impels the need to be responsible and confront our fears, and here addressing the fear to set things free. Saturn's passage through the stars of Sag leads into the climatic completion of the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto cycles in 2020, which occurs in late Sagittarius. You can see Saturn's passage, and its retrogrades, through Scorpio and Sagittarius in the second video on the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto 2020 web page.

The New Juno-Saturn Synodic Cycle

The heliocentric conjunction of Juno and Saturn occurs on February 28, initiating the new Juno-Saturn 5.25-year synodic cycle, which continues through May of 2022. Juno and Saturn made their geocentric conjunction back on January 10, 2017 conjoining the head of Ophiuchus, and the stars forming the right leg of Ophiuchus, which stands over the sting of the Scorpion, presented in the December 29, 2016 Lunar Planner.

Juno and Saturn emphasize long-standing and enduring relations. Saturn consolidates, constricts and concretizes into solidified form. This influence with Juno is ideal for the formalization of covenants in partnerships. However, occurring in this area of Scorpio, it can also arouse irrational fears about commitments or the restrictions they might imply. It can also bring to surface long-standing issues in relationships that need to be addressed, and this provides opportunity to transmute relationships into a greater strength, coherency and stability. The stellar energetic here is highly emotional and cold stoic Saturn can either impel us to suppress emotions or face them with mutual acceptance of responsibility and spiritual discipline. Harsh conflictual repercussions can result if either party in a relationship is unwilling to take responsibility for and to embrace and work through, resolve and heal whatever surfaces for several days surrounding this event, especially between the Gibbous and Full Moons.

The synod occurring now conjoins the exact same stars. This sets a strong energetic in motion over the next few years for relationships and partnerships of all types, those personal, to those of business, to our international relations. Juno is not merely about relationships, the types of relationships we draw or desire, and the nature of how we interrelate, but is also about covenants, the contractual agreements we make in our relationships. This implies agreements set in motion now, especially those between countries and established bureaucracies, can have serious repercussion over the years ahead. It demands a significant maturing of our relationships. It requires we use the harsh lessons of the past as an elixer to bring our relationships into a higher octave of expression (the nature of Ophiuchus), or to incur more harsh lessons (the sting of the Scorpion).

The Moon, Mars, Uranus and Eris

The Moon triggers the Mars-Uranus-Eris conjunction on March 1 leading into the Crescent Moon, creating another potent day. It is also an ideal time to meditate with Mars and Uranus Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations.

Ending the Sprouting Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Releasing Restricting Patterns

Just prior to the first Crescent Moon, we can realize the opportunity for growth that the Lunar Cycle has to offer. What surfaces now is: How I would have done this in the past, the old or established ways, based on past experience. Here we have the opportunity to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns, much like sluffing off the protective sheath of a seed now beginning to sprout, as that sheath would only limit the unfoldment of the new theme and our own growth. The Crescent Moon marks the time when the theme would like to grow into a more expansive form. By consciously honoring, accepting in love, and letting go of our old concepts, we allow ourselves to move forth into the expansive growing phase of the Lunar Cycle.

Beginning the Growing Phase of the Lunar Cycle
Expanding upon the Theme

This is a time when the currently held vision begins to expand into a greater form. New possibilities of unfoldment would like to grow—possibilities not realized before. This 3 1/2 day Growing Phase is a time of engaging our creativity and integrating it with the original theme, identifying its unique and full potential. It is a time of allowing a realistic and achievable plan of action to evolve, a time of inspiration, and a time to have faith in ours creative process.

The Crescent Moon
Expanding on the Theme

Crescent Moon

The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativite vision with the original lunar theme. The Crescent Moon brings insight to see how the New Moon theme will express and the opportunity for growth it provides.

The Crescent Moon occurs on March 2 UT (Mar 1 MST), slightly past Mars and lying just into sidereal Aries. The stars marking the cusp of sidereal Aries include Al Pherg of Pisces and those forming the upright fish of Pisces. Also conjoining is the Super Nova Remnant Cassiopeia-A.

The eastern fish of Pisecs leaps upward, vertically from the ecliptic plane, seeking a greater freedom at the shores of sidereal Aries. The eastern fish articulates our desire to ascend from our inherited past and its ideologies, and our effort to awaken from submersion in the tumultuous psychic emotional human world articulated by southern Cetus.

Al Pherg, Eta Pisces, in the upright fish that marks cuspal Aries, is tied to Alrisha (Katain), the knot that binds our primordial past to our future. Al Pherg and the stars forming the upright fish impel the desire and motivate the effort required to emerge from our cultural and genetic past, and its psychic and emotional entrappings, to become more than we have been.

Al Pherg reveals that issues that hold us back are of the emotional and physical realm and they need to be dealt with at the emotional / physical level of clearing, not from a mentalized “I’m above it all” attitude of denial. Al Pherg can also indicate that something residual must be released or accepted, which can be from a long-established genetic, cultural or evolutionary history.

Although Eta Pisces is most often referred to as Al Pherg, the Babylonian Kullat Nunu precedes Al Pherg, but Kullat Nunu refers more to the chord tying the fish than the star itself, articulating the inseparable evolutionary timestream uniting our past with our future to become. Eta is estimated to be about 26 times larger than our Sun, with a very mysterious and dim companion star.

The Andromeda Spiral Galaxy M31

The beautiful and nearly perfect shaped Andromeda Spiral Galaxy M31 is our largest nearby neighbor, a mer 2.5 million light yeas away. The disc spans about 260,00 light-years, compared to our own Milky Way Galaxy which spans about 100,000 light years across.
Image Credit: Bill Schoening, Vanessa Harvey/REU program/NOAO/AURA/NSF - Kitt Peak National Observatory, southern Arizona

The Super Nova Remnant Cassiopeia-A is the strongest radio source in the sky. The original Cass-A explosion is estimated to have occurred in either 1667 or 1680, making it a relatively young supernova. Cas-A embodies the over-theme of Cassiopeia, the soul of the queen. Cas-A creates the need to see opportunity for attainment (articulated by the beautiful and conjoining Andromeda Galaxy M31) rather than opposition impeding it, and to have the courage to do the inner work required to claim it. In typical Cassiopeian style however, this can express as an explosive temper tantrum of outrage or anger when feeling deprived or a victim of our position or environment in which we may find ourselves; or victim to other forces attempting to manipulate and control our freedom or birthright. However, this is ultimately due to not having dealt with our own emotional issues to start with. Cas-A offers a powerful opportunity for transformation if we are willing to surrender any bitter attitudes that we deserve something or some position, and to shift our focus from why we are being denied or deprived to appreciating that which we do have and the beauty that is. This acceptance is that which allows bestowal of the beneficence due our greater essence of being. Cas-A is the strongest radio source in the sky. The multi-spectral forces of Cas-A create a sub-conscious drive to seek attainment beyond the limits we currently experience, to become more of our potential.

Our Crescent Moon brings inspiration to actualize a far greater potential and to attain greater personal achievement, but to do so we must first release or bring resolution to any limiting mental-emotional patterns of the past. Success is accomplished both by maturing internally and aspiring externally. Our Crescent Moon may also inspire deep emotional clearing and physical cleansing.

Venus Retrograde

You can pause the video and drag the progress bar to view any section of the video.

Venus begins her retrograde on March 4. This Venus retrograde occurs in Pisces, under the Great Square of Pegasus and over the thrashing tail of Cetus, the technobureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The retrograde also conjoins Pallas and is triggered by Mercury (shown in the video). The Sun, Venus and Earth align in the midst of the Venus retrograde on March 25, just after the Balsamic Moon, initiating a new 1.6-year (583.92 days) Earth-Venus cycle. Venus completes her retrograde on April 15, 2017. Venus remains retrograde for a 6-week period.

Venus retrograde is an ideal time for introspection, to reassess our values and desires, that which is important to the heart, also a time to reassess personal finances. Look at where the Venus retrograde occurs in your personal chart and the planets it transits to gain insight into how and in what area of your life it effects. The Venus retrograde will transit natal Eris for many people, those born up to about 1967. Learn more about Venus cycles.

This area of Pisces is about psychic, emotional and genetic energetic currents we carry from the the past, those inherited or assumed. Thus, this retrograde period provides opportunity to reassess those that are of value and those that keep us bound, entrapped and in turbulence, those we need to relinquish.

Lying over the first half of sidereal Pisces is the Great Square of Pegasus, created by Markab, Scheat, Algenib and Alpheratz (occurring in that order in ecliptical longitude). The principles and qualities embodied by each of these four stars reveal the mysteries (wisdom) of refining self, the psycho-physiological vessel through which soul expresses, to become free from the bounds limiting us from participating in a more fulfilling and purposeful expression in the world. This refinement of self allows us to become able to participate in the world without becoming entrapped by the fear-instilling, dramatic, emotional and psychic forces common to the human collective. Theses stars impel us to rise from our primordial past into our destined evolutionary fulfillment, to become more through our human experience.

The Venus retrograde starts with Venus conjoining Alpheratz, the head of the entrapped Princess Andromeda. Although the stage setting in which Andromeda is trapped (chained to rocks about to be devoured by Cetus) seems complex, there is a prerequisite for her freedom—an inner metamorphosis, an emotional maturing into the readiness to receive aid and become free. Often time, we are ready to change only when in the chains of the human struggle. And our inner readiness precedes receiving support to change. Forceful attempts to break free before we are ready only tighten the chain of bondage. Here lies our need to break free from the human mold, from the genetic, cultural, and personal pattering forming our lives. The stars of Andromeda articulate the struggle for freedom from the collective and tormenting forces of the psycho-emotional human world, to claim our true galactic birthright and evolutionary destiny. Alpheratz's fortuitous position ultimately brings success and reward in this worthy pursuit.

Alignments with Alpheratz can also express as being caught in the power plays created by the arrogance or denials of others. They can also indicate our vulnerability to the emotional and psychic delusions of others, especially those in our genealogical line or karmic past—often manifesting as elaborate emotional dramatics. Alpheratz asks us to get un-entangled from the human psycho-emotional drama, or accept a sentence of bondage not rightfully ours.

The start of the retrograde impels us to look at how we think, the mentalities we have about the desires and values we hold, also those about money and our personal finances. As the retrograde engages, we are motivated to delve deeper beneath our thoughts and into the emotional aspects of self, how we truly feel, and to explore deeper emotional patterns we carry that manifest our life experience. These can also be unconscious cellular patterns carried from the past or inherited at a genetic level. This period offers a time to clear and refine our hearts' values and our capacity to be receptive to that which we truly desire and deserve.

As Venus retrogrades, she will conjoin Algenib of Pegasus, impelling us to lighten up the mental, emotional and physical cellular patterning that keeps us from flying. She then conjoins the thrashing tail of ole' Cetus, which articulates how we can get knocked down and thrashed around when we are not clear within self by the turbulence created not only by the techno-bureacrocies of the world, but also by fear-based collective human consciousness, which is a psychic webwork we can easily plug our neural-net into. Venus then conjoins Scheat of Pegasus, impelling us to delve into the primordial past and the patterns we have assumed, and to clear and refine how we are using our life force, our Chi.

Chiron graciously joins to aid Venus, and this deeper cathartic process. Venus first conjoined Chiron before her retrograde, back on January 24 and under the Circlet of Pisces, which marks the head of the western primodial fish. More signifcantly, Venus and Chiron conjoin just as Venus makes her direct station on April 15. Chiron impels us to gain greater wholeness, and in this case regarding matters of the heart, to establish greater heart coherency.

Classically, Chiron is the Wounded Healer, which means our wounds are that which heal us. Chiron impels us to get in touch with, face and heal our wounds, a process of unconditionally embracing our wounds with an open heart, willing to feel any emotion attached to those wounds rather then defending why we are wounded with judgmental mind. All wounds are cellular memory patterns that block us from becoming healthy and whole, and from expressing our full potential. Defending "why" we are hurt, unhealthy or wounded results in nothing more than further suppressing those unhealthy cellular patterns, creating more chronic conditions, often leading us to seek quick band-aid fixes or temporary feel-good patterns of behavior that merely mask and suppress the symptoms. This process of being unconditionally willing to dive below the surface of symptomology and feel, whatever the emotions may be, allows those very wounds to become the means, the elixir, that allows our inner transmutation into a refined vibrational resonance.

Venus will return to its conjunction with Alpheratz on May 20, 2017. The time from when Venus completes her retrograde (on April 15) through the time when she returns to the location where she started her retrograde, conjoining Apheratz, is when we demonstrably embody and learn to live the changes we have made throughout the retrograde.

Observing how we think, feel and choose to live at the time of the return conjunction with Alpheratz occurring on May 20 compared to the start of the retrograde on March 4, can reveal the nature of the changes we have made throughout the retrograde. Specifically, this is about how much we have freed ourselves from our patterns driving our desires and values that have kept us entrapped in life scenarios less than what we truly want.

More about Venus and the new Venus 1.6-year cycle is presented later in this article, when the Venus synod (Sun-Venus conjunction) occurs, just after the Balsamic Moon. (Jump there now.)

External Stimulus

Just before first-quarter moon, we draw an external stimulus to ourselves. This is some event outside of self occurring in our lives or in the world that impels a challenge to act on the creative ideas we have been evolving. The external stimulus provides the impetus to move forth from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. This is a time when any fears or doubts hidden within may surface to be embraced. To move forward through the I can'ts and the reasons why not is to move through our own limitations into a new level of self-empowerment. Not stepping into action results in opportunity lost and no growth. Many people drop the ball at this point in the lunar cycle. Don't be one.

Now is the time to drop all hesitation and take the steps to move forth on what you were inspired about. The inspiration is now gone, it is time to now participate in trust and knowing. Remember, the flower that is about to burst forth from the bud is not yet visible. Trust in the process. Demonstrate this trust in physical action and you will be supported. The creative tension brought forth by the external stimulus now shifts into opportunity and unfoldment. This is a time for practical application of your talents. This time is stressful or traumatic only if action is ignored. What you are putting together now is the groundwork for the manifestation of the theme. Simply, this phase is a time to work.

First Quarter Moon
Initiate Action

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on March 5 in sidereal Taurus and over the Shield of Orion. Conjoining stars include Omicron and others of the Shield, Kursa of Eridanus, and Gamma of the northern Camel. Enterprising Rigel of Orion has some influence, a couple of degrees away.

First Quarter Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

Kursa marks the beginning of Eridanus, the River of Life. Kursa is of new beginnings, new journeys, new involvements, and new legs of our lives. Although it may be time to go forth anew, into a new phases of our lives, we must be aware of the tenacious perseverance required when staring new life journeys, to move from the wars and trials of the past to the freedom of the future. Kursa is also favorable for journeys involving enterprises across water or in other parts of the world. Kursa lies north-west of and conjoins Rigel of Orion. Rigel, Beta Orion, is a supergiant star about 30 times the size of our Sun and with a mass about 17 times the mass of our Sun. It shines about 40,000 times our Sun’s luminosity and is the seventh brightest star in the heavens. Rigel (and this area of sidereal Taurus) is of enterprising entrepreneurialism. It imparts strength, success and honors. Orions in general are known for their architectural capacity. Prominent alignments with Rigel (and Bellatrix) bring the capacity to embody, direct and execute large, extravagant and grandiose projects, bringing good through commerce and business affairs.

The Shield of Orion enters the ecliptic just past Aldebaran and over Kursa of Eridanus. Tabit of Orion and several other minor stars form the Shield of Orion. Both Aldebaran and the Shield bring attention to the physical infrastructures supporting our lives. The theme of the Shield is one of providing physical protection, especially by ensuring a protective environment when starting new ventures or enterprises when they are in their formative or planning stages, yet to become self-sustaining. Associated with the essence of Aldebaran, this also extends to physical shelter and daily sustenance, of ensuring the care for self and for others. The stars of the Shield impel endurance and victory in this pursuit.

The Witch Head Nebula in Orion.

As the name implies, this reflection nebula associated with the star Rigel looks suspiciously like a fairytale crone. Formally known as IC 2118 in the constellation Orion, the Witch Head Nebula glows primarily by light reflected from the star. The color of this very blue nebula is caused not only by blue color of its star, but also because the dust grains reflect blue light more efficiently than red. A similar physical process causes Earth's daytime sky to appear blue. Image Credit: NASA/STScI Digitized Sky Survey/Noel Carboni

South of Orion is Lepus, the hare. Lepus, muscular and larger than the rabbit, and with much larger feet, is considered a female totem. The hare, like the rabbit mythically articulates creativity, except this is one who is boldly pro-creative, and often is silently and perceptively scheming to outsmart and outrun its competition for the multiplication of abundance—another facet of this several degree area of sidereal Taurus—making for the managerial, administrative, and business-minded quality common to these stars. The rabbit and the hare are both associated with the moon, the feminine and fertility, and tremendous creativity.

The northern Camel (Camelopardalis), articulates a significant aspect of the quality of sidereal Taurus. The Camel spreads wealth around the world through commerce and business, is a resilient, enduring, hard working and intelligent beast of burden with the ability to go for days without water before becoming distressed, one suited for long and arduous journeys. This also articulates the patient, stable and enduring nature of Taurus in general. This few-degree area of Taurus has somewhat of a maternal protective nature, which can turn possessive.

Our First Quarter Moon impels enterprising action that supports home and family. It brings emphasis to material sustenance, commerce and financial matters. It may impel action to initiate new projects or enterprises with emphasis on providing material resources that support, protect and ensure the success of any new ventures. It impels us to be resourceful, inventive and original, to apply our imagination and creativity to produce abundance.

The Sun & Mercury

JupiterR-Pluto Square
Orb: 3° 00' March 6, 2017 UT

The Sun and Mercury make their superior conjunction on March 6 in Aquarius (Mercury is on the far side of the Sun, but 1° 40' south of the ecliptic.) This marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the current Mercury synodic cycle, presented in the November 29, 2016 Lunar Planner.

Vesta Direct

Vesta completes her retrograde on March 7 in the Gemini Twins, just after opposing Pluto, and just as the Moon conjoins Vesta. Vesta's retrograde and her significant T-square with the Uranus-Eris opposition to Jupiter-Haumea was presented in the previous January 28, 2017 Lunar Planner. This is a good day to reflect on any clarity gained during the retrograde and any new sense of focus. Now is the time to begin to apply it. Vesta will again square Jupiter on March 19, and then will again square Uranus-Eris opposite Haumea in April, as the Sun approaches Uranus and Eris.

Vesta in an astrological chart reveals where and how we relate to our knowledge, to what we know and how we apply it, to where we place our focus and dedication, and to what we make our commitments to.

The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.

The Gibbous Moon of March 8 occurs in Cancer and under the auspices of the Great Bear. Conjoining stars include Al Tarf and Tegmine on Cancer; Talitha (Kappa and Iota) of Ursa Major; and the Pulsar APO 0823+26 in Cancer.

The 2017 Lunar Planner Writing Journal

The 2017 Lunar Planner
Writing Journal

Al Tarf, Beta Cancer, marks the southern back leg of the crab. Although the brightest star of the constellation, it, like the others of Cancer, is unspectacular. Al Tarf imparts desire to work for and care for others. Tegmine, Zeta Cancer (Tegmen) is a multiple star system containing at least four stars. Tegmine refers to the protective shell of the crab, a cover that protects.

Both of these stars and this area of the Crab express an incubational quality, to create a nest or home, a place that serves to protect. They impart a kind considerate ethical caregiver type nature, a desire to help others. Due to imparting an impetus to care for and nurture others, this can make one self-sacrificing, taking on the struggle of others. They can impart a complacent attitude with somewhat of a sluggishness to change or emerge from slumber, which can impel a need to be prodded to awaken.

Also conjoining is the pulsar APO 0823+26 in Cancer impelling us to emerge from any psycho-emotional issues common to collective consciousness and from our own ingrained limiting thought patterns. It impels us to become independent and free thinkers rather than co-dependant followers of dogmatic belief structures of mass-consciousness or of groups we have been participating within.

Generally pulsars lie along the galactic plane acting as navigational beacons for the soul, guiding us if we listen. This pulsar has a non-galactic orientation, expressing at a more mundane level. Here we must watch the propensity to reinforce our existing beliefs with more rhetorical dogma. For the less aware, it may even reinforce behavior driven from such dogmatic consciousness, creating monotonous drone-like creatures of habit.

The Great Bear, Ursa Major.

The forefoot of the Great Bear is marked by Talitha (Iota) and Kappa of Ursa Major, which I dub as protectress, guardian, and nurturer of humanity. This duo is the Chinese "High Dignitary." Although minor stars they should not be taken lightly as these stars lie in principal stellar orientation within the Bear. Of the Great Bear they are associated with the global scene and world powers. They inspire us to become a caring and nurturing force for each other and for all life, a force that responsibility supports our emergence from darkness, dogma, and delusion, emergence from the limits and bounds created by our structured beliefs, a force that supports our reawakening to light, to live in freedom, and in greater personal fulfillment.

Our Gibbous Moon may arouse a desire to be cared for or to care for others, yet at the same time revealing our need to be willing to take greater care of ourselves rather than being dependent upon others or acquiescing to what is deemed nurturing by governing factions. It brings inspiration to be considerate while being genuine, open, and honest, without dogma, defense or pretense, but at the same time it impels us to emerge from a complacent acceptance of our current lives dictated by mass-consciousness and group-based belief structures, to become free thinkers with interest for the greater wellbeing of all life.

The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some
is a New World for those who realize it is.

Full Moon Sidereal Astrology Chart

This Full Moon occurs in late sidereal Leo on March 12. The Sun conjoins Pallas and Chiron, and this axis creates and inconjunct aspect to the Uranus-Eris opposition to Jupiter-Haumea.

New Moon conjoining stars include Denebola of Leo, Alpha Antilia, Alkes of Crater and Avior Carina of Argo Navis.

Zosma, Chort and Denebola are a triangle of stars that form the hind of the Lion, with Denebola marking the tip of the Lion's tail and the end of the constellation. Cuspal Virgo is overseen by Benetnash (Alkaid) of Ursa Major, which enters the ecliptic just into sidereal Virgo. Benetnash also conjoins Cor Caroli (Alpha) of Canes Venatici and the Supergiant Whirlpool Galaxy M51, just under Benetnash, Zavijava of Virgo, and Labrum Crater. All of these stars reveal the nature of this transitional area of the zodiak.

This is a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, one that can stimulate dynamic creative expression, but it can also be filled with diversionary commotion and grand spectacle, fueled by Antilia, the hot air pump. Denebola, tail of the Lion, provides a warning that there is more going on behind the scenes, that things may not be what they seem, to not get caught up in the antics of others and jump to conclusions based upon surface appearances or merely upon what is being presented.

This area of late Leo-cuspal Virgo is of those behind the scenes. It is often of political-religious figureheads manipulating the affairs of the world for personal motive while promising salvation from the human struggle. It is also of those of pure intent, those with true wisdom, the seers, who are either hidden behind the scenes or who may be on stage but without ulterior motive. These stars create a diverse polarity that creates this several degree transitional area of the Leo-Virgo cusp.

In the southern heavens, and in contrast to the diversionary commotion occurring on the global stage, we find a different quality altogether. Crater is the Golden Chalice, the Cup of Salvation, or simply the Cup of Fulfillment. Alkes (Alpha), Labrum (Delta) and Epsilon of Crater straddle the Leo-Virgo Cusp. Alkes means cup and Labrum is associated with the quest for the Holy Grail. Further south are the stars of Vela, sail of the Argo and Avior Carina of Argo Navis, which conjoins Alkes Crater.

These stars are associated with the underlying spiritual truth and wisdom that guides us to our greater fulfillment and well being, a truth far hidden from the ego-driven wanna-be spiritual-political self-proclaimed authorities who spout principles they do not embody or live. Avior, the third brightest star of Carina, is the holder or steward of esoteric wisdom. Avior also articulates the true sage who most often is one without need to be on stage, one elusive who is found behind the scenes simply living their spiritual truth. These are often those people working with transcendent currents of wisdom that influence the surface world in genuine ways—those who make a real difference but who do not need to at a personality level.

Thus, our Full brings emphasis to create the inner physical, emotional and mental clarity making discernment possible, to see through the diversionary propaganda fed to the people by controlling politically driven figureheads. It impels us to seek a deeper spiritual truth and more meaningful fulfillment that lie transcendent to the alluring and superficial commotion occurring upon the global stage.

The New Mars-Sedna-Ceres synodic cycles

Mars and Sedna initiate a new 1.9-year synodic cycle on March 10, continuing through January 28, 2019. Mars and Ceres initiate a new 3.36-year synodic cycle on March 12, continuing through July 22, 2020, at the time of the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto synods. The Ceres-Sedna 4.65-year cycle began a bit earlier, on March 6, continuing through October 27, 2021.

All of these synods occur in early sidereal Taurus and under the auspices of Perseus. The synods with Sedna conjoin Algol and the Gorgoneas (Secunda, Tertia and Quarta). The Mars-Ceres synod occurs just about a degree further into Taurus, still conjoining Algol and Gorgonea Quarta. In essence, theses synods all have the same stellar influence. The synchrony of the cycles starting together is especially significant due to Sedna's role in stimulating the return of the feminine force, and also because of Sedna's prominence in the overall Uranus-Eris / Jupiter Haumea geometry.

Perseus and the Gorgoneas

Here we have the synthesis of the high energy and impetus for assertive action in leadership brought by Mars, with how we nurture and are nurtured brought by Ceres, with the reemergence of the feminine force into our world paradigm brought by Sedna.

Cuspal and early Taurus is of will power, strength, and stamina, of trusting our inner knowing, our inner heart's light to build our lives and all that supports us in the physical world.

Algol, Beta Persei, marking the cusp of sidereal Taurus, is the head of slain Medusa held by Perseus, also called the Arabic Demon Star. Of the Gorgons, Medusa, who is crowned with seven snakes for hair, represents the chaotic self-defeating forces within self, driven by fear. It is fear that freezes us in our tracks, the force that turns us to stone. Perseus cannot look at Medusa directly lest he will turn to stone. He instead uses his shield to see her reflection. This mythically articulates our need to look at the monsters apparently outside of self as a reflection of and that are created by our own inner fear. It is the inner fear we need to slay.

Algol brings us a physical challenge and indicates an initiatory and experiential process is required or is at hand. This process begins by slaying our deepest fears to claim our inner creative personal power, or be forever frozen in our tracks unable to claim our fulfillment and complete our greater purpose on Earth.

Alignments with Algol can draw a relentless assault of experience that can block or divert us from our purpose until we realize the monster is within—the fear based reflection of self. Algol forces us to look at self rather than at the apparent monsters in the outer world—to recognize they are of our own projection, to own and embrace the fear within. Slaying our fear establishes an inner neurological order that in turn allows us to take empowered action in the physical world. Perseus, the hero, embodies the essence of establishing this order.

The issue here is not about the feminine (or females) conquering or overthrowing the apparent monster outside of self (the awry patriarchal aspect of Mars that has run rampant on Earth), but is about claiming the feminine power within as a nurturing force in the world, to actualize this power—the way to manifest the return of the feminine force on Earth.

2017 Mars-Ceres-Sedna Synods

Prior to 1950-1954, Sedna was south of the Celestial Equator (CE) in late sidereal Pisces. We might say that Sedna’s reemergence into the world was gestating in human consciousness up to this time. Sedna’s role supporting the emergence of the feminine shifted significantly around that time, and for those born at this time, as Sedna moved from being submerged in psychic-emotional sidereal Pisces onto the shores of sidereal Aries, conjoining the upright fish of Pisces. Sedna was also crossing from south of Earth’s celestial equator to north at the same time—creating a strong drive to support the feminine reemergence in the world, for that generation and those to follow. Sedna's passage through sidereal Aries was about claiming the strength and impetus for personal accomplishment (not only for females but also for the feminine aspect in males). This was a time (early 1950s to the mid-2020s) of emerging from suppression by the techno bureaucratic monster (the Head of Cetus in mid-sidereal Aries) claiming equality, equal rights and authority in the patriarchal-dominant world.

In 2014-2017 Sedna crosses the Taurain cusp, under the initiatory lesson's of Algol. Over the immediate years ahead, Sedna will fully move into the bounds of sidereal Taurus, to embody the heroism Perseus exemplifies. (Perseus expresses through the first decan of sidereal Taurus.) This time (making passage from Aries into Taurus) marks a significant transition in Sedna's sojourn and in the role of the feminine force in the world, first to fully conquer the fear and other related emotional patterns imprinted at a cellular and genetic level due to eons of exile, and now to fully bring this re-empowered feminine force into full physical manifestation. This transition also supports a more physically active and prominent participation of females in world. This manifestation of the return of the feminine force will be successful because Sedna returns to her rightful place in Taurus, as Taurus is the primordial mother.

The synergistic engagement of the Mars-Ceres-Sedna cycles occurring in this eclipse lunar cycle, all of which continue over the few years ahead, is absolutely empowering for Sedna's re-emergence.

The double Yod: Mars-Uranus-Eris opposite Jupiter-Haumea with the Sun, Pallas and Chiron

The Sun, Pallas & Chiron

The Sun conjoins the Pallas-Chiron conjunction on March 15 UT (Mar 14 MST) in late sidereal Aquarius, under the Circlet of Pisces. This marks the mid-points of vision and realization of both the Earth-Pallas cycle and the Earth-Chiron cycle. The Pallas synodic cycle began on August 20, 2016, presented in the August 2, 2016 Lunar Planner. The Chiron synodic cycle began on September 15-16, 2016 Full Moon Penumbral Eclipse, presented in the September 1, 2016 Lunar Planner.

The conjunction now brings realizations regarding the healing of societal injustices. It brings insight to recognize patterns of societal wounding. It also impels the development of strategies to address the healing required—to right what was wronged.

The Sun-Pallas-Chiron alignment also iniataes a new Pallas-Chiron-4.9-year cycle.

This conjunction is also a part of the Uranus-Eris opposition to Jupiter-Haumea, Ixion-Saturn and Sedna double Yod. Jupiter is now just in a 2° orb to its second square with Pluto, which occurs on the following New Moon.

Pallas Athene

Mythological Pallas Athene is the goddess of Wisdom, born from the head (wisdom) of Zeus (Jupiter). Pallas was strong-willed and would act on her own knowledge and wisdom, and preferred artful diplomacy rather than conflict, but was ready to fight if need be. Pallas is commonly called both the Warrior Woman and the Peaceful General.

Pallas expresses the artful application of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality’s paradox—from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality—from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another, and to claim that experience as wisdom. She invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express nonjudgmental courageous solution beyond life’s paradoxes created by opposing forces. Mature Pallas expresses from the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, from a unified awareness. She is applier and defender of social justice, and accepts personal responsibility for having co-created one's experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness.

Pallas imparts the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness, and an ability to link, unify and bring pieces together. She imparts wonderful perceptual and organizational skills and a capacity for pattern recognition, planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts of artists and political reformists.

JupiterR-Pluto Square
Orb: 2° 00' March 15, 2017 UT

Pallas issues can express as spiteful withdrawal, which ultimately can manifest as self-sabotage due to judgments about use of power or awry creative / sexual energy. It can also express as righteousness, judgment and invalidation of opposite or alternative views, lashing out with a vengeance. Pallas issues can express as an imbalance in the masculine and feminine aspects of self, such as sexual imbalances, dyslexic and perceptual problems. Pallas governs the Liver / Spleen balance (red / violet), which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain. Pallas significantly effects emotional and physical equilibrium.

The Sun enters sidereal Pisces on March 15, just after the Pallas-Chiron conjunction, the day before the Disseminating Moon.

Manifestation & Demonstration

Disseminating Moon

The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.

The Disseminating Moon occurs on March 16 in mid-sidereal Libra. The Moon conjoins Mu of Virgo; Alphecca of the Northern Crown; Menkent and Omega Centauri; and Acrux and Becrux of the Southern Cross.

Virgo, the Centaur, the Southern Cross and the Diamond of Argo Navis

The Centaur, who stands on the galactic equator, is a principle constellation expressing through sidereal Libra. The Centaur lies under the Virgin's legs (in our modern image of a supine Virgin) and the Chelae of the Scorpion. The Centaur is protector of the Southern Cross and benevolent teacher of its principles. The Centaur teaches the right way to live to attain self-mastery and evolutionary freedom. The Centaur teaches that it is essential to seek and return to the original cardinality of the soul and live it. This is to claim that cardinality as our foundation as prerequisite to reach beyond the entrapments we find our selves in, the entrapments of duality-based experience, in order to claim the Northern Crown, to attain our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment, free from soul growth through the balance of experience; and ultimately free from the reincarnational process itself.

Menkent, the head of the Centaur, embodies the wisdom of the Centaur. Menkent imparts the Centaur's teachings about the soul's incarnational process and that we must make a conscious choice to take responsibility to free ourselves from our karmic patterns of the past.

The Southern Cross, lying under the Centaur, articulates the original cardinality of the soul. It exemplifies the pure intent of the soul before the aberrations, confusions, attitudes, and beliefs incurred by the soul throughout its entire incarnational sojourn. The Feet of the Vrigin in mid-sidereal Libra articulate a point of perfect equipoise based in soul's wisdom amalgamated through soul's incarnational sojourn. The stars of the Southern Cross conjoin those of the Northern Crown. Acrux (Alpha) of the Southern Cross and Alphecca of the Northern Crown exactly conjoin in mid-sidereal Libra.

Omega Centauri

The Omega Centauri Globular Cluster lies near Centaurus-A at mid-sidereal Libra. Omega Centauri contains about ten million stars and is the most massive of all of our galaxy's globular clusters—the largest and brightest globular cluster in the sky; and a favorite object for stargazers in the southern hemisphere. Omega Centauri appears almost as big as a full moon. Dense globulars like Omega Centauri impart a quality of cohesion and strength. Omega Centauri inspires one to embody and boldly radiate one's wisdom in its entirety. This is the power of the soul found deep within self while meditating in the Temple of the Centaur.

The globular cluster Omega Centauri is seen in all its splendour in this image captured with the WFI camera from ESO's La Silla Observatory. The image shows only the most central part of the cluster—the full cluster appears almost as big as the full moon in the sky. The field of view of this image is about half a degree.

Our Disseminating Moon impels us to return to our souls' pure intent and purpose, to embody and express the wisdom of our souls gained throughout our life experience and even our entire incarnational sojourn. It impels us to establish equilibrium and harmony in our lives, and to strive for freedom from our past patterns of entrapment, to claim the Northern Crown.

Uranus-Eris #3

Uranus makes its exact third conjunction with Eris (opposite Haumea) just after the Disseminating Moon. Although this is the final Uranus-Eris conjunction, it is not the end of this energetic. Another climatic configuration occurs in September 2017, as Ceres creates a T-Square with Jupiter-Haumea opposite Eris, immediately followed with the third Jupiter-Uranus opposition. Uranus will oppose Haumea two more times, in late 2017 and early 2018, and the Eris-Haumea opposition continues well into 2018. See "Disclosure & Discovery: New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017."

The Equinox

The Equinox occurs on March 20, 10:28:35 UT (3:28:35 AM MST), just a few hours before Last Quarter Moon, the time when "inner needs" surface in the lunar cycle.

Some astrologers, those in the northern hemisphere anyway, consider the March (spring) equinox to mark the start of the year, perhaps for several reasons, most prominently because this is when the Sun conjoins the vernal point (0° Tropical Aries), which can be considered the seasonal start for human activity in the northern hemisphere. In addition, the vernal axis is more about externalized human activity in the context of Earth's evolutionary cycle whereas the solstice is more about the underlying energetic expressing through Gaia into human consciousness. From the solstice astronomical New Year, the March equinox is the first square in the annual cycle, stimulating externalized action.

Inner Need

This phase completes with our Inner Needs surfacing to consciousness, to become aware of what is important to self and what is not. A sense of completion comes forth with a recognition that the past scenario has served its purpose and it is time to leave what is antiquated behind. Essentially a lesser self is what we will be shedding. Acknowledging the needs we feel surfacing on the inner is essential to create the changes in our lives on the outer. This inner recognition provides the challenge to do so. There is impetus to withdraw from the activity of this entire cycle, to emerge from the stage setting that served our intended growth. Remember that others are having their inner needs as well! Demanding others change is not the solution to our well being. This is a good day for quite time. Allowing mutual space and sharing our realizations with mutual respect supports all parties.

Initiate Change

It is now time to plow under the crops so they may become the fertilizer for the next cycle. It is time to let go of any vested interest or attachment to the experience of the Lunar Cycle and to the stage props that served our growth. This is a transformational time, a time for personal change. Step forth from old facades, and free yourself from past ways of participating in life. This is a time of departure, of walking away from that which is no longer nourishing and to prepare the soil of our lives for that which is. Knowing now what our Truth is, it is time to consciously live it. Doing so provides a choice for others to also live theirs. Not making the realized changes keeps ourselves bound in a circle of old patterns of growth; changing allows us to spiral to a new octave of experience—one that will eventually sprout in the next lunar cycle to come.

Time for Change

Last Quarter Moon

TThe Last Quarter Moon creates our “inner need to initiate change” in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on March 20 in early sidereal Sagittarius conjoining Pholus and Quaoar, and the Gate of God of Earth's Precessional Cross.

The Centaur Pholus

Pholus imparts an alchemical quality and can manifest as an unusual ability or an unexpected experience that can catalyze profound change. Pholus imparts a capacity to see through surface manifestations to the transcendent mysteries or workings underlying a condition or situation. Pholus often works in a mysterious or shrouded way, and often manifests in a whirlwind of confusion as some type of catalyzing agent, sometimes medicinal, that makes possible a transition or passage that otherwise would not occur. Pholus can trigger an avalanche of events that leads to a transformation of a long-standing condition that should have already been addressed, even one that transcends generations or lifetimes. More about Pholus.

The minor planet Quaoar (pronounced kwah-whar) was discovered in June of 2002. Quaoar was the name given to the “creation force” by the Native American Tongva tribe who were the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles basin in Southern California. Quaoar is about one-tenth the diameter of Earth, about half the size of Pluto, and larger than the four primary asteroids combined. Quaoar has an orbital period of 288 years. (Pluto orbits the sun in 248 years). Quaoar lies a bit further out than Pluto. Quaoar’s orbit is remarkably circular compared to Pluto and the other new planets, which have highly elliptical orbits. Quaoar’s orbit is tilted only slightly to the ecliptic plane.

Quaoar’s near circular orbit and mild orbital inclination imparts a more gentle and harmonious energetic. As a Kuiper Belt planet, like Pluto and others, Quaoar resonates more with the transcendent workings of our lives, demanding we surrender egoic consciousness and align ourselves to the natural forces governing life, rather than to man’s attempted dictatorial reign over them.

Quaoar seems to have a character supporting a “harmonious revolution”— to help us surrender to the natural order of life. In addition, Quaoar inspires our return to the “sacredness of life”; to realize all things in life are sacred; and that it is our responsibility to have respect for natural order and to live in harmony with nature; without this we do not have respect for our selves. More about Quaoar.

The Trifid Nebula, M20

The Trifid Nebula, M20 (conjoining the Gate of God), is easy to find with a small telescope and a well-known stop in the nebula rich constellation Sagittarius. But where visible light pictures show the nebula divided into three parts by dark, obscuring dust lanes, this penetrating infrared image reveals filaments of luminous gas and newborn stars. This spectacular false-color view is courtesy of the Spitzer Space Telescope. Astronomers have used the Spitzer infrared image data to count newborn and embryonic stars that otherwise lie hidden in the natal dust and glowing clouds of this intriguing stellar nursery. Sagittarius, stargate to Galactic Center, is commonly referred to as the Sagittarian Centaur, Zen Archer, or the First Horseman whose arrow points toward Galactic Center, the heart of our Galaxy, from which expresses the cosmic intelligent force that forms and suspends our entire Galaxy.

Sagittarius is both a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation because it lies upon the galactic equator and the ecliptic. Sagittarius oversees the "Gate of God" (5° sidereal Sag)—the primary reference point for the cycle of Earth’s ~25,000-year Precessional Cross, created by the intersection of the plane of our galaxy and the plane of our solar system. Earth's Precessional Cycle, and the cycle of the Precessional Cross occurring in the ecliptic ring, governs the evolutionary cycle of the soul collective incarnate on Earth.

Sagittarius is the spiritual warrior. On a personal level, the stars of Sagittarius generally inspire demonstrable action to live a deeper inner truth, or a more universal truth, and to express that truth through an undaunted Zen focus to hit the target of our highest ideals and dreams, ultimately to achieve a greater unified awareness.

Our Last Quarter Moon may arouse an need to make a spiritual revolution in our lives, perhaps to change on the inner and/or in our externalized lives in ways that support us to live more true to our soul purpose, to what we have truly come to Earth for, to create a greater unified awareness, or simply to make changes in our lives that better support our longer-term goals, ideals or aspirations.

Coalescence into Essence

The latter part of this phase results in coalescing all that was experienced in the cycle into its essence, into its seed form. It is a reflective time looking back over the past, of extracting and assembling what was learned from the cycle, claiming its true wealth and wisdom. This is a great time to explore what we learned in the context of the new moon theme. It is this seed essence which is of true value to our greater growth. This seed will sprout in the next Lunar Cycle of growth and unfoldment, and morph into the next Lunar Cycle's theme.

Focus to the Future

Our focus now turns toward the future. We now turn away from looking back over the past cycle completely and begin to look ahead, preparing for and anticipating the future cycle to come, to a new step to emerge in our Lunar Path of Fulfillment. The seed is planted. It is time to let it germinate. Completing any lose ends is appropriate, or to move into a new position for the next cycle to unfold. Here we make the field of all possibilities smooth and clear, ready for the new sprouting to occur.

Balsamic Moon

The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.

JupiterR-Pluto Square
Orb: 1° 00' March 23, 2017 UT

Juno conjoins the Centaur Chariklo on March 24, 2017 amongst the stars of the Zen Archer, conjoining Ascella and Nunki of Sagittarius. This is the first of three conjunctions, the second will occur during their retrogrades, and the third will occur in October.

The Balsamic Moon occurs on March 24 in sidereal Capricorn and under the auspices of the Dolphin star system. Conjoining stars include Sualocin and Gamma 1 & 2 of Delphinus; and Ras Alkurki (Al Dahnab) of Gruis.

The stars of Gruis are of resolute verdicts, decisive decisions and fortuitous tidings based upon bodies of knowledge, especially regarding legalities, business dealings, constitutional matters, and news associated with new life and new beginnings. This is an eloquently expressive and articulate area of the zodiak, with gregarious and loquacious qualities. It is of libraries, courts, congresses, publishing houses, literary agencies, or where ideas and information is formulated, agreed upon and concretized. Al Nair of Gruis imparts mental brilliance, and along with conjoining Al Dhanab, they impel articulate grammatical expression, especially in the areas of law and natural history.

Delphinus expresses through the last decan of sidereal Capricorn, merging the primary essence of these heavenly angelic guides—the Dolphins—with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence that permeates later sidereal Capricorn. The oracular angelic guides of Delphi merge and meander with the future-oriented visionary Aquarian influence through the rock-hard conforming stoic past of Capricorn and spring from the ground as prophetic life carrying waters—a flow of guiding wisdom not otherwise available by mortal efforts alone, a flow that leads us from the crystallized into the unbounded future to become.

Sualocin and Rotanev of Delphinus offer guidance for those willing to trust in this greater guiding intelligence, guidance greater than our personal efforts can generate alone. The Dolphins, an expression of angelic dominion, are guides for the wayward, as old salts know. They reveal the way to make safe passage to our destination, to our greater nourishment and fulfillment, provided we listen to and participate in the serendipity of life.

To experience in the serendipity of life requires we surrender the pre-occupations of reasoning mind, those of worry and our need to define and control, of what we "think" we "should" be doing. It instead requires us to be attentive to and trust any subtle impulses we may feel at any given moment—to move with the Divine Intelligence that permeates and fluidly guides our lives. Here lies the art of getting out of our own way to allow creative solutions that lead us from the conforming bounds of limited mind.

Our Balsamic Moon coalesces into essence the experience of this eclipse lunar cycle, which becomes the seed to express anew into the following lunar cycle. It brings emphasis to trusting in the forces that guide our lives, forces and cycles, like those planetary, that are naturally coherent and attuned within an intelligently ordered symphony guiding our evolutionary unfoldment.

The New Venus 1.6-year Synodic Cycle

The Sun and retrograde Venus conjoin in sidereal Pisces on March 25. Looking from the Sun however, Venus and Earth nest amongst the stars of Virgo. Technically, this is the synodic alignment, and the stars conjoining reveal the underlying new cycle's theme. The Venus retrograde, presented above amalgamates with this new theme, and articulates the nature of the transition from the previous cycle into the next.

The synod exactly conjoins Zaniah of Virgo and Turais Carina of Argo Navis. Also conjoining are Beta Coma Berenices, Eta and Zeta of Crater, and Phi Velorum of the Argo.

The March 25, 2017 Venus Synod conjoining Zaniah of Virgo

Zaniah, Eta Virgo, is an ecliptical star, less than 2° north in ecliptical latitude. Zaniah is also the Chinese "Left-hand Maintainer of Law" (Allen). Zaniah inspires the "right use of will" directed by soul-level impulses and unadulterated by personality or egoic-level influences. Zaniah impels right action and participation in the here and now, moment-by-moment. Zaniah embodies the essence of the Virgin’s purity—to become a clear vessel and to know right action. Zaniah imparts a feminine quality.

Conjoining Zaniah in the northern heavens is Beta Coma Berenices. Coma Berenices is the jeweled crown lying just north of the Virgin's head. Ornate Crowns in antiquity were designed with specific metals, jewels, and geometries to accentuate the wearer's communion with transcendent realms of consciousness. Simply, Diadem impels us to attune to, trust in and follow our spiritual / soul guidance. Beta Coma Berenices, conjoining Zaniah, emphasizes our need to apply personal will according to our spiritual / soul guidance, which expresses through the magnetic forces of nature, in the messages provided by the world around us. Beta of Coma impels the administration and application of our spiritual guidance and principles in our physical lives.

Crater lies south of the ecliptic on back of Hydra. Its stars conjoin those of northern Coma, the crown of the Virgin. Crater is the receiver or receptacle (sometimes referred to as the Cup of Salvation). Crater impels us to transcend the busyness and diversions of life and to listen, to become receptacles of our greater soul wisdom and guidance, to seek this greater fulfillment.

Crater combined with nearby Corvus was Julius Schiller's "Ark of the Covenant," no doubt with religious overtones. The Ark can also be considered a technological transceiver for extraterrestrial communication, or a measure of arc in precessional (God's) time, it also has to do with our personal attunement. Our spinal columns are vertically arrayed antenna systems, the most sensitive of all, which receives gravitational waves encoded with cosmic intelligence that the Earth receives and re-expresses from Earth's core outward. These waves of guidance culminate in our cranial structures where they are then refocused to our pineal gland, neuro-endocrine transducers that translates this information into that which the pituitary, the master control center of the brain, can use. Being a clear, open and grounded vessel is required for perception of these subtle energies. Following them is yet more important.

Conjoining Zaniah in the southern heavens is Turais Carina and Phi Velorum, both of Argo Navis, which lie along the galactic equator, and thus are more associated with our longer-term soul-level sojourn and evolutionary course.

A Galactic Equatorial view of Argo Navis

Turais (Aspidiske) of the Argo is a rather rare white supergiant star that shines with a luminosity of 4900 times our Sun, with a radius estimated to be about 40 times that of our Sun. "This Arabian name has led to some confusion regarding the nature of this star, even confused to be part of Puppis the stern of the Argo, but it lies along the gunwale in Carina, the hull of the Argo, under Velorum the sail." (Allen)

Phi Velorum and the adjoining Pulsar P 0950 reside exactly on the Galactic Equator in the Sail (Velorum) of the Argo. Pulsars in general are beacons for the soul, and in this case, inspiring our attunement to the evolutionary currents beyond our incarnational moment, those of the greater evolutionary process itself. P-0950 has a pulse rate of 1.436551 seconds, which is a frequency of 0.696111729 Hz. Raised a few octaves, this translates to an Alpha brain wave frequency of 11.1377...Hz; and this translates both to infrared and violet wavelengths in the light spectrum. Thus, P-0950 links energy currents occurring in the spiritual realm (crown chakra) with the very root / earth primordial response (Earth Chakra—about a foot below our feet). This pulsar reminds us that to receive our spiritual guidance we must be grounded—like any good antenna.

Galactic Turais and Phi Velorum puts ecliptical Zaniah's "right use of will" into a greater evolutionary context, one with cosmic ramifications that extend throughout spacetime. Our acts of will are not isolated, cut off and limited to the moment itself, but extend into the past-future time-stream of the soul influencing the continuous cosmic currents in soul's greater evolutionary journey in ways that are unseen in the action moment.

Turais asks us to extend our awareness into this time-stream, while Zaniah inspires clear action in the moment from soul's and nature's guiding influence. Thus each action moment is one punctual droplet of many composing a continuous time-stream that formulates the path or wave upon which soul travels. Turais invites us to recognize our actions extend into and influence not only the nature of our own lives, but also the lives of others, effecting the meandering currents in an ocean of being. They set up resonances in spacetime that define the nature of experiences yet to come for our selves and in the evolutionary journey of all involved.

This is not to be confused with attempting to be responsible for others or to define their experience—which is a miss-use of will. The responsibility is for our active and conscious participation from the clarity of our spiritual soul-level guidance expressed in action. Turais demands we act from the awareness of our greater evolutionary journey and adds a sense of "cosmic responsibility" for what is "put into motion" through Zaniah's "right use of will."

The underlying current of this new Earth-Venus cycle impels us to attune our hearts and values with our greater spiritual guidance, to true spiritual principles, to open our hearts to be the spiritual receptacles they are. It impels us to act from and apply our personal will from this heart-centered awareness, knowing that our actions have currents of their own that extend through spacetime and effect our evolutionary journey, personally and collectively.

Jupiter Square Pluto #2

The Jupiter-Pluto square is active this entire lunar cycle, entering its 3° orb on the First Quarter Moon, with the orb tightening throughout the lunar cycle. Jupiter makes its exact square with Pluto on March 30, just after the following New Moon. Now, with Jupiter retrograde, Jupiter begins to move back away from its conjunction with Haumea and direct opposition to Uranus-Eris, and in doing so, Jupiter makes its approach to its square with Pluto. This is the second on three geocentric squares, all of which bring the actual heliocentric square into palpable Earthian experience. The first square occurred on November 24, 2016 and the final one will occur on August 4, 2017. The heliocentric square marks entry into the last quarter of the current 12.5-year Jupiter-Pluto synodic cycle that began on November 23, 2007 and completes July 31, 2020, along with the completions of the Jupiter-Saturn 20-year cycle and the Saturn-Pluto 34-year cycle.

Although an older article, one I wrote in 2007, I discuss our current Jupiter-Pluto cycle. See the "2007 section" in "The Synodic Cycles of Pluto, Ixion & Quaoar with Jupiter, Saturn, & Nessus: A Historical Timeline & Astrological Exploration 1982-2020."

The Jupiter-Pluto synod is the culmination of the three Jupiter 2007 synods—perhaps the most significant. The last Jupiter-Pluto cycle began in December of 1994 (along with Ixion) in early sidereal Scorpio, in front the head of the Scorpio. Thus the theme of this new 13-year cycle in early sidereal Sag is dramatically different than the 1994 Jupiter-Pluto cycle; and thus, the next 13 years will be dramatically different than the last 13 years. Pluto becomes a revealor of truth in sidereal Sag. This cycle should bring a wide-sweeping movement to uncover the truth, to make visible that which has been hidden behind the scenes, especially regarding the use and abuse of power.

Entering the last quarter of the Jupiter-Pluto cycle coincides with many other major transitions in other planetary cycles occuring in 2016-2017, all creating a significant completion period over the next few years, presented in article "2016-2020 Sociopolitical & Personal Explorations."

The following New Moon occurs on March 28 UT (March 27 MST) amongst a stellium of planets, now in Pisces. More to come then.
