Post Jupiter synodic cycles article
Dear Nick thank you for excelent informative new article about Jupiter synodic cycles. In article you write about Jupiters Perihelion beeing closes to Sun and Earth next year and its 77 cycles. It inspired my thoughts about Vedic Calendar and the curent Kali Yuga that acording to this website:
http://himalayanacademy.com/resources/p ... _intro.PDF
started on 27 February 3102 BC. When I checked this date using RedShift 2 astronomy program I saw that there was Venus Jupiter conjunction and other planets close in Pisces constelation. Than I thought if Kali Yuga cycle has conection with Mayan Long count Calendar that most "Mayanists" see starting in August 3114 and ending on Dec Solstice 2012. I added the 5125 years that Long count cycle is made of 13 smaller cycles. And the end date I got is aprox 28 Februaru 2023. Than I saw in your chart of Jupiter that this is close to date you put there.
I know that we are entering what I call 'Galactic Door 2011" and thanks to your article I know that it is in conection to Planetary aligment of Jupiter and Venus in Pisces sidereal. I write since 2009 on my blog http://galacticdoor2011.blog.com/2010/1 ... c-jupiter/
Where I posted link to your article but I would like to write more about the conection I feel this cycles have with
Vedic Calendar, Kali Yuga and Mayan Long count calendar.
Is there a program that I could see starting from date 27 February 3102 a cequence of Jupiters synods as you mention there is 77 in a cycle. I wonder what dates thaey would be and what distances in Julian days count that would make. I dont know yet how long is Kali Yuga cycle so I will write to Monks in Kawai asking this question.

I feel that we are entering last Jupiter-Venus Cycle before the New Yuga merges with our reality in 2023.
Acording to Vedic Calendar count made in Kawai Monastery in Hawai we are in year 5112. The New Year started on 14-15 April when The Sun entered Aries constelation sidereal zodiak. The calendar also mentions 60 year cycle of 5 Jupiter returns and last such cycle started in 1987 that is another date you have shown in your chart.
Thank you for your website and great work you share with the world. Durga

Dear Nick

I wrote incorect date 27 February 3102 in above post the corect date for starting the Kali Yuga acording to this Vedic Calendar was 17 February 3102. Also when I aded 1872000 days that is Mayan Long count I come to a date aprox 26 February 2023. The Venus Jupiter conjunction will be on 2 March 2023 acording to my Redshift 2 program. I added pictues in my blog from that program. Thank You

Hi Durga
Interesting explorations.

One thing to consider is that most astronomy programs use the orbital elements of a planetary body to calculate their orbit and placements in time; and which incorporates an epoch date (like 1950 or 2000) which the elements are based upon. Thus they are not designed for distant time research, and can produce significant errors when looking at planetary placements in the far distant past or future--they are only approximate positions.

Consider using the JPL ephemeris calculator. You can set search criteria, geocentric, heliocentric coordinates, etc.

I believe you can search from 3000 BC to 3000 AD for Earth & Venus; probably not so much for Jupiter and other outer planets.

Another option is the Naval Oceanography Portal. They offer high-precession astronomical calculations. They also have a Julian Date Converter.

I'm not aware of any program to show the synods directly for distant times; other than astronomy programs like Carina's Voyager, Redshift, etc.,--but again they will only show approximate locations for distant times.

An astrology program that uses the swiss ephems (which are derived from the JPL data) may be the best shot (Heliocentric charts will show Jup-Venus synods. However their date rage is most often quite limited. I think that no matter where you look, you will only be able to get approximate planetary positions for extreme distant dates.

Hope that helps some.
Nick
