Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.

This March 28, 2017 (March 27 MST) New Moon lies in amongst the stars of the western swimming fish of Pisces and in the shadow of the Venus retrograde. The Sun and Venus conjoined a couple days ago, around the Balsamic Moon of the previous lunar cycle (about 2° early in the ecliptic). This lunar cycle emphasizes a significant energetic encountered along Venus' retrograde journey, that is, clearing psychic webs with ourselves, those we get caught in that make it difficult to realize our hearts' desires, our passion, our fulfillment, the love and abundance we seek in our lives.
What are psychic webs? Imagine an old mansion, house or cave encrusted with webs covering everything, which makes it dusty, dark, and very sticky to walk through. Similarly, there can be etheric webs within self, an energetic webwork covering our entire neurological system. There may even be very dense plexuses of webs at specific places within self, where it can be exceptionally dark and sticky. Generally these areas within self are where we hold old emotional patterns. Psychic webs can accumulate over time when we do not take the time to clear ourselves, mentally, emotionally and physically. They can be accumulations from our life experiences or those we may have inherited, and in some cases they me be ones we have unwittingly stepped into and have taken on as our own, even when they are not rightfully ours. If we do, it is only because we are not clear within self to start with.
One way to easily clear physical webs is with a torch, to ignite them in fire's light. To make visible and to clear those within self, we can visualize bringing light down through the body into every nook and cranny. When encountering darkness or resistance, simply pause for a while bathing it in light. Dark webs reveal themselves in the presence of light. Once they do, we can then embrace and release them simply with the willingness to unconditionally feel whatever surfaces as we shine our light into the darkness.
For those who like to work with light and color, Emerald Green is a great color to envision when working with the heart. It is a healing color. The Emerald is a precious gem that opens, nurtures and balances the Heart Chakra, and is that of abundance and enduring love. It is the sacred stone of Aphrodite (Venus).
Our Piscean New Moon occurs under the Great Square of Pegasus and over the thrashing tail of Cetus, the techno bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The New Moon conjoins Alpha and Beta of Lacerta, our primordial Lizard, in the far northern heavens. From the far south is Alpha Reticuli, along with its companions, Delta, Gamma, Eta and Iota. Lying over the tail of ole' Cetus, it conjoins Phi 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the tail, creating emotionally turbulent waters. Our prominent New Moon star is Algenib, the wing tip of Pegasus and one of the four stars creating the Great Square of Pegasus.
Pisces is the constellation of the two fishes—a dual sign. One fish swims westward, horizontally along the ecliptic plane, with its head, marked by the "Circlet" of stars lying upon the Aquarius-Pisces cusp. The western fish, and the "Circlet" of stars marking its head, articulates our primordial autonomic (sleeping) nature, and our unconsciously reactive participation in the cycle of mortal life. It is of our inherited genealogies that we are born into and the behavioral patterns they express. The eastern fish leaps upward, vertically from the ecliptic plane, seeking a greater freedom at the shores of sidereal Aries. The eastern fish articulates our desire to ascend from our inherited past and its ideologies, and our effort to awaken from submersion in the tumultuous psychic emotional human world articulated by southern Cetus.
This specific area of Pisces is about psychic, emotional and genetic energetic currents we carry from the past, those inherited or assumed, and how to rise above them rather then floundering around entrapped in the diverting turbulence they create.
Algenib of the Pegasus Great Square marks the tip of the horse’s wing. Algenib is a fortuitous star and marks the center of sidereal Pisces. Algenib is of the breath, air, oxygen and sunlight, which oxygenate the waters of life, which is necessary for us to breathe while in the emotional waters of life. Agenib brings attention to the importance of breathing, how we breathe, and the quality of what we breathe, as well as to the importance of full-spectrum sunlight. Algenib impels us to lift ourselves above Cetus, the techno bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness, that is, above the psychic-emotional fear-based realm of life. This does not mean in denial of it, but to refine the entire spectrum of self, our mental, emotional and physical density, so as to become vibrationaly light enough so we do not get entangled or caught in the tempestuous dramatics of human life.
Northern Lacerta, our primordial Lizard, is gate-keeper protecting the entry-way to Earth's precessional polar arc and to the "Primordial Origin" of humankind. Lacerta embodies our pure unadulterated primordial essence. Lacerta holds the knowledge of elemental forces that mold consciousness itself into organic form, awareness that precedes thought itself.
Alpha and Beta Lacerta mark the head or intelligence of the Lizard. They lie in mid-sidereal Pisces and conjoin Algenib of Pegasus—an empowered point in sidereal Pisces. Alpha and Beta Lacerta, Along with Algenib, articulate the need or capacity to rise above and gain mastery over the psychic-emotional forces common to the Piscean world—the ability to participate above any entrapment such forces can create. More about Lacerta is presented in the Venus Retrograde article.
Alpha Reticuli, which resides in the very southern heavens, conjoins Alpha and Beta Lacerta, and Algenib. Alpha Reticuli is the foci of the reticule, the sacred geometry of the DNA refined to crystal clarity, the underlying rhomboid or diamond. Alignments with Alpha and Beta Lacerta and Alpha Reticuli stimulate the reptilian brain, governing our instinctual behavior, and the core resonance of the human DNA, which also indicates how the human DNA is receptive to electromagnetic forces, and also susceptible to technological and psychic manipulation. They impel learning how to master our instinctual abilities.

To rise above such manipulative forces requires that we fully embrace the primordial aspects of life by infusing the high spiritual awareness of the soul in and through our entwined genetics of physicality. Without the embodiment of soul awareness, literally illuminating the human DNA, and capacity to express the power of that awareness, we remain vulnerable to and lost in the psychic-emotional collective resonance of human consciousness.
Our ability to function above psychic-emotional forces is not a mere mind trip, something we do in the head alone, in just how we think. It requires a surrender of the emotional tension or resistance we hold, as well as a conscious decision to change our behavior, to allow an opening within the human vessel to infuse soul's coding into the human DNA coding—illuminating the human mold with soul awareness—to transform carbon into diamond, as the DNA is the urn of the soul, the vessel through which soul expresses.
This New Moon, this lunar cycle, and the entirety of the Venus retrograde, provide opportunity to clear emotional and psychic webs, those clouding our hearts' true desires and the capacity to realize those desires. It provides opportunity to reassess and redefine our values, that which is truly important to us, and to create the receptive space within our hearts, the proper heart resonance that allows the fulfillment we seek.
All of the planetary alignments occurring in this lunar cycle arouse deep-seated passions. This lunar cycle can impel us to want to escape from the intensity of life, or delve into its depths, an excursion that can be quite cathartic.
The retrogrades of Juno and the Centaur Chariklo (pronounced Kha'riklo) synthesize in 2017, with their first conjunction occurring on this New Moon. Juno and Chariklo create an interesting pairing. The asteroid Juno is about relationships of all types, the types of relations we want, the covenants we have in our relationships, and the nature of how we interrelate. Chariklo is the largest of Centaurs, named after the nymph Chariklo from Mount Pelion in Greece, Chiron's wife. Chiron and Chariklo have a rather special relationship and thus one interesting to explore in a natal chart, much like one would explore the inseparable Centaur lovers Cyllarus and Hylonome.
Juno is the asteroid of covenant relationships and soul colleagues. Juno is not only of personal relations and covenants made in them, but also those of a business and economic nature to those of political leaders and nations of the world. In the astrological chart, Juno indicates the nature of the issues and opportunities in significant relations of all sorts. Mature Juno is diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and mutually trusting. Mature Juno expresses with a sense of equality within self that provides the ability to draw true partners and those of equality into one’s life. There is an acceptance of another’s truth or opinion without need to challenge or debate. There is an ability to honor and support others in their own choices and decisions. Mature Juno expresses in mutual support and unconditional love to allow each other to grow and change through whatever issues surface.
At a personal level, Juno’s placement in the astrological chart is one of several points that determine the types of significant relations drawn into our lives and the nature of issues we may face in those relations. Juno's placement specifically reveals the nature of the compatibility we seek, that is, what is important to us regarding our partners. More about Juno.
Juno and Chariklo's synchronous retrogrades occur in sidereal Sagittarius, amongst the stars of the Zen Archer. Juno begins her retrograde on May 9, conjoining Pluto, and completes it on August 26, during which a new Earth-Juno synodic cycle begins, on July 2. A new Earth-Chariklo synodic cycle begins at the same time. Juno and Chariklo also initiate a new 4.7-year synodic cycle at the same time (on July 3), which continues through March 17, 2022—thus producing the synchronous Earth-Juno-Chariklo cycles.
Although Juno-Chariklo conjunctions and cycles occur every several years, this one is exceptionally unique for a few reasons. The Juno-Chariklo conjunctions rarely occur during Juno's retrograde. This also means that a new Earth-Juno cycle and a new Earth-Chariklo cycle engage during their retrogrades. In addition to this, these occur at the same time. The Earth-Juno synod occurs on July 2 and the Earth-Chariklo synod occurs on July 3, thus the retrograde loops are in perfect alignment. This produces the synchronous cycles; i.e., the start of the Earth-Juno, the Earth-Chariklo and the Juno-Chariklo cycles all coincide.
The next time Juno and Chariklo conjoin while retrograde does not occur until 2054, but this does not occur with Earth as it does now. This means that there is not an alignment of the Sun, Earth, Juno and Chariklo as there is now. Thus the Earth-Juno, the Earth-Chariklo and the Juno-Chariklo cycles do not coincide.
Juno, due to its retrograde, makes three geocentric conjunctions with Chariklo, with the first occurring just two hours after this New Moon. This conjunction lies under the auspices of Vega of Lyra and conjoins Ascella (along with Nunki Albaldah, Omi and Xi) of Sagittarius, and Meridiana of Corona Australis.
Vega, the harp star, is the principal star of Lyra. The stars of Lyra express through and contribute significantly to the essence of the latter part of sidereal Sagittarius. Lyra is the lyre invented by Hermes and passed on to his half brother Apollo. The Lyre's tuning and voice not only impart beauty, beneficence, eloquence, and sensibility to the Zen Archer, but also translate divine information into vibration that supports transmutational healing and the spiritual awakening of consciousness. The stars of Lyra embody various facets of the artsciences of harmonics in light, sound, color, and geometry, particularly the wisdom of those artsciences. They inspire a creative, artistic, eloquent and sensual application of the occult art sciences. More about the Lyre.
Ascella embodies the Archer's power of intent, the truth within from which he lives. Ascella and Nunki are where the pure intent and vision of the Zen Archer is transferred into the power and focus that drives and steers the archer's arrow. This is a place of applied power in sidereal Sagittarius. It articulates the combined qualities of vision and high ideals with the inherent force of intent applied with undaunted focus to achieve our goals.
You can pause the video and drag the progress bar to view any section of the video.
Several star qualities amalgamate around the Zen Archer's hand holding the taunt arrow: Nunki (Sigma), Phi, Ascella (Zeta), Tau, Nu, and Xi of Sagittarius. This is the warrior's core energy in its full potential, drawn and ready to release, provoking action that is life supportive—hence Sag is the spiritual warrior. This location marks the central core essence of the Archer, a point of equipoise and balance. It impels us to align all of the light fibers of our being into a coherent whole and focus that totality in controlled action. These stars impart a capacity for intense, highly-intuitive, mental focus, which is calculative and precise, able to cut to the truth.
Vega, along with Ascella and the adjoining stars of the archer, impel us to bring forth a new ideal of awareness of self as the creative force in the world. They inspire us to make choices from and to intentionally create from this higher realm of self that is already full and radiantly expressive to bring about change in our lives, rather than from a place of lack, from what we are not or do not have. Creating from the fullness of higher self, from soul-level awareness, is to create that which is for our highest good and the expression of our greatest potential.
Corona Australis is a semi-circle of stars just under the Zen Archer. Considered an auspicious constellation, had been in existence since time immemorial. It is associated with the "Laurel Crown," a sign of victory, as worn by the Greek god Apollo—and hence the name Laureate. "It has also been referred to as the Crown of Sagittarius (Corona Sagittarii), originating from the outspreading sun's rays in crown like form shown around the Gandharvas, the Aryan celestial horses that are suggested to be the forerunners to the Centaurs." (Richard Hinckley Allen). The Gandharvas were all male and the mates of the all female Apsaras, both of a pure unadulterated nature. The Apsaras were akin to beautiful water or forest nymphs, and the Gandharvas were ethereal beings of the air, forests, and mountains known for their musical and mystical skills with the forces of nature. The Gandharvas were also stewards of Soma, the golden nectar or ambrosia of the gods. Thoth / Heremes is also associated with conjoining Lyra, Harp of the Angels, which embodies the healing artsciences of light, sound and geometry.
The Coronet Cluster in Corona Australis is an active star-forming region, like that of the Orion Nebula, but over three times closer to Earth. "This composite image shows the Coronet in X-rays from Chandra (purple) and infrared emission from Spitzer (orange, green, and cyan)." Image and Caption Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/CfA/J.Forbrich et al.; Infrared: NASA/SSC/CfA/IRAC GTO Team
Corona Australis embodies the wisdom of alchemy—of using natural forces to manifest a higher order or achieve a higher purpose, ideal or goal. This is an alchemical process, one initiated by evocation.
The second Juno-Chariklo conjunction occurs on July 3 during their retrogrades and at the time of the compounded Earth-Juno-Chariklo synod. The third conjunction occurs on October 13 as Chariklo completes her retrograde. Juno entered her shadow on February 12 and leaves it on November 15, just after she conjoins Pluto under the auspices of Lyra, harp of the angels, the lyre of Apollo. Thus, the entire energetic is active for most of 2017, a significant and interesting one for relationships of all types, especially for those with a covenant bond. Juno plays a rather prominent role in the discovery chart of Chariklo.
Another reason the Juno-Chariklo synthesis is significant is because it occurs amongst the stars of Sagittarius, the Centaurian Zen Archer. Here the emphasis is about the higher vision and ideals the Zen Archer lives for, and the pursuit for a greater unified awareness. Chariklo is certainly at home and empowered in such an energetic.
Exactly how the Juno-Chariklo synthesis will play out is certainly speculative on my part. Basing Chariklo's astrological influence on myth alone may be misleading, as there seems to be two Chariklos. One is the nymph from Mount Pelion, daughter of Apollo, who is Chiron's wife, and whom the asteroid is named after. The other is a nymph of Thebes in Boeotia, the wife of the Spartan, Everes, and who was a close friend of the goddess Athena. These are often confused, with the myth of the nymph of Thebes mistakenly being applied to the asteroid, and because the history of the nymph from Mount Pelion is rather obscure.
This New Moon and lunar cycle should begin to provide more insight into the nature of the Juno-Chariklo synthesis and into the astrological nature of Chariklo. Observing relationships and the nature of interpersonal relating throughout the Juno-Chariklo retrogrades, and throughout the remainder of 2017, may reveal much more.
Based upon Chariklo's orbital parameters and discovery, the Juno-Chariklo synthesis occurring in Sagittarius, and new cycle to emerge, may bring emphasis to the resonance we hold in our relations, including all types of relations, those intimate and personal to those of business and politics. This can impel a shift of attention from "I" verses "other," to the waveform between, from segregating and defining discrete entities and their opposing differences to the greater purpose they serve together and what they can create together. This certainly would be a welcomed change for international relations. It may impel us to establish a spatial resonance that is caring, nourishing and protective, a space that ensures the sanctity of relationships, acknowledging that all relationships are unique and have their own unique purposes despite appearances. Chariklo holds open a spiritual portal for relationships, the space for the manifestation of a pure spirit substance (her SGC perihelion). This synthesis may impel entirely new creative expressions in relationships, especially in the creation of vibrationally attuned environments and multi-media expressions that serve to elevate, heal and awaken human consciousness to a more unified awareness (Lyra-Sagittarius). It may impel the formation of new relationships, perhaps through mysterious, unexpected or seemingly magical or meant to be encounters. More importantly, it impels us to hold a resonance of non-judgemental unconditional acceptance in our relations, that can allow a deep cathartic healing to occur in our relationships, and in how we interrelate, so we can realize and manifest a greater unified conscious awareness.
To learn more about Chariklo, her orbital parameters, her discovery chart and Juno, her relationship with Chiron, and her commonality with Pholus, see the Chariklo section of the Centaurs.
Although Uranus made the final of its three conjunctions with Eris in the previous lunar cycle, and Jupiter, now retrograde, is moving away from its conjunction with Haumea and opposition to Uranus-Eris, this planetary dynamic and its significant catalytic influence is far from over. This overall energetic is comprised of several planetary forces all in significant geometric relationships to each other. The Saturn-Ixion conjunction, expressing in part as the tyrannical patriarch, creates a Yod with Haumea to Sedna, playing a significant role in provoking the reemergence of the feminine force on Earth to aid in the rebirth human consciousness. Saturn and Ixion have just recently entered sidereal Sagittarius, but both begin their retrogrades back into the intensity of Scorpio and over the sting of the Scorpion. The Centaur Chiron continues to ally in strength with Sedna, creating another Yod to Haumea, supporting a long healing and empowering journey of the feminine force on Earth to impel a new renaissance in consciousness. We are also in the midst of the Jupiter-Pluto square and the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, which continue over the months ahead. A climatic configuration occurs in September 2017, as Ceres creates a T-Square as Jupiter returns to conjoin Haumea opposite Eris, immediately followed with the third Jupiter-Uranus opposition. Uranus will also oppose Haumea two more times, in late 2017 and early 2018, and the Eris-Haumea opposition, which began in 2014, continues well into 2018. For more about all this see "Disclosure & Discovery: New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017."
Jupiter, now retrograde, has been in a tight orb to its second geocentric square with Pluto throughout the previous lunar cycle. The exact square occurs on March 30, just into the lunar cycle, and as the Moon conjoins Mars and Ceres in Aries. The first Jupiter-Pluto square occurred on November 24, 2016. The third square occurs on August 4, 2017, after Jupiter completes its retrograde. The three geocentric squares mark the transition into the last quarter of the 12.5-year Jupiter-Pluto cycle, which completes in 2020, along with the completions of the 20-year Jupiter-Saturn cycle and the Saturn-Pluto 34-year cycle. See "The 2020 Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto Synods with Ceres, Mars and Pallas"—all creating a significant "ending of an era."
Jupiter-Saturn cycles are one of the most powerful and influential in our solar system dynamics. The cycles of these two most massive planets in our solar system significantly interact and breathe with the Sun, synchronizing with solar cycles, which in turn drive climatic cycles. Jupiter's magnetic field creates a huge, intense and complex magnetosphere that is larger than the diameter of the Sun and envelops the orbit of Saturn.
Saturn demonstrates and validates by concretizing in form that which Jupiter expands to embrace. Jupiter expands and mobilizes what Saturn consolidates and solidifies. In so doing, these 20-year cycles influence the very breath of the Sun and subsequently life throughout our solar system. Jupiter-Saturn cycles are fundamental to growth. Jupiter tends to magnify the limitations Saturn imposes. Jupiter stimulates the expansion of new growth upon the established structures Saturn solidifies. Jupiter is ligamentous and muscular while Saturn is calciferous and structural.
The coincidence of the Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto synods create a fundamental reset in the progressive unfoldment of the Jupiter-Saturn cycles. The last time this occurred was in 1284-1285, although the synods were not as tight as they are in 2020.
The actual transition (heliocentric square) into the last quarter of the Jupiter-Pluto cycle also occurs on March 30, synchronistically at the time of our the second geocentric square, thus contributing to dynamic of this lunar cycle, with this lunar cycle not only engaging the last quarter of the Jupiter-Pluto cycle, but also impelling the time to initiate change in the context of the 12.5-year cycle, making this lunar cycle one of "decision making."
Our current Jupiter-Pluto cycle began November 23, 2007 in early sidereal Sagittarius.
Lunar Planner Excerpt about the Jupiter-Pluto cycle
The last Jupiter-Pluto cycle began in December of 1994 (along with tyrannical Ixion) in early sidereal Scorpio, in front the head of the Scorpio. Thus the theme of this new 13-year cycle in early sidereal Sag is dramatically different than the 1994 Jupiter-Pluto cycle; and thus, the next 13 years will be dramatically different than the last 13 years. Pluto becomes a revealer of truth in sidereal Sag. This cycle should bring a wide-sweeping movement to uncover the truth, to make visible that which has been hidden behind the scenes, especially regarding the use and abuse of power.
It is interesting to note that the recent (2008) financial crisis began just into the start of this cycle, which subsequently unleashed the exposure of covert fraudulent activity in the big business of financial institutions.
This cycle was also presented briefly in "The Synodic Cycles of Pluto, Ixion & Quaoar with Jupiter, Saturn, and Nessus: A Historical Timeline & Astrological Exploration 1982 - 2020."
More about the Jupiter-Pluto Square is below in the Jupiter Synod section occurring just after the Gibbous Moon.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativite vision with the original lunar theme. The Crescent Moon brings insight to see how the New Moon theme will express and the opportunity for growth it provides.
The Crescent Moon occurs on March 31 conjoining Sedna, just across the cusp of sidereal Taurus and conjoining Algol and the Gorgoneas of Perseus.
Sedna, orbiting the Sun at an extreme distance, in the coldest known region of our solar system, was discovered in November of 2003. The planetoid (2003 VB12), was named Sedna for an Inuit goddess who lives at the bottom of the frigid Arctic ocean. Sedna is about one-quarter to three-eighths the size of the planet Pluto; and has an extreme elliptical orbit. Cold and removed, Sedna, approaches the Sun only briefly during her ~10,800-year solar orbit. Sedna curiously has a peculiar reddish color, like that of Mars.
Mythically, there are several versions of Sedna’s story. Basically, Inuit Sedna is a beautiful but vain maiden who is quite content living at home with her parents. She refuses several potential husbands but is finally coerced to marry by her father. She ends up marring an evil bird disguised as a man and is wisped away to a distant island for a life of misery. Her father comes to rescue Sedna, but on their way back in her father’s kayak the birdman attacks the kayak. In a vicious struggle and in fear of his life, Sedna’s father either inadvertently or deliberately pushes Sedna overboard into the frigid Arctic waters while severing her frozen fingers from clutching the boat. Sedna eventually drowns in dramatic scenario of deceit, betrayal and abandonment. Sedna becomes the goddess of the sea watching over the mammals of the oceans. Sedna has the head and torso of a woman and the tail of a fish—our mermaiden.
Sedna’s re-emergence suggests her purpose is to bring forth that which has been hidden, exiled, latent or suppressed; and specifically supporting the emergence of the long-suppressed feminine principle in the world; and the participation of females equally with males in all walks of life; prominently, openly and without fear, abuse, prejudice or exploitation. More about Sedna.
Early Taurus is of will power, strength, and stamina, of trusting our inner knowing, our inner heart’s light to build our lives and all that supports us in the physical world.
Algol is the head of slain Medusa held by Perseus. Of the Gorgons, Medusa represents the chaotic self-defeating forces within self, driven by fear. Perseus cannot look at Medusa directly lest he will turn to stone. He instead uses his shield to see her reflection. This mythically articulates our need to realize that the demons apparently outside of self are but a refection created by our own fear. It is our fear that freezes us in our tracks and is that which we must slay to claim our true personal power in the world. Algol can indicate an initiatory process is required or is at hand to claim our personal power, or be forever frozen in our tracks unable to claim our fulfillment and complete our greater purpose on Earth. Alignments with Algol can draw a relentless assault of experience that can block or divert us from our purpose until we slay our fear with demonstrable physical action.
In the southern heavens is Zaurak of Eridanus, a point of pause along the initiatory river of life where we must hold and trust our own inner light because the path immediately ahead is not entirely visible. Zaurak conjoins northern Segin, the last of the principal stars of Cassiopeia, which adds an opinionated and penetrating nature to late Aries / cuspal Taurus. Segin also imparts an embracing watchful perception, especially for eminent danger in threatening situations, and it impels one to become their own authority.
Our Sedna Crescent Moon impels us to become brave and confident to bring forth, express and act from the feminine power within self. This does not mean to use the feminine power over or instead of the awry masculine force, but to bring the pure latent feminine aspect of self into equality with the pure masculine aspect of self, to unite and elevate the yin and yang into one mobilizing life force—to become whole.
Our Crescent Moon also activates the Sedna-Chiron Yod to Haumea, with Eris being the mid-point between Chiron and Sedona (Eris opposite Haumea). This impels Eris, disrupting the status quo by exposing the truth, to manifest Haumea, a rebirth or reformation of human consciousness, one that functions with integrity to ensure the safe evolution and ascension of souls (Haumea-Spica/Archturus).
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, the New Moon through the Full Moon is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter and Pluto Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation. You can also incorporate additional planetary audios based on personal transits, and especially when there a lunar triggers. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on April 3 in sidereal Gemini opposite the Juno-Chariklo conjunction, thus forming a T-square with the Sun in Pisces (conjoining Alderamin of Cepheus and Alpheratz of Andromeda).
The Moon prominently conjoins Sirius of Canis Major and Canopus of Argo Navis. Sirius, Alpha Canis Major, is the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher and knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom. Significant alignments with Sirius can bring teachings, lessons, or events of a global or profound proportion, those that can catalyze tremendous evolutionary change. Sirius inspires a quest for liberty and human rights. Although Sirius is not at all of a malevolent nature, for a younger soul (or nation) can express as a headstrong and authoritarian nature, imparting the need to learn to set things free so they can take their own evolutionary course rather than forcefully manipulating a scenario or the experience of others, thinking we know what is right for another or that we are responsible to define another's life experience through righteous imposition—a miss-placed sense of responsibility. Here lies the need to learn about boundaries and to guide but release our offspring, siblings, partners, or creations to their own destinies. Expressing through sidereal Gemini, Sirius' influence is often experienced in the world of international relations, commerce and through high intensity intellectual communication.
Conjoining Sirius from the southern heavens is Canopus, Alpha Carina of Argo Navis, lying along the galactic plane. Argo Navis classically is the ship in the story of Jason and the Argonauts, a derivation of the older Sumerian story, Gilgamesh and his fifty Sirian warriors. The Argo lies reverse in the heavens, stern to the east, bow to the west, along the galactic equator, thus associated with that which moves retrograde in the heavens, the greater precessional process on Earth, the evolutionary cycle of the soul. The stars of the Argo are generally associated with evolutionary matters for the entire planetary system, and for all souls evolutionary growth and fulfillment.
Canopus is the second brightest star in the heavens after Sirius. Sirius is relatively close to us estimated at 8.6 light years. Canopus, of another galactic sector altogether, is estimated to be about 312 light years distant. Canopus is a supergiant star, estimated to be about 65 times the diameter of our Sun and about 15,000 times as bright, where as Sirius is only about 23 times as bright. Sirius appears brighter only because it is much closer than Canopus.
As director / navigator of the Argo, Canopus brings attention to our responsibility to steer our evolutionary course and to see to the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all souls and all life on Earth. Canopus also brings awareness to the repercussions of global events and how they affect the greater surrounding cosmology. An older derivation of Canopus is the Egyptian Kahi Nub, meaning "Golden Earth"—representative of the vision held for our beloved Earth by this helmsman, a Golden Earth meaning an illumined soul-awakened world. Prominent alignments with Sirius and Canopus can herald potent global experience that serves us to change and grow, or that alter our evolutionary course. These stars bring attention to more comprehensive matters and concerns regarding the overall evolutionary plan for the entire world. They bring attention to issues about global governance and dominance.
Our First Quarter Moon stimulates responsible action to navigate and steer our own evolutionary course. It brings emphasis to business, commerce, interpersonal communication and international affairs. It may also bring attention to evolutionary events occurring in the world and our responsibility to use our personal pursuits to direct the course of our world, without dictating what is right for others or interfering in the free will of others.
Our First Quarter Moon brings perspective to our relations and our need to establish a harmonious resonance within our relationships that serves the freedom of what is bound, exploited or suppressed, especially regarding the dispensation and use of financial resources, the wealth of the world.
Saturn beings its retrograde on April 6 (April 5 MST) in early sidereal Sagittarius, along with Ixion, Pholus and Quaoar. Saturn and Ixion will retrograde back into late sidereal Scorpio and over the sting of the Scorpion. Saturn will make its second conjunction with Ixion on June 4. Saturn continues its retrograde to when it stations on August 25 conjoining the right leg of Ophiuchus. It will then make its final conjunction with Ixion on October 29, still conjoining the sting of the Scorpion, after which it fully enter the star field of Sagittarius.
The Saturn-Ixion synthesis began January of 2017, and it plays a key role in the Uranus-Eris opposition to Jupiter-Huamea alignment with Chiron and Sedna. More about Saturn-Ixion's role was presented in the February 26, 2017 Lunar Planner. The retrogrades occurring now, and Saturn's return into Scorpio accentuate emotional tension again, with emphasis upon the use of power by tyrannical patriarchal forces, but now along with an opportunity for those forces to change and grow, but also with harsh lessons. The intensity of this opportunity for growth will play out through the remainder of this year. Keep in mind that the Saturn-Ixion synthesis and its externalization in the world and in our lives is playing a part in a much bigger picture, much like a petty tyrant would provide stimulus for the heroes in a mythical movie.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, the day leading into the Saturn station is an ideal time to work with the Saturn Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
The Gibbous Moon of April 7 conjoining the North Lunar Node in sidereal Leo, opposite the Dwarf Planet 2007 OR10 conjoining the South Lunar Node. This axis also is incunjunct to the Makemake-Pallas opposition, bringing emphasis to social justice and the administration of resources by those seeking, or who are in, positions of authority or dominance. The Moon conjoins Al Kaphara of Ursa Major, and Alpha and Gamma of Sextans.
Al Kaphrah of Ursa Major extends from Megrez and Phecda, and the hind legs of the Great Bear extend from Al Kaphrah, to the hind feet of the Bear, Alula Borealis and Alula Australis, and Tania Borealis and Tana Australis. Al Kaphrah imparts a long-standing and established power, expressed as an assertive and powerful creative force applied to steer and protect. It is of stability, enduring strength and established authority. Al Kaphrah also impels the balanced distribution or delegation of power and authority.
South of the Lion is the Sextant. The primary stars are Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Sextans. The sextant is a navigational instrument used to determine the vertical position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon to determine one's position. The Sextant’s stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.
On a basic level this can be in regard to changing our fundamental approach or path in life. On a greater scale, this can be in regard to changing allegiance of our energies from the outer world, self-sacrificing to diversionary forces or currents in the world around us, to the vertical integrity of our inner soul / source directive and truth.
Much like sailing, changing winds require the application of personal will to change the boat's tack to continue toward our longer-term destination. This requires the assessment of our current position and heading, and of the changing conditions around us—the weather, waves, winds and currents—to responsibly set a new tack along our journeys in life.
Our Gibbous Moon brings our attention to global leadership and to the delegation of authority. It brings emphasis to changing evolutionary currents and our responsibility to reassess and adjust our approaches in life accordingly. It also emphasizes personal autonomy and confidence in self to direct our own lives rather than buying into the delusions of, or propaganda circulating in, mass consciousness.
The Sun, Earth and Jupiter align just after the Gibbous Moon, also on April 7, initiating the new Earth-Jupiter 399-day synodic cycle. This alignment forms a T-square to Pluto, which brings emphasis to Pluto's role in the Jupiter-Pluto square and its expression.
Pluto, under the auspices of Lyra, now conjoins Deneb Al Okab (Zeta and Epsilon) of Aquila, the tail of the Eagle, and the intense Neutron Star, X-Ray Source SS433 in Aquila. It also conjoins the Starseed Ring Nebula M57 in Lyra. These entries impart an intense energetic acceleration of Pluto influence to deconstruct all that is ego driven, and they impel a deep probing into the occult and that which is obscure and even incomprehensible, to get to the fundamental truth.
Zeta Aquila, the principal star here, shines with the brightness of 39 of our suns and has an amazing rotational speed, 165 times the equatorial speed of our Sun—that is a rotational speed of about 16 hours. In character with the constellation, Zeta imparts a commanding character (in contrast to demanding), with the ability to rapidly respond to challenging situations.
SS433 Visualization by Rob Hynes Binary Software Louisiana State University, USA
Conjoining Zeta Aquila is SS433, an exotic and dynamic binary star system emitting twin-corkscrew shaped jets in wavelengths ranging from the optical to the X-ray. A companion star is feeding the collapsed neutron star's accretion disc (shown in the illustration). A neutron star is a super-dense nucleus of a collapsed (dead) star. A slight 20° misalignment of the planes of the binary orbit and the accretion disk causes the disc and its rapidly evolving jets to precess (wobble) over a 162.5-day period and over a large angle. The precession also causes the jets' expanding helical spray.
SS433's primary characteristic is that it produces a dynamic and rapidly evolving expression that extends over the entire light spectrum, thus embracing all aspects of life, from the most primal to the most spiritual. It also has a consuming aspect to it, consuming life itself without hesitancy and without prejudice or discrimination.
Both the qualities of rapidly rotating Deneb Al Okab (Zeta) and SS433 are fitting with the Eagle’s totem. The Eagle, a lone bird, has the ability to rapidly remove itself to vast distances and height to gain an embracing perceptual (global) awareness, and then to steer itself with amazing speed and grace to snatch its target. Both the wing tip and tail of the Eagle articulate the need to mobilize and steer our intent to achieve our higher aspirations.
This is also very near the location of Pluto’s south node, and it articulates the force behind Pluto's active expression in our lives. Pluto will cross its south node throught 2018. This is when Pluto crosses from north of to south of the ecliptic plane. Pluto's close approach to its node and its crossing intensifies Pluto's influence on Earth.
The Earth-Jupiter synod (90° degrees prior) resides in latter sidereal Virgo, conjoining Theta Virgo; Seginus and Murphid of Boötes; and Kraz, the claw of Corvus.
Seginus, the left shoulder of Boötes, the Virgin’s consort and protector, is of strength and responsibility. It along with the stars forming the upraised arm and hand, Gamma, Theta, Iota and Kappa, impel rebellious stance against manipulative or meddling totalitarian authorities attempting to interfere with the healthy birth and expression of soul consciousness on Earth. Seginus conjoins Muphrid, the left foot of Boötes, which impels confident non-hesitant action to provide personal and intimate support by making possible and ensuring proper energetic environments are created so that souls have the opportunity to birth, evolve and express in their highest potential and achieve evolutionary fulfillment.
Muphrid and Seginus lie over the lower spinal sacrum (sanctum) of the Virgin and the Virgin's womb, conjoining Theta Virgo, protecting the Virgin's principles, its purity, and that of gestation, birth, and life itself.
One of the brightest stellar explosions ever seen occurred in March of 2008—called a gamma-ray burst (GRB 080319B). It conjoined Seginus and Muphrid in Boötes, and was just south of Seginus. This explosion energized and emphasized the theme of Seginus of Boötes for humanity in 2008. Its is also interesting to note that this is the ecliptical longitude of Makemake's aphelion; and it was slightly later that year that began the avalanche of events catalyzing the restructuring of the financial banking arena and the exposure of massive fraudulent activity in that arena. This also began with the Uranus opposition to Makemake and Saturn starting in the latter half of 2008, with the Uranus-Makemake opposition continuing into early 2011. (This is also the location of Saturn (conjoined Juno) in the US July 4, 1776 chart, perhaps was/is a forewarning about the nation's tendency toward long standing clandestine banking/big-business relations.)
"Gamma-ray bursts are the Universe's most luminous explosions. Most occur when massive stars run out of fuel. As a star collapses, it creates a black hole or neutron star that, through processes not fully understood, drives powerful gas jets outward. As the jets shoot into space, they strike gas previously shed by the star and heat it, thereby generating bright afterglows. The jets of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) were aimed almost directly at the Earth, at almost the speed of light. This burst was so intense that, despite happening halfway across the Universe, it could have been seen briefly with the unaided eye." (ESO 08/08)
This new Jupiter 399-day cycle brings attention to our personal attunement to our environment and accentuates environmental concerns. It emphasizes the need to be astutely attentive to the natural world and to respond upon the messages expressing through the natural world. Our environmental attunement is essential to know how to support and facilitate a new birth in consciousness and a new world paradigm. Participating as if things are going to continue in the same way will result in wasted efforts and worse yet will leave us evolving lives based upon infrastructures that may no longer exist in the near future. Jupiter will magnify our acquiescence to a modality of life based upon an antiquated system of unconscious consumption, continuing to rape and manipulate our natural resources, and our need to create a new sustainabile modality of living that supports all life and that will lead to a healthy, prosperous and enlightened human race. This, along with Pluto, is a signifcant part of the energetic set as we enter the last quarter of the Jupiter-Pluto Square, which continues into 2020.
Jupiter completes its retrograde in June 9, 2017, when this new cycle will fully engage. Jupiter will then make is final geocentric square with Pluto on August 4, and then return for its climatic conjunction with Haumea in opposition to Eris and Uranus, during the Ceres T-square in September. All of this is graphically visible in the 2017 Annual Graphic Ephemeris.
The Jupiter-Pluto square is especially active from the Gibbous Moon to the Full Moon of April 11 (Apr 10 MST), as the Sun squares Pluto on April 8-9 just after the Jupiter synod, and the pre-full Moon conjoins Jupiter and squares Pluto on April 10.

Mercury begins its retrograde on April 9 in early sidereal Aries conjoining Mesarthim and Sheratan of the Ram's head. Mercury will retrograde back across the Aries cusp where it will conjoin Eris and Uranus, conjoining the stars of the upright fish of Pisces (in opposition to Haumea), when it stations on May 3, completing its retrograde.
Mercury retrogrades provide opportunity to redefine all that is logistical and methodical within ourselves and in our lives, including how we think, along with all forms of communication. This is a wonderful time for evolving our communication skills or for clearing issues we may hold within ourselves that distort our highest expression in life. They are also a great time for writing, evolving plans, negotiating, and the like.
Mercury harmonics work with logistical thinking, speech, communication, and all neurological processes. Mercury’s corresponding bio-energy centre is the throat / thyroid, the chakra of self-expression (also the seat of suppressed anger), with a neurological tie-in to the liver (our center of strength and endurance), and to the calf muscles, esp. of the right leg (our ability to act, to step forward).
Evolved Mercurial qualities express in creative, coherent and intelligent expression. This is our will to live and speak our truth in confidence, clarity and appropriateness. Mercury provides ability for mental focus and concentration, even telepathy and telekinesis. Mercury’s resonance defines learning and reasoning abilities, language skills, and some motor skills associated with coordination and dexterity.
Mercury's retrograde in this area of Aries brings opportunity to reassess our pursuits for personal attainment, and how we think about and communicate our desires for accomplishment in our lives. It also impels us to reassess what may have been quick decisions or assumptions made without taking the time for more thorough investigation. Mercury's retrograde completion conjoining Uranus will impel us to then re-express our uniqueness more genuinely, or in new or more progressive ways.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, the day leading into the Mercury station is an ideal time to work with the Mercury Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation. You can also incorporate additional planetary audios based on personal transits, and especially when there a lunar triggers. The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some
is a New World for those who realize it is.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon occurs in late sidereal Leo on April 11 (April 10 MST). The pre-full Moon conjoins Jupiter and squares Pluto on April 10, triggering the Jupiter-Pluto square. The Sun is just two days (~2°) to its conjunction with Eris, immediately followed with its opposition to Haumea and conjunction with Uranus. The Full Moon nests between Jupiter and Haumea. All of this energizes and brings emphasis to the Jupiter-Pluto Square, and to the Uranus-Eris opposition to Haumea.
The Full Moon, lying just before Spica and Archturus, prominently conjoins Eta Carinae of Argo Navis.
Eta Carinae enters the ecliptic in late sidereal Virgo and due to its massive and extremely active nature, it significantly and prominently influences the latter part of Virgo; the womb (inner sanctum) of the Virgin, and the themes of Spica and Archturus and of Muphrid and Seginus; and the Virgo-Libra cusp.
Eta Carinae is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy—estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. A gas shell surrounding Eta extends 4000 times the size of our solar system. Eta is highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts. Eta was seen to erupt in 1840 A.D., then making it the second brightest star in the sky. Eta recently doubled its X-ray emissions in a four-month period sometime between 1992 to 1994, indicating an intensified influence of the Eta Carinae theme. Eta then doubled in brightness in 1998—perhaps Eta's warnings. Current observations indicate that Eta Carinae remains highly unstable and may explode as a supernova at any time!

Eta Carinae, Lord of the Waves, the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god and founder of the city Eridhu (Eridu) (he who warned Zuisudra, the Sumerian Noah, about the flood), is generally considered the foreteller of impending catastrophic change, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Eta is also associated with the Sirian amphibious fish-man "Oannes," (the priest/sage of Ea in the temple of Eridhu) who taught the Chaldaeans both esoteric science and that which would civilize/humanize their lives; e.g., how to build cities and temples, understanding geometrical principles, creating civilized laws, and agricultural sustenance. (Robert Temple, "The Sirius Mystery") Eta embodies the esoteric Gnostic wisdom behind what to most is merely the mystery of life or unfathomable acts of God. Mythically, "Oannes is the emblem of priestly, esoteric wisdom; he comes out from the sea, because the 'great deep', the water, typifies the secret doctrine." (Blavatsky, "Isis Unveiled")
1) Archeologists suspect the Mesopotamian city of Eridu was occupied between about 5000 and 2000 BCE (currently called Tell Abu Shahrain). Eridu is 7 miles south of the ruins of the ancient city of Ur (near Nasiriyah in Iraq). Nasiriyah is on the Euphrates about 225 miles (370 km) southeast of Baghdad. According to Sumerian scribes, Eridu was the oldest city in the world, where "kingship first came from heaven" (referring to Enki).
2) The Secret Doctrine, originally published as 2 volumes in 1888, is Madame Blavatsky's magnum opus. It covers the creation of the universe, the evolution of humankind, and the primordial tradition underlying the various religions, mythologies and philosophies of the world...."

Due to Eta's strong X-ray spectrum and galactic equatorial orientation, it expresses significantly at the soul level—stimulating an awakening on Earth to our greater purpose as sentient souls responsible for Earth's safe evolutionary outcome. As a part of Argo Navis and the Argo's keel, Eta is of navigational matters regarding the evolution of the entire soul collective on Earth.
Eta Carinae's impending Super Nova explosion, is a portent of evolutionary change and impels environmental preparation for such change. It also indicates that something with far greater potential and magnitude can and will birth through the human form—a far greater expression of consciousness. Eta stimulates our need to prepare for and to become capable of this greater expression of consciousness, to create an inner bio-logical environment that is capable of a higher expression of consciousness as well as one that can support such a birth through the corporeal form.
Our Full Moon culminates and brings realization to the essence of our Piscean, Algenib, Venus retrograde lunar cycle. It makes visible the importance of clearing our psychic webs, refining the resonance of our hearts, clarifying our values, and creating the space in our relations, (those personal and those international) for what is of true importance, which should be clear by now. Human's petty antics of discord and conflict, power struggles of dominance and control that destroy life and resources, will leave us unprepared for the greater changes at hand. A new consciousness emerging on Earth, graduation into a greater light of universal awareness, means little tolerance for such emotional immaturity. For those who can hear nature's call and see the message of the stars, a rebirth is at hand, no baggage allowed.
The Sun conjoins Eris, opposes Haumea, and conjoins Uranus on April 12 through April 14. The conjunctions mark the mid-point in the current Earth-Eris-Uranus annual cycle, bringing realization about the nature of the creative forces of Eris and Uranus that are impelling radical change in our lives. The Sun's opposition to Haumea conjoining Spica and Archturus begins a new annual cycle, impelling us to birth a new express of consciousness that ensures the opportunity for our evolutionary fulfillment. Vesta, asteroid of focus, dedication and commitment, creates its final T-Square to this planetary alignment at the same time, impelling a new expression of clarity in our lives. Our Full Moon and the days immediately following may be revelatory.
The Sun enters sidereal Aries on April 15 (April 14 MST), under the stars forming the upright fish of Pisces, bringing emphasis to our need to rise from the tumultuous currents of the past and to become more that we have been, individually and collectively.
The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on April 15 in mid-sidereal Scorpio, conjoining Antares, Heart of the Scorpion.
Antares is one of the "Four Royal Architects" along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Fomalhaut, each in their respective quadrants of the sky. Antares, the 15th brightest star, is about 700 times the size of our Sun, and is one of the largest stars. It is quite elongated with a polar diameter about 63% of its equatorial diameter, red in color, said to rival Mars in brightness when they are seen together.
In classical astrology, Antares is the star of war and weaponry, and with expounded meaning, to challenge the established opposing politics (an arena common to the Antares / Aldebaran axis) with tenacious adamancy. This is especially in regard to taking a stand against the established conditions of our personal lives and against the established order or authority directing our lives when those conditions or that authority are no longer in our best interest nor supporting our evolutionary freedom and fulfillment.
However, it is only the less aware who mistake this power point in the ecliptic to mean fight against or destroy what one still perceives as opposing forces outside of self. Antares expresses as immanence for those who have embraced their initiations and claimed their self-empowerment, who have graduated from playing the victim in life to a predetermined fate, and who have learned to take responsibility for their experience and their destiny. The Heart of the Scorpion teaches us to realize the inseparable nature of life, to reconcile the forces within and without, those of life and death, to know of the oneness and inseparable permeability of the Creation Force—as is exemplified by Ophiuchus standing over Antares, articulating the higher octave of sidereal Scorpio. In this awareness, Antares becomes a responsible protector of life and "takes a stand" for wholeness, and demonstrably and passionately lives it.
Directly opposite Antares in the sidereal center of Taurus is Aldebaran, eye if the Bull. The Aldebaran / Antares axis is indicative of political systems, their people, their opposing politics, business and teaching. Aldebaran holds and radiates vision for ideal physical logistics for authorities to put in place so as to aid the peoples of the Earth through evolutionary process and transition. Antares ensures that the current and accepted business and political systems, and our modes of living do not become static or antiquated. Antares ensures growth, evolution and change. If the Scorpion meets those bullheaded and stuck in their antiquated modality of life, the Scorpion’s sting is not far off—hence its classical association with rebellious and destructive forces. Antares keeps the vision of Aldebaran up-to-date by challenging authoritarian powers. When there are rebellious or terrorizing forces assaulting the established order, this reflects the need to realize that the established order is no longer supportive in ways that are truly nourishing to the needs of the people, and requires some type of reform—reform that if denied, may result in some level of, otherwise unneeded, destruction. Thus, Antares can also be associated with teachers as well as political or business leaders who are of a more non-conforming nature that tend to challenge that which is established belief, doctrine, or policy.
From a transcendent perspective, Antares is the administrate seat directing the education of incarnate souls regarding application of raw creative power. Antares stimulates the use of raw creative forces and use of power so that we can learn what is required for our true incarnational freedom and to become responsible creators of it.
Although Antares defines the center of the sidereal sign of Scorpio, Antares lies about 4.5 degrees below the ecliptic, the body of the Scorpion swinging south, while Ophiuchus, the 13th ecliptical constellation, stands over the Scorpion, straddling Antares.
Ophiuchus is exemplar of one who has claimed mastery over the raw creative forces governing life and death. Ophiuchus articulates the process of bringing this interplay of forces to a greater spiritual fulfillment. Thus, in its lesser expression (or with afflicted aspects), Antares can express simply as the violent rebel or annoying contentious antagonist, while in its higher expression (or with empowering aspects), as one adept with knowledgeable authority, spiritual prowess, and astute awareness.
Ophiuchus and his staff are sometimes confused with the idea of immortality, of living forever. Consider that the ideas that we are immortal beings, or can achieve physical immortality, are self-important ideologies upheld by intellectual descriptions of reality and assertions defending those descriptions. Such concepts stretch us out in time, leaving us in an unempowered state of being, wasting the power in the present and our capacity to become fully aware of the infiniteness of our being. This often leaves us waiting for something outside of self to occur that will change our lives, or it leaves us living in illusory acquiescence that we have all the time in the world. This is why people sometimes put off the truly important until another day, and pursue trivial temporal pleasures instead. To relinquish our frozen perceptual view of the world as space unfolding through time is to become fluid enough to merge with and experience the inseparability of life and infiniteness of being in the now. This allows us to dissolve egoic self, where our focus is no longer about the needs of I, but where our focus is to become selfless, without self-importance upholding a world view and some idealistic mold of self. This is the mastery articulated by Ophiuchus, who teaches the Serpent within to rise to achieve the Northern Crown of immanent awareness beyond the dualistic deliberations and defenses that keep us entrapped in clutches of the Scorpion, in our karmic or past behavioral patterns. This is the transmutation Ophiuchus articulates, the higher octave of Scorpio, the inversion of an emotionally passionate externalized expression of Scorpio to one internally realized.
Our Disseminating Moon impels passionately driven action to demonstrate what we have learned in this rather potent lunar cycle. It may impel us to live in ways that support our own spiritual metamorphosis and physical self-mastery in the world. It may also impel an outward directed expression to take a stand to change antiquated structural systems, those in our lives and those in politics and business. How we participate in these efforts, whether as anarchist rebels or spiritually adept beings, is a function of our self-awareness and soul level maturity, but also about our heart resonance, if it is one based in fear or truth and compassion.
Venus completes her retrograde, also on April 15, just hours after the Disseminating Moon. Venus conjoins Chiron, impelling a catharsis of the heart, to begin to express the heart clarity we have gained throughout her retrograde, and to demonstrate greater heart coherency, compassion and receptivity to life. Venus now begins her journey under the auspice of the stars she conjoined while retrograde. She will return to her conjunction with Alpheratz, the head of Andromeda on May 20, 2017, where she began her retrograde. The time from when Venus completes her retrograde (on April 15) through the time when she returns to the location where she started her retrograde, conjoining Alpheratz, impels us to begin to demonstrate the changes we have made throughout the retrograde. More about the entire Venus Retrograde, and her conjunctions with Pallas and Chiron, can be found in the article "2017 Venus Retrograde & the New Venus 1.6-year Synodic Cycle".
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, the day leading into the Venus station is an ideal time to work with the Venus Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation.
The Moon enters sidereal Sagittarius on April 16, conjoining Ixion and Saturn, which just began their retrogrades, and also aspecting the Uranus-Eris opposition to Haumea, along with the Venus-Chiron conjunction, the Mars-Ceres-Sedna conjunction, and Vesta, asteroid of focus dedication and commitment, which is making its third square to, and forming a T-Square with, the Uranus-Eris-Haumea alignment. As the Moon continues is passage through Sagittarius, it conjoins Quaoar, Chariklo and Juno, and then triggers the Jupiter-Pluto Square as it conjoins Pluto on April 18—all creating another couple of catalytic days.
The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle’s last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on April 19 in early sidereal Capricorn. The Moon conjoins Alpha and Beta Indus; Eta Aquila; and Anser of northern Vulpecula.
Last Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
This first few degree area of sidereal Capricorn is of our personal motive and privacy. It is of esoteric knowledge as well as the secret places and orders associated with such, or merely places of our personal retreat and seclusion—but places strategic to our purpose. It is of all that is indigenous. It is of hermitages, exclusive retreats, or isolated places with a spiritual focus or specific purpose—including sacred sites or places of power under the care of their mysterious stewards. It is also of sacred architecture and geometry attune to resonances of the natural world.
Indus, classically the desert Persian, is the native indigenous person, much like the Native American, the Aboriginal, Desert Arab, Hawaian Kahuna, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Indus articulates the steward of a special place, a keeper of secret knowledge and sacred ways. This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, and passionate, of all that is indigenous. It can even be of fanaticism and obsession. Although seemingly driven from personal motive and privacy, it is often of those with a broad global vision and special interest. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery. Indus has a deep respect for the land, for life, and is intimately sensitive to a place's power and purpose.
Our Last Quarter Moon brings emphasis to our personal lives, to our places of retreat and seclusion, and to our relationship with the land. It may impel us to make changes to our living environments or in the ways we live that allow us to become more connected to Earth and to what is real and solid (in contrast the virtual or synthetic world), or to become more independent or that support our independent pursuits, whether for material gain, physical position or advantage, or for greater personal knowledge and understanding.
Global Mosaic of Pluto in True Color - Image by NASA New Horizons Spacecraft
Pluto begins its retrograde on April 20, as the Sun and retrograde Mercury conjoin. Pluto remains retrograde until September 28, after the final Jupiter-Pluto square, which occurs on August 4. Pluto's retrogrades are an ideal time to explore our unconscious patterns of behavior, to clear out and cleanse that which is no longer of value or that impede ourselves from moving forward or living the lives we want. It is an ideal time for regenerating and rejuvenation, especially through nutritional cleansing programs. It is an ideal time to let go of ego-driven attachments and beliefs. Here under the auspices of Lyra, it is especially favorable for letting go of that which restricts us from living our higher dreams and ideals. Looking at where transiting Pluto is your natal and/or relocated chart, and the aspects it makes to your natal planets and points, can give you a greater understanding of where in your life you are being asked to let go so as to make room for new things to become. Pluto transits are only difficult when we are unwilling to let go, to let things come to their natural end.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on April 23 (April 22 MST) in sidereal Aquarius. The Moon conjoins Fum al Samakah (Beta Pisces), which is the mouth of the fish that reaches across the cusp of Pisces into Aquarius. It also conjoins Phi, Chi and Psi of Aquarius, part of the nourishing waters flowing from the Urn. From the north are Xi, Sigma and Rho of Pegasus, and in the southern heavens is Zeta of Sculptor.
Hydor, Lambda Aquarius, a fortuitous star, lies in and guides the stream of the flowing waters of the humanitarian waterbearer. Hydor simply means water. Phi, Chi and Psi Aquarius extend from Hydor, further dispersing the stream. All of these stars articulate and impel the dispersion or distribution of humanitarian or altruistic resources. The stream of Aquarius is of nourishment, of giving and bestowal. These stars bring inspiration to facilitate for others the ability to move into a greater flow or involvement in life, to make it possible for others to sculpt or cultivate lives that lead to the fulfillment of their pursuits.
Our Balsamic Moon coalesces into essence the experience of this lunar cycle, which becomes the seed to express anew into the following lunar cycle. It brings emphasis to the dispensation and flow of intellectual knowledge and resources, along with sensitivity to the needs of others to facilitate change and transformation for humanistic purposes. It impels us to have optimism for a prosperous future. It provides inspiration to rise from the ashes of the past and to move forward to cultivate the lives that lead to our fulfillment, perhaps into a greater flow or involvement in life. It impels faith in self and determination to attain our goals and to help others attain theirs.
The following New Moon occurs on April 26 in Aries, conjoining Caph, the benevolent hand of Queen Cassiopeia, and Alphirk of King Cepheus. More to come then.
