Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are—our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution.
The stars would not be in the heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
The purpose of the Lunar Planner is to learn to live in the experiential awareness of the present. Although the material below can provide philosophical context for your personal experience, the New Moon is the ideal time to experientially "tune in" to get your personalized lunar month's theme. Then, consciously participate with the changing Lunar Phase Characteristics in the unfoldment of that theme in your daily life using the Lunar Calendar and Lunar Planner Introduction (links at the bottom).
Synodic Cycles are created when two (or more) planets align in their orbits around the Sun. The synodic cycle theme, defined by the planets involved and the star alignments at the time, will unfold until the two planets align again, marking the completion of the synodic cycle and the beginning of the next one.
There are many synodic cycles with unique astrological themes occurring simultaneously, creating a harmonic symphony of creative unfoldment in consciousness. Synodic cycles can be thought of as longer-term underlying currents, much like the backdrop chorus of a symphony, providing the underlying astrological context guiding our evolution as a collective.
This May 25, 2017 New Moon lies under the auspices of Perseus. It is just approaching the Hyades, conjoining Hyadum1, which is one of the tempestuous areas of sidereal Taurus. Conjoining stars of Perseus include Menkib, Adid Aus, Zeta Persei and the X–Perseus Neutron Star, all of which form the right leg and foot of Perseus, and Adid Bor on his right arm. The New Moon also conjoins the Transcultural Planet 2007 TG422 and the Dwarf Planet candidate 2009 YE7.
Most know Perseus as the hero who slew Medusa, the Gorgon, and then freed Princess Andromeda from being devoured by Cetus (the Kraken). In the story of the Royal Family, Queen Cassiopeia's boastful arrogance that her daughter, princess Andromeda, was more beautiful than Poseidon's Nereids, the nymphs of the sea, peeved Poseidon, and as punishment, Poseidon sent Cetus the Sea Monster to ravage the shores of Ethiopia, which Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus ruled. The Oracle of Ammon advised King Cepheus that the only way to appease Poseidon was to sacrifice is daughter to Cetus. In acquiescence, the King had Andromeda chained to the cliff at the sea to be devoured by Cetus. Andromeda, although inheriting this unfortunate sentence, has a far greater and fortuitous destiny awaiting her. Perseus eventually kills Cetus and frees Andromeda. Perseus and Andromeda marry and they go on to create a city and rule a kingdom that bores the Persian world. Perseus, however, is much more that this, and has a story of his own. In the context of our New Moon and this lunar cycle, this story is one about self-development, self-mastery, and taking physical action in the world to conquer one's fears and to claim that mastery.
Perseus was born of immortal Zeus and the mortal princess Danae, whose father, King Acrisius of Argos, locked her in a dungeon in fear of a prophecy that if Danae bore a son, he would kill the King. Zeus enters the dungeon in a golden shower of light impregnating beautiful Danae. When King Acrisius finds Danae with her baby Perseus, he locks them in a wooden chest and puts it out to sea. The chest drifts to the island of Seriphos and is found by Dictys while fishing, the brother of the island's king, Polydectes. Dictys takes them in and raises Perseus to become a strong, honorable and intelligent man.
Polydectes had designs to marry Danae, but she refused and he would have by force if it had not been for Perseus protecting her. Thus, Polydectes devises a plan to get rid of Perseus coercing him on a diversionary mission to slay the Gorgon Medusa and to bring her head back to Polydectes, thinking that Perseus would never return.
During Perseus' long and arduous journey, Hermes, the winged-footed herald of the gods (Mercury) and Athena, who were also born of Zeus, visit Perseus. Perseus learns of his divine heritage. He also learns that the Gorgons have snakes for hair and that anyone looking directly at a gorgon would turn to stone. Hermes gives Perseus his winged sandals and explains how to find the Hesperides where he could learn of Medusa's den. Athena gives him her polished shield so he could use it to look at the reflection of Medusa rather than looking directly at her to avoid turning to stone.
Despite Polydectes' design to get rid of Perseus, in what becomes an initiatory journey, Perseus instead overcomes his fear and claims his personal power by beheading Medusa. Pegasus, the magical horse with wings (and Chrysaor) sprang from the neck of Medusa. Perseus befriends Pegasus and learns to fly upon Pegasus, demonstrating his capacity to rise above the tormenting emotional fear-based world, now confident in his self-mastery.

On his way back to Seriphos, Perseus stops in Ethiopia, the kingdom ruled by King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia, where he learns of Andromeda's entrapment. In one version of the story, he flies over Cetus upon Pegasus, in another using his winged sandals. Either way he has the head of slain Medusa in his hand (Algol at cuspal Taurus), which he reveals to Cetus. Seeing Medusa's head, Cetus turns to stone and shatters into the sea. He then frees Andromeda, returning her safely to the gracious appreciation of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia.
During his journey, he also accidentally kills his grandfather King Acrisius, fulfilling Acrisius's fate. Perseus also returns to protect his mother Danae from the forced marriage with Polydectes, the Seriphos king, to whom he also shows the head of Medusa. Polydectes turns to stone, and Perseus makes Dictys, now consort of his mother Danae, the new king of Seriphos.
Our New Moon, conjoining the right leg and foot of Perseus, impels audacious physical action in world of human affairs, perhaps even heroic. This Lunar cycle brings attention to our trials and tribulations. It impels us to create our future destiny with attention to our physical fulfillment and security, to the refinement of self, physically, emotionally, intuitively, and spiritually, especially through disciplines that cultivate inner development such as meditation, yoga, martial arts, health and nutrition. It impels expansion of self actualized in the physical world and in our roles or expressions in life.
Venus and Pallas make their conjunction separating in square from Pluto on May 26, just as they approach their conjunctions with Eris and Uranus opposite Haumea, which occurs over the several days following. This occurs leading into the Mars opposition to Saturn and Ixion, which occurs on the Crescent Moon, contributing to a multi-planet dynamic and intense configuration over the several days ahead. The Venus-Pallas synthesis inspires artistic creative resourcefulness to further greater social justice in what may be an intensification of conflict requiring solution only attainable by rising above any tendency for emotional reaction, and the implementation of a greater spiritually aware intelligence.
Mythological Pallas Athene is the goddess of Wisdom, born from the head (wisdom) of Zeus (Jupiter). Pallas was strong-willed and would act on her own knowledge and wisdom, and preferred artful diplomacy rather than conflict, but was ready to fight if need be. Pallas is commonly called both the Warrior Woman and the Peaceful General.
Pallas expresses the artful application of creative intelligence for solution beyond duality's paradox—from beyond the judgments of one side verses the other. Pallas invites the integration of our past experience in duality—from having been on both sides of the fence at one time or another, and to claim that experience as wisdom. She invites us to use that wisdom as a foundation to express nonjudgmental courageous solution beyond life's paradoxes created by opposing forces. Mature Pallas expresses from the balance of the masculine and feminine principles, from a unified awareness. She is applier and defender of social justice, and accepts personal responsibility for having co-created one's experience; i.e. the resolution of victim consciousness.
Pallas imparts the expression of intellect in craft and inventiveness, and an ability to link, unify and bring pieces together. She imparts wonderful perceptual and organizational skills and a capacity for pattern recognition, planning and public relations. Pallas often has a prominent placement in the charts of artists and political reformists.
Pallas issues can express as spiteful withdrawal, which ultimately can manifest as self-sabotage due to judgments about use of power or awry creative / sexual energy. It can also express as righteousness, judgment and invalidation of opposite or alternative views, lashing out with a vengeance. Pallas issues can express as an imbalance in the masculine and feminine aspects of self, such as sexual imbalances, dyslexic and perceptual problems. Pallas governs the liver / slpleen balance (red / violet), which is reflexed to the equilibrium and dizziness centre of the brain. Pallas can effect emotional and physical equilibrium.
The hours before the Crescent Moon provide a time when we relinquish patterns of the past that would limit our creative ability to expand on the lunar theme now unfolding. The Crescent Moon is the time when the sprouting seedling sloughs off its protective coat of the past and emerges in a new expression. As the Crescent Moon unfolds, the growing phase of the lunar cycle begins as we start to amalgamate our personal creativite vision with the original lunar theme. The Crescent Moon brings insight to see how the New Moon theme will express and the opportunity for growth it provides.
The Crescent Moon occurs on May 29 (May 28 MST) in late sidereal Gemini conjoining Pollux of the Gemini The Twins, Procyon and Gomeisa of Canis Minor, and Wezen of Canis Major.
Castor and Pollux are the two principal stars that mark the Twins' heads in the last few degrees of sidereal Gemini. The Twins stand upon the galactic equator at a 60° angle to the ecliptic plane, with the Feet of the Twins lying in earlier Gemini, upon the "Gate of Man". Thus, Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind—the theme of the Gate of Man. Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange. The Twins are of partnerships in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, linking and uniting through their daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.
Castor is the liaison in the world of daily human affairs, and is of partnerships and cooperation. Castor brings resources and people together that serve to get logistics accomplished in the world of business and commerce, whereas Pollux brings a greater awareness to the efforts of Castor, uniting individuals, groups and factions with concern for the greater evolutionary fulfillment of all parties. Pollux imparts more of an intuitive awareness, whereas Castor has more of an intellectual emphasis. Pollux imparts the quality of an ambassador, orator, and liaison, whereas Castor's role is applied more so in business and management of daily human affairs. Pollux portends success, eminence and renown.
Procyon of Canis Minor is the Babylonian “Kakkab Paldara,” which means “Star of the Crossing.” It is one of the five stars creating the “Egyptian X” with Betelgeuse of Orion, Naos of the Argo, Phaet of Columba the Dove, and with the center star Sirius—the Great World Teacher. In classic astrology, Procyon portends wealth, renown, and good fortune. Conjoining Pollux of Gemini (the ambassador), Procyon inspires our allegiance to a greater cause, purpose, or faction. Procyon inspires us to ally with another or with a group to achieve a greater purpose than we could achieve alone. The desert Arabs knew Sirius and Procyon as “Al Ahawat al Suhail”—the (radiant, glorious, and beautiful) sisters of Canopus: thus recognizing all three to be associated with the fulfillment of souls' greater evolutionary purpose. Procyon lies just across the cusp of Cancer. Gomeisa is assistant to Procyon, which lies just before the cusp. Gomeisa can indicate those with special expertise in the area of negotiation and communication, sometimes those that assist such efforts behind the scenes.
Aludra, Wezen, and Adhara lie under latter sidereal Gemini and early Cancer, and create the hindquarter of the Canis Major. Although of this Sirian constellation, Aludra and Wezen are of their own class. They lie much further in distance than the other stars thus being of their own realm. Aludra served Hipparchus to make his famous astronomical reckoning about the precession of the equinoxes. Aludra is also the only star of the constellation that lies across the Gemini-Cancer cusp. Both stars are more associated with cuspal and early Cancer, and the themes of Pollux and Procyon. Wezen marks an opening or doorway, and impels a welcoming of diverse groups or parties of unique of different origin to work together for a greater cause.
Our Crescent Moon brings emphasis to people and groups of a diverse interest and heritage, including races not native to Earth. It brings emphasis to public relations and negotiations, and to ambassadors and liaisons. In brings inspiration to link individuals or groups together in larger groups or organizations for concerted action that can serve a purpose far greater than the separate parties can accomplish alone. Here we find motivation for the coordination and exchange of information between individuals or separate groups, and the alliance of those parties for more encompassing ventures.
Matters about extraterrestrials, extraterrestrial communication, or matters of an extraterrestrial nature may also be of significance throughout this lunar cycle.
Mars makes its opposition to Ixion and Saturn (both retrograde and conjunct) also on the Crescent Moon. The Saturn-Ixion conjunction also aspects the Eris-Uranus opposition to Haumea, also aspecting Sedna. This creates yet another set of triggers in this long-standing set of planetary aspects, presented throughout the previous monthly Lunar Planners. An overview is presented in the article Disclosure & Discovery, New Frontiers in Consciousness 2016-2017."
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, as the Moon conjoins Mars on May 26 is an ideal time to work with the Saturn, Mars and Uranus Bio-harmonic Audio Mediations in sequence. See this Month's Lunar Calendar for exact aspect times; or the "Lunar Cycle Timing Chart" found under the "Resources" menu on the Planetary Bio-Harmonics web page.
The Mars-Saturn opposition can be especially challenging. It may incite personal aggressive action or even overt anger-driven hostility against established tyrannical authoritarian powers in the world, or simply elements in our own lives that have been resistant to change. It can also lead to transformative realizations about persevering with disciplined action to effect required change in our lives, especially regarding pursuits we may have begun in mid-2016. This energetic amalgamates with that of our Pollux Crescent Moon. The need for arbitration or adjudication may be of issue.
Saturn and Ixion arrive to the mid-points of their retrogrades as the Sun, Earth, Saturn and Ixion align a bit later in the lunar cycle, on June 15 and 16, marking the start of the new compounded Saturn and Ixion synodic cycles. The two are just moving back into sidereal Scorpio after their brief entry into sidereal Sagittarius. Theses new cycles are defined by Lesath, the Sting of the Scorpion. The new cycles will fully engage as the two planets complete their retrogrades in early September. The Saturn and Ixion sustained conjunction began early in the year, and has been and will continue to be a key element aspecting the long standing Uranus-Eris opposition to Haumea, along with Sedna conjoining Algol on the cusp of Taurus and now making her full entry into Taurus.
Excerpts about the role of Saturn and Ixion, from the February 26, 2017 Solar Eclipse Lunar Planner.
Saturn and Ixion continue their conjunction, bringing emphasis to long-established karmic-based tyrannical authoritarian scenarios, generally involving people in strong leadership positions. At a soul level, the players in such scenarios are fulfilling underlying evolutionary energy currents that must be brought to resolution for humanity, despite what it may look like on the global stage of incarnate life.
Saturn and Ixion directly aspect and are currently a part of the Uranus-Eris / Jupiter-Haumea opposition and the dramatic events occurring in the world that it has been and will continue to catalyze. Sedna is also a significant and long-standing player in this scenario, also directly aspecting the Uranus-Eris / Jupiter-Haumea opposition, and the Saturn-Ixion conjunction.
Sedna, a distant transcultural planet, is a very slow mover, with an orbital period of ~11,000 years, about one half of and resonant to Earth's Precessional Great Year. Sedna is at a very key transition point in her journey (over these few years), making passage out from the stars of Aries and into those of Taurus, under the initiations of Algol of Perseus (presented in more detail below). Overall, there are three very principle feminine forces active here, Eris, Haumea and Sedna.
Sedna delineates the re-emergence of the exiled, latent and long-suppressed feminine principle in the world, and the subsequent participation of females equally with males in all walks of life, prominently, openly and without fear, abuse, prejudice or exploitation. The resolution of issues, ingrained in the genetic patterning transcending the formation of modern-day culture are also a part of Sedna's re-emergence from the cold distant past. More about Sedna.
Sedna's cycle of many thousands of years articulates why the suppression of the matriarchal, the feminine principle, and associated issues, are deeply engrained at a genetic level for all of humanity, transcending race, creed, gender and culture. The healing and reemergence of a healthy and radiant feminine force on Earth is something that all people, both male and female, must deal with. This is why I call Sedna one of the Transcultural Planets.
You can pause the video and drag the progress bar to view any section of the video.
This (Saturn-Ixion) synthesis and its role in this overall planetary geometry became active and dominant at the start of this year and will continue throughout the year. Saturn and Ixion made the first of their three geocentric conjunctions at the time of the lunar eclipse occurring in the previous (January) lunar cycle. This is a significant dynamic in this entire planetary geometry, one that brings forth an intense karmic responsibility of those in positions of power in the world, and regarding the exploitation and suppression of the feminine principle. More about Ixion. Despite what it may look like upon the global stage, those exemplifying the Saturn-Ixion theme, at this time, are serving as a catalytic force to spur the re-emergence of the feminine force in the world, specifically regarding Sedna's transition across the Taurian cusp, and issues she must face confronting Algol.
An Excerpt about all the overall transition of Saturn from Scorpio into the star field of Sagittarius, from the January 28, 2017 Lunar Planner.
Saturn had been making passage through the stars of Ophiuchus and over those of the Scorpion for the last few years. It had been in sidereal Scorpio since late 2014, a difficult energetic in some regard, one about confronting issues about the use of power as well as impelling us to own and become responsible for our own use of power—to grow, heal, transform, and mature in this way. At the same time, it brought emphasis upon the long established bureaucracies' tendency to control the use of resources and the power of others. All of this aroused deep-seated emotional issues for many people, bringing emphasis to the need to face and address those issues and our reactive tendencies driven from a primal fear of survival. As Saturn makes passage through the star field of Sagittarius over the next few years, it impels us to commit to a higher calling, to manifest and concretize our higher ideals and a greater galactic or unified awareness. On the other hand, established bureaucracies may (most likely will) attempt to control the pursuit for such greater freedom. But this is like trying to control a stallion that was born to be wild. The Centaur reaches for the stars and will not be bound. This however also impels us to evolve our bureaucracies and societal structures to meet our higher ideals. Saturn makes its climatic arrival, along with Jupiter, to conjoin Pluto in late sidereal Sagittarius and under the Auspices of Aquila the Eagle in 2020. See The 2020 Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto Synods, With Ceres, Mars and Pallas.
The new Saturn and Ixion synodic cycles (those occurring with Earth) are 378 days and 366 days respectively. Thus, the cycles currently engaging over the Sting of the Scorpion continue well into 2018. It is also worthy to note that the Saturn and Ixion will begin a new 35-year cycle, also over the Sting of the Scorpion on July 4, 2017. The subsequent Earth-Saturn and Earth-Ixion annual cycles will occur amongst the higher-ideal stars of Sagittarius and the two will no longer be conjoining, although they will still nest within the theme of new Saturn-Ixion 35-year cycle defined by Lesath, the Sting, and conjoining stars. The next Saturn-Ixion cycle will occur in early Aquarius and under the auspices of the Wing of Cygnus, but not until 2052.
Saturn will make its full entry in Sagittarius in early November 2017, after completing its retrograde in late Scorpio on August 25. See the 2017 annual graphic ephemeris.
The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter. Our First Quarter Moon occurs on June 1 in mid-sidereal Leo as the Sun conjoins Aldebaran of Taurus opposite Antares of Scorpio—a stellar axis common to the big business of politics. Aldebaran impels leadership, to step forth in the midst of chaos (common to Hyades) that supports the general wellbeing of the people through evolutionary growth and change.
The Moon conjoins Zosma and Chort of Leo, Beta and Delta Sextans, Epsilon and Theta of Antilia, and Suhail Velorum of the sail of the Argo in the southern heavens. Overseeing are Alioth and Mizar of the Great Bear.
Mizar of the Great Bear, a predominant star of this area of the zodiak, articulates raw fiery energy that must express one way or another. Mizar must have a creative outlet, but for its proper expression, we must apply it with clear creative vision. Mizar brings attention to the use of our creative energies, our creative and destructive tendencies, and the fear to create lest it may result in destruction. Mizar, with averted alignments, is also known for catastrophic events. Mizar tends to express in a grand way, in character with showy and dramatic Leo. Mizar imparts a dynamic, action-oriented creative artistic expression.
Nearby Alioth is emphasizes the use of personal free will. Alignments with Alioth teach us that our personal actions can alter the evolutionary currents that create our destiny. Alioth imparts a creative force and impels the use of personal will for accomplishment. Alioth teaches incarnating souls the ramifications of the use of personal power and how it effects more than self and extends far beyond the punctual moment.
Zosma, Chort and Denebola are a triangle of stars that form the hind of the Lion, with Denbola marking the tail. Zosma marks the Lion's back and Chort marks the hip. Zosma and Chort can indicate inherited conditions or the passage or bestowal of honors, rewards or position attained through personal achievement on to younger generations, especially offspring. As a part of Leo, they impart a more self-focused quality, to sit back and enjoy the fruits of one's labor, or just simply to enjoy the pleasures of life. In the case of allowing complacency to set in, they can also manifest as emotional distress and agitation, often due to physical toxic congestion, which can also result in a depressed state of mind or view upon life, as well as chronic health conditions, generally of an abdominal and intestinal nature. This area of late Leo can also be of foul breezes, diversionary miss-information and smoke screens.
Just south of the Lion is the Sextant, a navigational instrument used to measure the vertical position (angular distance) of the sun, moon or stars from the horizon to determine one's position. The Sextant's stars reveals our need to reassess our position or situation, to reorient ourselves, and to take a new tack toward our goals in life with conscious consideration for the changing evolutionary winds and currents upon which we must navigate.
Suhail Velorum, a Supergiant star about 200 times the diameter of our Sun, impels us to attune to the transcendent or subtle energy currents that underlie the material world, those that support our greater incarnational sojourn. It invites us to steer our course through life with consideration for our long-term destinations rather than the diversionary dramatics and commotion common to the externalized world.
All of these stars create a diverse polarity of energy that set Leo's "back stage." This is a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, one that can stimulate dynamic creative expression, but one that can also be filled with diversionary commotion and grand spectacle. Thus discernment from a place in inner emotional and physical clarity is required to attune to the transcendent soul-level currents guiding our lives rather than defining our course based upon the diversionary and dramatic winds swirling about.
Our First Quarter Moon stimulates artistic creative action, whether for personal accomplishment or as generosity expressed toward others. It impels us to use our creative will to steer our destiny, but also to appreciate the beauty in life, to what we do have in our lives as we do so. It may impel action due to changing conditions, or an unexpected turn of events. Attentiveness to changing currents is important without becoming diverted by any dramatic whirlwinds occurring around us, while maintaining our sight on our longer-term goals. Attuning to subtler guiding currents can guide us in right action and in the right direction that is in harmony with accomplishing our greater pursuits in life.
The 24-hour period just before the Gibbous Moon is a time of perseverance, of pushing through in the midst of the action quarter of the lunar cycle. The Gibbous Moon is when the pressure releases and we enter the Pollinating Phase of the lunar cycle, which begins a social and communicative time of magnetic attraction.
The Gibbous Moon of June 5 lies in early sidereal Libra, but amongst the legs of the Virgin in the current rendering of the supine Vrigin. The Moon conjoins the Centaurus X-3 Neutron Star, Rho and Omi of the Centaur, the Theta Carina Star Cluster, and Izar of Bootes.
The Giant Nebula, NGC 3603 (conjoining Theta Carina). Thousands of sparkling young stars nestled within the giant nebula NGC 3603. This stellar "jewel box" is one of the most massive young star clusters in the Milky Way Galaxy. NGC 3603 is a prominent star-forming region in the Carina spiral arm of the Milky Way, about 20,000 light-years away. This image shows a young star cluster surrounded by a vast region of dust and gas. The image reveals stages in the life cycle of stars. The nebula was first discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1834. The image spans roughly 17 light-years. Image Credit: NASA, ESA, and the Hubble Heritage
Theta Carina lies slightly south of the Galactic Equator on the keel of the Argo, Theta emits a peculiar spectrum, showing it to be a silicon-rich star, a peculiar chemical anomaly. It has an estimated luminosity of about 22,000 times that of our Sun. Theta also has an obscure name, "Vathorz Posterior" (of Old Norse-Latin origin), which means "Succeeding One of the Waterline," referring to the Galactic Equator upon which the Argo sails. Theta Carina is the prominent member of the Theta Carina Star Cluster, a bright open cluster of about 60 stars. The Theta Carina Cluster is sometimes referred to as the Southern Pleiades due to its resemblance. Slightly north of Theta Carina, along the galactic equator, is a giant stellar nursery surrounding the nebula NGC 3603, one of most compact clusters of young, massive stars in our galaxy.
Theta Carina is a part of the Diamond Cross of Argo Navis, formed and headed by the prominent star Miaplacidus (Beta), along with Upsilon and Omega Carina. It, like the Southern Cross, does not have a central star in the center, thus forming a diamond more so than a cross. You must be south of 20° north latitude on Earth to see it. The Diamond forms the keel and hold of the Argo. Theta Carina and the Theta Carina Star Cluster are of secret knowledge, record keeping, scribing, and the articulation of intelligence regarding navigational matters and transcendent evolutionary currents of the soul. The stars of Carina's Diamond inspire us to find and ensure a harmonious environment in space and time (where to be when) for the pursuit of our life purpose and our greater evolutionary fulfillment and wellbeing.
Centaurus X-3, an X-ray emitting pulsar with a period of 4.84 seconds, lies exactly on the galactic equator above the Theta Carina Star Cluster, and about 1° north of NGC 3603. Cen X-3 adds to the theme of Theta Carina and contributes significantly to the theme of early sidereal Libra and the Diamond of the Argo.
Centaurus X-3 imparts a transcendent guiding neurological impulse that incites a natural attraction toward harmony and beauty that is life promoting at a deep meditative level of consciousness. Here we may find unique events or portals occurring in space and time that can change our evolutionary experience and destiny if we are willing to transcend logistical mind and function from deeper levels of awareness, much like lucid dreaming. Opportunities presented here allow us to walk away from the mundane, from what is established in our lives, from what seems to make sense to onlookers. They require a leap into the void with the knowing there are subtle but greater soul-level currents that can carry us to our fulfillment. Learning to move in intimate trust and harmony with these forces is a key dynamic of this part of the zodiak.
Also conjoining Centaurus X-3 are Rho and Omi Centaurus. Rho, Omi, Delta and Pi extend from Muhlifain and create the hind legs of the Centaur, which lie over and protect the secrets held in the Diamond of Carina. Muhlifain, the third brightest star of the Centaur, is of secrecy and protection, and indicates there is a double meaning, that one thing said exoterically reveals the opposite esoterically, or that one thing conceals another.
Conjoining Syrma is the Supernova SN 2007af, a recent and stunning revelation found "under the skirt of the Virgin" in The Purple Rose of Virgo, a barred spiral galaxy (slightly smaller than our Galaxy). The supernova is the bright object seen slightly below and to the right of the galaxy's centre. Image Cerdit: ESO PR Photo 16/07
Centaurus X-3 and Theta Carina also conjoin Izar (Epsilon) Bootes, at the waist or middle of Bootes. Izar impels us to become perfectly centered to take a leap of faith through a portal that can lead to a place of far greater beauty and fulfillment than we had known before.
I dub this part of sidereal Libra, the legs of the Virgin, from Spica at the cusp to mid-Libra as "Under the Skirt of the Virgin" to mythically articulate the long obscured secrets hidden within of this part of the zodiak. This area of sidereal Libra, Under the Skirt, deals with issues about intimacy, support, compatibility, and environmental harmony. It is about creating and ensuring harmonious environments, mutually compatible relations, and about the processes and procedures in our personal lives that support our psychophysiological (mental-emotional-physical) wellbeing—a healthy incarnate experience of life that leads to the illumination (ascension) of consciousness.
Environmental support is a key phrase here, this includes the environmental conditions of the Earth, of our personal living environments, and a harmonious environment (resonance) in our relations. Thus, art, intimacy and beauty are all of significance in creating a nurturing environmental resonance in our lives. Living at or traveling to the right locations at various times in our lives is also of importance—to be in proper (space-time) harmony.
Our Gibbous Moon turns our attention to esoteric matters, to secrets obscured or that which is hidden in plain sight. It also brings attention to elements of nature that can unlock the mind and body to experience the beauty of expanded consciousness and the inseparability of self with all of life, to walk through our inhibitions and the veils of the mundane world.
Ceres by DAWN
The Sun and Ceres conjoin just several hours after the Gibbous Moon and add to the theme of the Gibbous Moon. Lying in sidereal Taurus, they conjoin Kursa of Eridanus. Kursa (near Rigel of Orion) marks the beginning of Eridanus, the River of Life. Kursa is of new beginnings, new journeys, new involvements, and new legs of our lives that lead from the wars and trials of the past to the freedom of the future.
The Sun-Ceres conjunction marks the mid-point of vision and realization in the current Ceres synodic cycle that began on October 21, 2016 during Ceres' retrograde, and as Ceres was approaching it second conjunction with Uranus and Eris in early sidereal Aries. The synod conjoinined the stars of the upright fish of Pisces—in short, a theme about aspiring for greater nourishment in life. It was presented in the October 1, 2016 Lunar Planner. Ceres made its first conjunction with the Uranus and Eris in June of 2016, during the first Uranus-Eris conjunction. Ceres plays a significant role in the Uranus-Eris synthesis, which continues through September of 2017.
The Time of Global Change is at Hand.
What is the end of the World for some
is a New World for those who realize it is.
The Full Moon marks the culmination point in the lunar cycle, the climax, the point of excitement and celebration. The hours leading up to the Full Moon provide a time of "vision and enthusiasm." The time just after Full Moon is a one of "realization of the lunar month's theme," a time to kick back and relax, to allow our realizations to surface in consciousness.
This Full Moon occurs on June 9 in sidereal Scorpio and in the constellation of Ophiuchus. The Moon conjoins Sabik of Ophiuchus, the X-Ray Source V2107 and 1977 Nova in Ophiuchus, the V884 X-Ray eclipsing star in Scorpio, and Eta Ara and the Ara Black Hole, V821.
Sabik (Eta) is the second brightest star in Ophiuchus and is a binary star system, with one star rotating around the other in an 88-year cycle. Sabik, at the loincloth of Ophiuchus, reveals a powerfully transformative location in sidereal Scorpio, one offering a significant transmutational experience due to the alchemical intermixing of elements, often of a sexual, genetic, biological or botanical nature. Sabik is also of medicine, healing, medical research and the art-science of alchemy. Conjoining Sabik are a few stimulating entries, including the V2107 Nova of 1977 in Ophiuchus, and a dynamic X-ray eclipsing binary star in the tail of the Scorpion, 3U1700-37, one of the brightest identified X-ray sources.
Sabik of Ophiuchus, and surrounding entries, can stimulate involvements that lead to our greater bio-logical well-being and illumination—especially regarding transmutation of our experience and our human condition from a lower-order to a more refined state of being. This level of transmutation in our lives requires full unconditional acceptance and integration of our past experience, so the bio-energetic patterning we hold within can be inverted to re-express its compliment—thus allowing a new expression that subsequently draws new fulfilling experience. This process in esoteric science and physics is called time-reversal or phase-conjugation. In advanced healing and meditative techniques, this is a means of producing the opposite but properly phased cellular pattern or signature within self that cancels (actually fulfills) the existing pattern we embody. Generally, this is an all-or-nothing deal requiring our unconditional willingness to embrace the healing / transmuational process. The choice is ours.
Sabik also can simply indicate a threshold to cross or transition to make, generally regarding a change in our neurology, how we act, or in our capacity to take action to change and evolve.
Ara is the Altar of the Centaur. The mythical image here is of the Centaur placing Lupus the beast with conscious deliberation upon the Centaur's sacrificial altar. Lying between Eta and Zeta Ara is V821, an x-ray emitting and fluctuating binary star. This is a collapsed object (like a old neutron star) that accretes matter, and thus had been placed in the Black Hole model used by astronomers. Thus it is commonly called the Ara Black Hole. V821 accretes emotion for consummation in the Centaur's Pyre. Here we must place, with conscious deliberation, any long standing grief, guilt, anger, and any other emotion (especially self-judgment related) that we are holding upon the Altar of the Centaur for our transmutation. North from the Sting of the Scorpion drips the transmuting elixir (the often harsh lessons of life), upon the Altar. This act is essential to experience the actual neurological transmutation made possible here, and that leads to our greater self-mastery; the mastery over the creative and carnal forces of life exemplified by Ophiuchus, who stands over the Scorpion and this entire scene, and the wisdom from our experience articulated by Ras Alhague, the head of Ophiuchus. If we are not ready to surrender and relinquish our antiquated emotional baggage, we are held back or sidetracked, and continue to experience upsets, diversions and even traumatic and catastrophic events in our lives because we are not truly ready to step into a greater level of self-empowerment or take action that can truly change our lives.
Our Full Moon culminates and brings realization to the essence of our Perseus lunar cycle, to claiming our physical fulfillment, the refinement of self, physically, emotionally, intuitively, and spiritually, and to actualize that in the physical world and in our roles or expressions in life. It emphasizes that true change and true happiness happens from the inside out, that the real work is relinquishing antiquated molds of self and world views we uphold with emotional charge, whether of our own making or merely assumed to be ours, resulting in our true metamorphosis. Doing that which supports this refinement of self is of essence, employing whatever healing / transmutational approaches are right for you.

Jupiter also completes its retrograde on the Full Moon (June 9) in sidereal Virgo. Jupiter, playing a key role in the Uranus-Eris opposition to Haumea, now begins its journey back to its final conjunction with Haumea in opposition to Eris, and then to Uranus, which will occur in September 2017. Ceres, also a key player since the first Uranus-Eris conjunction occurring in June of 2016, creates a catalytic T-square to the Jupiter-Haumea opposition to Eris in the September climatic finale. Ceres has been and continues to raise issues about what is and what is not truly nourishing as we strive to make progressive and radical changes in our personal lives and in the world.
Jupiter's direct station also fully engages the new Earth-Jupiter synodic cycle that began on April 7, and that is a part of the Jupiter-Pluto square. Jupiter will make its final geocentric square with Pluto on August 4, as it heads toward is conjunction with Haumea. The Jupiter-Pluto square and the Jupiter synodic cycle were presented in the March 28, 2017 Lunar Planner.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, The few days leading into Jupiter's station is an ideal time to work with the Jupiter Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation. The hours leading up to the Disseminating Moon generally is an accelerated and busy time of last minute preparation that leads into the birth point in the lunar cycle, the time of bearing the fruit of the cycle, of claiming its gift, of living that which we have been learning.
The Disseminating Moon occurs on June 13 in mid-sidereal Capricorn. The Moon conjoins Tau, Upsilon, Psi and Omega of Capricorn. (Tau and Upsilon are on the goat's head. Psi and Omega mark the front cloven hoof of the Goat.), Gamma Sagitta, Gamma, Eta and Zeta of Microscopium, Delta and Epsilon of Indus, Alpha Tucana, and the Super Nova Remnant 1987A in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
This few degree area of Capricorn, at the cloven hoof of the Goat, imparts somewhat of an aggressive nature, highly focused on one's target. It impels investigative and detailed research. It is also of maintaining perfect equilibrium in agile movement.
Sagitta, the missile of Zeus, extends over the first decan of sidereal Capricorn, with its tip, Gamma Sagitta, of significance here. Sagitta embodies our strategic arsenal of tools—whether applied for war or peace—this includes our personal tools and expertise to accomplish our goals in the material world. The tip of the missile delineates high-speed pinpoint accuracy.
Microscopium, lying between Capricorn and Indus, articulates the detailed-minded and focused nature of this area of sidereal Capricorn. Gamma Sagitta, the tip of the missile, inspires direct application of our strategic tools. Alpha Microscopium articulates the importance of detailed and intelligent investigation, rather than assuming surface appearances reveal the truth, which is required for proper application of our strategic tools and our strategies in life. Both impart a highly detailed focus. These two stars also articulate our modern-day tools of war, such as laser-based satellites and missiles with pinpoint accuracy.
1987A The supernova explosion of Sanduleak's star. Image credit: Hubble.
On February 23, 1987, a star known as Sanduleak's star suddenly blew to bits in a spectacular supernova, now labeled SN1987A. We normally see a neutron star in the midst of a Super Nova Remnant. A neutron star is the dead remains of the original star made of neutrons compressed into an extraordinary density. In this case, perplexingly, it was non-existent—fitting to the theme at this zodiacal longitude, and the "Tip of Missile."
Our arsenal of tools, no matter what they are, must be applied with knowing the facts, with accuracy, and from a place of global vision, equilibrium and poise, as actions veiled in stupidity, based in fear, or by using blind brut force, can have damaging or utterly devastating ramifications.
Indus, classically the desert Persian, is the native indigenous person, much like the Native American, the Aboriginal, Desert Arab, Hawaian Kahuna, or the Mountain Shaman—sometimes ornately dressed or adorned, and sometimes totally inconspicuous and unassuming. Indus articulates the steward of a special place, a keeper of secret knowledge and sacred ways. This is the world of the shamanistic, the ceremonial, and passionate, of all that is indigenous. It can even be of fanaticism and obsession. Although seemingly driven from personal motive and privacy, it is often of those with a broad global vision and special interest. Either way, surface appearances, cloaks and facades often shroud who is who in an aura of mystery. Indus has a deep respect for the land, for life, and is intimately sensitive to a place's power and purpose.
Our Disseminating Moon brings emphasis to the symbiotic nature of our lives, especially the symbiosis of our lives and Earth, of our physical wellbeing and the land and environment, and of our consciousness and that of Earth's. It brings emphasis to issues of trust and impels us to trust in self and in life. It impels us to participate by trusting in the paths we have chosen and in the forces of nature guiding us. It impels focused attention based on knowledge gained from astute observation and on detailed research, rather than on assumed preconceptions or what may be miss-information, as the stakes may be high.
The Sun, Earth, Saturn and Ixion align on June 15 and 16, marking the start of the new compounded Earth-Saturn and Earth-Ixion synodic cycles. Material about this was presented above in the Mars opposite Saturn-Ixion section.
The Sun moves in to sidereal Gemini on June 15 (16 UT) as Neptune begins its retrograde on June 16 in sidereal Aquarius, and exactly as the Moon conjoins Neptune. These two days are significant. Pay attention to events, both personal and in the world, and to dreams, which can also be especially significant.
For those who have the Planetary Bio-Harmonic Audio Meditations, June 15 and 16 is an ideal time to work with the Saturn Bio-harmonic Audio Mediation. You can also incorporate additional planetary audios based on personal transits, and especially when there a lunar triggers. The Last Quarter Moon creates our "inner need to initiate change" in the lunar cycle as we move into the cycle's last and transitional quarter. Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on June 17 just into sidereal Pisces. The Moon lies under the Circlet of stars forming the head of the westward swimming fish. Conjoining stars include Theta, Iota and Lambda of the Circlet, Matar of Pegasus, the Nuclear Galaxy BL Lacerta in the northern heavens, and the Zetas of Reticuli in the southern heavens.
Last Quarter Moon - Sidereal Fagan-Bradley
The western fish of Pisces and the Circlet of stars marking its head articulate our primordial autonomic (sleeping) nature, and our unconsciously reactive participation in the cycle of mortal life. It is of our inherited genealogies that we are born into and the behavioral patterns they express.
Lying north of the circlet, slightly north of Markab and just into Pisces, is the star Matar, on the foreleg of Pegasus. Matar is from Al Sa'd al Matar, which means "the Fortunate Rain," and which delineates movement from high-mental and social activity of later sidereal Aquarius into the wet, sensual, emotional, psychic and amorphous world of sidereal Pisces. Further north is the Nuclear Galaxy BL Lacerta. BL Lacerta has a highly erratic and wild variability, radiating high-intensity emission lines from radio to gamma ray wavelengths, with a lack of strong emission lines in their optical spectra. Originally thought to be a star, it still has a variable star designation. The name BL Lacerta (or BL Lacs) is now a name used to delineate galaxies with this type of characteristic, named after their progenitor here in Lacerta.
Conjoining from the very southern heavens are the Zetas of Reticuli, two remote star systems disconnected from the main body of the Reticuli constellation. Beta Reticuli (entering late Aquarius), along with the Zetas, impel capacities and exploration into the science of genetics and psychic sciences for the advancement of conscious awareness, healing and biological development. This includes areas such as telepathy, remote viewing in both space and time, and other more advanced supernormal or extrasensory cognitive abilities.
Northern BL Lacerta and the southern Zeta stars of Reticuli, which conjoin at the Pisces cusp, tend to excite invisible primal psychic forces and higher mental, psychic and telepathic tendencies, but can also tend toward psychic manipulation, control, confusion and entrapment, which is common to the psychic realm of mind.
All of these entries impel involvement with or the research and development of advanced sciences, technologies and paranormal methodologies that integrate genetics and noetics to advance telesthetic capacities in the expression of our greater human potential.
Our Last Quarter Moon may arouse the need to make changes in our lives to ensure we are physically, emotionally and mentally clear and evolved for the expression and manifestation of our greatest potential. It may impel interest to cultivate higher mental or perceptual faculties, or to do what is required to clear psychic webs of confusion, perhaps taken on from past involvements.
The Last Quarter Moon T-Square with retrograde Saturn and Ixion bring emphasis to responsibility, specifically to resolve any undermining self-indulgent attitudes and to embrace the lessons of our life experience for our own inner metamorphosis, to become responsible for our own maturation.
The Moon, Pallas and Uranus conjoin on June 19 in early sidereal Aries. Uranus is also making a significant transition throughout this year. I was asked on the Lunar Planner Forum if I would write an article about Uranus' transition from sidereal Pisces into sidereal Aries. In lieu, my short reply:
Briefly, it should impel a healthy shift from emotionally-based reaction to progressive creative action for personal accomplishment. Its movement from the Piscean tumultuous waters onto the arid shores of fiery Aries imparts a much fresher energetic, one of optimism to break away from the emotional turmoil of the past, to rise from the patterns of the past. Its progressive creative force is set free in Aries rather than being oppressed or squelched as it has been due to emotional inhibition or psychic confusion. It should impel new ways of thinking and more creative spontaneity, but which can also be impulsive without follow through. It can also incite more explosive events and volitile behavior, but catalytic for revolutionary change. The recent (May 9, 2017) Mercury station (Merc completing its retrograde) conjoining Uranus on the cusp (conjoined Eris opp Haumea...) kicked this energetic off. However, Uranus begins its first retrograde in early Aries in August 2017, and the first new Earth-Uranus cycle begins on the New Moon of October 19, 2017, during the midst of its retrograde, but not to fully engage until early 2018, after Uranus completes its retrograde. Thus, we should feel/experience the engagement of this new energetic more so in 2018. This first cycle occurs under the auspices of the upright fish of Pisces, the stars of which express through the Aries cusp. This first cycle impels us to aspire to become more than what we have been, to radically break away from the strong currents of the past, those genetically inherited or those we may have taken on or bought into at a psychic level. As the years continue, there should be more impetus for personal independence, with people more aggressively challenging or rebelling against those in authoritarian rule. We may also see the advent of new discoveries and innovations that support greater personal independence. Also keep in mind we will be approaching the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto climax in 2020—a primary societal reset. Uranus will then be conjoining the head of the Ram and beginning its passage over the head of Cetus. The last time Uranus made its passage into sidereal Aries was in 1933.
June 19 may be a good day to get a feel for the trasnsition of Uranus into Aries, although keep in mind Pallas is in the mix.
The Balsamic Moon marks the time in the lunar cycle when we coalesce the experience of the lunar cycle into its seed essence, which will then sprout through the theme of the following lunar cycle. It is when we turn our attention from this lunar cycle in anticipation of the next to come. The hours before the Balsamic Moon provide our time of coalescence while those after mark the time when we turn 180° from looking back over the past cycle and look forward toward the next cycle to come.
The Balsamic Moon occurs on June 20 conjoining Venus in sidereal Aries. The Solstice occurs on June 21, 4:24:05 UT (June 20, 9:24:05 PM MST), just hours after the Venus-Balsamic Moon, marking the mid-point of summer in the northern hemisphere and winter's mid-point in the southern hemisphere. Conjoining stars include Menkar of Cetus, Almach of Andromeda, Tish of Cassiopeia, and Alpha Horologium.
Venus is the Roman name for the Greek Aphrodite, goddess of love, grace, beauty and sexual rapture. Venus has also been called the "jewel of the sky"; "Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus as the evening star"; from a modern day astronomer's view, "Earth's sister planet"; and from an astrologer's view, the "compliment to Mars."
Other cultural names for Venus include: the Babylonian Ishtar; the Syro-Palestinian goddess Ashtart; the Aztec: Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli (meaning "Lord of the House of Dawn."), an apparition of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent; the Maya: Kukulcan (Venus was the Mayan patron of warfare, with several battles coinciding with significant Venus alignments); and the Norse Sif, noted for her "conjugal fidelity."

This area of sidereal Aries is about Queen Cassiopeia, Princess Andromeda and Cetus. Here, Cetus is about to devour the princess and time is ticking away, a resolution must be found. It can often produce high-intensity righteous attitudes and adamant drama, which may require resolution through a process of surrender.
Cetus is the fear-instilling techno-bureaucratic monster of collective human consciousness. The body of Cetus lies submerged in sidereal Pisces, but its neck and head reach up upon the shores of Aries, with its head lying in mid-sidereal Aries. The head of Cetus articulates the intelligence of Cetus and is marked by two primary stars, Kaffaljidhma, the brain of Cetus, and Menkar, the jaws of Cetus.
Almach is princess Andromeda's snagged foot about to be bitten off by conjoining Menkar, the jaws of Cetus. Classically, Almach is considered an honorable and eminent star; and Andromeda is unadulterated, innocent, naive, uncorrupted by evil, wrongdoing or malice; and holds a position of extraordinary honor and advantage. Menkar, however, expresses as an entrapping force for those who are naïve, innocent, or passive, and who are often caught in the arrogant power plays of others.
The beautiful and nearly perfect shaped Andromeda Spiral Galaxy M31 is our largest nearby neighbor, a mer 2.5 million light yeas away. The disc spans about 260,00 light-years, compared to our own Milky Way Galaxy which spans about 100,000 light years across. The Andromeda Galaxy emulates the beauty we can become.
Cassiopeia, crusted with frustration due to finding herself unable to have that which she knows she is entitled, in between the tormenting forces of both the manipulative gods and the monstrous human world, and at loss with how to deal with either, becomes spitefully arrogant. It is Cassiopeia's spiteful arrogance that got her daughter Andromeda chained to the rocks to be devoured by Cetus to start with, as the queen was boasting that her daughter was more beautiful than the nymphs of sea. Fortunately or unfortunately as the case might be, when feeling trapped and we lash out against the world around us, the whip of arrogance (Tish, Gamma Cassiopeia) often snaps back to scar our own hand, especially when applied with vengeance. Lowering ourselves to this level or resourcefulness, using a tool found only in the dramatics of the monstrous world, will lead us only to our own demise. Here we have a statement of something we must surrender to receive that which we are due—righteous arrogance, the attitude that keeps us from our very own fulfillment.
Conjoining from the south is Alpha Horologium, the pendulum clock, which embodies the characteristic of impending time and brings our awareness to the fact that there is a finite period, with time ticking away, to do more than seems humanly possible. Seemingly, a miracle is required, and often time, at the last minute, one arrives—usually provided through cooperation with another party. However, we must be willing to release the pressure we are applying in attempt to free ourselves, as it really creates the tension that keeps us entrapped. Only then can we make our passage.
Our Balsamic Moon coalesces into essence the experience of this Perseus lunar cycle, which becomes the seed to express anew into the following lunar cycle. It brings attention to our attitudes about life. It presents the opportunity to pause and invert our perspective from being entrapped by forces or circumstances appearing to be outside of self, to recognizing that it is our fear-based attitudes that crystallize as righteous and adamant behavior leading us to feel that we must fight against the techno-bureaucratic monster of human collective consciousness. Doing so just pulls us deeper into the undertow of human collective consciousness, acquiescing to fear, judgment, shame and blame—that which Cetus feeds upon. Our Venus-Balsamic Moon invites us to relinquish such attitudes and to live from an open heart.
The conjunction of Venus and the Balsamic Moon is near exact, an ideal time to allow Luna to wash away all that covers pure heart, that which covers unconditional acceptance, unconditional receptivity to life, unconditional love.
The Venus-Balsamic Crescent Moon conjunction can be seen in the eastern sky just before sunrise of June 20.
Jupiter and Haumea engage a new 13.5-year cycle on June 21, 2017, with the Jupiter-Haumea synod conjoining Spica and Archturus, producing an exceptionally significant cycle. This synod expresses through one geocentric conjunction occurring on September 8, 2017, which marks the climatic geocentric finale produced by a Ceres T-Square to Jupiter-Haumea opposite Eris, all presented in the article 2016-2017 Disclosure: Uranus, Eris & Haumea, with Jupiter and Ceres
The following New Moon occurs on June 24 UT (June 23 MST) at the feet of the Gemini Twins. More to come then.
